#something they conveniently have any time anyone tries to talk to them about being rude and dismissive in chat

It never occurred to me that I might occupy a great deal of space in someone else's head until a random but active member of a community I mod, who I rarely even speak to, sent another mod a screed about how I'm a manipulative and destructive force out to get them personally, because I told them they had a pattern of rude and dismissive behavior.
I will cop that it wasn’t my BEST moment, it came after I snarkily and pedantically responded to them about a post that I, admittedly, did misunderstand (Prior to that they had a little tantrum about being told they were rude because they were *checks notes* invalidating people’s fears of horses and implying that people who die by riptide deserve it for going into them so you shouldn’t be scared of them, so I was admittedly about done with them.),
I'm so bewildered like yeah, I haven't had the BEST interactions with this person, but like, when I'm not talking to them I'm not thinking about them. I thought about them more today when discussing whether or not they should be banned (I was against, the other for, which is exceptionally funny since I've apparently been actively attacking and belittling them, and I have finally succeeded in destroying their safe space, and can sleep soundly knowing I Won because that’s what I WANTED)
Like when other mod said there was a complaint, I was fully bracing myself for some apt but necessary critique, I was expecting the dark mirror of the flaws I know I have but were maybe not as well controlled as I thought, but the person they described is so warped even the mean brain goblin who recites all my flaws is like 'I can't use any of this....' Even the other mods were like ‘This.... seems like projection...’
Instead the only part of the rant that stuck was 'Aw, they think everyone loves me? They think I'm nice enough to suck cock for approval?' That's nice because I'm usually the confrontational point of the team, I frequently volunteer to do the Stern Talking To(tm) so I just assume I'm not a very popular mod.
#zip it#apparently I'm disgusting and manipulative and talk like a child#I suck cock so I can manipulate people and I'm JUST like their ex#I'm the worst because I didn't read the crow signs and intuit that they'd just had a mental breakdown#something they conveniently have any time anyone tries to talk to them about being rude and dismissive in chat#Even the Man We're All Here For has only become a reminder that I exist such is the power of my destruction#how DARE I call them rude and not point it out when they're autistic#bitch me too cheers#anyway they left the server so good luck out there little fishie#mind the currents

Astro observations 《3》
Disclaimer : Not an astrologer, take it with a grain of salt, only for fun.
🫧 Asteroid Orma in 8th house might be the people to leave an impression of being hella reserved in a mysterious way. Like they might tell you a story and you will always feel like there is something more to it.
🪩 Mars in 3rd house people often say something offending without meaning to and regret the very next second. Trust me it's not their fault, they wanted to say something else and ended up saying something totally unexpected. They also feel guilty about it for days and feel sad that they might have come off rude for no reason.
🫧 Neptune conjuct ascendant, they are the real chameleons. They can mold themselves as per the situation demands. Ngl it comes handy sometimes. Like I remember when I was in 6th grade I was caught into a very serious matter but I pretended as if nothing happened and flew away. When the other guys rattled me out to the teacher, she said It's impossible that I was involved and that she doesn't believe them. She didn't hear a single word against me. Lol no, I wasn't her favorite student or something. It's just that I had maintained a certain reputation among different sect of people as per my own convenience. Call it manipulation if you want, if that doesn't explain the planet itself.
🪩 Pluto trine Lilith, it's not always sexuality that comes to the mind when we hear about these folk. Lilith here is aware that pluto is her benefactor. But it takes time for her to feel comfortable in her own domain. She is powerful here and knows what she wants. Definitely won't take anyone's bullshit. Her transformation can be scary and ruthless if someone tries to pin her down.
🫧 Jupiter sextile Pluto have a deep interest in forbidden things. Learning things that often people consider taboo is their thrill. They may or may not share the knowledge but they are always resourceful about topics relatated to dark themes of life. Feel free to discuss anything with them, they won't judge you infact they will help you inhance your own boundaries. You will be surprised how normal they'll sound while talking about things that might trigger other people even if they have gone through the same.
🪩 The one guy I had a Aphrodite-Eros synastry with made me feel like...idk strange. I was on a constant pedestal. I cared a lot about him. His Eros conjucted my Aphrodite and I looked out for him a lot. There was a thick sexual tension but also comfort. He also made me get a taste of jealousy. Which I don't usually feel. I used to constantly compare myself with the girls he used to interact with. We were not dating but I just couldn't help but feel insecure. Not because of him....idk why I was acting like that when I knew I was pretty enough.
🫧 Mars opposite Venus people get sudden mood swings from doing absolutely nothing to doing everything in next one hour. Oh and they'll do it again if it ain't asthetically pleasing to the eye.
🪩 Sun sextile Saturn, trust me they do know how to control themselves and take things with a grain of salt. Their ego is well maintained and not fragile unlike others. Very understanding and real mature people.
🫧 Sun sextile/trine Moon are the most compassionate and intuned with their selves. They know themselves better than anyone else. Also they always know exactly what they are feeling at any given time. Even if they are depressed at some point they won't give up easily.
🪩 Neptune negatively aspecting Saturn, dreaming big is easy, isn't it? But when you start implanting those dreams in real life your dreams remain dreams only. Don't worry though. It's a lesson. Don't give up, try harder. Dream as big as you want but at the end of the day remember to open your eyes and start afresh with new motivation. And please don't listen to those who tell you to quit it down. Your dreams are not weird or impossible or too much. Those people are just jealous because of how big your ambitions are and how far you are willing to go for it. Don't restrict your imagination for someone else. Believe yourself, you can do it!
🫧 Pluto in 10th house solar return chart can indicate a huge change in academic life or anywhere you are working at. For better or worse you better take precautions before hand. I am having it this year with mars in 3rd house and trust me from an above average student my grades are becoming poor. If I were to describe my graph I can see it coming downhill like a water slide which is creating quite an impression on my parents as well as my teachers. Note the sarcasm.
🪩 Saturn in 7th house could indicate having no interest in relationships at first or people being afraid to ask you out but when you grow up, settle well, you find yourself looking for your better half, resulting in either meeting them late or doing an arrange marriage.
🫧 Saturn opposite ascendant are the people who often get told that they look unapproachable on first glance. Kind of the 'out of league' vibe surrounds them. Which is not always true but I have noticed people do think twice before approaching them. These sweeties are also damn soft on the inside but for only those who do dare to talk to them. They rarely take the initiative themselves. But come ask help from them and they will risk their lives for you.
🪩 Mercury aspecting chiron could indicate healing your wounds by diving into the world of books. You might like to read or write journals when you are feeling down. There might be a small diary or pages that you have written when you were at your lowest. Its also possible that you start writing a novel or something to help you voice out your pain through written words.
🫧 Sun conjuct asteroid Medusa. Damn! You could have curly hair or hairs that are a lot wavy, thick and voluminated. Highly blessed in hair department. Many people might have praised you or complimented on your hair from a very young age. This could also indiacte a lot of body hair. From top to bottom you have body hair and trust me its not a bad thing. Its a blessing of being powerful, embrace it. It's just a hunch but some may have complimented you on that too.
🪩 Mars in 3rd house can't watch porn without audio or no communication during the deed. They always want to hear the sounds, no, they NeeD to hear the sounds raw! Only visuals is boring for them just as adding some weird music to the video. No, its not creating the mood, its ruining my experience, pls stop it.
🫧 You don't wanna hear someone moan who has their personal planets conjucting asteroid Sirene. Trust me you will get addicted. Its insane and I am not bluffing. Their voice may or may not be as addictive in general but in bed? Or when they want to take something from you? You will be trapped even before you blink. It's dangerous.
🪩 What's with Taurus Mars and Laziness? So much potential and still they study few hours before exam, complete assignments few minutes before submission and still have the audacity to say they will easily pass. Like bro if that's how you pass then I can't imagine how you will top....
🫧 Moon in 4th house people are highly invested in family matters. Family comes first to them and then the rest. The kind of people to tolerate an unhappy married life for the sake of their kids because they can't see their family being split apart.
🪩 Mars aspecting Pluto. It doesn't matter if it is positively aspected or negatively aspected, there is a lot of pent up frustration and anger issues underneath this placement. If provoked or underdeveloped could result in a very sudden and violent rage from this person. Better to leave them alone in such situations.

How would loki react if he had an accident infornt of anyone :<
apologies anon, this turned from an imagine to a short fic. I hope this is okay <3
thank you for sending this in!!
Set in New Asgard, AU everyone lives
1425 words. age regression, mentioned diapers, accidents
The meeting wasn’t supposed to go so long. It was only set from eleven to eleven-thirty, but it was well into one now. Loki wouldn’t be bothered by this if it weren’t for the fact that it was almost ten minutes past his usual nap time, and he was beginning to feel quite sleepy. He had kicked Thor’s leg under the table a few times to remind him, but his big brother had leaned over a moment later and quietly told him to be patient. Which wasn’t fair at all, in his opinion. He didn’t even want to be here in the first place, the only reason he was, was because Thor didn’t want to leave him at home alone. And if he was honest, he didn’t like being alone, so that was a welcome decision, he just wished they had fun jobs to do, instead of sitting here for ages listening to old men talk about selling fish.
He had been woken quite rudely this morning too. Thor had slept in and therefore so had Loki. He had been shaken awake, quickly dressed and ushered out the bedroom for toast on the go. Not even a bottle, which he hadn’t detested openly only because he had been too dazed to comprehend what was happening. He had asked why Brunnhilde couldn’t just babysit him, but she was at the meeting too, sitting right across from him. When he had been twisting his spinny chair back and forth, she had smiled at him and lifted a finger to her lips. The chair was a bit too squeaky.
Someone began to raise their voice from across the table and it startled Loki, where he was trying to sit still. He felt strangely wriggly, he supposes he was quite bored. The shouting continued with several people joining in, before Brunnhilde shouted over the top of them to be quiet. Loki sighed in relief. He was starting to get cranky too, today hadn’t gone very nicely. He tried not to be grumpy with Thor, because he knew running a village was hard, but he just wished it didn’t have to ruin his morning.
Loki glanced over at his older brother. He looked a bit cranky as well, maybe they could both have a nap!
He shifted again in his seat, before he froze.
Why—?
Why was he wet? He had a nappy on, didn’t he? That wasn’t right. The nappy usually wicked away any wetness, Thor never let him get uncomfortable if he could help it. He glanced down and barely contained a startled squeak. He was soaked.
Oh no. Thor had forgotten! Loki remembered now. He had gotten out of his nighttime nappy, but Thor must have been in such a rush that he had forgotten to get him into a fresh daytime one. How was he going to hide this? What if the meeting went on for hours more and he had sit here. He was probably already getting a rash.
He bit down on his bottom lip when it started to tremble and folded his hands in his lap, to hide his accident and to resist sucking his thumb. He scooted his chair closer to the table.
Would Thor be mad? No, no that wouldn’t make sense. Loki had had accidents when he refused to wear a diaper and he hadn’t been angry, surely he wouldn’t when he hadn’t even realised he was without one.
Brunnhilde was looking at him now, but Loki was too scared to look up from the table. He was trying really hard not to cry. All he wanted was his pacifier and to curl up in Thor’s bed, it was warm there and his wet pants were starting to grow cold.
At the corner of his eye, he watched Brunnhilde lean over to Thor and whisper something, before returning to her seat and calling for the council’s attention.
Loki felt a tap on his arm and forced himself to look up and meet Thor’s eye. He didn’t look angry, he look worried. Thor leant in closer to whisper, “are you alright?”
Once, Loki may have lied and said yes. Now though, he knew Thor wanted him to be honest, not convenient. He could feel himself slipping more and more and he was starting to feel really yucky. Loki shook his head. No, he wasn’t alright.
Thor just frowned and ran a hand over Loki’s arm, before leaning back to say something to Brunnhilde, who was wrapping the meeting up. Council members were starting to stand and leave the room. Brunn stood too and seemed to be ushering them out with more vigour this time. Loki felt his shoulders begin to sag with both relief and exhaustion.
Thor left his chair to stand over Loki and pass words with the people leaving, all while keeping a hand firm on Loki’s shoulder.
When they had all finally left the room, Thor immediately crouched down to Loki’s level and pinned him with a searching gaze. Loki didn’t like it and looked back at the table.
“Loki?”
His vision was beginning to blur, and he knew he was pouting in an attempt to not cry. But it was pointless, everyone was gone and he just wanted—he wanted Thor.
He let out a sob and brought up a fist in a futile attempt to wipe away the tears that began to cascade down his flushed cheeks.
“Hey, hey,” he heard Thor say, before he was pulled sideways in a hug. It was nice and warm, but he was still wet and cold. He cried harder, not at all perturbed when Brunnhilde sidled back into the room. A hand rubbed up his back.
“I didn’t think a missed nap would upset you so much,” Thor said, his voice rumbling through his chest pleasantly. But that wasn’t it! Loki let out an exceptionally loud wail to get across his discontent.
“Thor, you might want to get him up.”
There was a pause, before Loki was hefted to his feet by hands under his armpits. He opened his eyes and watched as Thor and Brunnhilde took him in. Simultaneous realisation passed through both their faces, and Loki may have laughed it weren’t for how keenly aware he was of how his jeans stuck to his legs. He kept his arms held high at his shoulders, as if he could distance himself from his own mess.
“Oh, Loki… I’m so sorry.”
At the sound of Thor’s sympathy and guilt, Loki began to wail and sob in earnest.
He was pulled into strong arms again, and the large hand returned to his back. They stayed like that for a short while, but it didn’t take long for Loki to grow fussy and start tugging at his pants. Perhaps if he could just get them off…
Thor pulled his hands away gently, before pulling off his own sweater. “Not yet brother, we need to get you home.” He tugged the sweater over Loki’s head. It was too big and hung over his fingers and almost came down to his knees. It hid his accident, he realised. Thor was very smart, he concluded in that moment, even if he forgot Loki’s diaper that morning.
“You can go out the back door,” Brunnhilde said to their left. Loki almost jumped, he had forgotten she was there. “Away from the people’s eyes.” Loki watched Thor nod, before he started to gather the papers on the table. Brun grabbed them from his hands, however.
“I’ll take care of those, you focus on Loki.” She turned to Loki then, giving him an uncharacteristically soft smile and running a hand through his hair before she turned on her heel and headed out the door.
Thor took his hand and headed straight for the opposite door, the one that lead to the back of the village. Brunnhilde was really smart too, he realised as they stepped outside and began their trek up the hill to their cabin.
There was no one on this side of the village, only the occasional rabbit, so Loki finally put his thumb between his teeth.
Loki sniffled and turned to look up at Thor.
“T’or?”
“Hm?”
“Boddle n’ na’?” He asked around his thumb. Thor chuckled and turned to give Loki a smile. Loki liked his big brother’s smile.
“Yeah, Lo. A bottle and a nap, just for you.”
Loki smiled back.
“As soon as you have a bath and get a nappy on.”
He couldn’t argue with that, not this time.

I had fallen into a role at work that I was not hired for. It was convenient for everyone else because things got fixed in minutes or hours instead of days or weeks. And like all things convenient, it became taken for granted.
After weeks of complaining to my boss about the feature creep, two things happened that made me take a public stand.
(1) A clerk complained to their boss that I was disrespectful because I would not drop the time-sensitive work I was hired for to help them with something they had written instructions for.
(2) A person in a different department used my name to social engineer approval for a process I had explicitly refused to touch because it was a very, very bad idea. When the process was discovered, they tried to claim I had approved it but was unable to deliver the email required as proof. I almost got in big trouble with corporate until it was proven that no one in the approval chain ever talked to me.
The following day, I announced that I would no longer do work outside of my job. Everyone laughed it off. I emailed the approval chain informing them to do whatever they need to do to secure their processes but I would no longer represent my office to them. My boss realized I was serious and supported me when he realized how much damage that social engineered approval could have done.
An email (with read receipts) was sent to everyone informing them that I was no longer the office bitch and here are the steps to follow when something needs fixing. For weeks, I still had people calling me because surely I would make an exception for them, and they're important to the office so any slow downs will be my fault.
"Put it in writing. Email me, copy my boss." No one did. No exceptions were made. I was suddenly regarded as rude and disrespectful. I got so much old work done!
Yesterday, a gadget was moved from one office to another. The clerk tapped impatiently at my door. "This will only take you a moment, I'm sure." I didn't know about the gadget and thought a client was being a problem.
"I can't do my job until you get this working."
I laughed. Deep, rich peals of joy. "No."
"But you have to! You did it before!"
"Two things have changed since I installed this last year. I don't have Admin rights anymore. Boss has to approve any off-label work for me. No."
"Can't you do anything?"
"Reboot your computer and let me have the manual."
I took the manual to their boss. The same boss that the clerk complained to about me before. "Just to let you know, your clerk needs this installed on their computer and I can't help them."
"You weren't supposed to be bothered for this. I'll take care of it, thank you."
The clerk wasn't happy with my (in)actions. But I wasn't done yet.
This morning, I waited for other office folk to be present so when I walked past the clerk, I had witnesses.
"Oh hey, about the gadget, did you get the office manager's email about support procedures? You know I'm not listed there, right? If something happens and rebooting doesn't fix it, follow that chain. I'm not Support, can't support, won't support."
"But it's so easy for you."
"No. It's not, and that lack of perception is part of the problem. I am Not Permitted to help anyone in this office with these things. So I'm going to stay in my lane and drift."
They had the grace to wait until they thought I was out of earshot to begin bitching about how wrong I am for not helping them because it's easy for me and how inconvenient their new task is. I laughed, put my earbud in, and got back to my work without any further concern.

I've been thinking about patjulian for a while now and I was wondering if I could have some hcs? I don't mind them being for certain aus or just in general at this point I'll take any
you absolutely can, I'm more than happy to talk about them
bi4bi couple, truly
They’re very much ‘I could fix him’ vs’Ii can make him worse’ couple and they’re both right
Pat encourages Julian to be a bit more thoughtful, a bit kinder, while Julian cheers Pat on to be more snarky and stand up for himself more
Though Pat would hate to admit it, he kinds of likes how he’s allowed to be a bit mean, a bit angry, a bit bitter around Julian without having to worry about upsetting anyone
If he says something rude, Julian’s just going to laugh and it’s kind of refreshing, having someone he doesn’t have to be happy around 24/7
Julian likes it too, getting to see a side of him that most others don’t
They both have similar tastes in music and can enjoy a good jam session to a bit of ABBA. They would also both enjoy Mamma Mia and they would both cry at the end, even if Julian would vehemently deny it
(in a living au, Pat always has tissues on hand whenever they watch movies just for this, because if there is a sad moment, no matter how short or mishandled, they will both be crying)
I am also of the opinion that they would both really enjoy watching James Bond movies together - it’s got plenty of
Julian falls first. This is so important to me, I cannot stress enough how important it is to me that, regardless of the au, Julian falls first, and he falls hard
He has a week-long crisis, both sexuality and just a general panic about it being Pat of all people where he just, hides away and panics
Pat falls slower and later, and when he does eventually have that Oh moment, it still takes like a good month for him to catch on that Julian likes him too. Even then, it’d only be because someone else told him, to his face, yes, he likes you (probably Robin)
He tries to brush it off with excuses at first - oh, I’m probably the only one he thinks would allow this, i’m convenient, etc - and then goes onto assuring himself it’s just a fling, a hasty crush, someone prettier will come along and Julian will move on, and then like a year passes and he tells himself it’s only time before Julian gets bored and cheats and that’s fine, that’s okay, because it won’t be a surprise like with Carol, he knows what kind of person Julian is and there’s a sense of comfort in that
But it never happens
It probably takes like another four months before they’re forced to have a very awkward conversation about it and it finally sinks in that yes, Julian is around for the long haul
Despite what it might seem like, Julian is the more tactile partner, always putting an arm around Pat’s shoulder or a hand on his back, throwing his legs over Pat’s lap etc
Pat uses every pet name under the sun and Julian acts like he finds them all disgustingly soppy, but he doesn’t, he absolutely doesn’t
Julian only has one, dear, and at the beginning, he would only ever dare use it when they’re completely alone and Pat’s already like, fast asleep
(sometimes, Pat would only pretend to be asleep in hopes Julian might say it)
Pat’s a dog person, Julian’s a cat person, and in a living au they’d definitely end up with both a cat and the dog (ironically though, the cat prefers Pat and the dog, Julian)
Also, Pat would do all the cleaning in the house, Julian all the cooking. Why a rich kid would know how to cook is beyond Pat, but Julian is really good at it so he has no complaints
All the ghouls are baffled by this relationship and very concerned on Pat’s behalf- except Robin. He’s had to sit through all of Julian’s whining and moping and so knows it’s not just some joke or trick, and is very glad for it to be over
Julian tries to teach Pat how to play chess, but Pat is so bad at it. They settle for playing snakes and ladders, or monopoly
I don’t think they’d ever get married (two failed marriages between them are enough, thank you very much) but they would exchange rings, a little promise between them without all the flash and drama
I'm going to stop here because if I don't, this could end up being like, 5 pages worth of notes asdfg
#the only bad thing is that i absolutely can't think of a decent ship name for them#it can't be a combo of their names. like. in no way can you make a half-decent sounding one#i think it'd have to be more abstract#idk if anyone has a good idea lemme know because my head is blank

my patient’s neighbour [six] // wanda maximoff
summary: after spending some more time with Wanda against your will, you begin to realise how she feels for you.
warning/s: none.
author's note: hope you like angst! because you got it 👀 also there’s only one more part left after this so be prepared!
part one | part two | part three | part four | part five | part seven | masterlist | wattpad
"You look like you're on a warpath."
I stopped speed walking around the place when Natasha appeared out of nowhere, stepping in front of me. She seemed entertained, before she realised I was probably actually on a warpath.
"Hey, what happened?" she asked, amusement replaced with concern in seconds.
"Wanda happened," was all I said, before walking around her and storming up to the Sokovian in question.
When she spotted me, she opened her mouth to say something, but I didn't give her chance to as I grabbed her wrist and began to drag her away.
"Sorry, if you'll excuse me," Wanda got out to the guests she was chatting with, before I yanked her away. She began to complain as I did, asking, "What are you doing? I was in the middle of a conversation!"
I ignored her and proceeded to drag her away, certain that steam would be coming from my ears if this was a cartoon. Finding a private place to talk, I let go of her hand and spun around with a glare.
"Your thoughts are very loud right now," she said playfully, clearly not reading the situation.
"Then you know that I'm imagining several different ways to murder you," I got out between gritted teeth.
She scrunched her nose. "They all end in you going to prison."
Something about that obnoxious smile she wore and the way her hazel eyes watched me with anticipation was making me angrier by the second.
"How can you do that?!" I asked with exasperation.
She quirked a brow. "And what is 'that' exactly?"
I locked my jaw. "You ruined my date! You kept getting into my head all day, you were rude to Elise, and you're just– you're oozing with jealousy when you're the one who broke up with me!"
She scrunched her nose for the second time, and whereas I would have once found that endearing, I know found it greatly frustrating.
"Oozing? Really? Who says that?"
I closed my hands into fists, trying not to get baited by her purposeful obliviousness. But she was already under my skin, and ever since she broke up with me, the anger had been bubbling away, ready to come out.
"You're such a bitch, Wanda!" I shouted at her without hesitation. "You don't care that you just ruined my chance at moving on! Six months has passed since you broke up with me – you don't get to be jealous! I had to learn to be without you because you gave up on us and that's on you! So, you don't get to be here and make me feel bad for having a chance at a date because you can't make up your mind about us. It's not fair!"
My shoulders relaxed as I got my thoughts out, the anger still present but not as heavy on my back. She was infuriating as I watched her. Barely fazed by my words, a small smile played on her lips. She did nothing to acknowledge my mini speech, instead waiting for me to say something else.
"Seriously?!" I squeaked, my voice rising with annoyance. "Nothing?!"
As if pulled from a daydream, she straightened up and seemed confused. "Huh?"
I groaned loudly, eyebrows raised with disbelief. "For God's sake, Wanda!" Running out of patience, I shook my head and glared harshly. "I want you to stay away from me. You don't get to be in my life like this. And just in case you don't understand what I'm saying, here's something you will. Otvali (fuck off)!"
Not bothering to wait for a response, I stomped past her and didn't look back. As I was walking away, a tear slipped from my eye and I whipped it away without question. She didn't get to do this to me, not again. It wasn't fair.
—
Despite practically yelling in Wanda's face to stay away from me, she didn't take the hint. Instead, I proceeded to see her two more times in places I least expected it. To be fair, I don't think she did it on purpose. But she could have easily walked the other way and pretended not to see me. Instead, she thought it would be best to piss me off further.
The first time was when I was at a park with a new patient I was caring for. He was wheelchair-bound, so I pushed him around as we spoke to pass the time. We eventually stopped at a newspaper stand since he wanted to buy a few magazines, and that's when I conveniently got bumped into by the Sokovian witch.
"Y/N, hey!" she exclaimed when I turned to see who was there. She had a wide smile on her face, eyes shining bright under the sun. Admittedly, it took my breath away for a second, as I didn't expect it in the slightest. But then I remembered who it was and tried to ignore the way my heart rate sped up.
"Hello," I mumbled, before looking back to the newspaper stand with hopes she'd go away.
"And who is this beautiful young woman, Y/N?" my patient, Dayton, asked as he noticed her beside me.
I pursed my lips, trying to figure out the best response without earning more questions from Dayton, but Wanda decided to answer instead.
"We were girlfriends," she told Dayton with a grin, eyes glancing to me.
"Key word being were," I added quickly, shooting her a look, before looking to Dayton. "It's not a big deal."
"It may not be to you, but it's good to see you, moya lyubov' (my love)," she said softly, grin fading into a genuine smile.
"Don't call me that," I snapped, hating the way her words had such an effect on me. Her stupid accent and her stupid smile and her stupid pretty eyes. Hated it all.
"Ooh, what does that mean?" Dayton asked, looking up between us.
"Nothing, Dayton," I told him calmly, before nodding to the stand. "Just buy your magazines whilst I talk to Wanda."
He shrugged and did as I said, leaving me a moment to stand back and look to Wanda disapprovingly.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, lowering my voice so I wouldn't make a scene. Nothing was accidental with her.
"Just enjoying a walk through the park," she answered with a shrug.
I rolled my eyes. "Well, enjoy your walk."
As I made an attempt to leave, she stepped in front of me suddenly.
"Wait, can we talk?" she asked, losing any sense of mischief.
"No," I deadpanned. "Now, can I leave?"
She frowned, eyes pleading. "Please?"
"I said no."
She sighed, glancing around with irritation. Her eyes settled on the flower stand beside the newspaper stand and I didn't have chance to question what she was thinking before her eyes began to glow red. Raising her hand conspicuously, red wisps of energy appeared and she levitated a single flower from one of the many bouquets, hovering it before me.
"For you," she said, and I ripped it out of the air, frantically looking around in case anyone saw.
"Very clever," I said sarcastically, before looking at the flower and shaking my head. "Stealing isn't cool, by the way."
I dropped the flower on the ground and walked away, my foot stepping on it as I did. She needed to get a damn hint.
—
The second time Wanda reappeared in my life was when Anna invited me to Sasha's home for a visit. I'd been once before, a few weeks after she'd moved in with her granddaughter's family, but not since then. This time, she'd invited me over again to catch up and I assumed it would just be me and her family; Oh, how wrong I was.
Sasha and her family were pretty wealthy, their house sitting on the outskirts of New York and on its own private land. She was a lawyer, hence the wealth, and her home was absolutely stunning with its high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and three floor structure. Even as I parked out front for the second time in my life, I was blown away.
As I got out of my car and locked it, I noticed another car parking out front – a taxi, dropping someone off. Curious, I waited to see who it was. My eyes narrowed when I noticed a familiar face exiting the taxi and paying the driver. When the taxi drove off, Wanda saw me and began to smile with amusement, joining me at the front door.
"The stalking is getting creepy you know," I told her when she stood by my side.
I knocked on the door using the giant knocker and waited patiently for someone to answer.
"I'd love to take the credit for this," Wanda answered, and I could see her smug smile in my peripheral, "but I was invited by Anna."
I swallowed hard, resisting the urge to roll my eyes, both at Wanda's presence and Anna's secrecy. "Of course she did..."
The door opened to reveal none other than Anna Pivec herself, balancing on her cane and grinning at the sight of Wanda and I.
"Devushki (girls), you made it!" she exclaimed with delight, before stepping to the side. "Please, come on in!"
We both entered her home and watched as she closed the door before giving us both a big hug without warning.
"Oh, okay," I mumbled, but wrapped an arm around her gently. "It's good to see you, too, Anna."
Anna laughed wholeheartedly before pulling away. "I'm sorry. I just missed you both is all. It's so good to have you here, together again. Just like old times."
I forced a small smile, knowing what she meant but also feeling a pang in my heart because it wasn't completely like old times, not really. Naturally, my eyes fell to Wanda who was already looking my way, a similar expression on her face. I wondered if she was thinking the same.
"C'mon, I'll bring you to the kitchen where everybody else is," Anna said, already leading the way. "They're excited to have you over again."
"You didn't mention Wanda would be here, too," I noted as she led us through the main hall.
"Oh, didn't I?" she replied, feigning confusion. "I must have forgotten."
"Hmm." I pursed my lips, ignoring the obnoxious smile that returned to Wanda's lips as we followed Anna.
She led us to the kitchen where Sasha and her husband were preparing some food for the supposed barbecue we'd be having. I'd met her husband the last time I visited, so it was easy to get reacquainted with them both as we met them again.
After a brief catch up, Wanda and I offered to help with the food, but Sasha insisted we take a break and hang out with the twins – her kids – whilst they cooked it up outside. So, I soon found myself heading to the living room with Wanda as Anna went to fetch the twins from their bedrooms upstairs.
I wasn't exactly keen on being left alone with Wanda, so I decided not to say anything and simply keep to myself as we waited for Anna's return. Killing time, I wandered around the living room and looked at the family photos hung on the wall. It was the same as last time, except now there were a few new additions, clearly from Anna, which made me smile without thinking.
They were of Wanda, Anna and I, back when I used to care for her and we'd hang out at her apartment. Some were in the apartment itself whilst others were from places we'd visited together on different occasions. I recognised a handful of them from when Wanda and I were just friends and a few more from when we were a couple. It was clear in the photos which were which, as Wanda was holding my waist and grinning from ear to ear, myself doing the same. For a split second, I almost forgot she'd broken my heart.
"Wow, we looked really cute together, didn't we?" her stupid Sokovian accent sounded by my ear, and I lost my smile when I felt Wanda's presence stood a little too close to me.
She was looking over my shoulder at the photos on the wall and I tried not to get frustrated, but she made it impossible.
"Yeah, we were," I agreed, noticing the surprise on her face at my words, but then I continued, "until you dumped me because you were too scared to stay in a relationship."
Her smile faded at my words and I left her standing there, instead going to the couch to wait there. I wasn't sure why Anna had kept those photographs of us, but I wished she hadn't.
After what felt like forever, Anna finally returned with her two great-grandkids in tow. Alex and Marina, both seven-years-old, grinned adorably at Wanda and I, betraying their missing teeth.
"Well, look who it is," Wanda said with a bright smile, bending over and putting her hands on her knees. "My favourite set of twins."
Despite how annoying she was, I couldn't help but smile at the way she treated kids. She was always so good with them generally, way better than I was.
"G.G. said we could play Mario Kart," Marina said behind a nervous smile, looking between us. "Can we?"
G.G. was what they called Anna – short for 'great-grandmother'. I found it cute that they accepted her into the family so easily, like no time had been missed.
"I think we can," I said with a warm smile. "But I can't promise we'll take it easy on you."
Alex fist-pumped with excitement before running to the TV to set up his Nintendo Switch. Marina, the calmer of the two, motioned for Wanda and I to take a seat on the couch with her. Anna joined us, taking her place on the recliner, and watched with amusement.
Wanda and I had never actually visited them together, so it was refreshing to see how excited they got around her. Clearly she'd made an impression last time.
"For you," Alex said politely, holding out a controller to me.
"Why thank you," I said, accepting it. "So polite."
He seemed embarrassed as he did the same with Wanda, who hadn't stopped smiling since they came in. After handing his sister a controller, he joined us on the couch, forcing everyone to move up a little and making Wanda press closer to me at the end of the seat. I gave her a knowing look to which she smiled innocently, making me roll my eyes.
"You not gonna have a go, Anna?" Wanda teased Anna as Alex began to set up the game.
"The moving cars makes my head spin," the older Sokovian woman admitted. "You guys enjoy though."
Soon enough, the first game commenced and I was surprised at how competitive I was being, adamant on at least beating Wanda if not the twins. They, of course, spent all their time playing this, so Marina won Wanda and I easily. Wanda came in fourth, I came in third and Alex came in second.
"You just got lucky," Wanda said with a shrug, glancing at me.
"If you say so," I played along, a ghost of a smile on my lips.
"I'm being Toad this time!" Marina exclaimed as Alex set up the next round.
"I'll be Princess Peach," Wanda decided nonchalantly.
"She won't help you win," I said without thinking.
"We'll see, milashka (cutie)," she responded with a playful smile.
I nudged her in the arm, signalling for her to not call me that, but she only smiled wider as she looked back to the screen.
We had a few more rounds, Wanda winning none of them and Marina winning all of them, when Alex began to complain.
"It's not fair, you have to be cheating!" he said to his sister.
"I'm just better," Marina stated casually, making me laugh.
Alex rolled his eyes before looking to Wanda. "Did you used to play this with Pietro? Did he cheat, too?"
I raised my eyebrows with surprise at the mention of Wanda's dead twin brother. I didn't think she'd tell the twins of him, but then I realised that it was only fitting to mention her twin brother to a set of twins that probably reminded her of herself.
Wanda smiled gently. "We didn't have these games as kids, Alex. But when Piet and I played other things, yes, he did cheat."
Alex sighed, glancing at his sister with distaste before looking to me. "Did you used to play this when you were younger, Y/N?"
"Kind of... I mean, I don't have any brothers or sisters, so I used to play at my cousin's house whenever I visited," I explained. "And it wasn't a Switch. We had something called a Super Nintendo."
"Woah, you're old," Alex muttered with disbelief.
"Alex!" Anna scolded, making me laugh.
"It's okay, he's technically right," I said with a shrug.
"Milaya (sweetie), if you're old, then I'm ancient," Anna said disapprovingly.
"Right, sorry," I said, trying to stifle my smile.
We played another round and as Wanda and I were closing in on the finish line, my joystick began to veer left despite me aiming it to the right. I looked down in time to see red wisps of energy pushing it the other way.
"Yes! I won you," Wanda sang with pride, looking to me as her eyes faded from red to its hazel colour.
"You cheated," I said, eyebrows raised. "I just saw you."
"I don't know what you're talking about," she played dumb.
"Wanda," I said, giving her a knowing look. "You sure it was Pietro who used to cheat when you were kids?"
She grinned. "Very sure."
I studied her closely, entertained smile tugging at my lips. "I'm just gonna pretend I let you beat me since you won't admit it."
She shrugged, nudging me in the side gently. "Suit yourself."
"You're supposed to let your wife win anyway," Alex said naively, and I almost choked on my own spit when he did.
"What?" I spluttered out, losing my smile.
Wanda was doing her absolute best not to laugh as her eyes glanced towards me, noticing my shocked expression.
"Your wife – Wanda?" Alex said like it was obvious. "Our dad says he lets our mum win stuff all the time. It's what you do when you're married."
"I– we–" I paused, clearing my throat and suddenly feeling very warm. "We're not married, Alex."
Alex furrowed his brows with confusion. "But G.G. said that you weren't together."
"But that doesn't mean we're married," I said slowly, hoping my face wasn't as red as it felt.
"Medovyy (honey), they're not together anymore, you're right," Anna started to correct him, though she looked like she was seconds away from laughing herself, "but I never said they were married."
Alex didn't seem to understand still. He pointed to Wanda's hands. "But she's wearing a ring."
Everyone looked down to Wanda's hands which were adorned by several rings on many of her fingers, though none were on her ring finger, so I didn't get what Alex was thinking.
"I always wear rings," Wanda told him with amusement.
"But–"
"That's her right hand, idiot," Marina said to her brother with a scoff.
"No, it's her left," he said knowingly, before raising his left hand in the air and pointing to her right hand opposite him.
Marina rolled her eyes, already fed up with her twin's antics. She stood beside him and motioned to his hands as she explained, "That's your left. It's her right. Like a reflection. It's not a wedding ring."
It took a few seconds for Alex to understand, but when he did, he began to get flustered.
"Oh," was all he said, before returning to his seat. "My bad."
Anna laughed at her great-grandson's embarrassment as I began to flush with a similar embarrassment in my seat. Meanwhile, Wanda was biting her lip to contain her own laughter, eyes teasing me as they glanced at me with amusement.
Today was definitely not going to plan.
—
After gaming with the kids for a little while longer, we were all eventually called into the garden to have lunch together. Sasha and her husband had barbecued a variety of chicken, meat and vegetables for us to eat which was delicious. It gave us the chance to hear everything Anna had been up to with her family and for her to catch up with what's going on in Wanda and I's lives.
Anna seemed a lot happier, the happiest I'd ever seen her, when she was with family. I was glad that she was fitting in and that it brought her closer to her late-husband and daughter. This was all she'd ever wanted and she'd finally gotten it. Despite tricking Wanda and I into coming, I was kind of glad to be there because even if I wouldn't admit it at the time, it was just like old times.
After having dessert and conversing for longer than we realised over some tea and coffee, Wanda and I decided it was best we leave.
"Remember to come by anytime," Anna said to us both by the front door. "You don't even have to call!"
I smiled, nodding. "Thank you, Anna. It was great to see you again. I had a lot of fun today."
"Me, too," Wanda agreed. "It's really good to see you so happy."
Anna sighed contently. "Spasibo (thank you). Both of you." Pausing with thought, her eyes flickered between us both. "I do hope that you resolve things soon. For both of your benefit."
Chewing on my lip, I chose not to say anything. Wanda seemed to feel the same, opting to stay quiet, making Anna breath out halfheartedly.
"Right, well... are you both okay getting home?" she asked, changing the subject.
After reassuring her that we were, we gave her a giant hug before bidding her a goodbye. Once the door closed, I awkwardly glanced at Wanda before heading to my car.
"Hey, is it stupid if I ask for a ride?" Wanda's voice said from behind me.
I looked over my shoulder and saw her following after me, half walking and half running to fall into step with me. I refrained from rolling my eyes as I continued walking to my car.
"Didn't you get a taxi?" was all I said.
"Yeah, but my place is on the way to yours," she answered like it was nothing, finally catching up to me and grinning by my side when we reached my car. "And you're free, so..."
I narrowed my eyes impatiently.
"I won't do or say anything to piss you off," she added, putting out her pinky. "Promise."
As frustrating as she was, I wasn't a bitch, and we'd actually kind of gotten along today. With a dramatic sigh, I stepped to the side and motioned for her to get in the car. She wiggled her pinky, but when realising I wouldn't interlink mine, she lowered it.
A genuine smile fell on her lips as she nodded. "Thank you."
I simply returned the nod before getting into the driver's seat as she did with the passenger's seat. I put Wanda's address in the sat nav before setting off, trying not to overthink the silence that filled the car. Obviously, that was impossible, so I gripped the steering wheel tighter and glanced at Wanda.
"You can put the radio on if you want," I said uncomfortably, shifting around in my seat.
She tensed her jaw, looking (oddly enough) as uncomfortable as I felt, which was strange since she was content annoying me earlier. With a nod, she turned the radio on and some random pop music played quietly in the background, easing my nerves but not making anything more tolerable. It took about ten minutes for me to adjust to the silence when I finally got comfortable, focusing on driving and getting to Wanda's flat quickly.
Without warning, Wanda began to speak in Russian, but it was way too fast and incomprehensible so I had no idea what she was saying.
"Wanda, slow down, what are you talking about?" I asked, trying to cut her off, but she continued to ramble right over me, making me roll my eyes. "Wanda, I don't understand you!"
When I looked to her between driving, she seemed extremely passionate and stern about whatever she was saying. I wished I understood because whatever it was seemed to be eating away at her. I tried to ask her to slow down, speak English, do something to help me out, but she was stuck in tunnel vision, speaking quickly and with sadness.
After what felt like forever but was probably only a minute, she stopped talking and took a deep breath. I furrowed my eyebrows judgementally, eyeing her with confusion.
"The hell was that?!" I asked with surprise.
She didn't reply, making me curse under my breath. At the next red traffic light, I looked to her properly, noticing the distracted stare she directed my way.
"Wanda, what was that?" I repeated, raising an eyebrow.
She pressed her lips together, hazel eyes swirling with a mixture of emotions that I couldn't make out. I thought she'd answer me, but she still stayed silent.
"Seriously, Wanda, what?"
The traffic light began to go orange and I sighed with annoyance, figuring she'd lost her marbles. But then she finally spoke, my attention half on her and half on the road.
"Ya skuchayu po tebe (I miss you)," she said softly, without mischief or annoyance or anger or anything. Just sincerity.
She looked away after that, eyes drifting to her shoes, probably thinking I didn't understand. But I did and I knew it shouldn't have affected me as much as it did, but I felt my heart ache in my chest as I put my foot on the gas to make the green light.
When I finally reached her apartment building, I waited for her to say something, but she looked as lost in her thoughts than I did whilst driving.
"Wanda," I called quietly, getting her attention.
She blinked, realising we were at her place. Clearing her throat, she barely looked my way as she mumbled, "Thanks for the ride."
As she opened the car door and got out, beginning to walk to her building, I rolled down the passenger's window and called her name. She stopped, looking over to me with a raised brow.
My mouth felt dry as I said, "I know what 'I miss you' is in Russian." Her eyes widened, embarrassed that she'd been caught, and I continued, "You don't get to miss me."
It was harsh, but it was the truth. And I didn't wait to hear her come up with a response as I rolled my window up and set off again. She couldn't act like that when it was her fault we broke up. It wasn't fair on either of us.

looks left and right whispers the om brothers except they're vampires, i need hcs ive seen a lack of vampires and its just hfsdkjhf
Brothers As Vampires (Headcanons)
Lucifer
The hottest vampire and he knows it. He’s also that one vampire that everyone assumes is a vampire but only because he never leaves the house and he just… looks like he’d be a vampire???
Takes pride in the fact that everyone assumes it but isn’t 100% sure. He’s good at hiding it, and that’s what’s important to him. He’d hate for anyone to find out, do you know how much harder that would make his life?
He still has to eat though…
Y’all ever seen uh… Fright Night? From the 80’s? He’s like, Jerry Dandrige type vampire, and he goes out and it’s kind of like a buffet because he knows he can get whoever he wants to come home with him because he is the hottest vampire and he can drink all the blood he wants. He’s killing it, figuratively and literally.
Mammon
He’s hot, but he’s not very smart. He goes into the sun because he “forgot” that it would hurt him. Eats garlic because it tastes good but then complains that his stomach hurts for the rest of the night. He’s one of those vampires… generally entertaining.
Very greedy with his “food” though. Any human that he brings back to the house is his human, and he’s not sharing with anyone. Feeding time is the only time he becomes serious when being a vampire.
Not good at hiding it at all though…
He will literally go up to people on the street and be like “lemme bite you. Lemme bite you pleeeease.” But people think he’s joking or really bad at flirting, so they go home with him anyway. It’s kind of become his thing. If he acts dumb enough, people will think he’s cute and he still gets to eat.
Leviathan
Nosferatu type creepy, but cute. He usually keeps himself locked up in his room, feeling like he’s “lesser than” his vampire brothers, even though he’s not.
Usually he’ll creep around the hallways of the house at night which creeps his brothers out even though it’s normal for vampires to be awake at night… He just doesn’t say anything and it makes them a little uncomfortable.
Very jealous of his older brothers…
They’re able to get food so easily, and he just comes off as awkward or strange. There’s always one “lucky” person who falls for his nervously charming demeanor and he gets to take them home. He usually feels bad about it after he’s done feeding though, that person was kind enough to go home with him even when he’s the way that he is.
Satan
Dracula type, but instead of the bad slicked back hairstyle it’s bad fashion. Spends his eternity of time as a vampire researching different blood types and what their effects on vampires are.
He’s also the type that learned that not going out for food every single night won’t actually kill him, and he won’t start getting really hungry for at least a week. He has specified “feeding” days, and then eats regular food the rest of the week.
He’s very good at finding food though….
He never brings people back to the house, and he never tells his brothers where he goes to find his meals. He goes to the library, it’s easier to watch people and get them alone between the bookshelves, and it’s easier to slip away unseen. He feels no remorse either, he can’t help the way he is, it’s what he needs to do to survive. Surely the people would understand.
Asmodeus
He’s like the Twilight vampires. With the sparkles and stuff… but actually cool. He’s gorgeous, of course he is, and he knows that he is.
Cleanest eater of all time. He wears his best clothes when he “goes out to eat”, and he never has a single drop of blood on his shirt or his pants, or a single hair out of place. It’s no doubt that he’s eating though because he hasn’t gone feral yet, it’s just confusing how he’s so neat.
He’s actually got a list of people waiting to come over to “see him”...
And he usually brags to his brothers about his menu, and how all of them look so delicious. He’s eating well, and he’ll never go hungry because he’s always got people lined up. He does feel just a little bad, so he’ll make sure their last moments are “enjoyable” before he drains them, and then he doesn’t feel like such a bad guy when he’s done.
Beelzebub
The only vampire who has a heart and soul. Even as a vampire he doesn’t actually want to hurt people, which is why it’s so hard for him.
He’s always hungry which makes it even harder to try to be good. He’s tried to go without eating before, but ended up breaking down the door and going after the first person he saw. He’s drank from more people than all of his brothers combined, and he feels awful about it.
The type to say sorry right before biting someone….
He really is sorry, he doesn’t like having to do it, but he’s just so hungry. He usually goes home and talks to Belphie about how bad he feels when he’s done, but the conversation doesn’t last more than an hour before he’s going back out to find his next meal. He never brings them back to the house though, he thinks that it would be rude of him to give someone false hope and then kill them. He cares.
Belphegor
“I’m a vampire” aesthetic, but it’s not an aesthetic. Sleeps all day, not to avoid the sun, but he’s genuinely exhausted. “Coffins are for losers, just get thicker curtains” type of guy.
Hates being hungry because that means he has to actually deal with people. Doesn’t like the idea of bringing people back to the house either because he’d get his sheets dirty and then he’d have to wash them and it’s a hassle that he doesn’t want to put up with.
Tells Beel to bring him back a “snack pack” so he doesn’t have to leave his room….
Snack packs are easier, and he doesn’t have to leave his room to get one. It’s just a little cup that he can drink before he goes back to bed. It’s convenient, and it fills his stomach enough to go back to sleep for the rest of the day. Plus he doesn’t have to “hide the evidence”, he can just toss it in the trash and say it’s Jell-O or something… A vampire of convenience.

The light illuminating from the chandelier as u stood under it and its light reflecting on the glass you were holding onto as if your life depended on that grip, you were trying your best to look calm and collected but your anxious eyes and nervous smile were slowly giving it away from time to time you were glancing towards the entrance of the mansion where you and your soon to be fiancè was supposed to get engaged yet the latter was no where to been seen most of the guest were too caught up in their own conversations pay mind to you yet giving a glance at your direction in short intervals, dressed in their finest and pulled up their most civilised and happy upfront you were aware although it didnt seemed like it, there were some silent eyes observing yours and your families every move to catch a sniff of drama for their headlines and small flashes from the camera around you, you were unconsciously biting your lips when your left a small hand slightly hovering over yours taking the glass out of your grip you looked up to see you mother with slight tensed eyes giving you a tight smile,
"Pull yourself together sweetheart I have thought you better, Where is Wonwoo?"
To be honest you would like to know the answer to that question too where is Wonwoo? A small inaudible sigh left your lips you leaned into your mother's ears to whisper
"Anywhere but here, Why don't you ask his parents about their son's whereabouts"
You both looked at the bar where Wonwoo's parents were sitting while one of their bodyguards' talking to Mr. Jeon and he looked like he was about to pop a vein of his brain trying his best to keep his voice low In order to avoid any attention when Mrs. Jeon's eyes met yours and then your mother's she gave you a small smile and diverted her attention back to her slightly frantic husband raising her hand on his back and rub it up and down to calm him down anyone from a 10-mile radius could sense the tension in the room, everyone is here except the man of the hour. You liked her, Wonwoo's mother she was a good person that's all you can say from your two encounters the first one was when both of the families ate lunch and you met your mother's childhood best friend and his wife aka Wonwoo's parents and the second was a dinner where they expressed their wish to make you their daughter-in-law, making you both you and Wonwoo choke in your respectable food and him on his drink you were well aware that things like these are not decided over two meals in the gap of one week because the way your parents looked unfazed and nodding as If it's approval to their wishes all you could think was a heads-up would have been nice so that you could have fled to Paris or something. Wonwoo looked like he was about to explode in rage but he trying to mask it with all his might but the shake in his body was slightly giving it away seemed like he had no prior knowledge of this either as he excused himself to the washroom.
Just like that day you were alone standing in the middle of a ballroom surrounded by acquaintances extended family and friends waiting for him to show up and do the formality play the part of a dutiful son and a reliable successor of their family business. You both knew that this was a marriage of convenience and no matter what you had to bend your knees in front of the responsibilities and the wishes of your families, The heels you were wearing were numbing your feet and a small headache making it way up from the tight bun and buzz from the champagne you were drinking.
Your parents were now talking or more like assuring the Jeon's when you felt someone stand next to you looking to your left you saw your best friend looking at you holding two glasses extending one in your direction which you gladly took raising it to your lips you took a small sip and felt the bubbly liquid going down your throat,
"Gosh even Aphrodite would be jealous of you today, Wonwoo is going to fall in love with you all over again "
when did he fall in love with you in the first place you thought to yourself nodding in their direction you gave them a small smile,
"Thanks, babe," you said taking a step back and doing an up and down at their attire "you don't look that bad yourself either".
Rolling their eyes they said, " I know but tonight is about you. So where is your prince charming, it's about time he showed up-" as they said that all heads turned toward the entrance in Walks the prince charming in his slicked black hair and royal blue tuxedo matching your attire he was not wearing his glasses maybe lenses. His parents sighed in relief and walked towards him you saw his father asking him something but his mother squeezed his arms stopping him from drawing any unwanted attention soon acquaintances flocking him shaking his hands and mingling you noticed the frown easing from your father's face as your mother was talking to someone from your company and your father trying to keep up with them without being rude.
Wonwoo was easily towering over most of the people in this room he was talking to someone when your eyes met but to were quick to look away.
"Close your mouth you are drooling all over the floor," your friend said making you roll your eyes throwing a small glare in their direction you were about to make a remark when from the corner of your eyes you saw his figure striding towards your direction as he reached next to you his hands going on the back of your waist and leaning in to plant a small kiss on your cheeks catching you slightly off guard your hands on autopilot went to grab his bicep before you stumble you both never stood in this proximity let alone kisses on the cheeks He leaned into your ears his lips slightly bumping the shell of your ear making the goosebumps rise on your skin as his breath fanned in your ear he whispered, "sorry I am late, I hope nothing exceptional happened in my absence"
You moved your head away your eyes locked as you reached for his ears and replied,
"Your father was about to pop a vein if you can call that exceptional" your eyes didn't miss the red mark below his ear lobe and now your question of where he was and who he was with, was answered before you even had the chance to ask with a little disappointment bubbling in your stomach but you tried ignored it with all your might.

Yandere Kaeya Alberich
Words: 3,162
Tws: General yandere content, Kaeya being a dick
Summary: You’ve been trying to avoid the Favonius captain. He’s convinced you’re unsafe without him. If you don’t believe that, he’ll prove it to you.
"Traveler."
Your muscles tensed. The hairs on your skin raised up. How?
You turned your head towards the voice, a strained smile across your face. "Captain Kaeya!" You pushed with all your effort to make your voice sound pleasantly surprised, excited, sing-songy in the way anyone who knew you would expect upon being greeted with a familiar face. "What are you doing so far out?" You said it so very playfully, casually, as if it was a casual conversation maker and not a genuine question that burned in your mind.
What the hell was he doing so far out of his jurisdiction? What need does he have to be out all the way in Liyue?
Why did he have to show up when you specifically went out of your way to avoid him?
"Oh, I was looking for you. Asked around. Heard you were hanging around the area," He said, pulling out a chair and sitting in front of you, effectively cornering you in your little spot in the corner of the small tavern. He smiled, folding his hands together and resting his chin on them. "I just sent a couple knights out to look for you."
He made no effort to even try to hide it. He was completely shameless. That explained the Favonius knight that had appeared in the tavern earlier - you'd felt uneasy as you saw the man gaze around, halting when he made eye contact with you, before abruptly stepping out as quickly as he'd come in. You should have trusted your gut and left as soon as you could - but here you were.
When you'd first met Kaeya, you'd admired the young captain. He was brave, skilled, charming, and undeniably a very attractive man. His charisma made him a well-respected, well-liked person throughout Mondstadt, even if his reputation did include an arrogance that was just as well-known as his skill.
That was the issue - you'd noticed that trait, that one characteristic about the man that made you uneasy, that upset you so greatly that you had resolved to avoid him entirely. Well, three traits.
One, he was obsessive, clingy, attached to a degree far too unnatural for someone who had known you for such a short time.
Two, Kaeya was a little overly touchy. It was just on the border of your discomfort, too noticeable for you to feel okay with it, but too mild to feel justified in confronting him about it. Everywhere you went with him, you could always feel his hands somewhere on your person.
And three, Kaeya was perhaps the most condescending, self-righteous person you'd ever met. He was always, always right. You never knew what you were talking about. He always knew better. He was always smarter, you were always dumber. Or so he seemed to believe. You'd grown to be increasingly irked, insulted whenever he would treat you like some naive idiot, reminding you how you, some foreigner, had no grasp on reality in this world. Really, you were hopeless, you really should let him stay by your side, help your poor naive little self navigate the world, since you were so incapable on your own.
"Oh," you finally responded, snapping out of your thoughts, smile straining, trying to come up with some response to the utterly creepy truth he'd been so shameless to reveal. "Yeah, I came out here for a few days. Really, uh, pretty area."
"Mm. That it is. This place attracts a good deal of tourists," he tilted his head. "The route here is... Particularly dangerous, though. You didn't travel here all by yourself, did you?" His eye contact was unwavering, and you found yourself breaking away, opting to gaze downward. "Or were you... Accompanied?"
"Ah, I came here by myself," you answered. "I didn't encounter any dangers... Outside a few hilichurls."
"Hilichurls are responsible for quite a few deaths in the area. You shouldn't underestimate them," he remarked. "Really, that's an unwise decision, coming here alone... You really should have sought some protection."
"Oh, I'm pretty good with a sword. I can take care of myself."
He laughed, shaking his head. "Is that so?" His voice was amused. Condescending. As if you were a child, some little kid insisting on your competence. "I'm sure you'd fare well, if you found yourself surrounded by them. Or worse," his voice darkened, "some... Other forces. Plenty of bandits and other criminals walk the roads in the Mondstat region."
Isn't it your and your knights' job to deal with that?
"O-oh, I see. Well, it's a good thing I didn't run across any of those..."
"Yes, it is." The blunt statement left you feeling your stomach churn with awkward silence that followed. The undertone - the clear hint of frustration - of his voice made you shiver. "They could easily catch you off guard..."
You'd left Mondstadt almost solely to get away from him for a few days. You needed some respite. The irritation in you boiled over ever so slightly. "It's ok, I'm pretty sharp. I'm always on guard."
Since meeting him, Kaeya had been attached to you virtually every waking moment of the day - no, he insisted on being near when you slept, too. On the very day of your arrival, he'd insisted you sleep in the knight headquarters, despite how many times you repeated that an inn was perfectly suitable. It was safer, he claimed. Safest in the little spare room just down the hall from his own, where he could come check on you before you settled down for the night. The first time, you'd been startled, flushing as he stood in your door frame, thinking that the moment he realized you were barely clothed in your sleeping gown, he'd surely get flustered and leave, but he didn't, opting to talk to you for several minutes before turning away. That experience had been... uncomfortable.
He'd been everywhere you were, both inside of Mondstadt and, albeit a bit less, in the wilderness. You weren't even sure how he kept appearing exactly wherever you were - you'd be minding your own business, and a knight of Favonius would appear in your line of sight - soon after, Kaeya would always appear. No matter what time of day, no matter how far out you were, no matter what you wore or who you were with. Even if you had other people in a party with you, he insisted on showing up, as he claimed, for your safety. Sure, you had other companions that could try to guard you, but really, were they any valid comparison for a swordsman of his caliber?
You didn't need them, he could easily be more than enough, surpass any other companions you could take with you.
"Excuse me miss," a waitress approached. Oh no. "Did you and your friend need anything else?"
You knew what was coming, but he moved to speak before you could, snapping his head towards the woman. "No. Could you kindly leave us alone?"
The poor girl's eyes widened. "O-of course. My apologies." She quickly scurried off.
You'd never seen him be anything short of rude, even downright nasty, towards anyone that entered his presence. Somehow, you felt that he likely wasn't like that when it was just him - he was too clearly well-liked to be so rude all the time.
"Anyhow," he turned back to you, "I came here primarily to fetch you... Extremely important matters happening back in Mondstadt. That bard is looking for you. Something about Stormterror?"
Oh. That changed things.
"Something's wrong with him?"
"Mhm. Apparently so, but I don't have any details. Your assistance is needed immediately, apparently. Come," he smiled again, rising and extending his hand, "I'll take you back."
It shouldn't bother you - you should be grateful. You should simply sigh, and acknowledge that even if he was clingy, even if he was unnecessarily protective, there was nothing wrong here, there was nothing about the situation that should give you the feeling that it did.
It was a weight in your stomach, a twisting in your gut. Something instinctive, something in your deepest, most primal senses, was set off, a chill seeping through your blood. An innate sense in your very core that directed your actions, told you to get away.
But your trained sense of social decency rejected such an idea. He was being gracious, kind, helpful, and although he might put you at unease sometimes, Kaeya was known for being an upstanding person. And besides, logically, someone who seemed to like you so much wouldn't do anything to harm you.
You realized that you had frozen in place, briefly lost in your thoughts. He cocked his head. "Something the matter...?"
"N-no! No, I'm fine, I'm coming," you stood hurriedly, pushing the chair back as you did. "Thank you, Captain Kaeya."
He hummed in approval. "Of course. What kind of knight would I be, letting a defenseless girl wander back alone?" He paused. "I'll always protect you, so long as you actually bother to tell me when you plan to disappear." Despite his smile, there was an obvious hint of passive aggressive irritation in his voice, and you tried not to cringe in discomfort.
"Oh, aha, I'll be sure to let you know next time."
"I'd appreciate that."
You wondered how you'd apologize next time when you conveniently forgot your promise.
As you exited the little tavern, dropping mora on the bar for the owner, you felt a firm hand on the small of your back, pushing you through the doorframe. The touch made you shiver, and it lingered, like a brand against your skin.
The walk back was lively, you weren't bored with Kaeya to talk to. Even if his conversation was primarily bragging about this or that, telling you all the oh-so-wonderful feats he'd accomplished in his time, it was better than silence, you supposed. You were back to Mondstadt fairly quickly - no hilichurl encounters, although you did briefly run across a few slimes that he insisted on taking down by himself.
"Hey, are you feeling alright?" He stopped in the middle of whatever he had been going on about - honestly, you weren't paying that great of attention.
"What? I-I'm fine," you responded, eyes wide.
"Really?" he looked at you with something like concern in his uncovered eye, brows furrowing with worry. "You look... a little sick." Suddenly, he pushed the back of his hand against your forehead. "You feel hot, too."
Well, now you did feel warm, his touch leaving a searing feeling on your skin. "A-are you sure? I don't think I'm..."
"No, you're definitely coming down with something." He glanced over in the opposite direction, where the city walls were not too far off. "You probably haven't even realized it yet. I could carry you the rest of the way, if you'd like."
"O-oh, ah, no, that's fine! I can walk... just... fine..." You found yourself trailing off, embarrassment making your face burn.
"Well, why don't we stop by the Knights' Headquarters before we go to meet that... Venti, was it? We have a nurse there that could see to you."
"I..." you paused. Once again, that dreadful, sickly feeling rose in your stomach. Something telling you that something was wrong.
And again, you pushed it back. "Ok, sure."
He hummed in acknowledgement, swiftly moving towards the gates. "Let's hurry, then. Let me know if you change your mind and want me to carry you." He added a slight smirk to his last sentence. You weren't sure if you found it endearing or irritating.
Once you got back, as expected, Kaeya began directing you to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. And you followed him, all the way in, all the way down the stairs, all the way into the hall -- wait.
You figured perhaps he was absent-mindedly headed that way out of force of habit. "Uh... Kaeya, are you sure we're going the right way? This is..."
The same little tucked-away hallway that your rooms were in. In fact, you were literally coming up on your room.
He stopped, turning his head your way with a soft smile. "No worries. You're really starting to look like the blood is draining from your face... I just figured I can bring the nurse down here." He paused next to your room, then took a step back, motioning his head, as if to tell you to go in. "Just sit down, I'll find her and bring her this way."
The churning was stronger than before. Every hair on your body stood up. Every instinct you had told you something was not right.
Nonetheless, yet again, you didn't listen.
Your feet clicked on the stone floor as you walked through the door. It all occurred so quickly, your mind spun. It felt like a punch to the gut, the air knocked out of you, the impact pain pulsing as your back was slammed into the wall. Strong hands kept a bruising grip on your shoulders. The room spun around you, head dizzy and struggling to process. What snapped you into awareness was a cold, sharp chill pressed right up against your neck, and a firm knee pressed between your legs.
He had you pinned to the wall, sword hovering ever so slightly above the skin on top of your veins. You gasped for air from the impact. "K-Kaeya!" You managed to choke out. You couldn't form anything beyond that. Panic was surging through your body, mind overwhelmed as survival instinct tried and failed to find a quick way to get away.
"What's that?" He pressed his face forward, almost nuzzling it into your neck. You could feel him smirking against your skin. "I believe I remember you saying something about how you couldn't be caught off guard...?"
You were vaguely aware that you would normally be angry - furious - over whatever was happening here, but primal fear still controlled your brain at the moment, unable to feel anything but panic. You trembled.
"This is what I meant when I said you should be more careful," he muttered. "You think you're so capable and strong, but look at how easily I could trap you... I could kill you, right now, so easily."
Your body shook fiercely. You felt tears begin to gather around your eyes. "I-I just... Trust... You..." Your voice was weak, frail, trembling harder than your body. "You're, you're my, m-my friend..."
"Mm, plenty of people will come along pretending to be your friend, (y/n). You're very, very lucky that I actually do have your best interest in mind." Finally, he lowered the sword from your throat. You released a breath you hadn't realized you were holding in, and you felt your knees give way, stumbling forward, quite literally falling into his arms. He dropped the sword in order to catch you, and it clattered to the ground.
Your shaking hands grasped his arms, fingers digging firmly into his skin, desperate for some sturdy stillness to cling to. There was a moment of silence.
"You see, (y/n)? Think about all the people that wouldn't just be proving a point like I am... All the people that might want to really hurt you... Do awful things to you... Aren't you grateful I'm not like that?" His voice was deeper than its usual tone, and you felt his chest vibrate as he spoke from where your head was pressed against him. It was low yet soft, almost a growl, yet almost a whisper.
You were breathing rapidly, forehead pressed against his chest. You didn't respond.
"I said, aren't you grateful that I don't want to hurt you?"
"Y-yes," you found your voice. You didn't know what else to say.
"And you understand now... You need me. You need me there to protect you from bad people. You're so easy to trick and overpower... So naive... Imagine what could happen if you get into this situation again, but for real... And I'm not there?" He reached one hand up, stroking the back of your head. "Surely, you understand that now, don't you?"
You nodded.
"That's good. I hope you remember that, next time you try to run off." He tsk-ed, tilting his head to rest his chin on top of your head, grip on your shoulder increasing, almost crushing. "Honestly, you should really just be guarded full time. I could probably arrange that."
As you began to calm down, the reality of the situation began to dawn on you. Anger rose in place of the fear. He had the audacity to do something like this, and blame you for trusting him? You wanted to speak up, say something, but that same primal instinct told you it was a bad idea.
This time, you listened.
He gently shifted, setting you down on the bed. "Now, you really do look sick, truly. Tell you what, I'll just go see that bard in your stead, tell him you couldn't make it. We'll have to just figure something out. I'll tell the nurse to come down here."
"Wh-what?" You started to stand on your shaking legs. "No, I-"
"You really can't be going out," he grabbed your shoulders and firmly pushed you back. "Really. You'll just get worse. Better to recover faster, than prolong your illness, no?"
"I don't feel si-"
"You are sick." Once again, his smile was betrayed by the irritation in his voice. "Don't tell me you don't know about the Mondstadt influenza? No wonder. You're foreign, so you're probably highly susceptible to illnesses you've never encountered."
You'd been given a rundown of local illnesses by Lisa, actually, but didn't recall such a thing. "I've... Never heard -"
"You won't feel symptoms for several days after first showing signs. You're very lucky I'm used to seeing it." He pulled out a watch, eyebrows rising. "Oh, look at that. It's already time to meet the bard. I'll be back in a little bit."
"Wait-"
"It'll only be a few minutes. I'll be back soon."
"Captain Ka-"
"Get some rest now."
The door shut firmly. You heard his heavy footsteps quickly sprint down the hall.
A nurse never came. Ten minutes passed, half an hour. You thought about trying to go find her yourself. Maybe he was actually being honest. Maybe you were sick. You almost wanted him to be right. You would prefer being sick to the idea that he might be lying to you.
You preferred worrying about being sick to worrying about the implications and meanings of the situation if he was lying to you.
You finally stood, resolving to go find a knight yourself, ask for directions to the nurse. Something. Anything to get your mind away from this, distract yourself from your brain's racing to process what had happened just before.
The metal lock rattled against the wood as you tried and failed, with increasing desperation, increasing heartbeat, increasing rapid breaths, to open the door.

vanessa’s masterlist | taglist form | part two - pandemonium
“You know, you can still live with us right?” Your friend Maia commented as she placed the box, labelled “fine china that mom gave me but will i ever use them?”, on the kitchen island.
“I know,” You murmured dropping the heavy case of pots and pans on the floor. “But maybe living alone will be good for me.” You replied, forcing a smile. “Besides, I don’t want to int—“
“Hey, Y/N, where do you want this?” Harrison asked as he held out a box that’s labelled with “books that my grandpa passed on. HANDLE WITH CARE!”
“Oh, just set it down on the living room—“ before you could even finish, Harrison dropped the box on the floor as if it was nothing. “Harrison!” You hissed, as you quickly rushed to check on the box.
“Y/N, babe, they’re just books. Surely they can withstand any amount of pressure, yeah?” Haz tried to reassure you.
“Haz, those books are from my grandpa—which I’m sure he got from his grandpa.” You sighed. “They’re really old and fragile, so I just want them to be in a well enough condition to stand in my bookcase.”
“‘m sorry,” He murmured, rubbing the back of his head. “It’s just, why do you have to move out?” Harrison asked, frustrated at the whole thing.
“Like I told Maia, maybe having my own place will be good for me.” You replied calmly, as you neatly put the box filled with your grandpa’s books in the corner room—the initial place where you want to build your bookcase. “It’s been a while since I’ve lived on my own.”
“Yeah,” Harrison acknowledged “But there’s absolutely no reason for you to move out. You can’t possibly leave me with her!” He pointed at Maia who let out an audible gasp. Harrison was being dramatic of course.
“Haz—“ You were trying to fight off a laugh. “You two are my constants and if I became dependant on having you two at my convenience, it’s going to be a huge problem.”
“In my opinion, I don’t see it as a problem.” Maia pointed out childishly. You shook your head in disbelief. You had to move out because you miss having a place to yourself— a place where you can be at your complete worst and you don’t have to think about your friends worrying about you.
Besides, moving out means you don’t have to see Tom that often and that was a bonus in your book. It wasn’t a sour breakup per se, it’s just really difficult to feel happy for your ex when he practically showcases how different he is now with his girlfriend.
You prided yourself as a mature and well-rounded person who could be complete friends with her ex as if that’s normal. You could only keep the façade for so long.
Four months. It’s been four months since you and Tom broke up. You lived with Maia soon after the breakup and that enough was a blessing. Maia couldn’t bear to handle the fact that you would be alone at a time like this. Harrison usually crashes at Maia’s so he was bound to move in with you two. In fact, he was always there more often than you.
That was the point where you were convinced that Harrison liked Maia and that Maia liked Harrison.
Conveniently, you and Tom never ‘officially’ moved in together so you could avoid him freely at all costs.
Of course, that was eventually going to end soon. You and Tom were in the same friend group so you were bound to see each other, much to your dismay. You couldn’t exactly make Harrison and Maia pick friends because it’s not fair for anyone.
You were all friends before you and Tom decided to date. Maybe that’s why people say to never date a friend—especially if they’re near and dear.
You were coming back from work when you found people in the living room, and as if the universe really wanted to test you, it was the least likely people you’d expect to see.
“Y/N!” Maia’s voice was pure panic. “I didn’t know you’d be home this early.”
Your eyes quickly flickered between the two people standing across you before you diverted your attention to Maia. “Uh—yeah. There wasn’t really much to do in the office so I came home early.”
Maia turned to Harrison who was equally lost on how to handle the situation. I mean, who wouldn’t?! What were you supposed to do when your friend drops in unannounced with their new girlfriend and to makes the matters worse, your other friend—whom your friend dated before— decides to come home early?
You didn’t know how what kind of spirit took over your body that prompted you to extend your hand to the girl sitting beside your ex and say: “Hello, I’m Y/N.”
The girl looked surprised but shook your hand in return. “Nadine,” Nadine smiled slyly “I—um, I’m Tom’s girlfriend.”
Tom looked mildly uncomfortable but you chose to ignore it. You were becoming good at that—ignoring Tom.
You returned the smile at Nadine. You could feel the burning stares from your friends, mostly Maia. You cleared your throat and said, “I’ll just be in my room to finish the papers I need to send to my editor if you’ll excuse me.”
Before you left completely, you gave Nadine another smile and said, “It’s nice to meet you again, Nadine.”
You don’t remember how you got to your room but that was the least of your concern. You were just undeniably overwhelmed with what just happened that you didn’t even notice that there was a knock on your door.
When you opened the door, it was the last person you expected to see standing in your doorframe.
“Can we talk?” Tom asked in almost a whisper.
You gave him a half shrug and opened the door slightly wider for him.
“We’re okay, right?” He asked, looking at you in the eye.
At this point, you convinced yourself that you were numb. You never talked about the breakup. You never overtly said anything about what you felt. You felt empty. You convinced yourself that you were empty.
You stared back at Tom and without missing a beat, you replied “Of course. Why shouldn’t we?”
“Just admit that you two will miss me,” You teased, grabbing another box from Maia.
“Only if you admit that you’re moving out for an entirely different reason,” Maia whispered carefully as her eyes flickered towards Tom who was also helping with your move out.
You pressed your lips together and acted like he wasn’t even there. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You said, you know, like a liar.
You weren’t a vocal person. The idea of talking about your feelings was really difficult for you so you try your best to avoid it. Actually, it’s worse than that. You’d go to extreme lengths to avoid confrontation.
Obviously, it wasn’t healthy. You would always distance yourself whenever you feel emotionally exhausted, and you really meant that distance. It wasn’t bad at first—maybe a day or two was all you needed before you felt comfortable enough to be around people again.
Then it became worse when you were in university. You were beyond unreachable. Aside from being emotionally exhausted, you were mentally drained too. You were always buried with papers and readings which was unavoidable but it took a huge toll on you. So whenever you get a chance to get a break, you completely shut off from people.
Your friends definitely noticed it and they tried their best to help.
Tom was among the people who definitely went out of their way to help you. He would always drop by at your dorm with food or coffee—he would literally just drop them off, most of the time. He would leave small notes that up to this day, you still kept and tucked away in a box.
Both Maia and Harrison followed Tom’s approach. They would all alternate on who’s dropping what and when. Some days, Maia would drop off a new skincare product she’s been using or a lovely box of macarons from your favourite patisserie.
On other days, Harrison would drop off some of his home-cooked meals or maybe a book he saw from a local bookstore—a book that reminded him of you.
Tom was very persistent though. He would sometimes wait out on the hall, just so he could see you and reassure himself (and your friends) that you were okay.
You found it taxing at first—you would often try your best to match the energy from your friends, which only left you exhausted at the end of the day. You wanted space and you clearly weren’t getting that from Tom. You did acknowledge that he only did it out of pure concern.
You often wondered why he did that, staying, but you didn’t ask him. You never did.
Maybe you were afraid that you’d come off as rude or that you’d seem ungrateful for dismissing someone when they’ve clearly taken the time off their day just to check on you.
However, every time you’d open that door, it always seemed that Tom would breathe a huge sigh of relief when you lock eyes. Even if it was just for a quick second. You wondered about that too.
Tom wasn’t really being intrusive. Most of the time, he will leave a few minutes after you’d open the door to get the things your friends would drop off. You’d always ask him if he wants to stay inside for a bit, but he’d always decline.
Except for that one time, though. That one time that you knew you were going to fall in love.
It was the week of midterms and deadlines. You were knee-deep with papers from different classes that demanded to be finished that week, one of which was a research paper that practically tied you to your laptop and made you consume an unhealthy amount of caffeine.
It wasn’t until 2 am when you were about to go on a quick drive to a McDonald’s but saw Tom dozed off in the hallway, his back pressed against the wall.
“Tom,” You shook him gently, trying not to startle him. “Tom, wake up.”
His eyes slowly fluttered open, seemingly disoriented at first but would soon fall into the warm familiarity that your face always brings.
“Why are you sleeping in the hall?” You asked quietly, careful not to make a fuss. The walls in your dorm were very thin and you learned that the hard way. You’d think they’d put a disclaimer about that in the lease when you’re housing a bunch of university students with raging sex drives.
It took Tom a minute to fully comprehend the question, seeing that the bright fluorescent light was being harsh on him and that he’s generally like that when being jolted awake.
“Oh, erm, I—” Tom was finding the right words to use. He can’t exactly exclaim ‘I’ve been worried sick about you!’ out of nowhere. Instead he said, “I was waiting for you to open the door, just to see if you’re alright.”
“All night?”
Tom scratched the back of his neck. “It seemed that way, yeah.” He muttered sheepishly.
You were dumbfounded. Surely this was the first time someone actually fell asleep outside your door, waiting for you to come out. It was sweet but highly unnecessary.
“I was just about to head out and get some McDonald’s, do you wanna come with?” You asked, giving him a hand to hoist himself up.
“I should get going—“
“Have you eaten yet?” You asked cutting him off, taking Tom by surprise. He shook his head no. “Then you should really come.” You said, jingling your car keys in front of him.
Tom was debating whether or not to go with you. It’s been a while since you hung out, but that was the same case for everyone. None of your friends have properly hung out with you ever since the semester started.
Tom should say yes, right?
“Let’s go, Tommy,” You said as you grabbed his hand and dragged him across the hall. “I’ve been staring at my laptop all day and I really need some unhealthy food to balance out the concerning amount of caffeine I’ve consumed.”
“Is that why you’re practically bouncing off the walls?” Tom asked amused, trying to keep up with your pace with your hand holding his.
“Totally,” You grinned at him. “I need to wear out the caffeine or else, I’d have to skip my morning class again.”
“French?”
You nodded. “They’re counting the amount of absences in that class and I really need to keep my shit together.”
“‘m not exactly sure why you took that as an elective,” Tom commented, properly wrapping his hand around yours with fingers interlacing each other.
You tried to ignore it, you really did, but the warm feeling that settled around your stomach drove you crazy.
“Why not? I think it’s cool to learn another language.” You nudged him playfully which he gladly returned.
“I know and trust me, I’m in awe that you’re learning another language! erm—I guess it’s just I feel like you’re overworking yourself too much.” Tom pointed out softly, hoping he didn’t come off as rude or intrusive.
“Eh, I don’t mind.” You replied “It’s what drives me to keep going and for me that’s more than enough. Even if it leaves me little to no sleep, even if it takes too much of my time—it’s enough reason for me to do it.”
Tom stared at you in admiration as soon as those words slipped out your mouth and you didn’t even notice it. You were walking towards the student parking lot, consumed by the twinkling lights from the neighbouring lanes near campus.
Maybe if you weren’t busy consuming the quiet campus grounds, you’d notice the very first time Tom fell in love with you.
“Besides, I know a phrase in french now.”
“Hm—and what’s that, then?”
“Je ne suis pas l’escargot”
“L’escargot? Isn’t that—“
“I am not a snail,” You giggled. “Well, it’s true, isn’t it?”
Tom laughed, “I supposed so.”
Maybe if you weren’t so afraid of confrontation, you’d have an idea of when Tom knew that you were his person.
See, the thing is— you needed to face reality sooner or later and both your friends could see right through it.
“Honestly, Y/N, how on earth can your box of art materials be this heavy—” Tom appeared in front of the door frame, heaving as he carried the box from two flights of stairs.
You quickly averted your gaze from Maia, who was staring at you expectantly, and cleared your throat. “You can just set them by the door, Tom. I don’t know where to put them yet.” You said as you tried your best to act normal.
“You sure? They’re a tad heavy and I don’t want you to strain yourself.” Tom asked with furrowed brows.
All you could do was nod. The last thing you wanted was Tom’s focused attention on you.
“If you say so,” Tom sighed in defeat “I’m going to grab more boxes—Baby, you don’t have to carry that!” Tom was quick to disappear as he urgently dashed towards his girlfriend, Nadine.
“Oh, but I want to help, Tommy.” You heard Nadine say sweetly, assuming she was also pouting.
You could see Maia roll her eyes, urging you to give her a nudge and a taunting look. “Maia,” you called her out, silently pleading her to stop.
Maia settled down but she wasn’t exactly calm about it either. “I’m still not sure why she’s here.” She murmured. You and Harrison were close enough that you can hear her rambles—which was expected from her anyway.
Maia and Nadine go way back—like toddlers and playgrounds kind of way. Though that sounds figuratively adorable in a way, Maia and Nadine never got along.
Nadine used to date Maia’s brother, which already caused Maia a great demise. As one could expect, the relationship didn’t end well. She left him out of nowhere, saying she needs to find herself—or something along those lines.
A week after the breakup, what Nadine found was herself in the arms of another man. Of course, Maia’s brother was devastated—He truly loved Nadine. Maia had to be the pillar that her brother leaned on. It took Maia a great amount of time to help her brother pick up the pieces that Nadine left.
So yeah—Maia wasn’t thrilled when she heard that Tom was Nadine’s new boyfriend.
“She offered to help, Mai,” You whispered “Who am I to deny help?”
Maia looked at you as if you managed to empty your head while you were moving in between flats. “She’s been after me ever since we were kids. She’s also the reason why it took my brother months to get out of bed,” Maia deadpanned “and She’s Tom’s new girlfriend. Remember Tom? Your ex?” She said rather loudly.
You gave her a tiny pinch on her arm, causing her to yelp. “Maia, are you nuts?!”
Harrison left the two of you so he could grab more boxes, while you and Maia bickered silently amongst each other.
“You are thicker than I thought—Seriously, Y/N. Quit pinching me!” Maia aggressively rubbed her arm.
“They’re going to hear you!” You hissed. “The last thing I want is for those two to get involved.”
“Babe, they’re already involved. Tom, especially.” Maia remarked. “I see the way you look at Tom. I also see the pain you feel whenever he’s with she who must not be named.”
“I’m not doing this Maia,” you mumbled as you walked past her. Your objective was now to help Harrison with the remaining boxes. Your objective was anything but to talk about you and Tom.
“You have to face it sooner or later, Y/N.” Maia called out “I’m not leaving you or this apartment until you tell me what really happened.”
“What’s going on?” Harrison asked as he entered the apartment, carrying three sets of boxes. You grabbed one from him and actively avoided his question.
Before Maia could reply, Tom and Nadine appeared on the doorframe, with Nadine practically glued to Tom.
“Harrison got the last remaining boxes so we’re heading off now,” Tom announced as Nadine’s face painted with clear desperation to get out of your place. “Are we still going bowling tonight?” Tom asked before Nadine whispered something in Tom’s ear and left.
“I’m actually exhausted so I’ll pass,” You answered, obviously avoiding spending time with your ex and his current girlfriend. You’re not that pathetic.
“Same might actually have to just drink the night away,” Maia responded with a grin.
“Well, there’s no way I’m third-wheeling so I’m good,” Harrison said as he threw himself towards the plush teal couch that you snagged from a flea market.
For the tiniest second, Tom seemed disappointed but gave a tight-lipped smile. “Oh, maybe we can reschedule our bowling night, then?” He asked. “It’s not as fun to go bowling with just the two people.”
You, Harrison, and Maia all shared a look. You weren’t on board with bowling-night, to begin with, but you didn’t want Tom to feel as if you were avoiding him—which you were but no one needs to know that.
Maia looked at you, waiting for an answer because god knows she will solely depend on her decision based on yours. You don’t even have an answer, to begin with.
“What are you two supposed to do then?” Harrison asked Tom. Thank god for Harrison.
“I might take Nadine to this poetry jam event that she’s been dying to go to” Tom replied with a soft voice.
“A poetry night?” Maia almost wanted to laugh “You don’t even have the slightest interest in literature, Tom.” Maia didn’t mean to offend him or maybe she did? She wasn’t completely fond of Tom ever since you and Tom broke up—well, she wasn’t fond of the idea that Tom was dating her ‘arch nemesis’, but Tom was her friend and so were you.
“I know that, Mai.” Tom rolled his eyes “but Nadine likes it and I’ll do everything to make her happy.” That left a bitter taste in your mouth.
“If you say so,” Maia murmured before she took a quick look at you. She looked like she wants to give you the biggest hug. But you held a stoic look on your face—something that you picked up because you were afraid of confrontation.
“I’m serious,” Tom defended, lost in his feelings, which only irked Maia even more.
“I know, I heard you— we heard you,” Maia replied, her face showing only one emotion: annoyed. “God, read the room,” Maia grumbled to herself. Harrison had to reach for her hand, urging her to calm down.
“I really love her,” Tom whispered. That left a slap in the face.
It was a cold Saturday afternoon and it has been raining almost all day. It was one of the rare weekends that you weren’t really occupied to do anything other than to lay on your couch and consume a copious amount of entertainment.
Despite the spitting rain, you actually want to head out this time. Being confined to your desk and the university was torture especially since you couldn’t do anything about it—the four of you were graduating this year, no one could afford to slack off.
You and Tom were cuddled against the sofa— Tom was busy watching something on TV while you were busy scrolling on your phone.
“Hey, Tom?”
“Yes, my sweet girl?”
“Do you want to go downtown?” You asked, looking at your phone as you read the details of an event happening this weekend.
“Right now?”
“Mhm,” you hummed. “There’s a book fair being held at the local theatre.” You rested your chin on top of his chest and gave him a pout. You were getting sick of being cooped up between your study table and the library. This book fair was a change of scenery and it’s definitely right up your alley.
“But it’s raining, darling” Tom tried to say in the softest way possible. It’s not exactly up in Tom’s interests though.
“I know,” You sighed “I guess I’m just getting sick of this place.”
“You’re getting sick of me?” Tom asked with a huge pout. He was kidding of course.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of you, Tom.” You chuckled softly.
“Okay,” He hummed, pulling you closer to him—if that was even possible. “Then can we stay like this for a while?”
“Anything for you, angel.” You whispered as you closed the details about the local book fair. Maybe next time.
Soon after Tom left, Maia pulled you to her side and asked, “You okay, babe?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” You feigned innocence. It was clear as day that you weren’t okay, your friends knew that.
Knowing that you weren’t going to budge, Maia walked towards the kitchen and brought out a bottle of wine from the fridge.
Harrison raised an eyebrow at her and asked, “When did you manage to put that in the fridge?” All of you had been occupied with grabbing boxes that there was no way that Maia had the time to put wine in the fridge, let alone obtain them from somewhere.
“It was supposed to be a celebratory drink for Y/N’s new place,” Maia replied as she set the wine and three various mugs on the coffee table. “Obviously, that’s not happening now.” Drinking wine using the oddly designed mugs you collected over the years was a cry for help.
“It’s 4 pm, Mai.” You pointed out as you stared at the white LED clock that you bought off Amazon—another impulse purchase enabled from scrolling on Pinterest for way too long. “We haven’t even had lunch yet.”
“Oh please,” Maia snorted “If there’s one thing that I’ve picked up from university, it’s drinking with little to no food consumption.”
“And if there’s one thing that I’ve picked up from university, it’s cancelling all of my plans for the entire day because I have to tend your hungover-self, Mai,” Harrison remarked as he grabbed the bottle and placed it back on the fridge. “I’m ordering food and no one’s drinking until everyone has finished a meal.”
You heard Maia mutter a string of curses but most especially the part that she said, “This is not the version of daddy that I envisioned Harrison to be.”
All of a sudden Maia’s idea of binge drinking doesn’t seem like a bad idea, you thought.
Turns out Harrison had no intention of letting any of you drink. He was pretty adamant about not having to babysit two drunk messes in one night.
“As if babysitting one isn’t enough,” You recalled Harrison say. He was obviously pertaining to Maia, in which she just huffed the entire time. You often wondered if Maia and Harrison noticed the obvious tension between them, because personally you found it endearing. It was no question that they were meant for each other.
“Y/N, you still haven’t told us whatever happened between you and Tom.” Maia suddenly pointed out. You, Maia, and Harrison were still in the living room, silently watching TV.
You were actively avoiding this conversation for the longest time as you haven’t told anyone about it, and based by the curious faces of your friends, you figured that Tom didn’t tell anyone about it either. You’re still not sure whether that’s a relief or not.
“There’s nothing to talk about.” You mumbled. It’s not like you were lying, there really was barely anything to talk about. Heck—You and Tom never got to talk about it properly either.
“We see the way you look at him, Y/N.” Harrison replied softly. “I think there is something.”
“Look—” Maia sat up properly “I know you’re not really vocal about your feelings, but the fact that you’ve never talked nor showed any emotion about your breakup terrifies me, babe.” Maia’s tone was laced with concern.
“I remember the day you told us about it too,” Harrison couldn’t hide his concern too “We were having brunch together at our usual diner and half-way through our meal, you promptly said “We broke up” when Maia asked where Tom was,” Harrison recalled it like it was a fever dream. He and Maia had already expected that you weren’t going to tell them about the breakup when it just happened. However, it baffles them that it’s been over a year since you and Tom broke up, and not one word has been said about it.
It was silent for a while, except for Criminal Minds that was playing on the TV. You blankly stared at the screen, hoping that you’d catch whatever the agents were saying. It was impossible, especially when all your mind could focus on was the recollection of the day Tom knocked on your door at 1 am to breakup.
You were relatively busy that day from volunteer work, so you haven’t seen any of your friends the entire day—or Tom for that matter. Actually, you haven’t seen Tom in a few days. He would send texts periodically throughout the day but they were always short and most of the time, you always forget to reply.
You figured Tom was busy with his own thing and both of you established early on in your relationship that texting—or lack thereof— shouldn’t account to your relationship, especially since both of you are equally bad at it.
You didn’t think any of it since you were bound to see your boyfriend and your friends tomorrow for brunch anyway. He will have your undivided attention by then.
So imagine your surprise when you heard a soft knock from your door at 1 am, only to find Tom in disarray. His eyes were bloodshot red, tears falling down his face. His messy curls were masked under the hood from his jumper.
At first you were in panic, you thought that something terrible had happened to any of your friends—his family even.
But as soon as Tom dropped to his knees and whispered, “I’m sorry,” you had a clear idea what was bound to happen next.
It’s been silent for a while. The door was still open and Tom sat out in the hall with his back leaning against your wall. You did the same thing except you were on the other side of the wall that Tom was leaning on.
You two were close enough to the door frame that you could hear each other, actually facing each other was a whole other thing. Tears kept streaming down your face as you kept your eyes closed and rested your head against the wall.
At some point in your relationship, you prepared yourself in case this happened— that you would accept whatever happens between you and Tom. You didn’t exactly anticipate that it would happen so soon.
“Was there someone else?” You asked quietly. It was the first time you spoke after Tom dropped to his knees. You hoped there wasn’t. In fact, you silently begged to yourself that there wasn’t someone else, because you knew that you couldn’t handle that.
“No, no—of course not.” Tom immediately answers.”I could never do that to you.”
It was silent again. You were starting to feel numb—you tried your best to gather your thoughts and forced words out of your mouth, but you couldn’t.
“Are we not worth fighting anymore?” You practically whispered. It was a gamble— you weren’t exactly sure if Tom had heard it and you don’t have enough strength to ask it again.
“Y/N,” Tom sniffled. “You can’t say that.” He placed his hand on top of yours. You had your hand resting on the floor and you didn’t exactly notice that it served as an invitation for Tom hold it again.
You love Tom with all your heart. He kept dismissing it but Tom made you a better person. He made you feel like love can be expressed through different forms of things—not just words.
You loved him by exclusively making time for him. You went on museum dates where he would make cheesy remarks, saying that you’re the most remarkable piece of art in the entire place. You went on dates to watch football games—you never understood it but Tom was happy, so you were happy.
You loved him through your touch. You would often massage his back because he had been tirelessly working himself to the core. He didn’t ask for it but you knew it would make him feel better. Your touch didn’t have to be intimate—though you expressed it through that way too
You loved him through mindless actions. Almost every time you would stop by at the local cafe to grab yourself some coffee, you would always recite Tom’s favourite order on autopilot.
You loved him through silence. Study dates were gems for you. Even if you didn’t talk for the entirety of it and even if you were the only one who studied for the most part and Tom was just playing on his phone, having Tom beside you was enough.
You loved him so much that it pains you to think that maybe you weren’t enough for him.
“I don’t think I can fight for someone who doesn’t even want to,” You muttered bitterly. “Just answer the question, Tom.”
He didn’t answer. All you could hear were the silent sobs that you two were trying to hold back. At this point, you knew you wouldn’t look at Tom. Your heart wouldn’t take it—it will crush you.
“Are you not happy anymore?” Your voice cracked as you broke into a sob.
“Y/N—“ Tom squeezed your hand even more. You’re going to miss it, but you had to let go.
“Tom, if I’m standing in the way of your happiness then we should end this.” You cleared your throat and pulled your hand away. There’s a ghostly feeling that still lingered from Tom’s touch.
“Please, Y/N, let me explain—“
“It’s okay, Tom.” You whispered. “I understand.”
“You know I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you too, Tom.”
“But—“
“But maybe it’s best if we end it, I know. I got it.” You let out a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down from crying. “Maybe it’s better if we stayed as friends.” Maybe it’s better to realize that whatever you and Tom had were too good to be true—that your love will never compare to the love he deserves.
“Do you want the truth?” You asked your friends, with tears forming in your eyes. You can’t even decipher how they looked at you because of the tears clouding your vision.
Were they looking at you in pity? Empathy? Sadness?
“The truth is—I’m mad.” You gritted the words through your teeth. This was the first time your friends had seen you like this. All of the pent-up sadness, aggression, and hurt you felt was starting to get the best of you.
“I’m angry. I’m hurt.” You snarled, furiously wiping the tears from your face. “I’m angry at the fact that I can’t seem to be genuinely happy for Tom. I’m hurt at the idea he seems to be a better boyfriend for Nadine, that he constantly makes an effort for her.”
“I don’t even know if he even loved me the way that I loved him,” Your voice became quiet “and it’s selfish for me to think that way because I never fought for it—for us. That’s enough reason to keep me up at night.”
That’s enough reason for you to wonder if you’ll be capable of loving someone so deeply again.

yandere!ateez as fanboys
Hongjoong:
The moment he hears one song from your latest album, it immediately swept him off his feet from the ground and made the decision to stan you. You are his favorite soloist. The moment he hears your latest comeback album, he immediately listened to all your other songs and made his research about you that night. Of course, the caffeine boosting him.
He made a lot of social media accounts just to follow you. Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, you name it. He would follow your every move and post. But is still didn’t feel the same. To Hongjoong, he felt like he was still missing a large chunk of your life and he didn’t want that. The next night, he pulled a couple of strings and ta dah! had access to your very personal information. And he felt so complete afterwards.
To you, Hongjoong was just one of your few male fans that you adore. I mean, the guy makes covers of your songs. And part of you agreed that when he made his own remix of your songs, it would sound 10000% better than the original. However, you just didn’t noticed the subliminal messages and tones he inserted in his remixes.
Seonghwa:
Seonghwa was one of those rare male fansites you have. Being in a 7 member girl group called Starlight, you are the group’s visual, main dancer, lead vocalist, center and face of the group. Once your group made its debut, fame automatically found you.
Endorsements here and there, landing yourself in various commercial films and even coming to be a guest of variety shows. Your popularity instantly swept off and in a blink of an eye, the whole of South Korea knew your name. And your name tasted delicious in HwaLight_Y/N. Seonghwa’s fansite name dedicated to you. He thought of a name that would connect him to you. Hwa meaning star, replacing the english word and thus the birth of the fansite name.
With his good looks, he too became known amongst the fans. He was known as your handsome fansite master. And since he was one of the rare male fansites you have, you would immediately recognize him from afar. Smiling at his camera and waving at him. Much to Seonghwa’s delight, he felt like there was already a deep connection between you two. And he wanted more of that.
He started coming to your unofficial group activities. Slippiing his way inside the venue just to be able to feel your presence a few feet from him. He started purchasing flight and hotel information from other “fans” and would purchase the seat closest to you or the room nearest yours.
Didn’t noticed those red beaming lights hidden inside your hotel room when you’re changing clothes or taking a shower? Click click! Or you were dead asleep tired from rehearsals when someone barged into your room? Click click! Ever noticed how your favorite red lace underwear went missing only to come back with a stain? Click click!
Yunho:
At first, he wasn’t entirely dazzled by you. Yunho was just a regular idol manager who would follow you into your every activities and schedules. He needed the money, plus, companies like him for his tall and muscular physique. The kind of person that can ward off creepy or scary fans that tried to get close to you.
You, on the other hand, is an ex member of your former girl group but found fame as a solo artist. Your debut song swept the charts and immediately won every single music show chart. Topping music chart billboards in every country. Despite all the glitz and glamor that followed you, you felt lonely and desperate for human touch.
It wasn’t supposed to be how Yunho, naked and in between your legs. How such alcohol can make you two do things that violates his contract with you. One night was all it takes for him to see a completely different side of you. And he wanted more of that.
Yunho became more protective towards you. Becoming more aggressive to anyone who dares lay a hand on you. Even going as far as sleeping in one bed with you as he thinks “its completely necessary, who know, someone might be barging into your room in the middle of the night?” You can never get away from him. Companies like him, remember? With his clean records, your company would do anything to keep him signed with you.
Yeosang:
Channel YNbyYS is a youtube channel run by Yeosang. It’s the platform wherein he posts his dance covers to your group’s songs. With a bit of his dancing elements and the original choreography of your group, the blend came out much nicer than what everyone expected. His heart leaped more at the idea of you endorsing a chicken brand. From that day forward, he became a regular of the certain chicken brand nearest to him.
Yeosang may seem like a complete innocent and harmless fanboy. But do you ever what he is behind his dance covering youtube channel? Why, he is the second most influential person in your company. The son of your own CEO. He had his very own place within the company. And he uses it to the extent of getting closer to you.
The gifts that came into your company? Those are ALL Yeosang’s gifts for you. From the dresses to the shoes. He shamelessly threw away other gifts’ that were for you because according to him “he is the only relevant and special person that can offer you gifts”. Anything else is directly to the bin.
And you wonder how your “fans” know your taste in fashion.
Mingi:
Mingi, before being blacklisted by your company, was just a regular fanboy of your group. You were the group’s main rapper and the lyrics to your bars spoke volumes to him. He was just casually listening to your verses and mixtapes until one day, he realized that he wanted to be more than just your fanboy.
It started slowly when he would attend your group’s fansigns and even follow you towards the airport. But the bodyguards prevented him from coming anymore closer to you. And so he did the unthinkable. Knocking down a bodyguard that was shielding you and enveloping you in his arms. His heartbeat raced and he felt a second heartbeat between his pants. With you in his arms, he only realized how petite yet handful you are. Hands running all over your body, burying his nose in your hair inhaling that soft and sweet strawberry shampoo that you use.
Despite being blacklisted, he never cared about going public and meeting you at your group or individual activities. Instead, he resorted to barging into your dorm. Whether you’re home or not.
San:
You are your group’s maknae and visual. Dubbed as Korea’s IT Girl, your face can be found anywhere in Seoul. From commercial films to leading Korean dramas, releasing your own solo album and attending fashion weeks, you are always the talk of the town. Whenever your name comes up, its always met with praises. Of course, the people loves you! You are a crowd and fan favorite.
And you had managed to capture the eyes and heart of San. Calling himself as your number 1 fan. He was never absent in any of your activities. Getting front row seats in your concerts, being present at your variety shows and even buying products that you endorse - soju, cosmetics, literally anything.
To your fans, he is the biggest fanboy you ever had. And it was quite entertaining to watch him profess his love to you. You even chuckled a few of his pick up lines that he threw at you during your fansigns. When asked if you had anything memorable that a fan ever did to you, the answer would always be San.
Behind closed doors, San kept a dirty secret. Remember how he always gets front row seats to your concerts? He hid a camera in his clothes to film your upskirt. Beating his meat every night to his own collection of your tight and revealing clothing. Remember how you would endorse anything? He’d buy it and imagine how ripping it off your body feels like. His greatest possession? Your black lingerie. Too bad, you’re never getting it back.
Wooyoung:
ForYN is a website account run by Wooyoung. He regularly updates his content - from posting your pictures that are uploaded today, to your daily activities, the products you use and a little sub website from his channel wherein he writes poems and graphical fanfiction of himself with you. But of course no one would ever read between the lines. The way how Wooyoung would write would be so poetical and endearing that it? doesn’t? have? any? hidden? meaning?
He only came once to your fansign and gave you a pink teddybear. It wasn’t the best gift you owned but you liked it somehow. There was something about the teddybear that you didn’t know why you’re into it. Its just a plain gift but everytime you look at it, its as if you’re drawn to it.
Maybe becuase you didn’t noticed how it has camera eyes?
Wooyoung’s love for you deepened when he caught you humping on the pink teddybear. Cum splattering all over its face. It was just one gift, but it was everything to you.
And Wooyoung’s working on the next entry for his fanfiction.
Jongho:
For today, you were having your own vlive. Doing what you called a YN mukbang. As the convenient food store you bought was placed on the table, you began to greet yours fans, asking them how they are feeling before digging in your food. Among the hundreds and thousands of viewers, Jongho was one of them.
He was engrossed in two things: one, how adorable and beautiful you look despite just eating. Second, the rude comments that were popping up in your live video. Rude remarks of body shaming were what caught his attention. He took his time digging deeper into someone else’s username and IP address. Once he got a hold of their information, he would report those comments and head out. In his disguise while hunting the people who made disguisting remarks at you. No one should ever make such remarks to a goddess.

Ch. 1 / Ch. 17 / Ch. 19 (ao3)
Chapter 18: It’s the Little Moments
Felix grumbled to himself as he picked up his tie to pull it around his neck. Valentine’s Day parties were bad enough already with all of the love-sick couples that tended to crowd around him throughout the evening. Did he really have to further his torment by dressing up as well? His previous suit was perfectly fine for an event such as this. Fashionable, sleek, formal- there was no reason to change. Especially when it came to this ridiculous, unseemly-
“Oh, lighten up.” His mother told him, shooing his hands away so she could tie the tie herself. “It’s just a Valentine’s Day suit, and you’re wearing it for one night. There’s no need to scowl over it. I’m sure the other boys will be wearing some form of pink too.”
Felix scoffed. “Mother, don’t patronize me. You know I don’t care about the pink color. It’s the fact that you’re dressing me up to match the theme.”
Bridgette eyed him. “And? You’re supposed to match the theme for parties. That’s why it’s called a theme.”
“But if I match the theme, other girls at the party will probably think I approve of the theme too.” Felix argued. “And then they’ll be asking me to dance or trying to talk with me in general. I’ll have to spend the entire evening trying to shoo them off.”
A laugh tumbled from his mother’s lips. “Aw~, it must be so exhausting having all of the girls fall in love with you.”
Felix shot her a flat look. “Would you want to spend an evening rejecting people?”
Bridgette tilted her head in a nod. “I’ll give you that one, but you know Allegra could always scare them off if they become too overbearing.”
Felix blew out a relenting sigh. He supposed that was true.
“Besides, even if the girls are chasing you, you still need to look nice Marinette, don’t you?”
Felix furrowed his eyebrows, confused. “No? Marinette’s not going to care what I look like, so long as I’m not a fashion disaster, that is.”
Which, in this suit, he might very well be, to be honest. Perhaps he should text her a warning.
“I thought you two were supposed to be going on a fake date tonight.” His mother replied, tugging lightly on Felix’s tie to straighten it.
Felix’s gaze snapped to her. “Where did you hear that?”
Bridgette chuckled, offering him a teasing glance as she said, “Oh, please. You know Allegra and I talk.”
Felix tisked and rolled his shoulders, making sure his suit wasn’t too tight. Of course Allegra would mention that ridiculous suggestion to his mother. Those two loved to gossip together, specifically about him.
“Well, we’re not.” He remarked, leveling out the annoyance in his tone. “That was just some frivolous idea that Claude came up with the other day.”
“Really? I thought the idea sounded rather exciting.”
Felix resisted the urge to scoff again. Her too? “Why on earth would it be exciting? You galivant around with someone, probably doing the exact same thing you would do with them on a normal basis, but you call it a ‘fake date’ for what? A good laugh when someone assumes you’re a real couple? I can’t wrap my brain around the reasoning.”
Another chuckle came from Bridgette. “No, I suppose you wouldn’t, but consider this: If you and Marinette pretend you’re dating for the evening, you might not have so many girls coming to ask you for a dance.”
Felix paused, his eyes widening slightly. That.. actually wasn’t such a bad idea. He might even consider it if the thought of asking Marinette didn’t sound so incredibly arrogant. ‘Would you mind being my fake date to help me escape the supposed hoards of girls who are going to chase after me tonight?’ You can’t convince him that that proposal didn’t sound anything less than tacky. She’d probably tease him about it the whole night.
“If it bothers you so much, though,” his mother spoke again, “why not ask Marinette out on a real date?”
Felix sputtered a bit at the comment, blurting out a bewildered, “Excuse me?”
Don’t get him wrong, Marinette was an extraordinary person and anyone who ended up with her would undoubtedly be lucky, but the very thought of him asking her out on a date felt.. strange. He couldn’t imagine asking her for anything more than what she was giving him right now, and he didn’t think there was anything she’d want from him when it came to a relationship anyway. Their dynamic was comfortable as it was. Why should they try to complicate things?
“Alright, alright, I was just asking.” his mother assured, almost seeming to laugh as she did. “You two are only friends. I understand.”
Something about the smile in her eyes told him that she didn’t understand, but he simply glanced to the side, electing to ignore it. Arguing wouldn’t change her mind either way, and in the end it was just a question. His friendship with Marinette wasn’t going to change over it, because neither of them harbored romantic feelings for each other. He was perfectly content to keep it that way.
~~~~~~
Marinette stood in front of her vanity mirror, twisting her hair into a side ponytail for the fifth time that evening. She’d spent the last hour trying over and over again to perfect the hairstyle, but she could never seem to get it right. The ponytail was always too lopsided or too messy or the braid tied into it would begin to unwind. Now, the ponytail was tied tightly enough, but the braid was crooked, and there were too many stray hairs flying around for it to look neat. How can she still be struggling after practicing this for an hour?
“Ugh! I give up!” She huffed, throwing her hands down and staring ruefully at her nearly knotted locks. This is what she gets for taking the easy route and always putting her hair in pigtails. “I’m just going to stay home.”
“No, don’t do that!” Tikki quickly spoke up, flying to her holder’s side. “You’ve worked too hard on your dress to stay home! And your hair really doesn’t look all that bad. I’m sure no one will think twice about it.”
Marinette tisked, plopping into her rolling chair and crossing her arms. “But I’ll think about it, Tikki, and I’ll be more self-conscious than I was going to be before.”
Tonight wasn’t just a Valentine’s Day party for Marinette. That was mainly what it was, of course, but she also saw it as a sort of debut. With the amount of time she spent hanging around Allegra and Claude and the others, she hadn’t had time to truly meet her other classmates at Rosemary, but tonight, they would all be gathered together for her convenience and she would finally have a chance to introduce herself to the school as a whole. It was exhilarating.. and a tad frightening. She’d seen plenty of students in passing that appeared to be less than friendly. How were they going to react to her? Were they going to be as sweet as her current friends? Or did she happen to run into the best group in the school first? There was no telling.
“Try not to overthink it.” Her kwami said softly, though they both knew she would. “Why don’t you try a different hairstyle?”
“Because I don’t know any other hairstyles.” Marinette sighed. “Well.. I know a bun, I guess, but I really wanted this hairstyle for tonight. I feel like it would really bring the dress together, you know?”
“It would.” Tikki agreed. “And it does. But if you think you can’t figure it out-”
“Marinette! Felix is here to pick you up!”
Panic seized Marinette’s chest at the call, and she leapt out of her chair to look in the mirror again. Felix was there already? The party wasn’t for another thirty minutes! Why did he always have to be early?
“Uh- j-just a second, Maman!” She called back, frantically trying to straighten her braid and smooth the wisps of hair around her ponytail. It didn’t work, unfortunately, so she threw a silver pin in her hair as a last ditch effort and made her way downstairs, trying not to whimper too much.
“Oh, Marinette, you look wonderful!” Her mother cooed as Marinette descended the stairs. “I need to go get Tom. Oh, and a camera!”
Marinette pulled a wince. They were going to have photo evidence of this failure of a hairstyle?
“Maman, are you sure that’s necessary? I get dressed up like this all the time.” She tried to dissuade, but Sabine merely waved off her comment.
“Of course it is! This is your first party at Rosemary. We must have pictures.”
“Best be prepared.” A voice cut in, catching Marinette’s attention immediately. “Claude will undoubtedly be thinking the same thing when we arrive.”
Marinette turned towards the front door with a smile, but a gasp escaped her when she saw Felix standing there. She knew it would be him, of course. She simply hadn’t expected him to be wearing a different outfit.
“You..” She paused, briefly wondering if it would be rude to finish, then continued, “you changed your suit.”
Logically, she knew he had more than one suit. No one can wear the same suit forever, and Felix seemed to be too proper to do it even if he could. However, when he didn’t wear his usual suit, he continued to maintain the black and grey color scheme, so it never quite stuck with her that he’d changed. Tonight, though, his suit was entirely red, so deep a red that she might acquate it with blood, and he had a wonderfully pink tie on, along with a pink cloth folded in his front vest pocket to complement it. The sight nearly knocked her off her feet. He was even matching the party’s theme! She didn’t think he cared for things such as that.
A smirk ghosted Felix’s lips, and he nodded. “Yes, courtesy of my mother. I see you changed your hair as well.”
A blush crept across her cheeks, and Marinette reached up to feel how horrible the hairstyle was again. Here Felix was, doing his best and looking great as always, and she was just standing there looking like a mess. Typical.
“O-Oh, yeah, I mean.. I tried to change it. I don’t think it worked out too well..” She muttered, glancing down at the ground. Maybe she still had time to take it out before they left?
Felix’s footsteps brought her gaze back upwards, and she watched him cross the room to her. His eyes were squinted ever-so-slightly, the way they always were when he was pondering something, and once he was close enough, he reached out, his hand lightly tracing over the side braid she’d attempted.
Marinette stood still, allowing him to ‘examine’ her for a moment before saying, “It’s awful, isn’t it? I couldn’t get anything to stay where it was supposed to.”
Felix hummed absently, bringing his hand down to let the tip of her ponytail slide off of his fingertips. “No, not awful. If you practice a few more times, I’m sure it would be perfect.”
Marinette blew out a small sigh. That meant it wasn’t perfect now.
“Do you have the reference you used? If I see it, I might be able to straighten the braid out before we leave at least.” Felix inquired, causing Marinette’s eyes to widen. Oh?
“You know how to do hair?”
“Not quite,” he admitted, “but I learned some of the basics during a few sleepovers. For some reason, Claude and Allegra thought it important that I had a decent grasp on the subject.”
A smile came to Marinette’s lips. That sounded like something they would do. “And you think you can fix my hairstyle from your limited knowledge?”
“Possibly, if you have reference,” Felix smirked, “but it’s alright if you prefer to keep what you have.”
“Oh no, please.” Marinette said, quickly pulling her phone out of her heart shaped purse. “Anything’s probably better than what I have in now. Are you sure we have time, though?”
Felix nodded. “I always leave around ten or fifteen minutes ahead of schedule, so we should have plenty of time.”
Marinette nodded as well and opened the reference video she’d used for her hairstyle. Felix took the phone from her and watched it once or twice as she pulled out the pins in her hair. Then, when everything was down again, Felix handed the phone back to her and let it play in her hands for a third time while he set to work. His fingers brushed through her hair, carefully separating the different locks and tying them together. The feeling behind it was quite strange, mostly because she could hardly feel it at all. His hands were so gentle, so cautious that even when he had to tug on her hair to tighten the braid, it seemed as light as a cloud. Felix was always soft like that. He spoke harshly to others and liked to scowl often, but when it came to his actions, she couldn’t recall a single time he’d been rough.
Recently, she’s been hearing that secret softness in his voice too, and it never failed to make her smile.
“Aw, did her hair fall out?”
Sabine’s voice brought the two’s gaze to the living room doorway. She was standing there with Tom, a camera in her hands and a slight, disappointed frown on her lips.
“No, I took it out.” Marinette assured over her shoulder. “Felix offered to do the hairdo himself so it would look better.”
“Oh, how gentlemanly of him.” Tom chimed in with a satisfied smile.
“Do you mind if I get a picture?” Sabine requested, prepping the camera in her hands.
“Uh..” Marinette looked to Felix as best she could. “Are you okay with that?”
“I don’t mind.” Felix shrugged. “Mother already bombarded me with pictures before I left. What’s a few more?”
Marinette chuckled. “You said she was the one who gave you the suit right?”
“No, she’s the one who made me wear it.” Felix corrected. “Something about having to match the theme.”
“Ah, I see.” Marinette said. She should have known Felix wouldn’t throw away his black and grey color scheme willingly. “She has great taste. You’ll have to let me meet her sometime so I can tell her ‘thank you’.”
A playful scoff passed his lips and brushed against her ear. “You know, I’m sure she would be delighted to do just that.”
The camera flash brought the two’s attention back to Sabine and Tom, who were both holding giddy smiles at this point.
“I think you both look fantastic.” Tom grinned. “Those boys will be falling over each other to get to Marinette tonight, I’m sure.”
Felix hummed as he twisted her hair to pin it into a side ponytail, muttering, “I quite agree.”
The comment was soft and absent, and it sent a blush exploding across Marinette’s face. That’s the second time he’s agreed to her being pretty and a supposed ‘boy magnet’. Does he ever think about what he’s saying or is it just some logical fact to him that shouldn’t mean anything? She’s not sure which one she prefers.
“Done.”
Felix’s hands fell back to his sides, and Marinette reached up to feel the hairstyle- gently, though, so as not to mess it up. The pull of the bobby pins was comfortable and tight, and her braid felt nice and straight as she grazed her fingers over it. Overall, it felt perfect, which was exactly what she’d wanted.
“Thanks, Felix.” She said, offering him a quick smile as she checked the reflection in her phone. “It looks great. You’re a life-saver.”
“And you two are going to be late if you don’t hurry up.” Her maman cut in. “Now gather together for a picture so we can send you off.”
Marinette rolled her eyes with a smile and tucked her phone back in her purse, then turned to stand next to Felix. He, in turn, straightened slightly next to her and clasped his hand behind his back for the picture.
“Alright, say cheese!” Sabine coaxed, holding up her camera.
The pair smiled. “Cheese!”
~~~~~~~
Claude’s grin stretched from ear to ear as he watched his fellow Rosemary students pile into the Mandarin Oriental. As usual, people of all shapes and sizes were here. The ‘cool’ kids, the music kids, the nerd kids, the geeks, the dancers- anyone and everyone who had a popular status at the school, along with a good group of others who counted as the stalking crowd. The younger, less-popular students who tended to follow the social hierarchies like loyal dogs. The ‘baby paparazzis’, if you will. They were all crowding inside with an urgency that only his- and Allegra and Allan and Marinette and Felix’s -parties could bring. Soon, Marinette and Felix will be there as well, and then the fun will really begin.
“Alright, Marinette just texted.” Allegra spoke up behind him. She was currently hovering around the buffet table to ensure the punch drinks were being dispersed properly. Claude, of course, was hovering around Allegra in case she needed his help with anything.
“She said they’re parking now.” His ‘fake date’ continued, glancing over her phone screen as she re-read the text. “You remember what to do, right?”
Claude huffed out a playful scoff, reaching for the platter of shrimp as he replied, “Of course I do. Take her onto the dance floor to help her get comfortable in the ‘party atmosphere’, convince her to dance with Felix while you convince Felix to dance with her, and-”
Allegra slapped his hand, coaxing a yelp from the brunette.
“Don’t touch the shrimp until the other guests have some first.” She scolded.
Claude rubbed his hand with a pout. So touchy. Why should he have to wait for the guests to eat? If they wanted shrimp, they should come up and get some. Why can’t he have the food that he helped pay for? (Well, the food that his parents helped pay for.)
“And keep your voice down too.” Allegra added, flipping her hair over her shoulder when it fell in the way. Wearing it in a half-up-half-down style wasn’t nearly as convenient as her casual braid, but he had to admit, the free curls that fell around her shoulders were extremely nice. “Do you know the amount of people here who would love to get their grubby little hands on the fact that we’re trying to set stubborn, stuck-up, stone-faced Felix with the new, cotton-candy-sweet, bakery-girl Marinette? The gossip would reach both of them within seconds.”
“Yeah, it probably would.” He agreed. “But at least they’ll both know they like each other then. Saves us the trouble, right?”
Allegra shot him a flat look, meaning he probably said something wildly inaccurate again.
“Claude, the only gossip that would be spreading would be the fact that we’re trying to get them together. Not that they like each other. How do you think Felix is going to react when he realizes we’re playing matchmaker? What about Marinette? I think they’d probably be a little uncomfortable considering neither of them probably think that the other person likes them. Which is why we decided to be subtle about this in the first place.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“That makes sense.”
“Yes, it does.” Allegra said, crossing her arms. “So keep your voice down when talking about it from now on, please.”
Claude nodded, leaning back on the buffet table as he faced the crowd again. “Sure, sorry.”
This was going to be a tough evening, trying to get Marinette and Felix together while not blurting the scheme out to the world. He just felt like everything would be easier if they simply talked to each other about it openly. But Allegra was more perceptive than he was. She probably knew things he didn’t about the situation. So he’ll go along with her plan and hope it works out.
Besides, this way he gets to mess with Felix as much as he wants. And he won’t get scolded, this time!
And if everything does work out, Marinette and Felix will be all the happier for it.
Win-win-win-win.
“Hey, guys.” Allan spoke up, joining them at the table and swiping a shrimp. “Do you know if Felix and Marinette are here yet? I haven’t seen them.”
Allegra opened her mouth to scold him about the shrimp as she had Claude, but Allan popped it into his mouth before she could. Claude held back a snort, watching Allegra purse her lips in annoyance. If he couldn’t have a shrimp, at least Allan got one.
“They’re on their way up now.” The blonde replied with narrowed eyes, unbeknownst to Allan. “They just parked a few minutes ago.”
“Cool. We’re still having Claude do his thing, right?”
“Yep.” Claude said, a devilish grin spreading across his lips. “And I am so ready to cause mischief.”
Allegra snorted and lightly nudged him in the arm. “Not too much mischief. This is supposed to be romantic, remember?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Claude waved her off. “I’ll get them to be romantic. After I get to mess with them.”
“Claude-”
“Oh- there they are! Hey, guys!”
Claude perked up at the interruption, the familiar voice drawing his gaze to the front of the Mandarin Oriental. It was the very voice they’d been waiting for, and the source wasn’t hard to find.
Marinette and Felix were making their way through the crowd towards them, Marinette clearly excited as she waved them down with a bright smile. The designer dress she was wearing looked fantastic, as Felix had predicted, and the hearts littering it matched the theme perfectly. She even had her hair all done up tonight! (Which really brought out the elegance of the dress, in his opinion.) An outfit like that was only going to make his job of setting up a romantic thought process between the two that much easier.
(Of course, with the way Felix was staring at Marinette right now, Claude had a feeling that that thought process might already be set up.)
“Hey!” he greeted, meeting the pair halfway to give Marinette a hug. Was it the flowers on the table or did this girl actually smell like roses tonight? Did she use a special perfume? Oh, Allegra was going to love this.
“You two look awesome! I was starting to think you’d never get here.” He teased, stepping back again to get a better view of her face. She decided to go with a pinker shade of lipstick tonight, along with a glittering, light pink eyeshadow, and it’s a wonder that Felix hasn’t collapsed from swooning at this point. (Though maybe Claude can catch that when the two dance later. The video footage would be priceless!)
Marinette let out a light laugh, touching the tip of her side ponytail with a sheepish smile. “Yeah, sorry about that. Felix was helping me with my hair.”
“Aw, Felix!” Allegra cooed, coming up behind Claude just then to join them. “You did Marinette’s hair? It looks lovely.”
“I knew those lessons would come in handy.” Claude smirked.
“Yes, who would’ve guessed?” Felix muttered, briefly rolling his eyes, but Claude wasn’t fooled. He could hear the almost airy tone to Felix’s voice, see his eyes soften anytime he so much as glanced at Marinette. That guy had probably been ecstatic to do Marinette’s hair, and he just didn’t want to show it.
He would, though.. Soon enough.
“Hey, guys.” Allan chimed in, finally joining them as well. “You both look great. I haven’t seen Felix wear that dark of red in a while.”
“Or red in general.” Allegra remarked with a smile.
“Or pink.” Claude added, eyeing Felix’s shirt sleeves. “Actually, I haven’t seen you wear anything besides gray or black since Marinette had you wear that green, plaid shirt after the ‘flour incident’.”
“In other words.. Your mom made you wear that, didn’t she?” Allegra asked lightheartedly.
“Of course she did.” Felix said. “Why else would I wear it?”
“Well, I imagine you’d just want to look nice.” Claude joked, wrapping his arm around Felix’s shoulders and ignoring the blond’s scowl. “Either way, remind your mom how awesome she is for me when you get home.”
“I’m sure she already knows.” Felix replied curtly, shoving Claude’s arm off of him again.
A giggle brought Claude’s attention back to Marinette, who was now observing the party with sparkling interest.
“Everything looks incredible, you guys!” She nearly squealed. “The lights, the flowers, the food.. But I thought the party started at six. Did I get the times mixed up again?”
“No, it does- er, did.” Claude said. “People just get excited and like to get in as soon as they can.”
“Oh.” Marinette muttered, relief smoothing out her features. “So we’re not late?”
“Not at all. In fact..” Claude swept into a bow, offering his hand to her with a grin. “We were just about to start the dancing. Would you mind giving me the honors?”
A surprised laugh fell from Marinette’s lips. “Me? I thought Allegra was your ‘fake date’ for the evening.”
“She is, but I have to save the best for last, right?” Claude threw a wink at Allegra, who also let out a laugh and rolled her eyes. The slight blush on the her cheeks gave her away, though, and it caused his grin to widen.
Marinette gave an “Aw~.” and slipped her hand into his. “Well, in that case, I’d be delighted to dance with you.”
“Great!” Claude cheered, pulling her close.
They glided onto the dance floor, quickly catching the attention of the room, and with that, the first part of the plan fell into place. Claude was dancing with Marinette. Now he needed to convince her to dance with Felix.
Out of the corner of his eye, Claude could already see Felix starting to flounder. He simply stood there, quietly watching them dance with that neutral expression of his and occasionally looking elsewhere. Without Marinette to anchor him in a room of people, the blond would no doubt resort to being a wallflower again and wander over to some corner. A nice, hidden corner where Allegra could easily- and discreetly -convince Felix to dance with Marinette. They all knew him too well.
“Are we the only ones dancing?” Marinette asked, bringing Claude’s attention back to her.
“For now,” he confirmed, “but someone has to start it, right? Look, they’re already joining in.”
“I guess that’s true..” Marinette said, glancing at the few couples that had indeed started to join them. “I don’t normally dance all that much, to be honest. So it’s a little weird for me to be the one starting it for once.”
Claude laughed and took a step back to spin her around. “Really? You’re a natural at it!”
“Oh, thanks. That’s a relief to hear.” Marinette smiled, hobbling into a spin.
“Course. But you know who else is a natural at it?”
Marinette hummed. “Let me guess.. Is it you?”
Claude snorted. “Well, duh, but I was actually talking about Felix.”
Marinette’s eyes widened. “Felix?”
“Yeah! He takes waltzing classes at the school and everything, but he never dances! Can you believe it?”
A chuckle passed Marinette’s lips. “Kind of. This is Felix we’re talking about. Maybe his mom wanted him to take dance lessons like she wanted him to wear that tuxedo.”
“Maybe.. But it’s still a shame to waste such carefully crafted skills. You should try to get him to dance tonight.”
Marinette snorted. “Oh? And who would I get him to dance with? He doesn’t like getting close to random people.”
Claude hummed. “Now, that’s a question, isn’t it? Who should dance with Felix tonight..”
He made a show of looking around the dance floor as he and Marinette waltzed in a circle, then looked back to her. “..Why don’t you dance with him?”
Marinette nearly tripped over her own two feet at the suggestion, and Claude had to hold back a smile. Was she getting flustered? That’s a good sign.
“You want me to.. Are you sure he’d be comfortable with that? I’m pretty sure he doesn’t even want to dance.”
“Come on, who else could get Felix to dance?” Claude insisted. “He’ll say yes if it’s you, and we can’t let him be a wallflower forever.”
Marinette let out a soft laugh, looking quite bashful as a blush curled onto her cheeks, and she glanced over at Felix. He was already standing next to the wall near the punch bowl, looking idle as he watched the dancing crowd.
“I don’t know, Claude. I think he rather enjoys being a wallflower.”
Claude chuckled. “Just say you’ll try? At the very least, it’ll make Allegra happy to see Felix out and about.”
Marinette turned her attention back to him and smiled. “..Alright. I guess I’ll try, but no promises about actually getting him to dance.”
“Deal.” Claude grinned. Mission success!
“On an entirely different note, though, your dress is incredible. You made that yourself, right?”
Marinette brightened and nodded. “Yes, I did! I had lots of fun with it so I’m glad you guys like it.”
“Aw, I’m pretty sure I’d like anything you make. You always put a cool twist on things.” Claude smiled. “By the way, how’s my prince suit coming along? Have you started it yet?”
“I have! It’s actually pretty close to being done. I’m on the ‘details’ stage.”
A gasp of delight escaped him. He hadn’t realized how close she was to finishing it!
“Oh, sweet! You’re gonna have to come over to my house when you finish it. We can even have a mini-fashion show for you!”
Marinette giggled. “That sounds like a blast.”
“Yes!” Claude briefly let go of Marinette’s waist to pump his fist. “Man, am I glad you came to Rosemary. I mean, not just because of the prince suit- even though that is pretty awesome -but also because you’re a fun person to be around, ya know? Everyone thinks so.”
“Really?” Marinette’s steps lagged slightly, clearly taken aback by the statement. “That’s.. Thank you. That means a lot to me.”
For a moment, she almost looked relieved.. Or even sad. But another blinding smile appeared before he could figure out why.
“I think you guys are fun to be around too.” She said warmly.
Claude smiled, feeling his uneasiness melt away. She didn’t sound sad or solemn at all. He was probably just imagining things, or seeing a trick of the light.
“Excuse me.”
Claude and Marinette slowed to a stop, turning to another boy who had come to interrupt them.
“Mind switching off with me?” He asked, offering his hand to Marinette. Was that even allowed during an informal dance such as this?
Nevertheless, Claude caught Marinette’s eye. “What do you say, Mari? Wanna switch off?”
Marinette blinked. “Oh- uh -sure. If you’re okay with it.”
“Absolutely.” Claude smirked, jokingly spinning Marinette into the other boy’s arms. “Just don’t forget your promise to try!”
Marinette chuckled as she re-situated herself into the dance position. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
Claude watched the two dance away, smiling proudly at the seed he’d sown for Marinette and Felix’s romantic evening. Allegra was surely going to be pleased with his work, and he was going to be pleased watching it unfold.
Now to get that shrimp.
~~~~~~~
Felix leaned against the wall, quietly observing the other party members dance, specifically Marinette. Her smile shined brightly as a boy twirled her, and her shoulders shook with giggles when the boy dipped her a second later. She appeared to be enjoying herself, and Felix was enjoying watching her. He had a feeling the other boys from Rosemary would be showering her with attention tonight- it was one of the rare times when she wasn’t being smothered by himself and the trio, after all -but he was admittedly surprised by the amount of stamina she possessed. It’d been at least an hour or two since the dancing started, yet she was still going as strong as ever, non-stop.
Well, he supposed it wasn’t non-stop. She had spun over to his little corner a few times to talk, which was how he ended up carrying two cups of punch instead of his one. Still, she should probably take a seat soon. Those heels she’d decided to wear were bound to be painful after a while. Perhaps he should grab her attention and find an empty table-
“U-um, excuse me, Felix?”
Felix glanced to his right, meeting the face of a girl that seemed vaguely familiar and a tad timid. She stood a certain distance away from him, her lips stretched into a nervous smile, and gave a little wave. Was that all she intended to do?
“Can I help you?” He asked, raising a brow.
“Oh- well-” The girl faltered, as though she hadn’t expected to get this far, and rubbed her arm. “A-actually, I was wondering if maybe you’d like to.. Dance? With me. Of course.”
Ah, Felix thought, heaving a mental sigh. He should have known that that would be her intention. Now her visible anxiety made sense.
“Apologies, but I don’t dance.” He replied smoothly.
The girl’s shoulders sank. “Oh.. really? I thought you took waltzing classes at the school.”
Felix schooled a neutral expression, if only to avoid glaring. What, was she stalking him or something?
“I assure you they are for my Mother’s pleasure only, but I myself do not dance.” He said, a flatter note in his voice than before. Take the hint.
Thankfully, she did, but not in the way Felix was hoping.
“Ah, I see.. How about I keep you company then?” The girl suggested, getting entirely too comfortable next to him. “You’ve been over here by yourself for a while now.”
Felix’s grip on the cups tightened. So she was stalking him.
“While I appreciate the gesture, it’s quite unnecessary. I’m simply waiting for my friend to get back.”
“Your friend?” The girl asked, glancing into the crowd curiously. “You mean the black-haired girl who gave you that drink, right?”
Felix held back another scowl, his eye twitching. Seriously, how long had this girl been watching him? Didn’t she have someone better to bother? There were plenty of other guys here that would be willing to dance or talk with her. Why did she have to choose to annoy him specifically?
“Her hair is raven, and yes, she’s the one that gave me this drink.” He responded curtly, taking a sip of his own punch.
The girl nodded thoughtfully, blissfully unaware of his thinning patience. “I guess her hair does have a blue shine to it. Do you want me to hold one of the drinks? I imagine they get heavy after a while.”
Felix pulled the drinks away from her grasp, finally fixing her with a look.
I want you to mind your business, you little-
“Felix!”
Marinette’s punch was plucked from his hands, and an arm settled on his left shoulder. He whipped to the new interruption, thinking what now? and about ready to snap at someone, until he saw Allegra’s smiling face. She must have noticed him getting irritated and came over to investigate.
“You look like you’re having fun.” She said brightly, swirling Marinette’s punch in her hand. “Thanks for holding my drink for me.”
Felix winced, practically feeling the gears in the girl’s head turning. He’d just told her that the drink was Marinette’s, not Allegra’s. She was no doubt going to pick up on that. (Unless she was dimmer than he gave her credit for. That could always be a possibility.)
“Wait-” The girl said, her brows furrowing. Great. “Your drink? Felix just told me that that raven-haired girl gave him the drink.”
Felix gave Allegra a tired look. Try getting out of this one now.
At least she got Marinette’s hair color right that time.
Allegra ignored Felix’s look, instead throwing the girl a sharp smile. It was a rare sight to behold, but a welcome one. (So long as it wasn’t directed at him, of course.) It meant she was preparing herself to tear someone apart.
“Yes,” She replied shortly, “I gave the drink to Marinette, so she could give it to Felix. Is there a problem?”
The girl frowned. “But that doesn’t make any sense. I saw her-”
“You don’t believe me?” Allegra cut her off. “That’s rather rude to say to the hostess of the party, don’t you think? Go ask her yourself if you’re so skeptical. I wouldn’t recommend coming back to me afterwards, though.”
The girl huffed and crossed her arms, but turned around anyway, marching right off to a small group of girls that must have encouraged her to come talk with him in the first place. They swarmed her quickly, asking what happened and glaring at Allegra, but all Felix cared to do was take Marinette’s punch back from the blonde.
“I’m grateful, but I’m still going to need this back.” He said.
Allegra laughed and straightened to throw her hands in the air as a sign of surrender. “Fine with me. I didn’t realize you’d grown so attached to the beverage.”
Felix rolled his eyes. “I didn’t. You just might drink it by accident while we’re talking.”
Allegra tilted her head in a nod. “That’s a fair assumption. So what did that girl want from you?”
He sighed. “A dance. What else would people be asking me for at this ridiculous party?”
“Hey, it’s not ridiculous.” Allegra argued. “Marinette’s having a pretty good time.”
Felix’s gaze swept over the crowd again, finding Marinette easily as she switched off to a new dance partner. Her smile was contagious as always, and it spread onto Felix’s lips with little resistance.
“Yes, I suppose she is.” He agreed, taking another sip of his punch.
Allegra leaned against the wall next to him with a light chuckle. “You know, I bet if Marinette asked you to dance with her, you would.”
Felix scoffed at the implication her tone gave. Of course he would dance with Marinette if she asked, but only because it would make her happy, not because he wanted to dance with her. (Not that he particularly minded dancing with her either-)
“She wouldn’t ask me to dance,” he said before his thoughts could get out of hand, “because she knows I don’t fancy it.”
Allegra hummed. “Maybe you should ask her then.”
Felix shot her a look. This was going to be as tiresome as the other girl, wasn’t it?
“And why would I do that?”
“Because you need to not be a total wallflower this evening.” Allegra smiled. “And it would make Marinette happy. She’s already danced with Allan and Claude tonight, but with your professional lessons, I’m sure she’d have a blast.”
“I believe we just established that she is already having a blast.” Felix remarked, to which Allegra groaned.
“Just think about it, alright?”
“Unlikely.”
Why should he have to entertain an uncomfortable idea when Marinette was already enjoying herself? Granted, dancing with her didn’t sound awful, but the thought that it might encourage others to attempt dancing with him did. People were already asking him to dance while he was hiding near a wall. Imagine how many girls would come out of the woodwork once they actually saw him dancing.
Allegra rolled her eyes and waved him off. “Alright, whatever. I’m going back to the buffet table. Feel free to walk over if you start getting the urge to snap on someone again.”
Felix smirked. “In other words, I’ll see you in a few minutes?”
Allegra snorted as she walked away, and Felix settled back against the wall.. Just in time to see Marinette making her way towards him from the midst of the crowd. She appeared to be out of breath, though she offered him a tired smile when they locked eyes, and he moved forward to meet her halfway. That way she won’t have to trek all the way across the room for a drink.
“Are you finally taking another break?” He asked, handing her her punch when they joined at the edge of the crowd.
Marinette breathed out a laugh and took her drink with a “thanks”. It amazed him how well her outfit was staying together. The bow that held the dress together over her shoulders hadn’t loosened at all, and her hair seemed to be in place as well, save for a few stray strands. One would think that that amount of dancing would have her looking more disheveled.
“Yeah, just for a second.” She panted. “I’m starting to get dizzy from spinning so much.”
Felix chuckled. “Would you like to go find a table for a bit?”
“Uh..” Marinette glanced around the room for a moment, thinking it over. “You know what? Sure. I could sit for a bit.”
Felix smiled and gestured for her to lead the way, though he did point out an empty table that he had spotted earlier.
Marinette sat down first, with Felix pulling out her chair for her, and he sat down next to her. Their position faced the party rather than the wall, which allowed them- or at least Marinette -to continue enjoying the party atmosphere while they spoke.
“So are you having a decent time?” Marinette asked, taking a quick sip of her punch. “I know parties aren’t your thing, but you’re not too miserable, right?”
A bitter laugh escaped him, and he twirled his cup on the table as he said, “Miserable is certainly a good word to describe this evening.”
“Aw~, I’m sorry. Do you think going out to get some air would help?”
Felix offered her a smile. “That sounds delightful, but it’s as you said: Parties simply aren’t my preference. This party especially.”
Marinette’s eyebrows knitted together. “Because it’s a Valentine’s Day party or because there are so many people?”
“The Valentine’s Day theme.” Felix confirmed. “Not only are people more inclined to invade my personal space, but they also like to make the ‘Day of Love’ about romance exclusively. It diminishes the other definition to a ridiculous amount in my opinion.”
“Other definitions?” Marinette inquired. “What do you mean?”
Felix allowed a small, humorous smile to catch his lips. She’d just inadvertently proven his point right there. People were so focused on the romantic sense of love that they seemed to forget the several other types of love that exist.
“There’s more than one type of love, such as platonic love or familial love. In fact, the Greeks had seven different words for love. I believe they’re all important, so to see them all be dwindled down to just romantic love is aggravating.”
“Huh..” Marinette muttered, absorbing his words. “I never knew about the Greeks using seven different words for love. What were they?”
Felix briefly glanced up in thought. “If I remember correctly, they were Philia, Ludus, Storge, Philautia, Pragma, Agape, and Eros.”
“Wow.” Marinette smiled. “They sound beautiful. What do they mean?”
Felix smirked as well. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Always willing to listen and learn from my random facts.
“Well, the meanings are all decently complicated, but I supposed they can be summed up to this: Philia is the type of intimate love between friends. Ludus is the playful and ‘exciting’ type of love that one would get with a random crush. Storge is familial love, Philautia is the love of self, Pragma is the enduring type of love- which is the type of love needed for marriages or serious relationships -Agape is the unconditional love for humanity as a whole- which I clearly do not have-” He gained a snort from that “-and Eros is that of sexual love.”
The meaning of the last one felt a bit awkward on his tongue, but he pushed away the uneasiness. She had asked for the definitions, after all.
“I like those definitions.” Marinette said, a soft look coming to her features. “It’s cool that you know so much about them.”
“I have mentioned that I enjoy knowing things.”
Marinette giggled. “So you have. Just out of curiosity, though- and this may be a bit contradictory to the conversation -but have you ever had a crush on anyone? Or just, you know.. Been in a relationship in general? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.”
Felix’s eyes widened slightly. He honestly hadn’t expected her to ever ask him such a thing. It made sense, considering the topic of the conversation they were having, but it was still surprising coming from her.
Nevertheless, he answered.
“No, neither. I’ve never been interested in anyone enough to pursue them, and anyone interested in me has always been too clingy. If I wanted someone to fawn over me constantly, I would simply invite Claude and Allegra to my house more often.”
For some reason, his answer didn’t feel quite right as he said it, and he found himself gauging Marinette’s reaction. Did he answer the question incorrectly? Was she going to be upset? Or possibly disappointed? Why would she be either? How could there possibly be an ‘incorrect’ answer to the question he’d just been asked?
Marinette snorted, clearly not upset at all, and it left him wondering why he’d bothered to worry.
“I figured you’d say that. You don’t seem like the type to get caught up in feelings like that.”
Felix nodded, though he silently questioned what she meant by the comment. Was she implying that he couldn’t get caught up in those types of feelings? Why did that seem so offensive to him?
“What about you?” he asked, brushing his thoughts to the side. He was just being ridiculous anyway. “Have you ever had romantic feelings towards another or been in a relationship?”
He already knew about her affections for Adrien Agreste, of course, but he’d yet to find out how far they went. And, on top of that, there was always the possibility of her having more than one lover. So it only made sense to ask the question, especially since she had asked him first.
A grimace overtook her features, clearly telling him that she had, in fact, had a romantic encounter before.
“Well.. I’ll admit I’ve had a lot of crushes, but there was this one that really got me. You, uh, you’ve actually met him already. Technically, anyway.”
Felix took a guess. “Adrien Agreste?”
She nodded, a bitter smile coming to her lips. “Cliché, right? The baker girl falling for the famous model..” She glanced down at her drink, absently tilting the cup to watch the liquid swirl. “I didn’t like him because he was a model, though. I liked him because he was sweet, and he was thoughtful, and.. I don’t know, I guess I thought.. that we could live a happy life together.”
Felix frowned at the cloud that seemed to pass over her, the pain that swelled in her eyes. He hadn’t realized how strong her attachment to Agreste was.
Marinette shook her head, breaking free of the thought process, and plastered on a smile. “I’m sorry, you didn’t ask about that.”
“No, it’s alright.” He assured her. “You can’t let things weigh on your mind unattended. If you feel you need to talk about it, then I’m willing to lend an ear.”
Marinette’s posture relaxed, relief making her smile a bit more genuine as she said, “Thank you. I appreciate it.. I don’t have any feelings for him now, but the pain is.. It still comes back, especially with how things ended. Sometimes I wish it had been different, sometimes I wish I had been different, and sometimes I wish I hadn’t fallen for him at all.. but mostly, I’m just glad it’s over.”
“What happened?”
“Well.. nothing happened, to be honest. And I think that was the hardest part.” Marinette drew in a deep breath, allowing herself to relax before continuing, “He came to my school a little over two years ago. Everyone was excited, but I didn’t even know who he was. When I did find out, though, we actually had a little bit of a misunderstanding. It’s funny when I think about it now, the way things turned out during that first day.”
“He apologized about it later, even though it wasn’t his fault, and I think that’s when I started to see him as something more than a friend. The more I got to know him, the more I started falling head over heels, and soon my friends found out about it. They thought we would be a great couple too, which kind of made me excited, and we all started planning these elaborate schemes to get him to notice me.”
She put her head in her hands and groaned. “It was so embarrassing, Felix, you should have seen them. One even involved me dressing up like a cat since he loved Chat Noir so much.”
Felix grimaced, though he tried not to show it. Marinette dressing up like a cat for some random guy’s attention? He couldn’t even fathom it. Who came up with that suggestion?
“Did it.. work?” He almost hesitated to ask.
Marinette laid her head on the table then, shaking it with a whine. “Not even close. This group of dogs saw me on my way over, and I guess my costume was too convincing because they chased me all around Paris. I ended up muddy and scratched up when Adrien actually saw me, which didn’t help at all.”
Felix was careful not to react, but he almost felt the need to pat her on the shoulder. How had she not died from embarrassment yet? If someone put him through that, he’d never go outside again.
“You see? That’s how all of it was. All. of. It.” Marinette said, lifting her head again to lean her chin into her palm. “Two years I spent chasing after him, making all of these plans and trying to catch his eye just once, but no matter what I did, I was only ever his ‘good friend’. A-And I’m not saying I hated being his friend or anything, I just.. I was trying so hard to be more, wondering why I wasn’t enough, and my friends were constantly cheering me on to keep going. It was exhausting.”
Felix offered her a sympathetic look as she went on, though he couldn’t help feeling annoyed by the story. What kind of ‘friends’ did she use to have that they would willingly push her to make a fool of herself in front of her love? What kind of friends would encourage her to continue chasing after someone who clearly wasn’t interested in her? That wasn’t healthy at all, and he could only imagine how miserable it would have made her.
Wait..
“Is that why he’s coming to see you now?” Felix asked. (or more of blurted out.) “Because of your previous feelings for him?”
“Oh, no.” Marinette said, going so far as to let out a laugh. “No, I doubt he’s ever going to see me in that light, but it’s still frustrating that he’s trying to visit me. Moving to Rosemary was supposed to be an easy break, but he just has to follow me here too.. Again, it’s not that I mind being his friend or anything, it’s.. I need time. To get over him. I don’t like the person I became when I only lived to gain his affection, and it’s hard to get over that mindset, ya know?”
Felix nodded. He didn’t quite understand her experience since he’d never loved someone himself, but he knew that old habits were hard to break, and that love can be known as an intoxicating and addicting emotion. It wouldn’t be easy to get rid of.
“You’re strong for deciding that.” He said sincerely. “It takes an immense amount of will power to let go of something that you think will make you happy, but I believe you’re right in thinking you’ll be better for it.”
Marinette pulled a small smile, twisting the small tip of her ponytail. “Thanks. I hope I am.”
Felix smiled as well and turned his chair to face Marinette more fully. He wanted to ensure that she would hear the words he was about to say.
“Marinette, you are.. an incredible person. And I’m not just telling you this to lift your spirits, I am saying it because it’s true. You are talented, intelligent, kind, and capable all on your own. You don’t need anyone to validate how amazing you are, because it’s evident in everything you do, and I truly hope you don’t ever doubt yourself because of Adrien’s foolishness.”
A blush bloomed across Marinette’s cheeks, and she glanced down to fiddle with her hands. “O-Oh, uhm.. Thanks.. Again. I won’t.”
Felix smiled, satisfied with the reaction, and picked up his cup to extend it towards her.
“Here,” he said light-heartedly, “to finding someone new, someone who appreciates you, even if that someone is yourself.”
Marinette giggled and picked up her drink as well, clinking the glasses together. “To finding someone new.”
Felix took a sip of his cup to complete the toast, but to his surprise, Marinette set hers to the side, instead standing up and offering her hand to him.
“Let’s go dance.”
Felix choked on his drink.
“Pardon?”
“Come on, it’ll be fun!” Marinette insisted. “I mean, you only have to come if you want to, of course, but I haven’t danced with you yet, and Claude said that you took waltzing lessons at the school.”
Felix held back a scoff and glanced around the room, hoping to catch Claude’s eyes so he could glare at him. Why did that dolt keep telling people he took waltzing lessons? It only made it harder for Felix’s to reject people when asked to dance.
However.
He looked back to Marinette, who held a fresh, bright smile, waiting for his response.
“I bet if Marinette asked you to dance, you would.”
Allegra’s words resurfaced in his mind, unwelcomed. Why did she always have to be right? It only made her more smug as a person.
Nevertheless, Felix took Marinette’s hand. “Alright, but only one dance. I don’t want anyone else thinking I’m open to the idea.”
Marinette chuckled and pulled Felix to his feet. “Of course not. We’ll dance near the darker spots of the room so your face won’t be seen.”
They moved to the dance floor, and Marinette put her hand on his shoulder, while Felix wrapped his arm around her waist. It was a bit awkward pulling each other close, since the only other person he’d been this close to was his mother and father, but once they actually started to dance, his years of practice easily took over. Felix slid into the role of leading, and Marinette followed him willingly as he spun her around the party room, smiling when she laughed during a dip.
Such a fool.. He thought, tugging her back up to him. How anyone could pass up Marinette’s affection was beyond him, but in a way, Felix was delighted that Adrien had. He might not have been able to meet her otherwise.
With the two being so enveloped in each other’s movements, they didn’t notice Allegra, Claude, and Allan watching them from across the room, nor did they catch the smiles and high-fives that the trio shared.
Opening Up ~ HHJ [Request]
WORD COUNT: 3K
PAIRING: Hyunjin x Fem!Reader
GENRE: Enemies to lovers, fluffy ending
A/N: I had mad writers block when writing this so I hope it turned out okay for you my love, if you hate it please feel free to tell me and I will work on it and make it better for you! Love you sweetie pie! @jikooksgirl19
Staring through the pannel in the studio window you wished someone would walk through it and save you from the predicament that you were in right now but it seemed as though no one was going to come. It had almost been an hour of you and Hyunjin trapped in a small confined space with one another, neither of you speaking or doing anything. Your phone had no signal and conveniently Hyunjin had left his on the outside of the studio before he dragged you in here to talk. You glanced over at Hyunjin who was continuously bouncing a small ball on the wall of the studio booth you were trapped inside of.
"Seriously? You couldn't do something less annoying?" You asked him in a snarky tone as he locked eyes with you and continued to bounce the ball onto the wall while maintaining eye contact with you. The only reason you were even trapped in the room was that he decided he needed to "talk" with you and wanted to do it somewhere quiet, where you couldn't be heard. Hence being trapped inside one of the studio sound booths with no one to let you out. The door had locked itself from the outside trapping you both with no way out.
"Fuck, you're so incredibly annoying." You grumbled, folding your arms over your chest as you waited for someone to come into the studio, they would have to come in eventually. Even if it was Chan coming in to work late he would have to come in and let you out, maybe one of them would search for Hyunjin but if this was how he was at the dorms you could tell they were getting some peace there for once.
"I'm annoying? Please, you've barely said anything to me the past six weeks of you working here and you already decided you hate me. That's annoying. Judging people before you know them," He mumbled, the ball hitting the floor as he didn't catch it this time, bouncing off in the direction of the door echoing in the room as you watched it staring back at him when it finally came to a stop.
"Hate you? I don't even know you enough to decide what I think of you but if this is how you act then yes. Yes, I hate you," It couldn't have been any further from the truth but you weren't going to tell Hyunjin that. For the last six weeks, you'd been working in the JYP building as a personal assistant for your cousin Chan, trying to get some work experience for your future job. It was the best idea since you and Chan had always gotten along so well and you figured it would be running around making him cups of tea or bringing him food all day. You just needed some money and experience before you applied for other jobs in the area.
"If you weren't such a cold bitch maybe you'd realise we're friendly." He snapped at you as he stared into your eyes, he stared back at you waiting for you to realise how awful you had been to him and the boys since you started working there.
"I'm not cold..." Your voice trailed off as you thought about your time in the company, you had been doing everything in your power to make the boys happy but clearly, it wasn't enough. You’d not spoken to them so they wouldn't be distracted whenever you had to be around them, you made sure they were always on time for work. Always had the food they wanted for their lunch, never got in their way on days out or whenever they were at the dorms.
"Oh please, remember your first day? We tried so hard to be nice to you and you did nothing but ignore us and throw it back in our faces."
"This is Hyunjin, Jisung and Minho, they're working on their dances today." Chan introduced you to the three guys that were heavily panting in the dance studio. Minho smiled at you holding out his hand for you to shake while Hyunjin pushed his long blonde hair back into a make-shift ponytail and Jisung introduced himself once again.
"This is my cousin Y/n, I told you guys about her last week. She's coming to work for me for the summer." You shook each of their hands while Chan explained what you were doing there and Hyunjin kept his eyes on you, watching to see how you were acting around them. Different personal assistant's had come and gone throughout their time in the company and a lot of them were just after money or stories that they could eventually sell to the media outlets but there was something about you that seemed different. You came across as cold, you weren't smiling at any of them besides Chan and whenever one of them would try and make polite conversation with you, you would just pass it off or change the subject.
"How long have you been in Korea?" Hyunjin tried to ask but you ignored him, turning back to look at Chan who was leaving the dance room you sprinted after him, Jisung, Minho and Hyunjin all exchanged looks wondering if they'd potentially done something that could have offended you within the 60 seconds of meeting you.
Lunch was no different, the boys all gathered in one of the studios to eat together but you didn't bother, you dropped off their food without a word before leaving. Your head stuck in your phone as you walked out of the room not bothering to look at any of them,
"She's just busy." Chan made excuses after excuse for you but none of them was the real reason why you had been ignoring them so much.
At the end of your first day, you were at the dorms with all of the boys, squashed on the sofa between Felix and Chan as they held switch remotes and tried to get you to game with them. There was a look on your face that made it seem as though you were uncomfortable with being squished between the two of them,
"Want something to eat?" Hyunjin questioned trying to get you to come out of the squished spaced but you just stared at him before glancing at Chan, as if you were asking him for some kind of permission to move away from the spot that you were sitting in.
"He's not your dad. You don't have to ask for his permission," Jisung joked making the guys around you all laugh while you sink further into the sofa, wanting nothing more than for it to swallow you whole and never let you out again. You wanted nothing more than for the attention to be off of you, for all of the boys to do their own thing while you did what you had to do before leaving for the night. It was going to be a long six weeks if you were going to have to put up with them all talking to you, trying to make jokes out of stupid things and being around you constantly. Chan told you before you came that you weren't to spend time alone with any of the boys, if they tried to get you to be alone with them then to just leave, simple as that. Even if it wasn't for Chan telling you this you wouldn't get close to any of them, you hated growing attached to be people around you only for them to leave you once they decided that you were no longer good enough to be their friend. Hyunjin watched as you mumbled something to Chan before getting up and leaving the dorms without another word to anyone else, storming out and slamming the door as you left the dorms. The others didn't notice a problem with it and let go as if it was the normal thing for you to do but it rubbed Hyunjin the wrong way. All he had done was try to be nice to you and you threw it back in his face by ignoring him and being rude about it.
"What's her problem?" He grumbled as he sat down on the chair beside Jeongin and Minho, Minho glanced over his shoulder at the sulking member.
"What are you talking about? She probably just wanted to head home for the night," Minho told him before going back to watching the maknae play the video game he was playing.
You could tell that Hyunjin was upset thinking back on your first day and you knew it only got worse from that point on. As time went by at the company you continued to ignore them all, only paying attention to the things you had to and never getting involved in anything they invited you along to with them. The boys had tried to do anything they could to get you to warm up to them, inviting you to the dorms for meals, inviting you out on days out and even trying to teach you some of their dances but you were having none of it.
"Hyunjin-"
"No, you know what. You have been nothing but rude to us since starting here and it pisses me off," He cut you off, you didn't blame him for being so angry with you. You knew if it was the other way around you would be just as pissed off as he was about all of it. Looking back on everything you'd done you realised how it could have come across as bitchy or mean as you snapped at them all.
"What's your problem? We didn't even get to know you before you decided to be rude to us...So is there stories you've heard that make us seem cruel and unusual?" He questioned you as he stared at you waiting for an answer. You knew there was only going to be one way he would drop the subject and that was to tell him the truth even if it meant hurting yourself in the process. Thinking back on old memories only made you feel worse about things and made you realise how doing what you had been doing to the guys was wrong on many different levels.
"If I tell you, you'll think it's stupid," Hyunjin froze as he realised your body language was more relaxed now, you were looking at him and making eye contact for the first time that wasn't mean. As he looked into your eyes he could tell there was something seriously hurting you behind your eyes.
"Try me," He whispered, calming down from the angry ranting that he had been doing before and looked at you, wanting to make sure you felt comfortable telling him whatever it was that was clearly bothering you so much.
"I've not had great experiences with people in the past...Friends, family...Relationships. It's not an excuse that should be used but that's why I did it," You sighed as you rubbed the bridge of your nose,
"I figured it would be the same with you and the rest of the boys if I let myself get close to you. We would all be friends for a while before you decided I wasn't good enough or that you all hated me...It was easier to be hated from the get-go rather than be hated further down the line." You admitted all of this to him while maintaining eye contact so that he would know that it was all true, every word you were saying.
"I wanted to bring you food and leave, do whatever you wanted to do and then leave so none of you would be distracted." You told him before looking over at the window into the studio, still, no one was coming to get you out of the room. The two of you were going to be sat there talking for a while.
"People in the past have been toxic to me in friendships and relationships. I didn't want to repeat everything I had been through in the past," Hyunjin shook his head as he thought about your logic in the situation,
"Not everyone is going to hurt you or has ill intentions...We wanted to get along with you to make your time here pass by faster...You can't tell me that you enjoyed the last six weeks..." Hyunjin still didn't follow along with any of it but he'd never been in that place before. Everyone he'd met luckily in his life had been nice,
"Hyunjin...It's been slow but I would rather be slow than-"
"No, I don't accept it as some kind of lazy ass excuse." You stared at him with a blank expression on your face before getting up and trying the door again but it hadn't budged since the last time you tried it.
"What's the real reason?" You rolled your eyes at him as you continuously pulled at the door as if it was magically going to come open with your touch.
"That is the real reason, you just won't accept it." You mumbled to him before letting go of the door and sliding down the wood.
"Because it's a dumb excuse," He mumbled back at you, staring at you as you stared back at him.
"You can't tar someone with the same brush, not everyone is going to hurt you." You knew he was right about it but it didn't mean it was going to be something you got over so suddenly and quickly, it wasn't like it was in the movies.
"It's just- Whoa!" You screamed falling back on the floor, looking up to see Chan staring down at you,
"Trapped in the studio?" He laughed looking at you and then over at Hyunjin to make sure you were both okay,
"Good to see you're still alive," He said before leaving you both in the studio room while he booted up his laptop on the desk, you glanced back over at Hyunjin who was getting ready to leave.
"I'm sorry," You announced loudly enough that Chan looked up to see what was going on,
"I'll try from now on...To be nicer...I don't mean to be so rude." You locked eyes with Hyunjin and he smiled weakly while he nodded his head, accepting that you were at least going to try from that point on.
The final week had gone by and you had stuck to your word, being nicer with the boys and accepting their invitations a lot more. Since being trapped with Hyunjin in the studio together you'd grown closer to him, leaning on him whenever you needed a reassuring push to do something with him and the boys.
"I like this, it feels like we're a big family," Felix said as he plated up some brownies you and Hyunjin had been making with him that day, you smiled weakly while nodding your head. Today was your last day which meant you would be leaving the boys, all day your mind had been racing with thoughts about never seeing them again or never speaking to them again. Anxiety filling up inside of you as your thoughts went back to how they were before, how you should have continued to ignore them,
"We should invite Y/n to our movie night next week, you'd love it right Y/n?" Hyunjin said as if he could read your mind and see that you were getting anxious about things again,
"What kind of movies? I'm not so great with horrors," You shivered at the thought of it and Felix laughed,
"Neither are Chan and Jisung, it's strictly going to be Disney and marvel movies," He promised before going to give some of the others brownies, leaving you and Hyunjin alone in the kitchen.
"Last day then," He said as he leant against the kitchen counter watching you as you nodded.
"Yep," He smiled as you popped the "p" at the end of "yep". Whenever you did something he couldn't help but fill with happiness at it, he stepped closer to you wanting to do something he'd been wanting to do all week but the door to the kitchen opened and Chan appeared.
"Your last paycheck!" He yelled out, handing you an envelope while smiling brightly at you, sweeping you up over his shoulder while yelling out and bouncing you up and down on his shoulder.
"FOR SHE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW, FOR SHE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW!" He screamed out making the others join in while you screamed for him to put you down,
"I won't hesitate to throw up down your back!" You moaned out, clutching onto his shoulders as he began spinning you around on the spot.
Standing outside the dorms front door you waited for your car to pull up outside, the boys were all inside celebrating your last day over take-out food and baked goods while Hyunjin waited with you. There was something clearly bothering him, he was fidgeting around with his sleeves, sweating and shaking.
"You okay?" You asked panicked that he was starting to get sick or something but he turned to you and spoke so fast you didn't understand a word he said.
"Come again," You stuttered between giggles as you looked at him, he stepped closer to you this time as a sudden wave of confidence washed over him, he put his hands on the wall on either side of you, It was like a personality switch right before your very eyes,
"So you won't be working for JYP anymore which means I can do this," He leant forward slowly and connected your lips together, smirking as he felt you go limp against the wall. He wrapped his arm around your waist to steady you and chuckled against your lips as you wrapped your arms around the back of his neck pulling him closer. It was all of the passion between the two of you that made you weak at the knees as you continued to make out until your car pulled up outside the building and honked to signal that he was there.
"I'll call you later," He winked as he watched you walk away with a giant smile on your face, you took one last look at him to see a large red blush spreading across his face. Maybe it wasn't so bad opening up to the boys and getting closer to them after all.
moving this to my new blog so I can pin it again lol
@stregoni-benefici you are completely correct but I just wanted to expand on this a little bit - also i’m putting this under a read more cause this got a lot longer than i originally thought it would be
sexism: smeyers treatment of female characters throughout the entire series is extremely problematic. like you don’t even need to read deep into the books to see that. the backstories of all her female characters all involve some form of trauma and are significantly more violent than the male vampires (Rosalie and Esme enduring physical/sexual assault meanwhile Edward dies of the flu and Emmett gets vibe checked by a bear).
she also creates the idea that a woman isn’t complete without children/being a mother. every female vampire in the series is desperate for children yet can’t, its mentioned in pretty much every book and extreme emphasis is placed on how tragic this is. a female character wanting children isn’t wrong or sexist at all but the way its written in twilight makes it seem like its something a woman has to do in order to be happy and smeyer pretty much cements this idea by making Bella suddenly desperate to have Renesmee despite showing no interest in children/audibly voicing her thoughts against having children in eclipse and the start of breaking dawn (i’m pretty sure Bella has a line of dialogue in the books where she says something like she didn’t realise it was something she wanted/needed until it happened bit I’m not sure I try not to read/think about breaking dawn)
there’s also the way she writes female characters, specifically Rosalie. its mentioned throughout the series that Rosalie has extreme mechanical skills and multiple degrees in STEM fields but its barely ever shown, and instead her characterisation focuses on being obsessed with her looks (first couple pages of this, written by smeyer for new moon), and being a ‘stereotypical bitch’. for the first three books most of her character/dialogue is based on being cold and rude to Bella. She is unnecessarily painted as the villain for having different views on Bella (quite literally) giving up her life and future to be with a man (which is a whole other can of worms). the same is done to the character of Leah in eclipse/breaking dawn. Leah is a woman in the Quileute Tribe, she has been severely affected by the Cullen’s presence in the area and is painted as a character that the reader is supposed to dislike simply because she doesn’t like Bella/the Cullen’s despite having extremely valid reasons not to
anti-Native - smeyers treatment of native tribes is horrendous. she has profited fr years off of of native american culture for years and has done so without any acknowledgements. furthermore, she also demonises native american teens (especially in new moon) by calling them wild, violent, dangerous and out of control and then uses these stereotypes to create a contrast between the self control and patience of the Cullen’s and make them seem more like the good guys, and the wolf pack being lesser. She does this again with the treatment of Jacobs character in new moon and especially eclipse.
Jacob starts off in new moon as Bella’s best friend. he helps Bella come out of a severe depression caused when Edward left at the start of the book. however in eclipse his character makes a complete flip and he becomes moody, temperamental, argumentative and disrespectful of Bella’s boundaries. his character becomes unrecognisable and despite smeyers claims of a love triangle, it is obvious what the outcome will be. I have seen countless instances of people on this site claiming they hate Jacob because he is a dick/disrespectful/just as unhealthy as Edward. this was done on purpose by smeyer as she uses Jacob to make Edward seem like the obvious and correct choice for Bella. if you need more proof of this, take the scene where Jacob kisses Bella without her consent and she breaks her hand when punching him, Edward swoops in and almost gets into a fight with Jacob for touching Bella without her consent. this is an obvious attempt to make Jacob seem like the villain and Edward the white saviour
there’s also the treatment of the native characters by the white characters in the books. multiple times in the series, the native characters are called/compared to dogs/brutes and have a distinct unpleasant smell. I don’t think I need to explain how this is racist. the pack also helps the Cullen’s/saves Bella’s lives and never receive any acknowledgement/are treated any better by the Cullen’s/anyone really. the pack are only ever used as a way to make the Cullen’s look better.
there’s also some pretty obvious similarities to colonisation with the Cullen’s entering Quiluete lands which then forces them to start phasing into wolves (and I’m pretty sure none of the pack actually want to start phasing). also, remember Leah? the only female member of the wolf pack? because of the change she effectively can’t have children? that has implications.
and to top it all off, after doing all that, smeyer has never once addressed this or even acknowledged the Quileute Tribe.
pedophilic - I mean even without mentioning breaking dawn its pretty awful. first of all you’ve got the blatant sexualisation of minors throughout the entire series. Edward is 17 throughout the series and smeyer is writing literal paragraphs about his chiselled abs. Jacob is 16/17 when she has him running about forks topless with a 6 pack. this is way more apparent in the movies but its still a huge issue in the books and lead to Taylor Lautner being confronted by adult fans trying to get him to sign their underwear, and being forced into being shirtless for most of the movies which made him extremely uncomfortable (Elizabeth Reaser (Esme) briefly talks about this in the ID10T podcast on spotify). and just as a reminder, Taylor was 16 when the first one was filmed and 17 for the second.
Breaking Dawn is a whole other can of worms. the glaringly obvious issue is Jacob imprinting on a literal newborn baby. now the concept of imprinting itself has racist elements to it, but its heavily implied in the series that imprinting will inevitably lead to a romantic relationship. Jacob imprinting on Renesmee and waiting until she is old enough to enter into a romantic relationship (never mind the fact that shes ‘old enough’ she will still technically be 5) is pretty much grooming. The same happens with Quil and his imprint, Claire (a two year old) where I’m pretty sure there’s a scene in breaking dawn where Jacob and Leah are watching Quil play with Claire and talking about how Quil isn’t going to date anyone because he and Claire are ‘pretty much inevitable’ (i might be wrong though, like I said I try not to read/think about breaking dawn)
smeyer has also written a spin off book (its like 250 odd pages) called the short second life of Bree Tanner (Bree is that newborn vampire killed after the battle in eclipse by the Volturi btw). In this book, Bree is 15 almost 16, and another character Diego is 18 which is definitely pushing the boundaries of ok. (also as a side note, funny how Bree and Jacob are literally the same age and smeyer states multiple times how Bree deserved better and is only a child (who straight up kills people), yet when it comes to Jacob he has to be a responsible adult and is vilified for every mistake he makes)
racist - smeyer refused to let Catherine Hardwicke (director of the first twilight) have a diverse cast because she ‘imagined them a certain way’ (white) and it was a fight to get Edi Gathegi cast as Laurent and had to compromise with smeyer to make Bella’s friend group more diverse. this woman straight up refused to hire more diverse actors and only agreed to when they were side characters/villains.
Also in the official companion book/guide to twilight, smeyer literally writes that vampire venom makes you white
‘the venom leeches all pigmentation from the skin into a more indestructable vampire form…regardless of original ethnicity a vampires skin will be exceptionally pale’ (official illustrated guide pg.69)
this is a whole lot of bullshit cause she is literally whitewashing characters, but when you pair this with the idea that vampires possess inhuman levels of beauty it becomes extremely problematic and implies that being pale/white is more beautiful than darker skin tones.
also, if we go back to Laurent’s character for a second. so Laurent is one of the only characters who isn’t described as white (in the books he is described as having a pale olive skin tone) and in the first book he comes across as pretty reasonable (warning carlisle about James/Victoria, travels up to Denali and tries out the veggie lifestyle) but in new moon, his characterisation pulls a 180° (sensing a theme here) and is suddenly trying to kill Bella as a favour to Victoria and is Evil™ despite in the first book he literally says to Carlisle he didn’t particularly like travelling with James/Victoria and was only really doing it for convenience. where did this undying loyalty come from? yet again, smeyer is completely disregarding established characterisation in POC characters specifically to villainise them.
and finally, we have Jasper. for some reason (that reason being that she is racist) smeyer decides to make Jasper a confederate soldier in his human life. if you don’t have a lot of knowledge on the american civil war, the confederacy were the side of the US that seceded from the union in order to keep their slaves. Jasper was a confederate soldier, and not just any soldier, but a major. Jasper was a major in an army that fought for 4 years to keep the existence of slavery (and don’t even try to say that slavery wasn’t the root cause of the civil war. states rights aye? states rights to do what). now there’s an argument out there made by certain fans that a lot of people joined the confederate army out of pride/were forced into it cause of conscription to try and head canon the racism away but like that doesn’t matter. there was literally no need to make jasper a confederate in the first place. if she was so desperate to have a civil war vampire then she could have made him a member of the union. its been common knowledge that the confederacy was racist for a long time now, smeyer has absolutely no excuses here.
a lot of these issues overlap and I have probably missed heaps of issues (so feel free to add on) but hope this helps explain why smeyer can *ahem* get tae absolute fuck
I'm so excited to find a blog who actually does Male/Gender Neutral pronouns! My request headcanons where GN!MC badly hurts their ankle during PE so individually Malleus, Vil, Leona, Jade, and Jack carrying them to the infimary. Probably mostly platonic but kinda leaning towards wanting to be more than friends?
I'm a sucker for 'platonic with some romantic elements' type of tropes so this is a big yes for me!
Triggers: none
Malleus, Vil, Leona, Jade, and Jack carrying g/n reader to the infirmary after they severely injured their ankle in PE
He knew that you're reckless and bound to injure yourself in any type of way just from how brave you are from talking to him. You called him "Tsunotarou" and you've now been chatting with him as much as you get the chance to or when he appears outside the Ramshackle dorm. Though he doesn't mind it, he knows that you should be more careful.
So when you injured your ankle, he was only shocked for a mere second. Again, it's supposed to be expected when it comes to people like you but that doesn't make him any less concerned. He ran his way towards you and that enough makes other students feel uneasy. Even if you two are closest of friends, you usually spend time without anyone there to see so you two are a very bizarre combo to the others.
He had asked you if you were ok and if you could walk again. Your ankle was sprained and your denial of being in pain almost fooled him if you didn't wince as soon as you tried to stand up. He was a fae, his ability to handle pain has far surpassed any ordinary human so he wouldn't fully understand but can still recognize that you're in a rather agonizing situation.
Malleus had no choice but to pick you up from the ground, not as he minds it but what he does mind is people not minding their own business and just stared at you two, God bless Mr.Vargas for telling them to resume the activities. There was no use if you're trying to make him put you down or get yourself down by yourself as he was way too strong, even if his grip wasn't tight at the moment.
He actually has no idea what's wrong with you, he doesn't know why you can't stand up on your own so you have to do the talking. The nurse persisted Malleus to go back to his lessons and it irritated him but you also shooed him out and told him to visit later when he's free. Very questionable as to why he's free as PE ended but you couldn't care less. He always visits you every day because of how you always manage to make him happy and his heart flutter and he is not sure as to why.
Vil always has loathed your carelessness. He has pointed it out several times and telling you to be careful but you just couldn't help but get into countless troubles and it's not helping that your best friends are intentionally and unintentionally troublemakers. He never gave up on scolding you for your careless actions as he wants his..friend to improve but it does get tiring getting angry over the same thing over and over again.
So you falling and harming your ankle until you can't even stand up without the feeling to cry was not surprising in the slightest, just like what Malleus felt. He facepalms to your recklessness before walking up to you to ask if you're ok but NOT before scolding you, telling you that your actions have consequences and other junk but you never cared enough to listen.
Once you said that you might have sprained your ankle, he dramatically sighed and called you a fool for that. Since even walking you to the infirmary was already hard for your side, he had no choice but to pick you up and asks you to stop struggling or freaking out so much like you weren't gaining enough attention from injuring yourself.
While he's used to getting attention, he doesn't like the one he's getting right now as this could end up with multiple scandals of you and him maybe dating. While he's not opposed to dating you- wait, what is he saying!? He doesn't like you that way, right? It doesn't matter is what he thought to himself at the moment as the main priority is to get your butt into the infirmary and do a three-hour lecture on why you should be careful as the scolding wasn't enough. He called out the people staring as rude and should mind their own business and to continue their PE lessons.
He got really upset when it was confirmed that your ankle injury was rather severe and not just mild as it would take about four weeks or even more to fully recover. He understood fully and left the premises as he does have a class to attend but worry not, he will visit you any free time he has. If he couldn't visit you, maybe a video call would suffice. While he wouldn't treat you like royalty, he would be softer with you as he slightly pities your condition. As you were discharged and needed to walk with a cast, meaning you will be slower than before, meaning Vil would also slow down his pacing as you are his friend! Yeah, friend..
Your recklessness was annoying but also what makes you interesting in the lion's eye. It was so entertaining to see a creature with sentience to have very little to no sense of danger. While he doesn't like the part where he gets involved but when he isn't and you're just figuring stuff by yourself is such an amazing show he could watch forever. Well, as long as you don't get seriously injured or something because truth to be told, he doesn't want you in any type of physical pain because surprise surprise, you're his pal.
So when something Leona doesn't want to happen to you happened, he mentally groaned in annoyance because he needs to get up from this comfy spot under the tree but he's still worried of course, it's just not obvious at all. People would've thought that he hated you or something when he saw him walking to where you are with a dead cold stare. When he found out that you were your cause of agony, he gave you an "Are you serious" look. He's very disappointed facial expression makes you embarrassed even more now.
He spat out a monotone "you ok" line, you thought that he was a robot for a second. You said yes and he told you to get your ass up from the grass and you obliged but failed to do so. When he saw you winced as you were trying to get your left foot standing, he knew damn well you aren't ok and gets more worried. However, his expression never changed. He sighed one more time before picking and throwing you on his shoulder in one swift. Your struggles are no use as he was stronger than you.
He glared at the people that dared to stare, especially to the ones that were whispering to one another about utter nonsense, aka stupid "are they together?" Rumors. He decided to tell the nurse what's wrong with you but it was worded so bad that you had to do it in the end anyway, making him scoffed like he just didn't say "their ankle broke or something". He refused to return to his class because it's boring but deep inside, it was because he wants to stay by your side for the entire time of your recovery.
Even if you're discharged and able to walk with a walking boot, he still stuck at your side even from afar as he doesn't want to see you do anything stupid and maybe twist your spine as he does not doubt that you're capable of doing so because of how unpredictable you are. And maybe it's also because, from all the time he has spent with you during his visiting times, something about you shined more inside him. Inside where exactly? Inside his heart.
Jade loves this recklessness you hold. It's the reason why you're so unpredictable and he loves that about you. One second you will be the smartest person in the room, the next second you almost fall off from the second floor of the school building because some of your papers were accidentally been blown by the wind. While sometimes it can be quite troubling, most of the time it's enjoyable.
But now is the times where it's not as entertaining. He did the wrong decision of not keeping his eyes off you for more than 20 minutes to focus and trying to hone his flying skills as he heard you wailed in pain somewhere not too far away. He walked his way calmly to the source of your sounds of misery and see you lying on the grass with the broom beside you, absolutely helpless. He chuckled at your deadpanned face before asking if you're ok. Whatever your answer is, he knows damn well you aren't as you were wincing a lot as you were trying your best to get up.
He offers to walk you to the infirmary and you happily oblige. Only like two or three people would stare for a few minutes as walking you there isn't an abnormal situation as they did it before as well for other injured students. Just as soon as you two reached the hallways, where nobody is around to glimpse, he picked your figure up and continue your journey to the infirmary. If you asked him why he's doing this, is because it's faster and convenient to do it this way. Also, your face got so red when he picks you up and he thinks it's adorable, making you even redder.
For real though, seeing you all blushed up is quite endearing, he might tease you even more just to see that red face again. Anyways, he perfectly explained the situation of your ankle with some condescending remarks in it. He's a very busy man so he doesn't have that much time to visit you so he wishes you to discharge as fast as soon as possible so he can see your lovely face as much as usual.
So when you do discharge, he would always accompany you to wherever you're going if he's not doing that already. No matter if you need a cast or not, he would always treat you like a patient or even more, like royalty. He believes that he should make it up for not being able to visit, especially since you're always complaining to him how boring it was staying in the infirmary bed for four weeks. He can even get you red with this little special treatment, so why not go for it? It even secretly makes his heartbeat fast as well.
Jack hates people who do not think before doing their actions and you are no exception. Nobody knows how you guys got to be friends to begin because it feels so impossible. Maybe because you two were paired up for an alchemy class project? But he still sticks with you for more than eight months already. Maybe he likes you? Or he's like your low-key guardian? Yes, the latter is the second but the first one could be a possibility, who knows.
That's why he gets more irritated when your recklessness is the cause of your distress. He could take it as your punishment for being so careless and take this as a lesson but knowing you, that will never happen so that gets him even more irritated. He runs up to you and scolds you for a few minutes about why you should be careful and such, it's surprising how he's so calm despite how many times he has scolded you about the same thing. After that useless scolding, he finally asked if you were alright or not. He scoffed when you lied about your ankle injury and have no choice but to pick you up from the grass.
Why would you even try to make him drop you off? It doesn't matter how much you annoy him on the way to the infirmary. If someone's injured he takes thing seriously, especially if it's his totally platonic mate that was in pain no matter how severe it is. He would get rather defensive and would throw hands with people who are saying things that maybe your relationship is more than friends so, please remind him that you're injured and your health is something he shouldn't be easily distracted and fight people who don't know how to mind their business, even though you might not care for your ankle yourself.
You kinda did not tell him what's wrong with you nor did he even asked in the first place so you'll do the talking. He got pretty surprised when you told the nurse you have an ankle injury, even more, astonished when that it's in a severe category now. He didn't like that you were taking your conditions lightly and joking about it too. He's a good boy, so he would follow the nurse's orders to leave to resume his lessons. Just like Vil and Jade, he wouldn't visit you every day as he still needs to prioritize his school life and such. Though, he might cut a tiny bit of his workout schedule to visit you until you discharge.
So when you do discharge no matter if you need a walking boot or a cast or just nothing, he will keep his eyes on you more frequently as he doesn't want to see you do some dumb stunt and hurt yourself again. He would make your stay in the Savanaclaw areas close to him and let you do whatever you want while he works out. As long as you stay nearby and don't wander off. I repeat, he doesn't want his probably future lifelong mate to have a single scratch on their face.
OMG!!!!! I FINALLY FINISHED A FIC DESPITE GETTING ALWAYS DISTRACTED!!! I'M SOOOOO HAPPY!!!!! 😭💜✨✨
Drunk Texting Is(n’t) Bad for Your Health- Chapter Seven
Series Summary: Talk about your unconventional meet-cute! Bucky receives a text by mistake requesting he prove he’s not Reader’s sister. The easy dialogue between Reader and Bucky sparks a natural friendship, but could it lead to more? Bucky still deems himself unworthy of any form of affection or love. Reader is hellbent to prove him wrong. With the help of some (meddling) friends along the way, Bucky may get his happily-ever-after after all.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Word Count: 2684
Warnings: ANGST, bad language words
A/N: Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your love and support for this series! Everyone who has liked or reblogged this week after week means the world to me!
A/N 2: I split their date into 2 parts because I wanted to give perspective from both sides. Enjoy Bucky’s POV first!
DO NOT copy or replicate without my permission.
An anxiousness bubbled up inside Bucky as he and (Y/N) stepped out of her office building and onto the crowded Manhattan sidewalk. It was five o’clock, meaning every other yuppie in New York was trying to get somewhere as well. Walking shoulder to shoulder with her felt like a feat in itself. Everyone around them seemed to be heading in the opposite direction, and they were fighting against the current like a pair of spawning salmon swimming upstream.
With his size and stature, most passers-by gave Bucky a wide berth. But with (Y/N), they didn’t. They jostled her like a small boat caught at sea during a storm; they gave her no mind in their rudeness. She fought to stay astride him as businessmen shouldered past her like a runningback fighting to make it to the endzone.
A feeling of protectiveness washed over him. Longing to whisk (Y/N) away from her place on the dirty cement increased with every step. The defensive surge fizzing right below the surface wanted him to tuck her into his side and glower at anyone who dreamed of coming close.
Bucky couldn’t, of course. He had to play it as if they’d only met a few days ago, no matter how much he wanted to. Instead, he grasped her empty hand and led her through the swarm of fellow New Yorkers.
(Y/N)’s hand was warm inside his, and the very thought of him touching her made his pulse quicken. The reaction wasn’t unpleasant. Though, it fuzzily reminded him of his teenage years. He was nearly one hundred years old! He shouldn’t be acting like a lovesick fool.
But here he was- swooning over a girl like he was fifteen again.
Bucky felt a yanking on his arm as (Y/N) pulled him from the stream of rushing bodies. Unmoving, at the edge of the rush, he found it was easier to breathe again. The fretfulness bled away once they were standing still.
He peered around, questioning why they’d stopped. Wedged between two high-rise buildings was a squat cafe. The shop’s window front beamed onto the footpath like the mecca it was, calling bystanders in from the street. Above the green striped awning over the entrance spelled out Deja Brew in colorful, blocky letters. Bucky chuckled at the play on words.
Towing the door open, (Y/N) tugged him in further.
Stepping inside the brightly lit coffee shop, Bucky was blanketed by the overpowering scent of fresh coffee grounds. It was potent, hanging thick in the air. Taking a deep breath in, he was transported back to a rickety kitchen and a second-hand table, where he and Steve would take their morning coffee and breakfast. The smell reminded him of simpler times. Times before all the trouble Hydra had caused. He let go of a nostalgic sigh.
“Right?” (Y/N) asked, standing at his side. He’d nearly forgotten she was there. “I love it here. It always feels like coming home.”
Bucky grinned down at (Y/N), understanding how she felt. The exposed brick walls, the tidy, destressed floors, and the primary colors being strewn about the space gave him a sense of sentimentality.
“I come in here several times a week,” she explained. “Not just because it’s convenient, but it reminds me of growing up.”
Bucky nodded in agreement, taking in the warm atmosphere of the quaint shop. “I get that.”
The pair strolled up to the counter and, presumably, the barista taking orders. Without looking in their direction, the young man in an apron spoke in a monotone, “Welcome to Deja Brew. What can I get started for you?”
A smile slowly crawled across (Y/N)’s lips. “Hey, Bryson. Didn’t know you were working tonight?”
Bryson’s head whipped up so fast; Bucky thought it might detach from his shoulders. His cheeks dimpled, and the corners of his striking green eyes crinkled into a bright smile. “Hey, beautiful!” Bryson beamed. “I’m doing a double--covering for Kari. I wasn’t expecting you tonight.”
“You know me,” (Y/N) said with a tinkling laugh. “Just can’t stay away.” Bryson replied with his own laughter.
A flare of jealousy twisted unexpectedly in Bucky’s gut. Was (Y/N) flirting?
Bucky supposed he could consider Bryson classically handsome. He was taller than Bucky with short, sandy brown hair and broad shoulders. His muscular frame filled out the black polo shirt he wore, but he wasn’t overly bulky- like he played baseball in college. There was a smattering of light freckles over his high cheekbones and straight nose. And eyelashes to rival Steve’s.
Was this his competition?
Bucky grumbled to himself and gritted his teeth as he watched the two giggle over some inside joke. There was an envious gnawing behind his ribcage as Bryson leaned onto his elbows over the countertop, inching closer to (Y/N). That was his girl!
Without warning, like a shaken soda bottle, his voice exploded from his mouth, dripping annoyance, “I’ll take a medium Americano, a chocolate croissant, and whatever the lady is having.”
Shocked back into the present by Bucky’s gruff words, Bryson shot upright. His startled green eyes shifted from (Y/N) to Bucky and back again. Bucky could barely contain his eye-roll as the other man feigned busyness after being caught slacking. It was apparent Bryson only had eyes for (Y/N), or he would have noticed she wasn’t alone, despite Bucky standing mere centimeters away from her.
Possessiveness tingled at Bucky’s fingertips, and the compulsion to wrap his arm around (Y/N)’s waist was strong. He wanted so badly to reach out and pull her close. Show this punk who she belonged to.
Regardless of his feelings, though, Bucky had no claim over (Y/N). He’d known her as Bucky for a scant three days. He imagined she’d known Bryson a lot longer. He couldn’t profess his desire to be hers in such a short time, no matter the urgency. It would come off as weird and controlling.
So, he resolved to bite the inside of his cheek and grin and bear it. He could bide his time, right? He’d waited seventy years. What’s another seventy more?
Bucky cringed internally at the thought of waiting.
“(Y/N), you know this guy?” Bryson inquired, acting as if he’d finally grown a pair, with a bite to his words.
Bucky’s pulse fluttered as (Y/N) turned to face him, a smile on her lips and something sparkling in her eyes. “I do,” she said. “He’s my date.” She grinned bigger with a cute scrunch to her nose as she said date.
Bryson’s eyes widened in alarm, then quickly narrowed in suspicion as he observed the flowers (Y/N) held. Bucky wondered, momentarily, if he was the first guy (Y/N) had ever brought into the shop. Was Bryson just as jealous as he was?
It wasn’t until he saw the almost imperceivable head tilt to get (Y/N) to step away from Bucky’s side did he realize what Bryson’s genuine concern was about.
(Y/N)’s brow furrowed in confusion as she took a stride to her right.
In a hushed whisper, Bryson asked, “You know who he is, right?” Bucky’s super-hearing picked up every word.
(Y/N) unsuccessfully tried to blink away her uncertainty, causing her eyebrows to pinch together further. “Who exactly is he, Bryson?” (Y/N) pondered, an edge of irritation leaking into her speech. She crossed her arms over her chest, drawing her sweater tighter around her body.
Bucky could hear it in her voice. (Y/N) knew precisely what Bryson had meant and was trying to draw it out of him.
“You know,” Bryson said, not even trying to whisper anymore. “He’s that guy.”
(Y/N) cocked her head to the side a fraction. “You mean the guy who the US government exonerated for any and all crimes he may have committed as The Winter Soldier? You mean that guy?” (Y/N) deadpanned, uncrossing her arms. Bryson stared at her blankly.
“What about the guy who got drafted into a war unwillingly?” (Y/N) continued. “Or the one captured by the enemy and experimented on against his will?” Her hands curled into fists as the tension in her body rose. Bryson’s eye contact suddenly became very jumpy, unable to focus on her now and for a good reason.
“How about the guy who fell from a train- survived- and had his arm barbarically amputated?”
Bucky watched (Y/N)’s hands tighten further, blanching her knuckles of any color. He shuffled forward, ready to jump in if need be. Although, she was doing a good job holding her own.
“Don’t forget about that one guy who was tortured and abused, brainwashed, and forced to commit unspeakable atrocities for over seventy years, all in the name of a cult,” (Y/N) stated, pressing her palms flat against the countertop and ducking her head, trying to catch Bryson’s eye. His face flushed visibly in embarrassment.
“In case you aren’t caught up on your current events, Bryson, that guy’s name is Bucky Barnes,” (Y/N) spit sardonically.
Bryson raised his eyes at this, and the look on his face darkened. “Regardless of whether he was brainwashed or not, he’s an Avenger,” Bryson sneered, his gaze sliding to Bucky. “And that makes him dangerous.”
What the hell was this guy’s problem? Bucky wondered, wanting to wipe the smirk off his smug face.
(Y/N) let out a humorless huff of a laugh. Her lips spread into a thin line. “No more dangerous than the possibility of being struck by lightning or getting hit by a subway train.”
Bucky chuckled inwardly as Bryson flexed his jaw in frustration. (Y/N) was really getting to him.
Bryson’s expression morphed into something more sinister. “I mean, are you really going to take the word of some ‘expert’ from a third-world country that he won’t turn into a murder-bot again?” The air-quotes in his tone punctuated the contempt he undeniably felt.
Anger blossomed in Bucky’s chest at the degrading mention of the Princess of Wakanda. He owed everything to Shuri. If it weren’t for her, he definitely wouldn’t be in New York right now but on the run again. Shuri saved his life.
Bucky took a step toward the counter, intending to do something, anything to shut this jackass up. Instead, (Y/N) placed a calming hand to his sternum, stopping him from doing anything rash. The look of disdain on Bryson’s face amplified the longer (Y/N)’s touch lingered on his body, and that was equally as satisfying as causing this prick bodily harm.
“While your concern is unwarranted,” (Y/N) assured, “it’s also unwanted. I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself.”
She gazed up into Bucky’s blue eyes fondly; a charming smile curled at her lips. “Besides, I don’t think he’d hurt a fly now.”
“It’s your funeral,” Bryson mumbled under his breath. (Y/N) didn’t catch it, or she paid it no mind.
The affection Bucky felt for (Y/N) at that moment swelled exponentially. He was in love with her, he realized. It was no longer just a crush.
No one, other than Steve, had ever championed for him as openly or as forcefully as she had just then. The adoration accumulating in his heart felt like it would erupt at any minute. She made him want to believe in love again. She made him think he might be worthy of that love someday.
He’d have to find a way to earn it, somehow.
Staring into her beautiful face and seeing compassion and empathy made him want to press his lips to hers. He still couldn’t believe she’d found him on accident. It was all so serendipitous.
There was one crucial roadblock obstructing his path to happiness, though. One he couldn’t possibly ignore for much longer without consequences— figuring out how to tell (Y/N) he and James were the same. But how?
Until then, he’d enjoy the ride.
“Hey, Bryson,” (Y/N) vocalized, her timbre a saccharine sweet. “I’ll take a medium iced mocha with extra whip and a white chocolate raspberry scone as well.” She winked at Bucky.
A scoff came from low in the pastry case causing Bucky and (Y/N) to titter in laughter.
“Wow. That was-” Bucky started, trying to find the words to explain how her coming to his defense made him feel.
(Y/N)’s pupils dilated, the gravity of the situation sinking in. “Oh, my God!” she said in a near panic. “I’m so sorry!”
Bucky smiled at her warmly. “There’s nothing to be sorry for.” He brushed a stray hair from her cheek delicately, his fingers dallying along the soft skin. The palm of his hand settled just below her ear, on the side of her neck. His thumb bobbed up and down with every clench and unclenching of her jaw.
“You must be so sick of hearing the same argument over and over again. People deciding your guilt or innocence based on first glances,” (Y/N) murmured, finally dropping her hand from his chest.
Bucky wondered if she could feel the pounding of his heart through all the layers of clothes he was wearing. “It’s nice to have a cheerleader, for once,” he answered honestly.
The corner of (Y/N)’s mouth quirked up. “I’ll always be in your corner, Bucky.”
His stomach dipped at her words’ implications. He whole-heartedly believed she would. “Thank you.”
(Y/N) shrugged in response. Over her bouncing shoulder, Bucky caught a glimpse of Bryson scowling at the two of them from his spot at the espresso machine. Bile churned in his belly. Bryson was turning into a nuisance, like a mosquito at a summer barbeque.
Bucky brought the hand at (Y/N)’s neck down to her upper arm and rubbed it gently. “Why don’t you find us a seat. I’ll finish up here,” he said, giving her a lopsided grin. She returned the gesture and nodded her head in acquiescence, sweeping past him.
Bucky followed her movements through the coffeehouse as she picked a cushioned bistro set positioned near the front windows. The waning light of the day cascaded through the clear glass, highlighting her delicate, feminine features. She was breathtaking.
Turning to face the dreadful barista, the grin on Bucky’s lips faded into a frown.
Bryson set their order down roughly on the register counter and proceeded to punch in the items on the touchscreen. He remained silent, mulishly waiting for payment. The death glare he wore seemed to be permanently etched into his features now.
Bucky could tell he was seething; the vein in his forehead throbbed with every beat of his pulse. Instead of engaging, though, Bucky smirked and slid a twenty-dollar bill toward the other man.
Bryson angrily scooped up the money. He bent his head closer to Bucky, gnashing his teeth. “If you hurt a single hair on her head, I will burn you to the ground,” he taunted, reaching into the till for change and tossing it on the counter.
Bucky’s expression never faltered. His exterior remained composed, cool as a cucumber. Inside, he raged like a bull seeing the color red. He wanted nothing more than to mop the floor with this asshole’s face. Alternatively, he gathered the littered change and dumped it all into the tip jar sitting beside the register. He stared Bryson dead in the face, a ghost of a smile still clinging to his mouth. “And if I ever hear of you treating (Y/N) with the blatant disrespect you showed her today…” Bucky paused, his voice calm and controlled. He leaned forward, pushing in closer to Bryson’s ear. “They’ll never find your body.”
The joy he felt coursing through his body as Bryson’s eyes stretched to the size of saucers and his Adam’s apple wobbled as he gulped in fear was indescribable.
Bucky gathered their drinks and pastries, pivoting towards the table where (Y/N) sat. He shouted over his shoulder as he walked away, “Have a good day, Bryson!”
