Ace Attorney is fun for language reasons

So Ace Attorney. For some reason it managed to involve ever single language I've ever dabbled with.

I watched the English dub version of the anime so I know all the English names. I know enough German to understand the German references in the English version (with the Von Karmas and the Gavins, and occasional fanon Edgeworth).

Then this is the tricky part. I know enough Japanese to know the correct pronounciations of the names when I see them, but not the exact meanings because I'm very rusty. However, I speak Chinese, so I can directly read enough Japanese characters in the names to know the Chinese translation. Since Chinese is similar to Japanese in terms of characters having both a meaning of its own and a pronounciation value* I can infer the meaning of the original Japanese names and get the puns in the translated English names. For example, Mitsurugi Reiji is translated to Miles Edgeworth because the original name involves the character that means "sword".

So the whole aa fixation experience is so fun for me. What a unique experience, I love it when a bunch of languages mix up.

*not sure how to explain this, but in Chinese and Japanese there're no "alphabets". You can't directly translate names by translating the English letters into the native alphabet. Instead, you need to find characters that sound similar to the original name, and conjure a combination that makes a similar overall sound as the og name. These combinations usually mean almost nothing in Chinese/Japanese.

The characters in Chinese and Japanese have their own inherent meaning (such as sword in Edgeworth's case) as well as pronounciation (the sound of it). There are often multiple characters that sound the same, so there can be many correct answers. Choosing characters with positive connotations is meant to create positive character images, and negative connotations for negative images. In Japanese/Chinese-English translations, the pronounciation is kept, but the meaning is mostly lost. The English dub actually exceeded my expectations when they managed to keep some of the meaning through puns.

However this "find a combination that sounds like it" approach is not the main one in Japanese-Chinese translations of names. Instead of finding sound-alikes, translators convert the Japanese characters to corresponding Chinese characters (and they often look REALLY similar to each other).

Be warned: I am not professional in translation and I barely passed my basic Japanese in 10th grade, so this is really poorly explained.

Ok hear me out: Narilamb but they're both aroace and in a qpr.

I've been rolling around in my head for like a long long time this idea that Narinder and Lambert could both be aroace and (after like. A couple of centuries or so) end up in this like very comfortable very close relationship that neither of them define as anything specific other than calling it a "companionship". But on the other hand most of the cult thinks that they're dating in secret or something despite the fact that both of them have said they don't take lovers, because they are clearly very tight but maybe not super openly so, so maybe the cultists thing they're being secretive and hiding something or something like that. Idk but my aroace brain loves thinking about extremely close (mostly) platonic relationships and for some reason my brain decided hmm. I'm going to take this and throw it at Narilamb and see how I like it.

So then I decided to make a ridiculous joke comic about Narinder asking Lambert's hand in marriage specifically because he wants to get out of paying taxes. Because like, I know that spouse followers do actually still have to pay taxes in the actual game but. Hey Narinder and Lambert have presumably never married so they probably don't know that...? Honestly the only reason I made this was because the concept tickled me and I spent too much time on this for no one to see it, so. This comic and all it's absolute ridiculousness be upon ye.

While there's a tiny part of me that's been thinking about making this into an AU (which I'd probably call something like the "Strictly Platonic AU" or something), I know for a fact that I would blatantly not do anything legitimate with it so. It's an unofficial AU I guess?? But. Anyways. I thought this would be funny. Enjoy my ramblings and I hope you enjoy this thing that I spent. Actual time on. Lol

(for that and more proof that EHN is the best event, see: the teachers trying to hold their own Halloween party without Crowley noticing because they don't want to invite him. why was this one scene and not a long-spanning subplot like it deserved to be. we were robbed.)

Scoria and Sakura are best friends! It's so cute when I see the things they do together, and it makes me so beyond happy that they both came to live with me so that they could share their lives with each other. They absolutely insist on it, and does so much good for the other.

I can't imagine how else they could have found happiness if things hadn't worked out exactly as they did. Scoria has basically been Sakura's "emotional support snake" while she worked through things from her past I'll never fully know that caused her a lot of issues with panic and fear. Sakura knows this too, and looks out for her sister, the only one she truly trusts and feels completely safe with.

The moment they wake up they both want each other to snuggle and play with. Scoria loves to be affectionate with both me and her sister who seems to have not had this earlier in her life- but Scoria is showing her how nice it is not only directly but demonstrating with me and Sakura also trying, copying what she has seen her sister do.

Sometimes when one goes to check on the other they'll join in on... I'm not even sure what they were doing. But they had a good time while taking a mandated union break from digging tunnels for the isopods.

So happy I get to share in the adventures of these two best friends! It makes me so happy to see them living their best lives together, and being beyond content snuggled together with their found family.

Lowkey, I think one of my favorite little things about Rescue Bots is how we get to learn a little more about Optimus when he shows up. Like, not war stuff or Orion Pax stuff, but just little things about Optimus.

One of his favorite Earth stories is The Little Engine That Could. Does he read in his spare time and if so, how did he find Little Engine?

I think that unlike when they split in the Divine Dark Reflections arc, they might try to stay in bigger groups, and I think Time would probably want to have as many close to him as possible (his group have three or four), but I uhh didn't know how to incorporate that.

It's silly, but right now I can't stop imagining a scene where they reach the central room and everyone sprints off into the groups they want before time can argue.

Anyone who goes with legend will survive physically and anyone who goes with four will survive mentally.
