Newly Awakened alterhumans when you are discovering yourself try not to push your entire life into the box of animal-hood. This can be beneficial but also a bit hindering to your growth. Not everything in your life and identity has to be 'animal', do you understand what I'm saying? You're alowed to have an identity outside of alterhumanity.
Now later on in your journey you might realize or decide that nothing in your life/identity/experience is human and thats ok but at the beginning don't force yourself into a box. Really think about and analyze yourself in all contexts, not just in an animal one.
You're alowed to feel human sometimes and your alowed to have an identity outside of alterhumanity.

Who came up with the fact that you have to be born a therian? ...you're making people who didn't always feel like this feel like they are invalid. YOU👏DONT 👏HAVE👏TO👏BE👏BORN👏A👏THERIAN! I didn't always feel like I was a wolf! Some people find themselves along the way. Not everyone just pops out the womb as a nonhuman. Some people find it.

Being gay is hard.
It's hard when you're the youngest of five straight boys.
It's harder when wizarding population is small, and it's queer population even smaller. So you have no one that looks like you.
Being in love with your best friend is hard.
It's hard when you can't tell if you really love him, or just love that he's the only one who sees you.
It's harder when you're in the middle of a war and don't have time to think about it, but you're often reminded anyway.

PSA about using school emails and internet safety
I wanted to write this since in the past, semi-recently and possibly beforehand, people have sent email inquiries to the official Othercon email address with their school emails. Do not do this.
This doesn't just go for Othercon either, it's for anywhere. School emails are for academic use only. Don't use it to sign up for websites or send emails to anyone that is not also in relation to the school. Why? Because school emails hold public and easily identifiable information about you, don't doxx yourself. Someone can easily find your state, your school district, and potentially your name and the general location of where you live all from that school email alone. One simple Google search is all that's needed to find that info. Strangers on the internet do not need to know where you go to school, please stay safe and don't give out this kind of information.

"Manipulative and Toxic Behaviors Around Noemata and Sourcemates: Patterns of being manipulative in regard to their and other’s noemata (‘kin memories’), source, or ‘canonmates’. [For example:]
"The pattern of someone conveniently having or gaining headmates, kintypes, or noemata that match yours, especially if they claim to be ‘your version’. A type of ‘we are specially connected so you can trust me’ gambit.
"Claiming to have known other people in a past life, often out of the blue and without much evidence they seem to be basing this claim on.
"Claiming they can scry for or otherwise tell someone their kintypes or help them recover noemata. Especially if they don’t know who they are doing this for very well or if they request the person does something for them.
"Frequent ‘sourcemate seeking’, wherein they are looking for ‘their x’ a lot and often have a pattern of making friends with every alterhuman with that kintype and then later ‘dropping’ them.
"Insisting on recreating the dynamics of a relationship (positive or negative) from a source or past life once more despite having just met them recently. Especially if it seems to be solely based on this connection instead of current chemistry.
"Making moral judgements based on alterhuman identity or noemata (ex- claiming that all villain fictionkind are inherently bad people).
"Inability to draw boundaries between them and their source material such as policing or otherwise attacking fandom on what headcanons, aus, or ships are ‘allowed’ of their kintype, or otherwise claiming malicious intent of anyone who views their fictional source differently from them. Insisting fandom has to listen to the because they are ‘the real x’."
