Sojourn: *signing* You're a loose cannon, Clockwork.
Clockwork: No, I'm not. I'm a cannon maybe, but a loose cannon? Is that what you think of me?
Pandora: I think you play by your own rules.
Vortex: No way, they think rules were made to be broken.
Sojourn: *signing* Those are all attributes of a loose cannon.
Clockwork: No, I'm just a reckless renegade. Pariah is a loose cannon.
Pariah Dark: *smashes a chair*

poll time again!
I'm having an au in head for the past few days. Without saying much about it, it is a sort of college/human AU within the trio (I mean as Sojourn-Clockwork-Pariah Dark) with other elements that I won't spoil to keep secrecy about the plot. The base is similar to my general au regarding them - especially Pariah's being.
Question is, if I decide to write it:
I'm not saying I'd write it immediately if it comes to that, I still have to figure out a tonne of things in that, so for now, it is only for a starting survey.

〓Update Details〓
I. New Areas
New Areas Now Available
◇ New Areas: In Version 5.5, the following areas in Natlan will become available: Atocpan and Ancient Sacred Mountain.
※ As long as you have completed Archon Quest Prologue: Act III "Song of the Dragon and Freedom," a Teleport Waypoint will be automatically unlocked near Atocpan in the southwest of Natlan's Stadium of the Sacred Flame. (If you have already completed this Archon Quest, the Teleport Waypoint will be unlocked after the update). You'll also receive the Primogem reward for this Teleport Waypoint when it unlocks automatically.
◇ Natlan Reputation System Update: With the opening of new areas, the Natlan Reputation System now includes Tribe Reputation for the Collective of Plenty.
◆ Unlock Criteria:
• Complete "Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame" in Archon Quest Chapter V: Act I "Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn"
In addition, there will be new Fishing Points and "Radiant Spincrystals" in Natlan.
II. New Characters
5-Star Character "Strength in Serenity" Varesa (Electro)
◇ Vision: Electro
◇ Weapon: Catalyst
◇ A laid-back orchard manager and warrior of the Collective of Plenty. An aspiring hero who hungers for justice... and lots and lots of food!
◆ Varesa is a DPS character who specializes in Plunging Attacks and possesses high-speed movement.
By tapping her Elemental Skill, Varesa can quickly cycle through her Elemental Skill, Charged Attacks, and Plunging Attacks, making for an exciting battle. By holding her Elemental Skill, Varesa enters a high-speed movement mode, allowing her to explore the open world with ease.
Varesa enters the Fiery Passion state, which enhances all her skills and increases her DMG. Under certain conditions, she can ignore her skill CD and trigger her special Elemental Burst once while consuming less Energy, providing her with a significant advantage in combat.
4-Star Character "Tempered in Molten Stone" Iansan (Electro)
◇ Vision: Electro
◇ Weapon: Polearm
◇ Head coach of the fitness club at the Collective of Plenty, and a renowned Natlanese nutritionist.
◆ Iansan is an Electro support character who provides various buffs for on-field characters.
After using her Elemental Skill, she will enter the Nightsoul's Blessing state, greatly increasing her movement SPD. Performing Special Charged Attacks will grant her buff effects.
Her Elemental Burst provides an ATK Bonus to the active character. During this time, the active character's movement will restore Nightsoul points for Iansan, providing additional bonuses.
Additionally, under specific conditions, Iansan's Passive Talent can also restore HP for the active character.
III. New Domain
Domain of Blessing: Derelict Masonry Dock
◇ An environment incomprehensible to the inhabitants of today's lands, one where ash-gray mechanisms driven by golden runes replaced the toil of flesh, effortlessly bringing brilliance and imagination to life above pools of flame. After this era was ended by tyrannical outsiders, the once-powerful race stagnated in their submission. Now, the only visitors left to this place are mourners of a bygone era.
◇ Unlock Criteria (satisfy any one of the criteria below to unlock):
• Reach Adventure Rank 10 or above
• Complete Archon Quest Prologue: Act III "Song of the Dragon and Freedom"
◆ Challenge the Domain to obtain artifacts in the "Long Night's Oath" and "Finale of the Deep Galleries" sets.
IV. New Equipment
1. New Weapon (Examples based on Refinement Rank 1)
Vivid Notions (5-Star Catalyst)
ATK is increased by 28%. When you use a Plunging Attack, you will gain the "Dawn's First Hue" effect: Plunging Attack CRIT DMG is increased by 28%. When you use an Elemental Skill or Burst, you will gain the "Twilight's Splendor" effect: Plunging Attack CRIT DMG is increased by 40%. The two effects above each last for 15s, and will be canceled 0.1s after the ground impact deals DMG.
◆ The event-exclusive 5-star weapon "Vivid Notions" (Catalyst) can be obtained from the Event Wish. Please refer to the relevant official Event Notices for specific acquisition details.
2. New Artifact Sets
Long Night's Oath (4-Star and 5-Star)
◇ 2-Piece Set: Increases Plunging Attack DMG by 25%.
◇ 4-Piece Set: After the equipping character's Plunging Attack/Charged Attack/Elemental Skill hits an opponent, they will gain 1/2/2 stack(s) of "Radiance Everlasting." Plunging Attacks, Charged Attacks, or Elemental Skills can each trigger this effect once every 1s. Radiance Everlasting: Plunging Attacks deal 15% increased DMG for 6s. Max 5 stacks. Each stack's duration is counted independently.
Finale of the Deep Galleries (4-Star and 5-Star)
◇ 2-Piece Set: Cryo DMG Bonus +15%.
◇ 4-Piece Set: When the equipping character has 0 Elemental Energy, Normal Attack DMG is increased by 60% and Elemental Burst DMG is increased by 60%. After the equipping character deals Normal Attack DMG, the aforementioned Elemental Burst effect will stop applying for 6s. After the equipping character deals Elemental Burst DMG, the aforementioned Normal Attack effect will stop applying for 6s. This effect can trigger even if the equipping character is off the field.
Obtain the following artifact sets from Derelict Masonry Dock, the new Domain of Blessing in Natlan: "Long Night's Oath" and "Finale of the Deep Galleries."
V. New Main Story
1. New Tribal Chronicles
Mushroom Realm Mystery
Act I – Act III of "Mushroom Realm Mystery" will be permanently available after the Version 5.5 update
◆ Act I and Act II Quest Unlock Criteria:
• Reach Adventure Rank 28 or above
• Complete "Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame" in Archon Quest Chapter V: Act I "Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn"
◆ Act III Quest Unlock Criteria:
• Reach Adventure Rank 28 or above
• Complete Archon Quest Chapter V: Act V "Incandescent Ode of Resurrection"
• The "Focused Experience Mode" function is available for this quest.
The three acts must be experienced in sequence. You can only unlock the next act after completing the previous one and meeting the corresponding unlock criteria.
You can use the "Quick Start" function to accept Archon Quest Chapter V: Act I "Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn." After completing Archon Quest Chapter V: Act I, you can continue to accept and complete the subsequent Acts of Chapter V until you unlock the latest Tribal Chronicles introduced in the current version update.
Additionally, after Version 5.5 update until 2025/04/15 17:59, the "Quick Start" function will be available for Tribal Chronicles "Mushroom Realm Mystery": Act III. If you have completed Act II but don't meet the unlock criteria to start Act III, you can use the "Quick Start" function to unlock Act III in the "Events Overview" interface.
*Tribal Chronicles "Mushroom Realm Mystery": Act III takes place after Archon Quest Chapter V: Act V "Incandescent Ode of Resurrection." Regardless of the order in which you complete the quests, the Pilgrim's Chronicle will only record the content related to the Tribal Chronicles "Mushroom Realm Mystery" after both Tribal Chronicles "Mushroom Realm Mystery": Act III and Archon Quest Chapter V: Act V "Incandescent Ode of Resurrection" are completed.
2. New World Quests
New World Quests
Path to the Flaming Peaks Quest Chain, "Chronicler of the Crumbling City" Quest Chain, "A Finale Emberforged" Quest Chain, "Is 'Intensity' Really the Key," "Sing, Ho, For the Greatness of Fat!," and "Someday, We All Must Walk Alone," etc.
A Finale Emberforged Quest Chain Unlock Criteria: Complete the "Between Pledge and Forgettance" Quest Chain and "Lost Traveler in the Ashen Realm" Quest Chain, as well as obtain two Golden Entreaties.
VI. New Enemies
Lava Dragon Statue
◇ A creature with two forms that is capable of continuously generating heat.
When in its "Geohuman" form, you can use Pyro attacks to cause it to enter its "Molten Dragon" form. At this point, if you continue to use Pyro attacks, it will enter an Overburn state... However, if you manage to cool it down, it will revert back to its "Geohuman" form...
Located in Atocpan.
Furnace Shell Mountain Weasel
◇ A unique ancient species of mountain beast that has long lived in the Sacred Mountain Ruins and has formed an interdependent relationship with the Source Mechanism.
During battle, the Furnace Shell Mountain Weasel will burrow underground and activate its "Secret Source Core" to periodically attack surrounding enemies. At this time, dealing enough damage to the "Secret Source Core" will force it to emerge from underground. However, since it is hiding underground, using a Plunging Attack might prove more effective...
Wayob Manifestation
Thundering Wayob Manifestation
◇ The Wayob worshipped by the various tribes of Natlan manifest themselves in the form of these obsidian totems.
In battle, the Wayob Manifestation will deploy its Arena: Moment of Trial, creating a shield for itself and absorbing the Elemental Energy of all characters in the Arena. Characters in the Arena deal greatly increased DMG. If the shield is broken before the Arena expires, they will also regain a large amount of Energy. However, if they fail to break the Shield, the Manifestation will generate an Elemental Ward based on the value of the remaining Shield.
Natlan Saurians
Tatankasaurus and Tatankasaur Whelp
◇ The Saurians that inhabit the land of Natlan.
Special dragons that were better able to adapt to their environments, taking on different shapes and forms based on their surroundings.
Sauroform Tribal Warriors
Ferocious Warrior: Human Ram, Ferocious Warrior: Wrestler, Ferocious Warrior: Grappler, Tatankasaurus Warrior: Skybreaker, and Tatankasaurus Warrior: Spiritlight Chaser
◇ The warriors of Natlan's great tribes who fight for the honor and glory of their people.
Over long years of living and fighting alongside their Saurian companions, these tribal warriors have gradually acquired their traits and learned how to apply them on the field of battle.

How they play overwatch
Note: I do not recommend playing overwatch!! I have a terrible affliction where it came out when I was in highschool and we formed a toxic bond
Gaz: his best character is likely a very baseline DPS like Soldier 76 or Sojourn, but he’s damned good at target priority. If you are an enemy healer say goodnight lmao. He will try to role fill, like a decent person, but he is a weaker tank and healer than DPS.
Soap: plays DPS because he likes killing people (aka he has the “numbers go up” addiction). Will only role fill if you BEG but will be decent in any role. Best at playing characters with annoying movement abilities like tracer, echo, and genji.
Ghost: He’s going to play his 3 character roster and you’re going to like it. Hope you like reaper, sombra, and Moira because that’s what you’re getting
Price: he is a role filler before he is anything else, but usually lands in tank. Likes being versatile, frontlines, the rock that keeps it all going. And sheltering healers because he has a savior complex.
König: born to play widowmaker, cursed to play tanks.
Nikolai: plays an EXTREMELY offensive healer. Ana, zenyatta, mercy with the stupid little pistol out. Nothing gives him greater pleasure than humiliating people with the mercy pistol kill.

i pick widowmaker and im genuinely not even here rn. no emotional investment no effort expended i am sitting here and clicking on heads. if the payload moves it moves. and im like afairly involved widow as far as i can tell.
genuinely she has the best tilt:hype ratio ever because i hit a good shot and im on top of the world and i spend 10 minutes getting the shit kicked out of me bevause their whole team hates me for one (1) headshot and i go ehhhhh thats tha game baby
dps is an awesome role because ypu truly have no control over anything but also if you dont do anything nothing gets done. simultaneously the highest snd lowest impact role in the game

it's a little evil of me to get an ask about what the undersiders would play in overwatch and immediately start thinking about the lambs instead but the problem is that the lambs are just so much better to imagine playing video games together than the undersiders. the lambs are by nature of their existence a Gestalt, a Team, meant to go into combat together. the undersiders are like. coworkers who happen to work at a job called Crime, and who could play video games together, but don't really, because they're not super compatible like that. you just get so much funnier dynamics by popping the lambs into video games.
anyway that said the last time i thought about the lambs in overwatch was when i hadn't really played it since 6v6, because i was being a hater. i still think the game used to be better but now that i have played ow2 significantly ive had a series of 3 updated realizations. they are called
sylvester lambsbridge is perfectly built to be one of those overwatch coaches that coaches teams at an incredibly high/professional level, but is significantly lower rank when they actually play the game themselves. with most coaches it's, like, they coach at the professional level, but they're only (a respectable) diamond when they play themselves. sy would be Embarrassingly low sr when he actually played though. he would perfectly simulate 500 different game outcomes in his mind to coach the lambs thru a tourney sweep but his own personal rank is, like, mid-silver. because his mechanics and reaction time in-game are just Dog Shit he gets overwhelmed So Easily and he cant do Anything. and it's so embarrassing for him that he pretends he hasnt played comp in years and cant remember his rank anymore "but it was probably masters" if anyone ever asks.
2. out of the ow2 heroes jessie would definitely be one of those sojourn players that just insufferably dominates a lobby. i already said that she would be a high-ranked hitscan dps player & i picked mccree/cassidy as her main before, but sojourn might even be a little better for her, bc shes got the classic gunslinger 'just shoot things with precise accuracy at mid to long range until everyone is dead' playstyle, And shes got a zoning ability that i think would appeal to jessies intellect.
3. this lead me into the train of thought that. sy would probably ask/beg/bribe jessie to play with him to carry him into a more respectable rank than silver. and you know whats a crazy popular duo right now? sojourn/mercy. like, you know those horribly heterosexual duos that are higher-ranked dps player man + mercy player girlfriend who is kind of overwhelmed about being here and is going to spend the entire match Only healing/rezzing/boosting her boyfriend? folks i think this could be sy and jessie but jessie is the dps and sy is her mercy pocket. like it's just so real. you dont have to aim mercys staff for it to work. she can go an entire match without fighting anyone. her job is to avoid enemy sightlines and hold down rmb on a dps player. i KNOW sy is pissing everyone else in a match off infernally badly by only helping his girlfriend even when his girlfriend is actively telling him to stop doing that over group voice chat. "ill rez you" "no sy rez zarya she has ult" "oops i died ." "...it's okay, sy." jessies username is probably literally just Jessie. sy's username is some dumb shit like "WYVERN" in all fancy font. hes probably using the green dragon mercy skin. jessie is having to play protect the president to keep his dumb ass alive. i know this is real. and the beautiful thing is that when jamie is alive he would be the biased pocket mercy to sy's shitty genji. so it rhymes. now that jessie is here sy will be the biased pocket mercy to her non-shitty sojourn.

Halloween Costumes: DPS Girls Headcanons (SFW) As Halloween approaches, I'll be writing more about it with the ovw characters. So, this post is about what the DPS girls would want to dress up as for Halloween (if they did at least). It's under the cut, enjoy!
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Caledonia / Ashe: I can honestly imagine she likes to dress up, but not for the reason of trick or treating. For her, she likes to use Halloween as an excuse to dress up in a disguise on a robbery with her gang. So, some of her favourites in the past were of a saloon girl (she hated the dress but it worked well for seducing her way into the bank she planned to rob from) and as poison ivy from dc (she used it as a way to blend into the crowd of a Halloween carnival, making it perfect to escape from the police).
Mei Ling Zhou: Mei always likes to use Halloween as a bonding experience, enjoying co-ordinating her outfits with close friends and work colleagues such as Lena and Brigitte. So, some of her favourites were as a pirate (Lena was a parrot, with Brigitte as a wench) and as Velma from scooby doo (Brigitte was Scooby and Lena was Scrappy-doo, with other members taking the other main characters).
Fareeha Amari / Pharah: Fareeha used to despise Halloween as a child because she used to see families together, dressing up and taking their kids out to trick or treat, when she couldn't have the same experience. But, she's grown more light-hearted about it, especially dressing up for themed parties such as ‘hear me out’ costumes (dress up as your biggest hear me out character), and ‘sexual awakening’ costumes (dress up as your sexual awakening character). She doesn't have a favourite, but loves costumes that aren't serious and look poorly made, just because of how much more humorous they are to her.
Vivian Chase / Sojourn: You can't tell me that Vivian doesn't do trick or treating with her sister and niece every year - you know fine and well that Vivian's letting her niece pick the group costume each year, and following along with her ideas to make sure that she has the most enjoyable year possible. Vivian loves to let her take control and holds back her distaste for the costumes she picks, purely because she loves the family time she can have with them more so than the dressing up part. Her favourite group costumes that she's done, though, are Alice in Wonderland (Vivian and her sister were the card guards, with her niece being the Queen of Hearts), Cat in the Hat (Vivian and her sister were thing 1 and thing 2, with her niece being the cat), and Little Red Riding Hood (her niece was the grandma, her sister was little red, and she was the wolf). All in all, though, any Halloween costume will be her favourite if she knows her family had fun.
Olivia Colomar / Sombra: Honestly, I can't imagine Olivia's really been able to enjoy Halloween in her life, and doesn't have much interest in it in general. However, she does like to do group costumes with Amelie and Moira when going to clubs or bars, but only silly ones (similar to Fareeha). She'd definitely love to dress up as final girls from horror movies, animated movie characters (i.e. shrek, megamind, etc). If she can find humour in it, she loves it especially with her friends.
Amelie Lacroix / Widowmaker: Amelie used to do couples costumes with Gerald, finding it a genuinely fun time with him. So, now that he's passed away and gone from her life, it took her a while to warm up to the idea of dressing up again for Halloween. With the help of Moira and Olivia, she's found herself warming up to it but doesn't have specific preferences. She likes ones that are more clever than funny, though, but will go with what her friends would like to do (to an extent - if she hates an idea, she'll tell them of course). All in all, she can be picky but has good intentions, wanting to make sure that she and her friends are enjoying themselves wherever the night finds them. She doesn't have any pictures of her favourite costumes, though, because she'd rather keep them in place in her mind.
Lena Oxton / Tracer: Lena will always do costumes with her friends and take their family members with her trick or treating - Halloween is one of her favourite holidays in my opinion, and she loves to go all out for it. For example, with Brigitte and her family, she'll often accompany them and show just as much enthusiasm as the little sisters and brothers have for the events that night. Her favourite costumes are simple ones, ones she can wear and have fun with her friends in - whether that's cheap, silly or serious ones, she's happy and enjoying herself.

Since I’ve been playing Overwatch with friends for a while now, I’ve also been thinking which characters would the Touden Siblings party would like! So here they are!
Tumblr media
LAIOS TOUDEN
Laios most definitely plays tank and only tank. He plays the interesting looking characters like Orisa, Ramattra, Wrecking ball, or Winston, and he definitely loves playing as Winston. I have this small feeling that he is part of Top 500 Tank just because of how much he loves playing Winston.
FALIN TOUDEN
Falin plays and most often pockets Laios. Does her best to heal everyone but mostly her priority is her brother. She mostly plays as Mercy and Lifeweaver but also plays as Kiriko. She does play as DPS and I feel like she plays as Soldier 76 and Mei for their abilities such as soldier’s biotic field and Mei’s Cryo-freeze + Blizzard
MARCILLE DONATO
Marcille switches between healer and DPS but she rarely prioritizes on healing. She is what we call in the business, DPS Moira/Ana. With that said, she plays as Moira, Ana and Illari when she is a support/healer character. As a DPS, she plays as Ashe, Reaper, Pharah and Echo. Their abilities usually have that kill all whenever available when used right and Marcille really knows how to use them right.
CHILCHUCK TIMS
Chilchuck, my dearest boy, my dearest loveliest boy definitely plays those annoying toxic characters and plays them well. Often times argues with other teammates or the enemy team whenever they talk shit about him.
He plays mainly as Sombra and Tracer but also likes to play as Sojourn, Reaper and Venture. When he gets bored, he plays as a support character but only as the new one which is Juno (insta locks it) but when someone else has Juno, he plays as Ana or Zenyatta. He likes that he doesn’t need to be near when he needs to hit someone as Zenyatta. Loves throwing the discord ball on the tank and support of the enemy.
SENSHI OF IZGANDA
Senshi switches between tank and DPS. He plays as Doomfist, Reninhardt, Mauga as a tank. Loves to play as Reinhardt because of the axe and the shield it offers where as he plays as Venture as DPS and Reaper (No, the author does not like Reaper but I like to think that he is the easiest character to learn as and every single one of them went sure, let’s play as this racist guy).
I believe that they all work well together as a team, Chilchuck and Marcille are the ones who talk back to the enemies when they start to trash talk them, Chilchuck is always the first one to bite back and when the enemy team gangs up on Chil, Marcille joins in with long messages that no one in the enemy team reads but often times it’s one of the ways for them to shut up. Senshi is the one who stays quiet and gets the most kills when they get trash talked though, along with Laios.

every day i wake up and beg on my hands and knees for skill-based ranking in comp, AND EVERY DAY I WAKE UP DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i feel like using win/lose ratio to rank people in comp is really smart in theory, obviously if you do good, communicate with your team lalala, team-work makes the dream-work, whatever!!!! you're going to win games. but in some cases that really does nottttt work!!!!
one, people use the "i carried my team and we still lost!!" excuse SO often and using skill-based ranking instead could get rid of a lot of that!! not necessarily ALL of it, but i don't think we'd hear as much of it, since you wouldn't be de-ranking because of your team, you'd be de-ranking because of your own stats. TWOOO!! the player base, especially people who avoid comp simply because of the rank system (MEEE!!), have always complained about the win/lose system, and about 80% of the people you ask will agree that skill-based ranks would be a lot better than just win/lose. i believe skill-based would be ASTRONOMICALLY better than what we have now. not only to appease the people who actually play, but for future comp events!!! aka drives and/or stadium (just came out, so obviously i might be biased on this...) with drives, a lot of people play comp simply for the name tags, treating it like qp, lalalala... it causes a lot of people to de-rank, and it's a nightmare for people who regularly play comp !! obviously, there's easier ways to mend that issue, but it's a vaguely rank related problem... so it's staying. obviously if they did switch to skill-based instead of win/lose, it would take a lot of trial and error with the new ranks and whatnot (and a lot of work for the small indie company.. which is my guess on why we don't already have skill ranks) and it would be wonky with some characters, and win/lose might genuinely need to be a contributing factor to some characters, but i don't think it should be that way for everyone. for exampleeee, a consistently 30+ elim sojourn who only dies a handful of times, but is de-ranking because of the tank maybe, or a dps pushing too far up over and over, or supports getting jumped in the backline!! why should they de-rank just because of the teams' stats and not their own?? different scenario, a soldier76 who's only just started playing comp. and is now in plat because of their tank and other dps/supports popping off enough for that soldier to sit back!! let's say 10ish elims per game, handful of deaths, but getting back-to-back wins because of their teammates ! again, why should they rank up because of the teams' stats? for certain characters, mercy for example, stats aren't always going to determine what rank you should be! often for mercy players it's movement and game sense that really make or break the character!! but that can't show through stats. for mercy (and probably supports alike, knowing some people don't like to dps-support like others do) it would be heavily dependent on beam ratio, number of deaths, resurrects, and if there was a way to rank for movement, i imagine that would be a contributing factor as well!!
i hope this made any sort of sense, and forgive me if any of the info is wrong / grammar mistakes.. i wrote this as my melatonin was kicking in. </3
