Meet Button & Match

Characters in the Cable AU tend to come in pairs, duos or dichotomies, and Button and Match are no exception! :) Being the two game controllers that Kris and Asriel used to play with on their old TV, the twins have always been inseparable.

After the Divide, many darkners were left purposeless, and with their friend Tenna having gone missing, Button and Match were left out of use. Roaming the Channels and the City, causing trouble, picking play fights, and hoping to find someone who would want to play with them.

Though their idea of "playing" might be a bit too aggressive for the average darkner. Who doesn't like fighting games?

I wanted to give this question some thought, because I really do love doing fun poses with my characters

Maybe it’s kinda weird, but when I think about posing characters, I think about dolls, and my lifelong obsession with super articulated dolls (bjd and the like). Obviously doll articulation is a lot better nowadays, but back then it was barbies with stiff legs and a bent arm, I’d get so excited if they could move their limbs in more ways than the usual. I’m not sure why. Maybe it was kind of a stim for me, but even imagining dolls with articulation makes me quite happy and always has. The poseability and hold-ability is very important to me.

How this translates to art is, my younger siblings and I werent really… allowed to do anything but draw and stay in the kitchen, especially as we got older. So naturally our dolls became words we could say, and most of all it was art we could make. In a way, my personal art has always been playing, so it makes sense that my love of articulation would translate over to my ocs

I used to write a lot of comics for us and we’d all animate stories into silly long gifs. It wasnt ever a question of if we could or if it was skillful, that was just how we played. It just came naturally and without much doubt, our skills built up over uhhh all our lives. (Not saying it was great, but it wasnt even a question of quality)

So I guess my inspiration is my inner child(ren), and I’m really happy that I have the skillsets that makes it so easy to make them happy.

I do commissions for a living too, and with every piece I can’t help but think that the commissioner probably wants the most of their character shown off as possible, so I need to pose in a pleasing way that struts their stuff. That has to get creative when you’ve done probably 500+ commissions =v=;

TLDR: i want to hold my characters like dolls and play with them, the end

okay. i am now awake and semi-coherent and ready to talk about the blue lock movie. nagi and reo specifically because ohhhhhh my fucking goddddd they were made for me?????

a puppeteer and his devoted puppet??????? but they vow to be together always????????? they have a dynamic where reo exercises control over nagi but it’s never in a twisted sense, only something built on a very deep trust. nagi trusts reo’s judgement and doesn’t care about soccer anyway, only reo himself, so he doesn’t mind being puppeteered. it’s only when he realizes he actually enjoys it that he leaves reo behind — and even then it’s all for the sake of them being together in the end!!!! they’ll meet again on the other side!!!!!!!!!!

but it’s still so. fucking soulcrushing because reo might seem controlling, he might seem a little detached, but he cares for nagi so deeply and calls him a genius and trusts him in a way no one else does. he loves him so much. soccer was the first thing reo ever wanted for himself, nagi was the second. and nagi left him behind.

the concept of a doting puppeteer being left by his beloved puppet makes me batshit insane all on its own but the fact that their relation to each other is so genuine and kind just wrecks me. nagi is doing what he thinks is best for reo but he’s hurting him more in the process. reo wishes he could be happy for nagi, but he still cries because he doesn’t want to be alone. he doesn’t want nagi to walk farther than he can reach, even if that will stunt his growth. maybe he’d prefer him being under his thumb, always, willingly, never meeting his full potential;

and i think that makes reo feel so, so guilty.

Skateboards my way back because 4.2 gave us CRUMBS EVEN IF ITS FOR A MINUTE. And i had a very self indulgent thought... okay so tsun!FL, yeah? Imagine aiding him after the events and he has to take painkillers / medicine that has to help his recovery, but it's a sedative so it makes him very eepi... wHICH SUCKS FOR HIM BC HE CAN'T BE TOO ACTIVE AND FITE, but that means he'll recover faster! Imagine having to deal with this tire and stubborn moth for a while, gets difficult over his meds and when he's on his meds he gets very soft sometimes... leans onto you sleepily... fighting the whale, going back to the abyss, etc etc was probably way too tiresome and God knows how long he was there for again-

Foul Legacy will ONLY take his medication if you're the one giving it to him- not the doctors, not his Fatui subordinates, only you- and even then he's still stubborn, hissing and glaring at the medicine like it's his worst enemy. you extend your free hand and cup his cheek, gently rubbing your thumb against it as Legacy leans into your touch, his demeanor softening with a quiet purr. finally he lets out a huff, nudging your other hand for the medicine; he swallows the pills, sticking out his tongue in disgust before pressing himself closer for you, wanting to bask in the warm, comforting feeling you exude

soon you feel Legacy leaning heavily against you, his voice coming out as little croons and chitters, wings fluttering almost absentmindedly. he shifts so his head is resting in your lap, rumbling tiredly as you pet his hair. your fingers brush over the cracks in his armor, the areas that haven't quite healed yet, and he lets out a quiet whine, curling his claws gently around your wrist. you lean back against the wall and open your arms, Legacy practically falling into your hug with his cheek snuggled into your chest, wedging his head underneath your chin. he missed you- when he was fighting the narwhal all he thought about was you and coming home to your warm embrace- it's what kept him going, really

silence falls over you both and in a few moments, you begin to hear soft snores from Foul Legacy, drowsy trills occasionally slipping from his fanged maw before he nuzzles closer, relaxing for the first time in weeks
