my life is officially complete—i’ve reached the peak of pure, unfiltered bliss. i could not be happier right now.

but on a slightly more serious note (if you can even call it that), BEETLEBABES AND HOMUMADO DANCING IN SIMILAR WAYS! i know it sounds absolutely ridiculous to be this excited over something so specific, but honestly, i can’t help it. it’s the dumbest thing to lose my mind over, but i’m completely obsessed and i love every second of it

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is one of those movies where you could throw a theory out and nothing is wrong.

Which is why it sucks as a linear story plot.

And I love this franchise to death, loved the sequel too. But it does have its errors with plot holes about civil servants (especially BJ himself), a contract being broken by the Handbook despite both parties agreeing (+ that didn't involve Afterlife authority intervention to begin with), and Richard not being able to see Lydia was never?? Explained?? Delores wanting immortality despite already being dead, Lydia's mom still being alive, ugh, etcetera etcetera. The list goes on. This sequel leaves us with more questions than answers. And that's the point - we're supposed to assume how to fill in those gaps, which doesn't work well in this case without proper seeds to find it.

This movie ends us off with a "What the fuck was that ending?" because seriously, what the fuck was that ending? If not putting their foot in the door for a third movie setup, they want us to talk about it and theorize it from the ground up.

I personally think the dream started when BJ said "I love a good dream sequence" and Delores coming in, and Lydia backing out of the deal was his worst nightmare. As far as I'm concerned, they're happily married and sleep in the same bed together. That's my take on it. Nothing more. The Babyjuice at the end is just a fun gag and reference to Carrie (2013).

But at face value, this movie is nothing more than a love story between Lydia and Beetlejuice. Like that's it. It's just Beetlejuice trying his hardest to win over Lydia and he almost gets her. I'd argue that's the only plot point where the movie takes itself seriously, haha

The only thing that will disprove any of these theories or clear up some or plot holes is a BJ3, which I highly doubt is gonna happen. And this sequel ends off on a Beetlebabes-ish note either way, I'd take that as a win

I'm brand new to the Beetlejuice and Lydia ship and fandom, and I feel like this is pretty much the first fandom I ever am newly arrived and already winning! We have the actors themselves shipping the couple, with Winona even saying that to her in her mind they are endgame, plus the loveliest, most romantic wedding dance sequence I've ever seen in any piece of media so far. And also a full movie displaying Betelgeuse as truly, undeniably in romantic love with Lydia!

But I see there are people who have been shipping these two for decades, and I can only imagine the level of vindication and joy you guys are feeling. You truly won! After all this time, there is an actual full live-action sequel movie where the ship leaves the realm of fanon forever. Like whatever happens, whether we get a third and final movie or not, whether Lydia ever reciprocates openly or not, the ship has already become canon because it has now been presented as a romance (albeit one-sided for now) canonically. No amount of hate from antis will remove this fact.

I had a concept for some beetlejuice designs and then it kind of got a bit fanficy a bit au. It's like if someone asked me to make a cartoon sequel series to the first movie but incorporate characters and vibes from the second movie. I'll explain more in detail . Also I'm aware my beetlejuice design is very inconsistent in the face I got a bit burnt out but I'd like to draw more of this

My au fanficy thing is set in the 90s, Lydia goes back to New York to pursue a degree in photography. But Beetlejuice keeps terrorizing her trying to get her to resurrect him and just being evil and a villain towards her. They're not friends in my series like in the cartoon. Beetlejuice is either trying to force Lydia to do what she doesn't want to do or kill her. At first Lydia is scared of him but as episodes go on she's more just annoyed and just wants to get on with her student life and her own projects. She's kind of like "this guy again 🙄🙄🙄"

I mainly wanted to do these to design cool outfits so I'm going to explain them in detail.

I wanted Lydias style to be quite vintage inspired, vintage for the 90s. A lot of the goth character designs I see don't feel super authentic to me PERSONALLY so I dressed her in clothes id really want to wear.

For beetlejuice I changed his design a lot because I wanted it to be different from his iconic original look. Because I don't see the point in redesigning if I'm only going to slightly tweak the original. I have him a sort of rockabilly vibe, I saw a lot of Beetlejuice stripes in that fashion. And I also have him a riff Raff/Brian eno-sque hair style, receding hair line but grown out long. He's looks super sleazy, which is very much what I'm going for. I also want him to have some what of a new York taxi driver vibe.

Just got home from the cinema after watching Beetlejuice!! Santiago Cabrera was so good in it!!!! 🥹🥹🥹 I enjoyed it so much, I got so happy seeing him he’s such a dear I love him 🥹♥️

A friend at school made a drawing of Beetlejuice with me and he gave it to me today and it was so adorable, I couldn't stop smiling and being silly looking at the drawing (I was like OMG OMG OMG OMG this is so cute💗) I even lost my focus during a test remembering the drawing.

I'm not used to other people showing affection to me, so I always feel extremely happy, silly or agitated when I receive them. So I wanted to share this drawing of her.
