great question. while a lot of these gofundmes started to fund evacuations, since the border will not open they have shifted to covering the costs of daily survival in gaza

the cost of food alone in gaza right now has been reported by journalists on the ground (including @siraj2024) to be 20 times the normal price.

and it varies based on location. the north is currently being starved by the IOF so food prices are higher

and there is a lot of evidence on tumblr that proves that these fundraisers do help

@ma7moudgaza2 was able to buy a tent for his family and is currently trying to pay for a solar panel

@siraj2024 was able to secure rent for a (bombed out, but still) apartment for his family over the winter

@mohdiwais was able to fund medical care for his sister after she was shot by the IOF using funds he raised on tumblr

a gaza-based charity called care for gaza has also been directly assisting families with funds used from their gofundme. they even post videos of themselves giving out food

and those are just a few examples. hope this helped!

My plan to escape homelessness. I need your help to get started before winter!

hello friends! i'm a homeless queer guy living in a tiny car. it's been like this for most of my adult life, and i'm trying to make a change! I want to convert a van into my new home! my plan involves these stages:

Stage 1: acquire a van.

while still living off donations in my car, i'm fundraising. as soon as i can afford one, i'll purchase a van. the market shows most used vans that would be suitable are around $3.5-4.5k give or take. we're already about halfway there!

I'm really hoping this stage can be complete before november, as my car is not suited to survive another winter and it could be devastating to attempt it.

Stage 2: survive winter

since winter is approaching, i'll need to quickly put insulated walls in the van and make sure i can live in it. at this point, it'll already be an upgrade to my car, but i won't be able to do much building in cold weather, so it'll just be the bare minimum i need to survive the winter.

during this time, i'll be taking measurements, drawing plans, researching appliances, and generally preparing for the build process. i'll continue fundraising to make sure i can afford all the materials and tools i'll need. i may also take care of any maintenence the van might need. i'll also clean and sell my car so i have some cash from that as well.

Stage 3: build my home!

when it gets warm enough, i'll start doing the actual build. i'll document this on video as much as i can, and post the process on my youtube channel for not only the people who helped me, but for anyone who's curious. i'll start with solar panels and an electricity system, i'll add countertops and kitchen appliances, a shower and sink with plumbing and warm water, a toilet, a real bed, lights, climate control. it'll be essentially a house on wheels, and just the right size for me!

Stage 4: whatever comes next

once i have my new home, i'll need an income. i may take a regular job to support myself at first, and that will actually be possible when i have a shower. but, i've been considering making content pretty much my whole life, and now i think i have a great chance to actually pursue that. i'll use some of the money from selling my car in stage 2 to get some basic equipment (laptop, mic, camera). i'll be posting my van build at first, and after that i'll probably start by telling stories about my time being homeless, but i'm also interested in streaming and video essays. thanks to all the generous support i've been getting from my followers and other people on the internet, i feel my opportunities are wide open!

Since I haven’t seen anything about it on Tumblr yet;

For around 12 hours now, IDF forces have been raiding and sieging Al Shifa hospital in South Gaza. If you know anyone stuck in Gaza who’s been injured, had family who was injured or is medical staff, odds are they were taking refuge in/around Al Shifa. Accurate reports on casualties/wounded are hard to come across at the moment, but there’s video of IOF forces firing at patients and hospital staff and “trying to kill anyone who moves” [al jazeera].

If you weren’t aware; Al Shifa is the largest hospital in Gaza, and it was their departing ambulance convoy who were struck by IOF air strike on November 3rd. The hospital is well over its 700 bed capacity and has been asking desperately for supplies and fuel for weeks, after IOF destroyed their solar panels on Nov 6 and put the entire facility on backup generators.

There are a staggering amount of injured Palestinians and newborn babies in that hospital who cannot be moved from their wards, and are in critical danger without care. Nurses have been forced to either flee or stay behind and risk enemy fire.

It’s worth noting that despite Israeli claims Al Shifa is sitting on top of a Hamas-run bunker and the hospital is a front, the only tunnels they’ve found appear to be the tunnels built BY the IOF in 1983. The ‘terrified Palestinian nurse in Al Shifa’ video from 4 days ago, where a young covered woman appears to cry about Hamas forces in the hospital, is almost definitely Israeli influencer Hannah Abutbul in a bad disguise. Despite this being a ‘targeted operation’ Israeli spokespeople have not been clear on where exactly they think Hamas is operating out of in the enormous complex, and IOF radio reveals there’s been no evidence found of Israeli hostages.

This is a HOSPITAL, full of injured people, mourning families and children being cared for by hospital staff and volunteers.

The real ‘reason’ for the assault becomes obvious when you see footage of IOF soldiers marching the Israeli flag to the top of the hospital. Al Shifa was a conquest for Israel, a humiliation for surviving Palestinians and a message to the region. They did not like a facility that existed outside of their control, that put hope in the hearts of the people they’re trying to slaughter, and so they attacked it.

An update from Bisan, posted today 11/05/23, saying she does not think she will survive long because Israel is bombing anything that may help people survive. Sources of electricity, solar panels, water. Bakeries are running out of petrol and wheat and any that obtain said materials are threatened with bombing.

There is no food and water and without electricity it is impossible to find or make any. The infrastructure is collapsing because 100-300 bombs happened last night, all over Gaza, and people are coughing and ill.

Today, they dropped posts saying this is their LAST CHANCE to evacuate to the south. People have no way to leave, nothing to sustain them, this is genocide. They are starving, injured, ill with gassed air with only the sea left to them. Aid is not reaching anyone.

AMBITIOUS. id just started watching Kenadian and was in the process of trying to drag Solar down with me in another case of "Solar shows me a thing, i get way deeper into it than them, and grab them by the leg". you know how it is. i love the wifies debunk but my favorite kenadian video is definitely Train Escape, so the main focus is on a scene from it:

i like drawing kenadian. he's a fairly unassuming-looking dude. he's a smug catboy with a killcount in the hundreds of thousands. he's just a little guy!

oh, yeah, there's an intentional typo in here. the lyric is "i hope i keep hope intact". it's a minor change, but i feel like the subtle shift to it being future-tense fits (and it's how i heard the lyric up until cross-checking it for the jukebox)

Garnold

26 he/him

- Eloped with Clukr to the town after they both graduated university because his family disapproved of their relationship. Their marriage was officiated by the Mayor’s assistant.

- His family was rich and influential to the area he and Clukr lived in and had a reputation to uphold.

- He is an only child. When asked if he wished he had siblings he’d say “No” on account of how his parents and relatives are.

- Went to a prestigious school and was a star student due to his parents pushing him to be one. Would have preferred to go through his school life generally unbothered.

- Speaks with a very monotone deadpan voice- Made more robotic sounding by his suit’s modulators. This is on purpose, he likes making people think he’s simply just a robot.

- Is pretty serious about his job inventing/creating helpful tech alongside Clukr but is bad at explaining things in layman’s terms and often drones on.

- Fan of old rickety animatronics, Wanted to go to a arcade pizza place with some for his birthday once as a kid but was brought to a fancy restaurant instead.

- Though he is an already large and strong person he made his suit enhance this even more, to the point of allowing him to bend and crush metal quite easily with his hands.

Clukr

25 He/him

- Eloped with Garnold to the town, Did not mind running away much. Came up with their new last name “Electrum” as neither wanted to carry their family names.

- Was in the custody of his uncle and worked at his garage from a young age. Wasn’t usually supervised much so hung out with delinquents around his age at the time.

- Smart enough to get a scholarship at the same prestigious school as Garnold. Holds much pride in this fact and in his own intellect. Can be a bit hammy with this pride.

- He met Vineria as she was one of these delinquent kids. She’s been the only person out of the kids he hung out with that he’s still friends with. Both because of distance and because most of them started to pick on him once he got the scholarship and even more so when he was interested in/ started to date Garnold.

- Was formerly rivals (one sided) with Garnold in high school due to several science fair 2nd place medals, Tried to start a fight with him after another fair but Garnold simply complimented his project and Clukr had to leave because he was incredibly flustered.

- Is alot better at explaining technical things in simpler terms than Garnold, though often laden with profanity as a force of habit.

- Cannot sit still, absolutely feels like he needs to be doing things all the time! Whether tinkering or sprinting around the place. Gotta do something or he gets antsy.

- Would fight things twice his size if Garnold or anyone else didn’t keep him from doing that.

Funbot

3 (programmed to act 13) It/its

- One of the first AI that Garnold and Clukr made. It considers them it’s fathers and they consider it their child. Was specifically built because they didn’t want to deal with pregnancy but wanted a child.

- Clukr sometimes calls it “Funsies”, Garnold calls it “Funnington Funsleburg” and Fun computer calls it “Felix”. All these names are on Funbot’s town document as “Funbot Felix Funsies Funnington Funsleburg Electrum”

- It is made of pieces of Garnold’s prototype suits along with some more silvery metal and a solar panel to power it.

- Is sluggish in the dark but hyperactive in the light.

- Helps out its dads with work and frolicks outside when it isn’t busy with that.

- Likes skateboarding and climbing things with its grippy hands and feet.

- Would love LARPING probably.

- Innocent and naive, would believe someone if they told it that clouds taste like cotton candy.

-Knows what swears are and acts like its the coolest most punk thing ever.

- Can be called from a phone as it has a phone built in. Often takes video calls from its sibling wanting to see outside.

Mr. Fun Computer

3 (Programmed to act 20-ish) She/He/Its

- The second AI made by Garnold and Clukr, was sort of a request as the town needed an easier way to handle its citizen documentation and later it’s technology. Her creation was started the same year as Funbot but finished much later. Thus being considered the litte sister between her and Funbot.

- Calls herself “Felicity” and presents as female, though uses male honorifics and is alright with He/it due to being referred to like that for the first year she was operational.

- Has access to the town’s registry and documents and is connected to a framework that spans the whole town. Though this means she is immobile. Only being able to “visit” certain locations with screens and cameras meant to allow her to see and be seen.

- She also operates the automatic electronics and machines in town.

- Was programmed with a “heart” or more specifically: Empathy, Unconditional love for everyone who is a citizen of town and a feeling of responsibility for them. This was asked for by the Mayor’s assistant out of some fear she could turn on them if something went wrong.

- Wants a mobile sprunki-like body to go outside but thinks it’s too much trouble to ask her fathers so just video calls Funbot to see through their cameras.

- Is incredibly intelligent due to her access to the internet and what her fathers had put in her database. This is also how she picked her and Funbot’s names.

-Loves trivia night and often hosts it when she can.

So even though this is more spring/summer like, I’ve been thinking Bout apartments. There’s a video saying that four stories is the maximum where people can still feel a part of the street as you can still hear the goings on and stuff. And if you have a courtyard inside there’s a space of “oh let’s be a bit more quiet”. So I was thinking that there could be wildflowers, some bushes and trees outside the apartment that people could walk by and grab whatever fruit that’s growing and ripe. While inside the courtyard is a bit more maintained for the folks who have pets and kids who wanna run around. And on the roof there’s solar panels angled for snow and rain to fall off. Perhaps underneath that solar panels the roof has a community garden for the people in the apartments. Probably use rainwater and snowmelt for the apartments, and then use grey water for the plants in the courtyard. Maybe have a bio system for black water treatment? Each apartment has a balcony, and they can have sun shades for the windows that’s in the direct line of the sun in the summer to help with the passive cooling and heating. And underneath there’s a good sturdy basement for things such as tornadoes or just plain ol’ get togethers. Maybe that can be where the community kitchen could be too. I’m also thinking that each doorway is tall enough for someone who’s like 6’5” could comfortably walk through while the doorways, hallways, and walkways are large enough for someone who’s using the world’s biggest wheelchair could confidently do a u-turn in. Some apartments are formatted for wheelchair users while every unit has accessibility features like a seat in the shower you can put up or down or a bathtub you can easily get in and out. And yes the elevator will have braille as well as the signs for each apartment. Maybe the building materials will be hempcrete. Ideally reusable materials from old buildings and the like to give them new life. I’d also like to ensure the building is good against floods, tornadoes, fire, earthquakes, and the like. Pretty sure that’s what everyone wants to do lol.

Just some ideas I’ve been thinking about. Been dreaming on making an Solarpunk apartment building. Made a sketch to kinda get a feel for what I want.
