Hi! I was a bit too late for art party, but my friends were there from the start xD Is there any discord server to share art from this meetings?
Aw I'm sorry you didn't manage to make it, but at least you can live it vicariously through your friends!
As for your question, since the overarching theme of art parties is Big Community Engagement, rather than posting things quietly on a discord server everyone posts their art to their social media of choice (usually here on tumblr, but I've seen a few come up on twitter as well) under the same tag so it's easily found - for us it's #VSArtParty! This means once people have rested up and finished their art/writing/whatever, everyone knows where to go to look for things and start engaging with it! :D
#there's a whole second part of the party that comes once people start posting their stuff#i've been slacking on interacting with stuff the past few parties but it's just as important if not MORE important than physically attendin#especially since on tumblr a post will keep circulating long after it's posted as long as people keep interacting with it ♥#obnoxious tourist simulator#asks#soap-from-soapland#vsartparty

Masterpiece thats all I gonna say it a masterpiece of confession and bath scene. Lol
Also I just remember when I read in the bath scene that y/n thought is she is approaching Gun like those shady back ally service, I just thought on the soapgirls [soaplands/sopu-jyo] (you can search it and I read a manga about it)
Damn all I think on how I want to bath together with Gun and how I want lean his muscle in the bathtub. I just wanna feel those muscles.
Spice basically turn into sweet dessert that I enjoy since it been awhile that you update. (Sorry can't make the chap 2 lol. My laptop have buzzing sound when it start so I need to check it up if there is any problem with it and also college)
Gun mentioning about the morning after care pill and having his baby made my chuckled then y/n saying that he doesn't need to as she been drinking birth control pills.
Somehow I get the feeling that he is alittle disappointed that y/n won't have his babies early but still excited that he can just goes his ways to y/n without worrying LOL.
Lemme guess next chap will have spice again noh? Also I kinda curious in the past ask I made that you basically confirm that Gun may have the Box of toys gifted by Goo. I wonder if it will appear as one of the kink in a chapters.
AGHHHH TY SAM FOR ALWAYS WRITING A CHAPTER REVIEW FOR RENDEZVOUS!! I'm always so eager to see what you thought of whenever you read a chapter. 😊❤️
Oh my god, YES. THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING OF WHEN I WROTE THAT PART ABOUT THOSE ENTERTAINMENT WORKERS IN KABUKICHO (a.k.a. for anyone who doesn't know, Tokyo's well-known Red Light Entertainment District located in Shinjuku). AH, "SOAP-GIRLS" 😭 I FORGOT WHAT THE ACTUAL TERM WAS FOR THESE WORKERS, BUT THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME!
Fun Fact: How I heard about Soap-Land was from an old video I watched on 88rising's channel back in 2018, when Joji was starting to promote more of his music and he mentioned to Lil Yachty that he should visit more of the "weirder" parts of Tokyo, which was LITERALLY Soap-Land. 💀 Here's the part below at 1:20 where Joji mentions Soap-Land and explains what it is. ⬇️ (NSFW IMAGERY)
youtube
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 💀💀💀 Ah yes, we all want to get a feel of Gun's muscles, don't we? Especially, in the bath tub. 😩💦
Ah gee, it really has been a while huh? 😭 To be frank, I quite enjoyed writing the transitions from rough and hardcore, to soft and affectionate smut scenes. 😆 I believe that, if the chapters always display aggressive scenes, then it'll be too repetitive and the story will eventually get boring imo. (Because I also want to follow the plot of what I had in mind for this story, and not just produce smut for no reason.) Honestly, my main focus is on the story and not just the smut but I'm glad that you guys enjoy them. 😳💗 (Is ok Sam, I understand. As much as I want to read Ch. 2 of your Gun x Y/N Nun story, I'll always remain patient and wait for it if you suddenly decide to or if you're able to continue writing it. I STILL HAVE HOPE!! 😩😩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Also, I know college can be a pain too so that's understandable.)
BAHAHAAHSHDFSDFSLDKFSL MAN, THAT PART HAD ME CACKLING LATE AT NIGHT WHEN I DECIDED TO WRITE THAT LINE. 💀💀💀💀💀💀 God, I still have tears to this day just from laughing at that. 😖 My sense of humor? Peak. 👌🏽 Kidding. I'm the biggest idiot ever.
In all honesty, if he looks back at that memory, he would be a bit upset that (Y/N) turned him down on wanting to conceive his child. 😭 Gun's immediate thought would be, "How dare she not want to have my child. Does that woman not know how INVINCIBLE our child could have been? Our son/daughter could have had everything! Good looks, undefeatable strength, and THE Copy Ability!! Tch, forget searching for my own successor. My child WILL be the successor." And then (Y/N) would eventually stop him like, "Ohhh no you don't! I won't let you turn our kid into one of your little Power Rangers!" 💀 But man, he'd definitely get his way with her. What's scary is the possible thought of forcing her to have his child. Like for instance, he might approach her one day and say, "You're going to have my child no matter what." Poor (Y/N) is just going to look at him confused like, "Um... what?" 🤨 and then BABY BOOM! 😩😩😩 (I'm guessing this is where his breeding kink comes in.)
Teehee... maybe, maybe not. 😏 Ohhhhhhh boyyyyyyy. Now, THAT will be fun to write about! I'll be doing a lot of brainstorming these next few days. I'm excited to write the next chapter!! 👀
ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU SAM FOR THE AMAZING CHAPTER REVIEW!! *MWAH* 💋 I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!! 🥰🥰🥰

This is just another annoying example of how one-sided reporting on fandom tends to be. Vile things are said and done on soap twitter and in the fandom every day. Hell, last weak because the idea of a Black girl being loved and cherished on screen is too much for some people a bunch a group of Karens decided that Sprina isn’t a real couple because they’ve only been on one date when in soapland many a couple has started with two characters falling in love on the run together or on a deserted island. But, this young couple isn’t real despite over a year of buildup because it hasn’t followed courtship rules from the Victorian-era when almost no other super couple has. Gee, why could that be? Never mind the ugly things that get said about Tabyanna Ali.
But the story worth deemed worth covering is that a white girl got her feelings hurt because someone who didn’t tag her pointed out that due to the ridiculous age limits in her category she’s competing against 9-year-olds and her only actual peer (an Asian-American actress btw) was taken out of consideration for an Emmy. White tears trump everything. 🙄🙄🙄

Not active on soap twitter. It was my first fandom i ever belonged to and i learned a lot. Unfortunately how bad people are.
I was really into shipping a controversial couple at the time from Days of Our Lives (the writers did a hack job and i was young and dumb; looking back now with the knowledge i have i wouldn't have shipped them and those storylines shouldn't exist in the first but its a rant for another time).
People who i thought were friends in this ship were mostly white and were nice as i never indentified myself as a POC. But when Obama got elected...WOW did the racists come out!
And no one, even the liberal allies, stood up to them. When I started to say something, well you can guess the script (there's a point to this rant i promise).
It is annoying though to see white actors engage with these racist bigots on the daily. Maybe they know, maybe they don't. But i find it hard to believe when these a-holes attack BIPOC actors. If you all (the actors) follow each other, it will come up in your twitter feed. But i guess it mist be nice to have white privilege and ignore hate that doesn't affect you.
Apparently though its not ok to comment on the Daytime Emmy's and their young actors in a drama series category. The age requirement has been changed again to under 19? This year Eden McCoy and 2 literal children are nominated. Someone commented about it and Eden herself, as well as an ex General Hospital actor turned Hallmark star, took offense.
Its one person you don't knows opinion and your getting mad because? White people save your anger and outrage for real issues. Even in soapland. FFS.
Especially when i see her fans in the tags being annoying and racist towards Sprina.

Pretty decent episode, all things considered. Certainly an improvement on last week - at least this week was back to focusing on characters and not just on sensationalist nonsense.
I’m going to start by discussing the return of the king, and by the king I mean Michael Spence, and yes I am going to keep making this joke for as long as possible. My biggest complaint about this episode, quite frankly, was the lack of Michael. Especially since presumably we’re not gonna see him again (though I hope for one more appearance in the final episode)?
Having said that, Michael is one of those characters who just defines Holby, so seeing him at all was a pleasure. Plus, it was nice to have an update on how he’s been doing - pretty well for himself, clearly. He’s a professor now! Good for him. Just make sure Henrik doesn’t find out. He’d try to use Michael as a rebound, lmao. (Henrik has a thing for professors. And by “a thing”, I just mean he was canonically in love with Gaskell, flirted with David Hopkins (who was also a professor) a little bit, and there’s one early episode where there’s this professor lady who implies she and Henrik got up to something mischevious at a conference in 2008 - although admittedly it could’ve been a crazy night out or something just as much as a one-night stand. But all of that just isn’t as catchy as “Henrik has a thing for professors”.)
Also, lol @ Michael basically trying to get all the Holby staff over to Shoreham Cross. Can you blame him? If I were him, and I liked all these people I’d known, but all those people worked at a hospital that is quite frankly incredibly dangerous to work at and has had multiple incidents regarding serial killers, I’d try to get them to come over and work with me too.
Also also, he looked really hot. What a silver fox indeed.
Anyway, now I’m done talking about my darling Michael Spence who deserved more screentime because I have literally wanted him back for YEARS, onto the Henruss stuff.
Guy Henry was doing his best ‘kicked puppy’ face tonight, he really was. You just wanted to reach through the screen and hug poor little Henrik. Man, I don’t want to infantilise an autistic character but tonight made it REALLY HARD. So I’ll use my “I’m autistic too” pass to get away with saying “omg Henrik my poor precious babie I want to cuddle you”. XD
Speaking of Henrik’s autism, oh my GOD that scene where he was trying to apologise to Russ. Most autistic thing I’ve seen in my LIFE. He literally walks right out there, bends down by the car and practically shouts “Just wondered if we could have a little talk!”. That scene had me laughing my fucking ass off. ABSOLUTELY something I would do. In fact, I probably HAVE done pretty much exactly that and just forgotten about it.
I would like to politely ask Russ to chill. Or politely ask Henrik to tell Russ that Billie tricked him into not being able to tell him because of patient confidentiality. Or politely ask Billie to tell Russ the same thing. Also, Russ, you’re a soap character. In soapland, pregnancies are practically invisible until the baby’s already popped out. IRL you’d be a pretty terrible dad for not noticing, but in soapland it’s no big deal. XD
Although having said that, Billie still deserves the award for Best At Hiding Pregnancies out of every soap character. Not even Fenisha Khatri or Eva on Corrie whose last name I don’t remember made it all the way into labour before the people around them found out they were pregnant.
And tonight had me all the more convinced that Billie is going to give Denver up for adoption and Amelia and Eli will adopt him. I know Amelia was saying that she’d decided against having a child after all, but I expect a last-minute U-turn from her.
Delainey Hayles absolutely acted her socks off as Billie tonight. She was just great. I loved the scenes with Billie and Max - the way Billie looks up to her is just lovely.
On a more generally Henrik front, the scenes with him confronting Madge in his office just reminded me why I am so tired of Henrik being CEO. There’s really nothing new to do with it. And it canonically makes him miserable. He’s so much happier when he’s just a doctor. However, on the bright side, seeing Henrik sit on his desk again for a bit was fun. I always like when Henrik just takes “queer people can’t sit in chairs properly” and “autistic people can’t sit in chairs properly” to a new level by abandoning chairs entirely. It’s funny.
Elsewhere, Donna seems so happy and I LOVE that for her. Seriously. I do. She deserves all the best. Maybe she’ll even find a nice boyfriend or girlfriend at Shoreham Cross.
I quite liked the scenes with Dom and Sacha. They were very sweet.
And we finally get answers as to what’s going on with Madge. Presumably her husband’s weird behaviour, then, is because he’s trying to cover up for the daughter abusing her? This is a really interesting storyline idea actually. Too bad they’ve only introduced it right in the last 5 episodes! Sigh.
Also, I adore Kylie. She may have got the wrong idea but she was really trying her best and she really wants to help. Beautiful cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure.
Now. We’ve had Michael Spence back. Can we get Malick back too, please, Holby? He’s my other most desired return - I REALLY want to see him react to Henrik having a boyfriend.

@aisurume :
( HOVER ) @ kihoon
How the fuck did this happen?
Alone in a car with Shinji, a saint for how he casually offered to take him home after seeing him struggle with taxi cabs the other day. A pretty saint with strong hands that gripped the steering wheel, fingers that tapped against it idly along with whatever song was playing on the radio, focused and clear eyes on the road that made him sweat whenever Shinji turned his gaze to Kihoon or his–
... What the fuck was that sound? Was the car going to blow up? Were they out of gas? Kihoon hadn’t driven automatic before, so watching Shinji drive had been his excuse to ogle at a this heartthrob. Shinji seemed to know what it was, with how he cursed and swiftly parked on the roadside to fix the problem. So the car wasn’t going to blow up. Great. It wasn’t out of gas, it wasn’t making any worrying noises so... Why was Shinji coming closer? Leaning in to the passenger side of the car with a muttered ‘just a second’ to open and close the door beside Kihoon with a slam.
That’s how they landed in this predicament. The car reeked of tension. Shinji leaning over Kihoon, one hand on the car door, the other on the shoulder of the passenger car seat, his mouth opened and closed as if he wanted to say something. Spit it out! Kihoon was dying of anticipation, his heart hammered in his chest for Shinji to just kiss him. It wasn’t the first time ( please don’t let there be a last ), they’ve done more so why did he feel the need to hesitate?
Was it his breath? Did it smell?
He could have sworn he made sure to brush his teeth before coming out to work and he was chewing so much mint gum that his nostrils felt cold. He could still taste the entire packet of spearmint that he shoved in his mouth minutes before Shinji texted him about being ‘on his way’ to drop him home. Kihoon prepped himself to confess his feelings ( before Arisu did anything ) and hopefully throw himself at the older man if he agreed.
If.
Shinji has no reason to refuse, right? After paying to fuck a man, his sexuality wasn’t the biggest question on his mind. Shinji liked men. Shinji liked women too, a fact that caused a pang in his chest, was it fear of being replaced by a woman? Again, he was less than because he wasn’t a woman–
His brain already formulated an entire BAD END before either of them could even open his damn mouth to ask ‘why’. Kihoon’s gaze lowered to Shinji’s lips, hovering so close to his, he couldn’t tear his eyes away. He breathed to say something, ANYTHING to tempt him like the snake he was.
Wait. What cologne was that? It was sweeter than his usual... It wasn’t just his natural scent either, he reeked of soap and sweet perfume.
Like he just came from a bath.
Like he just–
“... Did you go to a soapland...?”
STUPID. That was none of his business. Now he sounded like a jealous teenage girl begging for the attention of a damn crush. Like an anxious not-quite-girlfriend accusing a prospective lover of ‘cheating’ on her.

Do you think Charity really thought that Vanessa was walking away from their relationship and breaking up with her when she walked away during the proposal? What do you think Charity was feeling/thinking during that time, when she was alone at home farm?
YES. I think she truly believed that that was IT, that she had finally managed to push away the one good thing in her life that she had got all by herself, no scheming involved. I think the show was pretty clear in telling us exactly how Charity felt, actually. She didn’t see the failed proposal as one bad thing she had done and could recover from. She saw it as the final nail in the coffin, the thing that would do away with the façade that she was actually deserving of Vanessa. And that was so painful to watch because we had all seen it coming. We had all theorized that Charity didn’t fully understand why Vanessa Woodfield, local ray of sunshine, was wasting her time with her. But to hear Charity actually say it?? THAT SHIT HURTED
I’m replying to some of these in the same post so I don’t flood your dash
Ask 2:I’m so happy that it took vanity 7 months to say I love you, and I’m so happy that they said it the same time. There was no drama involved or anything like that, they just said it bc they love each other. I love that the writers took their time with them. Building them and giving them a foundation. Honestly sometimes it feels like other couples on the show says it after like 3 weeks of being together.
It was great, wasn’t it?? I hadn’t watched a soap in a LONG time (and my limited viewership was actually of telenovelas, which have a set airing duration and ending), so I really appreciated that because of it we actually got to see their relationship evolve in a natural pace. All of their moments of intimacy felt earned, didn’t they?
Ask 3:Why do you think the producers and writers has chosen to have vanity being all happy and in love all the time. They’ve barely had any angst and drama. Which is rare on a soap, they’ve been together for one and a half year with a breakup that lasted less than a 24 hours. I think it’s sweet. But why do you think vanity is treated this way?
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, maybe? But really, I don’t think they’ve had a squeaky clean journey at all. They’ve just faced those hurdles together, which, in soapland, is almost unheard of, right? I wish I could tell you they’re written like that because I think the producers/writers are grooming them to become the matriarchs of Emmerdale or whatever, but I honestly just think they haven’t got to screwing them up yet. After they were in the spotlight last year more than pretty much any other characters they’ve taken the backseat for a while, not having a storyline that was strictly their own since the proposal. I think they’ll be left alone until the wedding and then goddess knows what they’ll do with them after that.

Sega officially announced Yakuza 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness (English subtitle not official) for PlayStation 4 during a press conference at UDX Theater in Akihabara, Tokyo today. It will launch on January 16, 2020 in Japan for 8,390 yen, and in 2020 in the Americas and Europe.
Update 4:08 a.m.: The western release is titled Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Read more here.
Here are the first details, via the official Japanese website:
■ Introduction
The latest numbered entry in the Yakuza series for PlayStation 4, this is the story of new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga. In the new setting of Isezaki Ijincho in Yokohama, the story of the hot-blooded thugs stirred up by Ichiban Kasuga will begin.
If the protagonist changes, so does the gameplay. This is a new Yakuza experience!
New protagonist Ichiban Kasuga changes not only the story of the game, but also how you play.
■ Story
Protagonist Ichiban Kasuga makes his way up from the depths of despair. Depicted until the becoming of a new “Dragon,” this is the ultimate story of overcoming the higher ranked and rising to new heights. The future is in your hands!
January 1, 2001. The yakuza Ichiban Kasuga, who belongs to third generation family of the Tojo Clan—the Arakawa Family—was asked to take the fall for the crimes of wakagashira Jo Sawashiro by his boss Masumi Arakawa, which he agreed to do. For the family that he loves, for the respect of his boss… Kasuga served 18 years in a strict penitentiary, and in 2019, was finally released.
However, there was no one there to greet him upon his release.
With no one to welcome him, Kasuga returned to his hometown of Kamurocho. But the Kamurocho was not the Kamurocho that Kasuga once knew.
Thanks to a police policy known as the “Kamurocho 3K Operation,” the Tojo Clan had fallen. The police and the Omi Alliance of Kansai yakuza had completely taken over. And the one who created this new Kamurocho was none other than Masumi Arakawa.
“How could the boss do something like this!?”
In order to ascertain the truth for himself, Kasuga went to go see Masumi Arakawa.
After getting past obstacles like Omi Alliance members and his former superior Sawashiro, Kasuga manages to make his way to Masumi Arakawa.
“Boss!”
A reunion 18 years in the making with the “Boss” he loved like a father, the yakuza he admired—But what awaited him there was not the smiling face of a reunion, but rather the cold barrel of a gun.
“I’m sorry, Ichi… you need to die.”
The gunshot echoed. Kasuga’s vision dimmed—.
“Wha….!”
While wandering the depths of life or death, Kasuga somehow regained consciousness. But when he came to, he was at a dumpsite in homeless town lined with cardboard houses.
“…Where am I?”
Kasuga’s question is answered by a homeless man.
“Ijincho… Isezaki Ijincho. This is Yokohama. Got that? Yokohama.”
■ Battle
“Live command RPG battles” bring the fight of the “Dragon” to a new stage!
Yakuza 7 uses a “live command RPG battle” system that combines the series’ signature action with an RPG command system. It has evolved into a system in which anyone can easily enjoy exhilarating battles. In this completely new battle system, Ichiban Kasuga and his party will fight by selecting techniques with various effects such as attack, recovery, support, and more. Enjoy immersive and dynamic battles against all sorts of enemies.
■ Adventure
A new setting: Isezaki Ijincho in Yokohama!
Yakuza 7 is set in the huge new area of Isezaki Ijincho in Yokohama, which is more than three times the size of Kamurocho in Tokyo. In Yokohama, where every place has different faces, a grand story will unfold.
■ Cast
An all-star cast appears to bring the story of a new “Dragon” to life!
Kazuhiro Nakaya, Akio Ootsuka, Sumire Uesaka, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yuichi Nakamura, Kousuke Toriumi
Shinichi Tsutsumi, Ken Yasuda, Kiichi Nakai
General Director Toshihiro Nagoshi
■ Characters
Ichiban Kasuga (2000 version) (voiced by Kazuhiro Nakaya)
The Tojo Clan is Kanto’s largest yakuza organization. Ichiban Kasuga is a wakashu of the Arakawa Family, a third generation family of the Tojo Clan. Since he was born in Kamurocho soapland Shangri-La, he is called “Soap Ichiban” by the older residents. Although he grew up without knowing his true parents, he was charmed by the manly spirit of Masumi Arakawa, who he met at age 15, and joined the Arakawa Family. Since then, he has lived with resolute loyalty to Arakawa, but since he is not good when it comes to earning money, he is shunned by the wakagashira Jo Sawashiro, who stresses the importance of money.
Ichiban Kasuga (2019 version) (voiced by Kazuhiro Nakaya)
He takes the fall for Sawashiro, who committed murder, at the request of Arakawa Family leader Masumi Arakawa, who is like a father to him. After that, he spends 18 years in penal servitude. After he is released, the Tojo Clan has fallen, and the Kansai yakuza known as the Omi Alliance has taken control over Kamurocho. Finding out that Masumi Arakawa was behind it all, Kasuga goes to see Arakawa to asertain the truth at its source.
Jo Sawashiro (2000 version) (voiced by Shinichi Tsutsumi)
A wakagashira with a sense of duty and humanity towards his boss Arakawa, who stresses the importance of money. He would beat Ichiban Kasuga down with his fists as a daily occurrence, as he was unable to earn money. He single-handedly takes on the role of the “whip” within the Arakawa Family.
Jo Sawashiro (2019 version) (voiced by Shinichi Tsutsumi)
A martial artist yakuza who serves Masumi Arakawa from the era of the Tojo Clan. He hated Ichiban Kasuga back in the day, and after 18 years, that hatred has not changed. Since Arakawa became an substitute wakagashira of the Omi Alliance, he has the same authority as an Omi Alliance executive directly reporting to the boss.
Namba (voiced by Ken Yasuda)
A man who was stripped away of his nursing license after challening the medicine from the hospital he worked for to the black market, and now lives in the depths of poverty in Isezaki Ijincho. After Ichiban was shot by Masumi Arakawa and lost consciousness, Namba saves his life and begins working with him.
Masumi Arakawa (2000 version) (voiced by Kiichi Nakai)
The leader of the Arakawa Family of the Tojo Clan. Born and raised as the son of a popular theater troupe, he has been all over the country, but someone shot and killed his father, the chairman of the troupe, which led him to the yakuza. In the past, he was known as the best martial artist in the Tojo Clan, and for that reason the Arakawa Family was established as a third generation family of the Tojo Clan, and he was feared as “Killer Arakawa.” He meets Ichiban Kasuga by chance as a boy and becomes his sponsor.
Masumi Arakawa (2019 version) (voiced by Kiichi Nakai)
While he was once the head of a Tojo Clan third generation family, the Arakawa Family, after information about the Tojo Clan was leaked to the police, the Tojo Clan was eliminated from Kamurocho, which provided a major service to the Omi Alliance’s advance into Kamurocho. With his achievements recognized, he is currently the substitute wakagashira, essentially the Number 2 man in the Omi Alliance.

SIRI. how would you have done ryan leaving? I know you're probably gonna say death because you're Siri but let me know anyway.
lmao anon, you know me so well.
i honestly don’t know what i would have done. okay yeah, i probably would have gone that route, but at the same time, it’s a soap and i know how ~precious they are about holding on to legacy characters.
robert sugden is a sugden and as such, could never die! gasp! there’s a reason they had andy go on the run as well.
i’m mad about it but i understand from that pov even if i don’t agree with it. you should never be afraid to kill a legacy character and honestly? making a BELIEVABLE storyline? (and i see a lot of soaps have to be this way! it’s SOAPLAND! which okay but it doesn’t have to be. you can make soaps believable and keep to the same format. it’s so frustrating how much soaps get away with shitty writing and storlylines “because they’re soaps”. ugh anyway not the point)
i would have killed him. especially if i knew for sure he never wanted to come back (though there is always that thought that perhaps he’ll change his mind etc etc so just in case we shouldn’t kill him!) so in that case i probably would have kept the storyline as is because it works in some weird way that robert’s still being robert sugden by thinking he’s not gonna be helpful to aaron so he needs to cut all contact (unfortunately we’ve seen this before time and again)
thus, this storyline works in robert’s stead and if i was confident ryan would come back
if i knew for sure he wanted out?
i’d have killed him. but then i think we all know this. god, give robert sugden the send off he deserves instead of shoving him in a prison and pretending like we can use him again if we decide to! we never stick to storylines anyway! 14 years? lol, we’ll mess withthe justice system and pretend he’s out in five!
though i mean the fudge everything else including divorce.
anyWAY. i actually like the way this works irt robert even if this whole storyline has made me uncomfortable for other reasons.
we have what we have and i don’t like it, but when do i ever lmao.
robert sugden is alive and being the self-sacriificing moron i love and adore, so i can’t get too unhappy.
(because lbr, if they’d killed robert off i would have been RAGING. unless they did it in a way that was respectful to who he was now.)
what is this post? i don’t know. i think i’m like I LOVE THIS and I HATE HIS and all over the place, which is pretty much where i am with this storyline lol

so whats the story with these emmerdale guys? and hypothetically if someone wanted to get into them where would they start?
i am SO glad you asked!! this turned into a whole ass primer, but you did ask!!
the good news is that the emmerdale guys (aaron dingle and robert sudgen) share a truly epic love story that spans four years, three redemption arcs, a lot of character development, and a found family at the end. the BAD news is that there is umm a lot of stuff to wade through if you want the full experience.
emmerdale is a british soap, which if you’re not familiar with the format means that it airs five days a week all year long. tbh it’s an entirely different medium than television - there are no seasons, no hiatuses, no finales, just episode after episode every day, like a weird parallel universe we get a window into! it also has been airing since the 60s, and some of the characters have been on the show for 20+ years, which means that there is a LOT of backstory and history and context behind everything. you have to be ready for some very overblown plotty stuff and a lot of melodrama. also people are allowed to be ugly and have bad hair and everyone works a blue collar job and knows everyone else’s business and spends all their time in the village pub. it is fantastic! embrace the medium!!
aaron and roberts story does have some of that over the top plot and melodrama, but it also has some INCREDIBLY powerful and affecting emotional depth, especially from 2016-now. neither of them start out as good people, largely due to the extreme trauma of their respective childhoods. aaron takes out his self esteem issues on himself, robert takes out his self esteem issues on other people. this means that at first, things are pretty toxic and bad! robert is cheating on his fiancee! the writers take a couple things way too far! the good thing is that pretty much anyone can be forgiven for anything in soapland, so we get some very very satisfying redemption arcs out of it. i will not spoil the rest unless someone asks me to, but the founding tenets of their eventual relationship:
robert would do literally anything for aaron, after spending his whole life until he met him only looking out for himself
aaron never stops loving robert, even when every other person in the whole village hates him
robert is always the first person to notice when aaron is struggling, and he always tries his very hardest to help him
both of them but especially aaron have a lot of physical and emotional scars, and there is a scene where robert literally runs his fingers over aaron’s scars while aaron is lying in a hospital bed and tells him that he will love him forever
danny miller (aaron) can cry on cue. and he does. a lot!
if you’re intrigued, do not try to go watch the whole show!! there are thousands of episodes and you will be fully lost. luckily, people have uploaded their storylines to youtube to make it easy for us.
both characters come from important emmerdale families, which means that they’ve been on the show for ages, but aaron and robert have existed in their current iterations with their current actors since 2009 and 2014 respectively. this means you have a few options for entry points:
if you really want to commit, you can go back to aaron’s origin/coming out story here. tw for suicide attempts, self harm, and internalized homophobia. it is pretty nuanced and has a lot of meat on its bones for a soap coming out story, and it does give a lot of context for aaron’s later actions and destructive tendencies. also might make you cry when you get to 2018 because he has grown up SO MUCH. that playlist also includes a long storyline about his first boyfriend - if you want to skip it, which i would unless you have a lot of time on your hands, the bare bones of it: the boyfriend jackson loves aaron, aaron doesn’t know how to love anyone yet, jackson gets into a terrible accident and is paralyzed from the neck down, aaron essentially becomes his full time caregiver, jackson doesn’t want to live the rest of his life like this and eventually convinces aaron to help him end his life, aaron goes on trial for murder but does not get convicted. a lot of it is deeply angsty and not in the fun way.
after all that, aaron ends up fleeing to france with a new boyfriend ed because he has taken the blame for a crime his best friend adam committed. he returns in 2014 all grown up, and you can watch from the return for context here or just cut to the chase and watch the robert/aaron storyline beginning here*. i wouldn’t recommend starting anytime after that because you do need to watch the morally dubious toxic stuff in order for the later stuff to have its full impact!
the other option available if you are short on time or do not want to fast forward through many scenes of robert’s wife and her family bickering is to watch this supercut instead, which spans from just before their first kiss to mid-2016. it is 18 videos of about 30 minutes each, which is about the length of an actual season of tv! easy peasy!
honestly, all of these options are still probably going to leave you with some question marks, especially with supporting characters and backstory. i am super happy to help fill anyone in on stuff! i get great pleasure out of recounting this show’s ridiculous plot! but your best bet is probably just accepting that you cant know everything and sinking into the good satisfying love story.
have fun if you decide to get into this! i promise it is worth it! ask me if you have any questions at all! also if at any point you are struggling please keep in mind that eventually they will be very happy and looking each other like this:
*i should also mention that there are some pretty major trigger warnings in there: more self harm, child abuse/rape, and gaslighting all feature fairly heavily in some portions of the plot. also cheating and some light attempted/actual murder in the early bits.

An asuran scientist in the search of the water dragon by day and a pirate captain by night, Ramala. Though the times are not set in stone. He’s a necromancer and a golemancer. The tentacles on his backpacks are his invention, very helpful when you need a hand with carrying a pencil or a coffee cup around the lab.

15 Iconic 90s Soap Storylines That Had Us All Glued To Our Screens
While soap audiences are relatively modest nowadays, back in the 90s millions of us tuned in to catch up with the carryings-on of our favourite characters.
Whether it was Deirdre Rachid’s wrongful imprisonment in Coronation Street, Brookside’s body under the patio, Sharongate in EastEnders or a full-scale plane crash destroying Emmerdale, the decade had more than its fair share of soap scandal.
As we continue our celebration of old-school TV in HuffPost UK’s nostalgia series Rewind To The 90s, we’re looking back at 15 iconic soap storylines that had everyone talking at the time...
Free The Weatherfield One, 1998 – Coronation Street
youtube
Coronation Street created one of those rare soap moments that became a national talking point when Deirdre Rachid was wrongly imprisoned.
The beloved character was conned by lover Jon Lindsay and ended up in jail after he implicated her in a number of his scams and fitted her up as the brains of the operation.
A now-iconic ‘Free The Weatherfield One’ campaign swept the country, campaigning for Diedre’s release, which eventually came when one of Jon’s exes came forward with a similar story.
While there was a real strength of feeling among fans for Deidre to be freed, producers had always planned for the character to eventually make it out.
Sharongate, 1994 – EastEnders
youtube
In one of the most memorable EastEnders moments ever, Sharon and Phil Mitchell’s affair was exposed when Sharon’s husband and Phil’s brother Grant played a tape recording of Shaza discussing their rendezvous with best mate Michelle Fowler to a packed Queen Vic.
Awkward doesn’t even begin to cover it.
The Millennium Club explosion, 1999 – Brookside
youtube
Brookside loved a good disaster plot in the late 90s and early 00s, but perhaps the most devastating was the explosion at the Millenium Club.
Many of Brookside Close’s residents found themselves caught up in the drama when the newly-opened fitness club-come-nightspot was blown up by gangster Callum Finnegan, who had been terrorising co-owner Lindsay Corkill.
Greg Shadwick perished in the disaster, having been too busy having sex in the shower with Susannah Farnham to hear the alarm, while his son Jason also died while trying to save him.
The plane crash, 1993 – Emmerdale
youtube
The plane crash is often seen as a pivotal moment in Emmerdale history, as it helped transform the show from a cosy, rural drama serial into one of the ‘Big Three’ soaps.
Some 18 million people tuned in to watch these dramatic scenes, which saw a huge plane crash kill four people in the village of Beckindale, which was then renamed Emmerdale in the wake of the disaster.
Karl and Sarah’s affair, 1997 – Neighbours
youtube
Karl and Susan Kennedy had been one of the most dependable couples on Neighbours following their arrival on Ramsay Street in 1994, but all that changed when Dr Karl embarked upon an affair with his secretary Sarah Beaumont.
The pair were getting up to all sorts behind Susan’s back, but when the truth did eventually out, it culminated in this iconic soap slap, which we can still feel two decades on.
Kevin and Natalie’s affair, 1997 – Coronation Street
youtube
Much like their counterparts Down Under, Corrie’s Kevin and Sally Webster’s marriage appeared to be unbreakable prior to Natalie Horrocks’ arrival on t’cobbles.
But Kevin soon fell for the charms of the new Rovers landlady, and while it had initially started as a no-strings arrangement, Natalie later convinced Kevin to leave Sally for him, resulting in one of soap’s most infamous scraps.
The first pre-watershed female same-sex kiss, 1994 – Brookside
youtube
Five years after EastEnders aired soapland’s first same-sex kiss between Barry Clark and Colin Russell, Brookside aired a landmark moment for LGBTQ+ representation.
The moment saw Beth Jordache and Margaret Clemence lock lips on the Channel 4 soap, in what marked the first time a female same-sex kiss had aired before the watershed on British TV.
Kim’s exit, 1999 – Emmerdale
youtube
To say Kim Tate’s original stint in Emmerdale was eventful would be somewhat of an understatement, so when her reign as the village’s resident villain came to an end in 1999, bosses had to come up with a fitting ending.
Having let husband Steve take the fall for both of their roles in a botched heist, she stole back the money from her former stepson Chris Tate and left him for dead – although not before telling him about her role in his father’s death some years prior.
A smirking Kim then strode out of Home Farm and took off for a new life in a waiting helicopter with son Jamie.
Curly and Raquel’s relationship, 1995-96 – Coronation Street
youtube
Soap bosses created one of Corrie’s most iconic couples ever when they had the stroke of genius to pair up two of the show’s comedic characters, Rovers barmaid Raquel Wolstenhulme and supermarket manager Curly Watts.
While their relationship certainly served up plenty of comedic moments over the years, it wasn’t without its tests, especially when Raquel broke off their engagement to be with Des Barnes.
Ultimately, it didn’t prove to be true love for the couple, with Raquel leaving Curly to accept an aromatherapy job in Kuala Lumpur in 1996 when Sarah Lancashire quit the show.
Saskia’s murder, 1999 – EastEnders
youtube
After Steve Owen’s ex-girlfriend Saskia Duncan tried to strangle him in the office of the e20 club, he accidentally killed her by hitting her over the head with an ashtray.
After Matthew Rose helped the club owner cover up her death, Steve later fit him up to take the fall and he was later convicted of manslaughter.
The plot spilled over into the new millennium after Matthew was released from prison and plotted revenge on Steve.
Hayley’s arrival, 1998 – Coronation Street
youtube
In another huge soap first, Coronation Street introduced British soap’s first-ever trans character when Hayley Cropper arrived in Weatherfield in 1998.
While actor Julie Hemondhalgh has admitted since she left the soap in 2014 that she would not accept a trans role as a cisgender woman now, Hayley’s introduction was still regarded as a huge step forward for trans visibility on screen at the time, and the beloved factory worker helped pave the way for other trans soap characters, including Hollyoaks’ Sally St. Claire and EastEnders’ Kyle Slater – both trans roles that were given to trans actors.
Tiffany dies, 1998 – EastEnders
youtube
This New Year’s Eve death scene stunned fans as Frank Butcher mowed down Tiffany Mitchell in one of his dodgy motors, just as she was finally ready to escape her abusive relationship with husband Grant.
While we grieved Tiff, Martine McCutcheon went on to much bigger things, starring in the festive classic Love Actually alongside Hugh Grant in 2003.
The body under the patio, 1993 – Brookside
youtube
Perhaps Brookside’s most memorable storyline aired in 1993, when the abusive Trevor Jordache was murdered by his tormented wife Mandy.
Mandy and her daughter Beth, who Trevor had also abused, later ended up burying his body under the patio in their back garden, where it stayed undiscovered for two years.
It was only when a leak meant the area needed to be dug up that Trevor’s body was discovered by Eddie Banks.
Mark’s HIV diagnosis, 1991 – EastEnders
youtube
In a landmark soap storyline aimed to tackle the stigma around HIV and AIDs, Mark Fowler was diagnosed with the HIV virus.
Viewers saw Mark coming to terms with the diagnosis and telling his loved ones, as well as depicting the ignorance and discrimination he faced from some Albert Square residents, including Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell.
Bet’s exit, 1995 – Coronation Street
youtube
It was truly the end of a soap era when the iconic Bet Lynch left t’cobbles, seemingly for good, back in 1995.
The leopard print-loving, chain-smoking landlady of the Rovers Return handed over the keys to the pub after finding out the brewery was selling up.
Her exit came before a falling out with Rita Tanner, who had initially agreed to help Bet buy the pub outright, but when Rita pulled out, it ended their friendship – something they failed to patch up during Bet’s subsequent brief returns to The Street in 2002 and 2003.
