Today was an important day for kaede, she had a very important recital she had to play in and so you being the good partner you are decided to help her with the things she had to do to prepare

You helped her pick out a fancy dress, complimenting her on how beautiful she looked, and heard her practice the song she had to play one last time, just like you had done during all the week, she played beautifully like always and you were so proud of her

About 30 minutes before the scheduled recital you decided to check on her going to her room

"Hey kaede are you ready? We're supposed to go now"

"O-oh yeah y/n don't worry I'm almost done"

You saw her trying to put on make up in front of her mirror

"OK then I'll go wai-"

"Wait sorry babe, could you help me with something?"

"Uh? Sure what?"

"Could you brush my hair? I forgot to and now I don't know if I have time to do it well"

"O-oh sure"

You picked up the hairbrush from the nearby table and started combing kaede's hair while she continues putting her makeup on, you were a bit nervous as this was the first time you would be doing something like that and you were scared of messing up her hair before such an important event, that was until you heard her voice encouraging you

"You're doing great"

"Hm?"

"I can see it in the mirror, you're doing an amazing job with my hair"

"It's nothing love"

You smiled now much more confident in what you were doing and kept on brushing her hair until you noticed something weird happening

As soon as kaede looked up in the mirror she blushed seeing that her ahoge had formed into a heart

"Ehhh......n-no...I....can't say it ever did that before"

You chuckled and continued brushing her hair

"Well maybe it's another sign that you love me a lot"

After you finished with the brushing, you put the brush aside

"So what do you think?"

"My hair looks wonderful thank you so much"

"Does it? I think it looks the same as always"

Kaede got up from the chair and looked into your eyes

"Thanks so much my love"

You two kissed for a while before your girlfriend grabbed your hand and led you outside

"Come on let's go now, I made sure to book a special seat for you, I hope you'll like my performance"

You groggily rubbed your eyes and looked towards your girlfriend who was still stretching and yawning

Now that she mentioned it your gaze drifted to her hair and you saw that they were completely down

"Why?"

"Cause I just woke up and don't feel like doing it myself"

"I'm tired, i just woke up too"

You sighed and got behind her

"Knew it would work"

Sora started to dig in her skirt pocket before handing you her red hair tie

"Here you go"

"Thanks"

You grabbed the object she handed to you and started to tie her white hair in the long ponytail you usually saw her with

"I guess it's cause I usually don't let it down often"

"It looks really pretty though"

After you finished tying her hair sora stroked her ponytail before smiling and turning around to face you

"It looks great"

"Thank you, I just did it as I usually see you styling it"

After saying that sora pressed herself against you before passionately pulling you into a kiss

You walked in teruko's dorm and you saw it was......messy at best, a lot of the stuff was dumped on the floor and all of the drawers were completely open with most of the stuff inside scattered carelessly

But perhaps the most surprising thing you saw there was teruko.....more specifically the fact that she had her hair down something you rarely saw

Teruko nodded and sighed before resuming her search on the floor. She looked over the same spots again before turning around and being surprised by finding you crawling on the floor too

"Helping you look for your hair tie"

Teruko blinked in surprise before smiling slightly

"Thank you"

Eventually you did find her hair tie, in a place teruko swore to have checked at least three times but she just chalked it up to her luck

"Thanks a lot y/n"

"It's nothing"

"So.....can you give me the hair tie?"

"Why don't I help you tie your hair?"

"Hm?"

"You struggled finding the hair tie so why don't I help you in this?"

Teruko blushed but nodded at your suggestion

"O-ok"

You smiled and started to do just that with her brown hair, but before finishing you looked closer at the end of the ponytail you had just made and noticed the grayish white lower part of her hair

"Oh yeah I forgot this part of your hair was white, did you dye it?"

"........n-no it's natural"

"Really?"

".......yeah"

You noticed her voice was weirdly shakey when talking about that, or maybe it was simply because of the closeness so you decided to not pursue the matter anymore

"OK it is done"

Teruko moved to look at herself in the mirror and then at you

"Thanks again"

"Don't mention it, and also here"

"Hm?"

You handed her another hair tie very similar to the one she now had

"......why?"

"Just in case you lose another one, come to me and I'll get you more if you want"

She blushed again at how nice you were

"N-no I'll just be more careful"

"....ok, if you say so and if you need more help with your hair call me"

You got up and tied her hair back into the familiar ponytail, but before you could tell her you were finished, she turned around side, hugged you, and took a selfie of the two of you

i saw like 2-3 thumbnails going ‘why maomao is better than frieren’ and ‘frieren vs maomao: female protag stuff’ and im very miffed about it as someone who watched both. because the only similarity is theyre autistic and they have the same body type. that is genuinely all they have in common. and their stories are vastly different as well!

frieren

ok so for one thing, frieren establishes in ep1 that she wants to get a better understanding of humans and maybe live a bit more similarly to humans as well. she realized early on in the story that there is something that she wants and there is something that she is, and in order to get what she wants in a way satisfactory for her, she MUST change accordingly.

maomao

maomao doesnt change much in apothecary diaries because she is already a well-rounded person who doesnt need to improve because she is good at caring for others while also remaining wholly herself. the main difference we see in her is how group perception of her changes throughout the story.

the stories and how they differ

frieren: beyond journeys end is an anime meant to be about self discovery. no character is meant to already have completed every character arc. and apothecary diaries establishes that everyone has a role to play and mostly everyone (side eyeing jinshi) has already grown into their role as they need to, no character arcs required. it focuses more on how the already established things work together. its kind of similar to the getting together tag vs established relationship tag. there isnt as much work to be done to get to some points because while it focuses on some character arcs, it also says that ‘this person has that role. this person can do x and y, and with help they can also accomplish z.’ frieren: beyond journeys end doesnt focus on roles as much and its primarily because they dont focus on the supporting cast as much as apothecary diaries does. and thats because theyre following a character arc rather than ‘day in the life of serving a concubine/eunuch (depending on the episode)’

Tawnypelt’s whole situation drives me insane why did they have to massacre tigerheartstar to do it man!! He’d never act like this!! He took his son seriously when he shared what he thought was starclan visions, he defended him, why would he not do that for his mother?? Everything we’ve seen him of him prior would suggest he’d do anything for his family. Even the Birchfeather nonsense I can kind of wave away as making sense with his character if I squint, but ‘Nuh uh shut up about the prophecy MOM’ is just comically evil of him for no reason. Yknow what feels ether most Odd actually. It’s if you put the blurb for this third book after the first one, you could very easily say they’d come directly after each other. Absolutely Nothing changes between the second and third books based off their blurbs!! So basically Tawnypelt flounders around with nobody taking her seriously for an entire book!!! Either Hidden Moon and or Chasing Shadows are gonna be a dragggg with nothing happening, unless the Erins discover how to write interesting interactions and character moments

ive been replaying kh1 (going thru the whole series on steam since i never got the chance to play all the games) and i was struck by something a bit odd. i have been dyinggg to talk about it

it's about kairi and her past.

i don't think she's a replica or construct necessarily

but in kh2 there's a parallel drawn between her and sally in halloween town; and the same i think could be true in kh1.

sally is a Frankenstein monster/doll made by the doctor. the entire plot of Halloween town centers around the need for the dr to make a "heart" which requires memories from Sally (the scene of her picking the forget me nots looks a lot like kairi holding a flower for aqua too)

sora takes interest in the project to restore a heart to the heartless too because of his desire to restore Kairi's heart.

i havent really come up with a coherent thought about what this means.

but given that we know kairi was experimented on in a way that involved her heart, it just seems suspicious that this parallel was made twice to her and a doll that was stitched together and animated by a mad scientist.

shes also compared to chirithy in kh3, which from my understanding were created by MoM for keyblade weilders; and to Pooh, who is a toy/story book character that came to life

given too that Kairi already has a weird thing going on with her heart, it just seems possible that theres something..more to it that i have yet to piece together. and its driving me crazy

NO, WAIT… ANON YOU’RE COOKING. Idk what it all means either, but those parallels are so good and so true. Cause there definitely is something artificial about Kairi’s heart, even if just partially. It was experimented on, like you said, and it looks completely different than the organic hearts we see, and I suspect that’s why we’ve never seen Kairi’s heart station. Because it’s (at least partially) artificial. It would look totally different than all the other heart stations and would probably give away what’s going on.

as someone who isnt super excited for sotm for certain reasons I am really glad that like. it's clear that since ruin theyve been setting up for carnival and sotm IS carnival. so now that carnival is finally coming out, afterwards theyll be moving on to other plotlines since the main villain stuff is sorted out

I'm just rlly happy to finally see a clear direction for how the story is gonna be playing out with like "okay these games were leading up to this so after this will be open possibilites" instead of like. absolutely no info about each upcoming game and being left guessing before it releases and just having to wait and see what's in it and if anything you're looking forward to will be in it

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

Right, so I've been mulling on this one for a little bit now, n I'm not opposed to writing something for you, I'm just not... entirely sure what to write? Because the thing is, myhouse.wad doesn't actually really have anything to do with Doom as a story. Sure, Doom is important in that it's the vessel through which the story is told and one of the connections between the narrator and his dead companion. But as far as Doom itself goes, and the story about a man who was too angry/stupid to die, fighting demons and saving earth, none of that is at all relevant to myhouse.wad and its story. For all intents and purposes, Doomguy isn't actually a character in myhouse.wad. So I'm not really sure how exactly to fit him in there.

a large amount of time I've been spending on -untitled undefined scope original fiction project- since the last time I posted about it has been trying to develop the protagonist concept I came up with last summer or whatever into like, a character that would feel real and era appropriate.

it's fun research to do. naturally a lot of the details I assigned to her are things that I already think are cool, so it's been a lot of fun trying to trace her traits back through the relatively recent past, getting reminded of how much things have changed, or where the gaps in my intuition are, and then doing a flurry of reading to get a sense for exactly how someone like her and the people around her could have happened and what her life was probably like leading up to her present day. hopefully this results in some good good verisimilitude.
