APRIL 10, 2023: Four days after being unjustly expelled by racist Republicans in Tennessee, Justin Jones was sworn back into office
He then marched arm-in-arm, back to the Tennessee State House with thousands of cheering constituents and supporters
With his head and fist raised high, Rep. Justin Jones triumphantly returned to the Tennessee Chamber where he reclaimed the seat that voters elected him to
We love to see it.

I just remembered that up until 5th grade, all of the sports teams I was in weren't separated by gender. I played basketball and baseball with boys. And we did just fine.
It wasn't until 6th grade when they segregated it by gender. It didn't make sense to me. I was now in softball instead of baseball, because "softball is for girls" and "baseball is for boys" (which confused me bc my dad was on an adult softball team).
Now, my brother's all-male team didn't win a single game. My all-girls team won every single one.
They presented the boys' team with this HUGE trophy, and if you wanted replicas of it, they were $30 each.
My team was presented with a very small trophy. Extras were $5.
That's when I decided gender-segregated sports were bullshit.
#my mom went off on my brother's coach for that#said that it wasn't fair that my brother's team got to celebrate more than us despite actually winning#(it was through the same sports program)#she said she wasn't gonna pay $30 for a trophy whenever he was a horrible coach#bc the boys he had when they were on my team with my coach did just fine#their coach was this horrible egotistical guy who would scream at tbem for not doing good enough#when he didnt even KNOW HOW TO PLAY and was just there bc his kid was praying#my coach was this cool ass dad that was very calm and gentle with us#the coach was like ''oh so you don't think your son deserves to celebrate?''#my mom was like ''he should but he needs to learn that he can't be rewarded for losing while#my daughter is barely rewarded for winning and i don't want to teach him that gender inequality is okay''#(my mom is cool af sometimes)#we both quit playing after that

It’s important to me that Astarion is a huge cunt on Wyll’s behalf. Wyll might be too kind and sweet to people who don’t deserve his good heart, but his husband is not.
He’s also the son-in-law of Ulder Ravengard’s nightmares.
#baldur's gate 3#wyllstarion#wyll learns to be selfish and put himself first sometimes#astarion learns to feel safe and protected and that there is still good in the world#everyone wins#except for ulder ravengard but fuck that guy

Maybe House has made me more in-tune to the secret unhinged side of my favorite characters but I'm watching SVU and Alex Cabot is a menace. (/pos)
"I have to enforce the law, and the law is not always about justice" except random times when she disagrees and will fully become the lawyer for an opposing party in full defiance of her bosses.
"Your honor I simply do not vibe with the law" and will say so in court to the point where she once got held in contempt.
Started her legendary string of "Go After The Large Company Instead of the Obvious Target" cases just because Liv asked.
She will actually do literally anything that Olivia asks...sometimes when she does something especially unhinged I go to check the scene before and 90% of the time she's doing whatever it is to appease some vague whim of Liv's.
Ride or die for the SVU squad as a whole after working with them for less than a year and knowing that they have cost her like all her political capital (something that was very important to her...she says so in her introductory scene).
Exactly predicted fetal personhood legal issues 25 years before the Supreme Court overturned Roe.
Wanted to execute a woman for the first time in NY history for feminism reasons.
Spends like 80% of all work meetings, with other people in the room who are often actively talking to her, just staring at Olivia.
Always down for a Crazy Scheme (especially when she gets to deceive others).
She has a lot of moments of understanding the law as a weapon (ie how to I use it to my own ends as opposed to viewing it as a holy ideal) that is only now actually becoming a common philosophy in law school circles.
WAY more loose-cannon moments in general than I remembered.
Also I feel the need to reiterate just how many bridges she will burn and loops she will jump through for the slightest hint of approval from Olivia. Just...so gay.
Seriously just like how in House a casual viewer may get distracted by Wilson's "Definitely a Normal Person" disguise and miss how he is just as crazy as House, Alex is just as batshit as known exhibitionist-asphyxiation-in-the-middle-of-the-courtroom fan Rafael. And I love her dearly.
#law and order svu#svu#alex cabot#olivia benson#house md#i just love her so much#I know copaganda bad okay#Which is why I rarely recommend the show#But when the police are the good guys I just pretend it's a parallel universe#and understand it in no way reflects reality#and a lot of times what Alex is advocating for isn't good!#like she goes really hard for the death penalty#but my favorites are allowed to have flaws#especially when they are So Pretty#She and CJ Cregg from TWW were pretty much my gay awakening#Will I return to writing Cabenson? Maybe#I have fleeting ideas sometimes#And I never really did a proper angsty character study on her like I've done for Rafael#cabenson#Cabenson for the win (in a very “all ships are valid” personal preference kind of way)

pecco rant please please
*spins wheel on possible topics* absurdly underrated but in a dumb way. you'd think you can stumble your way into two premier class titles. I don't care he's on the best bike - let's be honest, how often this century have the title winners not been on the best bike? 2004 and to a lesser extent 2005 you can say clearly weaker bike, 2007 late 2010s 2021 there's a clear enough disparity with anyone else riding the bike that you can say clearly the rider is making the difference/it's an unrideable wreck one guy is making respectable, then there's a few seasons where it's at least very close whose machinery is best or they're fighting with people on equal equipment, which pecco has done! but generally speaking, good/promising riders end up on good bikes and then they win. that's how the game works!
the thing about 2022 is that it had such a massive mid-season swing that overhauling a ninety something point margin cannot come down to any single factor. is it fair to say fabio lost that title? on balance, it's a bit harsh - yes, there were a few too many errors post-sachsenring, yes, some were driven by desperation, but also you can't really expect anyone to ride a flawless season. but pecco did win that title as much as yamaha lost it. I don't care if you're riding a literal rocketship with two wheels, you can't win four races in a row if you're not extremely good at what you do! if we're saying that title was worth less because the yamaha turned to shit in the second half of the season, then let's keep going. let's put an asterisk next to 2013 because jorge and dani both got injured (let's not even get into the 'if marc hadn't been injured' asterisks because that's where you get into truly silly territory). is 2006 not a legit title because of all the bad luck valentino faced that year? let's say all titles between 2007 to 2015 were worth less because at any one time only 4-6 bikes had a realistic chance of winning races. throw out any title before 2009 because they were constantly fucking about with the tyres and there wasn't a level playing field. if you're motivated enough, you can play this game with basically anything, but it's dumb and pointless because that's not how sports works! you can only win against whoever you're facing. it has always been thus and it will always be thus
it's narratively fun and juicy that pecco has these insecurities himself - but within the context of everyone else doing discourse over it, the whole thing is massively overblown! linked to some of the worst sports discourse about how much people love to disparage late bloomers, because they need every single successful athlete to fit the same mould of the ultra-talented wunderkind, apparently. it's more interesting when it's not always the most 'talented' (whatever tf that means), naturally gifted, *fast the second he touches a bike* bloke who wins. sometimes they have to work hard for it, sometimes they have to improve themselves year on year and be smart about how they do it, sometimes they have to be in the right place and right time, sometimes they have to be very lucky. sports is all about competition, and competition is all about contrast. it's a contrast that can be generated in a whole lot of ways, and in fairness to motogp they have come up with a bunch of interesting narratively tense contests that don't rely on a massive fundamental 'talent' differential - but at the end of the day, that's one of the best ones you can have! the more ways you can have to win in any given sport, the better, both in the literal sense of how you go about the actual process of winning and how you even become a winner. none of this means that pecco isn't very very good, it means he got there in a different way than every other multiple champ this century has. it fundamentally flattens the sport if you want every top-level competitor to be an alien-level talent... one of the best things about this current era is that it has given us something new and exciting in that regard, where you well and truly believe some very different blokes might have what it takes to eventually be champion
anyway, pecco is absurdly adept at digging himself into holes and absurdly adept at digging himself out of them. he's one of the worst frontrunners imaginable in every sense, biologically incapable of dominating without at least a perpetual hint of jeopardy, both in the context of a race and a season. but when his back is against the wall, somehow he keeps finding performances you never imagined he was capable of. his mixed up and slightly odd skillset, his strengths and weaknesses, how he's better and worse than he has any right to be... all of it lends itself to perpetual momentum shifts and thrilling seasons - because you never quite know what you're going to get. love him or hate him, he's a gift to the overall competitive landscape! god knows the racing hasn't been much to write home about these last few years (though, yes, we did have a good little run this season), but somehow he's managed to get himself involved in two out of the six title deciders this century back-to-back. is that not the dream for the viewer, to have a bloke at the top of the sport with a little self-combust chip in his head every time he builds too much of an advantage? build a hundred of those guys! throw a marc marquez at him and see what he does! I can't wait to see what he'll come up with next
#this is a rant in the truest sense of the word that i didn't structure or edit this and wrote it in one go#to be clear this is ZERO comment on people vibing or not vibing with him as a human being. idc!! this is about competition!!#i've accidentally ended up in a place with this sport where i HAPPEN to like some absurdly talented freaks#who were disgustingly dominant. which means i have now stumbled into a fan space filled with people who are really into dominance#not my vibe!! at all!! two of my favourite valentino seasons are 2006 and 2015. 2015 is also one of my fave marc seasons#not gonna say what my fave casey seasons are bc it feels a bit like kicking a puppy when it's down but well it's not the title winning ones#want marc to suffer a normal amount!! it's all about putting these guys in situations... if you're just talented and successful who CAREEES#i loveeeeeee athletes who self sabotage..... love how for pecco building confidence is really a Project like it isn't natural!!#and good lord don't get me about team orders discourse. you'd think he had seven ducati riders holding his hands#a little bit of corruption is good sometimes... adds narrative spice#//#brr brr#batsplat responds#'loves 2006 and heart rate easily clears 100 every time marc marquez does anything in a race' perhaps the world's worst rossi fan?#reverse is true too tbf but at least that contradiction feels fundamental to the full marc marquez experience#current tag

Damn, in one week I have had two strangers (a bank teller and a barista) talk to me about Dimension 20 without my mentioning it! Good for Dropout, I love seeing them get this level of awareness and success for their incredible work
Like someone you have a passing exchange with recognizes D20 merch and then another asks if you have any D20 art when you tell them you paint DnD things. Truly so rad!!
#and you better believe I made them regret bringing it up by infodumping#in my defense I only infodumped on the bank teller while they were on hold#I was a barista and I know they don’t have time to hear about my special interests#another great reason to give dropout 5.99 a month#dropout tv#dimension 20#the good guys win sometimes

If the announcement feels underwhelming its probably because they thought the strike would be over by now. The 45 (I'm not sure if the number is correct) days were mainly to give enough time to pass for them to actually give us information, but since the strike didn't end in time they gave us as much information as they could without scabbing.
It's still exciting and there is loads of stuff being kept from us but being patient sometimes pays off.

i know it's popular fanon to think that essek has little to no relationship experience and i do think his bedroom experience is average at best (for a hot young* elf) but i Personally think he's got a long line of heartbreaks behind him. i mean this so slash negative slash derogatory i think he was out there wining and dining and leaving-behining all the time. just for fun and profit. working on his acting chops. showing off. he likes attention dude. i don't think that's directly contradictory to him being very reclusive and quiet about his work i think he was mysterious and sexy and thought flirting was funny. anyway he and caleb "genuinely falls in love with every other person he meets and then is really weird about it, EXCEPT for essek, who he was genuinely honeypotting" widogast, who essek was also genuinely honeypotting for reasons Far beyond boredom (see: i think some of his early weirdness/awkward formality can be explained by the fact that he was trying to mask real homicidal rage towards the m9) are insane together they're ride or die they're perfect for each other they're lifelong "friends" and they're playing mind games the likes of which would level a city park id they broke out of containment. and it's enrichment for them
#i think it is absolutely critical to keep in mind that 1. this CHILD of an elf (in comparison to da'leth) convinced DA'LETH to do treason#with him. not that i think da'leth is generally against treason but essek had to have been a winning combo of cunning and charismatic for#that to work. and 2. caleb generally falls in love with everyone BUT this is so critical BUT he did not fucking do that with essek.#he Did Not. my guy is not that stupid he knew exactly what he was looking at. he didn't know the scale but he knew Something Was Up#and essek 'flirts so often he forgets he's flirting' thelyss and caleb 'victim and perp of some of the most insane relationship drama to#ever come out of wildemount AND a trained manipulator' widogast stumbled into one another sometime circa hot chocolate whiskey#and Aeor Horrors#and both promptly had the same OH NO moment before saying fuck it and showing off increasingly complicated spells#as a mating dance#while also still being deeply insane about their perception of 'normal relationships' and 'how to communicate'#caleb did a good job at the grove but. where's the fic where he gets essek to stay the damn night via shutting off his magic

So I'm not the world's biggest Doctor Who fan or anything, I haven't done more than Tumblr watch it in years, but I happened across a quote from the Christopher Eccleston season that struck me as an interesting quote to use to discuss Anakin, his choice to save Luke, and why it doesn't really work for me.
You let one of them go but that’s nothing new. Every now and then a little victim’s spared because she smiled, ’cause he’s got freckles. ‘Cause they begged. And that’s how you live with yourself. That’s how you slaughter millions. Because once in awhile—on a whim, if the wind’s in the right direction—you happen to be kind.
-- Doctor Who, Boom Town
I don't remember the context of the quote really, so I'm not going to discuss that.
But that bit about how one small act of kindness doesn't really... mean anything? THAT'S what's getting me here.
This is why Darth Vader isn't redeemed. Because yeah, sure, he did one kind thing. But Luke is probably not the first random person he decided to spare because, on a whim, he decided to just let someone run or escape.
The one act of kindness isn't truly about the person on the receiving end of it anyway, it's about HIM, about living with HIMSELF. Because he wants to believe he's a hero even though he's doing evil selfish things and he KNOWS he's doing evil selfish things but he can't face that so he just keeps telling himself he's a hero, and it's probably easier to tell himself that if, every so often, when the wind's going the right direction, he decides to be kind.
But it's still selfish.
Saving Luke is still selfish. Because he wants to be a hero TO LUKE, he doesn't want to live WITHOUT Luke, so he saves him. He saves him so he can say "tell your sister you were right." He lets himself die so he doesn't have to live with the consequences of anything he's done. That's how he slaughters millions and dies thinking of himself as the hero still, after everything.
#anti anakin#luke skywalker#anti anakin skywalker#anakin critical#anakin skywalker critical#doctor who#this is how he gets through the clone war too#he's massacred an ENTIRE VILLAGE OF PEOPLE down to its last child#he's lying about that to everyone except padme and palpatine#he's broken his own oaths before he even took them#and is lying about that too#he continues to kill people during the clone war too#he emotionally manipulates padme#he abuses ahsoka#but if he can win a battle then hey none of that matters right?#it cancels out#sometimes he's The Good Guy TM so all that evil shit he does the rest of the time is no longer applicable

current wins of title contenders this season (out of 9 races, another 10-11 to go): bagnaia - 6; martin - 2
#i don't actually like counting race wins because i'm FAR more about consistency metrics when evaluating seasons#but i had a moment this morning where i was like... hang on. pecco is on SIX wins this season?? six??#he's already matched valentino's tally for one of his seasons. he's outstripped one of marc's titles and matched another two#currently on 2/3 win rate. i know he isn't the biggest flyaway guy and i imagine he'd like to build up a buffer before then but#even if he loses this title it's definitely an impressive run#//#brr brr#if anyone says a WORD about joan then i will personally bite you. tread carefully#i don't love just doing the maths without sprint races because that's just not how anything works#like the sunday races wouldn't be the same if they hadn't had done the saturday races. you can't just separate that out so simply#BUT i do have a spreasheet for this just out of idle curiosity and unsurprisingly pecco leads a lot more comfortably on just sunday numbers#42 point lead#here's my mean stat: do you know how often valentino crashed out of the lead from 2001 to 2009? you want to know the total?#he did it ONCE. once! donington 2009 in the rain where he recovered to fifth. that's it!! his entire prime. nine seasons and it's ONCE#i'm not 100% certain but just looking at his results and mentally categorising them.... is his premier class career total two??#surely not... it's certainly very low though#pecco must exhaust him sometimes good lord#current tag

considering making another animatic, this time a personal one rather than a fandom one. i really do want to make and post more personal whatever-the-fuck-i-want art so im trying to get over the fear and shame over the idea thats been grilled into me. preview of the song im considering:
warning for intense flashing lights/images and discussion of suicide in this music video
youtube
#null havoc damage#i really like chonny jash's stuff i think its really incredible#he kind of redefined what 'writing music' meant to me bc he made his place by writing covers and changing the words#and idk before that i hadnt really considered doing covers as songwriting but then i realized no yeah it is#youre using a prewritten melody but changing the instruments and the words and sometimes the key or tempo. remixing is still art#theres a lot of chonny songs i really love. this is one but We're Gonna Win and K.K. Cruisin' are also really good#i dont claim knowledge of the guy personally but a lot of his songs have a strong plural feeling to me that makes me resonate with them#the conflict between Heart and Mind during the chaos compendium reminds me of when i was younger#I WILL NOT GO ON JUST KNOW THAT I COULD.
