I can just see Eragon sad-walking through Ellesméra during his training when his back was really bad and just crouching awkwardly and shoving bits of random plants in his mouth like “maybe this will cure me…” in some sniffly sat wet-with-tears Eragon voice of misery.

every segment of les mis where marius narrates is essentially one chapter of “marius is full of passion and excitement! he’s going to make action” immediately followed by “marius has lost all hope in life and is waiting to die” and then the cycle repeats again 😭

I’m running early for the movie night on Saturday. As I zip myself into my coat by the door I feel pleased with myself about it, because it means for once I won’t be rushing. Maybe I can even be extra nice and prove to Michelle that I am not always the nightmarishly annoying boy she thinks I am by helping to make popcorn, or pouring sweets into little bowls for her.
Tumblr media
My mother descends the staircase just as I am about to leave. “Jude?” She says, “Where are you headed?”
“Jen’s, we’re just watching a film.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, no. You’ll have to be home tonight with Ivy. I have plans.”
I am incredulous, “Plans, mom?”
“Don’t act so surprised, please, yes, I have plans. I’m going into the city centre for eight. Ivy can’t be left alone, I thought you would be here.”
“You thought but you didn’t ask.”
Tumblr media
She rolls her eyes and makes her way over to the hallway mirror to fidget with her earring. They’re the Swarovski crystal ones she got from Dad a few birthdays ago and acted unenthused about. It was probably just to get to him because I’ve seen them on her multiple times since, too many times for a woman who said they weren’t her style. “Well if we’re both going out then you’ll have to arrange to have the babysitter come over.”
Tumblr media
“Me? Why me?”
“As I explained to you, I need to be in town at eight. It will take me twenty minutes to walk to the DART station and then another twenty to get to the restaurant.”
“Why are you getting the DART?”
“Because I intend to have a drink.”
Tumblr media
I pull a face. Is she really going out for fun? My mother does not have fun. I’m convinced that she enjoys nothing, in fact, and only cracks a smile when she is pretending to experience joy like some sort of alien life form attempting to imitate human emotion. “Dad is home,” I manage after several perplexed seconds, standing by the coat rack while she applies some sort of sticky gloss to her lips.
Tumblr media
“Your father is in his office working. He can’t look after a child when he is working,” She sighs with impatience, because shouldn't it be obvious that this man cannot possibly watch his child while in the same house as her? “Why are you so confused? We have the babysitter’s number in the address book, just arrange for her to come over. Your father will pay her.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Yeah, and if she’s not available? Agnieszka is nineteen and it’s a Saturday night…”
“Then you’ll have to stay behind,” She turns and looks me up and down, shrugging carelessly, “sorry.”
Tumblr media
I shrug out of my coat and stalk into the kitchen where the address book of all of the people who come and go from this house is stacked neatly in a drawer. I should really have them all off by heart, or at least saved in my phone for the amount of times I have to phone these people.
“Goodbye, Jude.” Mom calls from the hallway.
I don’t answer her. She shuts the door with a thump.

We already know how Gabriel was as a child and an adult, but as a teenager?
The fact that I just finished artwork with teen Gabriel—
Tumblr media
Technically Teen Gashley but it still works
Before running away, Gabe was kept under a very tight leash by his parents. Didn’t really go anywhere besides school and anywhere his parents took him. School still wasn’t the best place for him, he got along well with his teachers- but his peers still didn’t like him. Also didn’t help when rumors got out about him apparently liking girls, and then him confirming it cause he didn’t know better. Dude- just couldn’t catch a break.

any updates on genesis? 🥺
hi anon!!! i live!! do not worry it is happening 💖 here is a snippet of the start of next chapter to tide your over til i have time to do a final edit 💖💖💖 Theo walked slowly towards the Bridgerton's doorstep. The purple flowers and clear blue sky were as warm and welcoming as always, and the smell of freshly baked bread escaped from the open first floor windows. The illusion of perfect peace was soon tarnished by the muffled noise of children screeching.
The moment he walked through the door alone, left behind by a grumpy and disgruntled John who did not offer to take his coat, Theo realised he needed to stop getting his hopes up for any sense of peace in Mayfair. As there, chasing each other around the stairs while a maid stood panting, clutching her knees, were Eloise's two youngest siblings. Wild as Daisy, but without a roof to climb, the two settled for chasing each other and giggling like sheep dog let loose in the field for the first time.
Theo watched this with all the bafflement of a person who had not spent an extended amount of time with children before, even when he was a child himself.
As a guest in the house, he was almost certain he shouldn't interfere. It was not his place. Clinging to this rule of propriety that no one had informed him of and likely did not exist, Theo stood by the door desperately looking around for his queue to leave. It did not arrive. Instead, the two children spotted him and ran towards him like bloodhounds.

It'd probably be hilarious if size shifting Sonic shrinks when he gets sad or annoyed and it just annoys him even further

What I wanted so badly was for Mary to learn about her boys from Cas. Like that night where Cas finds her when she can’t sleep and she expresses that she just doesn’t know anything about her sons since she missed so much?? All I wanted was for Cas to sit down with her at the table and just start telling her about them. Basic stuff at first: their favorite foods, their sleeping habits, the stuff he’s just observed by being their passenger for years.
And then I want him to say something totally Cas, like “Dean always wears more layers but that’s because his body naturally runs two degrees colder than Sam’s. But that’s normal for him and not indicative of any illness, so it’s nothing to worry about.”
And as they talk, it starts to get a little deeper, and Cas tells her more. He tells her about what she missed, about all the horrible things that happened to her sons and how they coped; how it changed them. And he tells her about Sam, he does, but really it ends up being all about Dean.
He’ll tell her about how Dean clenches his fists when he’s upset, even as he tries to keep his face impassive. About how Dean drums his fingers on the steering wheel when he’s anxious. He’ll tell her about Dean’s nightmares, about the ways he’s chosen to cope. He’ll tell her how to know when to approach Dean and when to give him space, how to gently acknowledge what he’s feeling without pushing him too far.
And with every word he says, Mary’s curious head tilt from when she’d seen them hug in reunion turns into a bone deep type of certainty. Because Cas is telling her things that only someone who paid special attention would notice. He’s telling her things that only someone very, very close to her son’s heart would know.
Cas will tell her the cliff notes of what they’ve been through; will tell her how the whole world looked to Dean and he rose to the occasion over and over again. He’ll tell her about Dean’s doubts in himself and then vehemently declare them as wrong and explain, at length, why. He will tell her about the people Dean has loved— the people who loved him like he was their own— and lost. He will tell her about Bobby, Ellen, Jody, Donna, and Charlie. He’ll tell her about Claire, too, and how Dean stepped up.
And the whole time, Mary will have this realization that oh, she may not have been around to guide and protect her sons, but there was always someone there to care for them and support them when they needed it. She will realize that she and John may have left them, but they were never alone.
But more than that, there was someone there for Dean. Someone picking Dean over and over again while Dean picked Sam, or the world, over himself. There was someone fighting for Dean when he wasn’t fighting for himself. There was someone who saw Dean, and loved him unconditionally.
Sitting across from her, at the asscrack of dawn, filling her in on all the things she missed was every mother’s dream: someone who loved her child with the kind of devotion that would break the world. And from the sounds of the stories she was being told, it did break the world. Someone whose love is entirely untainted and comes without any strings attached.
It’s so clear to her as she listens to Cas talk that Cas loves Dean with no expectations. That loving Dean is something he just does, like he doesn’t know how not to love Dean, like the possibility of not loving him never occurred to Cas. He loves Dean in a way that Mary knows can and will soothe Dean’s sharp edges and battered heart. He loves Dean in the kind of pure way that tells Mary that it will continue to endure and overcome everything without ever diminishing, even the littlest amount.
Mary, through tears, will tell Cas how she always told Dean that there were angels watching over him. And before Cas can make some comment about Dean being the Righteous Man and the interest of most of Heaven, she will place a hand over his and give him a motherly look that will convey all the things she’s not sure how to say— and the things she’s not sure Cas is ready to hear yet. And Cas will flush and look away, mumbling about how her son is very special to him.
And when she pulls him into a hug and murmurs thank yous into his shoulder, she will be comforted in the knowledge that her sons turned out to be wonderful men, and that they managed to stay together through everything. She will be comforted to know that no matter what happens, no matter her shortcomings as she tries to fill a role she never meant to leave, Sam will have Dean and Dean will have Cas.
And this time, when Cas tells her that she belongs here, she will believe him. And she will tell him that he belongs here, too.
And when Dean wakes up a few hours later and wanders in to find Mary and Cas still chatting over the table, he’ll be surprised— but pleased— to find Mary looking more at ease. He’ll be pleased when she gives him a warm hug and pats him on the cheek and tell him with all the sincerity that only a mother can muster that she’s glad that he met Castiel. And when Dean agrees, a little confused, Mary will just smile at him.
“I always said I’d like a third son.” She says, “so give him a reason to take our last name, won’t you?”
And Dean will splutter and turn fifteen shades of red as he steadfastly doesn’t look at Cas but mumbles something that suggests he’s not against the idea at all.
And Mary will laugh again and wink at an equally red Cas before heading towards the kitchen like “Cas said waffles are your favorite, so I hope you’re hungry!”

Things Kaz canonically does in the two years between Crooked Kingdom and Rule of Wolves:
(presumably) massively expands the Dregs' territory
buys Pekka's old club (the Emerald Palace) and completely renovates it, turning it into The Silver Six
massively expands the Crow Club to the point where it's "three times the size of every other establishment on the block"
builds an underground tunnel that goes from the Crow Club to the Geldstraat, where the Van Eck Mansion is
takes Jesper out on jobs with him often enough that Wylan has jokingly banned Jesper from answering the door when he knocks
learns about Ketterdam's Suli laborers and picks up additional knowledge of Suli culture
keeps up with Inej's whereabouts and helps her take out slavers
expands his information network to the Kerch colonies
is on friendly enough terms with the King of Ravka that he taught Nikolai how to pick locks and Nikolai feels comfortable personally writing him a letter when he needs to steal the titanium from Kerch
disguises himself just to follow people around on the streets
was planning to steal the titanium from the military base anyway just for fun
And that's just the stuff we see from Nikolai's and Zoya's incredibly limited perspectives during their Ketterdam sidequest
I 100% agree with Zoya when she thinks that "maybe Kaz was like Nikolai, a boy with an unquiet mind, a man in perpetual need of challenge" because ROW makes it so obvious that Kaz is bored and incredibly restless in his success. Someone get our boy a new life's purpose and a subscription to a long-running unsolved mystery podcast stat
