also this painting is incredible,, the sheer emotions expressed through the brush strokes and the color choice, the way the body seems almost bruised.. the way the protagonist is kind of sinking into his bed, his head disappearing as he hides into his pillow, the same way you sometimes want the darkness to submerge you until you become one with the shadows and your pain can no longer reach you
