She had tried several different methods of getting pregnant, including sperm donation and IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedure. But nothing worked. + In 2016 she met little Gisele, who was a baby at the time. She was born prematurely at 29 weeks and had neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) due to narcotics exposure during the pregnancy. Gisele weighed only 1 pound and 14 ounces (850g). Liz visited the baby every day, but no one else came to see her for five months. + The state took away custody of Gisele from her birth parents, so Liz decided to start fostering her. Her love for the little girl grew even more. Ryan posted a heartwarming handwritten letter on LinkedIn. He explained that he has autism and will need a mentor but that he is also a quick learner.⁣ +⁣ His honest letter got people’s attention and within just a few days, job offers started to pour in. Ryan also received a scholarship to Exceptional Minds, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit. She switched jobs and bought a four-bedroom house but she felt unhappy.⁠ +⁠ An email from a local church made Katie think about becoming a foster parent. At first, she fostered Grayson - a 4-days-old boy who was exposed to drugs and abandoned in the hospital. About a year later, Katie officially adopted him.⁠ +⁠ Just a few weeks after Grayson’s adoption, the same hospital asked the single mom if she would foster Hannah - another 4-days-old child.⁠ +⁠ Katie noticed the first name of the baby’s mother was the same as that of Grayson’s birth mother. This was too much of a coincidence so she requested a DNA test. She was stunned but at the same time delighted to discover that Grayson and Hannah were biological siblings.⁠ +⁠ Needless to say, Katie adopted Hannah as well, but this story doesn’t end there. Every year for Earth Day, Ann Blanche Smith Elementary School sent us home with little saplings and every year, I planted it in my parents’ backyard. One year, the tree actually grew! This year, more than 20 years later, my parents moved and we talked about them taking the tree but I told them I wouldn’t be hurt if they didn’t. So I assumed it stayed. Good News!! Costume College 2020's Registration Book is now Available! The Registration Packet includes:  the Registration Book, Pull-out Class Schedule (Grid of daily classes), Gala/Tea Special Meal Request Form, Limited Attendance Class Sign-up Form, and LA Fabric District Tour sign-up form.  The Registration Book is full of all the details you need to help you get the most of your Costume College experience.  I encourage you to read it from cover to cover, even if you attended Costume College last year.  Things to do change from year to year and the Registration Book is where you will learn about those changes.   This year we are offering the Registration Book in two different on-line formats: a flip book and PDF! Both formats are available on our Website. To find online: Go to our website www.costumecollege.net, then "Classes" tab, and then select subsection: "Registration Book & Daily Schedule". If you are already registered to attend, then you should have received an email from us earlier today with the links as well as information on Gala/Tea Special Meal Request Form, Limited Attendance Class Sign-up Form, and LA Fabric District Tour sign-up form. Please note that due to California’s ‘Stay at Home’ order we were unable to produce paper packets for everyone who requested a paper packet when they registered.  While we do have limited number of paper packets for those who need them, they will only be mailed out to those who email the Registrar requesting a packet be mailed.
