New chapter incoming!!
Sea Of Hope Chapter 8
Previous Next SOH Master Grandmaster
This masterful piece of art was done by @aoi-kanna as a commission. They are truly talented and I appreciate all the hard work they put into making this for me. Go check them out, they are absolutely wonderful!!!
Story below or AO3 above.
~~~
While Axe checked you over, Edge grabbed Red by the back of the neck and stormed down the main hatch, loudly yelling at the rest of the crew to mind their own business as they scurried out of his way. For the most part, Red's protests went unheard as he was dragged down the steep steps. Blue, on the other hand, had hesitantly approached Papyrus, whispering something before they too turned and headed past the hatch, disappearing through a pair of doors into the upper levels of the ship.
The clearing of a throat had you tensing and pressing closer to Axe. Black had once again gotten closer than you were comfortable with, standing only a couple paces away. “AS HEARTWARMING AS THIS IS, IT IS QUICKLY BECOMING LATE AND THE LADY STILL NEEDS ADEQUATE DRESS. MY BROTHER’S COAT IS HARDLY A FITTING SUBSTITUTE.”
Rus chuckled beside him. However, when he made to comment, a look from Black had him looking down instead.
Axe narrowed his sockets. “Don’t know where you’re planning on get’n somethin. Ain’t exactly swimmin in extras and you’ve refused to mend mine so I could give it to her.”
Black scoffed. “YOU FAILED TO MENTION IT WAS FOR YOUR MARKED. YOU HAVE ALSO YET TO COMPLETE THE TASK I ASKED OF YOU. I DID NOT SEE THE POINT IN TURNING IN YOUR FAVOR WHEN MY OWN HAD BEEN UNMET.”
“Been busy.”
“AS WE’VE ALL.”
Something shifted in the air, both of their eyelights brightening. Rus glared, moving closer to his brother. It took Crooks placing a hand on Axe’s shoulder for the two to back down.
“Petty bastard.”
“WHEN IT SUITS ME.” With a flourish of a hand and a half step back, he indicated the direction of the doors, continuing to meet Axe’s gaze. “NOW, I BELIEVE WE SHOULD ATTEMPT TO FIND SOMETHING MORE SUITABLE UNTIL NEXT WE MAKE PORT. SURELY YOU CAN AGREE IT WOULD BE IN EVERYONE’S BEST INTEREST.”
“Fine, but we’re not leadin’.” You could hear the creak of Axe’s teeth.
“OF COURSE.” With a tight turn, Black nodded, marching forward with Rus trailing behind with a wink. "AS YOU WISH."
Axe refused to move at first, tugging his empty socket and prompting a sighing Crooks to nudge you both. "I Know You Don’t Like Him, But He Is Fair.”
“Bastard never does anything fer free.”
“And Yet, He Has A Point.”
Neither you nor Axe was reassured but allowed him to guide you forward regardless. Crewmen brave enough to linger eyed your group with various degrees of emotion. When a dog monster growled, another was quick to slap the back of their head, nervously hunching at a glare from both of your skeleton friends. You tried not to show your fear or your growing limp as you passed, hoping Rus' long coat hid what you couldn’t. It didn't seem like a good idea to show weakness around others. The watchful eyes and aggressive postures spoke volumes to your already heightened nerves. Entering the ship did nothing to ease your discomfort.
It felt cramped and pressing despite having more than enough space and light. Unlike the previous ship, several lanterns lit the expanse leaving no ominous shadows or darkened areas. You could easily see all the doors lining the walls as well as the beautifully carved and decorated windowed doors marking the end of the hall. Rus waited near the last door on the left.
It was calm and warm, but you couldn’t shake off the feelings of danger.
“Ya c’n go inside Darlin. Milord’s wait’n.” Rus stood to the side, motioning you inside the now open door.
You looked to your companions. While Axe kept his eyelight on Rus, Crooks’ soft smile and nod gave you enough of a boost to cautiously cross the threshold. It smelled of lavender tinted with something you couldn’t quite place, the overall size relatively small. What looked like a narrow modified canopy bed connected to the wall was on your right. In front of you, under a single window, was a rather lovely desk intricately carved with polished knobs. To your immediate left was an open decorative chest shoved in the corner. Everything was of exquisite taste and quality, from the bedding and carvings on the furniture to the upholstery on the chair at the desk. The few trinkets left out were of fine gold or silver with glistening jewels.
You jumped when the door closed behind you. Axe nor Crooks had made it inside. It had your stomach rolling with nerves. You did not anticipate having the others closed out. Having Black now between you and the only exit made it worse. His eyelights were too bright.
Didn’t Rus call him a lord...?
Your chest tightened at his approach, making sure to lower your gaze.
“TRUE TO MY WORD, THAT HORROR’S GARMENT HAS BEEN MENDED. HAD I KNOWN IT WAS FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS, I NEVER WOULD HAVE HELD ONTO IT.” In his hands was a large linen shirt, neatly folded and dark in color. Holding it out, he offered it to you. “PUT IT ON. I WILL ADJUST IT AS NEEDED AFTER.”
You froze, intently focusing on the simple article of cloth. Was he expecting you to do it here and now? In front of him? Wasn’t it bad enough you were laid bare in front of all those on the deck, or stars, when you pressed yourself against Blue? At least Axe had good reason to see you. Multiple! To willingly undress now in the presence of a man other than your husband...
By the angel, what would Axe think of all this?
Black must have noticed your silent panicked uncertainty when you didn’t immediately take it. Clearing his throat, something in his tone changed. “I SHALL, OF COURSE, REFRAIN FROM LOOKING WHILE YOU DO SO. YOU MAY LEAVE MY BROTHER’S COAT ON THE CHAIR WHEN YOU ARE READY.”
It was hard not to squirm. While that was greatly appreciated, it still felt uncomfortable. Could you trust his word? You hardly knew the man. Perhaps things may have felt different if the room wasn’t quite so stifling or the door hadn’t been shut so suddenly.
Luckily, heavy thumps in the hall distracted Black enough for him to hand you the garment himself, squinting at the door behind him. He was just about to speak again when another set of thumps sounded, this time shaking the door. Growling, he finally turned when the muffled voices following the noise got angrier.
You really didn’t want to do this right now. Not here. Not with all the uncertainties surrounding you.
Taking a slow breath in, you let it out. The sooner you changed, the sooner you could be rid of these unsettling feelings. With unsteady fingers twitching against the fabric as you took one last glance at Black’s back.
One more breath.
The sound of your rattling bones was louder without the security of the coat. Placing it on the chair, you did your best to quickly dress.
The feeling of fabric against your bones was surprisingly comforting as you pulled it over your head. True to Axe’s size, the shirt almost went to your knees. It was so large the fabric pooled on your much smaller frame and reminded you of the nightgowns you used to wear back at the manor.
If only it wasn’t so short.
Though your more private areas were covered, it was not good for a lady to show so much… leg. You tugged at the hem, the sleeves threatening to engulf your hands.
“I’m dressed, my lord.”
A calculated breath was your only answer before his eyelights found you, fuzzy with a slight warble. You had to second guess if you had seen them correctly, for the next moment they were back to their bright and sharp orbs. Getting closer, they traveled over you as he hummed, the heel of his boots clicking as he circled. If you had hair, it would have stood on end at the subtle brush of his hand against your back.
“AS I EXPECTED.”
You startled, yelping when he came around to lightly grip your hips. Instinctively, your hands came to your chest from the forwardness, sockets wide. He paid no mind, eyelights intent on the bunched fabric. He only let go to pull a satin rope from his pocket.
You squeaked again when he reached around you to wrap it around your waist.
“MUCH BETTER. HOWEVER," His gloved hands touched your elbows, slowly moving up your arms to grasp your hands for inspection. “YOUR MAGIC. IT IS MUCH TOO THIN…” He turned them over. “Hmmmmm. Knowing Him…”
Your chest clenched. He was close enough you could feel his ambient heat and wisps of breath.
Before Black could say or do anything else, his door nearly burst off its hinges, a very aggravated Axe forcing it open. Black pulled you into him with a snarl, eyelights vanishing with the click of his teeth. Stuck in a headlock was a disgruntled Rus, resigned to the hold around his neck.
You didn’t know if you could physically handle any more stress.
“BY THE ANGEL, YOU WILL REPLACE THAT LOCK IF YOU HAVE BROKEN IT!”
Axe’s voice was low, grin tight as he took in the scene. “Don’t appreciate the closed door, Black. Hell ya think yer doin’ in here?”
Black placed you behind him, grumbling a growl. “AS I STATED EARLIER, I HAVE GIVEN HER SOMETHING TO ADEQUATELY COVER HERSELF UNTIL WE CAN PROCURE SOMETHING MORE FITTING.”
Axe narrowed his sockets at Black’s squared shoulders. For a split second, you could see the red orb of his eyelight flick over the man in front of you before it focused on you.
“Sure that's all ya were doin’?”
The fabric of Black’s gloves creaked. “IF YOU MUST KNOW, I WAS INSPECTING HER MAGIC FLOW. I’M NO EXPERT, BUT EVEN I CAN TELL IT’S RUNNING LOW. A MORE IMPORTANT QUESTION WOULD BE, WHY HAVEN’T YOU—”
“I’ve been doin’ exactly what I need ta be. Don’t need ta explain myself either.” Rus stumbled into the room when Axe unceremoniously released him to motion to you. “Now, if yer done?”
With a snarl, Black pointed a finger. “NOW SEE HERE YOU–”
Instinctually, you reached out, stopping just before Black’s arm. “My lord, I!” You faltered at his abrupt attention, pulling back to dip your head in respect. “I thank you for your kindness, but I should return to my lord husband before any more misunderstandings occur.”
His eyelights stuttered. “I, I BEG YOUR PARDON?”
There was a beat of awkward silence before Axe broke into heavy laughter, the loudest and deepest you’ve heard from him. It was enough to warm your cheeks as he beckoned you out and away from the room. Black gaped, slack-jawed and sputtering as you passed. You were already being guided onto the deck by the time he was able to call out one last time from his doorway.
“AXE! YOU WILL… THAT… YOU WILL EXPLAIN YOURSELF!”
Axe only laughed harder, closing the doors behind you.
The sun had mostly set by the time you stepped out into the humid sea air. You would have done anything in the past to be able to look up, out, and around but Axe was swift in guiding you down the main hatch. You didn’t want to linger longer than necessary anyway.
You didn’t have Rus’s coat to hide under.
You were grateful for the darkness once you were under. The lanterns were farther spread, some empty of light altogether. It helped ease your mind against the wandering eyes. Most gathered under the brightest lamps, playing cards at makeshift tables, drinking, and socializing while others lounged in hammocks hanging interspersed between the canons. While some watched you pass, Axe was surprisingly good at slipping through the darkest areas to avoid the unwanted attention.
The closer you got to the front of the ship, the fewer people there were until you came upon barrels and crates stacked near and around an area quartered off by familiar heavy sheets. You could even recognize the stack you and Blue had hidden next to, the sheet on that side still halfway pulled down. Axe was kind enough to hold the flap for you to enter.
Finally, you were able to relax the tension out of your shoulders and pained joints. You wanted to climb back into the hammock and rest your aching pelvis, maybe snuggle against Axe and his warmth. The way he moved about though had you gingerly sitting on his stool, setting it upright from where it had been knocked over.
You wondered when that had occurred. What happened after you had been taken?
...
A quiet curse had you looking back at Axe as he re-fastened the makeshift wall. There were a few more rips in it than you remembered. If he had any sewing supplies, you would have to mend them. It was the least you could do as thanks.
You let out a slow breath, peering down at your clenched fists. They were cold and stiff on your lap. Black had been interested in them. The lot of them had been interested in general, but he had seemed so focused.
Your voice was soft, hesitant as you summoned the courage to speak. “Axe? I have so many questions, but I’m afraid… I don’t know if I’m allowed to ask.”
Axe chuckled. “Don’t gotta be afraid with me, Dove. It’s good ta ask questions around here. The more ya know the better, good or bad. Don’t let anyone tell ya otherwise.”
You picked at the hem of the shirt, smoothing it down as much as you could. “Is that true?" Axe simply grunted. Collecting yourself, you forced yourself to ask the questions burning your mind. "What is a Banthos? What does it mean to be one? And what did Black mean when he said my magic was too thin? I don’t have magic. I’m not… I’m not even a monster.”
It was hard not to flinch when, from your peripherals, you saw him stop. His voice had become more serious but thankfully still soft.
“The hell yer not. Listen, I don’t know what you’ve been told, where ya come from, or what ya been through. But you’re as much of a monster as the rest of us. You’re made of magic and hope just like me.” He came over to place your hand in his scarred one, taking a knee to look directly into your sockets. “We’re the same. Dust and all. It don’t matter about anything else. As fer your magic,” he rubbed his face with a frustrated sigh, “let me worry about that. Just know ya got it and I’m gonna make damn sure ta get it where it needs ta be.”
You didn’t know what to say to that, but it sent a comforting feeling to your chest. He was always so warm. It reminded you of your mother.
Nodding, you were about to ask about your first question when footsteps interrupted you. Axe stood, moving between you and the flap.
“AXE, IT IS GETTING LATE. I HAVE TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF PREPARING SANS’ ROOM FOR THE LITTLE MISS. I HOPE YOU HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN.”
Axe only slightly relaxed at the sound of Papyrus’ voice, not moving but calling out to the other skeleton. “I can take her when we’re ready. Just got a few–” he bristled when Papyrus entered and smiled down at you, hand twitching at his side –“more things ta take care of.”
“AND WHAT MIGHT THAT BE SO I MAY HELP?” When Axe only grumbled, Papyrus took it upon himself to continue. “WELL, WHILE YOU FIGURE THINGS OUT, I SHALL MAKE SURE TO GET HER SAFELY TO HER NEW LODGINGS.”
You both tensed. “Papyrus. Paps. At least let things settle before ya drag er away. You saw Sans. I don’t trust him.”
Papyrus looked a little sheepish at the accusation. “I UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERN, BUT I HAVE FAITH THAT THIS WILL WORK. I MYSELF WILL KEEP AN EYE ON THINGS IF I MUST. He Means Well. NOT THAT, THAT IS AN EXCUSE FOR HIS TERRIBLE BEHAVIOR.” He came forward to place a hand on Axe’s shoulder, humble and pleading. “WON’T YOU AT LEAST TRUST ME?”
You couldn’t place the look that crossed Axe’s face from the question, the red orb of his eyelight quaking until his free hand brushed the edges of his empty socket. “That’s cheat’n…” There was a heaviness to the silence.
When Axe’s shoulders sagged, Papyrus gave him back his space. “All WILL BE WELL. I’M SURE OF IT.”
You were uncertain as to what you needed to do, but before you could stand, Axe nudged you back down. With the reluctance of a stubborn cat, he then went about gathering items he had deemed yours, going so far as draping his favored blanket over your shoulders. When all was said and done, you were left with a surprisingly intricate box full of puzzles, Axe’s blanket, and an affectionate nuzzle to your neck.
It was with a heavy heart and a glowing face that you eventually followed Papyrus back out into the darkness.
You did your best to keep up with his long strides, missing Axe’s purposely slowed gait. You could feel the grinding strain on your pelvis and lower joints with each step. You focused on the clack of your feet to keep your mind off the aching. Papyrus was already several steps ahead of you when he got to the steps.
Blessedly, he turned to wait for you.
It was embarrassing how out of breath you had become from such a short distance, especially when you knew you didn’t technically need to breathe. You were even more so when Papyrus cocked his head to look you over with a contemplative hum.
His smile was kind. “MY APOLOGIES MISS. I KNEW YOU WERE IN ROUGH SHAPE, BUT I HADN’T REALIZED…” He glanced up the steps. “PERHAPS IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR ME TO HELP.”
Without so much as a warning, he picked you up and draped you across both of his arms. You almost dropped your box, squeaking in surprise as he ascended to the deck. Your mind and tongue had stopped working from the suddenness. Though Axe had carried you once before and had moved you a few times, you didn’t quite know what to think of this stranger picking you up so nonchalantly. It was as if it was the most normal thing in the world for him, smile just as polite and kind as before.
With him carrying you, it took little time to cross the rest of the way back through the double doors and down to the end of the hall. Standing in front of the windowed doors, you were only jostled a little when he turned the knob. He used his boot to kick it open the rest of the way with a bang, making you flinch when the glass shook precariously.
You thought you saw a flash of blue, but when you looked, there was nothing there but a railed raised platform with an extravagant-looking bed, windows lining the entirety of the back wall.
You shuddered. It smelled overwhelmingly of snow and cold rain.
Scrunching his nasal ridge, Papyrus walked around a heavy round table with a scattering of papers and a lantern. Stepping onto the platform, he carefully set you down, turning to furiously rip the blankets off the bed to ball and fling them across the room with a fwump.
“FORGIVE MY IDIOT OF A BROTHER. I WILL BE HAVING A TALK WITH HIM ABOUT APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR LATER. FOR NOW, I’M AFRAID THIS WILL HAVE TO DO. AT LEAST THE BED IS EXCEPTIONALLY COMFORTABLE.” He put his hand down to pat the mattress. “IT IS A GIMBAL BED, MADE WITH LARGER MONSTERS IN MIND SO YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE AND WON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE TIPPING OF THE SHIP.”
When you didn’t move, he gently ushered you to sit before making his way to the windows. It was so dark now that the light from the lamp effectively turned them into mirrors. You were grateful, too afraid to look through them. To your relief, Papyrus closed the many curtains for each once. Once done, he gently took your box and stood at the end of the bed, bowing slightly from the waist.
“I WOULD STAY TO HELP YOU SETTLE, BUT I UNFORTUNATELY HAVE OTHER DUTIES I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF AT THIS TIME. BUT DO NOT FEAR, I WILL MAKE SURE SOMEONE WILL BE BY IN THE MORNING TO BRING YOU SOME TEA AND BREAKFAST AND TO WELCOME YOU.” Walking away, he stopped to place your box on the table and extinguish the lantern. “SLEEP WELL MISS.”
With a wave, he picked up the bundle of discarded blankets and walked out the door, closing it behind him.
…
It was frightening, alone in the dark.
Can we see how SonOfHera is with the child/ren of Nephele. I'd think it'd be funny since Nephele is the goddess of peace, and Hera is... well, Hera 😅, especially since Hera & Nephele look alike, so their children are often mistaken for siblings/family by new campers. It doesn't help since CoN are constantly trying to calm SoH down meanwhile SoH is like that "EXCUSE ME! he asked for no pickles" beyoncé meme for CoN. Please & thank you 💜
ps, sorry if this was kinda long 💜
Considering Son of Hera’s personality he would probably somewhat take a Son of Nephele under his wing and be very protective, he’d probably see somewhat of a young version of himself in the Son of Nephele and want to shield him from some of the pains he’d had to go through in life, especially at the hands of the gods and monsters.
instead of plotting a fic or writing some drabbles like a normal person I have figured out a version of Liz's story in the form of "playable" side quests so uh. have the first installment of Liz-centered BOTW quests i guess
The Lizalfos Who Learns: after completing the Reach Zora's Domain quest, you can speak to Dunma, a Zora guard, who will tell you about an unusual monster. She's not certain of what she saw, since none of the other guards have seen it and it's difficult to keep track in the chaos of a skirmish, but she thinks she's spotted a particular Electric Lizalfos that runs away instead of fighting like other Lizalfos in the Lanayru Wetlands. She even swears this monster was carrying flowers, not weapons. It’s so odd that it’s actually concerning, but she's never had time to track down this Lizalfos with everything else going on in the Domain.
Tumblr media
It's not easy to find, but you can search the Lanayru Wetlands and spot an Electric Lizalfos with flowers tucked into its armor, even without speaking to Dunma beforehand. It's most likely to be out in the open during a Blood Moon, staring up at the sky. If you approach, it will go through the same alert animation as other monsters, but then immediately turn and run away at full speed. You can pursue it or attack it but it won't stop running until it reaches deep water to hide or you kill it, at which point it drops normal Electric Lizalfos loot. It registers as Unusual Lizalfos to the camera with its own Compendium entry:
Lizalfos are known for being smarter than other monsters, but this one acts more cowardly than conniving. It seems to like flowers, and spends a lot of time watching the moon. It runs away whenever it sees a person. With such an unusual reaction, perhaps there is more to this monster than meets the eye?
Tumblr media
If you report back to Dunma with a picture at this point, she will wonder how this monster spends its time if it doesn't fight. She's seen it hanging around cooking pots before, but it always ran away before she could tell what it was doing. If only she was a little bit stealthier, or had some kind of disguise. Even a way to track it to tell where it runs off to would be reassuring.
You will need to either dowse for the Unusual Lizalfos with the Slate or manually find and follow it to a cooking pot. Getting close enough to observe will require enhancing your stealth or equipping Kilton's Lizalfos Mask. On new moon nights, the Lizalfos will go to the cooking pot by Soh Kofi Shrine, spending about an hour there before going through a cooking animation at midnight and producing a low-strength Sneaky Elixir. On third quarter or seven-day moon nights, the Lizalfos will go to the cooking pot by Boné Pond, spending about an hour there before going through a cooking animation at midnight and producing a medium-strength Enduring Elixir. On full moon or Blood Moon nights, the Lizalfos will go to the cooking pot due west of Wes Island, spending about an hour there before going through a cooking animation at midnight and producing a high-strength Hasty Elixir. Each time, the Lizalfos will inspect the elixir, look unhappy, and leave, giving you the option of collecting the elixir for yourself.
Tumblr media
Once you have observed all three instances, you can report back to Dunma with an explanation of the Lizalfos's activities. She will ponder the significance of a monster trying its hand at cooking. Although it's concerning, she ultimately dismisses it as nonthreatening, since the Lizalfos didn't take and use any of the elixirs it made. If it's trying to imitate people, clearly it's doing a poor job of it. She will thank you and reward you with 50 rupees, ending this first side quest.
Best Wells in Tears of the Kingdom #3
Tumblr media
The Rikoka Hills Well is located in a ruined village nestled in the foothills south of the Lanayru Wetlands. If you look down onto the flooded plains from the elevated graveyard of Kakariko Village, you can see a column of smoke rising from the well, which is the location of Moza’s Hideaway Restaurant.
The mighty Moza, equipped for battle with a pot lid and a soup ladle, will turn the Dubious Food in Link’s inventory into Monster Stew, a violently purple dish that uses Monster Extract as its key ingredient. Moza’s Monster Stew only restores five hearts, which arguably isn’t worth the ten rupees she charges. The main benefit of the transaction isn’t Moza’s food, however. Rather, it’s the colorful language she uses to express her disdain for Link’s culinary misadventures.
This is ironic, as Moza has no great skill at the cooking pot herself. In Breath of the Wild, the aspiring chef could be found at Ishto Soh Shrine in the foothills of the mountains east of the Gerudo Desert. This shrine was surrounded by towering piles of garbage buzzing with flies. The origin of these heaps of raw organic garbage was a mystery, but they served as a suitable backdrop for Moza’s misguided quest to create the ultimate dish with unsavory ingredients such a wood, rocks, and monster guts.
I have to admit that I go back and forth on how I feel about the main plots of the Legend of Zelda games, which can sometimes feel overblown and silly. What I never fail to appreciate about these games are their smaller stories, which show what Hyrule looks like in the eyes of the people who aren’t trying to save it. Does Moza care about floating castles and missing princesses? Probably not, but that doesn’t stop her from living her best life and enjoying everything Hyrule has to offer an adventurous explorer.
I feel a lil embarrassed coming here to dump these thoughts bc they're not related to one AU in particular but more a concept a friend and I came up with? and it's Woodrow related and you are kind of the ultimate Woodrow person /pos
I had the idea of all the wardens having gone through some kind of ceremony in the past for each of them when they began their wardenry. and bc I'm a sucker for this trope, I like to think that through some old magic they were each given one (1) special power in order to keep their planet safe, unique to each of them. Of course by the time we see them in SOH, their planets were still overrun bc Cursa was just too powerful.
But it got me thinking (of course) about what Woodrow's power could be. And my friend and I started thinking about things like controlling storms, shadows, stuff like that...
But me being me(tm) and loving monsters and characters transforming into monsters, I settled on: giant crow beast Woodrow.
This is sorta something I talked abt in a post of mine under different contexts but I LOVE the idea of Woodrow's name being short for Woodland Crow, referring to this monstrous form he can take when necessary. I imagine he's at least three times his height like this, winged and all, but still awkward and gangly, just even more unsettling.
I think it would be cool if he had storms somewhat under his command like this - somewhat because Woodrow being Woodrow, his luck would probably not always have it work out.
Also uhhh final thought is. I imagine him being even bigger than Phantom in this form so! for the first time ever Phantom gets cuddles from someone bigger than him :]
TDLR: Woodrow has a special warden power and it's turning into a giant storm crow
Aww that's very sweet of you!! I never think of myself as the ultimate anything, haha. I'm always happy to hear people's Woodrow ideas :3 I've said this before, but I love how he resonates with people. Not just me. I don't think I've ever seen the idea of an artist/writer who struggles with acceptance, both of themselves and their work (because for many of us those two are essentially the same thing), and yet KEEPS GOING despite all setbacks, portrayed in such a powerful way that is equally blunt and whimsical.
This is a super cool idea about the wardens. And for Allegra it happened in reverse: they KNEW she should be the warden/melodist becuase she could do the rituals on her own. I'd love to hear ideas you have about the other wardens!
Picturing him as a giant crow is so cool, and YES... he can bring Phantom under his wing... or sit on him like a big egg sadjfl;kaj. And yeah, maybe due to his bad luck, the transformation would not fully work sometimes, and he'd end up as some kind of rabbid harpy thing with talons and wings but the rest of his body being normal...
Y'know, it would be fun to imagine SoH characters as other animals than rabbi(d/t)s... Woodrow would be a crow, no doubt about it! I think Phantom could be a very fancy pampered cat or something, lol... but I'm going off on too many tangents now!!
Thank you for sharing your idea, I love it :D
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess launches in 2024
From Gematsu
Tumblr media
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in 2024, Capcom announced. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.
Get the latest details below, via Xbox Wire.
A New Tale of the Kami Awaits
The story begins when the legendary Mt. Kafuku is covered by an evil defilement and the 12 masks, including their special powers, are stolen. Our protagonist, Soh, must work together with Yoshiro, the Maiden with divine powers, to purge and cleanse the villages of the defilement. The masks worn by Soh and the villagers each feature a different divine power, and these powers are the key to protecting Yoshiro. As you cleanse additional villages from their evil defilement, you’ll recover more masks and work together with the various villagers that each mask unlocks to bring Mt. Kafuku back to its original beauty.
Strategic Actions with Dancing Swords and Commands
The game combines the exhilarating action of “dancing swords” with the strategic element of deciding which villagers will join you on your journey to cleanse each village. The cycle of preparing for battle during the day and protecting the Maiden and the village from evil spirits of the mountains (“The Seethe”) at night is critical to Soh’s success. Let’s look at the gameplay during both day and night. During the day, explore the village, purge defilements, and rescue villagers so they can join you in battle. Repair contraptions to give you an advantage against The Seethe’s attacks at night. The rescued villagers will fight alongside Soh – but the decision on which power to grant to each villager is up to you. Different masks will grant different powers that help some villagers excel at close-range attacks, while others can heal your crew. Think strategically about which villagers you enlist and where to station them ahead of battle. For example, those with superior melee attacks on the front lines, with long-range attackers in the rear. Use the terrain to your advantage, prepare your positions, and get ready for epic battle once the moon begins to rise. Each village features the recognizable Torii gates, and ultimate success is decided upon whether Yoshiro, the divine Maiden, can successfully pass through those gates before she faces defeat at the hands of The Seethe. But watch out! Each Torii gate is connected to an evil universe, providing an entrance for The Seethe. Guide Yoshiro to the Torii gates to purge the defilement and save the village. How to use time wisely before sunset is crucial. In addition to time management, players must strategize for their battle at night. The players’ strategies alongside resource and time management skills are put to the test. Nightfall brings a distinct blend of intense action and real-time strategy. Protect the Maiden from the oncoming threat of The Seethe by commanding your enlisted villagers while simultaneously doing battle, facing off against The Seethe with Soh’s unique dance-like sword attacks. In the trailer, you also got your first look at “Kagura” – traditional “dances” derived from the Shinto religion in Japan that has been passed down from generation to generation to purify the defiled. Both Yoshiro and Soh perform Kagura in their own notable ways. We have named this unique action, in which the player purges the defilement by “dancing,” the “Dancing Sword Action.” Need to change strategies on the fly? Each villager can be reassigned new roles and repositioned throughout the village any time at night. Protect Yoshiro by making critical calls and decisions in this ever-changing environment.
The Seethe: Evil Spirits Called Upon by the Defilement
The Seethe take many different demonic shapes and forms, with various attacks and abilities. Each enemy is inspired by various Japanese yokai – a catchall word for all manner of ghosts, shapeshifters, demons, monsters, and more – and historic folklore. The Seethe, designed carefully by the director, offers an inside look at the dark aesthetic that immerses Soh and the villagers throughout each night’s battle. And if The Seethe aren’t enough, the latest gameplay trailer revealed the even more powerful “Festering Seethe.” Catch this intense battle against the Festering Seethe!
Damn, Krios and Kronos are having a super crappy time immediately after the Titan War. They get down there, right after losing to teenagers and Koios keeps mocking them for that, and it turns out Iapetus is not down there like they thought but rather just missing and it takes a bit before some monster is able to inform them of the events of SOH, and also they have no light because Hyperion is still trapped in the tree but hasn’t died yet. They had one small consolation in the aftermath of the war and that’s that they’d all be together again, but Iapetus is missing and Hyperion’s not there and for the first time ever they have no light.
They're having a bad time. And when he finally reforms it's just to be trapped with Tartarus himself a week later-
Digivice
Tumblr media
The Digivice of the season is called a WayFinder Digivice (WFD), its comprised of the digivice and a wristwatch-like bracelet that the digivice can slide into in order for the Tamer use in tandem. When slotted into the bracelet, the WFD’s functions greatly expand. When a Tamer uses a WFD for the first time, touching the screen will scan the Tamer’s fingerprint, causing it to confirm/recognize and only recognize the person who touched it that’s worth enough to use the digivice. The bracelet acts as a hologram projected from the digivice for a variety of uses. Functions Channeling the emotional energy of the Tamer to: - Evolve an In-training Digimon into a Rookie Digimon or a Rookie Digimon into a Champion Digimon - Super Evolve a Champion Digimon into an Ultimate Digimon - Mega Evolve an Ultimate Digimon into a Mega Digimon - Protean Evolve a Mega Digimon into a comparable Mega Digimon and vice-versa through a specialized D-Card Displaying a Digimon Analyzer profile of any Digimon whom the partner Digimon is currently seeing Has built-in mapping and tracker functions that can: - Plot the locations of other nearby Digivices relative to the user as red dots on a simple geographical map - Detecting and reacting to the nearby presence of a Digimon, or to evidence that a Digimon has recently been nearby - Displaying a compass that points the user toward where their partner Digimon is Displaying a clock (can be customized) Can allow a human to read Digimoji
D-Card A specialized card that manifest when the heightened emotions of both Tamer and Digimon synchronize causing the WFD to glow with a blinding light and undergo a change in color. A card-like object is created that can be scanned to induce a Protean Evolution in a Digimon. The D-Card contains this power, after being scanned, the WFD stores the D-Card’s data for future use. Lesser D-Cards can also be used but are usually temporary to update the WFD’s stats or to upgrade the OS of the Digivice.
Protean Evolution Protean Evolution is a catch all term for an alternate evolution of the Mega stage depending what kind of evolution used which is unique to each Tamer that invokes its power. Bancho Golemon - Blastmon (Slide Evolution) Boltmon - HiAndromon (Blast Evolution) Lotusmon - Rafflesimon (Jogress) Metal Tyranomon X - Rust Tyranomon or Darkdramon (Dark Evolution)
Digimon Groups Witchnely - A group of Digimon that hail from a different system in the Digital World, forced to Earth, they seek to return to their world. They have little understanding on how the human world works, causing trouble without meaning to for society at large.
Olympus XII - A group of powerful Digimon that reside over one system in the Digital World, some believe this group has become inactive for some time, others believe that they hide themselves away. A lone Digimon is seeking this group out while allying with the Digimon of Witchnely; Aegiomon.
Seven Great Demon Lords - Seven powerful evil Digimon that wish to rule all systems in the Digital World, their influence is vast, many have been swayed under their control. They employ both the D-Brigade and Big Death Stars under their command.
Ten Legendary Warriors - A group of Digimon that live long ago in the ancient Digital World, said to saved it from destruction of Lucemon’s previous rampage. Though they perished in the battle, their presence still thrives in the Digital World with the gifts they left behind in their descendants.
Ogudomon - When each of the Demon Lords is defeated, their data is absorbed by the Gate of Sin, a back up plan if they were ever routed, that data would combine into the ultimate Demon Lord. Lucemon Falldown Mode’s plan was to use the Gate of Sin to increase their power and acquire X-Antibodies for themselves, but with him being the only one to acquire it and unable to master it before his defeat. His last action before his death is out of spite, destroying the doors to the Gate. Absorbing the X-Antibody’s power as well causes Ogudomon to retain some semblance of itself as to not become a mindless beast.
-
I still want to do some splash art of the main characters when I get the time but this was still a fun little project to do on the side.
personally with saltburn i don’t think oliver had a true motive other than power, felix and his family are obviously very affluent but not only that but they are well liked (at least on a surface level) and i’m not sure if others can relate but in the beginning when you see oliver in his lectures with farleigh despite doing the work there’s a clear favouritism between the professor and farleigh and that is something i can relate to when in school if you work hard but aren’t as good at forming connections or are quieter teachers can prefer students who don’t work as hard and that does build resentment to people oliver clearly is very callous but we don’t know that at the beginning we are lied to just as felix is when we find out felix adopts people he sees as less than him every summer we start to dislike him. but then we find out oliver’s true nature and felix using working class people to boost his ego is nothing in comparison to that. but rich people and those close to them think they are untouchable and oliver brings them down one by one he disrupts their security from within their own home a vast estate which is far away from the problems those who are rich don’t even think of. i think oliver wanted what felix had which is being carefree around money, being able to treat people like they are unimportant and them still wanting to be around him basically being able to do what he wanted and oliver being someone clearly not in his right mind went to extreme lengths. at the end of the movie he’s looking at the toy that’s of the cattons they are dancing as puppets in front of him as he roams the house completely naked. this is so long i’m sorry if it doesn’t make sense also i understand if you don’t read all this!
Aw nah I read all of it and I get what you're saying as well, it's an interesting take.
I relate to that too at the beginning, but more on the level of like you can work as hard as you want and be as personable as you like but if you don't have connections and money in worlds like Oxford/Cambridge/St Andrews (the unis all the elite go to basically) then your intelligence and stuff doesn't mean that much. If your lectures went to uni with your classmates parents and regularly rub shoulders with them then you're not going to get the same leg ups and treatments.
The power thing definitely comes into it too, at first I was super confused about how Oliver seemed to keep switching between a very meek and submissive personality, playing at being awkward and shy, and then all of a sudden making out like he was Daddy with the sister and Farleigh, and tbh I think it was supposed to be jarring but also not directed wonderfully because it happened so awkwardly?
I genuinely think the whole things meant to be viewed as satire and total fantasy tbh, like Oliver isn't supposed to have much depth to him because he's just the representation of like the monster under the bed that the elites in the 21st century fear.
Something my friend pointed out too is that there's running theme of him being a parasite who wants to consume them all too... Like he sooks up Felix's bathwater, says the whole "I'm a vampire" thing to the sister, the way he kills the mum in the end too by cutting off her oxygen it's all very symbolic of that. So I think he really is supposed to be this garish rich persons worst nightmare. I dont know how much I think he even wants power, I think it mostly comes from a place of hatefulness and 0 respect? Like he low-key dances naked on their grave at the end naked dancing in front of the stones with their names on.
Like idk about you but I thought Felix was the perfect read on arsehole poshboy at school, that bit where Oliver gives him the bike and he's like "oh wow yah that's soh khaind" there's something about him that immediately rubs me up the wrong day because he doesn't see Oli or even notice people like that until they serve him in some way, we see him treat that girl as disposable too. When Oli says "I was just being what you wanted me to be" that's so what being in those sort of rich people's lives is like. And I suppose it's probably trying to ask us what's worse, to be like Felix and his family (who see no value in others other than to serve as their props) or to be like Oli (who sees no value in felix and his family other than to serve as leverage)
Like ultimately Oli and felix's family are all guilty of the same things - lying to people (Oli who obvs lies about so so much) (Felix in that he uses Oli and other poor people to lie to himself about how generous he is and like how charitable he is when really he just wants a pet) (the rest of the family who seem to lie to everyone by putting on this pretence of being lovely and accommodating, but are actually deeply judgemental and quite selfish/paranoid about being generous)
Like we see Olis disregard for human life in the way he kills them all, but we see felix's family also show disregard for human life too when their friend dies and the mother says "she'll do anything for attention" especially because you could argue their friend wouldn't have died if they hadn't pushed her out of the house for fear she was leaching off their hospitality.
The more I think about it I think that actually all Oliver's sins are mirrored by Felix and his family, lying, 0 respect for human life, leaching off others (because felix and his family leach off Oliver's trauma and like Rosamund's character is telling all her friends deeply personal traumatic shit about Oliver for her own social gain to show everyone how generous she is) like I wonder if in a way the point of the film is to make us question why we forgive Felix and his family for their evil but are disgusted by Oliver's. It's actually something Rosamund is constantly dropping too when she talks of her aversion to ugly people, she says about how "you wouldn't think it because she's such a riot to look at but..." as if like beautiful and stylish people can't be bad... Like I think wealth allows people to distance themselves from their moral ugliness in a ways that poverty prevents poor people from doing? There's probably a lot of academic research into this as a social trend but as I have read no deeper than Chavs by Owen Jones I am unfortunately unable to site anything other than when he talks about how we allow rich posh people to swear and say offensive things because they do it in a camp/quaint way, but we don't forgive working class celebrities for saying fuck or being racist (I don't think we should forgive racism btw it's just we forgive it in rich people more often than we do in poor people)
I'm also sorry this was so long, honestly I watched it not expecting to have this many thoughts but its actually really interesting to think about
4 - Adrianna, 26 - SOH, 43 - Fast and Loose
4. (Character) has a terrible nightmare. What is it about? How do they react?
Probably her friends dying. Or herself becoming some kind of monster, being the one that kills them. Depending on the draft, her mindset toward her powers and how she uses them changes drastically, and I haven't decided which way she's ultimately going to go on that. And she reacts poorly. Lots of anger, because she covers her fear and insecurity with rage.
26. What was the first plot point you thought of for (story)?
I don't even remember anymore. I think it was more of a single scene than anything else. Kane and Adrianna meeting during a bar fight. Ultimately, I didn't go with that as their first meeting, but I think that was where I started. Her seeing him just covered in blood and laughing, and then how I'd get them from that to working together, and then to ultimately being together.
43. For (story): Find any or all of the following words and share the paragraph they're in: yellow, cold, pain, sky, wall, smile
"Here." I tossed the cabbie some crumpled bills and jumped out. There were cops standing near the yellow tape barrier, so I turned down a side street, cut through an alley, and came back out on the other side of them. They hadn't managed to clear the street of all people—too many just ducked back into their offices when the cops came and popped back out once they moved on—so it was easy to blend in with the crowd and make my way closer to the fire.
Again, I had no idea what to say. I didn't know how she was feeling. Even back when I was human, my ability to feel things was fucked up beyond all recognition. I knew rage, knew the logical reason behind it, but right then, she wasn't running on logic. It was all burning anger and irrationality. Cold logic wasn't going to make things better. What she wanted was a way to take the fight to Kotchman and bury the prick before he killed any more of her men, and I couldn't give her that.
I reacted the only way I knew how. Crouching slightly, I tensed, then threw myself forward. I collided with him just as his feet touched down on the roof. He was a big one, probably two hundred and fifty pounds of solid muscle. I'm bigger. I hit him at waist level in a pretty decent football tackle, driving him back several feet and into the air conditioner. He let out a groan of pain, and I jumped back to give myself a little space to work with.
Slowly, I stepped out of the alcove and peered around the side of the truck. While we were talking, the rest of the fire had gone out. Clouds of black smoke were still rising silently into the sky, but no more flames were licking along the edges of the building. Some of the firefighters were starting to make their way back toward the trucks, right where I was standing. I figured it was time to disappear.
The second I stepped through the false wall, I nearly went blind. The lighting wasn't really that bright, but after the pitch black of the sewer, it might as well have been the fucking sun. I blinked rapidly for a minute and rubbed at my eyes until they finally adjusted. The first thing I saw was Johnny's smirking face. I fought back the urge to break his jaw and instead turned to look behind me.
"Suck up," I whispered out of the corner of my mouth. His lips quirked up in a small smile, but it was brief, as the seriousness of the situation set in again. "Can I get a lift to Allan's place? Don't want to waste the time driving."
