I probably won't have time to post tomorrow so this is an anniversary post in advance, tomorrow marks
1. the 28th anniversary of when the paramedic boss told Liz to try and talk Josh into going to counselling because she was the only person he'd listen to, thereby enabling her "I'm all he's got" complex
2. the fourth anniversary of when a butterfly (Debbie Webster) flapped its wings (was stuck in the bistro freezer) leading me to my current Liz Harker obsession

Felt like sharing this Johnrik hurt/comfort fic fragment I’ve had for literally 3 and a half years and still haven’t done anything with. Because I’m fond of it, and to semi-make up for having barely written anything over the past year or so. (I picture this as their younger selves, Trinidad era when the squad are all living together, but I suppose you could picture it with their older selves too.)
I hope to work it into a proper fic someday, but I’ve been saying that for 3 years and IDK if or when I’ll ever actually get round to it, so for now here it is on its own:
John is where Henrik left him - lying on the sofa, a blanket draped over him. The only difference is John is clinging to the blanket even tighter than he was before.
“John?” Henrik says softly, his voice almost a whisper. “C’mon, it’s time for dinner.”
John just whimpers and curls in on himself.
“I know you’re listening to me, John. Come on. You can’t let this… whatever it is… you can’t let it win.”
John shakes his head.
“I know, I know,” Henrik murmurs. And he does; John may not have said a word, but it’s easy to see that he’s tired and has no energy to fight anymore. “But you need to eat.”
John curls up and closes his eyes.
“Come on, I’ll help you up,” Henrik reaches out and grasps John’s hand.
