And when I said we shouldn’t y’know, believe everything we see and that I could easily just bring up the rumors I heard about him being racist and being rude to maids at the White House or whatever but we’ll never know what this kid is like and we shouldn’t be making these romanticized fantasies of him

So this girl whose URL was @.Roseslie who was the ring leader of all of this conjured up a hate campaign against me and tried to tell everyone that I was racist because my pfp and muse at the time was a black edit of Bakugo from MHA because this was the time everyone on twitter was doing black edits and stuff of anime and games and me and my friend who’s actually a moot on here were doing blasian edits of MHA characters and headcanoning some characters as black or blasian

So this girl tried to tell all her followers to report me because I was a racist hate monger who was so racist that I made Bakugou black because he was the most aggressive and mean character and that I was promoting harmful racial stereotypes and that I should be deleted when I made Bakugou black in my edit because he was my favorite character at the time when I was invested in MHA and me and my friend wanted to match and she was Denki because this is when that Bakusquad stuff was going on and we were having fun with those two and it doesn’t matter

So someone sent me a message telling me that Roseslie is spreading a hate campaign about me and telling people to report me and get me deleted for racism and that she had a tendency to go on these hate campaigns towards people who either crossed her or she plain didn’t like and had gotten a lot of people deleted in the past because this is back when Quotev didn’t monitor hate mobs and didn’t yet start punishing those who started them, that started happening like a few months later a

before i start, i want it to be clear that this is not confirmed. however, he has a history of doing fake anons to himself and to his (ex) moots from what i learned to either start drama, topics, or fw them so he can act as a supporter or victim if he sent the anon to himself. and this is NOT me jumping on the rashad toxic gossip train of tumblr 2023 but this type of behavior is disgusting and inexcusable. i am very convinced that it was him and want to share it to you all while leaving it open to criticism and speculation but PLEASE be careful and pick up the warning signs with these people from everyone coming out with stories about him.

me snd rashad became moots after he noticed me like a post of his i think. his first inbox to me was him trying to do self promo for a fic of his he was writing which i thought was odd and a little weird so i ignored it but he ended up continuing to inbox me random things (which i don’t generally mind) so we ended up building some mutual association or sum on here.

however, around 9-10 days ago, rashad had got “sent” something in his inbox about afro latinos. this was the ask:

now, i am not going to invalidate afro latinos who have experienced this. as a latino, i have experienced prejudice but that is never comparable to a black latino or a black person in general who is mixed/has another ethnic group of origin. these things are said to people and have been said to me in a different context. however, this ask was directly after he had posted it and on top of that it simply is not something someone would say as an ask. i don’t know how to describe it, but it’s too directed, crafted in a way that it’s wording seems like someone trying to be racist, and so on. we had never talked one on one either so i was confused when i first saw he had tagged me in a post since i hadn’t seen what it was about yet. i don’t know how to describe it but there’s something in the wording and just the context of it all that made this ask so in genuine almost as if it was something he had asked himself on another account.

i of course reblogged and said my peace and now disgusting and ignorant it was because afro latinos are a minority even in their own community because of generationally taught racism from colonization and just our traditional way of life and teaching stripped from us and our culture. but at the time, i had no idea of his “track record” of doing this type of thing or even the drama he was getting messy with behind what everyone knew of him.

i wanna say this as it’s very important as to what i have to show next. i am not black. i have never stated that and my day one followers and moots know that i have black family and in fact most of my relatives are afro latino but i, myself, am a lightskin latina which is something i feel i have always made known at least in sum damn context clues. i also want to add that this took place september 18th and that’s alway really important to the story.

ok now lemme get into why this is even a post.

shortly after this, i had gotten sick and ended up going on a break from just the internet in general because i needed to rest my ass up before even doin a thing like school and writing n allat. i was gone for around 3-4 days. so this post was long “old” or at least not being seen by anyone. and the thing is my spam posts never get hella reblogs unless i add hashtags or say something that makes everyone and they mama wanna join in on the conversation. so tell me why, exactly three days later, around the day i came back, i receive this in my inbox:

i had not seen this the first day i came back because my inbox was flooded with my actives rambling to me, compliments, requests, etc until yesterday morning when i was taking the time to reply to some stuff and it had come up. i was gagged like this language was so vile, nasty, ignorant, and dumb as fuck. why? for starters, i am not afro latino or black. me and others believe that rashad was under the impression that by the few posts he saw of me talking about the issue that he just assumed i was afro latino as well. i am not and people that follow me from long before all this know that.

and like let’s really read the text and what it says because it’s speaking about black latinos not being latino because they have no “true” spanish or indigenous blood, which is something that this man is always talking about and presents, to me, as an insecurity (a valid one DONT get it twisted) as a afro latino. he, or “anon,” goes on to call me the n word with the hard r multiple times and tells me i should have stayed a slave and then goes on to bring up taino ancestors (my ancestors) which i just found beyond disrespectful and crossing a big ass fucking line. im not sure if im describing this well, but just by the way that these anon asks are worded they seem very “fake” as in not that this couldn’t happen or hasn’t been told to anyone, but it doesn’t feel organic and just feels like forced racist comics to give you content.

he also texted me for the first time in tumblr dms the same day as this post or the day after the ask was sent to me, i believe, so coincidence or not …

i am 85% sure this is rashad.

to me, it feels like he did this as a way to maybe validate how he feels as a afro latino with other mixed latin im him since afro latinos face so much prejudice. however, to seek validation by doing an anon to yourself about your own post to get others to hype you up and validate YOUR ethnicity is completely unhealthy especially in this way. THIS was vile. THIS was uncalled for and beyond einstein level comprehension skills. THIS is inappropriate and a sign you shouldn’t be on tumblr.

rashad has been involved in a lot of drama public and not and has a constant thing to blame it on his “episodes” and such. while i think that self diagnosing is valid because people, especially poc, can’t get proper mental care rn, to state it as a fact is something that self diagnosers do not do and acknowledge it isn’t right. even so, it is not valid to blame bad behavior on your mental health. and even if you did “take accountability,” in your so called apologies rashad, you go from saying you don’t use your mental health as an excuse but at the same time use it in that context for why you shouldn’t get hate and we should all stop criticizing you and your actions because it should all be forgivable in a way where we can just move on with no consequences.

yes, rashad does suffer from mental illnesses or some type/types of mental issues whether they are underlying or not but the problem is that the internet is literally his scapegoat from this and is feeding into his problems which is why he does the anons, the posts putting people on blast, etc. if you have not seen he has taken this drama from tumblr to discord to instagram. but it is clear he does not feel any microscopic ounce of guilt or genuine sorry in this specific situation. he says he’s “acting like the big person” but goes to attack people who tried to talk some sense into him in his petty onika miraj type posts sayin shit about shoving ice dildos into peoples puss puss and sneak dissin mfs who have a right to see what he’s doing when he is continuing to be petty in the heat of this whole thing by talkin abt people.

he’s struggling with so much and the internet is not for him and it shows in the way he handles confrontation, parasocial relations w people online, and how he copes with his issues by running to tumblr or any other social media. he has stated before he is an ex manipulator and so on and a place like this is not where he needs to be. so do not feed into the anons he sends, do not feed into the petty and compulsive posts he puts together, and just don’t interact with him. he needs to find his own inner peace on some preacher to the church type shit like this a tyler perry movie and not effect those around him with his own internal mess.

so don’t take this as me trying to like ride off this situation or just me saying these things just because all my moots or in it and i wanna be involved on some nosy bitch shit. but something like this is very serious and i was gonna be quiet on my suspicion but something as disgusting as this being said to me and not put on some blast by my classy ass just didn’t feel right. do not go to his page like he his “gone” just take this in a way to educate yourself on the typa person he is and as an example of why you shouldn’t get emotionally attacked to the internet or get involved with people like this.

pay attention to how ppl act and the red flags so you can just cut them off and save y’all both the “i survived” trauma. again, this isn’t confirmed (the racism post) because i have no way to prove it but he has a history of it and i just wanted to come out with this because it made me uncomfortable and disgusted.

Okie long ass rant about celebrity culture. Sorry if I seem incoherent andndnfn

I hate it when people try to frame criticising celebrity culture as "worrying about rich white people's feelings" (or in the case of Chappell Roan, rich white woman bc everyone knows that if you throw "rich and white" in front of "woman" then you can't be mysgonystic/s) and act all "Why should I care about what billionares "suffer", huh? People have real struggles"

Celebrity culture and the way people with any form of public presence are treated is NOT a "rich people problem." It is not the equivalent to "aww shame the healthcare CEOs are so scared now" or "Aww shame she can't get a fourth yacht"

Celebrity culture is dangerous, predatory, and puts people's lives in danger. Celebrity culture is a feeling of entitlement to every little piece of somebody, and feeling entitled to judge what their beliefs are or make claims about them regardless of the truth or how they feel.

Most importantly, celebrity culture no longer affects only celebrities or the rich. Now, with the internet, it affects anyone with any kind of online presence at all. Not just YouTubes, not just influencers, literally just anyone. You can go viral even if you don't have online accounts, but because someone made a video of you and posted it online without permission. You could be living off nothing but foodstamps. You could just be a slightly popular tumblr blog, and you will still be a victim (because yes, how rich they are is irrelevant, people who deal with this are victims too) of celebrity culture.

Literally not so long ago, one of my moots was dealing with random people screenshotting her liked posts and then posting about it. Someone I follow was dealing with entitled anons not listening to their rules and simply demanding more content regardless of their wishes. Another mutual of mine was doxxed a year or two ago for being "problematic"

Those are all symptoms of the sickness that is celebrity culture. It is not "loving rich people", it is not "just asking questions" or "Just wanting to meet your idol." Celebrity culture is the masses feeling entilted to someone's time, thoughts, feelings, and body because they are public in some way or another, and if the victim tries to set basic boundaries or take legal action, they are are called hysterical, ungrateful, entilted, and unfit for being in the public eye.

Celebrity culture is people believing you deserve to be doxxed and stalked and sent death threats if you do not comply with their moral standards. Yes, cancel culture is another symptom of celebrity culture. Celebrity culture is wanting anyone in the public eye to be perfect in all ways (physically, emotionally, mentally, and "morally"), or else they will be dragged through the mud. Celebrity culture is having your mental and physical health being brushed aside to please the masses.

And sure, rich people won't really be hurt by the moral outrage side or the fact that they supposedly committed a crime (at least, if they're white men most of the time) But celebrity culture no longer does and never again will apply to only the rich and famous (note: the "and". Some people are rich but not famous and vice versa, or some people are both).

Those who can't afford to just go "oh well" and carry on when they come under fire online?? Those who can't just resign or retire when they fuck up or when their company's dirty laundry is aired out? Those who are falsely accused of or framed for crimes? They're being denied jobs or being fired because the online controversy could make the company they work for look bad. They're being deemed guilty because we live in a culture of pop psychology and ableism and trial by media.

Mr Luigi? We still don't know if he actually did it. But he's still been put on a pedestal, he's still had all of his social media leaked and his tastes in music used to judge his character, he's still had people commenting on his body and he's still had people writing fanfic about him and treating him like he's undeniably guilty. Or in this case "not guilty, a hero"

"Haha nobody's helping the police fuck them" Actually you are ALL helping the police. How? By deeming him as guilty and treating him like the shooter from the start. All those points about ACAB and how police treat suspects have flown out the window. All thoughts of innocent unless proven guilty have evaporated. Everyone fucking ate up those pictures published by the cops that are specifically orchestrated to try and make the guilty person look scary and unhinged.

The police may not have tips, they may not have proper evidence or public support, but they do have millions of people calling Luigi a hero and proudly proclaiming he IS the shooter.

But apparently if you tell people to stop treating him like a prop or movie character and actually think of how much fucking danger Luigi and his family are in right now, then you're on the CEO's side and a bad person/s

Those who just happened to be involved in a famous event or accident and are now famous by association? Victims of famous people? Children of famous people? They live their lives in constant fear or harassment from the press and now, of course, people online. Now they have to be stalked and harassed and called liars by obsessive fans who believe their idol can do no wrong (again, because of celebrity culture)

Does that mean celebrities can do no wrong? Of course not! Some of them do vile, horrible things and get off scot free. But you'll notice they don't get off lightly just because of money. They get off lightly because of celebrity culture and people's pathological need for the person they idolise and have a parasocial attachment to, to be perfect, so they either defend the celeb in question or act like they did no wrong. Even if it does benefit some celebrities sometimes, celebrity culture is STILL bad. Celebrity culture hurts EVERYONE involved.

Let's take Hawktuah girl as another example. I couldn't care less if she's "problematic" now, the fact that she got famous from a video soemone ELSE took and posted of her making a sex joke while drunk and was then stalked and harassed and nearly doxxed and asked for nudes is vile. The fact that she felt her dad had to get his gun because of people following her and trying to look into her house is terrifying. And yet... people just say "Well she shouldn't have let the video be posted if she didn't want online attention." Or "Who cares she's milking the joke now" or "Well she did this problematic thing so she deserves it actually"

And doesn't that make you raise your eyebrows? Since when does "Hey, don't treat me like a cardboard cutout, treat me like a human" make someone entitled? Why do people have to give up basic respect and privacy and safety to be "famous"? Why are we saying they "signed up for it" when clearly it shouldn't even be something to sign up for in the first place?

I'm tired of people dismissing celebrity culture when its impact is everywhere. People relying on famous singers for their political choices. People asking celebrities loaded political questions without giving them the chance to research and understand the topic and then judging their morals and intelligence based on their answer.

People being stalked and harassed and then shamed for retaliating. YouTubers or just anyone online being doxxed because they did something "bad." People being expected to be held responsible for their fans or other people's morals. People having to wrangle their fans and stop being from behaving like animals.

People dehumanising others and viewing them as just an idol or a brand or fictional being. Like when they refer to actors by the name of a character they played (Rest in peace Andre Braugher, I'm sorry for people just saying "Wow rip Captain Holt" "Jake must miss him now" or worse, people saying "ACAB" under posts about him because he *checks notes* played a fictional cop like that actually does anything to help anti police at all. Rest in peace for the many many actors who were killed over the character they played)

Celebrity culture is what gets people killed. It's what gets them assaulted and stalked. The stories of famous actors or singers who have been killed or assaulted by fans are countless, and right now there are many more stories of some random person suffering similar fates because nobody understands boundaries and sees no issue with thrusting people into the online spotlight or blatantly violating their rights.

JJJacks films made fun of Sniperwolf and her reaction was to go to his house, record it and post it online, and threaten him and his family. And yet people either defend her or say "Well, she didn't do anything illegal ig" or wonder why Jack is "scared of a tiny woman like that"

The laws that are violated in order to get the "inside scoop" on famous people are many, but are often brushed aside because "Well, they're famous" "Well, that's journalism" And that's with existing laws.

Current laws have not even caught up with the online world. I feel that's obvious. There are shockingly sparse rules about online behaviour and online businesses. There is shockingly little restriction on the advertisements that are shoved in people's faces and their predatory or just explicit nature. The laws around the information that businesses and companies can acquire from their customers are shockingly lax. The laws around spreading dangerous misinformation (e.g covid) are shockingly non-existent

Nobody understands why taking pictures or videos of someone even "in a public space" should be illegal, nobody understands why revealing someone's location online is bad, despite the fact that barely ten years ago everyone had it drilled into them that even revealing your age or country of origin is stupid and incredibly unsafe. Nobody understands why letting politicians just spew whatever on their social media is a problem (unless of course it's a politician they don't like)

Why did things change? Why do people demand your age, or view you as a bad person with bad intentions for "lying about/hiding things"?

Well, partially because celebrity culture started sneaking in and leaking through the cracks, and now "online safety" has become something immediately associated with either children or control freaks and gatekeepers.

Now those actors and actresses and singers and dancers and artists have even less privacy. At the very least, in ye old days the most information you got from them is interviews or journalists with an either fake or illegally required "inside scoop." or by following them around like the pack of vultures the press (and fans) are.

Now, though? Might as well live like you're in the 1950s if you don't want every single thing you say or text (even in private messages) scraped up and spat out online for everyone to see and then happily let themselves play judge, jury, and executioner.

Queer creators or celebrities have been forcibly outed or forced to out themselves by fans who think they're lying about their identity, are talking about a topic they don't have the "right" to talk about, or because they just think they can "headcanon" real people. Every idiot who does this seems to forget that regardless of status, being outed as queer can put people in legitimate danger.

Of course, this problem has spread from people like actors to the general problem, too.

Online, everyone has a public presence of some kind. Even on an "anonymous" site like tumblr, you can build a following and become popular. You can have people admire you or think you're cool even if you just post silly memes all day.

The harmful celebrity culture that formed because of royalty and Hollywood and politicians and so much more transfered to the online space. That sense of entiltement, that encouragement of parasocial relationships, began to fester and became aimed at random people just trying to have fun online.

The mentality of "consume and demand more" crawled into the spaces where people made art or wrote stuff for fun. People formed parasocial relationships with "guy who plays videogames" and "person who draws Link fanart".

"Why has tumblr etiquette been abandoned now?" "Why don't people leave comments or reblog anymore?" "Why do people demand more from artists while disrespecting them and their boundaries?' "Why do people think people being online is a free ticket to being a cruel asshole?"

Celebrity culture. Celebrity culture. Celebrity. Culture.

Celebrity culture is tied into consumerism and greed and purity culture and the demand for more. The topic is very nuanced, and everything links into each other some way somehow. Like celebrities being expected be brands rather than humans, especially online, in order to avoid the risk of losing support and, most importantly, sales.

This expectation (which even fans and the general public subconsciously have) as well the many many puritan ideologies that influenced what is expected of a "brand", or "leading example" is part of what caused the online space to be so hostile.

If you create anything, it is now a product. A free product, but a product nonethless. It will be consumed, and then people will demand more while treating you like a product making machine and expect you to hold a certain moral standard to earn their "support" The product must be acceptable and palatable.

Everyone online must be shining pillars or morality. Make sure to be good and "child friendly." You'll notice channels with huge sponsors like Game Theory or Mr Beast will avoid swearing and promoting "bad things" to keep their audience and sponsors, even if they have videos that cover horror games or stuff like "Squid Game in real life"

Make sure not hurt or taint minors. (Which as we all know, often means "don't be queer." Because queer is seen as morally bad and harmful to "the children" Think of the children, guys!/s)

Don't write or draw anything bad unless you have an all caps bright red disclaimer saying minors mustn't interact and that you don't support it in real life (and even then, the disclaimer is ignored most of the time anyways)

You must remember to include as many people, situations, and exceptions as possible in your random post, even if what you're saying doesn't need that.

Basically, whenever you have an opinion or thought, be a brand. Make the statement as broad and inclusive as possible in order to avoid "excluding" people and being "bad." Make your point in as nice and friendly a way as possible, and if you can't well, you'll probably be seen as a hateful trashbag. Is your point about human rights being denied? Too bad, you gotta be grovel and make your statement as palatable as possible. Though it'll probably be twisted around anyway, so don't say anything at all.

And, of course, now that everyone can have an online presence, everyone can be a product or brand too. No longer are celebrities the only people having a camera shoved in their faces. Now everyone can whip out their phone and start recording whoever they want whenever they want. They need those clicks after all. Everyone can have every personal detail revealed by someone else because everyone is a celebrity in some way.

And yes, even the revealing people as queer thing applies here. Once again it's done by idiots who view people as "hot tea" or think others identities are their business and must be known at all times in order to not be "suspicious," or, in their privilege, forget that many people are beaten, kicked out, or killed for being queer or can legally be executed or imprisoned for being queer in their countries.

Anyways yeah, celebrity culture is a far deeper problem than most people realise, and it's entangled with a ton of other problems that contribute to the current online space and how unsafe and hostile it else. It cannot be dismissed as a rich people problem. I felt the need to make a post about it.

And please, do not derail this post and try to talk about exceptions and whatnot. Don't go, "I agree, but x celebrity can go to hell." Don't go "Agreed but y celebrity can do no wrong." By doing that, you are missing my point and actively contributing to the poison that is celebrity culture. Do not place celebrities on a pedestal.

I honestly hope that this hellsite doesn’t kick the bucket anytime soon.

Like for the first time in a long while, I have found my people and space where I can just be me with other people outside of close irl friends and my family. In school I longed to find someone who shared the exact same amount of passion for the things I loved and I found it here. I chose to come here because all other social media sites felt like a god damn shitshow in regards to drama and all other stuff. I don’t feel like tons of eyes are watching me and judging me for things way out of my control.

Also as an intermediate artist I’ve found that Tumblr isn’t as nasty as other sites. Like on tiktok, you’ll have random people giving unwanted criticism and then bully you for your art style and call it “art lore” when it’s not up to their standards. This hellsite had its era of making fun of young artists. Yeah there might still be some hate but I rarely see it. I was so nervous after posting my first piece of fanart to the internet and seeing all the support and love for something I made, made me really happy cause I’ve always been shy about my work and sharing it with other people and seeing love and support means so much to me.

Also I would hate to lose all my moots. You are all so important to me no matter how little we talked. I won’t know where else to find you as this is the only site I’m on. Despite how parasocial our relationships are, you are all my kindred spirits. The same sentiment applies to all my followers. You are all amazing and I parasocially love you and think you’re cool.

✨HIIIIIII newcomers from Twitter✨

So, on Twitter I've seen a screenshot of a tumblr post with a whole list of rules that are - I'm sorry for using crude words but - bullshit, for the most part. So I was thinking, hey. Why not make a "how does tumblr works" with actually useful stuff in it. A non exhaustive list though, cause I haven't all night.

Introducing myself quickly first: I'm Keagan, I'm on Tumblr since 2012 (Twitter user since 2013), I have seen the best and the worst, I've been there for the first mishapocalypse, the great Sherlock s4 depression, and I was here when dicks and boobs where roaming the website freely and when the anti-boobs bot flagged everyone randomly. I took a sort of sabbatical after 2017 bc of the Sherlock depression, and the fandom kinda falling apart, and also bc I have a irl life that started to get interesting around that time, but I still came back regularly from time to time until now.

I know how this goddamn website works and I know why we call it the blue hellsite. I've been here since the dawn of ti- no, lol, i'm joking. :')

I started off as an aesthetic blog, then it quickly turned into a social justice/aesthetic/spn fandom blog, and this blog you see this post in is my fandom side blog, the one that saw the birth of my Sherlock obsession and the beginning of my fanartist/fanfic writer carreer. This hellsite saw my queer awakening. It saw me bloom and gain in confidence and self love. It taught me love, patience, pain, and the absurd.

So. Now that's done, let's go. Those are random things in no particular order.

In case you worry about Tumblr being very different than Twitter: yes it is different but surprisingly it's actually not that different.

Any of the following points, you will figure out easily anyway by yourself, Tumblr is actually pretty simple to understand and use, and you'll catch on quickly on the little things that makes it Tumblr, the "etiquette" and all.

For the most part: you can do whatever the fuck you want, no one cares (except dumb people I guess). But do we truly need to remind people not to be assholes with others ? Don't be rude. Duh

- One thing that Tumblr post I was talking about got right is: likes don't matter in terms of visibility, reblogs are more important. Likes are a comment more than a booster. So if you want to boost a posts' visibility, esp art and fics : reblog it.

- On the other hand you won't gain much visibility if you don't get people to reblog you, and honestly while existing here is pretty easy, you'll still have better chances at being visible if you reach people. I'm on a lot of SM and here is still the easiest though so don't worry.

- You can definitely scream into the void, like, it was made for it, this is shitpost paradise

- You can add dumb & insignificant comments to posts like "omg same" or "this is so true" - literally no one cares.

- And no one cares how you call your mutuals, moots, oomfies, pals, friendz, besties, mutts, - no one.

- We do use tone indicators here too. And there's plenty room to write the full words so it's not an obligation but a suggestion from me: sometimes it's less confusing to just say "i'm half joking" than /hs.

- But you can shorten words as you like, it doesn't matter. If twitter got you used to shorten words do shorten words, no worries.

- Your Tumblr experience is closely tied to who you choose to follow or block - you can curate your dashboard/timeline just like you do on Twitter, this is pretty similar. You can and should protect yourself from unsafe people anywhere. That's basic internet safety. Don't overthink this please, if someone is making you feel unsafe and bad, it is your place: block people.

The moderation here is not that bad but not ideal. So please use all the ways you need to make this place safe for you, and don't hesitate to call for people's help. This is a social media based on community. Don't let people trick you into thinking you are wrong for blocking people - or for calling unsafe people out. We have always done that here. We protect and support each other, ok? Good.

- You can follow hashtags, pretty much like on Instagram. In my opinion it's not always working well but you can.

- You can't bookmark posts, you'll have to put in your drafts the stuff you want to check later. And you'll likely forget them there so tell them goodbye as you go.

You can make yourself a "read later" tag too. A tag that you're likely never gonna check either 🥹 Not so different than the Twitter bookmarks, you see.

- When you sign in, you create your main blog. The main blog - consider it like your account if you like - is linked to your profile, if you delete the main blog you delete your profile. You can create as many side blogs (side accounts) as you like (without using another email) and you can delete them without deleting your main account.

Sadly you still can't switch main blog and side blog to link your profile to a side blog, which I have been screaming for since this side blog became my main blog years ago 🥲🤌 this is my own "make tweets editable" cry

- If you're not familiar with blogs and how to personalise them, don't worry, there's a lot of themes you can choose that are simple to use, and the hardest thing you'll have to do is choose colors you like. If it looks hard, there is a ton of resources to help you, and most people will help you if you ask them (I will, honestly don't hesitate to hit the ask button).

Note that you do not have to touch it actually, it's just like your living room, some like it carefully decorated, others leave it at its most basic form, still usable. There is no obligation whatsoever. It's fun though.

If you like coding, you can edit the blog's code or make your own theme, which is pretty cool, I've learned some html modifying mine.

- You can ask stuff, anonymously or not, hitting the ask button on people's blogs. They will answer by a post, they can make it public. There is also a private direct messaging thingy.

- Tags work similarly than Twitter, meaning if you click on "#spn" you will see all things tagged spn - simple. There is some sorts of trends though it's not exactly the same as Twitter obviously.

But they are different in the sense that they serve also for organisational purpose: they are used to identify what's in the post, so that you can navigate blogs more easily. It's more like labelling your Tupperwares so you find them easily in your kitchen, you know what I mean ? The tags are also labels. The tagging system is also important when you set your blog up. You can put tags in the post but that's useless, the tag section is there for it.

- You can check on my blog (on web not app) to visualise it: you can add tabs and pages to your blogs: for example, let's say you want people to find your fanfics easy: you tag all your fanfic posts "fanfic"; on web, when you click then on the tag from your blog, you will have an url with "tagged/fanfic" at the end, you take that and when you create a new page on your blog (it's well explained how to do that in the settings), you use that url to create your tab. Sounds a bit complicated, just said like that, maybe but I promise it's simple. So you see the tagging system is useful to organise your blog.

You can also make pages to add information, like you would do with a carrd or a pinned tweet, you see. (You can pin a post here too). You can make it an "about me" page, or a list of your main tags, etc, whatever you like.

- Side note about tags: if you click a tag from your dashboard, you'll see all posts linked to this tag. If you click the tag from your blog, you will see all the posts you have reblogged or written - the ones that are present on your blog.

- You can communicate stuff in the tags, it's a whole extra expression space. Typically people use it to add comments they don't want people to reblog, personnal additions, remarks, rants, jokes, etc... There is no rule about not commenting whatever you like on posts but that extra space is often used for all kind of reasons.

The only thing is that back then the op wasn't notified for tags, it was pretty much a silent thing betweet you and your followers, now you can see all of them in the post's notes and notifications. So beware what you say, obviously don't be rude, and don't be alarmed if people answer to your tags, it's not so silent and discreet anymore. I kinda like reading people's tags on my posts but I prefered when mine weren't visible by everyone, to be honest lol

There is a character limit on tags, you can't actually add essays but you can write a lot (trust me). And as the comma and quotation marks "activates" the tag and separates them you can't write commas and quotation marks in the tags - I personally replace them with - or ; and ' when needed. It's something to get used to.

- Again on tags: typically, you put trigger warnings in the tags (though you'll see often posts starting with the tw, you can add both, just add them I guess), you can specify "personal" and "don't reblog" to warn people you'd like a cup of tea /i . And, not everyone does it but personally I appreciate when people tag the spoilers and specific themes, shows, characters or ships, so I can hide the posts marked with that tag.

- When tags are blocked you can still see the masked post show up in your dash, with its tags visible, which honestly is perfect bc you often get context in case you want to block words in certain contexts and not others, and if you block stuff momentarily (like spoilers) - you can still save the post to read it later without having to do it with your eyes closed.

- About discourse : of course there's discourse here, there's call out posts too, there's shit and obnoxious people just like everywhere else, don't come here with the idea that it's a heavenly place where everything is pretty and safe from all things annoying. There's discourse here too. There's bullying here too. About all sorts of subjects. (I've seen the queer slur discourse here like DAYS ago). There's shitty people here too. That's internet, contrary to what a certain post said, that's unescapable. And sure that's annoying but that's a fact of life - now you can shield yourself as much as possible by blocking people but honestly don't expect your experience to be way way different than Twitter in that aspect. Maybe less right wing old dudes bc Tumblr doesn't host the same démographic, though there was a nazi problem for a while, I don't know if they're still here tbqh, but that's overall not much much better, let's be honest.

- On your left, old time resident mr Neil Gaiman - but he answers "wait and see" to everything. /j

- Speaking of celebs, there isn't as many on Tumblr (it's said some have secret blogs but shhh 🤫), but there is often ask & answer events that are announced at the top of the dash.

- You won't be penalised for using certain words (even die or dead, the "unalive" wave doesn't crash on this shore), and you can put links if you like, even cashapp, kofi, paypal, etc, there's virtually nothing that will make you invisible in people's dashboards.

The only way you'll get shadowbanned here is if the Tumblr bots think you're a bot or a porn blog. Learn more here.

- But until recently, sorry there's a but, since the great "no tits" debacle, there's a bot that flagged your nuddity posts and it was so hilariously flawed omg (it flagged fucking DUNES I will never forget ahah) - anyway when they flag your post they hide it and you can make an appeal if needed, but honestly I don't think as much problem occured with it since a long while, that thing improved with time and the good thing is you can post artistic tits again! o/ yay

- There's virtually no character limit - there is one, but you'll need to write a long time until you hit it lol (I did once).

- Therefore : threads don't mean the same here. Here threads are successions of multiple people's comments. It makes for some interesting (and often hilarious) participative posts. Because there is no need here to cut your text into small posts, unless you are writing your memoirs or some shit. Look how much I've written already. 🫲Twitter could never. And if posts are long, you can add a "read more" button so it doesn't mean you have to scroll through gigantic blocs of text in your dash. and in the settings you can make long posts look shorter in your dash automatically.

- Related: threads aren't the same, you can't reblog/retweet a post that's in the middle of a thread. I mean, on Twitter you can RT the 1st tweet of the thread, or the 3rd, RT a reply easily - and in your TL only this one tweet appears - you can't really do that here. First of all here there is comments (or captions) and replies, those are not the same. If you want to reblog someone's comment to a post, you'll have to reblog it from their blogs - doable but honestly a bit tedious. And you will always reblog the last answer and all the ones that comes before. You reblog whole conversations, see.

So when you scroll through dash, you WILL experience mini heart attacks when seeing the 1st lines of some posts until you see the arguments that are closer to your moral standards - meaning you'll often see posts that are "shitty comment" then ten replies until you see the ones that says "wtf, it's shitty" - you need to endure the whole thing until you see stuff you agree with ahah, trust me this is FUN

- Here you don't livetweet, you liveblog. Otherwise it's the same. I'm sad I can't do both at the same time but it's equally fun on twitter and tumblr, especially for ESC.

- Like Tumblr said on Twitter: if you scroll your dash long enough you will have seen all of your friends posts. Yes.

- You can make your experience a lot better with the New XKit extension. Explaining it would take a whole ass post of its own so I'm not going to do that here but they have an account here where they explain everything, give updates and answer questions. I can only suggest to give it a look once you're familiar with how Tumblr works without it and with what doesn't work well.

- You can edit posts. You can schedule posts. Take it in 😌

You can edit them and actually - WOW - civilisation hasn't collapsed and bad people still can be held accountable for their shitty comments! Like on Facebook and Instagram too. Let it happen on Twitter, let it be the one good thing that'll happen amidst that awful chaos.

There's a twist though: you can edit your post, sure, but if someone reblogged the post before you could edit it, there will be two versions of your post in the wild. It can be a little bit frustrating. One way to avoid that: let your big and important posts sit in the drafts for a while so you can fix it before publishing it. An advice I never seem to follow.😬

- You can also change text size, font, put it in bold, italic, colour, you can make it gradiant like in Skyblog's most glorious hours, etc, and yes you can put alt text on pictures. You can add links or pictures in the middle of a post - I mean those are blog posts, so 🤷‍♀️

- The app is shit though ☆(ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ* (to be fair not as much as a few years back, honestly, but still, not ideal)(I'm using the app 🥲)

- And you can't translate posts easily, which tbh I think is a big flaw

- Tumblr is flawed but fun and it can be better, the updates are always shit, but it has well intentions and a nice staff.

Dust Flesh and Bones

I don’t listen to a ton of super long music because I do tend to get bored, but this song drew me in so entirely it was hard to move on from it.

As a Writer™️, this song brings words and images to brain that make it incredibly difficult not to want to sit down and write something to it 😭

Describing the song as an “apocalyptic sadness” truly takes the words out of my mouth—the music video, the album art, the dusty-sounding guitar, in what I can only imagine is a minor chord(?)… It makes me think of a movie opening: something western, probably, with a man laying in a creaky, uncomfortable block-of-a-bed with his cowboy hat covering his eyes, an overhead-camera circling around like a barely-working ceiling. You can just see the dust motes in the air, smell the alcohol on his breath… it’s grimy as shit, and I love it.

That’s the vibe of this song. To me, anyway. I love it. Perfect opener to a whole list of banger songs. Also, I like the idea of reading the title as “dust-flesh”, as in flesh that is dust-like in quality (because there’s no comma, to me it feels like it’s supposed to be one concept, which I think fits the overall vibe of the song as well).

As someone who does things for love (love, love), this song is beyond perfect. I will take the time now to compliment how on-the-nail your recs are, by the way, because wtf? How are these songs all so perfectly attuned to the ask 😭 That is an insane archive to have and I commend you for it 🫡

I really like that this another guitar-heavy song. It feels personal because there’s just The Mountain Goats’ voice, the strumming of the guitar, and later into the song, those weird twinkling noises idk how to describe (forgive 💔).

This is a ‘sprawled out on your bed, staring at the ceiling at 3:34 a.m’ kinda music, and I that.

The Mechanic

This is the kind of music that changes you, so I completely understand how this made you reconsider your relationship (I hope things went well in that regard, by the way!). I love singer-songwriter (if that isn’t the genre pls smack me on the head) exactly for this kind of sound, this kind of music.

It’s so incredibly personal, especially to the artists themselves, but it still reaches deep for other people. This song is straight poetry, dude.

It’s conversation in the form of poetry, with its own little accompaniment. And that is precious in a way I find hard to put into words 🥹

First of all: Matt Elliott. Man, I can ramble about this man for hours. His music inspires me so much. I personally love his songs about failed relationships and fading dreams more but this album has an apocalyptic sadness that makes me shiver. If you don't get easily bored from long songs, try giving him a try.

Let's continue with a the Mountain Goats' song. One of his most popular song 'Love Love Love' is definitely worth listening to if you haven't yet. It makes you sigh deeply with every note.

tumblr tips & things!

after growing rlly fast, i just wanted to provide some maybe helpful tips + things you could do if you’re a smaller blog! i am in no means an expert, I am still learning but this is what i’ve learned, specifically abt the mcyt tumblr community

disclaimer you DO NOT have to follow these, these are what ive learned and my opinion, but i think most writers can agree on this

its a lot of info im sorry ajdba but feel free to reblog and add ur own info!

1. tags!

theyre superrr important if you want exposure for your works + writing pieces, just make sure to tag accordingly

meaning: do not cross tag, or main tag, (ex do not tag just dream alone) keep ‘x reader’ content under the ‘x reader tags’

^people get uncomfortable with x readers and sometimes they slip through the filtered tags

my go-tos for tags are mcyt or cc name then the following prefixes- x reader, x y/n, x you, fanfic, fanfiction

if you have a fic for dream, DO NOT TAG george, it makes it confusing

also tags for ur random posts r super helpful because if someone doesnt want to see it, they can filter it out (my talking tag is basilly blabs)

adding a tag for the ppl you interact for! i like doing this cuz i can easily search a tag on my blog to see my prev interactions w/ them (ex. if i interact w/ userA then i tag userA’s username)

2. create some sort of brand

of course u can switch it up, but using ur own theme makes ur work recognizable to others

like mine is my banner- i use it on every of my works + important posts, so ppl can recognize me

banners can be found on the internet or twitter (but pls credit the artist w/ permission) i found mine on google

for super thin page dividers, i use ibis paint (mobile app) and made a super thin canvas (3405x57) and filled it w/ my theme color

3. plspls dont beat yourself up for rejecting requests or feeling uncomfortable

you are not forced to write requests, if they make you feel uncomfortable you can decline

also if you’re not happy with the work, you can spend the time to revise + edit, we will wait for work you are happy with!

+ if you are stuck with some details on writing smth, ask a mutual or others! more brains and more ideas!

4. same goes for writers block & health issues

we all get it sometimes, no one is pressuring you and if they are, its your blog, you decide. and your health matters more

5. the mcyt tumblr community is SUPER NICE

if u wanna be moots aka mutuals (follow each other) literally shoot them any message and they’ll respond so kindly

ive talked to so many incredible moots who I absolutely adore theyre so kind

also interacting w/ moots: they can reblog your work, creating exposure but do not expect reblogs, and same to you we are not expected to reblog

6. please check a cc’s boundaries before writing

@/smp-boundaries has a majority listed, and if not, ask!

7. if u have any questions, just ask!

lots of ppl will not even mind that much, like i said theyre super kind

8. navigation + masterlists!!

super important for everyone to see your rules, works, all put into one spot, it makes it 10x easier

9. backup ur works + asks

tumblr can be glitchy so its always helpful to back up works on google docs or smth similar

having ur whole fic deleted is not fun and demotivating

asks can be backed up by sending them to ur linked email- this has helped loads for me

10. dont worry too much abt likes + follows

all blogs start out small and as you go and keep persisting, ppl will start noticing + following, its all abt perseverance + trust the process

even when fics r rllllyy good, tumblr has its own bad days and u get low notes- dont let this discourage you

11. anonymous asks!

some ppl get nervous and request on anon! personally think theres more requests that way

12. small text or read mores!

internet is a great help w/ this and itll give you guides and step by step instructions

mobile also is a lot harder to make an aesthetic blog, so a laptop or pc or chromebook is super helpful

13. for max notes, post at ‘prime times’

i think the queue tells u when the prime time is to post for ur time zone, but also a google search is super helpful

or, guess and check! trial and error- i did this and found the best time to post for me

once you find it, you can schedule or queue your work so it posts for you!

14. if there’s sensitive topics pls add TW and CW

as writers yes we try to cover some topics that ppl request but we dont want to trigger others, so at the top include TW// (trigger warning) or CW// (content warning) and add a cut or read more

do not put CW or TW on content creators- no matter how bad they are, its rude and dehumanizing

15. Formatting is SUPER important!

if you do not separate your lines of dialogue or paragraphs, chances are people WILL skip over it. it makes it hard to read and sometimes it is’t worth people’s time

rule of thumb is make a new paragraph every time someone speaks and indicate who is talking or make is distinguishable!

if your fic is over 500 words, id add a cut as well! if you dont know how:

on mobile: type :readmore: in a new paragraph and hit enter w/out a space after the readmore

pc/laptop: new paragraph, three dots far right

Smut also def has its own set of rules but i am not a nsfw blog- main things i can say is please add cuts and check for cc’s boundaries
