I think the wildest part about the Porter isn't that he's evil. As you've said, Brennan's been hinting at Porter being evil this season for a while now, so while it's still shocking, it's not surprising, if you get what I'm saying.

No, it's the fact that this has always been the plan and not something that was reconned in this season. Like, we all thought this was just Brennan taking the bit to its logical conclusion, but no, this has been a reveal five years in the making...

Yeah for me the thing that floored me wasn't the reveal because that's been on the table for a while now. It was when Brennan said he'd been holding on to it for five years.

Because I even an amazing DM like Brennan can't plan EVERYTHING in advance. Like, the Night Yorb was obviously an addition purely based on the fact that Murph anagrammed Garthy of Brian looking for clues. And I can't imagine Gilear was ever meant to be anything other than a 4 HP divorcee. The Night Yorb fight and Gilear's curse are both pretty clear instances of Brennan running with a bit and working it into the story. But he said he's been sitting on this for FIVE YEARS. Since Freshman year!

I would even be less shocked if he said since Sophmore Year because there is that weird conversation with him, Jace, and Arianwen that finally came up this ep that was never resolved. But since Freshman year? That's nuts!

Second Edit: I am untethered to the passage of time and did my math to figure out when 5 years ago was incorrectly lol. Still impressed Brennan sat on this for so long but 5 years means since Soph Year not Freshman Year. See the replies for me realizing I did my math wrong last night.

If he's not exaggerating then, imo, it's pretty incredible to have this much lore in the back pocket with regard to NPCs that aren't even necessarily factoring into your main story that much. I wonder if this is akin to Mr. Gibbons (dude Aguefort killed to rez Gorgug in ep 2) just being evil and it never being explored but Brennan having had it in his notes. Does he just have a list of 3-5 other evil plots simultaneously happening in the background ready to be stumbled onto or just the general vibes of which teachers are shady?

And, as a sometimes DM, the last time I ran a full length campaign, literally before the game even started--like during Session Zero--I had my BBEG guessed offhandedly by a player just based on her name which wasn't any different from the other names I listed as part of background info and I just went through all the stages of grief internally and then pressed on without changing anything because of Story Integrity. Anyway my point is that it happens and as a DM it is WILD when it does.

Anyway, I am SO excited for the AP tomorrow. Brennan, you better not hold anything back I am SO curious about your DM machinations!

You had a dragon, named Larix, but you were not allowed to fly on him yet since he is a big dragon, and you might get hurt or worse die, you think that was a stupid rule that your parents made for you since you already flew on him once when you claimed him, but I guess you did not have a choice, it's either waiting until your old enough or will never ride him.

Your parents were protective of you, when they found out that you claimed a dragon they went ballistic, they complained that the dragon was too dangerous for a little child like you, yet they still arranged a marriage between their daughter to their son, even though they are still children, funny right? And sooner or later Aegon will bed Heleana, which is disgusting because they are still children. You felt bad for Helaena and Aegon, even after what Aegon did, you still felt bad for him being forced to marry his sister.

But what can you do? They are Targaryen, it's normal for their house, yet it still is messed up.

Sooner or later, you will get betrothed to some man, you do not really want to get married yet, but what can you do?

You pray to the Gods that the man your parents will betrothed you to someone nice and respectful, and not some old lord who only wants to bed little girls and carry his heirs.

FHJY Episode 17 Spoilers Big big big meta trying to place the Nightmare King plot and Ankarna Conspiracy, Jace Stardiamond and Porter Cliffbreaker's places in it. Short version? I do not think these plans started intertwined.

So the Ratgrinders are getting their pre-existing anger spiked by Ankarna corruption, and Porter's motives have been very explicitly spelled out, but what is Jace getting out of this, why, and when did he start? This I feel is the point that cracks open how these plans eventually connected. I'm going to open by saying this isn't Jace apologism, because that'd be weird as hell, but it might look like it for a second. An important piece of the puzzle is he clearly died and was infected by a rage star same as the Ratgrinders at some point. Jace is noted/characterized as being very lax and chill in Freshman Year. He has not acted this way in all of his appearances in Junior Year. Now one may point to Jace and Porter in the cafeteria after the first combat in the series, but here's the thing. Porter WASN'T in on the plan of Kalvaxus. Near the end of Freshman Year he is one of the staff who is captured in a Palimpsest. But we do know someone was much closer to that plan, Jace Stardiamond. While Ragh's testimony about Porter and Jace has already been played, people forget that Jace was mentioned outside of just being with Porter. Ragh mentions seeing Jace AND ONLY Jace talking with Arianwen Abernant and a figure Ragh could not yet see (presumably Kalina), this is without Porter present, and as established Porter was actively targeted in the Kalvaxus plot.

We can safely assume two things from this, Jace was one of the only unaccounted for staff members at the time when the Nightmare King's crown disappeared, and he was seen talking with the people who later had it, so he's likely our culprit in swiping it from Arthur Aguefort's office. Also, Porter, while always plotting the Ankarna situation, was genuinely in the dark about Kalvaxus' plan. This leaves us with two questions. One we have pretty likely answers to, one we don't. Question 1. When did Jace die and get revived? He likely isn't acting entirely of his own will in the Ankarna plot, as evidenced by his red wound and heightened anger compared to previous appearances. This has a likely answer, he probably died at the same time as Kipperlilly Copperkettle, presumably in the Mountains of Chaos. I sincerely do not think this was planned, at least not by Jace though it could have been in some roundabout fashion. Question 2. When does Porter contract Kalina? We know he had been plotting Ankarna stuff for a long time, likely before he even met the Bad Kids. While it's technically possible he always knew about Kalina, I do not consider it likely. We know Kalina had a big hand in the Kalvaxus plot (she specifically worked with him to kill Pok Gukgak, and manipulate Aelwyn Abernant), but signs point to Porter not knowing about the Kalvaxus plot, he's explicitly taken out of the picture by Kalvaxus. But Porter later works with Kalina to attack Lydia Barkrock and infect Ragh Barkrock, pretty soon after. The only connection to the Kalina infection he explicitly has is his seeming friendship with Jace. I posit that Jace intentionally brought Porter into the fold. Soon after Kalvaxus' death. Jace can't object to the plan changing to Ankarna now, because he died and was resurrected by Ankarna and Porter sometime during Sophmore Year (most likely). (Side note, this implies Jace either gave Porter a blood transfusion or form of healing, implying his subclass is Divine Soul, or like, the two of them had sex at some point? This part of the timeline baffles me.)

FHJY thoughts under the cut bc I gotta sort my brain and can't be succinct to save my life

I think there's something interesting in acknowledge like

of COURSE Kipperlily underestimated the bad kids.

She's hated these kids from day 1. I know a lot of people want to acknowledge that it's not unreasonable for Kipperlily and the rat grinders to think the school is run unfairly (and you're right! it's a fair conclusion)

-- but we also gotta consider that this is something that took root in her VERY EARLY. Before the bad kids got really very good. Two bad kids die on the first day of school, they spend a significant amount of their second semester freshman year just. In Prison.

Of course what follows I'm sure spurs that hatred, but she all but declared Riz to be her nemesis with Jawbone freshman year.

She's probably got some good ideas of how stuff should change, but also she saw this random Goblin boy with a briefcase in rogue class and decided she Hates Him, for a reason none of us can fathom when several of the other bad kids give off worst first impressiona

She's a teenager, a kid, with anger issues. As much as their can be important nuggets at the core of her motives, she's a teenager without emotional regulation skills. That combination is BUILT to breed resentment and feelings of entitlement. and it's built to actively ignore any evidence of a different perspective.

We talk about how she doesn't understand them, takes Kristen as entirely uncaring, doesn't expect the bad kids to do so well in the Last Stand

and OF COURSE she doesn't. some of this because she of course is not privy to all of the bad kids interactions that we are as an audience. but a lot of it is probably because she's a teenager who's decided she's being slighted and as a result is never going to take the bad kids actions on good faith. she's doubled down and while I have a feeling she's extremely perceptive, she's also in an emotional place that means she probably is ACTIVELY ignoring any evidence to the fact that maybe the bad kids are just ALSO working very hard, and that the school itself may also work against them sometimes.

Add to that a god corrupted into rage (negative in this case) and conquest, and a nefarious faculty member as a potentially directly manipulative adult in her life trying to make something big and destructive happen. Kipperlily strikes me as the kind of person who knows she's smart, and knows she's clever, but is so blinded by her emotion that she is probably missing some of whats clearly in front of her as far as all the Jace business goes. She certainly is about the bad kids.

Jawbone can only do so much to help her in her sessions if he's being actively worked against. Emotional regulation is hard to learn from zero AS AN ADULT and she's probably coming from the negatives if my impression is correct, and is doing so as a teenager.

I guess what I'm trying to say is like

In a vacuum? Sure augeforts comment about trying being stupid or whatever does seem like another slap in the face for Kipperlily, one that justifies some of her feelings.

But not about the bad kids. and not to the extent she has taken them.

And to take that at its word feels weird to me because. To anybody paying attention? The bad kids are and have been trying SO SO hard in class. Them having to take the last stand in the FIRST place is specifically because the school system is treating Kristen unfairly DESPITE her best, GOOD efforts. I'm certain the rat grinders are on some level aware of Gorgugs EXTREMELY uphill battle with schoolwork this season, even if it's just Maryann catching part of a convo with Porter or Ruben hearing about it from his uncle. I HIGHLY doubt that Oisin was oblivious to the way that Adaines academics were affected by her not having the money for the correct materials - she still was able to excel mostly but the effects of that roll being at disadvantage for so long are still THERE. Jawbone pinned down and mentioned to Riz his similarities to Kipperlily within maybe 2 seconds - there is 0% chance he hasn't brought something similar up in Kipperlilys sessions. She may not like it, she may not have the emotional intelligence to see it this way, but his efforts almost certainly mirror hers in a way that makes them equally hard workers, absolutely determined to keep themselves afloat despite it being an uphill battle. Something that she feels she deserves to be rewarded for, and to an extent implies that if just a few circumstances were different she would be able to see equal value in his work.

And sure you can say she may be able to see that and be angry that their work is rewarded and hers isn't, but we see time and time again that she and her party don't always put that same level of work in? Mary Ann at blood rush, absolutely uncaring but doing well specifically because she's got some magical enhancements. The suspicious circumstances of Kipperlily finding the Rogue teacher. Even just the natural advantage of Oisin having more than the funds he needs to excel in wizard class.

But even regardless of that, she seems to refuse to see that any scenario in which others are praised for the same thing she's done, while she is ignored etc, is the sole responsibility of the school here. the bad kids are not her enemies in that fight - augefort is. The bad kids are not going around being consistently given advantages from the school, they're earning the things they get and hitting their own academic road blocks, and they aren't acting better than other people in a way that goes beyond like. Teen stuff. And yet her sights are trained so unblinking on them.

I can see Fabian and Kristen's popularity and personalities coming off like it supports that they're being treated better or feel some superiority. And it's teen stuff to quietly hate those ppl at your school! it's p normal!

But it always brings me back to her SPECIFICALLY hating Riz. Bc Riz isn't a rich kid throwing parties that everyone loves. Hes not sniping out comebacks the way Kristen does, sometimes without even thinking. In a lot of ways he's the/one of the least abrasive of the group to an outsider. Which makes me SO much more inclined to call bullshit that this is truly, honestly rooted in an acknowledgement of any of the REAL problems that come up with their school system.

It's complex, but I feel like we can't exalt their perspective as a Truth of the world like it seems some folks do when these characters themselves do not play fairly. What is fair about the way they interfered with the exam. What is fair about what she did so easily to Buddy Dawn. What is fair about the murder of the couple that owned that farm. Depending on what happened - what is fair from them about Lucy's murder. Certainly what is fair about their hand in Yolandas.

This idea that things are unfair isn't untrue. But not in the ways she thinks, and shes moved so far beyond that notion at this point. Kipperlily probably DOES believe that she's uniquely a victim of this system, or at least that everyone but the bad kids is. But she's moved so far beyond that. Whatever divine rage magic is involved has ensured that, as well as probably some Adult manipulation, and severely underdeveloped emotional regulation skills. and for me that means like. obviously she is unjustified in her actions.

Augefort is absolutely unhinged. his school has never been run in a manner that rewards buckling down in the classroom and the classroom only. It's an adventuring school in truly the most chaotic and violence rewarding sense, and that information is given freely by Arthur augefort at maybe any turn

Saw something about the theoretical being just as important as the practical. and yes! absolutely! a very good point that I'm glad was brought up - going to the classes is important and I think this season has really emphasized the ways in which that's true at least in terms of Staying in School and Honing your Skills

I do think, in the same breath, that that STILL means that the practical is ALSO just as important as the theoretical. It CAN'T be one or the other, it HAS to be both.

and the bad kids are DOING both. regardless of what it may count for, the rat grinders xp leveling by continuing to do freshman level combat in order to excel more on paper ISN'T them really doing the practical part of what theyre learning in their higher level classes. And the bad kids do not get credit for their saving of the world REGARDLESS. Not on its own merit, and to get the credit they'd have to jump a hefty academic bar that sort of invalidates the point of practical efforts in the first place, not to mention works against students like Fig and Kristen.

The school is actively rewarding Kipperlily and her party's cheat code practical use of their skills, over the bad kids putting just as much if not more effort into their LITERALLY WORLD SAVING missions. whatever favoritism shes seeing, or that there may be occasionally, Kipperlily fundamentally takes the bad kids in bad faith. It's not ABOUT what is ACTUALLY unfair to her at this point.

from her perspective every accolade or accomplishment from them HAS to come from favoritism in order to fit how her view of whats actually unfair has been warped. for her it doesn't MATTER that they've been trying because they MUST not be trying as hard as she is. it doesn't matter that they visibly saved the world three times, one of which was livestreamed and included several party members dropping, successfully because surely it's a fluke, or they were given better opportunities than others for no reason, or they're being falsely worshipped for what MUST be a less dangerous quest than it seems (despite us seeing clearly on the first day of school that nobody is putting a pedestal up for their night yorb win)

What could have been a justified spark of frustration with a system has shifted into a vengeful sense of entitlement that to me? fully abandons the good of wanting to change a school system actively working against some (/all?) students.

Kipperlily in her current state is INCAPABLE of not underestimating the bad kids bc that would require some acknowledgement that they have worked and bled and died to reach the level they're at.

You cannot separate the girl who sneaks in to the Last Stand to sabotage another party's chances of passing, of staying at school, of continuing school, of one of them from potentially keeping their god alive, and of being brought back from what she assumes is certain death - from the slighted teenager running for class president to make things "more fair"

you cannot separate the girl who easily slits her own party clerics throat without second thought from the girl who thinks she's been slighted by an unjust system

What she means by unfair is inherently colored by her being that same person

Augefort can say whatever nonsense he wants, and it doesn't really justify her current frustrations at this point because her version of fair is fundamentally unfair now.

Shes a child who's become corrupted, just like Buddy. but unlike him - she's become genuinely nefarious and vengeful. Unlike buddy she is actively plotting. Harming others with full knowledge of it. We don't know how much of it comes from her on her own, or the rage baking underground, or Stardiamonds direct involvement - but I think this most recent episode should make it clear that like

Whatever truth there is to the school being run in a way that is unfair to its students, and regardless of what she says or thinks

Kipperlily Copperkettle is not operating from that grounded perspective. and I don't think she has been for a long time

An Analysis of Aegon Targaryen ll's relationship with family from my fic that no one asked for

(Obviously, this is my take on Aegon based on my own fic, also kind of spoilers if you haven't read)

For the first 13 years of his life, Aegon really couldn't care too much about Helaena, he just saw her as his weird little sister. There were moments of love such as when he handed her a beetle in Driftmark but those were few and far between.

"He passively stretched out his hand, demonstrating a black beetle. Helaena looked as if she wanted to jump in place. She excitedly took the creature from Aegon’s hand and caressed its shell. (1)"

However, something happened in Driftmark that changed him forever. Aemond lost his eye. And Aegon failed to save his brother because he was drunk.

Aegon seemingly understood and put down his goblet. “Very well, but I’ll be drinking some fine wine later tonight. (1)”

Up until that point, Aegon tolerated his siblings but now his own carelessness had resulted in Aemond being hurt. His protectiveness toward his siblings was triggered that night.

"Aegon’s face darkened. His shoulders tensed as he clenched his jaw. Aemond had rarely seen his brother so upset. “That’s not fair! Jace called Aemond a Green!” Aegon suddenly spoke out. (2)"

Now as a grown man, Aegon has stopped drinking. He is married to Helaena and they have twins. He loves his children but retains feelings of self-hatred that sometimes come out in his interactions with them.

"Jaehaerys who was born first had Helaena’s lilac eyes. Meanwhile, Jaehaera who was born next had his eyes. The color was just a shade darker, but he could tell from the moment he saw her. He didn’t know what to feel when he saw those eyes. Her smile was her mother’s, but he regretted that his blood gave her his eyes.(3)"

He loves Jaehaera but she unfortunately inherited his eyes and he hates that. He adores his daughter and despises that she took on his features. He doesn't see himself in the greatest light and her looking like him crushes him because he feels she shouldn't look like him. Jaehaera is sweet, innocent, and good which Aegon feels he is not.

His relationship with Helaena is also complex. Given that he was raised alongside her and surrounded by the traditional Targaryen beliefs, he was aware that siblings married but he didn't think they would. Aegon has always seen Helaena as his little sister in the non-Targaryen way. Even after they married (for reasons I can't spoil yet) Aegon still sees her as his sister, not a romantic partner. Due to his protectiveness following Driftmark, he will sometimes display what others think are romantic gestures.

"With his other hand, he cupped her cheek.(3)"

"Aegon took her hand and cradled it.(3)"

However, he simply does these things platonically. In the example of his holding her hand, he knows Helaena likes certain physical gestures. And with his touch of her cheek, it's his trying to snap her out of her dragon dreams because she goes into a dissociative state. While they clearly have evidence of their consummation, Aegon can't see her as his wife. The idea of her being his wife is simply a title to him. While he realistically does recognize that they are married, to him she's his sister first. An example of this is when they briefly talk about their wedding.

“That child may have grown but he still cares about his little sister.(3)”

He purposely calls her "his little sister" and not "his wife". It could be seen as a way of him putting a distance between them but that's not the case to Aegon. To him, loving Helaena as a sister is more meaningful than loving her as a wife and this goes into Aegon's own issues with the idea of romantic partners in general.

When he was thirteen years old Aegon and his family were forced to flee King's Landing, effectively becoming traitors. Since then, he has been running for six years of his life only surrounded by his two brothers, younger sister, and mother. Due to this, he’s never truly developed a bond with someone outside his family. If he ever possibly began to care for someone romantically it wouldn’t have lasted. Aegon knew that because of how often his family has to move around he didn't try to develop any other relationships. To him, love was never a realistic option. Helaena is the closest he’ll ever have to that type of bond but as previously mentioned he doesn't feel that way with her. Despite this, he takes his marriage with Helaena seriously.

3. What fandoms do you write for? My current two mains are Shadowhunters and Fast and Furious. I have in the past posted stories for Daredevil, Merlin, Harry Potter, Torchwood, The Defenders, Sherlock, Four Brothers and Suits. I have other fandoms I've started fics in but not finished/posted

5. Do you respond to comments? I respond to all comments while the story is in progress and then for probably a couple of months after it ends before I stop. Unless someone asks a specific question, then I always respond. I wish I could do all of them ever but life makes it hard.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I almost answered none of them before I remembered Addicted, which is about Brian and Dom hooking up during the first movie which I mostly wrote to prove to myself I could do smut. I'm pretty sure it ends with Brian realizing Mia (who he's supposed to be maybe getting together with as per the movie) heard them do that and Dom knew she would and from there Brian understanding that they're imploding even without him and the FBI.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Literally all the others, lol. I'm a happy ending girlie.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Yes, in the Shadowhunters fandom if I write Jace as a good parabatai. Occasionally for if I write Isabelle as a good sister or Clary as not a total piece of shit. Also sometimes if I write Alec in a way that suggests maybe Magnus isn't the greatest in the world who has suffered more than Alec ever will.

9. Do you write smut? Yes but I generally prefer the fade to black approach

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written? I've never written a crossover.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of I don't think. I don't even know if I would want to know, like that would consume me in the worst way

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, but not as Marchling. All of the comments were telling me that the translator was changing things and it was a bad translation and the person doing it was getting really weird. It was just like a nightmare kind of so now I request no one translate my fics. I'm sure someone would do it better and I'm just being all oversensitive because I got burned once but I'd rather just not go down that road again.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, but also not as Marchling.

14. What's your all time favorite ship? I honestly don't think I have one, it really depends on my mood.

15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Oh absolutely. I have a couple of Shadowhunters stories that I doubt will ever be finished because they just don't want to be written I think. I love the ideas but the ideas don't love me

16. What are your writing strengths? I think I write dialogue well. I try to make sure that I include some sort of realistic recovery even if the story is shorter. I like to experiment with formatting to help tell the story and I think it's generally effective

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I can't write drabbles. I am not good at action scenes. I don't do enough description.

18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics? I've been corrected in the comments more than once, lol. I like to do the dialogue in another language but write the English in italics so even if I'm wrong everyone still knows what it was meant to be.

19. First fandom you wrote for? I was like 11 or 12 and I posted my first two stories at the same time. One for a fandom I won't name because they're still out there and it's small enough you could find them and I'd rather die. The other for Angel the TV series. I got more comments on the other fandom one and so I was embarrassed that the Angel one got way less and I deleted it lmao. Did I mention I was in middle school?

20. Favorite fic you have written? I am so proud of so many of my stories but I think the Marked in Trust series is always going to be just the tiniest bit extra special in my heart.

You didn't really understand why you were forcing yourself to go to that party, they were a class totally above you, rich and fake people who will treat you well as long as they keep extracting everything, as long as you could be useful to them, this doesn't suit you, this is suffocating enough for you, but still you were there, going against all your thoughts.

Taking another glass of champagne of a brand you surely would never have tasted in other places, at other parties, but this one was not normal, it was a Targaryen party, more specific, the birthday of your friend's mother, you didn't know exactly why Jacaerys invited you, you interacted a few times with his mother, Rhaenyra, eccentric name like every Targaryen, was a kind woman, but kinder than most of the pompous idiots you had to meet.

You knew only Jacaerys and your brother and it seemed they were both too busy, to give you any attention, you mentally cursed Jace, what was he thinking, inviting you to a party he knew you didn't know anyone but him, and leaving you here, planted, beside the drinks table.

You were about to leave just waiting to finish everything that was in your glass, not you were going to make the best of the situation, drink and eat as much as you could, not that the food was great, it was such exotic and weird dishes, it looked disgusting and not tasty at all.

Maybe nothing in that big crowded room was going to take your attention away, not maybe one thing, maybe strange hands reaching around your waist and pulling you back, making you slam your back against the man's chest, if it took another second maybe you would go crazy and turn around and punch whatever the hell the guy was, bastard and cuckold who had the audacity to do that, and the whiskey mint breath so characteristic of him didn't have the delivery man, right next to your ear, with his chin almost resting on one of your shoulders.

— I didn't know you were coming, has anyone ever said that you simply look like a goddess?

Aegon that bastard, what to expect from him, if not this intrusion, but honestly his fingers on your belly, and the hot breath in your ear were making you feel so hot, your heart too....m what the fuck were you with thinking!!!

Moving quickly away from your "attacker" you would say abused son of a bitch, but that word works too, you could see his slight pout very well, as he saw you take your hands off his body, not that he fought back, his face quickly seemed to pull itself together, with a teasing smile.

— What were you thinking, grabbing me like that, you idiot?

Usually you would be nice, but maybe in this situation he didn't deserve you, you had already swallowed too much of Aegon Targaryen filling your patience in Advanced Calculus classes (you don't even understand why the hell he was doing it, since he didn't seem to be good at a simple multiplication sum, let alone the last subject, maybe filling your patience, testing how far he could push you with his questions, obvious and sometimes testing not only your intelligence but his as well) now you had to put up with his pretty face... Fuck no, really, maybe it's the alcohol in your system finally kicking in at the worst possible moment.

— Don't treat me like that, because I know you want me as much as I want you, you can't deny it, what's between us.

You kept a considerable distance from him, even though the sensation of their hands still seemed to make your body burn, you cursed Jacaerys once more, your eyes never left his, he looked so provocative, it was his mission to make you angry and get some reaction out of you with that sentence, and that demon didn't succeed, not seeming to have the right words, even for a layman like Aegon, it was easy for him to realize what he caused, this only gave him more freedom, his smile increased, like a damned rogue, getting closer to you.

Before he could do anything, which honestly you don't know if you would have the willpower to go against, you saw out of the corner of your eye none other than Jacaerys and Lucerys talking, that idiot had really forgotten about you, but it would do, you moved away, from Aegon quickly which left him confused, surely he had thought you were finally going to fall into his clutches.

- Unfortunately I don't have time for your antics right now, I'm off to flirt with some other poor unsuspecting soul.

And before waiting for an answer you quickly left and went to meet your Velaryon boys, thanking whatever divine force took you out of that conversation, it seemed that the devil himself was tempting you, wanting you to fall into the clutches of a cursed and really sexy feline, one day Aegon will get the worst of you, you knew you couldn't continue with this little game.

You cursed in every name possible, the people who curse you, because you couldn't possibly be that unlucky, could you.

— What the fuck is so bad, that I could have done to someone to deserve this, - You tried to clean the purplish stain of some unfortunate's expensive wine that got on your dress.

You could even hear Jacaerys' voices of regret, he was going to take you to his room to give you some of his blouse to try to cover up, but some "duty" called him first, yes you wanted to cry, why were you having this horrible night, just for trying to do a favor for a friend!!!? You didn't even notice when you bumped into someone, yes of course to make the whole situation better, you would have to explain why you were on the bedroom floor, where it would obviously be too much of a convenience, your gaze was low, shame and anger struggling to see which emotion was predominant at that time

— Look, I'm sorry... I was just trying to clean this fucking stain... — You cursed yourself for wanting to cry.

— You still look beautiful with it. — You looked up quickly, yes it could only have been him, it seemed like some kind of destiny, or a possible stalking.

You rolled your eyes, a gesture that only made Aegon crack a small smile, not as big as the one in the previous encounter, but he seemed a little upset.

— How can you still flirt with me in this situation hmm - you were tired of pretending not to be interested in ignoring or not talking to him. — And it's just as strange that you're here and not stuffed into some whiskey bottle as I am here in the — forbidden wing.

— So I guess we're both doing things we wouldn't normally do, is that a sign, hmm, — again he approached you, this time you didn't try to run away or turn away, he came close to you and his hands encircled your waist, — Maybe something wants us right now.

— I didn't know Aegon Targaryen believed in fate and divine beings — You teased him, but your heart was pounding like drums, the way he pulled you close to him, how obviously you weren't in control of the situation, and honestly didn't even want to be, as your faces drew closer together

— And your lips came together, you didn't pull back, just going in, your two hands on either side of his body, while his other hand went to your face, just deepening your faces.

As things started to heat up, Aegon pushed you into the wall, the thud made you let out a loud sigh, which caused him to deepen the kiss, after which you parted breathlessly, your head was in millions, and honestly you couldn't describe the feelings you were feeling, you wanted to pull away, you wanted to stay, why does he confuse you so much, little deeper kisses were exchanged between you, your hands around his neck, pulling him down, and against his lips.

You weren't even thinking now, when his hands slid to the zipper on the back of your dress, that made you quickly turn away from him and look around, Aegon gave you a confused look, his sudden detachment as if you were afraid of something.

— We can't do this... Not here.

Aegon let out a smile with his answer, it wasn't a problem for him, he's taken a girl in worse places, but you weren't every girl, he should keep that in mind, taking your waist quickly he looked around, honestly he knew little of your sister's house, so any room would do, wouldn't it! Guiding you to the first door in front of you.

— Wait, this is your room. — before you could say anything you were quickly silenced with a kiss and Aegon pushed you lightly onto the huge soft bed in front of you, he gave you a teasing smile, and yes you knew the answer, he is a damn pervert, and you didn't understand why you were enjoying all this, maybe you are too.

You took off your clothes, quickly the excitement growing inside you, the way he looked at you, yes it was making you so hot, any irrational thoughts fleeing your mind completely, as you were witnessing the way his body climbed on top of yours, as his hands rested on either side of your body, his hands moved to his hair pulling the falling locks from his face.

Alec Lightwood x Fem reader

Before you could slam the door in his face he stopped it with his foot.

“Please just hear me out for 2 minutes. I promise I won't bother you again.” he pleaded.

With a sigh you opened the door and walked to your dresser and grabbed a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Taking the fact you left the door open he took that as an ok. You walked to the bathroom and quickly got dressed carefully not to agitate your wound. Even though you activated your healing rune you still had to be careful not to reopen your wound or you’d have to stitch it up. When you walked out he was leaning against the closed door to your room.

“ What do you want?.” you asked.

“ Well.. I want to apologize for yelling at you. Its been a pretty stressful night and I was really worried about Izzy. I thought she was going to die tonight and there was nothing I could do to help her. I get it you had a vendetta but you can't blame me for being mad, you were reckless. You acted on impulse and it almost got the both of you killed. ”

Unbelievable, did he just come here to lecture you more or apologize?. He never even once asked how you were. And what a hypocrite thing to say being as he would do the same thing if he were in your shoes. While lost in thought you hadn't realised the wound on your back had opened from fidgeting around and some blood seeped through your t-shirt.

“ You’re bleeding. let me take a look, ill stitch it up for you.” he said as he walked closer to you.

“ No, I got it. Plus you’re 2 minutes are up.” you said as you walked to your front door and held it open for him to leave. He sighed and walked out but not before turning around to say something. This time before he could say anything you closed the door in his face. You don't know what you were more mad at, him being right or the lack of empathy he had for you. The last 24 hrs have been a lot to take in so you decided to just stitch yourself up and sleep until you couldn't anymore. Unfortunetly that wasn't long for you because its like you had a built in alarm clock and you were up at 6 am in the training room on your 4th punching bag after annihilating the last 3.

Everyone was concerned about you, besides Alec. He just chalked it up to another one of your dramatic outbursts for attention. Your actions warranted attention from the clave and even though you did a favor by killing the demon, you did it with no authorization and endangered the lives of Izzy and yourself. It would have gotten anyone else banned and stripped of their runes but since you eliminated a huge threat and were still an asset, you were just suspended from field work for a month. Throughout your suspension you avoided your friends and when you spoke to them there was barley any words exchanged. It caused a rift between you and Izzy. She knew you were in pain and couldn’t do anything about it. You spent your weekends going to the bar and drinking alone and sometimes you found yourself starring out into the city from the rooftop of Raphael’s compound in Brooklyn till the sun came up. No one knew how you felt or the nightmares you had. It all ended the same, you would die and so would Izzy and everyone close to you. The only person you confided with your feelings was your friend Sookie. She couldn’t take your pain away but she could numb it for you. She gave you an elixir that would numb your feelings so you couldn’t feel anything. You took it everyday and eventually you no dreams at all.  

After the suspension you were allowed to go on missions with Izzy and the team. Alec of course opposed this but didn’t say anything.

“ Do you notice how weird y/n’s been?”, Clary asked Jace.

“ Yea. She’s been acting really strange. Like she’s devoid of any emotion. It’s like when your talking to her she’s not really there. She’s hasn’t been nagging Alec like she usually did and has been so one worded with Izzy. And now with this whole valentine thing, she’s so focused on finding him and killing him.” He sighed.

“ Do you think something else happened in that warehouse with that demon?. Did it poison her or put her under its influence?.”

“ I don’t know. I think once the demon is dead any influence it has ceases but it may be worth asking Magnus about. Maybe he knows.” 

“ You’re right. Should we tell Izzy about this or should we just do this on our own?” She asked.

“ Yea, I don’t want to keep anything from her. She’s my family and so is y/n. We have to find out what’s going on and help her cause I think things might get worse.”

Jace and Clary found Izzy and Alec in the institute and explained they're concerns and plan. So with a plan in place they visited Magnus. He explained that the only way to find out would be to dig into y/n’s mind and it would be painful.

“ Great, how are we suppose to convince y/n to willingly let Magnus do that when you can’t even talk to her!” Izzy screamed.

“ Well there is one way, but I don’t think she would like it.” Magnus said.

After Magnus explained his plan of ambushing y/n in a fake mission knocking her out and teleporting them to his home everyone reluctantly agreed. Alec remained neutral and only agreed for his sisters sake. Magnus awaited a text with there location while everyone else returned to the institute to find y/n. 

It wasn't hard to find her cause she was always in the same place now a days, in the training room. 

“Hey y/n, we have a lead on a possible location valentine might be at. Shower and change, we will meet you outside.” Jace said. 

y/n nodded and headed back to her room. She took a quick shower and got dressed making sure to strap her favorite bow to her back and daggers to her thighs. She met them in the front of the institute and they made there way to chinatown. When they walked through an alley y/n started to think something weird was going on. Clary kept looking at y/n and back at Jace every 5 minutes and Alec was walking in the back instead of the usual front since he led the team. When you reached the end of the ally you saw it was a dead end with no doors leading nowhere. You looked up and saw a fire escape and like they sensed what you were about to do they started to lunge towards you. You were quick which has always been one of you’re advantages and you dodged all of them and quickly grabbed an arrow to shot the lock on the latter to the fire escape but Alec shot his arrow at yours before it reached it. How could these people who you considered family do this to you?. At this point it was survival of the fittest so you stated fighting back. You easily knocked Jace and Clary down and then Alec thanks to your new skills you learned training. Then it was just you and Izzy. 

“y/n, we don't want to hurt you. We want to help you. You are my Parabatai and I know there's something wrong. We just want to make you better.” she pleaded. 

“ Better?.Theres nothing wrong with me. I have never been better than I am now. Old y/n is gone and this me now. Accept it or get out of my way.”  you snarled. 

She looked down contemplating before looking at her bracelet with a hurt look. Like as if you saw it in slow motion she grabbed her bracelet extending the whip to its full length and whipped it towards you but before it could wrap around your neck you grabbed it and pull it toward you knocking her to the ground. She quickly got up and lunged at you and you fought back. Suddenly Alec is up and fighting you as well. You kept the upper hand most of the fight. You knocked Alec against the wall and lunged on top of Izzy holding her down. 

P.O.V Alec 

He watched as you straddled his sister holding her down choking her. It was like you had the strength of 10 men. He had to think of something quick and  something did and he knew he would regret it later.

 Back to present 

Alec watched on as y/n choked Izzy and he ran, grabbed her and... kissed her. She froze immediately and looked at him in confusion. In that moment Jace hit her over the head and she collapsed. Instead of feeling the ground bellow her, she felt a pair of arms hold her up. Everyone took a second to catch there breath before Izzy looked at Alec and said, 

“ I knew it. it was bound to happen.” she smiled. 

He looked at her, rolled his eyes and said, 

“ This does not mean anything. I had to distract her and that's the only thing I could think of. Now if you’re done, text Magnus. We have work to do.”

bet they won't be as harsh on Alyn for his "salt and sea" comment as they were for Baela's own Targ self affirmation

weird that there are KG going to the Wall when the Starks are the ones who'd give them passage or not, and the Starks are on Rhaenyra's side, even if "lightly"....unless the writers are either are using the Starks'/Norht's open hand for more Night's Watch established by Ned in GoT OR they are flying by the seat of their pants again

so were people meant to take Jace's words abt the Valyrians writing you need Targ blood to be a rider being just a means of power and exclusivity as him being sarcastic about it, bc now it seems that he was with all the "baseborn", "mongrels", "lowborn", "House Targaryen are the blood of the dragon. If they can do it, what are we then?" stuff.

The reason I enjoy comic books soo much is because there's soo many versions of a characther that in the end most fans - if not all - end up nitpicking the characterizations they like and creating a completely unique version of the characthers that is similar to cannon but also unique and thanks to that comic books become a subjetive experience and creating shared perceptions and exploring it becames a fun bonding activity.

That's to say that while sunshine Dick, coffe Tim and waffles Steph are tropes that mostly don't ressonate with me (same for a lot of fannon Jason) I enjoy some versions of it and I'm fine with people using and liking it and genuinally get a bit annoyed with comic purists trying to blame and insult fannon because their versions are not based on cannon reality. That being said I can't say the same for normal Duke. This trope not only has no basis for interpretation in cannon at all to the point it def wasn't created from a place of love (and more likely it's creators never read a comic with Duke in at all) but because for the batfam fannon Duke only exists in function of other characthers. Things that go this way not only completly mischaracterize Duke but do that so instead of the awesome guy he is he can became a tool for help on the narrative of other characthers. Either by being their moral center or by being the punchline as they teach him the batfamily ways or some other bs. This tropes exist to put Duke on the backseat.

The biggest proof of that is that when people started pointing out Normal Duke made no sense people's reaction was to go to "insert characther THINKS Duke is normal" because is never about Duke. Since Duke isn't the plot device by being either the moral center, the punchline or the new guy who needs help he becomes a plot device as his weirdinnes and bravery becomes a thing that other characthers discover and are shocked by. He only exists on others reactions of him. Normal Duke or Secretly Weird Duke take away Duke's autonomy and makes him merely a prop for other Batfam members stories. And the fact that this is still the case and very popular (other similar tropes sometimes happen with other characthers namely puting woman as armchair psychologists, specially Cass, but never with this intencity) and happened mostly with the only proeminent black characther on the Batfam fandom is pretty telling (just as the fact the Fox Family is completly ignored even when Tam, Luke and Lucius are active members and Jace Fox was Batman).

I'm not saying you can't dislike tropes like coffe Tim or waffles Steph, you can and should interact with fandom anyway you want as long as it isn't spilling some harmfull rethoric. What I'm saying is that is not cool to feel superior to fans that use and like this tropes or insult them. The Normal Duke or Secretly Weird Duke tropes are a different story on my personal books and hating the users as much as the trope is totaly valid here (also it is valid to fight and get angry with people that get angry when this tropes aren't used).

thoughts on shadowhunters so far? also what do you prefer, show or books?

Never read the books. All my friends in high school read it so I got second-hand accounts of the incest plots. Yes, I made fun of them for reading it.

But I'm really enjoying the TV series!! I'm half-way through season 3 and hoo boy, these characters are traumatised. The more shit they go through, the more I like them. Even the characters I disliked in the first season (re: Simon, Clary, Jace). I used to dislike Jace a lot, but after all the shit he's gone through in season 2 and 3..... He's my poor little meow meow now

Alec and Magnus continue to be The Couple of the show. Clary might be the main character, but these two are the main characters in my heart. I just finished the episode where Magnus gave up his magic and I am HURTING for him

Really like the emphasis on platonic bonds too!! They acknowledge that platonic relationships can be ride-or-die, to the point that Magnus is willing to do anything for Jace because he knows they're basically platonic soulmates. Fuck yeah.

Honestly, everyone in the show is ride or die for one another. I've talked about this before, but you can tell that the characters live isolated from the mundane world in tight-nit communities. Of course they believe in strength in numbers, in never letting people walk alone, in always helping out your fellow man. Fuck yeah!

You can really feel how the characters' backgrounds shape them. Simon and Maia feel different from Shadowhunters, who are INTENSE in a way that the mundane-raised characters just aren't. They're all still badass and dedicated and traumatised, but the shadowhunters just have this obsessive, child soldier edge about them. I think it's why Luke feels so different from the other wolves, and why I dislike him being Pack Alpha. He doesn't treat them like Family to protect, he often treats them like soldiers there to just take orders

I love Maia, but Maia/Simon feels... weird. I just can't see them as anything more than friends. She feels relegated to Girlfriend Character sometimes, which sucks since she's such an awesome character on her own. When will she become the Pack Alpha of New York!!!

Honestly I don't care that much for the demon plot lines (re: Lilth, Jonathan). Give me more downworlder politics and world-building!!

I can't figure out if I did anything wrong, or if so, what, because I honestly have no idea what's going on. Hopefully someone here can give me a clue. Here's the relevant info, as far as I know.

My brother and his wife are expecting their first girl after two boys. I love Ricky and Jace, and so does my SIL, but she has always wanted a girl and is very excited to be having one. She also wants to name the girl Chloe, as she loves that name. My brother hates the name Chloe and really wants to name their daughter Stephanie. They have been arguing about it for a few weeks, since finding out the gender.

I got to my parents house late last night and my SIL was the only person still awake. We talked for a little bit, and she asked me the weirdest question. She asked me if I knew any stories about great aunt Stephanie. I was so confused. I literally said "who?"

SIL clarified that she was talking about our grandmother's older sister that died when grandma was a little girl. Our grandma had two sisters, but their names were Judy and Lynn. There's no one in our family named Stephanie, as far as I know. I told as much to my SIL. She changed the subject after that, and we soon went to bed.

This morning my brother and his wife were both sulking during breakfast. Even the kids could tell. Ricky kept saying "stop being grumpy on Christmas." So it wasn't just my imagination. I got my brother alone and confronted him. He snapped at me for "meddling" and told me to stay out of his marriage.

My brother is pissed at me, and my SIL won't even talk to me. I'm afraid to say anything to my parents and drag them into this, especially since I still don't know what this is. Either my grandmother had a secret sister that I don't know about but my brother does for some reason, or my brother lied to his wife to convince her to name their baby Stephanie. Both options seem equally weird to me. Maybe there's a third possibility I'm not seeing?

Reddit, am I the asshole? If so, please explain to me why. I don't want to be the reason Christmas is ruined.

Update: Most awkward Christmas Eve dinner ever. Gotta keep this short; lots going on. Everyone now knows what my brother was doing with the kids names(except the kids obviously). They are pissed. Weirdly my mom is the most pissed. A Christmas truce is in place for the kids, so no fighting on the holiday. However the baby is definitely going to be named Chloe. My brother very quickly backed down when my mom said some few choice words to him. The topic is completely banned for the rest of festivities, so, for now at least, they've tied a bow on the situation.

Image 4: Christmas morning update: Aside from some glaring over a couple of the boy's stocking stuffers (Robin Funko pops) everything went well with the gift opening (as well as being woken up at 5:30 AM by being jumped on by one's nephews can). I think my brother realizes he crossed a line and has been very attentive to his wife. He mentioned getting Chloe's name embroidered on some stuff when they get home. He even told mom he would do the Christmas breakfast so she could have a break and he gave me an "I'm sorry" grin when I opened his gift. I think everything is going to be fine.

I've been reading up on pluralpedia and I think we are a proxy system and I'm partially a headmate challener(?) Byt not really? There are things I "just know" about some headmates and tend to feel their emotions really strongly. But this still doesn't explain why Shimon and I are basically the same but different, to the extent that sometimes things that happen to me in the headspace also happen to him.

Random things I know about system (for my own notes but you can look too!) I might be missing things or things may change who knows. I still don't know much about us.

I am the only host that has ever been in front. I do have vivid memories of disasociating in grade school, so I know we are traumagencic.

There are at least nine of us counting me. Oliver, Fujioka, Clary, Shimon, Jace, Koko, Kurt and Finn.

I cannot access the inner world at all. I have no idea what it's like back there apart from Clary and Fujioka who has "shown" me their "rooms". Other that that I've never accessed the headspace. However, the others come co-con occasionally and have real time reactions to what's going on. I have been told by them that it also helps that I have such a detailed internal monologue.

I can feel a lot of their emotions so I often have to stop and think whether or not their emotions are me or them. But that's also a bit wonky. It's not always 100% and I do not think all the headmates are aware of this connection? It also took me a long time to tell the difference between things I inatately know about them vs what they tell me. An example being a miscommunication that accured when I noted Clary's sexuality and she got upset and thought I was making assumptions based on her personality or something and Shimon had to explain that I can't sort out what I "just know" from what I've been told.

I know headspace is technically a synonym for inner world but I'm not exactly sure what to call the co-con space. I can see them in the co-con space extremely clearly and this is where we converse when we are co-con. Sometimes I have a very weird partial "avatar" in that space and its used to interact with them but I am still front, I feel through this partial me when the others touch me but do not get phantom feelings of it in the body? Anyway It is all black, sometimes shades of Grey. Kind of like the skyrim loading screen! Shimon is usually leaning up on an invisible ledge as he talks to me. He is there 9/10 even if he is not communicating with me, followed by Clary.

They tend to dissappear into "the back" when they leave this space. It feels like there's a gap between two black walls (that just looks like one sea of black) that they vanish into/appear from behind.

I do not know how many people are in the inner world and I certainly do not know who the "gatekeepers are" but they seem to not want me in the back/not want me to know who's in the back. I've tried asking and don't really get much.

I am aware that at the very least I have more Glee fictives. I asked Kurt if there was anyone he would want to talk to if I saw them and he got mad and said he didn't want to talk to my shitty friends and everyone he needs is in the inner world but did not elaborate.

I do not know who the gatekeepers are. I do not know what the inner world looks like as a whole. I only know that Clary's room is at the institute and that Fujioka spends a lot of time in an exact copy of the library from my irl middle school.

Shimon and I are extremely confconfusing and I also have a version of his source as a kintype. I call him my co-pilot because he is almlst always here. He also is the one who gets most frustrated with being stuck in the back and unable to front. But the connection I have with Shimon is still very confusing. Someone suggested that we might be in a subsystem together. I'm wondering if that's possible. But its also worth noting that all 3 of my headmates from his source are from different sources. (I originally thought Shimon and Clary introverted from the same place, however I am now seeing more clearly that Jace, Clary, and Shimon are from all different spurces. Shimon and Clary being married is unrelated to their source)

To elaborate on Shimon and I's memories. One of us has memories of Luke being a detective as he is in the television show and the other has memories of him owning a bookstore as he does in the books/film and we have no clue at all who's are who's. It's a mystery.

I have a partial theory that he partially split durring a traumatic event when I was in high school and didn't fully split until later though I know this isn't exactly something I've ever heard of. I do not think it follows any structures of plurality, however. I'm not entirely sure how subsystems work. But it kind of feels like we are like this:

I think Koko might hold some of my autism symptoms. He only uses physical communication and has a very intense draw to cats.

Ollie (Oliver to everyone outside the system + Kurt) for some reason only protects Fujioka. I am not entirely sure why that is. I have reason to believe that Fujioka could be some sort of school trauma holder.

Kurt feels like a prosecutor of some kind. He tends to cause problems on purpose when he shows up. He is very easy to pacify though. He tends to target Fujioka, Ollie and I. He also lashes out at his sourcemates when we watch his source. He likes touch Fujioka (nothing weird, but he likes to dress them up and touch their hair. Fujioka is 100% with this however he does it because it makes Ollie REALLY upset. I have seen Ollie get violent with Kurt before and I've been told by Shimon that it was not that first time after breaking up the fight) he also just likes being mean at times. He insulted Fujioka's looks and insulted me. It seemed at first to be retaliation against me for how I regarded his source counterpart but I get the feeling more that he is pre-dispositioned to be antagonistic towards us. Even after I've pacified him and made up he gets very angry very easily and seems to want to take it out on us or his sourcemates.

Another thing about Kurt is that I believe he appeared in middle school and went to the back sometime durring high school. When he first emerged he thought I was leaving for school soon and age slid when we learned we were older now.

Finn is some kind of caretaker. He's very gentle and tends to shake me from my intrusive thoughts spiral at times.

I have a joke running theory that my gate-keepers are also two specific fictives and I'm starting to question if im correct because they won't way a word. However I have no proof of this. I have considered trying to bait them out but I think that would be cruel.

Update: as I was writing Oliver revealed his room to me as well.

All of the headmates are over 20 years of my age with (Shimon and Clary aging with the body) apart from Fujioka who is 16. The world is very small for him it feels like? Leading me to believe she is a trauma holder. When Kurt came out of the back he changed his age because he didn't want to be a teen. Haruhi stayed the same and... as far as she's concerned so is everyone else? Fujioka refers to Shimon and I as senpai as if we're in school together and they do speak to each other in Japanese. (I no longer speak it, but Fujioka seems a little formal with Shimon) I originally offered to let Fujioka use kun or chan for me and they seemed uncomfortable. I offered san and this left them confused so I stopped pushing the issue. I see no reason to shatter her reality as she does not front.

Fujioka tends to call Ollie "dad" at times and I believe she spends a lot of time in his room or he guards Fujioka's library. He takes his job very seriously. He views attempts to get close to him as a threat to her. Their relationship seems to be a flip flop between bodyguard/asset and father/child. Both these dynamics exist separately but at the same time.

While Fujioka identifies as Aroace I have reason to believe she had feelings for Ootori.
