Been reading the Songs of Chaos book series by Michael R Miller and I love it, Ash is absolutely adorable. Made me realize how much I needed dragon rider books in my life.

Honestly a book about a rider who was once a servant and a blind dragon meant for death is such a cool concept. It’s could of felt like Eragon v2 but Songs of chaos very much feels like it’s own story. Also I’m loving how the main female character isn’t constantly being described as pretty or focusing on her looks because she’s also a princess.

You should check out the Songs of Chaos series if you're craving intelligent dragons! The first book in the series is painfully predictable, but the second book really starts to come into its own to tell a story that's not just Eragon in a different outfit. The magic system isn't unique, but the usage is mildly interesting and the story definitely delivers on high fantasy dragons and the main dragon/rider pairs (Holt and Ash, Thalia and Pyrrah) manage to present a close relationship that varies from bond to bond.

I don't know about you guys but i really miss seeing "high fantasy" dragons in media, high fantasy dragons are like Smaug (The Hobbit), Draco (DragonHeart), Saphira (Eragon) and Spyro (Spyro the Dragon games franchise) for example, they have their own free will and cannot be controlled, they are highly intelligent and capable of speaking and even writing or drawing. It seems the version of dragons that has taken over is the animalistic and realistic version, that are basically huge dogs that can breath fire, bring back intellectual dragons that like to make riddles to fool intruders, bring back grumpy dragons that live isolated from everyone but they are actually lonely and in need of a friend, bring back the loyal and brave dragons that are willing to sacrifice themselves to save the ones they love, dragons that will talk to you about the mysteries of the world and the universe, JUST BRING BACK HIGH FANTASY DRAGONS GODDAMIT

Songs of Chaos, Songs of Chaos, PLEASE READ SONGS OF CHAOS!!!

It’s SUCH a good high fantasy series, there are dragonriders and intricate worldbuilding and great, loveable characters and it is definitely one of my favorite fantasy series right now! The only downside is it isn’t finished yet, I am EAGERLY awaiting Book 4 :D MORE PEOPLE SHOULD READ IT SO I CAN TALK TO YALL ABOUT IT

*clawing at my bookshelves like a man dying of thirst in the desert* listen I am desperate for a new epic fantasy series to read *gnawing like an animal on my Stormlight Archive hardbacks* if someone doesn’t toss some intricately worldbuilt sweeping epic unashamedly high fantasy enrichment into my enclosure soon, I will begin my fifth readthrough of the Wheel of Time

So I’ve been in a dragon rider mood for the past few week and I’ve decided to try my hand at a few oneshots involving Lucerys because if he can’t live in Westeros, I’m going to have him living it up in other fantasy worlds.

So far these are the ideas for crossovers I have:

HOTD/Songs of chaos- Lucerys Velaryon/Holt Cook

Holt may not have met many dragons, but he knew that the boy and his odd dragon were not from this land. Ash was just excited to meet another dragon that may not shun him for his blindness.

HOTD/Eragon- Lucerys Velaryon/Eragon Shadeslayer

The day he found that beautiful blue stone in the forest, he also stumbled upon a boy with moonlight curls and a white pearlescent beast in a deep sleep.

HOTD/Narnia- Lucerys Velaryon/Edmund Pevensie

Let me know anymore fantasy books/tv shows! I still have priory of the orange tree and Narnia on my TBR list
