Favorite Color: Orange, funnily enough. It doesn't really fit with who I am as a person but it's been my favorite since I was like three years old. I particularly like a good pumpkin orange but really, I can like any color as long as it is with a palette that's cohesive :3

Last book: I think, honestly, the last thing I read was volume 5 or 6 of Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi)

Last movie: The Goldfinch (based on the novel of the same name by Donna Tartt)

Last show: Arcane (i dont have access to the TV at school and i literally went home for break and mainlined Arcane. it was a quest)

Sweet/Savory/Spicy: I would probably say that I prefer Savory over Sweet but both are very high for me and frankly about equal. I love chocolate-mint and chocolate in general, I really like citrus flavors and almost all berry flavors. At the same time, I am a whore for instant ramen w/tofu and my ex introduced me to seasoned-salt on rice a few weeks ago and I could eat that shit for hours. I also love cheese 👀

Last thing I searched online: George Mackay. he's an English actor who was in the war drama 1917, amongst other films. I know him because I have a friend who really likes him and um I may have been making fun of said friend earlier today for saying that he doesn't like men by showing him pictures of George Mackay . . . The other most recent thing I searched was Donna Tartt to make sure I was spelling her name right.

Current Obsession(s): Alien Stage (longest standing- since summer of 2023), my own ocs, and Arcane. That's about it at the moment.

Looking forward to: finals being over. Getting done w/my presentation for my least favorite class this semester because it is killing my brain.

last book: I am currently trying to read the Witcher series (per @lickthecowhappy's suggestion) so I am at the start of the Last Wish

last movie: Moana 2 (I have young kidsssss)

last TV show: My oldest is almost 10 which means she stays up late. Which also means I have so little time to watch adult things. So we've been watching the Office with her. I think I want to watch the Good Place with her next tho (I've never watched it!)

sweet/spicy/savoury: Sweet followed very, very closely by spicy. Habanero maple syrup is one of my favorite things on the planet.

last thing i searched online: How to explain a 10 year career hiatus in a cover letter (looking to return to work since having kids. It's been an interesting experience so far).

current obsession: Have not moved on from Good Omens, but recently realized that my obsession may be more in my own little connected universe of fics that I wrote rather than the actual canon at this point😳. I'm sure once we get that first glimpse of red and white hair that will change very quickly.

looking forward to: Going back to work and having a more established adult life again, honestly. I've been so lucky to be home with my kids while they are young, but I am ready. And figuring out how my newfound passion for writing is going to fit into that new life of mine. Another big year of change over here for me, and I am eagerly looking forward to how the growing pains are going to make way for something beautiful beyond.

Hii! I am a miltishipper and I honestly love byler, but I have a small doub. I see people saying, in the first scene in s4 when Mike is reading the card El gave him, Will's binder of drawings is under his bed, and why do you guys know It? I honestly, at first, thought it was a binder with cards from el but yall seem so sure about it so idk hehe.

Plus I really don't understand why would they make the love confession scene, I get that the music playing comes from Will's words and all, but whu would somebody on the writers room just say "let's make a love confession even though Mike is gonna end up with Will"

I understand your confusion for people saying that it is a binder of Will's drawings ahaha, it's definitely not confirmed to be, but the reason why people say that it could be is because, unlike a binder of El's cards, there is confirmed existence of Mike having this binder.

You may not remember this detail, but:

As you can see in season 1, when Mike believes Will to be dead, he decides to go through Will's old drawings. Mike has clearly kept these drawings, or had them given to him, because how else would he own them? It's also clear these are Will's drawings because they all have Will's name in the bottom right corner.

And this right here is the binder on his lap ^^

This is obviously suggested to be full of Will's drawings because what else would it be filled with while he's staring at other drawings right? So to byler shippers this is really sweet because it suggests that Will has been giving Mike these drawings for a really long time, enough for him to have a binder full of them. So we kind of cling onto this cute lil detail ergo...

...we think this is the same binder. In my opinion, it doesn't look like the same one, and tbh, I've never really subscribed to this view that it is his binder of drawings. However, I'm not sure why (when everything in Mike's room is very queer coded) they chose to keep this in the shot along with all the other important details. Plus, it's shoved under his bed, foreshadowing how he's shoving everything else deep down, while the oneway closet sign thing foreshadows him being in the closet lmaoo

Sooo yeah it's way more likely that this is a binder full of Will's drawings than El's cards because that has actually had an appearance on the show before and would have some good symbolic merit.

To be honest, we don't know yet. YET. That's the whole thing. It's very clear from his words that these are lies, they are provable lies. It's clear that the Painting plot will come back at some point because a lie just can't sit and stay a lie forever, especially not in a show like Stranger Things that confronts every plot point.

All byler shippers really know is that the monologue is untruthful and did not work to save Max. We know that Will's words are used by Mike and that Will has to eventually confess his feelings if his character arc is to be complete. We know that a rejection from Mike would be super duper out of place and a getting over Mike arc for Will would just be a cop-out repeat of season 4.

What we do not truly know for sure is the narrative-plot-story reason for this specific monologue. Meaning: it will come up in a plot point in season 5. We just do not know what that is yet. A lot of the audience that aren't active participators in the Stranger Things fandom do question why they had Mike be constantly talking about El all season, they question why Will was made to tell a lie, they question why Mike said stuff like 'my life started the day my best friend disappeared'.

The writers' intent was to make us question this stuff, and when season 5 rolls around, in Finn's words (or the Duffer Brothers' i guess) 'It'll pay off in the end'. So we will get an explanation and look back on the monologue with a new meaning.

my personal theory is that mike saying i love you actually made el realise that she DID NOT need mike to say i love you to her in the end. before the lab, she thought that mike saying i love you to her is what she needed to feel like she wasn't a monster. however, she went to the lab and actually figured that out all on her own!!!! meaning, the writers probably had mike say i love you to her to make her realise that actually, she did not need this after all. idk

I just want to add my contribution to the byler community. This is my byler proof post.

First, we have this pinterest diva who made a slideshow with some byler proof here it's honestly really convincing and coherent.

First of all, the case for mileven, they were cute in the first two seasons but...why aren't they "cute" anymore? My friend, I got the answer. That age is not good for dating, because your personality is still developing and you still don't know yourself enough, getting in those kinds of relationships usually doesn't end up well, because you and the other person start changing and you stop having things in common. The reason Mike and El's relationship is still up is because Mike feels a special admiration towards El, after all, she saved his life. It would really not be good to have them ending up together unless the plot is manipulated, because it would have been cool if Mike's love confession was on the final season, because after those things you don't really expect any more development in the relationship, but they still have a whole season more, so what will happen to them? The fact is: nothing interesting, the duffers said they have to close up a lot of relationships, and Mike and El's is not one of them.

El's arc:

You can deny it, you can accept it, it's ok. El's arc is about finding freedom and becoming a hero, a legend. She will probs go back with her mom and her sis at the end of the series, too! Mike doesn't fit into that ending, remember when Millie said she saw El's ending and said "ooh".

That would leave the perfect gap for byler, it would be satisfying, everybody gets their happy ending. Plus that 40 yr old man speaking with Will at the bar is a REALLY good sign.

So here is the thing, Byler has time to happen in s5, knowing that Will is going to be the main focus and knowing we have a miwi flashback.

What if byler isn't endgame? Easy, my dear friend. There would be a lot of plot holes, specifically, these ones

Does anyone have any good home decorating/organizing resources for someone who has a lot of books and craft supplies and lives the impermanent life of a student? I'm pretty terrible at organizing and making things look cohesive, and at this point I'm willing to settle for "functional" even if I can't have "pretty." I think at this point my problem is more "how to store things in a way that's not just throwing things into a cardboard box" than it is "how to get rid of stuff you don't want." Kinda rambley thoughts because my Christmas season entertainment has been rereading+getting up to date with Tower of God. Very general impressions on how rereading felt like, especially after years of not reading and legitimately thinking I wouldn't ever touch it again (spoilery tangential mentions to the last events so beware??).

Going from 'maybe I can reread this arc i liked' to 'actually let's reread the entire thing and if i keep liking it i'll get up to date i guess?', it's amazing how starting from the beginning made the issues in season 3 leagues that much more bearable and how much ToG gains when read as a whole instead of weekly.

Because, the foreshadowing is there and the thematic parallelisms are there. Knowing that the plot is going to end up with full focus on Traumerei (and Gustang's quest to get rid of the Great Warriors, because I spoiled myself that much when I was determining if I actually wanted to give the story a genuine chance) makes the narrative decisions in early Season 3 especially a lot more understandable. Actually remembering all the bits about Blue Thryssa (and the mention in the Floor of Death that it has administrator rights for some reason) makes its appearance as a power paralleling the Red Thryssa in an official manner that much better too

And that struck me in particular because I remember i was already spot reading at that point and getting increasingly confused and frustrated. A lot of the foreshadowing and buildup had happened so long ago i just... didn't remember it.

Do I still prefer season 2? Yes, for a multitude of reasons. I understand why season 3 had to focus on characters like Yama or even Dowon, but it felt much to the detriment of those characters I was already invested in. Wangnan come back pls the plot has evolved to a point your involvement would add So Much beyond me missing your silly ass. Tho at least his plotline has actually progressed (even if not through him directly), some of the other main Regulars have their plotlines 100% frozen as far as we know or only barely touched on.

Even if I think the Season 3 escalation of events goes very far on explaining why FUG felt the need to fake Bam's death in Floor 2, it meant the Regular characters aside of Bam fell hard to the side 70% of the time.

Yet all feels so purposeful otherwise??? I can only hope SIU compensates for all those things in Season 4 and, once we can read the story as a whole, it feels like a very understandable side trip.

Also V being, by the looks of it, just as much of a Mess as the rest of the Great Warriors is, honestly, to be expected but I sure didn't thinking it would be Like That. I'm lowkey worried about how SIU will be handling that.

I legitimately thought I was done with this series, but I guess the worldbuilding is just too tasty for me to ignore. If anything, the reread has confirmed to me that SIU has a Plan for the story long-term, which I value in a narrative like this quite a bit.
