Ok I’m dying to know what you think, if somehow law got to meet a superhero reader (idk like Ironman or Spider-Man kind of inspired superhero) from like, marvel universe that fell near his submarine, would he be amazed they are like sora the sea warrior? (I know very little about sora and why law likes him so much other than he like captain America but in one piece? Do we even know if sora has a rank in the marines??) would he think they cool with their cool super suit or strong morals?! Or would he only think sora is cool? (Seriously willing to get into an argument with law on whose cooler, sora or Ironman)

BANG! SPLASH!
A massive object crashes into the sea, sending waves slamming against the Polar Tang. The submarine rocks violently. The crew shouts in alarm.
“What the hell was that?!” Shachi yells, gripping a railing.
Law strides toward the monitor “Scan the area.”
The sonar pings rapidly. Penguin squints at the screen “Uh… Captain? There’s a person down there.”
“A person?” Law frowns.
Ikkaku zooms in with the external camera. A metallic figure floats in the water, faintly glowing. The person inside stirs.
“…They’re alive.” Bepo confirms.
Law sighs “Bring them in.”
Inside the Polar Tang, the unconscious figure lies on a stretcher. Their armor is sleek, futuristic, advanced tech. The faceplate slides open with a hiss, revealing you, blinking dazedly.
“…Ugh. That was not a smooth landing.” you mutter. Your eyes dart around “A submarine? Who—?”
You see Law “Oh. You look important. What’s with the hat?”
Law scowls “Who the hell are you?”
You smirk “Call me Iron Phantom.” You flex your fingers, testing your mobility “Mind if I sit up? Not really a fan of lying down in strange places.”
Law crosses his arms “That depends. Are you a threat?”
You chuckle “That depends... Do you consider saving people a threat?”
Law tenses. That kind of line… It’s too familiar.
Bepo, intrigued, leans closer “You’re a hero?”
You grin and give a two-fingered salute “At your service.”
There’s a heavy silence. The crew exchanges glances.
Law exhales sharply “Tch. You sound like someone... nevermind.”
You raise an eyebrow and Law’s eye twitches.
Shachi whispers “Captain’s thinking of Sora…”
Penguin nods “Definitely Sora.”
You tilt your head “Who’s Sora?”
Law scoffs “Just some fictional warrior of the sea.”
You smirk “So… a hero?”
Law glares.
Shachi nudges Penguin “He totally thinks they’re cool.”
Law growls “Shut up.”
You chuckle “I am pretty cool.”
Law pinches the bridge of his nose. This is going to be a long day.
The crew is staring at you. You take the opportunity to sit up, rolling your shoulders.
“Okay,” you say “I’ve woken up in worse places.”
Law narrows his eyes “Where did you come from?”
“Technically? The sky. More specifically? Got hit mid-flight, lost control, and, well…” You gesture vaguely “Gravity, I guess?”
Shachi gasps “That’s kinda badass.”
Law shoots him a glare. Shachi clears his throat and looks away.
You tilt your head at the submarine’s interior “This your ship?”
“Submarine” Law corrects.
You grin “A submarine? That’s sick. Not enough heroes operate underwater, you know. It’s all ‘soaring through the sky’ or ‘running at the speed of sound.’ But the ocean?” You nod approvingly “Respect.”
The crew looks between you and Law.
Penguin whispers “Captain is so weak to hero talk.”
Law ignores him “How does your suit work?”
You glance down at your armor “Oh, it’s powered by an advanced energy core. Flight, enhanced strength, force fields, the usual.”
“…Tch.” Law clicks his tongue, crossing his arms “A walking weapon.”
You smirk “A walking hero.”
The twitch in Law’s eye is noticeable.
Bepo, still curious, leans in “Why do you save people?”
You blink “Uh. Because it’s the right thing to—” you stop and gasps as soon as you focus on Bepo "Oh wow, you're so cuteeeee"
Shachi and Penguin grin at Law.
He exhales sharply “The right thing to do... Of course that’s the answer.”
You raise an eyebrow “Something wrong with that?”
Law rubs his temples “Nothing. It’s just...” He gestures vaguely at you “You sound exactly like...”
“Sora?” the crew chimes in.
Law glares “Shut up.”
You laugh “Oh, so I do remind you of someone.”
Law scowls “Not a compliment.”
“I dunno,” you tease “Sounds like a compliment from you.”
Law turns to his crew "Get them off my ship.”
“Aw, come on, Captain,” Penguin says “They’re kinda cool.”
Law’s eye twitches “We are not keeping a superhero.”
You smirk “You say that like I’m a pet.”
Shachi snickers “Captain’s just mad you’re like his childhood idol.”
You lean toward Law, grinning “You a fan of heroes, Captain?”
Law gives you the most unimpressed look possible “No.”
You nod sagely “Denial. The first stage.”
Law sighs. This is going to be an even longer day than he thought.
Law wants you off his submarine.
Your problem is that you got kinda injured from that fall.
Nothing life-threatening, but the moment you try to stand, your body wobbles like a newborn deer. The suit took the worst of the damage, but the impact rattled your brain enough to make the world spin.
“Great,” Law mutters “A half-broken superhero.”
You shoot him a weak grin “I prefer ‘slightly dented.’”
Bepo catches you before you tip over completely “Captain, we should let them rest.”
“No,” Law says “They’ll be fine.”
You blink “You must a doctor here, right?”
Bepo ears start to move “Captain is our doctor”
Law crosses his arms “So?”
“So, you’re supposed to help people when they need a doctor” you point out.
The crew watches, completely fascinated as their Captain is forced to process being out-moraled on his own ship.
Law pinches the bridge of his nose “I don’t treat reckless idiots.”
You smirk “Bet you’d treat that Sora.”
Silence.
Shachi and Penguin choke trying not to laugh.
Law inhales slowly through his nose “Fine.”
Later on, Law works efficiently, scanning for injuries while you sit on the examination table, feet swinging.
“You ever met a superhero before?” you ask.
“No.”
“You excited?”
“No.”
You grin “You sound excited.”
Law glares “I could throw you back into the ocean.”
“Wouldn’t be the first time I got thrown out of somewhere.”
Law ignores you, eyes flicking to your suit’s exposed wiring “Your armor needs repairs.”
You sigh “Yeah, I don't know how to do it myself. I usually have a team for that. But seeing as I’m currently stranded on a submarine…”
Bepo perks up “Ikkaku’s good with machines!”
Ikkaku grins “I’d love to take a look at it.”
You brighten “See? Your crew likes me.”
Law doesn’t even glance up “My crew is full of idiots.”
Shachi grins “Idiots who think superheroes are cool.”
Law clenches his jaw.
You lean back, watching him “You ever wanted to be a hero?”
“No.”
“Not even as a kid?”
“No.”
You smirk “Liar.”
Law swears under his breath. This is officially his worst patient ever.
You’ve been on the Polar Tang for a grand total of three hours now, and you’re already Law’s biggest headache.
Not because you’re demanding. You actually sit still while he patches you up, which is more than he can say for his own crew.
No, the problem is that you’re clearly a walking Sora reference, and the crew will not shut up about it.
Law applies a bandage to your arm, muttering, “You heal fast.”
You grin “Perks of the suit. It boosts recovery.”
“Ridiculous,” he scoffs, but he doesn’t look away from your gear. He’s analyzing every detail, the material, the tech, the way it integrates with your body.
You catch him staring “You’re interested.”
“No.”
“You’re totally interested.”
“I’m analyzing flaws.”
“Oh? Find any?”
Law tugs the bandage a little tighter.
You hiss “Ow! That was petty.”
“No, that was medical precision.”
Shachi leans against the wall, grinning “Captain’s totally geeking out.”
Law glares “I do not ‘geek out.’”
Penguin nudges him “Then why’d you grab a notebook?”
Everyone looks.
Sure enough, Law’s holding his personal notebook, the one he uses for medical observations, or in this case, detailed notes on your suit’s tech.
He immediately closes it “You all need to shut up.”
You laugh “Busted.”
Bepo tilts his head “Captain, if you’re curious, why not just ask them?”
Law crosses his arms “I’m not curious.”
You smirk “If I told you how my flight system works, you wouldn’t be interested?”
“…No.”
“Not even if I explained the physics behind it?”
Silence.
Shachi grins “He wants to know.”
Law drags a hand down his face “I swear to—”
You stretch lazily “Well, I guess I won’t explain, then. Too bad.”
Law’s eye twitches. You can practically hear his inner self screaming for answers.
“…Tch.” He exhales sharply “Fine. How does it work?”
The crew erupts in laughter.
You grin “See? That wasn’t so hard.”
Law already regrets this conversation.
You swing your legs from the medical table, grinning like you just won a bet.
“I knew you were interested” you say.
Law rolls his eyes “It’s scientific curiosity, not admiration.”
You raise an eyebrow “Uh-huh. And if I asked you how your submarine works, that wouldn’t be admiration either?”
Law scoffs “Of course not.”
“You saying there’s a difference between admiration and respect?”
Law tenses.
The crew watches.
Penguin whispers “Oh, they got him.”
Law glares “Shut up.”
You smirk “Sooo, you respect my tech?”
“…It’s functional” Law admits, very grudgingly.
Shachi grins “That’s the closest thing to a praise that Captain has ever given to a stranger in years.”
Law snaps his notebook shut “I hate all of you.”
You chuckle “It’s fine, I get it. You’re a grumpy, cynical doctor who doesn’t believe in heroes—”
“I don’t.”
“—but deep down, you definitely wanted to be one as a kid.”
Law inhales sharply through his nose.
Silence.
You smirk “Called it.”
Shachi and Penguin high-five in the background.
Law grits his teeth “I am a pirate captain and a doctor, not a hero.”
“Sure, sure,” you say “And that Sora is just a propaganda story.”
“…Tch.”
You hop off the medical table, rolling your shoulder “Welp, I feel way better. Thanks, Doc.”
Law mutters “Unfortunately.”
You glance at the crew “So, when’s dinner? I’m starving.”
Ikkaku grins “I’ll make extra.”
Law glares “They are not staying.”
You smile “C’mon, Captain. You wouldn’t kick an injured guest out, would you?”
Law exhales slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose.
This is officially his problem now.
Right as you were all sitting down for dinner, the Polar Tang shakes as explosions erupt outside.
“Captain!” Ikkaku yells from the control room “Enemy ship approaching, they're bounty hunters!”
Law grits his teeth “Of course it’s bounty hunters.”
You glance at him “Want me to handle it?”
“No.”
You ignore him and start walking.
“Oi,” he snaps “Did you hear me? I said no.”
You just shoot him a grin “Yeah, but you’re not my Captain... Captain.”
Law swears under his breath.
Outside the Polar Tang a massive bounty hunter ship looms overhead. The crew scrambles, manning the cannons. You step onto the deck and roll your shoulders.
Law follows, grumbling “I don’t know why I even bother.”
Then he watches you activate your suit.
Thrusters ignite at your back, launching you into the air. The ocean wind whips past as you twist midair, dodging cannon fire.
Law stops moving.
His crew doesn’t notice but he does.
His surgeon’s brain starts analyzing instantly.
Your suit doesn’t just grant flight, it adjusts to air resistance, correcting your trajectory with perfect precision. No wasted movement. Every boost of your thrusters is calculated.
"The reaction time...” Law mutters under his breath.
You spin between cannonballs, dodging like it’s nothing. Then you fire back. A pulse blast rips through the enemy’s mast.
Shachi and Penguin shout in awe. Bepo gasps “That’s incredible!”
Law tilts his head, completely fascinated.
Your targeting system, how does it calculate angles so instantly? Is it predictive tech? Some kind of AI support?
You land on the enemy ship with a metallic clang. The bounty hunters charge.
One swings a sword.
Your gauntlet snaps up, catching the blade.
Law’s eyes widen.
The armor absorbs the impact. No recoil. The distribution system must be flawless.
Then, in one fluid motion, you twist the sword away and deck the guy in the face.
The crew is freaking out.
Shachi grabs Penguin’s arm “Captain’s doing the thing.”
Penguin nods “He’s totally doing the thing.”
Law doesn’t even blink.
His gaze flickers from your footwork to your reaction time to the way your suit enhances your natural movements rather than restricting them.
“…They can still maneuver at that speed?” he mutters, barely realizing he’s speaking aloud “That shouldn’t be possible without—”
You dodge a bullet mid-air.
Law inhales sharply.
The bounty hunters rush again. You move like a blur.
You slam one into the ground so fast that Law’s brain lags. Another charges, you sidestep effortlessly, then launch a repulsor blast point-blank into their chest.
Law leans forward slightly.
His crew watches him instead of you now.
Ikkaku whispers, “He’s in full nerd mode.”
Bepo nods solemnly “He’s already started taking mental notes.”
You flip over another opponent, land gracefully, and turn back toward the Polar Tang “That’s the last of ‘em.”
Shachi and Penguin cheer.
Law is staring at your boots.
“That propulsion system...” he mutters, completely absorbed “The shift in weight distribution should’ve thrown off the landing, but—”
You smirk “You like what you see, Captain?”
Law snaps out of it.
His expression hardens instantly “Tch. You’re reckless.”
You laugh “So you said. But I did just save your ass.”
Law clicks his tongue “You’re a pain in mine.”
You step closer “Admit it. You think it was cool.”
Law crosses his arms “I think it’s impractical.”
Penguin grins “That’s what he says when he’s impressed.”
Law turns on his heel and walks away “We’re leaving. Get back on the ship.”
You watch him go, then glance at the crew “He’s totally geeking out, isn’t he?”
Shachi nods “Oh, 100%.”
You chuckle. This is way more fun than you expected.
Dinner on the Polar Tang is surprisingly cozy.
You sit at the long table, surrounded by a crew that definitely doesn’t see you as a stranger anymore. Ikkaku chats excitedly about possible modifications for your suit, while Shachi and Penguin keep pestering you with questions.
“Do you have a secret identity?”
“Do you have a superhero name?”
“Can you shoot lasers from your eyes?”
You laugh “I feel like answering would ruin the mystery.”
Across the table, Law eats in silence.
Or, well... he tries to.
Bepo keeps throwing glances his way.
Shachi and Penguin keep nudging each other.
Everyone is waiting for him to say something.
Finally, after finishing his food, Law sighs and sets his chopsticks down.
“You can stay” he says.
The crew erupts into cheers.
You blink “Just like that?”
Law glares “Until you figure out how to get back to wherever you came from. That’s it.”
Penguin grins “That’s basically an invitation to join the crew.”
“It is not.”
Bepo tilts his head “But Captain, if they’re stranded—”
“They’re not stranded,” Law insists “They have a high-tech flight system, which means they can leave any time they want.”
You smirk “But you’re letting me stay anyway.”
Law scowls “Only because it would be irresponsible to throw an injured person into the middle of the ocean.”
Ikkaku grins “And because you wanna study their suit more.”
Law’s eye twitches.
“I don’t care about their suit.”
Shachi leans back, arms crossed “Mmm, right. So that whole time you were staring during the fight—”
“I was analyzing a potential ally’s combat effectiveness.”
Penguin snorts “Nah, you were nerding out.”
The whole crew bursts into laughter.
You grin, propping your elbow on the table “It’s okay, Captain. You can admit it. You think I’m cool.”
Law exhales sharply.
Then, in the most neutral, deadpan tone possible, he says “You’re marginally less annoying than the rest of my crew.”
Everyone gasps dramatically.
“That’s basically love” Penguin whispers.
Law stands abruptly “Dinner’s over. We leave at dawn.”
You watch him go, chuckling “He likes me.”
Shachi nods “He totally does.”
Bepo smiles “Welcome aboard.”
You glance around at the crew, at the warmth, the laughter, the feeling of belonging, even if just for now.
You might not be a pirate.
But for now this isn’t a bad place to be.

pairing: gojou satoru/reader
words: 408
notes: this is sfw, soulmate au ish! really short, just had to get the feels out! y/n and gojou r immortal beings AND their kind of species mate 4 life! (like geese, wolves, penguins, etc.)
Tumblr media
for beings like you and satoru, eternity stretches vast and endless, far beyond the span of others' lives, a horizon that will never ever fade. at the same time, your kind is unique, bound by an ancient instinct--once you choose a mate, it is forever. like geese soaring together through the skies, migrating across vast landscapes, always returning to one another no matter the distance, or like penguins braving icy winters side by side, huddling together for warmth and enduring the harshest of conditions to protect each other, your kind knows no second loves. there is no wavering, no room for doubt. the bond is absolute, eternal, unbreakable.
but eternity isn’t as romantic as mortals imagine. centuries passed before you met satoru, centuries of watching humans live and love. they seemed so fleeting, their lives fragile as frost on grass at dawn. yet that fragility gave their connections a beauty you couldn’t simply ignore.
they loved as if their lives depended on it.... perhaps because maybe it did.
when you met satoru, it wasn’t the grand moment you had imagined over countless years. there was no dreamy thought of like oh my gosh, finally, the stars aligned, no thunderous proclamation of destiny. it was, instead, a bit mundane.
he bumped into you on a crowded street, spilling his drink on your coat.
"oh, crap," he said, staring at you with wide, guilty eyes before hastily taking out a handkerchief.
you only blinked at him, unimpressed that he was touching you.
you were annoyed at the act, even though his handkerchief and your clothing were in between your skin and his. an apology would have been enough.
"what are you doing?"
"trying to fix this," he said, dabbing at your coat with the enthusiasm of a toddler cleaning a crayon disaster. "don’t worry, it’s just coffee--"
"stop." you quietly said with a frown.
it just suddenly came to you: the bond snapping into place like threads of silk pulled taut. there was no denying it, no second-guessing. the connection between you was older than time itself, written into your very existence.
"oh," he said, realization also hitting him. then, with a smirk, "finally."
"you’re my mate?" you blurted, incredulous
"what, disappointed?"
"maybe a little."
he burst into laughter, the sound filling the air like sunlight, and despite yourself, you smiled.
and yet, beneath that warmth, a question lingered.
because while the bond was absolute, its success wasn’t guaranteed.

Round 3 - Reptilia - Suliformes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Sources - 1, 2, 3, 4)
Our next order of birds are the Suliformes, comprising 4 living families: Sulidae (“gannets” and “boobies”), Fregatidae (“frigatebirds”), Phalacrocoracidae (“cormorants” and “shags”), and Anhingidae (“anhingas” and “darters”).
Suliformes are waterbirds, and contain a variety of different birds adapted for either ocean or freshwater life. They have long beaks and long necks, very long in some families, and webbed or partially webbed feet. The Sulids (gannets and boobies) (image 2) have streamlined, torpedo-shaped bodies adapted for plunge-diving under the water, sometimes swimming after their prey (see gif below). Frigatebird males (image 3) are known for their distinctive red gular pouch, which they inflate during the breeding season to attract females. Frigatebirds are able to soar for weeks on wind currents, spending most of their time in flight hunting for food, and roosting on trees or cliffs when necessary. They are the most aerial birds and eat, drink, bathe, and even sleep on the wing. They eat fish and squid which they mainly catch from the surface of the water, since they can not swim, and sometimes prey on the chicks of other seabirds. Phalacrocoracids (cormorants and shags) (image 1) are much more aquatic, and spend less time on the wing, either perched and sunning themselves or hunting on the water’s surface. They dive from the surface, swimming after small fish and even water snakes. The Anhingids (darters and anhingas) (image 4) are recognizable for their extremely long, snake-like necks. They do not dive deep but quietly swim and ambush their prey, using their long necks and sharp beaks to impale fish and aquatic invertebrates. Suliformes live worldwide, wherever there is water.
All Suliformes breed in colonies. Males will choose and defend a nest site, and then advertise to females, often with unique courtship displays. Most species are monogamous, at least for one breeding season. Usually, the male will collect sticks while the female builds the nest. Both sexes incubate the eggs and feed the chicks. Sulids and Anhingids will incubate their eggs and keep the chicks warm using their webbed feet, which become vascularized and hot during incubation. Both parents will regurgitate food to feed their young.
The Suliformes have been around since the Eocene, around 50 million years ago. It is suggested that loons, penguins, storks, Suliformes, and Pelecaniformes all seem to have evolved from a common ancestor, sometime between the Late Cretaceous and the Early Paleocene.
Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut:
The Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii) (image 2) is known for its bright blue feet, which comes from structures of aligned collagens in the skin modified by carotenoid pigments obtained from its diet of fresh fish. The pigmentation reflects the immunological state of the bird, and healthier birds will have brighter, bluer feet. In mating displays, male Blue-footed Boobies will raise their feet for the female to inspect. She will choose the feet with the best color, as that will be the healthiest father for her chicks.
In Homer's Odyssey, the sea goddess Leucothea appears in the form of a Gannet (genus Morus) (see gif above), and tells the shipwrecked Odysseus to discard his cloak and raft, instead offering him her veil to wind round himself which will save his life and enable him to reach land.
Frigatebirds (image 3) have the most elaborate mating displays of all seabirds. Male birds will take up residence in the colony in groups of up to thirty individuals. They display to females flying overhead by pointing their bills upwards, inflating their red throat pouches and vibrating their outstretched wings, showing the lighter wing undersurfaces in the process. They produce a drumming sound by vibrating their bills together and sometimes give a whistling call. If one of the female circling above chooses a male, she will descend to join him and allow him to take her bill in his. The pair will then engage in mutual "head-snaking".
Frigatebird parental care lasts the longest of any bird species, rivalled only by the Southern Ground Hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri) and some large accipitrids, and they are only able to breed every other year. A frigatebird pair’s single chick is continuously guarded by the parents for the first 4–6 weeks. Both parents take turns feeding for the first 3 months, after which the male's attendance trails off leaving the mother to feed the young for another 6 to 9 months on average. Even after they leave their mother, frigatebirds can take up to 11 years to reach sexual maturity.
One Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor), tracked by satellite in the Indian Ocean, stayed aloft for two months without roosting.
Frigatebirds can fly higher than 4,000 meters (13,123 feet) in freezing conditions.
Imperial Shags (Leucocarbo atriceps) fitted with miniaturized video recorders have been filmed diving to depths of as much as 80 metres (260 ft) to forage on the sea floor.
The Flightless Cormorant (Nannopterum harrisi) is unique in that it is the only known cormorant that has lost the ability to fly. Its small wings are about one-third the size that would be required for a bird of its proportions to fly. These cormorants evolved on an island habitat that was free of land predators, and thus had no need to fly to flee them, before the introduction of Domestic Cats, Dogs, and Pigs to the Galápagos Islands.
Cormorant fishing is a traditional fishing technique in which fishermen use trained cormorants (or sometimes darters) to catch fish in rivers. Historically, cormorant fishing has taken place in China and Japan, as well as Greece, North Macedonia, and briefly, England and France. Though cormorant fishing was once a successful enterprise, its primary use today is to serve the tourism industry, mainly in southwestern China. To control the birds, the cormorant fishermen tie a loose snare near the base of the bird's throat. The snare does not stop the bird from swallowing small fish, but prevents the bird from swallowing larger fish, which are held temporarily in their gullet. When a cormorant has caught a fish in its throat, the fisherman brings the bird back to the boat and has it regurgitate the fish.
The Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga) (image 4) and the African Darter (Anhinga rufa) are sometimes called “snakebirds” due to their appearance while swimming. While they swim, their bodies are submerged with only their heads above water, appearing like a snake. While under the water they move slowly and stealthily, their necks coiled and ready to strike at prey.

Miss Margaret: "Children, I want you to be able to make a small report this weekend on what you like most about Fawcett, and you can use all the visual media you need to accompany it."
Billy doesn't know exactly how to start, but he takes a recorder that one of the kids from the orphanage gave him and goes out for a walk.
"Hi, I'm Billy Batson. I'm eleven years old and this is my report..."
"What I like most... What I like most about Fawcett... There are many things, but I like taking the metro, it has a great view. I'll get off at the last station to see the zoo..."
"I like the zoo the most. Kids get in for free and I can see the tiger... It's orange and has black spots..."
"Personal note: Yesterday Tawky Tawny talked to me. I need to make sure I'm not going crazy."
"As I was saying, I really like coming here whenever I can. The caretakers already know me and let me feed the penguins with a lot of supervision."
"Besides the zoo, there's the old Zantini bakery. They're very kind and whenever I stay a bit longer they tell me a story about when they arrived in America as newlyweds. They make delicious apple pies and cannolis. If I can compare, this place goes up on my list of favorites for its delicious aroma..."
"Personal note: It might have to do with the winter I escaped from the orphanage and they took me in. They taught me to bake many things that year."
"If I walk farther from the commercial area, I can take the bus to get to the baseball stadium. The big apartment tower next to 54th Avenue has an excellent view of the field. My friend Madison took me to see it many times while she lived in the city. With her dad's radio and binoculars, we could feel like we were inside..."
"Personal note: Now I can watch the games from the Rock of Eternity... I have a spherical TV that tunes into more than two hundred interdimensional channels... I've seen my local team win and lose in the same match..."
"I can finish this report with the city's anniversary parade. I haven't missed it since I have memory. The big balloons that soar through the skies remind me of many of the heroes, the zoo animals, the people of Fawcett, and the vibe that reminds us we're all grateful to live here."
"Personal note: I love seeing my own balloon pass by!"

A Pirates Choice Part 2
Tumblr media
Part 1
a/n: I wanted to say I do have plans for this part two to have two options maybe 3. But I really wanted to get this part out now that the recent One Piece episode was released so yes this chapter does contain spoilers for that episode. Anyway please enjoy I did cry while writing this which means that this chapter has to be one of my good ones.
This chapter is not all sad though there are a few sweet moments.
Trafalgar Law x f!reader
TW: This story contains mentions of sexual assault, unwanted pregnancy, and loss.
****
Your thoughts swarm as you ponder Law's words while he hovers above you awaiting your response.
“What I want?” your voice cracks as you tear up looking up at your captain.
Law nodded, “I promise we can work out whatever you choose.” He encourages you wiping away the stray tear off your cheek.
You nodded and in that moment Law knew your answer and pulled your head into his chest gripping you tightly.
Law kept his promise and when you finally calmed down the two of you went over options. You decided that you were going to find your new home in Dressrosa. You both figured that it would be far enough removed from the government without the dangers of a lawless island and you could help the country regrow itself.
Law informed Hakugan that they would be temporarily changing course. It would take a bit longer than expected but Law assured to see your safe landing on Dressrosa was worth pausing his expedition to the one piece.
However, your trip was cut short.
The Polar Tang bucked and groaned beneath you as cannonballs slammed into its hull. Chaos reigned on the bridge. Crew members scrambled, faces etched with fear, while Law's voice, sharp and commanding, cut through the din. "Make for the nearest island!"
You stumbled your way onto the bridge, “What is going on?” You shouted over the ruckus.
Law’s eyes darted up to meet yours, a storm of worry and determination reflected in their depths. “Blackbeard,” He gritted out, bracing himself against the lurching vessel.
Adrenaline surged through you as the sub tilted dangerously. Water began seeping in through cracks in the hull. You joined the frantic struggle to cover the cracks. The sub swiftly steered towards the nearest island and the water pouring in slowed as the sub surface.
Everyone dashed to the door to ready their fight on the island. You followed suit, but a strong hand clamped down on your shoulder, halting you in your tracks. Law’s stern gaze met yours. "You're staying here," he growled.
Shock and defiance warred within you. "What?!" you exclaimed, wrenching your shoulder free. "It's Blackbeard!” You paused quickly hiding your fear behind a reassuring smile, “I'm not missing out on the fun." A forced laugh escaped your lips as you tried to mask the fear creeping up your spine. But as you turned your back toward your captain your fear quickly resurfaced and etched itself on your face.
The blinding sunlight forced you to shield your eyes as you stumbled onto the beach, Law's figure a blur behind you. Blackbeard, a monstrous silhouette, soared above on a grotesque, winged beast. Before he could land, Law met him with a barrage of room-based attacks.
Your attention snapped to Jesus, the user of the Strong Strong Fruit. Mountains were yanked from the ground and hurtling towards your allies. With a fierce cry, you coated your sword in Haki and leaped into the air, cleaving the oncoming disaster in half. A triumphant grin spread across your face as you landed, meeting Law's approving gaze. Pregnancy hadn't dulled your edge, it seemed.
Law's orders echoed through the chaos as he dispatched Penguin and Shachi to the sea, and Hakugan to the Polar Tang. Then, the earth convulsed beneath you. Blackbeard's Tremor Tremor Fruit was unleashing its fury. You were pinned to the ground, the world a jarring, chaotic blur. Fear gnawed at you as you struggled to breathe, the full extent of Blackbeard's power a terrifying reality.
Desperation fueled your attempt to rise, your instincts to protect your stomach and child from damage distracted you from the monstrous boulder hurtled towards you. Law's anguished cry was a distant echo as your world shattered. The impact was a cataclysmic force, ripping you from the earth. Your body was a helpless puppet, tossed and turned by an unseen hand. The ground itself seemed to revolt, rising in jagged walls that met you with unforgiving brutality.
Your body finally came to a jarring halt, and the extent of your injuries became painfully clear. The worst was concentrated on your abdomen. The fabric of your shirt was shredded, revealing a gaping wound that stretched across your slightly risen belly. Law’s face contorted in horror as he took in the sight. He knew, with a cold dread, that your child’s fate was grim. You weren't wearing the protective gear the crew usually donned, but one of Law's oversized hoodies. Now, the once comfortable fabric was tattered and useless, fluttering in the wind.
Law’s mind drifted back to the day you’d claimed the hoodie. Exhausted from a day at the helm, he’d retreated to his quarters, only to find you rummaging through his closet. A smirk tugged at his lips as he approached, amused by the sight. “What are you doing?” he asked, his voice laced with playful curiosity.
You jumped, startled by his presence. Your face flushed as you stammered out an explanation, a nervous smile playing on your lips. “Ah! Uh, Captain... I thought you’d be out a little longer.”
“That doesn’t answer my question,” Law replied, a playful smirk gracing his lips as he perched on the edge of his bed.
You groaned, turning back to his closet and rummaging through the clothes. "My suits are getting harder to hide this bump, and Shachi's starting to catch on to my suit-borrowing habit," you explained, pulling out a hoodie. You slipped it over your undershirt and turned to your captain for approval.
Law chuckled, “You know if you go out wearing my hoodie, everyone is just going to think that we are in a relationship.” he teased, raising an eyebrow.
You roll your eyes and scrunch your nose at the comment slipping the hoodie off and throwing it into a pile on his bed before turning back to the closet, “As awful as that sounds, it's better than them finding out I’m pregnant.”
Law sighed, grabbed the hoodie, and began folding it neatly. “Why are you so concerned about them finding out?” he asks with a gentle tone.
You paused your search, a thoughtful expression crossing your face “Because then they will see me as weak.” you replied, your voice soft. Resuming your search, you pulled out one of his long coats. A playful smirk spread across your lips as you turned to face him. The coat nearly touched the floor, engulfing you.
Law shook his head in amusement, but his expression turned disapproving. You removed the coat and playfully tossed it at him, covering his face. He pulled the coat off his face, “You are one of the strongest fighters of the crew no one is going to think you are weak even for a second.”
“They will when they find out how it happened.” You spoke coldly gripping the next item tightly.
Law noticed the action and stood up to grab your arm. “Y/n what happened does not make you weak,” he spoke softly in your ear as your back pressed against his chest.
You frowned gently releasing the fabric and placing your hand over his. A sigh escaped your lips as you relaxed into his touch. “The only two people who know about the… event. is you and Ikkaku. And both of you already look at me differently. I don’t think I can handle it when the rest of the crew starts looking at me like that.” You admitted, avoiding his gaze.
Law looks down at you in surprise, “I don’t look at you differently.” he defended. You shook your head, and his frown deepened. He grabbed your shoulders, gently spinning you to face you, “Okay, maybe I do look at you differently, but it’s not because I think you're weak.”
Your gaze met his, and you absorbed his words. “I know that what happened was awful, but it showed that you are much braver than I could ever imagine. You saved those other women, and you protected Ikkaku. I’m worried you’re bottling things up is unhealthy, but I think it shows how much you care about everyone around you.” Law pauses as he looks into your eyes, “If I am looking at you differently it's because you've been amazing me.” a blush crept on his face as he watched your eyes search his face.
Law’s eyes widened in horror as he watched your body convulse on the ground. A low groan escaped your lips as your hand instinctively moved towards your stomach, a look of pure terror etched on your face. His heart pounded in his chest as he lunged towards you, the desperate need to protect both you and your child consuming him.
His path was disrupted when Blackbeard landed on the island, his arrival a jarring interruption. Law's attention was torn between your desperate state and the looming threat. A growl erupted from his throat as he glared at the pirate, his mind racing with a thousand different plans. Blackbeard, sensing an opportunity, swung his fist, forcing Law to defend himself. The pirate’s blow sent him crashing across the beach, his body slamming into the unforgiving sand.
A blood-curdling scream tore from your throat, your focus solely on your injured abdomen. Then, with a feral snarl, your head snapped up, and your eyes locked on the monstrous pirate. Adrenaline coursed through your veins as you launched yourself at Blackbeard, your Haki-coated sword a blur. You connected with his chest, the impact sending a thrill of satisfaction through you.
Blackbeard vain throbbed in his forehead as he looked down at you with surprise and irritation as you seemingly disappeared into the next attack. He swung his arm toward you but you easily dodged his attack and appeared beside him slashing at his open side. He hissed as his hand instinctively reached for his injured side, granting you a guttural growl from the pirate.
You took no moment to relish in his anger but allowed another feral scream to roar out of your chest as you dive into another attack. This time the pirate captain stopped you in your tracks by grabbing your throat and lifting you to his eye level. You dropped your sword as you clawed at his massive arm terror and desperation warred within you as you gasped for air.
A twisted smile crept across Blackbeard’s face as he looked down at you, your face soaked in tears and contorted in fear. “Wow, you are a spiteful one!” He sneered but his mockery was cut short by the blue-coated end of Law’s sword pierced through his chest. A look of shock and disbelief flashed across his face as he dropped you to the ground.
Law’s voice echoed through the air as he unleashed his attack, his blade now crackling with yellow electricity. Blackbeard faltered to the ground, his gaze now fixed on the enraged bloodied doctor. With a swift motion, Law pulled up the ground beneath him, transforming it into a deadly threat that spun around him as he launched himself at his opponent.
You groaned in agony, clutching your injured abdomen. You tried to look up towards the fight but were only met with the pitch darkness of Blackbeard's Black vortex. When the darkness that enveloped the battlefield dissipated your eyes quickly searched for your captain.
Law was on the ground covered in blood. His usual snarky demeanor was replaced with one of raw fear as Blackbeard hovered above him tauntingly. Ignoring the pain you pushed yourself off the ground. Your vision blurred, and your legs trembled, but you refused to give in. You raised your sword and shouted for the pirate gaining his attention. He turned to look over at you but laughed seeing your state. “Do you really want to keep fighting me? When you look like that!”
You straightened yourself as you held your sword up confidently, “For my captain. I will do anything. Even die.” You declare, your voice filled with a fierce resolve.
Blackbeard's expression shifted, a flicker of surprise and perhaps even respect crossing his face as his eyes drifted down toward your slightly raised belly. "Y/n... don't," Law coughed, his voice weak but filled with a desperate plea for you to stay out of the fight. Blackbeard smirked, relishing in Law's vulnerability.
But before either of you could react, a shockwave erupted from the Heart Pirates' side. The ground trembled as a monstrous figure emerged - Bepo transformed into a colossal, enraged beast. Twice his normal size, his fur was pure white, and his eyes glowed an ominous red. With a thunderous roar, he charged towards Blackbeard's crew, his voice echoing across the island. "Don't touch my captain!”
"Y/n," Law coughed, his voice barely a whisper. You fell to your knees beside him, taking his hand in yours. "Save yourself," he begged, his eyes filled with a desperation you'd never seen before.
You shook your head, bringing his hand to your lips and pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles. "Thank you, Law," you whispered, tears streaming down your face. "For everything." A bitter smile tugged at your lips. "I'm sorry," you managed to say before pushing yourself to your feet. Bepo was already returning to his normal size, his exhausted breaths a stark contrast to his previous ferocity.
Bepo collapsed to the ground, his knees buckling beneath him. Tears streamed down his face as he looked at his Brother. You rushed to his side, helping him to his feet. "You need to get him away from here," you urged, your voice trembling. Bepo nodded, his determination unwavering.
You turned to face Blackbeard as he pushed himself up from the ground Bepo pounded him into, your heart pounding in your chest as you swallowed a painful lump in your throat "And don't let him see what happens next," you whispered, a single tear escaping your eye as you come to terms with your fate.
Bepo's breath hitched in his chest as he realized the gravity of your words. Fear gripped him, but he couldn't find his voice. "GO NOW!" you screamed, your voice filled with desperation. Bepo nodded, tears streaming down his face. Scooping Law into his arms, he turned and ran towards the sea. You took one last look at the two before shifting your attention back to the pirate crew and jumping into your attack.
"Bepo, please!" Law cried out, his voice filled with anguish as they fled. "I can't leave them! I can't let y/n!" His sobs echoed in the air. Blackbeard's cruel laughter filled the silence as he held your lifeless body aloft. Bepo's heart shattered as he dived into the water, blocking the horrifying sight from Law's view.
Law finally was consumed by the darkness allowing Bepo to take him far away from the island and out of Blackbeard's clutches.

Penguin Danny would gladly travel to the highest peaks to slide down in a speed of 80 Miles per hour down to take fight
Being a penguin is great for many reasons, Danny thinks. The insulated feathers allow for better comfort in the snow, not that his ice core didn't help with that already. Adult penguins were ten times more attentive than his own parents, which was an awesome plus.
But most of all, being a penguin meant that his body was incredibly aerodynamic. Sledding down steep slopes on his stomach was way more fun that any sled he had ever used! And the higher he went, the faster he got!
The only issue being, the teen really needed to pay closer attention to the bottom of the slope. He cursed himself as he neared the bottom, having found the highest snowy peak yet and managed to make his way to the top before any of those puffy coated people could herd him back towards the colony.
He fully blames his baby mind, completely disregarding the fact that he was fully cognate at the moment. The teen braced himself as he felt the ground slope upwards slightly, sending his extremely fast moving body soaring.
Distantly, he could hear the alarmed cries of the puffy coats, as well as the distress from the costumed children that had been chasing the GIW off. It didn't really matter, though. All he could focus on was the weightless feeling of flight. It had been a while since he had flown, not wanting to risk hurting himself if his ghost powers fizzled out or something, so he thinks he can be excused for the fact when gravity took hold again, he barely noticed.
He only noticed when his flipper clipped the side of a GIW agent's head. The action sent the man to the ground, and completely threw off Danny's trajectory, sending the teen beak-first into a decently deep snow drift.
Crunching snow alerted him to someone's presence before the warm grip of gloved hands around his midsection, but he still wiggled in surprise as he was gently tugged grew of the snow. Shaking his head, Danny looked over to the traffic light child beside him, who was looking him over for any injuries.
The teen couldn't resist patting the cloaked figure's head with his flipper, before he turned back towards the slope he had just come down. Not that the initial shock was wearing off, the only thing that Danny wanted to do was get back up there and try again. Maybe he could stay in the air a little longer this time, without the moron in white in his way!
As he waddled off as fast as he could, Robin shook himself out of his own shock and hurried after the large baby penguin. Like Hell was he letting that happen again!

Sure! There was a formula! There was a whole worked-out theory of trade! This was a centerpiece of his policy! He was kidding! In my defense, financial markets also took the tariffs seriously, and were down; now the tariffs are off and the markets soared yesterday.
Well, the tariffs aren’t off. There are still 10% tariffs on everything, and 125% tariffs on China, with “little prospect for a near-term detente.” Adam Tooze writes: “China is so huge that with 125 percent tariffs on that one country, the overall tariff level is actually higher than before Trump announced his ‘concessions.’” It is still a dramatic shift in US economic policy, but now it comes as a bit of a relief.
Also though this is just a pause, right? Technically, in 90 days we’re supposed to be right back here, with high pseudo-reciprocal tariffs on every country and the formulas and the non-tariff barriers and the reindustrialization of America and the wholesale restructuring of global trade. I will definitely have forgotten all of this by then, though, and so will you, and so will financial markets, and probably so will Donald Trump. “Remember the 29% tariff on penguins,” people will idly muse, like it was a dream.
