Sojourn: *signing* You're a loose cannon, Clockwork.
Clockwork: No, I'm not. I'm a cannon maybe, but a loose cannon? Is that what you think of me?
Pandora: I think you play by your own rules.
Vortex: No way, they think rules were made to be broken.
Sojourn: *signing* Those are all attributes of a loose cannon.
Clockwork: No, I'm just a reckless renegade. Pariah is a loose cannon.
Pariah Dark: *smashes a chair*

poll time again!
I'm having an au in head for the past few days. Without saying much about it, it is a sort of college/human AU within the trio (I mean as Sojourn-Clockwork-Pariah Dark) with other elements that I won't spoil to keep secrecy about the plot. The base is similar to my general au regarding them - especially Pariah's being.
Question is, if I decide to write it:
I'm not saying I'd write it immediately if it comes to that, I still have to figure out a tonne of things in that, so for now, it is only for a starting survey.

Danny Phantom Reboot Thing?
So here's the thing
I am kinda making a project thing off of a joke from my sister.
I am now writing out summaries for the next two seasons of Danny Phantom.
I want some plot episodes, some chill ones, etc.
I am putting in a bunch of leftover plot holes from cannon, stuff from fannon and so on. Ghost King, Wesley weston, some more time shenanigans, sojourn lore, etc.
I have 27 episodes ideas/summaries out of my goal of 40
And I need some help with more ideas.
The thing is that I kind of want it to keep the charm/vibe of the original show, so no crossovers really, throw on the tropes, and fun stuff like that. But it can touch some darker topics, just not too graphic, ya know?
This is my brain dump board
This is the formal list, it is not done yet, but it will have everything in the right order, good summaries, and full sentences.
I turned on comments on the docs for whoever wants to help, and please reply or repost with any ideas on here will be much appreciated
Thank you!!

I had been hit with nostalgia for Danny Phantom and inspiration. Phantom Legacy: Sojourn's Path The idea is a future descendant of Danny Fenton vs a long-living Freakshow on a race through the Ghost Zone following Sojourn's journal. Freakshow was given immortality on the condition of locating the Elsewhere, the legendary paradise and the secrets that lie there. Jason is a member of the Fenton family line and is also the weakest in terms of power. They're unsure why Clockwork gave them the mission to find Sojourn's journal but given that it's Clockwork, there's probably a good reason.... Doesn't mean Jason is sure they were the right choice.

And now with the AO3 link!
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Danny Phantom, Ratchet & Clank Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Danny Fenton & The Plumber Characters: Danny Fenton, The Plumber (Ratchet & Clank) Additional Tags: Far Frozen (Danny Phantom), Infi-Map (Danny Phantom), two nerds bonding over Space, repost from tumblr, Prequel, Chance Meetings, Digital Art Series: Part 1 of The one where Danny gets to be a Space Nerd Summary:
The Infinite Realms. They're huge! So huge, in fact, that if you lost your key cars in them, they would be almost impossible to find!
(half-cit. Capt. Qwark, R&C Future: A Crack in Time)
And that's why the Infi-Map is such a handy tool! And who can teach Danny tricks on how to use it best? The alien, the Myth, the Legend!
The Plumber!
Sojourner who? I only know the Plumber
Tumblr media
Since yesterday was "Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart" anniversary, inspiration hit me sideways and prompted me to do this piece!
(I wanted to work on the sequel of "Into the Nexus_Prologue", which, by the way, I'm also trying to do, but this felt easier for my writing block AND also works as a prequel for both the sequel and the aforementioned fic!)
More details under the cut.
For those of the Phandom who didn't play R&C, meet the Plumber!
He's a helpful cryptid NPC that showed up in every game (sans a couple of filler exceptions) since the first one. He usually gives useful items, information for the progress of the plot/side-quest or cryptic one liners that would be resolutive when the time is right!
He's also a repairman, an inventor and claims to have been "everywhere in this universe and beyond", so why couldn't he be visiting the Far Frozen to help the Yeti Tribe with an issue? And coincidentally in the same moment Danny would be visiting?
(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
Right now the Plumber's giving Danny tips on how the InfiMap and the Infinite Realms work, so of course our boi is taking notes! (And if the alien is also talking about space... That's a mere coincidence, isn't it? :) )
Hopefully I'll be able to finally publish the sequel of the R&C x MiB crossover Prologue sooner or later, but before that I'm surely doing something for the Pride Month!
So please stay tuned and hope to type ya soon!

Regarding The Ancients (Part 2)
Tumblr media
I think this screenshot says it all. In the last post I talked about the Ancients in general and there are a lot of great candidates for who they were in the Danny Phantom cast. After all, villains could count among them too because all Skulker said was that “...a group of powerful ancient ghosts banded together in a last ditch effort to defeat the King” which when you think about it doesn’t necessarily mean they were all ‘good’ ghosts. They probably had no choice but to become allies to take down someone who threatened the balance of both worlds...
Part 1: https://thesoulspulse.tumblr.com/post/698786699553177600/regarding-the-ancients-part-1
Still, I like to think of most of them as the good guys so we’ll start with them.
Clockwork is obviously the most logical choice because not only is he already wearing a purple cloak that’s extremely similar to the Ancients in the flashback, but he also has statues of the Grim Reaper, aka Death, all over his tower along with lots of scythes. But it makes sense given how he’s probably old enough to have known Death personally. Bonus points if they were brothers since time and death go hand in hand.
Tumblr media
Sorjourn is another mysterious figure we know very little about but it would make sense for him to be one of the Ancients too, perhaps even their leader. In fact, before they defeated Pariah he probably had to make himself scarce since he didn’t want his vast knowledge of the Ghost Zone to be abused. Especially since he’s the only ghost rumored to have found a path to the Elsewhereness, aka their version of paradise or heaven. My personal headcanon is that he CREATED the Infimap and then entrusted it to Frostbite who we’ll get to in a second.
Tumblr media
Frostbite is definitely up there too just like @ecto-stone pointed out since he’s implied to be old enough to have been around with his tribe during Pariah Dark’s original reign of terror. His cloak may be tattered, but he’s wearing one too which is a good sign in my book.
Tumblr media
Nocturne is definitely another prime candidate and ironically, I wrote in one of my fanfics that he DID help trap Pariah Dark in an eternal but dreamless sleep so he couldn’t plot anything while imprisoned. Obviously he’s not wearing a cloak but since Nocturne is literally shrouded in shadows its pretty much the same thing. I like to think he didn’t used to be all that evil, he just got tired of having to live off of the ‘scraps’ of human dreams and later on decided to take matters into his own hands and put them to sleep by force to harvest a lot more energy at once.
Tumblr media
As much as I like Undergrowth, personally I can’t see him as an Ancient only because from what I can tell he’s been dormant on Earth for a long time and even Frostbite is wary of him when he mentioned him to Danny, implying that he’s never met him but knows how dangerous an enemy he is. I can’t see him working with anyone since his priorities seem to lie with protecting plant life from foolish humans which are mostly found on Earth anyway so I doubt the political affairs of the Ghost Zone back then concerned him much.
That, or as a plot twist maybe he could have been one of Pariah’s allies.
“I have heard tell of this Undergrowth. A powerful ghost he is. Capable of regenerating himself and producing numerous killer offspring. Nearly impossible to defeat.”
~ Frostbite, Danny Phantom Season 3, Urban Jungle.
Tumblr media
In exchange for Undergrowth, I think Pandora is a great fit since she already created Pandora’s Box to contain the greatest evil so wouldn’t it stand to reason she could use her skills to build the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep too? Plus, there’s more skeleton symbolism at the altar her box is kept. Greeks had Sarcophagus’s too, but theirs were literally more like ornate coffins or ironically boxes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then again, the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep looks more Egyptian than Greek. So maybe an unknown Egyptian ghost was one of the Ancients instead?
Tumblr media
The Observants obviously care a lot about maintaining balance but they even say all they can do is watch so I kinda doubt they had an active role in defeating Pariah apart from giving council. Honestly, that’s probably why Clockwork detests them so much because they're all talk while HE and the other Ancients actually did something proactive to stop Pariah.
So anyways, long story short I think Clockwork, Sorjourn, Frostbite, and Nocturne are pretty much locked in as Ancients in my eyes which only leaves the remaining three. Pandora might be one along with an Egyptian spirit like Anubis which I would absolutely love since he’s a god of the dead. I only say A god because I think a lot of different religious figures are real in the world of Danny Phantom and are more likely to be ancient god-like spirits.
Tumblr media
Lastly, to go along with Anubis, it’s possible that Death takes on many different forms so they could be the same entity or entirely separate ones. If it’s the latter, then it makes perfect sense that the classic Grim Reaper would be one of the Ancients.
Tumblr media
And that makes seven.
In the end though, these are just my personal thoughts and there is no right answer since there’s just not enough information to go off of. It’s all pure guess work which is both a blessing and a curse in the phandom. Still, I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts and I’d love to hear more of yours too!
Ah, and before I forget, here’s a bonus idea. I have a personal headcanon that some of Aragon and Dora’s ancestors fought against Pariah and lost, hence why he has skeleton dragons in his army.

Here's a comic explaining the basic premise of Vitriol AU! This blog already has a lot of the main worldbuilding and character refs covered, but having one of the main plotlines of this au helps too. Index is located on the pinned post.

A huge commission I did for the lovely @oceankat8 a while back and never posted! Huge thank you to them for commissioning me, their redesigns of the ancients was incredibly cool to work with! It was a real challenge working with so many characters, but a fun one.
Everyone should go check them out, especially their DP tarot card series 👀

Frostbite: How did none of you hear what I just said?
Nocturn: I’ve been zoned out for the past two and a half hours.
Pariah Dark: I got distracted about halfway through.
Clockwork: Ignoring you was a conscious decision.

Moments in Time #1: A Divine Analogy
Synopsis: Clockwork explains to Danny why no one can simply fly to the Elsewhereness.
About my Moments in Time series.
------
I've always been fascinated by thoughts of how heaven, hell and purgatory fit into the Danny Phantom universe. I'm also fascinated by questions of how the Ghost Zone works physically. Where does it exist in the cosmos? What is the science behind how someone travels from one dimension to the next?
As I was pondering all this one night, I began to imagine what a conversation between Danny and Clockwork would look like if Clockwork were to explain how to get to the Elsewhereness. What kinds of analogies would he use? Thus, this scene was born.
(As an aside, I'm glad Butch Hartman confirmed the existence of the Elsewhereness. I always assumed that heaven was canon to the show, given Hartman is religious, but it's nice to have confirmation. It gives me something concrete to work with.)
I also imagined another conversation between Danny and Clockwork about how the Ghost Zone works in relation to realms like the Earth, the Elsewhereness, the Unworld, and so on. I'll post that one too if I can get the conversation to sound compelling enough. But for now, I'm just thrilled that this one is making its Tumblr debut!
Without further ado...
------
“...So, how come no one except this ‘Sojourn’ guy has been able to find the Elsewhereness?”
Clockwork smirks; Danny gets the odd sense that he is excited to explain this to him. “You know the story of Genesis, yes?”
Danny nods, though a second later, he brings his hand to the back of his neck and rubs it shyly. “Yeah... I mean, I’ve never been religious, but everyone knows the story of Genesis.”
“That is no matter,” says Clockwork, nodding encouragingly. “What is important is that you know.”
He dives into his analogy with hushed gusto. “Imagine that at the beginning of the Earth, there is a doorway in the Garden of Eden that leads directly to heaven. The first humans can use it to travel between Earth and heaven freely, whenever they want to.
“However, on the day of humanity’s fall, God closes the door and decrees that it shall remain closed forever. In fact, he doesn’t just close it; he destroys it. This doorway will never exist ever again, no matter how hard anyone tries to find it or reopen it. It is closed as completely as if it never existed at all.
“Now, you tell me: if someone born after the fall of man wanted to find this doorway, how would they do it? And before you ask: yes, there is a solution.”
Danny’s eyes bug out a little; he didn’t expect Clockwork to subject him to some impossible logic problem. He gets enough of this nonsense in school. His gaze darts this way and that as he rapidly seeks his bearings. “Um... It’s not prayer, is it?”
“No – though that would certainly help.” Clockwork smiles patiently. “The person in question is irreligious.”
If he were in any setting other than here, in Clockwork’s tower, Danny would have floundered on this until his asker took pity on him and gave him the answer. But as his gaze falls onto Clockwork’s timeless form, a surprisingly practical solution comes to him. “Could they... travel back in time?”
Pride brightens Clockwork’s features, and he nods. Danny is instantly sure that Clockwork already knew he would provide the right answer, so the fact that he was overcome with such pride anyway leaves Danny feeling surprisingly moved.
“Yes!” he exclaims. “No matter how fervently they may try, no human would ever find the doorway to heaven because they can only move forward, further and further from the day it was closed. But if they were to move backward, they would eventually arrive at a time when the doorway is perfectly usable.
“But there’s still a problem with this, isn’t there?” Clockwork beat him to it; Danny was already beginning to shift uncomfortably. “Humans can’t go back in time. So how would they get there?” A sparkle is in his eye as their gazes meet. “How would you get there?”
I would ask you to take me. Danny’s discomfort comes to a head. “You’re not about to tell me you single-handedly take the dead to the Elsewhereness, are you?”
A small, fond chuckle escapes Clockwork, and Danny’s discomfort is relieved. “Ah... If only it were that simple. No, I do not know the way to the Elsewhereness, but you have the right of it – the only way someone can get there is if one of its residents leads them there. Only they know the way. The rest of us are so blind that even if we were to find the path, we would wander off it immediately and not realize our mistake.”
The rest of the tension leaves Danny, making him once again a curious young charge in his mentor’s tower. “But do they actually have to go back in time?”
Clockwork smirks. “I don’t know, but I don’t think so. That is merely an analogy.”
Danny falls silent for a moment as he considers all this. He’d like to know what the path is really like, but something tells him his mind would explode if he tried to make sense of it. Besides, Clockwork appears to be just as stuck on this side of “Elsewhere” as he is. So instead, he asks, “Do you think Sojourn was just a resident of the Elsewhereness this whole time?”
Clockwork leans back, tapping his chin. For the first time, Danny feels like this is a question they’re working out together. “No – or, at least, probably not. Scarce have I gotten wind of what is contained within his writings, but what little I do know seems to suggest that he was no different from us. Just a normal ghost who persevered until the cosmos itself could no longer deny him.”
It’s Danny’s turn to chuckle. “Well, I’m hardly a ‘normal ghost,’ but I get your point.”
------
Clockwork loves making time-related analogies. 😝
Thank you so much for being part of the first Danny Phantom fanfic I've ever posted to Tumblr!

Summary:
“I’m getting blind to my left eye,” they said instead of waiting for the two other being to underpin the evident state that neither of their friends could have dared to speak aloud.
Sojourn glanced at them miserably. They did not want pity.
“It would have happened eventually anyway,” Clockwork whispered acceptably, eying the staff thoughtfully in their hand and following as the moving of the second hand blurred out to them in the clock-ornament at the top. “The Time for it just came sooner than I would have expected it. I thought it would last—”  —longer, they bit down the note, keeping that remark to themselves and instead murmured under their nose. “Never mind. It’s alright. I can deal with it.”
Clockwork didn’t have to lift their head to see the worried exchange of looks between the two other ghosts. But hardly it could be understood that the situation was more complicated than it seemed — and that they wouldn’t need assistance. They knew what they had to do. It wouldn’t be easy, but they would be capable of handling and fixing it on their own — as they had done the last time.
