Shh! Stop fussing, I'm just braiding your hair! ~Ash x Dru

Dru was sitting in the garden between Ash’s legs with her back towards him. Ash, who was currently trying to braid her hair. Ash was surprisingly good at braiding hair but Dru was impatient with everything and Ash kept messing up because Dru had shorter hair than he was used to doing in Fairie.

   Ash had been having a stressful day and Dru had found him in the garden looking at the flowers. Dru had sat with him and they talked for a while and then Ash had asked Dru if he could braid her hair. She was a little shocked but allowed it anyway and started making a flower crown for him.

   Dru had picked the flowers earlier and was now almost done weaving them into a flower crown. She groaned when Ash pulled a piece of hair too hard. “Ash that hurts.” She said rubbing her head where it was stinging slightly. Ash smacked her hand away gently. “I’m not trying to-” Dru cut him off. “But you are.” Ash groaned frustrated. “Just shh! Stop fussing, I’m just braiding your hair!”

   Dru stuck her tongue out but went quiet. She had two more flowers until she finished her flower crown. Ty had taught her how to make them. Ty makes flower crowns when he’s stemming, the repetitive movement helps calm him. Dru had spent hours with Ty one day trying to get the hang of it. When she did Ty had gotten all excited and it made her excited. She still had both those flower crowns from that day.

   Dru yelped when Ash pulled some hair too tightly and collapsed back on him, trapping his hands under her back. Ash laughed and Dru just slumped further back on him sticking her tongue out. Ash just laughed harder resting his forehead on Dru’s head. “If you weren’t so cute I’d dropkick you.” Dru grumbled. 

   Ash smiled against her head and kissed her hair softly, his arms abandoning the braids and wiggling out from behind her back to go around her waist. “I’m sure you would darling.” Dru smiled softly and closed her eyes resting her head against Ash’s collarbone.

   They sat like that for a few minutes before Ash pushed her off gently. “Okay come on I wanna finish.” Dru groaned but obeyed picking up the flower crown again and finishing it easily. Dru sat back a little so she could place it on his head. He looked at it and smiled widely. “I love it, Drusilla.”

  Dru blushed lightly and smiled at her hands as he adjusted it on his head before going back to her hair. It was oddly calming, to have someone play with your hair. She didn’t get that anymore. Livvy used to play with it a lot, but now that was nothing more than a bittersweet memory. Helen was never one for doing hair, she believed it was best left natural. Julian was the only one who could actually do hair but he’d been so busy with everything going on that he never did it anymore. 

   Dru let out a content sigh as Ash finished her braids. “I’m done!” Dru laughed and jumped up twirling in a circle to show her hair off to him. He laughed and clapped and Dru was hit by the realization that she probably looked ridiculous to onlookers, girly to no extreme but she couldn’t bring herself to care.

   Ash stood up and his crown fell to one side. Dru walked up to him and fixed it with a fond smile. Ash smiled back and wrapped his arms around her waist while Dru slipped hers around his neck. Dru rested her forehead against Ash’s and swayed to a tempo Ash set.

   “You’re beautiful.” Ash whispered. Dru smiled and looked into his eyes. This was a new thing, them together, but him calling her beautiful wasn’t. She had never truly thought of herself as beautiful. Her siblings told her she was but all the whispered comments she heard when she walked by other shadowhunters had.

   But Ash made her feel different. Not in an ‘oh finally a guy makes me feel better about myself’ kind of way. Rather in a ‘someone who believes in me who makes me believe in myself’ kind of way. 

   He made her feel smart, and beautiful, and strong. He contradicts all the whispers and comments made behind her back. He was like the push that finally got the boulder moving. She would never be able to thank him but he didn’t need to be thanked. 

   He already understood.

The Wicked Powers Theories

The Wicked Powers has recently been getting me excited WAY too much - which says a lot about how weird I am since Cassie hasn’t even started on it yet (LOL).

aND, so, I kind of thought it’d be nice to jot down some predictions and theories on how the series might go and maybe some thoughts on THE SHIPS (that really do be the real TEA).

So.Here we go.And do let me know about any thoughts you have on this topic as well - I read anything about TWP like a crazed creature these days istg.

1)The POV has already been envisioned to be from Ty, Dru and Kit. I absolutely love this settlement since they are all very intriguing characters. Ty is an interesting person and his actions are always unpredictable, so we might enjoy this one. And,I believe he is at The Scholomance while the story progresses, followed by Livvy (Ghost Livvy, I mean).It’s still unclear what Livvy’s situation is, so I can’t wait to know more about that - it’s bound to be something unexpected. And, as for Dru, it’s kinda obvious. We all know that WE HAVE A LOVE TRIANGLE COMING UP. But, other than that, we also know she attends The Academy and finally starts to makes some friends and even has that really close Italian (..or was it Spanish???) Shadowhunter friend who’s her age and Cassie also revealed that the two are really tight indeed. And I will be honing in on the Love Triangle soon - I told you I’ll be trying to spill whatever tea I’m guessing at.  And, as for the last character WE HAVE KIT! OMFG YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE OLDER BROTHER KIT.LIKE GOSH DARN IT HE IS SO ADORABLE AND MINA IS SO EFFING CUTE I CAN’T EVEN-                          AND KIT’S TRAINING WITH JEM AND HE IS GOING TO BE A WELL-TRAINED SHADOWHUNTER IN TWP, SO YAYYYY!! And, I absolutely CANNOT wait for MinaXKit interactions, they are the cutest siblings ever and I absolutely know that Mina grows up to be sarcastic. I can’t wait for the possible sarcastic arguments between Kit and 4-year old Mina. YOU THINK I FORGOT ABOUT KITxTY? NOPE.THE REAL SHET’S COMING UP.

2)Now,we know that the storyline is going to have something to do with that Faerie Heirloom that was from the Rosales Family. And, Cassie also said it was going to be kind of an Arthurian Legend-ish story. If you don’t know the Arthurian Legend, I suggest you read on it. I’m not sure if Cassie meant the characters and LOVE Aspect of it or the LEGEND aspect of it as in the stuff about Excalibur and all. But, for now we’ll view it in both and examine it, shall we?

King Arthur's reign ends after his wife and best knight have an affair.

This is the drama in the legend.But, there are no relationships with the MCs yet. So idk. I’m clueless. Like, maybe Dru has a relationship?? Okay I’m clutching at practically nothingness so don’t judge me. :/

So,it’s obviously something to do with the LEGEND.

I am afraid I cannot say too much about it, since I have never read too deeply about it. But, here’s some of the basics:

-He managed to pull out Excalibur from the rock it was stuck in.

-He wielded Excalibur for the people and not for his own self-interest.

-He gets help from a wizard named Merlin.

-The peeps go on a quest.

So,now I thought this was interesting- the destruction part. After all, it’s something I’m expecting about the Shadowhunters. Will the Clave maybe be destroyed? Or maybe Faerie will be destroyed? So,there were three things that brought on this uh Destruction.FIRST, his wife and his best buddy were going behind his back and doing them lovey-dovey stuff. And they all go on some quest to retrieve something important to them. So, this sounds like something plausible to be the plot of TWP. Maybe the Heirloom’s missing? And who goes on the quest though? Maybe they venture through Faerie? BLAH MY HEAD HURTS SOME THINGS ARE BETTER TO BE SURPRISED WITH ;)

-----I kinda scrolled back up while writing about Janus down there and remembered CLARY MIGHT BE TAKEN HOSTAGE LIKE YESS AND THEY GO FIND HER MAYBE?

3)We will defo see Christina, Mark and Kieran at some point- no worries, Emma and Julian too. Happy Couples! XD

4)So,then we can look forward to Dru and Jaime’s interactions. I am absolutely excited for this the most, as a shipper of the two. If you remember, we saw Jaime ignoring her for a while back there at the end of QOAAD and then he says “See ya at the Academy soon ig”. I really do hope they meet and hang out as friends, at least. I am excited to see what kind of trope it’s gonna be tho. Like, do they ignore each other and remain awkward until they start the adventure stuff in the book where they eventually have to talk to each other after years or smth. Or, maybe they’re really good friends rn. But, what I’ll warn y’all shippers is that they might not end up together, and could wind up as brother-sister-ish kind of best buddies. Which is equally cute a relationship imo. It’s a really sweet thing to be, really. I lowkey hope Cassie spins something beautiful for their relationship like a sibling-like best friends kind of thing. But, I feel like they might have feelings for each other in secret. Or maybe they date. Or maybe they suppress their secret-feelings for the sake of friendship later on in the book and end up having that really sweet friendship I was talking about.There are SO many options and that is precisely why I am so freaking excited.

5)JAIME ROCIO ROSALES.       Like, I have this gut feeling that he might end up being my fave male protagonist character in TSC. He’s got it ALL. Like, the sense of humour, the looks, the bubbly yet brooding personality, the quirks and OFC THE FRICKING NAME ITSELF IS CUTE AF LIKE BRUH I CANNOT WAIT TO READ ABOUT HIM.I have so much to say about Jaime but I’d rather we let ourselves simply wait for the crumbs Cassie might give us or maybe reread all his parts in TDA like I do everyday or just wait for the book to come out rather than simp for someone we know nothing about yet....

6)Ash Morgenstern.         He’s a cute lil bean.        That was random and untrue lmao. He’s not a ‘lil bean’. He’s totally badass with dem wings and all, but we know he’s soft inside for Janus and ofc Dru, I believe. I find him the most intriguing character, honestly. I would love to know what goes through his head. He’s actually, like, the one character in TSC that I don’t have all figured out. He gon surprise us all for sure tho. He is awesome. That’s all I have to say for now. And he looks up to Janus which is SO GODDAMN SWEET AHHHH. And THE WINGS I CANNOT WAIT TO READ MORE ABOUT THE WINGS IT SOUNDED SO BADASS ISTG I LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT GOSH DARN IT. But he really do be a cute lil bean lowkey tho.

7)Kit and Ty LOL. I have no words really. But lemme tell you how it might go. There is definitely going to be some kind of reunion. AND THEN THAT’S WHERE IT GETS CUTE. They could either be awkward and we know what tension that gets us-perhaps some whisperings of My Watson...(?  ;) and maybe they go all sad and brooding with dem looks later OR, they could be the sweetie-pies they were before and be happy and all HIII BUDDDYYYY MISSED YAAA LESS GO BE DETECTIVES YAY BURN IT UP MAH BUDDY!! Either way it’s going to be cute af and we know it . TRUST IN CASSIE Y’ALL.I trust Cassie to let this ship sail the seven seas and seven more like it deserves.

8)Ash and Dru So, Ash has a strange lil fixation on Dru and I believe he even thought she was ‘pretty’ or something. It was definitely a good adjective, but I think he said ‘pretty’. idk but we know he likes her. and I can imagine a nice relationship. I can picture them with her hair flying in the wind and they meet for the first time or smth. IHNI WHAT IM SAYING. But, there will be DRAMA. They are going to be real cute with each other YOU CAN BET ON THAT.And, by cute I do not necessarily mean ‘Oh, you have the loveliest eyes’ or some shet like that. I have a feeling it’s going to be a case of ‘Well,that’s not weird or anything YOU WEIRDO - NO U - NO U - NO U’ However this relationship is going to go, I know that it’ll be a sweet one.And, for all you shippers of these two, I have no assurances that HE IS THE ONE or anything but he is definitely a candidate. Jaime is going to be some competition I can tell. So, idk. It depends on the Jaime x Dru ship to decide things for Ash x Dru ship imo, since it might be a no-brainer if the two have feelings for each other- I mean,Jaime is an actually perfect love interest in TSC, while Ash is strong potential Best-Friend material, so it’s ONLY if Jaime and Dru don’t like each other that way that Ash could make it as a love interest. So, if y’all wanna find out what’s in it for you guys, ask Cassie maybe about how the Jaime x Dru ship might go, the next time u wanna ask her ;)

9)Tavvy and maybe the kid Helen and Aline might have had We were getting hints of another baby, so HERE WE GO.Tavvy might have a playmate. :D. YAYYYYYYYYYY

10)Janus  I’m honestly worried about him. He is a worrisome character. I hate empathising with the antagonist, personally. AAAAHHHH . I hope we see some character development in him. I really don’t want to see him as an antagonist in the story. He’s sweet and feels cheated, but he should realise that it ain’t Jace’s fault but SEBASTIAN’S fault. I would like for him to make amends with Jace :( And, also, he might get the story started in TWP tho idk. But, seriously tho, when he went home in that short story and Ash asked, “I thought you were gone forever?” or something of that sort and he shook his head sadly and Ash went soft for him. Like, that fricking broke my heart. I love this relationship tho. And, i hope Clary and him can be good friends. But, I feel like he might end up dying to save her or smth and make us all cry . T_T

11)WHAT TF IS GOING ON WITH THE SHADOWHUNTER POLITICS RN THO?HOW AND WHERE ARE THEY ALL SURVIVING TOGETHER WHAT IS THEIR SYSTEM AND STUFF THIS IS NOT A POINT WITH POTENTIAL THEORIES COZ HONESTLY I WANT TO BE SURPRISED BUT I THINK THEY MIGHT ALL JUST BE IN HIDING AND THEN IN TWP THEY MIGHT HAVE TO COME OUT FOR A QUEST OR SMTH AND WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE SHADOWHUNTERS AT THE CLIMAX OF THIS WHOLE SERIES??? IT IS THE END OF TSC SO IM SCARED AND KINDA SAD TOO :(((((((

12)Thule We might learn more about the Thule world and maybe they restore it or maybe the Quest is in Thule. idk. we don’t know much, but Thule will most probably be explored a lot. Cassie wouldn’t have opened up Thule for no reason.

13)Zara and Emma  Showdown? Befriend e/o ? What’s in store for these two? If it’s a showdown we get to see CORTANA YAY I AM OBSESSED WITH CORTANA NOW BECAUSE OF CORDELIA AND HER OBSESSION GOSH DARN IT WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME

14)BIG WAR I see a huge war coming I just know it. It’s a climax so there MUST be a big war and so I cannot wait! Feel like there’s gonna be some deaths as well. Lowkey feel like Jia might die. I can feel it. :(

15)The best-friend shadowhunter of Dru is a nice thing to look forward to! I can’t wait to read about the two! And I love the fact that Dru is finally exposed to new people. And, for anyone who’s confused as to how she goes to the Academy, in QOAAD she only said she’ll have some maturity done AFTER some years .  Those years are over and she at the Academy now hecc yeah I BELIEVE THE BFF IS CALLED THAI AND SHE’S FROM THE SPANISH INSTITUTE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG???

so those two gotta fix everything bc yea international relations

They start hanging out and find they get along pretty well, specifically through a shared love of a certain fictional detective

Review: Queen of Air and Dakrness (The Dark Artifices #3) by Cassandra Clare Released: December 4th 2018 Publisher: Simon & Schuster Rating: ★★★★☆ CONTAINS SPOILERS

“Should I stop ?” he said. “No.” Emma had begun to smile. Her eyes were all fire now. “Let us burn.” (and then they turned into giants lmao WTF) It’s ironic that I’m using this quote considering I don’t like what happens right  after. But we can talk about this later. I used this quote because this is one of the many moments when the book felt absolutely epic . CC is incredibly good at this. Every single fight scene or reveal scene felt grand and epic, to the point where its epicness was practically cinematic. I could feel the camera making the close-up shot. When Julian calls the Downworlders back into the institute and tells them they have to talk about the actual plan, all the times Clary and Jace are revealed to be alive, when Magnus finally performs great magic on the field and the vampires run out of the forest behind him, these are all grandiose moments which is all thanks to CC. So if you hear applause at the moment, that’s me. It’s not all sunshines and roses though. There is one thing I found incredibly frustrating in this one and that’s the point of views . This has always been this way in TDA (it didn’t use to bother me as much) but I feel it was more so in this one. In my opinion, we got too many characters with their own PoVs. It was hard to get myself interested at the beginning of each PoV and every time I was starting to get really invested and excited, the PoV would change and there were . so . many . of . them !!! There were too many to handle in my opinion. In some ways, I can appreciate it as a fan, us readers wanna get as much as we can, right ? But I don’t know that it was the right decision for the structure of the book. All the PoVs made QoAaD a bit messy, jumping from one place to the next without necessarily having a link, which in turn made many scenes unnecessary because the point they made could have been made clear to us in a much simpler way. Another thing I genuinely did not like is the resolution to the paratai bond. It was too easy ? I know they’ve been suffering for a while but they turn into giants and aren’t parabatai anymore ? I could not take this giant thing seriously and the following scene neither. In my opinion, all of them taking turns trying to wake Emma and Julien up was too cringy. The whole family standing behind Dru and Tavvy as Dru gives her first speech and then Tavvy reaches out his arms and asks Julien to carry him as he always does would have been perfectly enough and just as emotional. But overall, CC really spoiled us in this book. Between Thule - which was so satisfying it felt like a fanfic - and all the new relationships we got to see develop such as Kit and Dru or Diego and Kieran or Helen and Aline, it was great. I thought the plot, despite how messy it got, was still really enjoyable. The way she made each setting interact, seelie and unseelie court, idris, the shadow market, the institute, thule, yes it was messy but it still worked . When I think about how the Shadowhunter world has grown since City of Bones, it blows my mind ! However, I have to say that Clare’s strength definitely comes from the relationships she has created and the hardships that the characters have to face. I felt it was all genuine and heartbreaking, despite how corny it was at some point. Yes, it was incredibly corny. I was disappointed by how much romance there was, which I felt reduced some characters to love interests at times, but it still felt very satisfying to see all the ships develop. We also see all the main characters reach their highest potential. They are all looking to the future and finding their purpose in life and that is what made QoAaD feel, at last, like a last book in a trilogy. Because while reading, the focus was put on Kit, Ty and Dru so much that it almost made QoAaD a simple stepping stone towards TWP (I'm not complaining here lol). Much like CoHF was for TDA. So yes, it makes sense that the characters and ships which are left unresolved are the mains for TWP but I can’t get over the fact that we will have to wait until 2022 for the first book. I just… Whyyyyyy !??!!! I said a while ago that I would stop reading TSC books after TDA but knowing TWP will be the very last trilogy I’m not fooling myself anymore. I’ll read them all until the very last one.

qoaad theories

 i’ve had these theories for so long but i never got around to sharing them. talk about doing stuff at the last minute! (minor spoilers if you haven’t read the leaked first 3 chapters of queen/tmi spoilers) 

also a disclaimer: i know that some people have gotten their copies early and might be able to confirm/deny these rumors, but i am not one of those people. these are all theories i’ve had written down and dated in a notebook for varying amounts of time. if you are one of the people who got their copies early (you lucky, lucky bastards) please, please, please don’t confirm or deny any of these theories or correct them or spoil anything about the book for me and everyone else who is still waiting for their copy. (at the end of this post i’ll explain how i’ll tag spoilers for those of you who wish to not see them to be able to block and avoid)

the parabatai curse has something to do with heavenly fire: basically jules and emma have both described burning sensations and extreme heat so many times in the series. (ex; emma always notes that julians skin feels hot to the touch, in lm the day after emma heals jules from the posion arrow he applies runes to her and she notices that they burn and sting which is the opposite of what is supposed to happen when your parabatai gives you runes) and in the leaked first three chapters after julian and emma almost frick-frack julian rushes off and looks at his parabatai rune in the mirror and its like glowing and has flecks in it? which is exactly how jace’s eye are describe in cohf when he still doesn’t have the heavenly fire under control and he loses control kissing clary in the alley. we’ve actually never really seen what the heavenly fire does longterm. clary traps the heavenly fire in the morgernstern sword just days after jace got it so it could reason that the heavenly fire drives people insane after a while because they’re not equipped to handle something so divine and powerful. it also could do it quicker to people who don’t have extra angel blood. i also think that this could have something to do with the snippet cassie released about emma’s marks (we all assumed it meant her marks disappeared but i have a feeling that’s not the case.). the snippet was entirely out of context and i think cassie posted it that way on purpose. she wanted us to believe that emma’s marks had disappeared but maybe they were actually glowing like julian’s parabatai mark had been (which could be one of the physical changes cassie mentioned.) and this is how the curse and the heavenly fire will take affect.

diego is going to die: i hate to even type this one out bc over the course of the series i’ve actually grown to like diego as a character, but i think he’s going to die in qooad. jaime will (presumably) be living in la for twp as he is an important character in that series, and i don’t think he’d leave the mexico institute if he hadn’t experienced some great tragedy that made it too painful for him to stay. i know that’s a stretch, but it isn’t my only reason for thinking perfect diego is kicking the bucket. he is currently in a marriage contract w zara and i don’t see the dearborns letting him out of it that easily. even if he can’t give them the heirloom i could see zara and horace forcing him to marry into the family as punishment and as security that if the heirloom ever does turn up zara will be able to use it to invade faerie. not to mention, he is harboring kieran at the sholomance which at the very least would be frowned upon by the clave and considered abominable by the cohort, but it also quite probably illegal. with horace as the new inquisitor and the mortal sword out of commision the cohort will probably spin a tale of treason and faerie-sympathizing on the part of diego and his friends that helped him hide away kieran. this will probably make him a target for everyone in the cohort. not to mention i feel like his storyline will wrap up at some point in qoaad and i could even see him dying in some way to save cristina and repay this debt he feels he owes her for breaking her heart (not to mention he is obviously still in love with her.).

we’re not going to see too much of ty actually mourning, but what we do see is gonna be heart-wrenching: we all know ty is going to try to use necromancy to bring livvy back from the dead (which was one of my earlier theories about qooad) and that the only reason ty isn’t a mess over her death is because he thinks she’ll be back with him soon enough. obviously, almost none of us believe this is going to work and we’re fully prepared for livvy to stay dead. i don’t think ty is going to realize that there is no way to bring her back until way later if not the very end of the book and watching him come to that realization is going to be an incredibly emotional experience for not just us as readers, but for kit and dru, and especially for ty himself. livvy and ty had a bond that i think was even closer than the parabatai bond and so watching him go through the stages of grief and finally accept the fact that his twin and partner and best friend (who as it had been mentioned before he has literally never gone without her a day in his life and has never been in a world she wasn’t in) is dead is going to be one of the most tragic losses/parts of not just the dark artifices but the entire shadowhunter chronicles.

zara dies, horace lives: kind of a simple theory but i’m 50/50 about zara making it out of this series alive. i have nothing to base this on but a gut feeling. i just really feel like one of the dearborns is going to die and think it would be a better death if it was zara. it’s kind of dark and twisted but zara dying would be an amazing cosmic punishment for horace. he would be going on in a world where the only person he had in life (it’s been mentioned his wife is dead and so far they haven’t mentioned any other family) is gone. 

the cohort isn’t going anywhere just yet: in fact, i think whatever happens in qoaad will just give them more power. livia’s watch will (hopefully) give them a run for their money, but at the end of the day i don’t see them being disbanded or falling apart. cassie has even said that at the end of the book things will be “not great for a lot of people”. i think she meant downworlders and non-racist nephilim. people like alec, jocelyn, and aline (and presumably cristina and diana) who have fallen in love with and been involved in serious relationships with downworlders or part downworlders. people like helen, mark, and kit who have downworlder/faerie blood. and finally for allies to the nephilim like maia, lily, magnus, luke, kieran, gwyn and so on who will likely bear the brunt of whatever the cohort has planned.

ragnor fell is shade: not a very original or well thought out theory. just the only person i can think of that we’ve seen before who is green and could possibly have a relationship with church. (he was very good friends with magnus in basically every series of tsc. church was taken care of by magnus for some time after jem became a silent brother which could explain how he and ragnor would know each other.)

kieran is heading back to faerie: i wanna see the hot faerie threesome last just as much if not more than everyone else out there but i have a feeling it’ll be a one and done type of thing. i see kieran either heading back to the unseelie court as king or a prince (hopefully the unseelie king dies) or being reclaimed into the wild hunt. if adaon takes the kings place i think he would welcome kieran back into the court as a prince and kieran would have some sort of gentry responsibility. if kieran is king then as it's been stated before “a king of faerie can have no human consort.” cassie even replied with that quote to a since-deleted tweet that i believe was about keirark or kieraktina. if kieran isn’t brought back to the unseelie court and the unseelie king dies gwyn will probably take kieran back into the hunt. the only reason kieran isn’t with them right now is bc the unseelie king wants him dead, so it stands to reason that, if the king is dead and the courts don’t claim kieran, gwyn will take him back to the wild hunt.

julian will sever the parabatai bonds (parabatai theory #1): we already know that the parabatai curse will be resolved “one way or the other” and right now the only substantial and viable option we’ve been given (besides jules or emma dying which is a fat NOPE) is the severing of all parabatai bonds using the black volume. it’s been heavily hinted at, if not flat-out stated, that julian is more than willing to sever the bonds if it means keeping emma and his family safe. julian and emma will be sent on a quest to faerie seemingly to retrieve the black volume and return it to horace/ the clave. according to one of the snippets, they apparently bring it to the seelie queen and she will only tell julian how to break the bonds. i personally don’t think cassie would have done it this way if julian was just going to tell emma right after. either she won't want to know or he’ll refuse to tell her, so i don't think she’ll even be able to break the parabatai bond. (unless they have to do it together which would be super cool) and i’ve mentioned it before, but cassie has said that the shadowhunter world will be changed forever in and leading up to twp and that the storyline would deal with how the protagonists and other characters adapt to those changes. i really feel like one of those changes could be the breaking of the parabatai bonds.

cortana is the key to breaking emma and julian’s parabatai bond (parabatai theory #2):  throughout the series, there have been multiple references made to the fact that cortana can cut through anything (ex; using cortana emma killed a rider of manaan which was previously thought to be impossible, emma also destroyed the mortal sword in combat using cortana). if cortana can truly cut anything then surely it should be able to cut the bond between emma and julian. i don’t know exactly how that would work, but this could also tie in with the severing of all parabatai bonds. maybe you need a blade made by wayland the smith to severe them. anything is possible.

that’s basically it on my theories for qoaad. i don’t know if any of them will come true, but i had a lot of fun theorizing over the past year and a half while i waited for queen. in the past couple weeks i’ve reread cohf, lady midnight, and lord of shadows in preparation for queen of air and darkness, so i only posted the theories i thought were relevant or most likely based on the proof i had from those previous books. maybe once i’m done with queen i’ll make a separate post of all the theories i had that were correct or partially correct.

since queen comes out tomorrow (technically today since it’s 5 AM) i wanted to make this long overdue announcement. i know i don't have a ton of followers (100 as of just recently!! thank you guys sm!), but many of you guys are tda or shadowhunter fans, so from now until sometime in january (likely january 4, but possibly later as i know some people will be getting the book for christmas) i will be tagging nearly all queen of air and darkness posts with the tags #qoaadspoilers, #qoaad spoilers, #queen of air and darkness spoilers (with the exception of things we already know like stuff from snippets or non-spoilery pictures). if you don’t wish to see any spoilers from me you can block these tags. that way posts tagged as such won’t show up on your news feed. i know a lot of other blogs are doing the same, so it’s a pretty great way to block spoilers all across the board (even cassie recommended it)! if any of you want to know anything specific about the book feel free to pm me, i've literally been talking about this book for weeks so once i know what its actually about i’ll be more than happy to rant about it with any of you!

Kitty headcanon thingy

So you know how there's like that annual Christmas dance in TID I was thinking there'd be some sort of dance/ party thing either in idris or the la institute -This is obviously some point after TWP -kit and ty have been official for a few months now -no one else knows -except dru cause dru's observant -and Magnus cause let's be real he's probably walked in on them -ash has joined the crew in this headcanon -because I want ash to be good okay -ty gets this classic suit -kit's tongue tied because DAMN -kit wears a more casual suit -Jace and Clary are alive and well -Jem and Tessa are there -they like talking about how Herondaleish Kit is -there's a bunch of music and they really want to dance -but they don't know if they should -Ty goes off somewhere and Kit ends up talking to Jace -Helen and Aline come up for some reason (This is how I pictured this okay it doesn't need to make too much sense) -kit reaaaallly wants to dance -a girl comes up and asks kit if he wants to dance -"I don't think my boyfriend would be too happy about that" -kit says "speaking of boyfriends, where IS ty?" -helen: "you could have told me you were dating my brother" -kit: "didn't realize I needed your permission" *grins* -finds ty and asks "wanna dance" holding out his hand like a goddamn gentleman -pulls ty on to the floor -they're both kind of leading -not very coordinated dancing -but they don't care -everyone just watches them because the lost Herondale has a boyfriend and it's a big deal for some reason -Jem and Tessa are proud parents -slow music comes on -they end up just hugging and swaying -kit threw off his suit coat at some point and he's just wearing his white shirt -kiss at the end -first pda so they're kind of hesitant -but they're generally just cute okay

Dru was sitting in the garden between Ash’s legs with her back towards him. Ash who was currently trying to braid her hair. Ash was actually really good at braiding hair but Dru was impatient with everything and Ash kept messing up because Dru had shorter hair than he was used to doing in Fairie.

   Ash had been having a stressful day and Dru had found him in the garden looking at the flowers. Dru had sat with him and they talked for a while and then Ash had asked Dru if he could braid her hair. She was a little shocked but allowed it anyway and started making a flower crown for him.

   Dru had picked the flowers earlier and was now almost done weaving them into a flower crown. She groaned when Ash pulled a piece of hair too hard. “Ash that hurts.” She said rubbing her head where it was stinging slightly. Ash smacked her hand away gently. “I’m not trying to-” Dru cut him off. “But you are.” Ash groaned frustrated. “Just shh! Stop fussing, I’m just braiding your hair!”

   Dru stuck her tongue out but went quiet. She had two more flowers until she finished her flower crown. Ty had taught her how to make them. Ty makes flower crowns when he’s stemming, the repetitive movement helps calm him. Dru had spent hours with Ty one day trying to get the hang of it. When she did Ty had gotten all excited and it made her excited. She still had both those flower crowns from that day.

   Dru yelped when Ash pulled some hairs too tightly and collapsed back on him, trapping his hands under her back. Ash laughed and Dru just slumped further back on him sticking her tongue out. Ash just laughed harder resting his forehead on Dru’s head. “If you weren’t so cute I’d dropkick you.” Dru grumbled. 

   Ash smiled against her head and kissed her hair softly, his arms abandoning the braids and wiggling out from behind her back to go around her waist. “I’m sure you would darling.” Dru smiled softly and closed her eyes resting her head against Ash’s collarbone.

   They sat like that for a few minutes before Ash pushed her off gently. “Okay come on I wanna finish.” Dru groaned but obeyed picking up the flower crown again and finishing it easily. Dru sat back a little so she could place it on his head. He looked at it and smiled widely. “I love it Drusilla.”

  Dru blushed lightly and smiled at her hands as he adjusted it on his head before going back to her hair. It was oddly calming, to have someone play with your hair. She didn’t really get that anymore. Livvy used to play with it a lot, but now that was nothing more than a bittersweet memory. Helen was never one for doing hair, she believed it was best left natural. Julian was the only one who could actually do hair but he’d been so busy with everything going on that he never did it anymore. 

   Dru let out a content sigh as Ash finished her braids. “I’m done!” Dru laughed and jumped up twirling in a circle to show her hair off to him. He laughed and clapped and Dru was hit by the realization that she probably looked ridiculous to onlookers, girly to no extreme but she couldn’t bring herself to care.

   Ash stood up and his crown fell to one side. Dru walked up to him and fixed it with a fond smile. Ash smiled back and wrapped his arms around her waist while Dru slipped hers around his neck. Dru rested her forehead against Ash’s and swayed to a tempo Ash set.

   “You’re beautiful.” Ash whispered. Dru smiled and looked into his eyes. This was a new thing, them together, but him calling her beautiful wasn’t. She had never truly thought of herself as beautiful. Her siblings told her she was but all the whispered comments she heard when she walked by other shadowhunters had.

   But Ash made her feel different. Not in a ‘oh finally a guy makes me feel better about myself’ kind of way. Rather in a ‘someone who believes in me who actually makes me believe in myself’ kind of way. 

   He made her feel smart, and beautiful, and strong. He contradicts all the whispers and comments made behind her back. He was like the push that finally got the boulder moving. She would never be able to thank him but he didn’t need to be thanked. 

   He already understood.
