boomer developing for the worst + the girls
after Boomer's tom and jerry shit in the last chapter, i love all the conversations about how boomer is the only one that's getting worse than he was when the boys arrived in Townsville. He's giving into his more evil and irrational impulses simply because he can, he's snippier, not listening to Brick as much. While Brick and Butch are getting softer and their feelings for the girls are changing their behaviors for the better, Boomer's feelings for Bubbles are making him worse.
what i'm also noticing is something kinda similar happening to the Girls, especially with Blossom and Bubbles. Out of the three of them, Bubbles isn't worst, she's just changed the least. There isn't as much tension in the blues relationship that would make her change as much in the first place. she's the most stable, and she's just also been getting increasingly worried about having to actually deal with who Boomer is/what his job is, especially when Penny showed up. And that same moment with Penny is when I noticed that Blossom really started changing.
Like, here comes Penny, the perfect lead into why the Boys actually came to Townsville, someone who has put both her sisters on edge, with an unknown tie to Mrs. Morbucks, and what does Blossom do? She decides to not be nosy. Our number one snoop decides to let things be. I literally love this moment in Blossom's development, because it really makes her feel her age. She's a girl, with a crush, and she wants things to maybe work out with said crush. Or at least not get any worse. And from that moment on, she has these moments where she doesn't correct Brick's cursing as harshly as she might have in the beginning, she's trying to give Brick space, and she's kinda gotten more flirty! i'm actually so excited for a moment where Blossom's gonna get tired of all the little interruptions and take the lead. Because she's still #LeaderGirl, and its fun when she knows what she wants and takes it! she's finally started acting like a teenager since the Boys came.
i haven't been looking through the greens moments as much while I've been rereading but I know that Miss "Let's Feel Each Other Up in the Woods" has obvi been getting a lot more vulnerable and comfortable with Butch than she has with anyone else in her life. Having a friendship where you feel comfortable exploring an impulse about your sexuality and then still be comfortable in your friendship afterwards, even if they were awkward for a second? I know people in their 20s who couldn't handle intimacy like that. And I know the Buttercup from the beginning definitely couldn't have handled that.

Scrappy seems like an easy character to fix, but Warner Bros is too lazy to do it
Have him stop saying "puppy power"
Still have him willing to square up, but also occasionally back down if the threat is too big.
Have him walk on all fours and act more like a puppy instead of a tiny man in a puppy costume.
Change the voice to sound more like a kid. Not over the top "trying too hard to be cute" thing like what they did to Toodles in Tom and Jerry, though. More like something you'd hear in "A Pup named Scooby-Doo" or "Kids Next Door"
Make sure he doesn't get more screen time than the other characters, that was one of the main complaints about him. If that's not doable for some reason, just have him occasionally appear as a guest character.
Don't have him save the day 90% of the time.
It's really not that hard, but WB is milking the "Let's make fun of Scrappy" cow too much to put any effort in. BUT THEY WERE WILLING TO FIX FLIM FLAM, WHO'S HONESTLY SO MUCH WORSE

Meet Jeremy Sullivan
The most speedy Student at Mann Secondary School and Sixth Form. The runt of a rather large family it's clear that he was slightly neglected but so were all his other brothers as having one mother to share around 8 children is quite the task.
Being the so-called runt of a large family does have other consequences than just not receiving enough attention, it also gave his brothers the perfect opportunities to give stupider and stupider nicknames to him. To his brothers James and Jonny, he's simply 'Rat', as the twins used to call him 'Remy' until they watched Ratatouille, and found it quite funny. For Jacob, it is 'Jerbel.' Their mother always called him 'Jerry', which in turn led to Jefferey Jordan and Jackson calling him 'Mouse' as a Tom and Jerry joke. And because he's just quite boring, Julian just calls him Jeremy. Of course with his mother, nicknames are far from the insults and rodents of his brothers. Her favorites are 'Jerry', 'Jer-bear' and 'Cupcake'. She especially likes to do this when his friends are round to embarrass him further.
As he was the youngest in his family, and from his brothers' constant 'banter', as they put it, he often felt like he was the weakest member of their family, and that he had something to prove. And so to prove himself, he started to do sports, especially rounders and cross-country running, eventually dropping the other sports just to focus on those ones.
Aside from sports, Jeremy also quite enjoys drawing and arts, and in fact, he's quite good at it. However, he doesn't use his talents for much good just often drawing little doodles of his friends or characters, and never drawing anything big. One of the things he draws most often however is the French exchange student who's living with his family in odd situations.
And now we get onto 'Spy', as despite living with the Sullivan family for just over a year, no one actually knows his name, or what he looks like (except for one person), and by god, does he and Jeremy fight. Most of it is verbal, but occasionally there is a physical fight; like the massive one that got them in isolation for a while, and almost excluded, but that's a story for another day! Other than the constant fighting, they can actually be nice to each other occasionally. Like for example, Jeremy goes to 'Spy' for girl advice, specifically with a certain sixth former.
F. Pauling, or just Pauling as she's more commonly known, is the chosen infatuation of the two-year junior. Despite his many attempts at winning her over, she says that she just sees him as an annoying younger brother, and with how many brothers he has a lot of people see him that way.

Relationships
Jane 'Soldier' Doe: They sit next to each other in PE, so hardly any work gets done. Not to mention the fights that Jane often initiates and Jeremy often loses
?? 'Pyro' ??: This pair just often sits and draws in either the most random places in the corridor or near where the library ghosts hang out.
Tavish 'Demoman' Degroot and Mikhail 'Heavy' Ivanov: The designated 'Bonk!' suppliers. Tavish gets it for him by simply not ID-ing him when he buys it, and Mikhail gets it for him by saying it's for himself, and with how old and tall Mikhail is, it's no wonder why the cashiers don't ID him.
Ludwig 'Doc' Koch: With how often Jeremy gets injured in his fights with Jane, it's no wonder why Ludwig's most often patient is none other than Jeremy.
Mun-dee 'Mick' 'Sniper' Mundy: Two of four members of the friend group to be in yr10, however, they haven't actually talked that much.
?? 'Spy' ??: It's a complicated friendship, in fact, they're more like brothers than they are friends.
F. Pauling: Its incredibly awkward when they're alone, especially when Jeremy tries to break the silence, with an even worse flirt.

Request by @elvispresleyxoxo - yes that’s completely fine! I was wondering if you could do one where reader knows elvis is cheating with ann margaret and confront him in front of all of the memphis mafia maybe even ann margaret if your comfortable with that! she tells elvis that she loves him ,shares like smutty details about there sex life ( if ann margaret is there could reader be like does he do that to you to, but again if your uncomfortable with that you don’t have to write that) , just overall a messy argument in front of everyone. but in the end elvis lashes out and takes her into another room and makes love to her and everyone can hear them she comes back like embarrassed but yk forgives him , you can choose the ending around the ann margaret situation if your comfortable writing that part x
One would think that being in a relationship with Elvis Presley would be fun. And for the most part, it is but not always. Sometimes the glitz and the glamour of Hollywood isn't parties and shows, it's dreadfully boring meetings with studio executives that come disguised as evening dinner parties. Whilst Elvis allowed the Colonel to negotiate most of the deals he was required to be present, something that no doubt allowed the Colonel to do what he wanted whilst having the excuse that Elvis never protested even though he was ten people down the table. As long as Elvis showed up the Colonel was happy but to keep Elvis happy he needed distractions. Which was why he brought friends. Members of the Mafia or me, someone he could talk to whilst they hashed out details of contracts that didn't interest him. The upside of these meetings was that they were largely comped by the networks meaning they were almost exclusively held in fancy hotels or restaurants rather than the dreary offices of Paramount. That was why tonight we would be dining at Perino's.
As we walked into the room my eyes roved over the table that was already jam-packed full of people, as ever we were the last to arrive. The majority of it was made up of men in stiff suits, business types, and members of Elvis' entourage who always tried so desperately to fit in at these things but somehow always seemed to look like boys play acting as Hollywood bigwigs. And then my eyes landed on the end of the table. On the only other woman in the room. Ann-Margaret.
Whilst Elvis' schmoozed his way through the crowd of people that had jumped up to greet him my eyes remained locked on her. Her red-golden hair was pushed back from her face, her natural makeup accentuating her large eyes and full lips in the dim ambient lighting. She looked beautiful. She was chatting to a man I didn't know seemingly unbothered by our entrance, a fact that made my heart sink. After all, why would she? She knew Elvis well. Too well. The novelty of his presence had no doubt rubbed off for her.
A million thoughts circled in my mind. What was she doing here? Had Elvis invited her? Had the network? I didn't know which of those options was worse. Either way, it signalled that she wasn't going anywhere much to my sadness. They had just debuted their first film together, Viva Las Vegas, and it was a hit. Elvis had even seemed to enjoy himself on this production which I was ecstatic for. He seemed more lenient with the scripts, happier to sing the same old songs he'd been given and altogether more enthusiastic whenever he'd called home. It was only when I flew out to Vegas for the last few days of filming I saw why.
I couldn't blame him I supposed. After all she was a beautiful, charming and magnetic woman. The press liked her. The Mafia liked her. Elvis liked her. But I couldn't bring myself to. He'd been like this before of course. No matter what I did he couldn't seem to stay true yet none of the others ever bothered me...but she did. Because I could feel the way he felt about her. The others never bothered me because I knew he didn't love them but with her? The potential was there. Another two or three films, who knew what could happen?
Tears stung at my eyes but I forced them back, going through the motions of greeting people until I could finally drop down into my seat beside Elvis. Ann-Margaret was sitting on his other side. I didn't listen to either of them as they started to talk. Instead, I grabbed the bottle of wine that had been left on the table and poured myself a large glassful, immediately sipping it down as much as I could. Neither of them even noticed.
✵✵✵
I didn't want to talk. I didn't want to even be here. As everyone laughed and joked around me I sat in silence nursing whatever number glass of wine I was up to and watching Elvis and Ann-Margaret talk. It was like slow torture. Every laugh, every coy smile, every touch of the hand was like another rock being placed on my chest until I couldn't breathe. I had to get out of there. I stood up from the table, gripping onto it for balance as the alcohol in my system hit me full on making me woozy.
'You alright honey?' Elvis said, finally noticing me. His hand gently touched the back of mine but I pulled mine out from under his.
'Fine, I just need the restroom,' I said. Elvis looked at me curiously but I didn't stay there long enough for him to ask any questions. I wanted to cry. Or scream. Or throw up. I fled to the bathroom and locked myself in the stall, trying to calm myself down. I knew there was no point getting upset. I couldn’t make a scene and I couldn’t go home not without Elvis wondering what was wrong so I put on my most composed expression and returned to the table trying to ignore the tears that threatened to spill over at any moment. I hurried my way back to my seat, noticing how the waiters had started arriving at the table placing our orders down in front of us. As a bowl full of pasta dropped into place in front of me a young waiter appeared at Elvis' side.
'Steak?' the waiter asked.
'Here,' Elvis said, allowing him to place the plate down in front of him. My eyes scanned his plate though where I expected to see a block of charcoal in place of steak I found a normal-looking piece of meat looking back at me.
'You should send that back,' I blurted out. Elvis looked at me for a second, suddenly realising I was back in the room, and shook his head.
'It's fine,' Elvis said as he picked up his napkin and dropped it on his lap.
'It's rare,' I said.
'Like I said it's fine,' Elvis said.
'You hate your food rare,' I said, utterly perplexed. It was true. Any who knew him knew that unless it was absolutely cremated Elvis wouldn't eat it. Before now he'd sent food back in restaurants up to three times until it was completely obliterated.
'It's not a big deal,' Elvis gritted out looking up the table. My voice had been louder than intended thanks to the alcohol meaning I was no longer the only one looking at him. He was now the spectacle of the show with almost everyone peering down the table at what was going on. He didn't flounder though and instead he cut a neat piece of meat off the end and though he couldn't stop himself from grimacing as blood oozed out onto his plate he hoyed it into his mouth and choked it down all the same.
'How is it?' I asked after it was gone.
'Fine,' he said, taking a sip of his iced water.
'See!' Ann said placing a dainty hand on his bicep, 'I told you it wouldn't be that bad.'
'What?' I said, confused. She looked at me with a smile though Elvis kept his head down sheepishly.
'Last time we had dinner he ordered this thing, it looked more like a tire than a piece of meat, and I told him all that burnt stuff was bad for his health,' she said, 'too many carcinogens. It's much healthier to have your meat medium or rare.'
'Yeah, I think I've heard that before,' Joe said from the side of me.
'The question is what isn't bad for you these days,' Sonny chimed in, 'though good on you for makin' EP change his mind about the bits of rubber he calls meat.'
'Yeah that's a feat in itself,' Joe said. Their conversation continued but I couldn't join in. My blood was boiling, the alcohol well and truly taking hold as I watched him. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. After years of moaning at him to eat someone that resembled an edible meal and him refusing he’d elected to make a change after one meal with her. It was like a punch to the gut. My jealousy took a hold consuming every fibre of my being. Elvis wasn't paying much attention and was instead scarfing down his pink steak punctuating it with sips of water to no doubt dilute the taste. My focus didn't land on him however, it landed across the table. I wanted to make her feel as bad as I did. To ruin her night like she had ruined mine. I could feel my words coming on fast and there was no way to stop them.
'Oh, I don't know. I wouldn’t say it’s that hard to change his mind,' I said taking a sip of wine as I rested back in my chair. I could feel several pairs of eyes land on me, including Elvis and Ann's.
'Remind me of that when I'm trying to pry him out of bed to go to the lot,' Joe chuckled.
'You just need to know how to handle him,' I said, 'ain’t that right sweetie?'
'You think you can handle me?' Elvis said quirking an eyebrow. He was playing along in front of the boys but I could see him hesitate, not knowing where I was going with it.
'Of course, though it seems like I'm not the only one. Right, Ann?' I asked with a fake smile. Ann glanced at Elvis and then back at me.
'Oh I wouldn't say I can handle him like you,' she said an embarrassed blush on her pretty face.
'But he listens to you,’ I said, ‘I mean you got him to eat something other than black steak. That’s some feat.’
‘Like I said it’s nothing,’ she said shifting awkwardly in her seat. I didn’t care though. I could feel more and more people staring curiously at me, wondering what the hell I was going on about, Elvis too but I didn’t pay them any attention.
‘How did you do it?’ I said.
‘What?’ she asked glancing at Elvis for help.
‘It’s a simple question,’ I said leaning forward and running my finger around the rim of my wine glass, ‘I mean I know how I’d do it. You know one time Elvis took me shopping and I found this beautiful Chanel number, you remember that right honey? The one with all the buttons? Anyway, he’s moaning about it telling me it looks like something a sailor would wear but me? I love it, so you know I did?’
‘What?’ Ann said quietly unable to ignore me as I watched her intently my gaze never wandering from her green eyes.
‘I got down on my knees and blew him right there in the dressing room,’ I said.
‘Y/N!’ Elvis snapped.
‘Soon got him to change his mind-’
‘That’s enough,’ Elvis said.
‘You know he can’t even see anything naval without sporting wood,’ I giggled.
‘Stop it,’ Elvis said standing up and yanking me out of my seat by my bicep. Though his grip was tight on my arm it was a good job he was holding me as I was unsteady enough that I would’ve toppled over if it hadn’t been for him.
‘What? We’re just swapping girly stories, right Annie? I bet she could tell me just how she gets you to do stuff don’t you think? I bet it’s not all that dissimilar, huh baby?’ I sneered.
‘You’re drunk,’ he said.
‘And you’re screwing your co-star,’ I said. Joe pushed my other side keeping me on balance as I yanked my arm out of Elvis’ grasp. Ann’s face paled before going deep crimson as she dropped her gaze to her lap. Elvis said nothing his face thunderous as everyone watched the pair of us just looking at each other.
‘Can’t even deny it can you?’ I said looking at him. I shook my head, grabbed the bottle of wine off the table and walked off out into the foyer. I didn’t know where I was going. The car wouldn’t be waiting and I didn’t feel like heading outside. I didn’t need to worry though as I felt a hand grasp my elbow, pushing me towards a door until I was roughly thrust through it into a storeroom of sorts. I fell inside, looking up to find Elvis standing by the door blocking my only exit.
‘What the hell do you think you’re playing at?!’ he snapped.
‘Me?! You’re fucking someone else and you’re angry at me!?’ I baulked.
‘It’s not like that,’ he said.
‘Yeah sure,’ I snorted.
‘Nothing’s going on,’ he said.
‘Nothing’s going on now? Or nothing’s ever happened,’ I said coming towards him. His jaw was tight as he looked down at me but my expression never changed. I was challenging him to tell me I was wrong.
‘It’s over,’ he said making me pull back shaking my head, ‘it has been for a while.’
‘Since I came to town and spoiled your fun?’ I said taking a swig from my bottle before setting it down on a shelf.
‘Since I remembered how much I love you,’ he said making me roll my eyes, ‘what you don’t believe me?’
‘Until I’m not around right,’ I said.
‘It’s not like that,’ he said coming towards me. I folded my arms across my chest to stop him from touching me, ‘you don’t think I know how pathetic I am? That I don’t know I’m weak? I know I’m not worth the ground you walk on and yet you still keep me around. I know I don’t deserve you Y/N…but I love you and I’m sorry.’
‘You always are,’ I said an errant tear trickling down my cheek. He moved to wrap his arms around me but I stayed still, letting his strong hold engulf me.
‘Do you love her?’ I said in almost a whisper. He was so close to me that I could feel the warmth of his breath on my face, the heat of his body matching that of my own.
‘Not as much as I love you,’ he said pressing his forehead to mine before he placed a kiss on my cheek. His lips kissed my tears away until finally, they landed on my lips. He kissed me, waiting for my permission to take it further. I tried to stop. I knew I should. But I loved him. I always would, so I moved my lips against his. He took this as a positive sign and deepened the kiss pushing me backwards until my back hit the wall. I didn’t do much of the work. His lips were everywhere all at once, touching every piece of skin they could find and leaving fire in their wake. His kisses were interspersed by murmurs of adoration as if his words could wipe away his actions for good.
‘I love you,’ he said as his hand slipped under my dress, teasing through my folds before he moved my panties to the side and slipped inside me, hoisting me up until my legs were wrapped around his waist. The wall was uncomfortable against my back but I couldn’t focus on that as Elvis’ fingers made their way to my sensitive bud, stroking it in time with his movements in and out of me. His name was all I could manage to whimper against his neck as the feeling of ecstasy started mounting in my core.
‘Baby,’ he grunted as his hips started faltering in rhythm.
‘Oh god,’ I said trembling around him with a whimper. He moved his hips in haphazard snaps against me until he groaned loudly, his breath hot and wet against my neck as he buried his face against my skin. After a moment he came round, pressing his forehead against mine. I could feel him softening inside me yet neither of us moved, my fingers tracing small circles on the nape of his neck as our breaths intermingled.
‘I love you,’ he said after a moment.
‘Enough to stop seeing her?’ I said.
‘Like I said. It’s over,’ he said pulling away from me so he could gently place me on my feet. His hand was tender against my cheek, his thumb stroking against my skin gently. I watched his face for a moment as if I would be able to tell the future from his expression alone. I knew it was pointless. I knew that whatever was going to happen in the future would happen regardless. But I loved him. With everything I had. So, I pulled away and nodded ever so slightly. He kissed the top of my head and then led me out of the storage cupboard. There weren’t many people in the foyer but those that were there were sure to know what had just transpired. Joe, Sonny, Red and Jerry congregated by the door of the dining room probably unsure of what they were supposed to be doing in Elvis' absence. That or they were forming a human barrier in case I wanted to head back inside for round two.
‘Give me a minute,’ he said squeezing my hand before he dropped it and headed over to the boys where they began talking in hushed whispers. I could feel the eyes of the waitstaff watching me as I stood in the foyer and so I quickly ducked into the restroom to freshen up. I looked a little messy. My tears had given me black smudges under my eyes and my lipstick was smudged from Elvis kissing me. I grabbed a paper towel and started to retouch the damage but I slowed my actions down as I noticed the toilet door opening.
Ann stepped out.
‘Oh,’ she said, ‘um sorry I didn't know-’
‘It’s fine,’ I said straightening up and tossing the paper towel in the trash.
‘Y/N,’ she said coming towards me offering to put a tender hand on my shoulder but I moved out of her way.
‘Don’t,’ I said. We stood there watching each other for a moment. I didn’t know what I was feeling. Anger. Sadness. Who knew? Whatever it was it felt awful and it was made even worse by the fact she looked genuinely remorseful.
‘I really am sorry,’ she said.
‘Just,’ I said my words disappearing. I didn’t know what to say. After all, how could I blame her? The charm, looks and appeal she had been lured in by was the one that kept me hooked. I couldn’t resist it any more than she could. How could I blame her for giving in to temptation?
‘I can’t lose him,’ I said. My hand was on the door handle now, my gaze locked on it as I refused to look up at her.
‘You were never going to,’ she said capturing my attention, ‘I’m not what he wants.’
‘Yeah, who’d want a gorgeous movie star, right?’ I said.
‘It's what he wants for a night. You get his mornings. His afternoons. You’re the one he calls when he’s had a bad day,’ she said, her eyes were sad though she was wearing a sympathetic smile, ‘you’re the one who’ll get his last name.’
‘I hope you’re right,’ I said and with that, I slipped out of the bathroom. Elvis looked around as I came out. He was standing with Jerry, waiting for me by the main entrance, the others sent to handle whatever needed fixing on my behalf.
‘Everything okay honey?’ he murmured as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and led me outside.
‘Fine,’ I said with a small sigh, ‘just fine.’

[squealing happily as i plop down on your lap, sharing my armloads of snacks and yummy fizzy drinks] OKAYOKAYOKAY , listen listenlistenlisten—
aside from the brainrot i've alr shared in dms , my frontal lobe has amplified the hyperfixation i have on + in this community right now so just imagine it with me.
like..... maybe it's just me , but there's something just so tantalizing about lee!changbin. right? just him being given all the love he could ever be given, all while being forced to see how adored he is , not only by his lovely members , but by stay as well!!~
idk if you know this but i'm an absolute sucker for the angst—hurt/comfort trope. 🥹 just the idea of one of the boys being comforted & reassured when they're going through a rough time heals me subconsciously , i think that's why i love it sm.
likeeee i was thinking of binnie & u take care of him so well in all your fics already they just :(( they make me so soft !! albeit , a certain puppy is catching my attention heavily these days. i was rly just thinking abt seungmin bro + how amazing he is?? like ,, his depth of character is smth i can ponder on and really marvel at. it baffles me cuz....
yk how seungminnie is one of the more misunderstood members?? he's known for being strong and disciplined and super dee duper smart , with cloud-soft features and the sweetest smile and a voice that lulls our stay nation into peace.... he's ofc our savage lil puppy 😆🥰. he's lovely and silly and entirely undermined. i want him to be caught in a vulnerable moment(s) , a moment(s) where he lets his walls down and allows himself to shed his composure and just feel the motions in all of its entirety and rawness. & his members are there for him every step of the way; they turn his bitter tears to joy and mirth , and suddenly the sky becomes one with the sun (that smile we love sm 😭🩵).
i dunno man, i just have a thing for the unflappable becoming.... flapped. (😭💀?) i have a thing for the cracks of humanity showing through what was previously thought impenetrable. in this case, the first members that come to mind are minho, seungmongmong... [ imagine a little hurt/comfort number with those two !! :(( our divorced-but-not-really couple. they may show to the cameras a tom-and-jerry esk relationship, but if anyone looks deeply, it's easy to see how their adoration for one another goes to the bones. aughhh imagine a small misunderstanding between them — maybe some staff/managers tell them to amp up their little love-hate concept, but it actually leads to an argument or something that goes beyond the cameras. tears are shed, words are exchanged, the works. they make up of course, and what better way to make up wounded plots other than sweet persuasive tickles and snuggles? 🤭🥹 ]
....... and our sweetpea wolf pup channie ofc.
gosh, that man works entirely too hard. every so often i remember the story from 2kr that he started crying from frustration and exhaustion, straight up in the middle of a meal, in a public restaurant, in front of seungmin, bc he trusted seungmin — solid as a rock seungmin — with his emotions in that moment and it's very much a whole thing to me. personally, i just want to pull him into an entirely too tight (but just-enough-ly comforting) hug that would last for hours, listen to any and all of his worries. from all the work and greatness he's been doing for years.... golly, i wouldn't mind if he went on a break that lasted a year or more. he deserves it, all of them do. they all work so hard :((
speaking of channie, imagine him breaking down in front of the members , or even worse , in secret (which i'm p sure happens irl too and i just MADE MHYSELF SADDER KJDJKSJH ITS NOT BC I BIAS HIM SHUDDUP 😭😭💔💔) from a reallyyyy bad stress pileup & maybe he even let it build up and slip to a point where he accidentally snaps a lil at his members :(( & ofc they go to look for him , either for confrontation or concern -> comfort (tho it would've led to that in any and all cases) just to find a sobbing and very regretful wolf pup licking at his wounds in painful silence and solitude <//3 :((
said member(s) would then take him into their lap , hold his hands in theirs and gently but firmly coax his worries out of him , hereby forcing him to say exactly what caused him to boil over and how to prevent it from happening in the near future bc they're there. he doesn't have to face his demons alone. & ofc , bc channie is channie , they get a slurred apology through his anguished tears , and he just lets himself be held as said member rocks him back and forth in their arms & channie cries it all out until he's drained.
+ once he's coaxed back into the land of the living with soft head scritches and readjusting of positions into a tighter hug, maaaaybe the hand(s) that had slipped into his hoodie [ skin-to-skin contact is very comforting + scientifically proven to bring such a sense , just like it's used to calm a crying baby :')) ] to rub small circles into his back rubbed down into his sides and , without rlly meaning to , he flinches and giggles bubble up from his tired throat. you can imagine how the rest goes 🥲🫠😚 & what a thing it'd be if seungmongie was this mystery member !! either him or minho ,,, and where one skz member is, the rest follow. it's just clockwork. or fate. 🥰
aghhhh i just,, love them. sm. sssssssoo much. they make me:
I WANNA FIND A WAY TO INCORPORATE ALL OF THIS INTO MY FICS BUT IDK HOWWW :C imma find a way zeep DO NOT WORRY
BUT LEE! MINHO AND LER! SEUNGMIN?!?! eating through my brain like termites to wood GRAHHHh 🫠🫠💗💗
LEE CHANNIE LER SKZ IS HAPPENING FOR TICKLETOBER DONTCHU WORRRYYY <3333
i love these love them love you love skz hadhwfnerifhenge

Looks like the abandoned Looney Tunes all-animated feature, THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP, finally got a U.S. distributor in Ketchup Entertainment. They're known for FERRARI, HYPNOTIC, a more recent Hellboy movie that's debuting later in the year, and a couple other random little pictures... Maybe not a big time distributor or one of the well-known smallies, but at least *some studio* got the picture and it WILL come to theaters.
No release date is set, which tells me that it'll probably debut during some quiet stretch some time next year? March is open, for starters. 2025 is a little sparse on big-time animated features, and might get even more sparse should this animation strike fully kick in soon. Comes on the heels of Warner Discovery posting some very, erm, embarrassing earnings. How's your strategy working out there, Davey?
It's astounding to me that the first-ever all-animated movie featuring characters from Warner Bros.' beloved Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies library is not being released by Warner Bros., but instead some small distributor. And it's already out in Europe...
This reminds me of something...
This was strangely the norm for some animated movies circa the late 1980s/early 1990s...
Some examples of these include... FELIX THE CAT: THE MOVIE, Don Bluth's ROCK-A-DOODLE, Filmation's unofficial Snow White sequel HAPPILY EVER AFTER, and TOM & JERRY: THE MOVIE.
All of these were released domestically well after a foreign release date, many months or even YEARS earlier.
FELIX THE CAT: THE MOVIE was completed around mid-1987 with a lot of the work outsourced to Hungary and Bulgaria, and had lost its original distributor, New World Pictures. It supposedly debuted at an Italian film festival sometime in fall 1988, but a lot of signs point to its January 1989 debut at the inaugural Los Angeles Animation Celebration being the first-ever screening of it. The UK got a theatrical release of the film in mid-to-late 1990, and here in the U.S., it ultimately skipped theaters for a direct-to-video release in August 1991. From Disney no less, under the Buena Vista Home Video label.
ROCK-A-DOODLE is known for being Bluth's bizarre follow-up to his more divisive ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN, which had trouble in theaters playing next to THE LITTLE MERMAID, but did much better on home video. ROCK-A-DOODLE did way worse and its critical reception wasn't great to say the least, but the interesting thing is, it was completed about a year after ALL DOGS' Thanksgiving 1989 theatrical release.
In fact, a trailer for it appears on the spring 1990 ALL DOGS VHS release, featuring cut and re-done footage after the focus groups had their say during post. ROCK-A-DOODLE also has a 1990 copyright date in its credits, but financial agita with their first pick of distributor (the very short-lived MGM-Pathe Communications) held up the release. Switching to The Samuel Goldwyn Company by the next year, they saw that fall 1991 was undoable, what with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and FIEVEL GOES WEST (the sequel to Bluth's own AN AMERICAN TAIL, which he bowed out of) opening around the Thanksgiving frame. ROCK-A-DOODLE finally opened in the U.S. in April 1992... It had already been released in the UK in August 1991, and a few other European markets until then.
HAPPILY EVER AFTER's a curious one, as that film went through at least one other title before being released... And a lot of legal battles with Disney. In fact, the film was released well after Filmation went under. HAPPILY EVER AFTER first debuted in the Philippines under the title SNOW WHITE: THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES in June 1989, and landed in various other markets shortly thereafter... The U.S. release wouldn't be until May 1993 via a shady distributor called First National Film Corp., funnily coinciding with Disney's SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS making its final run in theaters.
TOM & JERRY: THE MOVIE made its debut in Germany in October 1992, the U.S. release was from Miramax in May 1993. Same day as HAPPILY EVER AFTER, actually, the 28th. Weird how the first Tom & Jerry movie, based on two American cartoon icons, debuted internationally first. And us yanks didn't get it for a while.
I know that all of those movies aren't very well-regarded, and some would argue that their perceived quality factored into their staggered international rollouts. If you weren't Disney back then, you weren't necessarily guaranteed to get out there upon completion. Even Don Bluth didn't get to enjoy that kind of thing, post-Spielberg. But this was a strangely common occurrence during American animation's 2nd Golden Age, more so than the previous decade.
Whereas THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP? Everyone who has seen it, that I know of, have praised it out the wazoo. Its U.S. release is only taking so long because the guy running Warner Bros. doesn't seem to like movies very much, and no one else seemed to want to jump at a Looney Tunes feature film of this caliber and quality. I'm guessing this is largely because of GFM Animation, who picked up the film shortly after Zaslav offloaded it. I'm guessing that GFM was determined to get this movie a worldwide theatrical release. Including the U.S., and that it wouldn't just show up on Netflix or whatever here. Maybe they understood that the Looney Tunes are American icons, and goddamnit their first TRUE animated feature film that *isn't* a clipshow movie (like, say, THE BUGS BUNNY/ROAD RUNNER MOVIE from 1979) nor a hybrid should get a theatrical release!
That's very nice of them, but jeez, is that how icky 2D animation is to Hollywood that it took this long? And that it landed with Ketchup, a company I hadn't even heard of 'til now? Showbiz is quite curious in America, innit?
Anyways, that's great news... I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for an eventual release date...

*crashes through wall* got any aran hcs?
This post smells like BO, I think...
Aran is a strange lad to be sure. Everyone thinks he's a chaotic mess and a general nuisance, but in reality he's actually very chill! If you catch him on his own he's way quieter, albeit still loud but at least a bearable amount. He'll also crack jokes, have a good laugh, and if you're lucky he won't even say anything violent.
His top 'enemies' are Don, Narcis and Macho. 'Enemies' as in his favourite victims for pranks and other assorted Aran activities.. such as stealing Don's toupee and sticking it on a dog, replacing Narcis' shampoo with blended bananas or doing whatever the hell he feels like to Macho because Macho's too dull to predict anything. Not to mention all three of them have the best reactions, Don cusses him out in Spanish, Narcis cusses him out with some very creative nonsensical insults and Macho either gets confused or runs off screaming to Sandman.
Aran has a surprising amount of pets. Two weasels called Tom and Jerry (reference intended), a cat called Lucky, and a few lizards named Burren, Porter, Druid and Mulligan (all names of Irish pubs that Aran has definitely been to).
Aran is the biggest pansexual you'll ever see. He'll take anybody who comes his way, and then move on right after. The longest relationship he ever had lasted a week, and that was because he was in a coma for half of that week and couldn't tell her that he wanted to break up. The moment he woke up he asked her for a fiver and then went home and never spoke to her again. He continues to just take whatever comes along, but maybe beneath all of it he wants to find someone who can stay.
Aran got arrested for trying to fight a giant inflatable Santa when he got drunk, he spent a week in jail because he let all the animals out of a petting zoo, and another time he was arrested for illegally owning a pigeon (he called it Sky-Rat, when it was taken away he almost cried).
On a more serious note, he's been charged with assault 2 times because of some tedious fights.
Aran has some peculiar scars. He has a scar resembling a '7' on his chest because a fishing hook got caught on him whilst he was out with his Dad, but he also has one on his thigh because he tried to dive off a cliff and knocked himself on a rock.
He has one sibling, a younger sister named Erin. Their Mum, Fiona, thought it would be cute to give them similar names but they both hate it.
His Mum is in prison and his Dad is long gone, so he looks after Erin on his own.
His birthday is January 8th, the release date of the first Leprechaun movie.
Of course Aran can't drive. He's had his licence confiscated on five seperate occassions, but that doesn't stop him from finding a way to hop behind the wheel anyway.. just don't hop behind the wheel with him because you will either break something or die.
He is an absolute master at hiding pain. Usually he doesn't mind a bit of a sting but when things get bad (which they do), he hates to show it. There's a reason for it, that being..
He's deathly afraid of doctors.
Aran sneaks rides to Hondo's house so they can hang out together, plus he gets along well with Hondo's cat because they're both little bastards.
Huge anime fan. Similar to pain, he's a master at hiding it.
A very skilled artist! Not that he'd let anybody see his work..
He's a massive fan of fluffy pillows. There's nothing better than going home after a long day of making everybody elses day worse and snuggling into a poofy mass.
When his hair isn't in a ponytail he pretty much has a mullet.
Most of the time he has a four-leaf clover earing on his right ear, it's part of his brand.
He has a nickname for every boxer, albeit very uncreative ones. Examples include 'Cats' for Tiger and 'Bubbles' for Soda.
In the A-Bracket, Aran gets along best with Tiger and Hondo. His rival is Don.
In the B-Bracket, Aran gets along best with.. none of them, he doesn't go near them much because they smell like Narcis, who is of course his rival.

I can tell you right now, if this actually happened it’d be suicide. This Chinese spin off couldn’t even get off the ground when Cyberverse was on, coupled with political tensions at the time, what makes you think this is gonna work now?
The Cyberverse toys barely sold as it was. They went to clearance immediately when it came out during Christmas, and Japan cancelled the line outright it did so poorly. Japanese stores were STILL clogged with unsold merchandise after the show ended in America!
So no, until Hasbro actually says so, I don’t believe for an instant they’d be THAT stupid to pseudo revive one of their worst selling toy lines to buy time for a post EarthSpark kids cartoon. They’d have better luck dubbing and repackaging Transformers Go!, the Braves meets Beast Hunters Prime continuation Japan got when Prime was cancelled down there.
I don’t think partnering with Nick or Cartoon Network matters anymore anyway. Nick is so neck deep in controversy it has fully become The Sponge Network: All SpongeBob, All The Time. Cartoon Network has nothing new except Ivandoe, which is just Gumball again like the incredibly short lived Elliot From Earth was, so that’s not helping. Tiny Toons Looniversity sure, but that’s on borrowed time, as that only appeals to Animation Twitter Stans and curious Millenials who grew up with Adventures, and the later has mostly abandoned it.
In my experience, modern kids hate most modern cartoons anyway and are either watching web shows, trendy anime or older cartoons like Tom & Jerry.
Transformers’ best bet now is becoming a Netflix series like Pokémon has become in the west. Paramount+ is a glass house waiting to crumble, that so far most rocks thrown at it have been terrible aims.
And as much as some don’t want to hear it, the best type of show Transformers can be now is pure anime like RiD01 & the Unicron Trilogy. Anime is bigger now than its original boom in the 90’s and 2000’s, and a new kid oriented toyetic Transformers anime is the best thing they can do now.
What that would be I don’t know beyond classic Autobots vs Decepticons with Optimus & Megatron as the hero & villain we know them to be, not shady moronic uncle and still somehow slightly racist but repentant great uncle they are in EarthSpark. (I’ve said once I’ll say it again, MEGATRON palling around with the lead black-Asian family is not the flex people think it is.)
I would also accept Autobots vs Terrorcons as the gimmick of a kids anime, but we need proper hero and villain characters again. Skybound is proving head over heels this is what people want.
If Hasbro has the audacity to revive Cyberverse and force what many outside China will probably think is Astro Boy in heelies, the series outside of Skybound will be even more worse off.
The only thing they can reasonably be tinkering with is a kids cartoon based on ONE, and that can either be telling the story of what happened after the Quintessons on Cybertron, or more likely, they’re on Earth with an original story about the Decepticons & Quintessons doing something, while Optimus and Elita tell vague stories to Spike (white), Carly (Asian), and Chip (black) about what happened on Cybertron relating to the problem of the day so as not to overshadow an eventual TFTWO. And best case scenario that won’t be ready until summer of next year at the earliest.
Bottom line: Cyberverse no, TFONE the Animated Series on Earth yes. Energon Universe anime is preferable but we’re not there yet.

Alex Rider S03E02 Reaction
These were my first reactions to season three, completely unspoiled for the rest of the series, but of course, with significant knowledge from the books. With some thoughts and predictions thrown in too.
Anyway time to infiltrate some labs!
Liveblog
So many Yassen flashbacks bless
The letter to the prime minister! Love how it’s updated to be a USB stick or something. And a cool new Scorpia logo 👀
Are you… really going to just plug it into your laptop? Okay then lmao
‘We will deal only with the Department’ ahsdlfhs that is literally the vaguest name ever for a government department lmao at least add ‘MI6’ or something
17 years ago?? How old is Alex by now??
Some fascinating choices in how they changed the demands compared to the books 👀
‘Post it on tiktok’ ahsdlhs my brain can’t handle the idea that tiktok exists in the same world as Alex Rider
‘Maybe when she’s finished with Consanto’ lmao why is she telling him the name. Oh okay that’s why haha
Very suspicious of the new MI6 person lol. Like either it’s someone who is new enough to challenge the home secretary in a meeting or maybe they’re working for Scorpia. The timing is very convenient 👀
Lmao Mrs Jones is one day from retirement. RIP Mrs Jones
Tom just take the camera job 😭
“But we get to spend quality time together!” lmao Kyra
Why did Scorpia not do more to hide the background of the video ahsdlfhs
I guess the data scientist is probably not Scorpia but why is she not wearing the full protective gear lol. Why are she and Crawley in the field??
RIP new data scientist and RIP Mrs Jones’s retirement plans 😔
It is kind of interesting to me how Blunt is getting portrayed as super heartless for not reacting more to the death and coming off looking much worse than the rest in MI6/the Department while Scorpia is arguably the book where Blunt comes out looking best. But the show is quite focused on Blunt as the bad guy while everyone else gets humanised more
The way we keep getting these scenes of Kyra and Tom just watching Alex go off and do stuff lol
He’s not using the gloves!!!
Nile 👀 What a brutal throat blow gosh
Alex did you not hear about the detonation or….
Alex held his breath this time!!! He’s learning!!!
“An answer in the next sixty seconds is optimal” I love Nile so much gosh
Ohhh nice cliffhanger, I love Kyra and Tom not knowing if he’s alive or dead!
Overall
Very excited by that last scene! I love Nile so much already, he’s very cool and I love him offering Alex a one-time chance to get info, and how it ends with Tom and Kyra having no idea what happened with Alex. Nice to see some stuff with the Department too and the letter to the prime minister (that apparently didn’t reach the prime minister’s office lmao)
Thoughts/predictions
Not entirely sure what the point was with the new data scientist story except to make Smithers and Mrs Jones upset and look more emotional than Blunt. Like yes, it’s very sad but also I do question how good they are at their jobs if they react to every death like this. In general the show seems to be isolating Blunt from the rest of the department people a lot more than the books, but I like how he still comes across as better than the Home Secretary (who should be fired just for plugging in that USB stick into her laptop, frankly).
Nile is very cool and I love him. Do miss his more casual and cheerful attitude from the book though, but I’m super excited to see where this goes and where he takes Alex. He’s getting answers!! Love Nile casually playing the bomb and setting the timer and just asking the scientist guy questions about the cardboard cover.
It’s kind of ironic how they are not telling Tom’s brother about what is going on when in the books Tom immediately tells Jerry that Alex is MI6 despite Alex talking to him about the importance of not telling anyone haha. But I like how he did catch on. I assume maybe Tom will end up being his photographer, but Alex being assumed dead or missing is probably not helping.
It’s really interesting how the demands have changed and how it’s more UK focused, which makes sense since in the books the context was very much the Iraq war and Tony Blair/Alistair Campbell and the special relationship between the USA and the UK. But here I assume the reason Scorpia picked the UK is personal, because the Department dealt the blow that nearly finished them off 17 years ago.
Questions
What’s up with the stuff in the box?? Were those toys? Children’s clothes? What is the Clean Room? What is Invisible Sword in this universe??
Is our dear friend Max still alive? I assume he may come back to meet Alex later given his comment about them meeting again in ep 1
Where is Yassen? 😢 I crave more than just flashbacks!
#alex rider tv#alex rider s3#alex rider spoilers#alex rider tv spoilers#cyan watches alex rider s3#need more yassen gimme yassen pls

Chapter 31 - If you playing me that mean my home aint home
He stopped dead in the hallway. It felt like he was intruding on a private moment. Spider was wrapped in a blanket, his head half leaning against Wainfleet, eyes starting to close. The noises from the cartoon were the only sounds filling the space, until Lyle lifted his mask to take a breath. Quaritch did the same. He didn’t realise he’d been staring. He approached slowly so as not to startle Spider.
“Kid said anything yet?” he asked Wainfleet.
Lyle shook his head. “Seems happier now though.”
“Hmph.”
“I’m good here, boss. If you wanna debrief the squad.”
Quaritch looked at the unlikely pairing in front of him. Something lurched in his stomach, just like the first time he’d seen them, only stronger. He couldn’t tell what it was. He didn’t like it.
He appreciated Wainfleet’s offer, but he didn’t want to leave. At the same time however, it seemed his presence would probably just make things worse. Spider obviously felt more comfortable when he wasn’t around. He should just go and make a start on that report for Ardmore.
He nodded gruffly at Wainfleet and made his way back out to the deck of the SeaDragon. Savine leapt over to boycott him.
“What’s the plan boss?”
“Stand down. Off duty until tomorrow.”
Savine didn’t do as good of a job at hiding her disappointment as Wainfleet had. She exchanged a moody look with Mansk, who didn’t say anything.
“Mansk, write that report up for the last raid, and Savine… do something useful,” he finished off, irritated.
*******
Spider could tell he was moments away from sleep, but he didn’t fight his stubborn eyelids as they closed, nor his breathing as it deepened.
When he woke, he was still in the same place, but laying down horizontally on the padded bench. His head pounded, his stomach cramped painfully, and he wished he had stayed asleep.
Wainfleet was now on the floor, his back leaning against the bench. Spider’s head was behind the guy’s massive shoulder, and he could sense from the jerky movements that Wainfleet was probably typing on his tablet. Just then, his stomach growled loudly. Damn , he had to stop letting that happen. The recom turned around to see him awake, and shot him a small smirk.
“Hungry kid?”
Spider nodded slowly, not making eye contact.
“You wanna go to the canteen?”
He shook his head no.
Wainfleet seemed to consider this for a moment. “Okay, I can go and get you some grub, but are you gonna be okay here?”
Spider nodded again, having made no attempt to get up.
“Okay, don’t move… alright?”
Spider had no intention of moving. Where was he gonna go? Fling himself off the ship? He didn’t really fancy drowning. Perhaps he’d be eaten by an animal instead.
He pulled the blanket tighter and waited out the few minutes until Wainfleet’s return. He didn’t like being alone. It reminded him of being back in the cell. Those long days of solitary confinement… Spider was quite shocked he had survived that now.
Shaking away the unpleasant memories, he tried to focus on something more optimistic. It felt like there was nothing. Instead, he replayed the last episode of Tom and Jerry in his mind. Before he’d fallen asleep, the end of the episode had come on and the logo reminded him of the mouse’s name. He focused very mindfully on making a prediction for the next episode. Dumb, trivial things. That’s what he had to hold on to now. The only thing tethering him from slipping into complete insanity.
Way too much longer than Spider’s liking, Wainfleet returned, with an array of options from the canteen. He held them up in turn. “Sandwich, noodles, cookie, pasta bake… Don’t scoff the lot now,” Wainfleet’s attempt at humour pulled a small smile from Spider’s lips.
Spider slowly sat up and reached out for the pot noodles, wanting something warm, while Wainfleet shoved the cookie down.
Spider watched in surprise. He wasn’t sure that was an entirely wise move from the recom. He’d seen Lo’ak try human food before, and it didn’t end good. In fact, Spider vividly remembered Lo’ak vowing to never touch milk again.
The pot noodles were warm and slippery; easy to manage. They tasted surprisingly nice, and Spider was grateful for the unexpected absence of the usual nausea.
Wainfleet must have saved the progress he’d made on whatever he was typing up, because he switched the screen of his tablet back to Tom and Jerry. “You like this one, I know you do.”
Spider let a rueful smile slide over his face. His attempt to hide it obviously fell short, because Wainfleet grinned amusedly.
“You wanna try any others? Let me show you Looney Tunes…” Wainfleet flicked over to a different, more brightly coloured show, describing in simple terms the premise and plot. Spider liked the voices of this one. By the time the episode had finished, he’d decided his favourite character was Daffy Duck, even though he was hard to understand sometimes.
He wasn’t sure how long they sat there, watching the silly animations together, but he thought it must be late evening by the time Quaritch returned, posing the question of where Spider would sleep that night.
Despite having napped already this afternoon, he was still so tired. It had been a weird day.
“Do you wanna sleep inside tonight kid?” Quaritch asked softly.
If only Spider could see the visions Quaritch was having of keeping guard in the corridor outside his room all night, protecting the boy from himself, even if it meant a sleepless night for the recom.
Spider shook his head. For some reason, the thought of sleeping alone still terrified him. He would gladly sacrifice the comfort of a soft mattress for the company and feeling of safety that being around others brought him. He couldn’t have another night terror.
“You sure?” the man repeated the question.
Spider nodded his head, raising his eyes to the ceiling.
“I don’t believe it, was that a signature Spider eye roll I just witnessed?”
Spider had to fight extremely hard to prevent himself from reacting.
“Jesus Lyle, what have you been doing to him?” Quaritch remarked, raising his eyes at his right hand man.
The moment had been light-hearted, but just as the humour had bubbled inside Spider, it quickly faded. He was left resenting Quaritch once more; all happiness vanishing so he could barely remember its warmth.
“Right, come up on deck when you finish your pyjama party.” The man turned and left again, leaving them to it.
Something seemed off about Quaritch, but Spider didn’t have the energy nor the inclination to give it any further thought. His eyelids were already drooping again.
****
The next thing he knew, he was opening his eyes to find he was outside, it was night, and he was being carried along the deck of the ship, the wind a cooling contrast to the warmth of the blanket he was wrapped up in.
In Quaritch’s arms.
In Quaritch’s arms .
He panicked for just a moment, before playing it cool; the man’s grip was firm yet gentle as Spider lifted his head from Quaritch’s huge shoulder. Shit , he’d never, ever been held this intimately. He couldn’t untangle the swirl of emotions pooling in his stomach - he liked it, he hated it. It was wrong.
So why did he want to give himself over completely, surrender to the feeling?
“Let me go…” he mumbled half heartedly as the fuzz cleared from his mind.
“Jesus kid, relax,” came the response. Quaritch brought his hand up to cup Spider’s back closer to his chest.
Well . He couldn’t fight his way out of this one. So… why not allow it?
He rested his heavy head back on the man’s shoulder, closing his eyes against the total darkness of the oceanic night. The sounds of the recom’s voices floated over to them as they approached the fire, and Quaritch carefully deposited Spider on a duvet and pillow that he’d obviously brought out for him earlier.
Spider wasn’t sure why, but he wanted to cry.
He stared at Quaritch as the man backed away, realising that at some point the man had even fitted Spider’s mask over his unconscious face. The thought made him flush.
“You said you didn’t want to sleep inside…” Quaritch began.
“I don’t,” Spider replied quickly, surprising himself at the return of his voice.
His reply seemed to please Quaritch, for a small smile played over the recom’s mouth.
What had they got themselves into? That neither wanted to spend the night apart? Just as Spider was beginning to think he had finished with Quaritch completely, a stupid moment of vulnerability had caused all that to be questioned. He had been so resolute, so set on his decision to cut all emotional ties to his would-be-father. Damnit . This was not good.
As Quaritch continued to cast anxious glances at Spider from across the fire, Spider found that strangely, he didn’t mind it.

HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY ALADDIN
youtube
Disney’s 31st animated film was released on this day in 1992 and has since become one of the studio’s classics and my personal favorite. Directed by John Musker and Ron Clements (fresh off the success of their previous hit The Little Mermaid) and a phenomenal soundtrack by composer Alan Menken and song lyrics Howard Ashman (his final film) and Tim Rice. Just like with their previous musical films The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin was was a box office hit, surpassing both previous films by grossing over $200 million domestically which was a record for animated films at the time and wouldn’t be surpassed until 2 years when their next film The Lion King grossed over $300 million domestically.
I love this movie. As stated above, not only is it my favorite Disney movie, but it’s my favorite movie period. Running at 90 minutes, Aladdin has the perfect length for a movie (personal preference I know, but something about it being approximately an hour and half just has that right balance of not feeling too long or short). The story is simple but REALLY fun and just flows at a natural pace, again thanks to the movie’s length. This movie more than any other Disney animated feature really takes advantage of its medium and pushes it to the limit. I’ve always been a fan of slapstick cartoons like classic Looney Tunes/Tom and Jerry, Animaniacs, etc so Aladdin fits into that mold perfectly for me. This is also Disney’s best comedy and there’s only two other Disney films I can think of that match this film’s comedic energy (one of them also being directed by Musker and Clements).
I honestly don’t know what else I can say about Genie that hasn’t been said already. He’s the best comic relief/sidekick character, the late great Robin Williams set the bar really high with his iconic performance and paved the way for more pop culture based humor in animated films later down the line (for better and for worse). Even without the Genie, there’s still plenty of funny moments throughout the movie like this moment:
On that note, Jafar is also a great Disney villain. He has that perfect balance of stoic and campiness along with a great character design that contrasts from the other characters but still fits in the world.
Lastly, the songs are great. Aladdin was the last of the Menken/Ashman trilogy before the latter’s death during production of this and their previous film Beauty and the Beast. 3 of Ashman’s songs appear in the final film (Arabian Nights, Friend Like Me, and Prince Ali) and they’re all catchy as hell. Tim Rice took over where Ashman left off and wrote 2 new songs and 2 reprises (One Jump Ahead and it’s reprise, A Whole New World, and Prince Ali reprise) which are also great, especially A Whole New World which won an Oscar for Best Song and was the only Disney song to reach #1 on the Billboard Top 100 for nearly 30 years until We Don’t Talk About Bruno from Encanto accomplished that earlier this year.
There’s so much more I want to say about this movie, but this post is getting too long. Aladdin was a childhood favorite of mine that I watched several times on VHS and later on DVD for the behind-the-scenes bonus features (this is why physical media should never be taken for granted). It’s a part of that era in the 90s when Disney dominated with great animated musicals that also included The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King, and continue to be beloved classics to this day 30 years later.
What are some of your favorite moments, characters, and songs from Aladdin?

Tom and Jerry & the Wizard of Oz (2011)
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
I don't often give movies "So Bad It's Good" ratings. Even rarer are low “So Bad It’s Good” ratings. If a movie isn't good and isn't enjoyably awful, it probably isn't pleasant under any definition. I'm making an exception for Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz. Why? Well, it all began with Tom and Jerry and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; a film so bad you had to see it to believe it. No one in their right mind would rent or buy that cinematic mistake. All of its profits must have come from grandparents with poor eyesight desperate to find their grandkids a last-minute Christmas gift. After seeing it, no one would give any Tom and Jerry films - past or future - a chance but it's still available for purchase today. As long as Tom and Jerry and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is out there, the only audience for this… adaptation? Spoof? Follow-up? to the 1939 Judy Garland classic are demented cinephiles who purposely seek bad movies. Why aren’t they going to be pleased? Read on.
While reuniting Dorothy Gale (voiced by Grey Griffin) with her dog Toto, Tom and Jerry get sucked into a twister and transported to the magical land of Oz. Following Dorothy’s tracks on the yellow brick road, they meet munchkin Tuffy (voiced by Kath Soucie) who tells them of the great and powerful Oz (Joe Alaskey) - the only being who can help them return home.
Unlike Tom and Jerry and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this isn’t a straight retelling of the original film with the two violence-prone cat and mouse clumsily jammed in. This is an “original movie” with an original plot. It's sort of a Lion King 1 ½ type of story. We see familiar events from a new angle. For instance, did you ever wonder how that bucket of water ended up in the Wicked Witch of the West’s castle? You'll know its back story after this film. What’s that? You never cared? You shouldn't, and that's why this movie fails. This side story is razor thin. In fact, the whole thing clocks in at a slim 56 minutes - far less than the film it’s spinning off of. Unfortunately, since you don’t care about anything, it feels much longer.
This is a perfect example of a film that would be better if it were worse. The new songs are bad, but they’re lame, not cringe-inducing and not memorable. The animation is cheap. I only counted one scene in which a character had a shadow. However, the budget isn’t so low that characters are constantly off-model or animated in a way that makes for great stills. Similarly, since the plot is new, there are no plot holes or nonsensical developments like we had in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ripoff. This means there is less to make fun of and many more reasons to become bored.
This is a picture for a non-existent audience. No adult watching will go “I’d much rather watch this than the classic!” If you haven’t seen Dorothy Gale’s original adventure, you won’t understand this plot because it assumes you already know the story and blazes through important information. It isn’t good, and isn’t bad enough to be fun. There’s no reason to see this film and everyone who made it knew this perfectly well. I can’t think of any reason why anyone should ever see it but I also don’t hate it enough to care if you disagree. (On DVD, November 23, 2018)

Addison was staring through the window. Inside the hotel she could see people milling around and she was acutely aware that if she stood inside the doorway any longer she’d become an imposition but she couldn’t get her feet to move, which was ironic given that all she’d wanted to do since this whole mess began was run. After taking a deep breath she decided there wasn’t much point in lingering. She could either flee home or be brave and head inside, not that it mattered much either way. After all, she'd either have to find the courage to see him or find the courage to tell her daughter that she couldn't bring herself to. Neither of them were a great option. She glanced around as she walked into the lobby, suddenly realising that she wasn’t quite sure where she should go. Fortunately, Jerry had been tucked away, watching the door like a hawk and he appeared out of nowhere, coming towards her with a smile on his face. ‘You came,’ he said feeling relief flood through him. They stood awkwardly in front of one another, both unsure of the appropriate greeting for a situation like this. ‘Yeah,’ Addison said, ‘I’m a little early.’ ‘That’s fine,’ Jerry said gesturing for her to follow him which she did, ‘I’ll take you up to the suite and then I’ll go and get him, okay?’ ‘You didn’t tell him?’ she asked though it wasn’t accusatory. ‘No,’ Jerry said glancing at her as he led her to the elevator, ‘I figured playing it your way was the best way to go.’ ‘Right,’ Addison said with a nod as they stepped onto the elevator, which made her palms start to sweat almost immediately something that was made worse as the ride up to the top became awkward, neither of them knowing what to say. Eventually, the doors pinged open and they stepped out onto the top floor. They were in a long corridor with various doors all painted the same shade of off-white, with gold and marble accents throughout. It wasn’t like any hotel Addison had been in though she suspected this floor wasn’t like the many below it. Jerry led her down towards one end of the corridor until they were at a pair of large double doors which he opened tentatively poking his head inside before he pushed it open properly and gestured for her to follow. It was a vast room, mostly open space though it flowed into different areas. On one side there was a large living area which housed a few sofas and tables as well as a large piano and to her other side there was a dining area adjoining a small kitchen though it didn’t look very well used. Everything in here felt light and neutral. Bland colours accented with golds and marbles to remind whoever was looking they were in the midst of money. It felt unnatural, and to Addison, unlike the Elvis she knew. ‘You want anything to drink?’ Jerry asked after a moment. He had been watching her taking everything in but she looked at him once he spoke. ‘No, thanks,’ she said. ‘Okay,’ Jerry said, ‘well make yourself comfortable…I’ll just go get him, okay?’ Addison nodded and watched as Jerry headed back out the way they came. Her palms were still sweating but now that Jerry was out of the room she could wipe them on her jeans though it didn’t do anything to calm her nerves. She moved towards the large window opposite her. It was vast and as she moved towards it she could see the entirety of the city below her. It was a city she had lived in for over a decade but from up here, it felt entirely different. She was pulled from her thoughts as she heard the door open again, voices drifting down from the small hallway towards her. ‘-I told you I don’t want to see anybody today,’ she heard Elvis grumble. There was an attempt to lower his voice as he moved into the room but it wasn’t enough so Addison suspected he intended for whoever he thought was waiting to hear it. ‘Humour me,’ Jerry said. He was blocking Elvis’ view as they made their way into the reception hall but as he moved out of the way he spotted her and the annoyance on his face melted away. ‘Addison,’ he said, sounding as though he wasn’t entirely sure she was there, ‘how did you-’ ‘I asked Jer,’ Addison said. ‘You did huh?’ he said eyeing Jerry with annoyance. ‘I asked him not to say anything,’ Addison added quickly. ‘Right,’ Elvis said though his annoyance didn’t seem to disappear. Jerry shifted uncomfortably. ‘I’ll, er, I’ll leave you two to it,’ he said hesitantly, ‘holler if you need anything.’ He nodded towards Addison who offered him a small apologetic smile and then he headed out the door with the pair of them watching him. Elvis only looked at her once he heard the door click closed. She wasn’t in her uniform today, she was sporting a simple look of jeans and a sweater and her hair was down framing her face. Though her casual attire didn’t make her look any more at ease though, in fact, she looked more nervous than she had yesterday. Without thinking Elvis moved towards the living area, hoping that movement would take her off guard long enough she wouldn’t be able to second guess being here. ‘You want anything? I got sodas, water, anything really,’ he said taking a seat on the couch. She lingered in the hallway, clutching her bag in her hand tightly before she shook her head and came to sit on the couch adjacent to him. They looked at each other for a moment, neither of them sure how to start or even where to start. It was silent. Painfully so, after a while Elvis could take it no longer so he shuffled to the edge of his seat, taking the sunglasses he was wearing off and placing them on the coffee table in front of them as he looked at her. ‘So, are you going to tell me why you’re here or do I have to guess?’ he said trying to inject some lightness into the atmosphere though Addison’s face tightened at his attempt at humour. ‘I don’t know,’ she said, ‘I mean I know why I’m here I just don’t know how to start. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to say.’ ‘You could start at the beginning,’ Elvis said. ‘The real beginning or Sunday night?’ she asked with a heavy exhale. ‘How about whatever got you to come here today? I mean last night you didn’t exactly seem like you wanted anything to do with me and now you’re here-’ ‘Jess knows. About you,’ Addison said dropping her gaze to her lap, ‘apparently she has done for a few weeks. That’s why she came to see your show.’ ‘What does she know Addie?’ Elvis asked, making her look up at him. ‘Are you really going to make me say it?’ she asked in a whisper. ‘I need you to Addie,’ he said. ‘She’s your daughter,’ Addison said quietly. Elvis looked at her, watching the guilt on her face as the words made their way into existence. He already knew but he needed her to say it, to make it real. ‘You’re sure?’ he asked though regret hit him immediately as he watched guilt turn to anger. ‘Of course I’m sure,’ she said incredulously, ‘what, you think this is some elaborate scheme to get your cash or something?’ ‘That’s not what I meant,’ Elvis said, ‘besides you have to understand where I’m coming from, I mean people have done this before-’ ‘You think I’d do that? Elvis it’s me you’re talking to,’ she said shaking her head in disbelief. She had known this was going to hurt. That admitting to everything after years of pushing it away would be tough but not for a second did she think he wouldn’t believe her. Her words however caught his attention. It was true. It was Addison he was talking to but was she his Addison? He wasn’t sure yet. ‘I didn’t think you’d take off but you did,’ he countered making her jaw set even tighter. ‘It wasn’t like that,’ she protested. ‘Wasn’t it? I mean I thought so too then my Mama died and you were nowhere to be found. And the Addison I knew wouldn’t have stayed away, not then,’ he said. The conversation was spiralling out of control and he knew if he pushed too hard he ran the risk of pushing her away but he couldn’t stop himself. Every drop of anger, betrayal and frustration he had felt for the past decade and a half was rushing to the surface hoping to get a chance to confront the woman that had put them there. ‘I didn’t want to,’ she said angrily, ‘I had no choice.’ ‘We all have choice Addie,’ he said, ‘you could’ve come back if you wanted to.’ They fell quiet for a moment the pair of them watching each other as they tried to regulate their emotions neither seeming to want to descend into a screaming match. After a beat Addison spoke. ‘You have no idea, do you?’ she asked quietly, her eyes no longer angry but awash with sadness, ‘I didn’t ask for any of this. I didn’t want it to be this way. When you left I was going to stay, to wait for you like we planned but that wasn’t an option. They didn’t let it be an option.’ ‘Who didn’t?’ Elvis asked. ‘Who do you think?’ she sighed with exasperation. ‘The Colonel?’ he asked. ‘He had me out the door the moment you were gone,’ she said sadly, ‘if you think I chose to go you’re wrong. I was shipped off, told not to bother coming back no matter what-’ ‘They wouldn’t have let that happen,’ Elvis said shaking his head in disbelief, ‘Mama and Daddy-’ ‘Who do you think signed off on it?’ she asked with a mirthless laugh, ‘I don’t blame them, not really. I mean he’d thought of it all so I’m sure whatever story he spun for them must’ve been a good one. Hell if it hadn't been for them he probably would’ve just kicked me out onto the street instead of finding some boarding school somewhere-’ ‘That was true?’ Elvis said as the memory of what the Colonel had told him flashed in his mind. ‘Yeah,’ she said quietly, ‘looks like he can tell the truth sometimes huh?’ ‘Why didn’t you just come back?’ Elvis asked, ‘I mean told them what he’d done?’ ‘I was a kid. Seventeen and alone. You were gone and I had no way of contacting you. I thought your parents hated me because it was my fault you had to go to the stupid army. Your friends too. And then I found out I was pregnant. What was I supposed to do?’ Addison said feeling relief pour out of her as she was finally able to get it all out. ‘You could’ve come back,’ he said looking at her with hurt in his eyes. Addison sighed. ‘And what would that have done?’ she said, ‘my life had been turned upside down and the people who did were still by your side. I was a kid Elvis. A broken-hearted kid all on her own, except now it wasn’t just me I had to think about. I had Jess. So I did what I had to do to protect her, to protect you. You went half the way across the world to save your image-’ ‘Yeah and look what good it did,’ Elvis said with a sniff as he tried to force the lump in his throat down. ‘It worked though,’ she reasoned, ‘and even if I could’ve come back it’s not as though a baby out of wedlock was going to help was it? Not for you. Certainly not for Jess, I mean can you honestly say you like having Lisa talked about in the tabloids.’ ‘I still should’ve known though. No matter what had happened,’ Elvis pushed before adding quietly, ‘you owed me that much.’ Addison sighed as she rose from her chair and began to pace her thoughts spinning around her head. He didn’t get it. After everything she’d said he still see what she had done had been what she thought was for the best. ‘You don’t get it, do you? This isn’t about you. I didn’t do this to hurt you or to punish you. I didn’t even do it for me. I did it for Jess,’ she said. ‘And was having no dad in her life for Jess too? It could’ve been fixed Addie! That’s what we promised. No matter what, we were supposed to get through it together,’ he said almost pleading with her to see his side of the story. Sure it wouldn’t have been easy but surely she would’ve known he wouldn’t care. No over something as big as this. Addison looked at him, her heart squeezing in her chest so tight she couldn’t breathe, her feet itching to run again. ‘This was a mistake,’ she said, ‘I shouldn’t have come.’ ‘Don’t, don’t go, look I’m sorry,’ Elvis said jumping up to put his hands on hers to stop her from grabbing her bag off the couch. She pulled away at his touch but her movements slowed as he looked down on her, ‘just please don’t go.’ ‘I know you don’t agree and I know what I did seems wrong but you have to believe me if I’d have thought there was any other way out I would’ve done it. I just wanted to protect her. That’s all I wanted to do. I never meant to hurt you,’ she said sadly. ‘I know,’ Elvis said firmly. He didn’t believe that there hadn’t been other options but he could understand how she had seen it that way. How after everything she had been through it would’ve been easier to see going through it alone as the best option. Maybe it wasn’t about protecting Jess though. Maybe she had been trying to protect herself. They were still standing close to one another a fact they both seemed to realise at the same time as they pulled away quickly, Elvis sinking back into his seat as he tried to ignore the scent of her perfume in his nostrils. ‘I just,’ he started though he wasn’t sure where his words were going, ‘my whole life seems all up in the air and I don’t know what to do.’ ‘I know the feeling,’ Addison said with a smile so small if he had blinked he would’ve missed it, ‘maybe you should take some time, to get your head around it.’ ‘No, no, I’ve missed too much already. I don’t want to waste any more time,’ he said firmly. His head was a mess but he’d missed fifteen years, he didn’t want to waste another minute. Addison nodded but then her face became tentative which made him nervous. ‘Okay,’ she swallowed, ‘but if we’re going to do this I need us to be on the same page.’ ‘Okay,’ Elvis said trying not to let hope build in him too quickly. ‘This isn’t about us. This is for Jess, whatever she wants, okay?’ she asked. ‘Got it,’ Elvis nodded. ‘And I’m not going to push her to see you if she doesn’t want to and you can’t either,’ she said. ‘Addie,’ Elvis sighed but Addison didn’t falter. ‘I’m not finished,’ she said feeling more confident now she was talking about her daughter. She could take the hits when it came to looking out for Jess. After all, she had been doing it since the day she was born, ‘she chose this and I get that but she’s still a kid and if she needs someone to protect her I will. I don’t care if you hate me for it.’ ‘I don’t hate you,’ Elvis said. He got where she was coming from, he’d do the same for Lisa. ‘Well anyway. She can see you but I’m going to be around. For the first few meetings at least,’ she said carrying on with her rules though she did nod in recognition at his words. ‘Right,’ Elvis nodded. ‘And it’s not all parties and fun okay?’ she said making Elvis raise an eyebrow, ‘you know what I mean. She’s a kid, she’s got school and her own priorities. We work you in around that, okay?’ ‘Yeah,’ he said. ‘And no one can know. Not yet. She doesn’t need every reporter or tabloid poking into her life just because she’s your daughter,’ Addison said. ‘Of course, whatever you want,’ Elvis said, ‘I mean I’ll have to tell some people but they won't say a word I promise. Believe me I don’t want press sniffing around her either.’ ‘That’s the other thing,’ Addison said. ‘What?’ Elvis said wondering what else could be left. Her demands weren’t unreasonable but he didn’t know how much more she could’ve thought of. ‘I need you to promise me,’ she said firmly. ‘Addie-‘ ‘Promise or this is off the table,’ she said. Elvis looked at her for a moment wondering whether or not to agree. He wanted her to trust him but he wasn’t stupid enough to agree to a deal without knowing what he was in for. ‘What?’ he asked hoping she wouldn’t press for his promise. ‘The Colonel has nothing to do with any of this,’ she said simply, ‘I know he’s your manager and I know I can’t demand that you let him go or whatever but I don’t want him anywhere near my life or Jess’s. Not now, not ever. And if you can’t-‘ ‘I promise,’ Elvis said agreeing quicker than even he had anticipated. ‘Elvis I mean it,’ she said. ‘I know. And I promise,’ he reiterated. She seemed sceptical at first but then she nodded accepting his word. They spoke a little longer, mostly debating when and where the first meeting would be best to take place. He didn’t influence much of the decision making feeling it was probably better for her to take the lead with whatever she thought Jess would be comfortable with. Finally, they landed on dinner and a show the coming Saturday because it would mean less risk of drawing attention given Elvis always had invited guests at his shows. Eventually, she made an excuse to leave and Elvis walked her to the door. They didn’t hug but as she disappeared down the hall Elvis watched her go before he closed the door and rested against it with a sigh. A daughter. Elvis had a daughter, well, another one. He couldn’t believe it. In fact, he couldn’t get his head around most of the information that had been laid on him today. Had it really been that bad? Had the Colonel really made her leave? He didn’t want it to be true but from the look on her face, he knew that it was. How could he have been so blind to it all? How could he have allowed himself to be led so easily into believing she would leave him through her own choice? No, he reasoned with himself. He remembered the day he found out about it and he hadn't believed it then. Elvis was nervous as the car rumbled up in front of his home. It seemed odd to be here, foreign somehow, especially since he had geared himself up to not step foot in the place for at least another eighteen months more. The barracks had in no way become home but at this point he was acclimatised to them, especially since the prospect of going overseas was coming thick and fast. His nerves didn't disappear as he climbed out of the car but there was a flutter of excitement as he walked up to the front door. He was home and though the circumstances were not perfect it did mean that he would get to see Addison. Addison. He couldn't believe just how much he had missed her. By now the time that they had spent apart was longer than the time they had together but that didn't mean a thing. It was as if she'd been a constant in his life even when she wasn't there. He honestly couldn't say how he had gotten through months of cold and lonely nights in the barracks without hearing her voice or having her write to him. But there wouldn't be any need for that now, he was home. When he got in through the front door he noticed the house was busy, mostly congregated by family all of whom appeared somewhat solemn though they changed as they noticed who had come in the door. He didn't have time to speak to any of them though as his father appeared out of nowhere, wrapping his arms around his son as he clung to him as though Elvis was the parent in this scenario. He was clinging to him as if he needed his son to stay afloat. Elvis wrapped his arms around his father feeling the nerves he had been having in the car increase tenfold. 'It's good to see ya,' Vernon said as he pulled back, only then did Elvis notice the redness of his father's eyes. 'Daddy what's going on?' he said, 'where's Mama?' 'She's resting. The doctor has just been,' his father said, leading him down towards his parent's bedroom. 'What did they say?' Elvis said pausing as they reached the door so he could look at his father. His eyes were bloodshot, the only splash of colour on his person as the rest of him appeared pale, almost grey, as he looked at his son visibly trying to string the words together in his head before he answered. 'We can go through that later,' Vernon said patting him on the shoulder, 'she's been asking for you.' Elvis glanced at the door and then back at his daddy before he nodded and pushed it open. The air felt stale, as though people had been in there for far too long without leaving, but as he walked inside he noticed that no one else was in there apart from himself and his mother who was laying on the bed her eyes closed though she opened them when she heard noise. Her smile was present but weak and he rushed towards her, kneeling beside her bed as he reached for her hand. She looked frail. Her smooth satin skin now gaunt. Elvis' heart hammered against his ribcage. 'Elvie you came,' she said with a soft smile. It was a term he hadn't heard in years, in fact, it was something he had demanded she stopped calling him once he had gotten out of junior school and some older boys had taken to mocking him for it. But at that moment it didn't bother him, he'd let her call him whatever she wanted. 'Of course I came,' he said as if it were obvious, 'came as soon as I got the call.' 'I'm glad,' she said, 'I missed your face.' 'Missed yours too,' he said with a smile though the worry behind his eyes was evident, 'Satnin what's going on? Daddy didn't say but the doctors been and-' 'It's not important,' she said, squeezing his hand. 'Not important? Mama you-’ 'Ssh,' she said closing her eyes. 'Mama,' Elvis protested. 'I don't want to talk about it,' she said, finally looking at him, 'I just want to enjoy having you here. Can you do that?' Elvis looked as though he wanted to protest. He and his mother never kept secrets, not from each other, but as he looked in her eyes he couldn't bring himself to push it any further. After all, whatever it was wasn't exactly a secret. They both knew it was serious even if they were going to avoid the details. Reluctantly he nodded. She didn't say anything after that, instead, she closed her eyes though she kept hold of his hand. Elvis watched her with his heart aching in his chest. When they had talked on the phone before now she had seemed fine. He had noticed that she had mentioned that the doctor had visited more than once but when he had asked she had brushed him off. In fact most of the things he asked about when he phoned home or wrote got brushed off. He had figured it was to stop him from feeling homesick, that the more he was reminded of everything he was missing the more lonesome he would be and that they were just trying to make him feel better but as he watched his mother he couldn't help but feel it had been to protect him. He didn't know how long he sat by her bedside, curled up beside it watching her closely but eventually her breathing evened out and her grip on his hand became light enough that he figured she had dozed off. That was when he carefully picked himself up off the floor and slipped his hand out of hers heading towards the living room in the search of answers. He found his Daddy on the back porch, looking as weary as he had before though it seemed to worsen as he spotted Elvis entering the room. The Colonel was sitting in a chair beside him watching the boy closely. 'Daddy what's going on?' Elvis said, looking down on his father expectantly. 'It's not good,' his father said grimly taking a long drag of his cigarette before he sighed and continued, 'the doctor seems to think she's had a heart attack.' 'A heart attack?' Elvis paled. 'A small one,' Vernon said though his tone didn't shift from anything but grave, 'but her hearts weak...he says... he says it's failing.' 'Well then we'll find another doctor,' Elvis said immediately, 'one who knows what the hell they're talking about because he sure as hell don't.' 'Elvis,' Vernon sighed. 'Hell I'll get a million of 'em,' he said, 'I don't care whatever it costs.' 'It's not going to change anything son,' Vernon said grimly. 'How do you know?' Elvis scoffed. 'Because...because I just do,' Vernon said looking at his son with fatigue in his eyes. He had been through it a thousand times before. Every doctor, every expert, every person he could think of trying to fix the situation but it was too late. Gladys was dying. No amount of money was going to change that. 'We have to try,' Elvis said the desperation in his voice evident as he sank down into a chair beside his father. From the look on both the other men's faces he knew he was grasping at straws but he had to do something. Anything. His father said nothing but looked at him with pain in his eyes before eventually he nodded. He knew it was fruitless but he was unable to disagree with his son. Elvis heaved a sigh of relief as he heard his pleas be answered, flopping back into his chair as he thought about all that had happened since he walked through the door. He had thought that being in the army was an ordeal but being at home was on another level and he'd only been there less than an hour. As the weight of it all hung heavy on him his mind went to the only person who could possibly make him feel better at that moment. 'Where's Addison?' he asked looking back towards the house. He hadn't expected her to come and leap into his arms given the circumstances but he was surprised that he hadn't seen her yet. Vernon and the Colonel shared a look, one that he didn't miss, in fact, it caught his attention, forcing him to sit upright as he said again, 'where's Addison?' 'My boy,' the Colonel said quietly. 'Colonel,' Vernon snapped. 'He needs to know,' the Colonel said. 'Now's not the time,' Vernon said sternly. 'Will someone tell me what the hell is going on?!' Elvis said looking between the pair of them. They looked at each other uneasily until Vernon sighed looking his son in the eye. 'We were going to tell you,' he said. 'Tell me what?' Elvis snapped his irritation growing by the minute as his father failed to get to the point. 'After you left the Colonel and I decided it was probably better for the image if Addison didn’t live here anymore.' 'What?' Elvis snapped. 'So we found a boarding school,' Vernon said quickly, ' a real good one that would get her into some real good colleges. That way when you got back it would look as though she was just moving in instead of having lived here the whole time.' 'So, where is she? I mean it's summer she can't be at school any more,' Elvis said watching as his father and the Colonel shared another look. One that made a pit form in his stomach. 'I don't understand. Where is she?' Elvis asked watching them both but his father dropped his gaze once more. The Colonel however leaned forward in his chair. 'Addison's gone,' the Colonel said simply. 'Gone? What do you mean she's gone?' Elvis asked as if the mere suggestion was a ludicrous statement in itself. 'Took off,' Vernon said grimly finally looking at his son, 'we were going to tell you-' 'What when I came back in a couple of years?!' Elvis said standing up and pacing as he tried to make sense of it all. It didn't compute. How could she be gone? Just like that. It didn't make sense. She knew he was coming back for her, she had a home here even without him she wouldn't just up and leave. 'I don't believe you,' he said, shaking his head as he paced. 'Son,' Vernon sighed. 'No Daddy, she wouldn't do that, she just wouldn't. I mean we had a deal, she knew I was coming back. I was doing this all for us, she wouldn't just up and leave me,' he said his frustration turning to sadness, 'I know she wouldn't.' 'Believe me I don't get it either,' Vernon said, 'but when the Colonel checked up on her she was gone. No trace of her anywhere.' 'Well then we'll find one. She can't have just disappeared off the face of the earth. I mean what the hell kind of a school lets kids just up and leave,' Elvis said. 'She was eighteen,' the Colonel shrugged. 'I don't care how old she was. I wanna speak to them,' Elvis said looking at the Colonel. 'I don't think that's wise my boy,' the Colonel said. 'Why not? If she's gone it's for good reason. She wouldn't just leave,' Elvis said trying to hide the fact he could feel tears stinging in his eyes by turning away from the pair. He heard shuffling as the Colonel got out of his chair but he didn't turn around, not until he felt the man touch his shoulder with his cane. 'Maybe you're right,' the Colonel said watching the boy with pity. He looked like he was going to say something but then thought better of it which sparked Elvis' curiosity. 'Or?' he asked. He watched as the older man thought for a moment preparing whatever he was going to say in his head before he spoke. At that moment Elvis had wished he had never asked. Whatever the Colonel was going to say he didn't want to know. He didn't think he could take it. 'Or maybe she's more like her mother than you thought,' the Colonel said. Elvis' mouth fell open and he shook his head trying to shake the thought out. Addison was nothing like her mother. Mona was out for herself, that wasn't Addie. 'She's nothing like that,' Elvis said thickly. 'I don't mean she's as bad as her but taking off when the going gets tough? It's not exactly the right thing to do is it,' the Colonel said. 'I broke her heart,' Elvis said trying to defend her as the Colonel's words branded themselves on his brain. He had a point. She may have been scared and heartbroken but hadn't she believed he loved her? He was willing to put himself through two years of hell, why couldn't she just hang on like they planned? 'And in return she broke yours,' the Colonel sighed, 'look I know you love her. And I know right now you probably don't know what direction is up but I must implore you to think about this. If she wanted to be here she would be, and harassing a school that had no legal control over her isn't going to do anything but stir up trouble. Now is that what you want?' 'But-' 'Is that what your mama needs?' the Colonel added making Elvis fall silent. He couldn't wrap his head around it. It didn't make any sense but the ache in his chest about Addison only started to hurt worse as the Colonel mentioned his mother. He was right. As much as it hurt him his love life wasn't his priority right now. His mother was. 'I just don’t understand,' Elvis said quietly. 'I know,' the Colonel said, 'none of us do, but right now we need to focus on doing the best thing for your family not to dwell on the past. Who knows maybe one day she'll explain herself but right now...right now I think it's best you focus on the future.' Elvis nodded. It wasn't going to be easy but he was right. He loved Addison and he didn't understand what the hell was going on but his mother needed him. That was what he needed to focus on. The memory stung. He’d trusted the Colonel. He’d tried to believe that Addison wouldn’t just go but he hadn't had time to pry. And after that he’d been too grief-stricken to fight whatever lies he’d been told. It was easier to accept that she mustn’t have loved him as much as he thought even though deep down he didn’t know how that could be true. Still, as he thought about her out on her own with a newborn baby his heart ached. Though he supposed he could see how she hadn’t seen any other way out. How the doubts in his mind would’ve been so much worse in her own given everything she had already been through. But that didn’t matter now. None of it mattered. They already lost enough time and dwelling on what had happened wasn’t going to fix that. He needed to look to getting to know his daughter. That was what mattered. He was still lost in his thoughts when the door opened and Jerry slipped in quietly not knowing he was standing in the entryway until he turned around and got startled. ‘Jeez I didn’t know you were,’ he said stopping midsentence as he realised whatever he was going to say didn’t matter as Elvis didn’t seem to be listening, ‘I saw her leave…you alright man?’ ‘Fine,’ Elvis said turning around and heading towards the living area. ‘You sure?’ Jerry said following tentatively, ‘because I can see you didn’t kill one another but if it was a shitshow you can say you know.’ ‘It went fine Jer,’ Elvis said turning to look at him and rolling his eyes at his friend’s doubtful look, ‘honestly. We said what we needed to and got a lot cleared up.’ ‘And…the girl?’ Jerry said. Elvis smiled a truly genuine smile. ‘She’s mine man,’ he said, the words still feeling weird coming out of his mouth. ‘And we’re happy about it, right?’ Jerry said. ‘Very,’ Elvis nodded. ‘Well alright,’ Jerry said clapping him on the shoulder, ‘at least this birth was less traumatic for me than Lisa’s.’ ‘Yeah well you ain’t outta the woods just yet,’ Elvis said making Jerry’s brow furrow, ‘I need a favour.’ ‘Go on,’ he said. ‘I need your help. With this, all of it, but no one can know, okay?’ Elvis said. Jerry nodded, ‘I mean it. Not a word. Just you, Son and Red that’s it. No one else.’ ‘Got it,’ Jerry nodded. ‘And Jer?’ ‘Yeah?’ ‘Not a word of this to the Colonel,’ Elvis said. Jerry looked at him unsure for a second and then nodded. Elvis knew it would seem odd to have that stipulation on the end given that he’d already banned the situation from being aired to anyone other than the boys but he had to be sure the Colonel would come nowhere near this. If not for Addison for him. After all, he hadn’t decided what he was going to do about his so-called manager just yet.

10 Things I think of when it's comes to Disney
It's 100 anniversary of Disney, I put 10 instead of 100 cos I can't think of more than 10.
10. Cinderella
I never liked this movie but at school when it rainy day and too wet to play outside, we stay indoor watching video, they keep putting Cinderella on alot, it annoying. Sure they have many video and they keep having Cinderella on. Not sure about many time they did but remember one time a year before I left for other school they decide to put Tom and Jerry, which is just as worse. Remember that Fairy God mother singing.
9. Walt Disney
A guy who invited Disney company. A Legend. There rumor he's a nazi cos he was against Unions. It just rumor. But wonder what he think of Disney of today?
8. Mickey Mouse
It started with a mouse. I prefer him over Bugs Bunny. Even seen a documenty of him. I hardly see much cartoons of him but he's an icon. I remember a teacher draw a picture of Mickey Mouse for me.
7. DisneyWorld/Land
I never been but love to go to Disney World. I see alot of people been to Disney land or Disney world. Shame castle at Disney World not open to public like ones in Disneyland, but it was used for posh hotel and hired Venue (where it hired for wedding or something) I believe they f****d up. It iconic, should used for Public instead of just being there for display. I may prefer seeing Millennium Falcon.
6. Dinosaur
When I had our PC, I start going on internet and there site talking about movies and there upcoming movie called Dinosaur. It release in USA but took few month before it premier in UK. At time I unable go to cinema as I'm a high schooler. My mum got making of Dinosaur video from goven tokens to some newspaper. It took times before it release on video and saved up my pocket money to buy it. When college I start getting it on DVD. I remeber to someone at high school, he did make fun.
5. Princess Elsa and Anne
Used to into them when Forzen was big and it used to be part of British Christmas. Even bought two dolls. But seem I glow out of it.
4. Toy Story
Since first movie when out it was big. I wanted to watch and I already love these characters, they are lovable characters even to these who never seen it yet. There a English local newspaper even did an article about ''Parents like Woody and children prefer Buzz'' and even say Woody act like dad. I like both along with Slinky dog and Green Army Soldiers and RC Car. Used to dislike Bo Beep but she okay and she Woody's love interest. Happy he with her at Toy Story 4. Are squeals are great. Not fan of Starrberry Bear, he's an a***, he almost got the gang to be burned.
3. Marvel
Well, I was shock to see Disney bought Marvel. On that day I wonder what they do. I do hope for Captain Britain or Union Jack movie or tv show. And also new Punisher show or movie, cos they're my favourite Marvel characters. Avengers movie are awesome. Looking forward for new Deadpool and even I dislike them, what be their X-Men or Fantastic Four be like. Also like Goose the cat.
2. Star Wars
I was also shock they got Star Wars as well they had Marvel. Well, if this haven't happen there be no BB8, Porgs, D-0 and Grogu (Baby Yoda). Was big Star Wars fan, but wasn into it but when BB8 come along I big interests in Star Wars. I do think I'm a Star Wars fan or a BB8 fan. Everyone has it's favouites. Of course BB8 is my favourite, along with D-0, Porgs, Grogu and BD-1, also like Boba Fret, Din/Mando and Stormtrooper. I was hoping for Boba Fret movie, but series ok, but they got some negative. I do enjoyed Andor surpricely.
Wanted to add, we do watched alot of Disney animated classic movies (almost all of them) and even Disney cartoons, like DuckTales and Tail Spin. When I was young I wanted my own Disney like company like it has cartoons and movies I like, theme park that like Disney land/World, it nuts I know but I was young. What happen to Disney now is upsetting with classic turn to action live and wokeness/politics into the company.
Sox (Lightyear)
Maybe it something to do with cats or something. When Lightyear come out I took interest with this character. I see the movie kinda of a flop to some or most. I warch this movie few times cos of Sox, to me best thing about this movie. I see in Youtube before I see Lightyear, show Sox got stomp on I was little upset about but when saw the movie it was different Sox, but sad that Sox got killed off. He's my favourite Disney character.
