Tom and Jerry & the Wizard of Oz (2011)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
I don't often give movies "So Bad It's Good" ratings. Even rarer are low “So Bad It’s Good” ratings. If a movie isn't good and isn't enjoyably awful, it probably isn't pleasant under any definition. I'm making an exception for Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz. Why? Well, it all began with Tom and Jerry and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; a film so bad you had to see it to believe it. No one in their right mind would rent or buy that cinematic mistake. All of its profits must have come from grandparents with poor eyesight desperate to find their grandkids a last-minute Christmas gift. After seeing it, no one would give any Tom and Jerry films - past or future - a chance but it's still available for purchase today. As long as Tom and Jerry and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is out there, the only audience for this… adaptation? Spoof? Follow-up? to the 1939 Judy Garland classic are demented cinephiles who purposely seek bad movies. Why aren’t they going to be pleased? Read on.
While reuniting Dorothy Gale (voiced by Grey Griffin) with her dog Toto, Tom and Jerry get sucked into a twister and transported to the magical land of Oz. Following Dorothy’s tracks on the yellow brick road, they meet munchkin Tuffy (voiced by Kath Soucie) who tells them of the great and powerful Oz (Joe Alaskey) - the only being who can help them return home.
Unlike Tom and Jerry and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this isn’t a straight retelling of the original film with the two violence-prone cat and mouse clumsily jammed in. This is an “original movie” with an original plot. It's sort of a Lion King 1 ½ type of story. We see familiar events from a new angle. For instance, did you ever wonder how that bucket of water ended up in the Wicked Witch of the West’s castle? You'll know its back story after this film. What’s that? You never cared? You shouldn't, and that's why this movie fails. This side story is razor thin. In fact, the whole thing clocks in at a slim 56 minutes - far less than the film it’s spinning off of. Unfortunately, since you don’t care about anything, it feels much longer.
This is a perfect example of a film that would be better if it were worse. The new songs are bad, but they’re lame, not cringe-inducing and not memorable. The animation is cheap. I only counted one scene in which a character had a shadow. However, the budget isn’t so low that characters are constantly off-model or animated in a way that makes for great stills. Similarly, since the plot is new, there are no plot holes or nonsensical developments like we had in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ripoff. This means there is less to make fun of and many more reasons to become bored.
This is a picture for a non-existent audience. No adult watching will go “I’d much rather watch this than the classic!” If you haven’t seen Dorothy Gale’s original adventure, you won’t understand this plot because it assumes you already know the story and blazes through important information. It isn’t good, and isn’t bad enough to be fun. There’s no reason to see this film and everyone who made it knew this perfectly well. I can’t think of any reason why anyone should ever see it but I also don’t hate it enough to care if you disagree. (On DVD, November 23, 2018)

PALABRAS

Take Wyatt Earp as a biopic and it is a superb and fair film. Compare it to Tombstone which was more of a Western and it’s lacking the flair. However, it ends abruptly, and it is miscast. Cosner (and i am a fan) doesn’t really make a good Earp. Dennis Quaid who I am also a fan of, doesn’t make a good Doc. This was 1994, in the 80s I might have a dif...

Querido amigo:

round up // JUNE 22
Tumblr media
Big action! Twisty plots! They can only mean one thing: summer. Big blockbusters are back in theaters, and so am I! This month’s list of recommendations is on the short side, but there are still top 10 picks, including three movies fresh to the big screen or streaming.
June Crowd-Pleasers
Tumblr media
1. Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
The kind of blockbuster that is making people who aren’t passionate about movies to become passionate about this movie. I’ve talked with many in the last few weeks who have said they haven’t seen or don’t like the 1986 Top Gun or action movies in general, but they all left in love with this sequel. As one who is passionate about movies and loves Top Gun, I also gotta say it took my breath away. Be sure to see it on the big screen for the ultimate thrill ride. Crowd: 10/10 // Critic: 8/10
Tumblr media
2. Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)
Apparently Rescue Rangers was a TV show starring Chip and Dale in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s—that means nothing to me. What does mean something to me: John Mulaney and Andy Samberg teaming up to voice animated chipmunks and inviting their pals (like Will Arnett, Keegan Michael-Key, Chris Parnell, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, J.K. Simmons, and—wait, Steve Curtis Chapman?) to join this hilarious Who Framed Roger Rabbit?-style adventure. Now make Aunt-Man, you cowards! Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8/10
Tumblr media
3. Double Feature—Police Action Thrillers: Chaos (2005) + Copshop (2021)
Fun fact about me: I’ll watch Jason Statham in pretty much anything, and…I’m pretty much on my way to doing that. Chaos (Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 6/10) is one of the most watchable action B-movies he’s been in (and believe me, “watchable” is higher praise for his canon than you’d think—you can only remake The Italian Job so many times). Statham, Ryan Phillippe, and Wesley Snipes lead a twisty bank robbery plot that may surprise you even with its hackneyed setup. That’s also true for Copshop (Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 6.5/10), which is a twisty prison break plot Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, and Alexis Louder turn into something fun. Pair these movies together for an afternoon of action comfort food.
Tumblr media
4. Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Look, we can sit around and pick at its flaws, but that is not this review. Here are three things I loved about this movie (which is part of a franchise you know I love):
Dominion is by far the most intellectually curious of the World movies, asking big questions about ethics in science, how we cope with impending disaster, and our responsibility to each other. These are all-time questions but feel especially relevant to our time in how they're presented, and I don’t think any Jurassic movie has been this curious since ’93.
It reunited my Avengers (Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill) and gave them appropriate and consistent arcs for each of them, not just cameos! Even better, it let Goldblum be Goldblum, which was my biggest wish for this movie.
It featured some of the most fun set pieces of the World series: That chase in Malta! A triple giant dino fight! Scary locust! Even better, homages to the past and the fresh-to-the-franchise ideas were in balance.
Maybe another day I will write about the things that did not work, but I'm still reveling in the Dern and dinos at the moment. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7/10
Tumblr media
5. Runaway Jury (2003)
2003: My dad dragged me to see this in theaters though I insisted I wasn't interested. To this day it is still only one of two movies I've ever fallen asleep during at the cinema. (The other was Master and Commander, which I did want to see. Apparently 2003 was a bad year for holding my attention.)
Father's Day 2022: Finally finished it with Dad! Though I’m feeling validated this movie was not for a pre-teen me, it’s quite fun for adults who understand of how juries work. Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman are competing to chew the most scenery, and John Cusack and Rachel Weisz may or may not be your classic John Grisham heroes to root for in this twisty conspiracy plot. PSA: I am ready for John Cusack to make a comeback at anytime. If you have any influence in the matter, I appreciate you using it to make whatever we're watching better. All team-ups with Joan welcome. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 8/10
June Critic Picks
Tumblr media
1. It’s Always Fair Weather (1953)
I don’t care what you say—Gene Kelly’s tap dance in roller skates here confirms my love for the terrible-yet-delightful Xanadu. The Turner Classic Movies intro informed me this was pitched as a sequel to On the Town but was reworked when Frank Sinatra and Jules Munshin were unavailable. Knowing this does make me wish the OG team could’ve reunited for that vision—the other two guys felt like filler, not like a part of a true ensemble—but I’m such a sucker for Kelly and Cyd Charisse that their dancing and the fun premise covers those weaknesses. Crowd: 7/10 // Critic: 7.5/10
Tumblr media
2. And the Oscar Goes to… Podcast
TCM host Jacqueline Stewart is putting together a podcast about pivotal Oscar ceremonies? You don’t have to tell me twice to subscribe. Listen for insight on how the Academy Awards overlap with politics, social change, the history of film in in 1940, 1957, 1973, 2002, and more.
Tumblr media
3. Margin Call (2011)
I can’t pretend I understand all the economic, um, stuff in this inspired-by-the-2008-financial-collapse drama, but I do understand the power of a top-notch cast to create suspense even with a clueless audience. Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Demi Moore, Zachary Quinto, Stanley Tucci, and more will get you invested even if you’re like me and have zero interest in Wall Street. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9/10
Tumblr media
4. Good Reads
A miscellaneous Round Up of links that appeared in my inbox and Twitter feed I’m happy to put in yours.
“The Jonas Brothers Are 'Better' Than They've Ever Been: 'We're Having the Time of Our Lives,’” People.com (2022) - I’ve never felt more seen than when People listed 100 reasons to love American and made the Jonas Brothers #1
“The 25 Most Quintessential 1980s Soundtracks, From Top Gun and Footloose to Do the Right Thing and Repo Man,” Variety.com (2022) - Because no other decade has done soundtracks like the ‘80s
“A New Golden Age Emerges for O.G. Film Stars,” HollywoodReporter.com (2022) - A follow-up of my recommendations of Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World Dominion
“Labor Exploitation, Explained by Minions,” Vox.com (2022) - This is a little ridiculous—few things in life deserve to be analyzed less than the Minions—but it’s so well-written I couldn’t help but get a kick out of it
“What Would You Like to Know?” Vulture.com (2022) - You know I wouldn’t scroll past a Joe Alwyn profile
“I’m Not Afraid of Stephen King Books Because I Know Maine Isn’t Real,” McSweeneys.net (2022)
“The Lord of the Rings Hobbit Stars Reunite for 'Smash It Out of the Park' Dinner,” EW.com (2022) - My heart!
Tumblr media
5. Letter From an Unknown Woman (1948)
Joan Fontaine strikes again! Here she’s a lovesick groupie of a handsome pianist (Louis Jourdan) who basically wills a relationship with him into existence. It’s a tragic romance that will make you swoon over their affair and the gowns. Another entry on my Letterboxd list “’40s Gals Just Trying to Live Their Best Lives BUT SOCIETY.” Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9/10
Also this June…
My Best Picture Project continues slowly but surely with How Green Was My Valley, aka the film that beat Citizen Kane for Best Picture. If this kind of movie isn’t your cup of tea, this especially slow-paced drama won’t be for you. But if historical family dramas make you feel warm and cozy, it’s worth checking out. Read my Crowd and Critic reviews.
On SO IT’S A SHOW?, Kyla and I released a new episode the HBO sitcom(?) The Comeback. What real life lawsuit may have inspired a storyline on the show? Is it possible for a show to be cringier than the character of April Nardini on Gilmore Girls? (Spoiler alert: Yes.) And what on Earth is the “that” no one wants to see? Get the documentary crew ready to follow us on our journey!
And in ep. 123, Lorelai is comparing Rory’s new apartment to an Irish memoir and a ‘70s sitcom—you know, like you do all the time. How were we introduced to these references by two modern sitcoms? What do Harry Potter actors have to do with Angela’s Ashes? Can you still go to the Sanford and Son junkyard? And are Rory’s new digs with Paris really as bad as the homes Lorelai is referencing?

Esperanza

Boss Level, 2020 - ★★★★½
Tumblr media
I love Joe Carnahan. He’s hit and miss. But when he hits (Narc, The Grey) he really hits, and when he misses (Smokin' Aces, Stretch) I love it anyway! He’s an excellent director who makes genre movies with heart and balls. Carnahan is in the Doug Liman camp of filmmaker; making indie/blockbuster fusions that are always both bleeding edge and classic. His best strength is that he knows what to explain and when and why to hold back instead.
I also love action movies. Not for the action but for how it fits and frames the action with all the gubbins around it. I always find the physicality and acting in action sequences as extensions of the story and character development and vice versa and all the best action movies know that the action is the musical number of a Bollywood film; an integral expression.
I love these movies in particular: gonzo, highly creative, eccentric and edgy action movies, usually video game inspired or with a hard science fiction bent (Boss Level having both). Crank, Hardcore Henry, The Matrix and to a lesser extent Edge of Tomorrow, Source Code and John Wick all share Boss Level's post-modern action movie spark. All of which very much carry the video game gene within their DNA.
The video game vibe and influence drips through Boss Level in a very overt and yet teasing way. It has the Streets of Rage Boss lair, the OTT speeches, the Deus Ex Machina, the henchpeople based around their weaponry, the generic (and generically named) locations and the NPC characters and dialogue. It feels like such virtual reality that if The Wachowskis refuse to make sequels to their upcoming Matrix film, Joe Carnahan wouldn't be a terrible choice.
I must say that Mel Gibson's real return to form is here rather than in The Beaver. Frank Grillo gives a chunky and also humorous performance; he's gruff and sexy and ice cold and beefy but not particularly nuanced or engaging in the eyes despite nailing his voice over.
Boss Level is much more using Groundhog Day to tell a story and leaning into the video game cliches to make it unique, loveable and curious. Despite one moment of monumentally bad green screen akin to Ten Commandments, Boss Level is an explosive and watchable movie, not earth shattering but mostly made for me and I dig it.

Johnny Bravo and the Pitfalls of Satire
Tumblr media
One of my earliest blog posts was an essay defending Johnny Bravo from a feminist perspective.  In my defense of it, I mentioned in passing that one of the ways that the series still falls short of truly being a feminist show was that it potentially diminishes how detestable his behavior towards women is.
This post is partially a response to that one.  I grossly undercut how pernicious the show’s treatment of Johnny’s behavior towards women is.
One thing that is important to point out is that Johnny Bravo was a show that was created by and mostly if not entirely written and directed by men.  From the top of my head, the biggest names I can think of that been attached to the show are Van Partible, Butch Hartman, Seth MacFarlane, John McIntyre, Gene Grillo, Jed Spingarn, Russell Calabrese, Kirk Tingblad, and Craig Bartlett.  I also feel I should be clear about this as well.  If I haven’t mentioned this already, I absolutely love Johnny Bravo.  As a kid, it was my favorite Cartoon Cartoon after Ed, Edd n Eddy and as an adult it still remains a favorite of mine.  In my own circles, the only other animation fans I have talked to who were also fans of Johnny Bravo were other men.  I have plenty of female friends who are animation fans and grew up watching Cartoon Network in the early-mid ’00s and none of them I talked about Johnny Bravo with cared for it very much.  I know this is purely anecdotal, but I suspect that this example speaks to my female friends’ experiences with the subject matter Johnny Bravo’s central focus is on vs. mine and my other male friends’ experiences with it.
One way that I think Johnny Bravo falls short in this regard is that it frames all of the women Johnny makes a move on as interchangeable, in their personalities and their designs.  Most of them aren’t even given names.  I understand that this is a show framed strictly from Johnny’s perspective and I don’t doubt for a second that he sees all the women as interchangeable.  However, the show never challenges that framing, and this is a show that has no problem putting Johnny back in his place in every other regard.  Since the show was so focused on Johnny, viewers never got a good perspective of what those women go through in their lives (because Johnny’s not the only man who treats any of them like a piece of meat) with the exception of the season four episode “Witch-Ay Woman”.  I understand that doing this would have made Johnny Bravo a very different show, but as it is a shortcoming is still a shortcoming nonetheless.
This brings me to the other shortcoming of the show.  Even though Johnny Bravo was constructed to be a satirical takedown of meat-headed male chauvinists like our titular character, audiences have long been trained to sympathize with the protagonist in a given piece of media.  As an example, a few years back CNN caught flak for their coverage of the Steubenville rape case because their coverage centered around how devastated the rapists must have felt hearing the guilty verdict and only mentioned the rape victim in passing.  Getting back to Johnny Bravo, the quandary the creators found themselves in is that although they want to use the character to denounce male chauvinism, they can’t make him so reprehensible that nobody would have a good reason to watch (a good example of utterly deplorable characters making a satire unwatchable is the short-lived Lil’ Bush).  So they responded by making Johnny really funny, charismatic, and endearing in his stupidity and failures.  Problems arise because oftentimes the endearing aspects of characters like Johnny obfuscate whatever satirical critique they were supposed to represent (see Homer Simpson, Archie Bunker, Eric Cartman, Glen Quagmire, Rick from Rick & Morty, Tony Montana, Jordan Belfort from The Wolf of Wall Street).  Since the audience is not granted as much exposure to all of the women Johnny makes moves on, it’s harder to empathize with them than with Johnny, even if it’s easy to understand why they all beat the crap out of him.
This brings me to a bigger quandary about satire that all satirists and aspiring satirists have to grapple with.  In short, doing effective satire is hard.  Really hard.  Effective satire has to carefully thread that fine line between authorial intent vs. death of the author with whatever statement the author intends to make intact and clear to the wider audience.  It is really easy for satire to fail somewhere and when satire fails, it inadvertently reinforces the idea it had attempted to take to task.
Tumblr media
Speaking of a satirist often criticized for his portrayal of women, I think Robert Crumb is often a great case-study of satire that often fails.  There are definitely instances where his satire succeeds (this example is extremely graphic, so I’m only gonna share the first page of it, you can look up the rest yourself if you want to), but there are also many times where his satirical point is lost on me or on audiences in general.  The most infamous examples of this are his are “When the Niggers Take Over America” and “When the Goddamn Jews Take Over America”.  These examples are particularly infamous because white supremacist groups took these comics at face value and used them for recruitment.  I suspect that Crumb’s thought process behind these pieces are that the racism/antisemitism in them is so over-the-top that nobody could possibly believe this and that nobody could mistake him for being racist/antisemitic because his adoration for many African-American blues artists and marriage to a Jewish woman have long been public knowledge.
The problem is the first line of thinking is that Crumb naively underestimated how fanatically unhinged the beliefs of many racist/antisemitic people actually are.  The problem with the second line of thinking is that first of all, one can still perpetuate racism/antisemitism (intentionally or inadvertently) without explicitly holding those beliefs.  Second of all, the extent to which Crumb himself is not racist has never been clear to me.  I don’t think he necessarily believes all the stuff he portrayed in “When the Niggers Take Over America”, but I was never clear on what his point was with Angelfood McSpade and his constant portrayal of black people with sambo imagery in his older comix.  I’ve heard many times before that all that imagery was satirical but it never differentiated from intentionally racist imagery to me.  I suppose the sambo drawings are consistent with the 1920s aesthetic he drew his other characters with (Ku Klux Klan membership was at an all-time high in the 1920s), but that’s not a critique of racism.  I have always interpreted Crumb’s work as an expression of his id, unfiltered in its ugliness for all to see.  Just as Crumb has always been uncomfortably candid in sharing his sexual proclivities in his work (and in a way that is not at all flattering to himself), I always interpreted his sambo drawings as his own admission to his own latent racism (and his portrayals of women as his own latent misogyny).  It is what it is, but it ain’t a satire of racism.
To get back to Johnny Bravo, I stand by my assertion that its conception was an attempt of showing deference toward women and the advances they have made in society since the days of Pepe Le Pew.  But I’m more aware now of how it falls short than I was before and I thought it was important to be clear on that.

Weekenders Adventures of Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Tumblr media
And now, a technological breakthrough in Pooh's Adventures history - a classic unnecessarily reworked with your favourite cartoon characters, unnecessarily reworked with your favourite cartoon characters! The infamous Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a.k.a. Why Paramount Should’ve Kept Those Rights in the First Place, was the closest a corporation-based animation studio could get to channelling Pooh’s Adventures as it so commonly stands - deliberate exposition that dumbs the original mains down, absolutely no reason for the guests to be there other than comic relief, a villain confrontation scene where there shouldn’t have been, dialogue tampered with to bring up these newcomers, you name it.
So of course Poohphiles would enjoy it enough to slap even less time-consistent cartoon characters onto that and make them twice as useless by having them direct every pratfall the cat and mouse stumble into as usual. This might just be fan fiction, but this is still what storytelling shouldn’t be. And so, without further adieu, let’s bite into Weekenders Adventures of Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I can’t believe I just pasted that either.
Part 1
0:15 His most diabolical scheme yet.
0:28 Implying this is artful enough to be transferred onto celluloid.
0:43 Tiff is about to request that the volume be increased, but all Dedede ironically shushes her. All he wants is Kirby's suffering.
1:18 Originality truly is dead.
3:00 As terrible as the original, uh, Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka is, at least Spike Brandt chose characters who knew when to shut up.
3:49 Oh my god.
4:30 OH MY GOD.
7:13 Why are they paired up with these two again?
7:28 How not to script a crossover vs. how absolutely not to script a crossover.
7:42 Charlie didn't even ask...
7:57 ...neither does he care.
8:17 If you're not as starving as they were, YOU SHOULDN'T BE IN THIS MOVIE.
8:24 What's in your wallet?
8:34 Charlie's ignoring you.
9:08 How about offering some, you greedy fucks?
9:14 How about using some of your contract "more"?
9:17 It can't be that hard, right? ............Right?!
Part 2
0:59 Are every single one of them that foolish not to bring just the slightest nickel on their journey?
1:05 You can say that over and over again.
1:27 Says the girl who will just give over to temptation anyway, including booping what should not be booped.
3:01 You've got a better cartoon to attend to.
5:04 Clearly someone hasn't heard of a term called "surprise".
5:47 Bravo. Just coming out clean rather than saving yourselves jail time.
6:10 You know, at least Brerdaniel would probably treat Tom and Jerry as goofy pet sidekicks rather than have a bunch of usually-independent chatterboxes follow suit.
6:19 That's what the mouse was mentally suggesting, faithful student.
7:07 Alright! What delicious spells has Star conjured up ready for blas- Oh. Never mind.
7:31 As for the rest of you, welp, you're screwed.
8:12 Worse than tobacco?
8:57 And whoever else is surrounding the desks but doesn't matter in the slightest.
9:58 Something with more artistic merit than this.
11:46 Some kid that has lifted dicks up for generations somehow.
12:11 How..................am I barely riffing on two well-known cartoon characters' extensive presence in a movie they're not supposed to be a part of?
12:42 And how are they not noticing that creepy old man on TV? A gaping flaw in the dumbest of Pooh's Adventures implemented into a corporate, Korean-co-produced film from WB. Welcome to 2017 in cinema.
13:27 *grumbles* I know, right?
14:04 And just like Pooh's Adventures, an extra guest just had to be thrown in.
Part 3
0:18 Lor, you're in 7th grade. That, and you're mentally stable. Think about what you're saying.
0:20 Diverting gender norms, are we, Nobita?
0:31 Physically, you're not helping.
1:03 Unless Star could use her noodle arms to pick it straight out.
2:09 Those poor Koreans.
3:03 Star's not not feeling it lately.
3:32 You don't ask that the very moment you bump into one.
4:12 It's the 90's all over again, and some millennials just happen to be in the scene as Slugworth turns Veruca's song into a goddamn reprise.
9:40 They're the only two guests dancing. Remind me what the point of this crossover is again?
11:47 And you only just noticed?
11:49 Even Twilight Sparkle herself wouldn't figure it out so accurately. She may be a god, but she's no psychic.
12:28 Or, you know, just hop onto the sidewalks.
13:00 And one of you could've just tucked it firmly into your pocket, you lazy fucks.
14:59 A simple "excuse me" would suffice?
Part 4
0:02 And the rest? They all sneak in somehow without being detected.
1:25 See how boring and clueless these people now are?
1:49 I can understand Tom and Jerry squeezing through a pipe, but everyone else?!
2:44 In a shopping mall, no less.
3:30 But in clown garb!
4:23 tfw when a mouse can silently explain the situation better than you can.
5:00 Speak for yourself, all you're doing is standing there.
5:20 I'll say.
5:52 Hiding yourselves, on the other hand...
6:31 ...beyond "kinky".
7:23 Christ, at least Tom and Jerry are doing nothing to interrupt not-Gene-Wilder’s soothing melody.
8:00 How did nobody in the guest team accidentally push one of theirs into the river trying to rescue him?
9:07 Who now?
9:39 Why is Star so aggressive in this crossover? Her religion is unicorns and rainbows, you’d think she’d giggle and dance around non-stop being in the same team as Princess Twilight Sparkle.
11:35 This is wasted fetish potential.
11:51 Oh, finally you give a shit.
12:24 Wha?!?!?!?!?!?!?
13:31 ALL of you?
Part 5
0:02 She looks like she's seen this before. Hmm.
0:46 For once, censorship actually makes the source material less awkward.
1:01 Oh, please, this ain't close to worthy of a montage. You could have seen a live chicken being chopped up.
3:09 She came straight out of nowhere. EXPOSITION. LEARN IT.
5:03 Truly wasted fetish potential.
7:22 Every other guest concurs.
8:18 *slow clap*
8:31 He already had a dog by his side, no need to make every line of dialogue politically correct.
9:18 INCREASED fetish potential.
10:16 And like many Pooh's Adventures creators, the writers do not understand independent thinking.
11:06 Um, Marco............... Oh, fuck it.
11:34 HE'S IGNORING YOU.
11:57 UNBEARABLY wasted fetish potential.
12:30 What, you want to kill him?!
16:48 Good.
Part 6
0:33 And it really should've been you all.
0:48 GO DIE IN ANOTHER FIRE.
3:36 Which is more than I can say about everyone following him.
4:39 See what at least happens when you have every character in the frame? SEE HOW BORING THAT MAKES YOUR CROSSOVER IF YOU SPLICE IT WITH IMOVIE?!?!?!?!?!
5:18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUEd6gPjIsY
6:55 Sunset Shimmer fires Megan. Meme videos at their finest.
7:42 But how does even Wonka automatically recognise their names?
9:20 Well, certainly not Megan, whoever she was. Why was she in this again?
9:46 Star's response is priceless.
11:08 Of course we have crack shipping in this thing. Sunset is technically a horse.
11:53 Story of a Poohphile's YouTube career. Wonka knows what he's smirking about.
15:25 You're telling us.
15:28 SMART CHOICE!
15:30 Who has already spun fast enough in his 2016 deathbead.
Outtakes
And finally here's some outtakes, because someone thought bloopers could work in Pooh's Adventures. Prepare to cringe like you've never cringed before.

Overall: 7.2/5
-0.44/10. This is the epitome of pointless, and a chilling reminder of the potential devolution of storytelling now that it’s possible to build stories out of emojis and Slenderman. This being simple-minded, inoffensive fan fiction by a couple of guys with needs hosted by Google Drive and linked to in one out of 27,000 wiki pages, of course it’d be insignificant to the community compared to what you can pay money for right now, but as far as innovation goes, and I say this as a film critic in progress, it’s misguided, aimless and devoid of any substance of any form. I’m just saying, with plenty of much-deserved scholarship, maybe you could be writing far more intricate prose than "Tom, Imagine when a chocolate mouse appears." I know Time Warner didn’t get some when they commissioned Gene Grillo to write Tom and Jerry into Roald Dahl. If someone else is planning to put a few (or a thousand) more cameos into Tom and Jerry’s gonzo Wonka trek for fun and not for profit, you bet I’ll be ready-ish.
