i have this one hc about regulus i can’t stop thinking about
i feel like while he would be studying french literature and would start getting interested in emile zola and the form of naturalism he explores in his novels, which leads him to adopt this pseudoscientific research technique emile zola uses in his books where he writes whole stories that showcase a specific theory he wants to prove and the fact it logically is realistic within his writings is the confirmation of the hypothesis he wishes to demonstrate. i imagine him writing for six months theses he later would demonstrate in his manuscript and that he would have checked by evan and pandora. whole series of novels written to prove whether our personalities can be defined by genetic factors and thus those traits are due to one’s predisposition or whether they are strictly attributable to the environmental conditions of growth.
#these are the remnants of my french school trauma#i remember reading emile zola’s books for class and being like this guy is both miserable and bitchless (and perhaps also a bit of a genius#so i had to make the link with regulus !!#everytime i have a regulus hc it’s just stuff i did of aspired to do when i was younger#i’m sure he would also anonymously post as well as send to research labs his typewritten manuscripts#evan would always say his theories are irrelevant yet read the whole thing every time#pandora would be supportive because “let the boy have hobbies”#and barty would analyse everything and give him a handwritten report#regulus

prom - january 11 - jegulus - @taylorswiftmicrofic - word count: 387
"Oh...no," Regulus murmured, staring out of his apartment window to the limo waiting in the street below.
James Potter never could do something halfway, could he?
Grumbling, he went to open the door, only to be greeted with a grinning James Potter in a tux, flowers pinned to his lapel, holding out a corsage.
"You didn't, Potter," Regulus breathed, heart hammering, palms sweating, adjusting his own collared shit. When James had told him to dress nice, he'd never imagined...
"Regulus Black, will you go to prom with me?" James asked, smile brighter than the goddamn sun.
"James, I'm twenty-two," Regulus protested, making a huge effort to frown even as a stupid smile threatened to burst from his body.
But the other man just continued to beam. "I...I couldn't stop thinking about what you said. About how you never went to prom."
"I know. You're not very good at hiding your feelings," Regulus said flatly, trying not to shake with pent-up emotion. It was true. Ever since Regulus had offhandedly told James that he hadn't been permitted to go to prom because of Walburga's strict rules and homophobia, James had been beside himself. But Regulus had never imagined James would do this.
"Well, I decided to do something about it," James continued, shaking the little plastic container containing the corsage. "So....?"
Still, Regulus couldn't stand the vulnerability of the moment. "Tell me we're not going to a smelly high school gym," he murmured, taking the container and opening it, admiring the white Calla lilies and gently slipping the bracelet around his wrist.
"No," James chuckled, looking delighted that Regulus had taken the offering. "We're going to my parents' place. I have the backyard set up, and all our friends will be there to make it...y'know...realistic. Sirius has been campaigning for him and Moony to be king and queen for days already."
Regulus snorted, but a wave of something heavier than amusement rolled through him. "You did all that for me?" he whispered, looking up into hazel eyes.
"'Course, baby. I love you," James smiled softly, offering his arm. "Shall we?"
And Regulus wordlessly linked their arms together, allowing James to lead him to the limo waiting downstairs. Privately, he was glad he missed his actual prom. It was much better to say his prom date was James Potter, anyway.

Still Totally Just the Fifth and Sixth Wheel, You Guys
Pairing: Regulus Black x Reader
Summary: The two couples, and one pair of best friends who are not dating thank you very much, finally go on their not-date to Hogsmeade.
Words: 4.5k
Warnings: not proofread, fem!reader (she/her pronouns), use of y/n, lots of bickering and banter, mentions of black brothers drama and angst, healing brother bond, hella pining, intimate moments, talk of kissing, brief mention of hooking up, featuring rosekiller and wolfstar
Note: this is part two to this fic. part three can be found here.

“Wait, but if it’s not a date now, can’t I join?” James called from where you were all about to leave him behind in the Entrance Hall.
You almost felt bad for him, but couldn’t fight the small laughter as you were the last of the six of you to turn around to look at him.
“Sorry, Prongsy, but it is still strictly for couples,” Sirius said, and upon seeing Regulus turn to him, about to argue, he added, “or those who are best friends enough to be mistaken for a couple.”
“So unless you finally win Evans over, or get much closer to Wormy…” Remus’ voice trailed off, the apology in his tone weakened by his sight smile.
You could barely make out James murmuring “totally unfair” under his breath, before he gave a tight-lipped smile and waved. “Will go work on that, then!”
“Good luck!” you and Barty called at the same time, though in completely different tones, before your little group turned back around to continue towards Hogsmeade and this dreaded not a triple date you were somehow sort of looking forward to.
As the six of you walked, the chilly autumn air wrapped itself around you, nipping at your nose and cheeks. You were trailing slightly behind the others, arms linked with Regulus, the both of you sinking into the easy silence that had always come naturally. His long, lithe frame was stiff beside you, and though he never said anything, you could sense his reluctance. His hesitation clung to him like the cold mist swirling around your ankles.
"Still time to run," you whispered with a teasing lilt, tilting your head towards the forbidden forest that loomed dark and mysterious off to the side. “We can ditch the whole thing. Just you, me, and a pack of hungry werewolves – sounds fun, right?”
Regulus glanced sideways at you, the ghost of a smile flickering across his face. "Tempting," he murmured, his voice soft and low, the kind of sound you had to lean in to catch. “But... it might be nice to spend some time with Sirius.” He sounded less sure about that part.
You squeezed his arm gently, offering a reassuring smile, and felt him lean further into you in response. You both knew that his relationship with Sirius had been strained, fractured by years of tension, secrets, and choices neither of them were ever fully ready to confront. That made the faint glimmer of hope in Regulus' eyes all the more important, both to you and him. An unspoken desire to bridge the gap both brothers had been toying with – you knew you would support him through it, no matter how long it took to fully heal.
"Well, if you’re sure," you replied, letting your playful tone linger, as if to lighten the weight between his words. “But the offer still stands. Any time, really.”
Regulus chuckled under his breath, his body easing a little as the two of you continued your slow pace. The rest of the group – Sirius, Remus, Barty, and Evan – were ahead, animated in their own conversations. Barty was half-draped over Evan, practically buzzing with energy, while Evan walked beside him with a brooding air, casting occasional amused glances at his boyfriend. They were a chaotic contrast, loud and quiet, impulsive and restrained, but there was an undeniable balance between them that was hard to miss.
Barty's eyes glinted with mischief as he stole a look back at you and Regulus. "Oi, lovebirds!" he called out, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. "You're falling behind. Regulus, not getting cold feet, are you?"
Regulus rolled his eyes, but before he could reply, Sirius cut in with a bark of laughter. "He was born with cold feet, look at the state of him. But let him be Junior."
Contrasting statements you heard Regulus murmur beside you.
“Don’t worry, we’ll catch up,” you interjected smoothly, though not altering your pace as you gave Regulus a light tug on his arm, as if to shield him.
Finally reaching Hogsmeade, you passed through its cobbled streets, bustling with students eager to escape the confines of the castle. The Three Broomsticks was already crowded when you arrived, warmth spilling out into the chilly air from its open door. You were greeted by the comforting scent of butterbeer and the hum of conversation, the perfect haven from the cold outside.
Inside, you all squeezed around one of the larger tables near the fireplace. The seating arrangements happened naturally – couples with couples, as Barty heartily proclaimed – with Barty predictably claiming a spot beside Evan, his arm thrown lazily around his back as he chattered away. Sirius plopped himself down next to Remus, already in the middle of a bickering debate over who had a better strategy in last night’s chess game.
You and Regulus, as usual, gravitated towards each other, sitting opposite Sirius and Remus and beside Evan and Barty. You moved your chair closer to Regulus', so that your thighs were practically smushed against each other and you could hook your ankle around his. A faint smile played across his lips as he settled in. The heat from the nearby fire was welcome, but the slight tension of being roped into all of this was still palpable.
"So," Sirius started, stretching the word as if he were setting up for something, eyes flicking between you and Regulus, "what’s new with you two? Anything you'd like to share?"
You shot him a pointed look but didn’t bite. Regulus seemed content to let you take the lead on this one, his focus elsewhere, probably already imagining an escape route.
“Same as always,” you said casually, though your words were lightly laced with sarcasm. "Being unfairly dragged into your romantic schemes. Couldn’t ask for more, really."
Sirius opened his mouth to reply, but Barty cut him off. "Speaking of romantic schemes," he drawled, "Evan and I are officially a thing now, right? Isn’t that right, darling?" He nudged Evan, who simply raised a brow in his direction.
"That’s what you’ve told me," Evan said dryly, though his eyes softened as he looked at Barty.
"Exactly," Barty continued, undeterred. "But Dorcas doesn't believe us! She thinks we're playing some prank on her. Now, how do we prove it to her?"
"Why doesn't she believe you?" Remus asked, a sly smile playing over his lips.
"Barty and Dorcas have quite the history of pranks none of us understand," you explain, looking half-exasperated half-amused at your best friend. "They try to convince the other of something untrue, only to laugh at them for weeks. Last year, Dorcas made Barty believe–"
"No one needs to hear that story, Treasure." Barty cutting you off made you and Regulus giggle, both knowing why he didn't want anyone to know, while Sirius looked highly offended of being left out.
"Well, I'd like to know," he tries his luck.
"Too bad I don't care for what you want then, hm? Anyway, how do we prove it to Dorc, because Evan here thinks it's taking it too far to shag in her bed."
"I would have to second Rosier on that," Regulus drawls, mirth still in his eyes from laughing at Barty's expense.
"Me too."
"No, no," Sirius gleams. "I think you should totally do it, I have DADA with her and reckon she could kill you in just about fifty ways."
"That would be a welcome sight," Evan says. Barty slaps his arm without turning to look at him, while waving his other hand in everyone's faces.
"Yeah, yeah, funny, funny – now let's talk strategies, you tossers."
As the babbling continues, Sirius and Barty turning out to be a perfect duo who makes each other so much worse, you lean into Regulus' side, looking up at him through your lashes. He is already looking at you, having turned his attention when he felt you shift.
You mouth a you good? at him, to which he smiles and nod. Your lips mirror his when you realise it's genuine, reaching down to grab his hand under the table and squeeze it. He squeezes back, before looking up when he senses his brother trying to get his attention.
"Where did you get these freaky friends of yours?" Sirius questions, gesturing vaguely to Barty and Evan, the latter of whom's hand was currently being gnawed on by the former. Evan's face remained impassive.
"First year." Regulus provided no further invitation, blinking owlishly at his brother.
"Yeah, that's really the only way, isn't it? Merlin, they're a match for sure though."
You cock a teasing brow at Barty as he lets Evan's hand go from his teeth, only to hold it in a death grip. "You that bored already, Junior?"
"Yes, Treasure, thank you for noticing. It needs to be addressed." Barty's voice is overtly dramatic, as he digs into his jacket pocket.
He conjured up a deck of magical cards, all but slinging the container onto the table, just barely missing the candles, as he began to shuffle them with a flourish. "Let's make things more interesting. Care for a game?"
"Doesn't seem like we're given much of a choice," Sirius murmured at the same time as Remus said sure! and elbowed his boyfriend in the side.
Regulus groaned. “We all know you always cheat Barty, I catch you almost every time."
“That’s because you don't know how to have fun,” Barty replied, flipping a card over and eyeing it dramatically before sliding it back into the deck. “And obviously delusional, as I would do no such thing."
He gives you a wink and you roll your eyes, albeit with a smile.
A small fight ensues between Barty and Sirius as they try and decide on what game to play, before Remus makes a decision for all of you, taking the cards from Barty to stock them properly.
"It's everyone for themselves right?" he asked as he looked down at the cards.
"No, Treasure and Regulus always play together." Barty's comment is off-handed, going off of instinct.
"Always?" Sirius' smirk is teasing as his gaze flickers between the two of you.
"Yeah, she doesn't care much for most card games, so we usually just pair off," Regulus explains matter-of-factly, though his voice is a bit quieter than normal and his hand unconsciously tightens around yours. It's only now you realise you're still holding hands, unsure if you should use it to ground yourself or panic over.
"Yeah, they're inseparable yada yada." Evan rolled his eyes, as if you two were just horribly exhausting.
"Just like us," Barty teased in an overly-happy voice, kissing Evan square on the lips with an overdramatised smooching sound.
"Disgusting," Evan winced, wiping his mouth before wrapping an arm around Barty and squeezing him tight.
Sirius looked thoroughly confused at the boys' expressions of affection, but seemed to let it go.
You exchanged an amused glance with Regulus. "You wanna look at our cards?" you asked, nudging him gently while eyeing the cards Remus had placed in front of you. He seemed to take a moment to rip his eyes away from you before picking up the cards, moving even closer to you.
Soon, the table was abuzz with laughter, shuffling cards, and accusations of cheating flying in every direction. It didn’t take long for you and Regulus to settle into a comfortable rhythm, working together to strategise while everyone else tried to undermine each other. Even Evan, typically more reserved, joined in on the playful taunts, a small smirk on his face as Barty egged him on.
“Barty, you’ve been ‘shuffling’ those cards for three minutes straight,” Remus commented dryly, watching Barty’s theatrical motions as he tossed the cards between his hands. “At this point, you’ve either enchanted them or lost the ability to count.”
Evan, smirking beside him, shook his head. “Wouldn’t be the first time.”
“Oi!” Barty exclaimed, feigning offence, before tossing an arm over Evan’s shoulder with a mischievous grin. “Don't you lot dare forget how naturally brilliant I am. I know numbers and I don't cheat.”
"Yeah, you sounded really smart just now, mate."
“Brilliantly annoying,” you quipped, grinning as you drew a card from the deck and slid it over to Regulus. “That counts for something, I suppose.”
“Thank you, Treasure,” Barty shot back, tilting his head as if he’d just received a compliment. “You always know how to flatter me.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t fight the laughter bubbling up. Regulus, sitting next to you, leaned in slightly, a small smirk playing on his lips as he observed the scene unfolding in front of him.
“They can’t help it, Junior,” Sirius chimed in with a grin that was borderline feral, leaning back in his chair as he tossed his cards onto the table. “They have to deflect. It’s either that or admit they’ve got no idea what they’re doing.”
“Excuse you, we’re doing perfectly fine,” you replied, your competitive streak flashing as you glanced at Regulus. “Reg and I are winning, aren’t we?”
Regulus gave a barely perceptible nod, lips twitching at the corners. “As usual,” he murmured under his breath, flipping over a card with precise ease. “But you don’t have to tell them that.”
Your quiet, shared moment of confidence made your stomach flip, though you kept your expression calm and collected. There was something so steady about Regulus, something that made it easy to forget about the noise around you, the teasing jabs from the others, and just sink into the comfort of his presence.
“Winning by sheer luck, more like,” Sirius teased, drumming his fingers on the table. “What’s next, Reg? Gonna let her do all the work while you sit there looking pretty?”
Before Regulus could respond, Barty leaned forward with a wicked grin. “Oh, he’s definitely good at looking pretty. Right, Y/N?”
You rolled your eyes again, though your cheeks warmed at the implication. “I don’t need to answer that. Though shouldn't you focus on calling your boyfriend that, instead?”
"Yeah, I'll call mine pretty if you do the same to yours."
You stuck your tongue out at him at that, retreating back into Regulus to look at your cards.
He had stayed quiet, but you could feel the amusement radiating off him. He gave a subtle shrug, like the teasing was something he was long accustomed to. His knee bumped yours beneath the table, a silent gesture that said let them talk, it doesn't matter.
“Doesn't matter,” you added, taking another sip of your butterbeer with a smirk. “We’re still winning.”
“You two are disgustingly good together,” Barty agreed, leaning back in his chair and lazily drawing a card from the deck. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were the ones cheating.”
Evan snorted. “Shut it, Junior.”
“You adore me,” Barty shot back without missing a beat, pressing a kiss to Evan’s cheek, much to the other boy’s quiet amusement.
The group fell into a rhythm, exchanging playful insults and light bickering as the game progressed. You were deep in conversation with Regulus about your next move when you took another sip of your butterbeer, not realising a bit of foam had clung to your upper lip.
Regulus, ever observant, caught it immediately. You, completely unaware, kept talking, pointing at one of the cards in front of him and suggesting a play. He wasn’t paying attention to the cards anymore, though. Instead, his focus had shifted entirely to the butterbeer foam, and without thinking – without hesitation – he reached up.
His thumb brushed against your upper lip, so soft and natural that you almost didn’t register what was happening until it was done. His touch was tender, deliberate, like it was something he did every day. The action made you pause, your words catching in your throat as his thumb lingered for just a second longer, other knuckles brushing against your cheek, his skin warm against yours.
Your eyes lifted to meet his, and suddenly, everything else seemed to fade away. The loud chatter of the group, the clatter of cards, the clinking of glasses – it all dulled in the background as the two of you became the centre of a much quieter, more intimate world.
Regulus’ gaze was steady, softer than usual, like he was studying you, reading into something deeper. His hand hovered near your face, frozen in place as the moment between you stretched longer than either of you had intended.
You felt your breath hitch slightly, the warmth from his thumb still lingering on your skin, and the look in his eyes made your heart race in a way that had nothing to do with the game. There was something unsaid in the way he looked at you, something that hummed beneath the surface.
Neither of you spoke. The moment hung between you, fragile and delicate, like a thread waiting to be pulled.
For a second, you thought he might say something, or do something more. His thumb lingered, hovering just above your skin, and his eyes flicked to your lips, just for a heartbeat, before darting back to meet your gaze. Your pulse quickened as the silence deepened, the air between you charged with something new, something you weren’t sure either of you were ready to acknowledge.
But before anything could happen, Barty’s loud laugh from across the table shattered the bubble around you. Right. There were other people around.
You blinked, the spell broken, and Regulus pulled his hand back with a soft clearing of his throat. His expression didn’t change much – he was as composed as ever – but there was a subtle pink tinge to his cheeks that told you the moment had affected him just as much as it had you.
“Everything alright there, Reg?” Barty asked, his voice full of smug amusement as he leaned back in his chair, looking between the two of you with a knowing smirk. You felt the heat rise in your face again, but you didn’t let it show, instead giving Regulus a playful nudge under the table with your knee.
Regulus, ever calm, only narrowed his eyes at Barty in return. “Just fine,” he said coolly, though you noticed the faint curve of a smile tugging at his lips. He was used to Barty’s antics by now, and though he could’ve easily snapped back, he chose instead to let the moment pass, his arm brushing lightly against your shoulder as he shifted in his seat.
Barty, however, wasn’t done. “I don’t know, mate. You looked a bit… distracted.”
“Oh, he was,” Sirius chimed in, grinning as he kept his eyes trained on the two of you. “Completely gone. He’s mastered the art of selective hearing.”
You snorted softly, shaking your head. “I’m sure it’s just his natural state from growing up with you. Completely unbothered by all of your nonsense by now.” Deflecting, deflecting.
“I don’t know,” Remus added with a thoughtful look. “He seemed pretty focused on something else entirely.”
You were saved from responding by the loud call of Madam Rosmerta that all Hogwarts students had to leave for curfew. Groans sounded around the room, and around your very own table, but no one dared argue with her – they knew it was no use. Everyone began gathering their things, the light atmosphere continuing with playful jabs and comments flying between the group as they readied to head back out into the cold.
You and Regulus were the first ones out the door, regretfully, as you had to wait for the others. As you stood, tugging your coat tighter around you, the bitter wind immediately stung your fingers. You rubbed them together, trying to chase the chill from your skin, but the cold had already settled in deep.
Without a word, Regulus took your hands gently in his own, his long fingers wrapping around yours with a kind of care that felt second nature to him. Before you could react, he brought your hands to his lips and blew warm air onto them while rubbing with his hands, breath hot against your cold skin.
You blinked in surprise, but the gesture felt so natural, so easy, that it didn’t seem out of place. There was no hesitation, no awkwardness – just Regulus being Regulus, quietly looking after you in the way only he knew how. His hands lingered over yours for a moment longer before he slipped off his gloves and slid them onto your hands with the same gentle touch.
"Better?" he asked, his voice low and fond, almost like he was speaking only to you despite the many students bustling around you.
You nodded, feeling the warmth of the gloves and the lingering heat from his touch. “Much better. Thanks.”
His eyes met yours again, softer this time, and there was that unspoken connection again – only now it felt less like something that needed to be questioned, and more like something that just was.
“Won’t you get cold, though?”
“Nah, you know I run warmer than you.” There was an endearingly teasing tone in Regulus’ voice as he looked past you. “Plus, I’ve got you beside me to keep me warm, right?”
You bit back the always sitting prettily on your tongue, instead just nodding and pressing your nose into his shoulder as you stood close. For warmth, of course.
Sirius and Remus finally make their way outside, Barty and Evan not too far behind them. The first of the bunch give you and Regulus a once over when he sees you huddled together.
“Well, I’m glad to see tonight didn’t change my mind whatsoever that you two are a thing, whether you know it yourselves or not,” he says in a neutral tone, though his creeping smirk betrays him.
“I didn’t know that was still on the table,” you say dryly, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Of course it was!” Sirius scoffs lightheartedly. “You two, sitting there together, basically telepathically in sync. No wonder you always team up for cards – it’s frankly disturbing.”
“Oh, come off it, Siri.” Regulus wasn’t looking at Sirius when the comment slipped off his tongue, so he couldn’t catch the slight hitch at the sound of his childhood nickname. You smile softly at him, but he keeps his eyes on Regulus, seemingly trying to keep steady.
“As your big brother, I don’t think I can. It’s my duty to meddle”
“Leave the kids alone, sweetheart,” Remus says, coming up beside Sirius with a knowing smile. “You’re just jealous you’ve never been able to sit quietly for more than five minutes, let alone work together with someone without bickering the whole time.”
Sirius gasped in mock offence. “That’s because I have passion,” Sirius declared, flipping his hair back with a grin. “It’s not bickering if it’s done with flair.”
Barty finally stepped out to hear that, and, always ready to cause more chaos, chimed in. “Oh, please. You lot wouldn’t know passion if it hit you in the face. Now, we”—he pointed between himself and Evan—“are the real deal. You should’ve seen us strategising earlier. Absolute power couple material.”
“You weren’t even playing together, Barty,” you commented, but he gave you a look that said please.
“My life doesn’t revolve around you lot, we have other things to strategise about. Like Dorcas.”
That received a few “right”s from around the group, to which you lovingly rolled your eyes. Barty blabbered on about something, stalling the group from beginning to move back towards the castle, and you took the opportunity to turn back towards Regulus.
You looked up at him, meeting his gaze, and trying to school your expression as you studied what you found there. The soft crinkle around his eyes, the quiet warmth swirling around his otherwise cool irises. You took his bare hands between your gloved ones, rubbing lightly at them to keep him warm, as promised.
For another beautiful moment, the two of you stood still, lost in your own world. The noise of the others faded into the background as Regulus’ eyes flicked to your lips, just for a split second, before meeting your gaze again. His hands move to hold each of yours independently, fingers intertwining with yours, despite that exposing his skin back to the cold air again.
You felt the flutter in your chest again, and for a brief moment, you wondered if he was thinking the same thing you were – that maybe, just maybe, there was more between you than friendship. Before either of you could say anything, you pulled your gaze away from his, focusing it back to your group of friends, who seemed increasingly eager to walk home.
“Alright, lovebirds, you done being all cute, or do we need to give you more time?” Barty said, looking at you with a smug look on his face.
You felt a flush rise to your cheeks, but you quickly brushed it off, shaking your head. “You never quit, do you, Barty?”
“Never,” he replied, flashing you an exaggerated wink. “You know me too well.”
Regulus shot Barty a sharp look, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. “Maybe you should find a new hobby,” he suggested dryly. “One that doesn’t involve sticking your nose in other people’s business.”
“Oh, but where’s the fun in that?” Barty grinned. “Besides, I’d be out of material if you two would just finally–”
“Barty,” Evan interrupted, giving him a pointed look as he slid an arm around his waist. “Let them be.”
Barty pouted dramatically, but he relented, leaning into Evan as they started walking. “Fine, fine. But I’m just saying – it’s only a matter of time.”
Sirius looked baffled at how easily Evan made Barty shut up, mumbling something about we should always bring him with to Remus.
Regulus shook his head, his arm brushing against yours as you fell in step beside each other, trailing behind the rest of the group. Your hands were still warm inside his gloves, and every now and then, your shoulders would brush as you walked, the quiet connection between you speaking louder than words ever could.
Regulus glanced down at you, his expression thoughtful. The quiet between you felt comfortable, but there was an intensity in the way he looked at you, something that made your breath catch again.
All that was running through Regulus' head was how beautiful you looked in the nighttime, surrounded by cold air that came out in white puffs when you breathed. How beautiful you had looked inside by the fire, laughing beside him, butterbeer foam on your lips – or better yet, his thumb on your lips. He realised as he walked that you were always on his mind like this, and you were always so unbelievably beautiful.
And finally, he realised that when he had looked at your lips, he wanted to kiss them.
Regulus knew that if he ever got the bollocks to do so, Barty would never let him live it down.

Getting Together
main masterlist
regulus black x potter!reader universe
word count: 1.4 k
note: been sitting on this for a while lol
takes place during the marauders 6th year and Reg's 5th
Sat criss-cross on the bathroom counter, Y/n held her hair out of her face in a make/shift ponytail while she finished her eyeliner, Sirius was sat on the toilet lid while he waited for his turn with the girl’s eyeliner.
The gang™ was getting ready for a Hufflepuff party, they may be kind and hard-working students but damn that house could party.
“I probably won’t stay long, I've got a tummy ache.” “Well, I’m sure Remus would be willing to come back here with you.” – “What about Remus?” James said, walking into their shared bathroom to brush his teeth before the party (planning to kiss Lily, though he will most likely fail once again)
“Nothing.” Y/n said casually before going back to her eyeliner, hitting her brother’s hand out of the way of opening their mirror cabinet.
James asks, with his mouth full of toothpaste and his toothbrush hanging out of his mouth, “Are we balding?”
“‘We’?” She looked at him through the mirror and planned to tell him how thick-headed he sounded, but got distracted by her small bald spot. “Wait- do you’ve the same?” “Yeah,-” “I think it’s just our hairlines.” “You think?”
Sirius may have a brother but, much to his own dismay, never had that sibling dynamic with Regulus, they loved each other but due to their upbringing they showed their love quietly. So he always found James and Y/n’s back and forth moments as foreign as the rest of the boys did since neither Peter or Remus had siblings.
-
The group of five entered the Hufflepuff common room, James immediately went to the drinks, dragging Remus with him, while Sirius dragged Peter and the girl with him to the dance floor. The two others eventually brought the rest their own cups, Y/n danced but it felt like whenever she looked up she noticed her newest roommate.
This past summer break Sirius and Regulus run away and have since been living at the Potter’s, which both twins were relieved about, they knew about the Blacks.
Regulus was nursing his drink while leaning against the fireplace, his long fingers wrapped around the cup, mumbling some sarcastic comment to Barty, until they linked eyes through the room full of wasted students. Though it felt like it broke as fast as it formed when Sirius tapped her on the shoulder and informed her of the girl Peter was about to ask to dance, pushing him aside she began to fix Peter’s hair by brushing pieces out of his face and flattening his shirt.
“Go get ‘er, Pete!” “Okay.” She laughed at his awkwardness. Peter could always make her laugh, though that could be said about all the boys, Peter had the type of humour that even he himself didn’t know when he was being funny and the biggest laughs came when he wasn’t trying.
Overall the party went well, Sirius didn’t leave too long after that interaction, Remus going with him for whatever fake reason he gave this time, Pete ending up leaving with that girl, and James after not winning over Evans yet again, went back to the dorm no doubt unknowingly interrupting a moment between Sirius and Remus.
But Y/n couldn’t bring herself to go back to the dorm just yet, she liked the fresh air and the time away from the boys. It was when she went farther down a trail for a smoke that she saw the black-headed boy she’s grown to know well after the summer.
“Hey, Reg.” “Hello.”
Regulus was just getting comfortable around her when school came around again, one of the many reasons it took so long to be comfortable around the older girl was since he could remember he had liked her. The summer after Sitius’ first year he showed Reg some pictures of his new friends, and the second he saw Y/n he was gone.
The girl walked closer to the bench Regulus was sitting on and sat herself next to him, neither’s eyes leaving their view of the black lake for more than a couple seconds.
“My brother and your friends just abandoned you?” “Sirius went back to the dorm, had a stomach bug and Renus went with him an-” “Those two finally?” “How’d you know about that?” “Sirius is my brother and I know him rather well.” “I guess you do… Want-?” She gestured for him to grab her cigarette, he shook his head ‘no’ which was an uncommon answer around here, but it sorta made sense that Regulus wouldn’t, she supposes he’s proper that way.
“So what about your friends?” “Pandora doesn’t really do parties, and I’m sure Barty and Evan are off somewhere.” “Well I’m glad we both got abandoned.” She looked up to face the crescent moon, not thinking too hard about how Regulus would interpret her words. She liked when he did. All summer she had made comments like that one, she enjoyed the blush that would rise to the tips of his ears.
“Why’s that?” “I like being with you.” The boy’s head shoots up from it staring at the grass beneath their feet to look at her beside him.
“Y-you do?” “Yeah!...” Her pause made Regulus assure that he read that ‘being with you’ thing wrong, because of course she wouldn’t date him; she’s a year older, the most gorgeous girl he’s ever seen, as well as the nicest. But in actuality, Y/n has been trying to hint that she likes Regulus since the beginning of the summer. Yet the boy was most oblivious to people truly caring about him, he didn’t believe it possible; that only made her want to show him even more.
“Reg, I really like being with you..” She said, expectantly, enunciating every word to get it through his self-loathing skull. It was when she raised her eyebrows at him that it hit him, he was not imagining it. Not at all.
“Really? Me?” “Yes.” “Oh… I did not expect that.” Whether it was meant to be said out loud or not, it made Y/n laugh so Regulus was thankful he did, he liked her laugh. Still unmoving, Y/n makes the first move yet again.
She grabbed the end of his Slytherin tie, twirling it between her finger tips before grabbing it in a fist to pull the younger boy in. Her lips covered his own, gently they moved together, her hand went to his and placed them on her waist and then hers went to the side of his neck, all while holding her cigarette in the other. The taste of said cigarette lingered in her mouth adding to the addicting taste of her and her almost gone strawberry lip gloss.
Finally pulling back, both slightly out of breath, they took a moment to gather themselves. The Potter girl took a final drag before putting it out with her heel.
“I gotta get going, Reg.” “Oh-” “If you're free after classes tomorrow I’d love to meet back here.. We could talk, or just be with each other.” “Yeah. I would really like that.” “Good. Okay, I’ve really got to go though, James gets worried when any of us stay out too late.”
She waited a second before turning on her heels to begin her walk, though the sound of footsteps stopped her in her tracks and Regulus came up next to her, “As you mentioned it’s late, it would be the gentlemanly thing to do to walk you to your common room.” “Well gee, what a gentleman I’ve got on my hands.”
Their conversation flowed as they walked the long walk to Gryffindor Tower. And though they got plenty of time together Y/n couldn't help the slight disappointment when they arrived at the portrait hole.
“This is my stop.” “Yes.” “I don’t feel very gentlemanly now that you have to walk all the way to the dungeons now, why don’t I walk you?” “Then I would walk you back here and we would be in a terrible loop.” “The loops not so terrible if I’m spending the whole time with you.”
If another student were to hear their conversation, see the love stricken grin on the girl's face, and the red face of Regulus they would most likely throw up from the sheer cheesy-ness. And to make matters for the state of the blush on his face worse, Y/n placed a soft peck on Regulus’ lips one last time.
“Now get outta her, I’m not allowed to let other houses hear the password, especially not snakes like yourself.” That sentence from just about any other Gryffindor would have offended him, but everything Y/n said felt like it came from a good place.
“Okay. Goodnight.” “Night, Reg.” She laughed out, due to his seriousness. She then held on to her word and didn’t say the password until he was out of ear shot, watching him as he left.

“Hold on, hold—What did you say?”
Sirius stepped out onto the moonlit porch of the cottage and put a finger over his free ear—as if it was his fault he could barely hear the words his little brother was saying. Regulus’ call had come half-way through washing up after dinner, Julian begging for a nighttime game of pick-up, and Hope laughing at Remus for eating the last of the apple pie straight from the dish. He’d assumed he was calling about travel plans, but he hadn’t expected the thumping music in the background or cacophony of laughing voices.
“I said I’m driving up day after tomorrow,” Regulus shouted, then laughed at something and said hello to someone, telling them to make themselves at home.
Sirius briefly wondered where he’d picked up the phrase and learned to use it so easily. It wasn’t like they’d heard it much. Make yourself at home. Instantly, Sirius thought of that basement bedroom at Pascal’s, and their warm kitchen—the kids doing homework, Celeste and Pascal cooking. Sirius, you don’t have to ask for water or anything else. Please, help yourself.
“I know that,” Sirius shouted back to Regulus, even though he probably didn’t have to. “You—ouais, you already told me that?”
“Oh. I did? Okay!”
“Ouais, I—” Sirius turned as Remus’ face appeared through the screen door, a questioning look on his face.
“You good?” Remus asked. “You’re yelling?”
Sirius pulled the phone away a bit. “I think my brother is drunk calling me.” He pressed the speaker back to his cheek. “Are you okay?”
Remus, obviously trying not to laugh, retreated back into the house.
“I just wanted to call,” Regulus shouted in his ear. “I just wanted to say, see you soon. Just wanted to say I’m glad this is—”
There was a long pull of silence, during which Sirius couldn’t tell if Regulus was talking to someone else, had dropped his phone perhaps, or was just thinking.
“I’m glad…” He began finally. “I mean, I’m glad these things happened.”
He didn’t sound drunk, Sirius supposed. He just sounded…unsure.
“What things?” Sirius asked.
“Everything.”
“What?”
“I just wanted to call you! And hear your voice, Sirius, fuck.”
“Why? Are you okay?”
More cursing, a blend of French and English. “Yes. Nothing has to be wrong for me to want to talk to you.”
“I…Ouais, okay.”
It seemed like he had moved somewhere quieter, but only by a bit. There was still music, low and filled with quick-lyrics, and Sirius caught passing parts of English conversations. Sirius picked out one voice, a girl, who said Regulus’ name and find me later.
“Who is that?” Sirius asked, then felt stupid.
Regulus didn’t hear him, busy telling the girl something before the speaker rustled, back against his ear.
“So. Finn and Alex go running every day,” Regulus shouted over the music. “I mean, when they can. When they’re in the same city.”
Sirius hadn’t known that, but, then again, Regulus probably spent more time with the Cubs. He should stop thinking of them as the Cubs. That had been Finn and Logan during their rookie seasons, and then Leo, but they didn’t really deserve that anymore. Especially not with a Cup.
“I—That’s nice.” Sirius looked towards the lake. The waves were soft tonight. All the boats had long gone home. Did he want to go running together? “I thought you were sort of done with…”
“No, I don’t want to run, I just…”
For the next few seconds, and Sirius pulled his phone back to watch some of the time go by on the screen, there was more silence. This was their way. He wished it wasn’t, he wished he had the right words to fill every part of his brother’s mind until he could cancel out all the wrong ones. But half-finished sentences it was. Half-thoughts that somehow found completion once they both stuttered and tried a few dozen times.
“I’m just saying,” Regulus said. “I’m just saying that when I get there, I’m your brother not your house guest.”
Sirius looked back towards the screen door at that, hoping Remus would be there. House guest? What did that mean?
“Did that sound bad?” Regulus said loudly.
“Non,” Sirius said. “I—non. I don’t—okay.” He was sort of panicking. Dumo would have known what to say. “I’m—sorry.”
“Non. C’est—Non. I’m saying it all wrong.”
Finn and Alex run. House guest.
“I…” Sirius cleared his throat. “Reg, I can barely hear you. I don’t know…I don’t know what else… I didn’t mean to make you feel like we’re…”
Not as good as other brothers.
“I just mean.” Over everything, he did hear the breath Regulus let out. Someone else said his name through a laugh and a hello. “Hi, yeah, come on in.”
Sirius waited, unsure how to have this conversation with music and other people right there.
“I should probably go,” Regulus said. “Sorry, I know you’re with everyone. And I know I’m—it’s loud, sorry. I don’t know.”
“I’m not with everyone,” Sirius said.
“Ha, right.”
Something definitely took a tumble in the background. The music soared up, louder, and Regulus cursed.
“Shit,” he said. “Sorry! Someone—Sirius?”
“I’m here,” Sirius said. “I’m right here.”
“I should…” The next words, shouted like they were talking to each other over a windstorm, still hit Sirius somewhere soft and gentle. “Hey, I get to stand next to you, right? On the day? Your day.”
Sirius pressed a hand over his chest and found the lake blurring through what must be a few tears. That. That had surprised him. It probably shouldn’t have.
“Please,” Sirius said, then laughed a little when Regulus did. “Yeah, you’ll stand next to me.”
“Good. Okay, good.” Someone else said Regulus’ name.
Sirius realized he still thought of him as his quiet brother, half pressed against the sides of rooms so nothing could surprise him.
He felt only pure relief in realizing that wasn’t true anymore.
“I love you,” Regulus said suddenly, a gasp of breath almost. “So. Yeah, I do. And I’ll see you soon.”
“I—see you soon,” Sirius said, staring, unseeing, at the lake. “I love you, too, Reg.”
He sort of forgot to go back inside. He didn’t know how long he’d been sitting on the top porch step until a blanket appeared around his shoulders and Remus sat down close enough to press their hips and shoulders together.
“Is he okay?” Remus asked. “You’ve been out here for a while, I couldn’t tell if you were still on the phone.”
“Sorry,” Sirius said. “I didn’t help with dishes.”
“More than enough hands for that.” Remus turned Sirius’ hand over and traced a line of his palm with his thumb. “Everyone’s gone up to bed.”
“He just said he…” Sirius cleared his throat. “He just wanted to call me.”
Remus nodded. “Okay…Is he all good?”
Sirius nodded. “Yeah, he—he said Finn and Alex go running together when they’re in the same city. And that when he gets here, I should treat him like a brother? Not like a house guest?”
Remus laughed, just a little. “Well, okay, then. Blunt, as usual.”
“I have no idea what any of it meant.” Sirius rubbed a hand through his hair. “I don’t think he was actually drunk? I mean, I don’t know.”
“Sounds like he wants to spend time with you.”
Sirius shook his head, bewildered. “Sounds like he wishes we were Finn and Alex. Merde, or you and Jules. I don’t…”
“No,” Remus said, hand hooking over Sirius’ shoulder. He rested his chin there, too.
“Yes.” Sirius sighed. “I don’t know. He was so… He has all of these friends, and then he said he loved me, and asked if he gets to stand next to me. I thought—I mean, of course?”
“Did you tell him that?”
“Yes.”
“No, I mean before.”
“Well—Before when?”
Remus squeezed his arm. “He might have thought you’d choose James. Or Pascal. Julian said he thought I was going to choose Thomas when I told him he’d be next to me.” Sirius felt Remus’ quiet laugh against his neck. “Then he googled weddings and got all freaked out I was going to make him give a speech.”
Sirius smiled. “Oh God, Reg is not going to give a speech, there’s no way.”
“That’s fine,” Remus said. “We have a lot of people who are going to want to say something. I went with my dad and sorted out the whole music, sound-system situation today. I don’t know if we’re going to be able to stop potential karaoke.”
“Oh God. James.”
“Yeah.”
“Finn.”
“What, you’re not going to sing me a song, Black?”
“There’s a lot of things I’ll do for you…That’s maybe not one.”
“Well, damn.”
“Unless you…like, really want me to.”
“I would never torture you like that.”
Sirius pressed his smile into Remus’ cheek, enjoying the way Remus leaned further against him. Something made the nearby waves pick up, and Sirius closed his eyes, suddenly wanting to be in their room with the windows open, listening to them as they fell asleep.
“We owe your entire family a vacation,” Sirius said. “A long one.”
“For real, though,” Remus laughed. When Sirius put his hand out, Remus laced their fingers together. “Hey.”
Sirius looked down at him. He had more freckles than Sirius had ever seen him with. They dotted across his nose and cheeks. They would be there for their wedding photographs. Something about them made Remus look like he had when Sirius had first met him in his Lions staff jacket. Hi, Sirius? I’m Remus Lupin. Is there anything I can do for you?
Remus hooked a finger in the neck of his shirt, pulling his attention back to right then.
“You’re the one who found a whole new sort of family,” Remus said. “It’s good Regulus is doing that, too.”
“I know.”
“And you’re doing it again. You’re my family and we’re yours. That includes Reg—believe me. If you don’t make him know it, my mom will.”
Sirius smiled. “Hope Lupin versus Regulus Black. That—oh, what’s the thing your dad says?”
“Which thing?”
“Ah…” Sirius squinted upwards, carding a hand through Remus’ hair. “Oh. We love to see it.”
Remus tilted his head back, laughing. “We love to see it. Oh my God. You’re funny that you remember that.”
They leaned their heads together. The waves had quieted. Sirius watched Remus’ thumb make slow tracks over his knuckles and wrist. The woods around them rustled, and a cluster of crickets sang somewhere close by. Sirius still couldn’t believe how many stars he could see here.
“I know we just said how much help we’re getting with wedding things,” Remus said quietly. “And that we owe them a vacation, so we should probably stick around. But…”
“But?” Sirius said, then he couldn’t help himself anymore and leaned in to kiss Remus. He made a soft, happy sound. Sirius pressed his thumb over his engagement ring.
“Do you maybe,” Remus hardly leaned away to speak, “want to drive somewhere tomorrow?”
“Just us,” Sirius said, and kissed him again, then again, in time with the hush of the lake’s shore.
“Just us.”

“No.”
Finn laughed as he reached the end of the pier before Alex, catching himself on the railing. He pulled back, letting himself hold on by his fingertips as he tilted his head up to the sky and let out a whoop.
“I win,” he shouted. “I fucking win.”
“I let you win,” Alex panted. He had his hands on his knees and was trying to blink sweat out of his eyes. “Tell me, who’s in the playoffs right now and needs to conserve their strength? Oh yeah. Me.”
“Fuck off,” Finn said. “I’m not even out of breath.”
“That’s because you’re a freak.”
Finn reached forward and flicked the bill of Alex’s cap up, knocking it to the ground.
Alex swiped at him, making to hit him in the groin, but Finn jumped back, out of reach. Alex scowled as he picked up his hat.
Finn turned back towards the water. The day’s heat was catching on now and he adjusted his own cap, pushing his sweaty hair back.
“No training today, right?” Finn asked.
“Nope.” Alex came to stand beside him. “Day off. Tomorrow, though. Morning’s optional. Do you know if Tremz is going?”
“I’ll ask him.”
They walked in the sun until they could cross back across the road and the smooth pavement of the river paths turned into the West Village’s cobblestones. There was a cluster of dogs outside of their regular coffee shop and Finn saw Alex snap a photograph of a particularly glossy golden retriever and send it off to Kasey.
“Are you bringing breakfast back or are they meeting you?” Alex asked.
“Lo’s probably sleeping still—bringing back.”
Alex nodded. “Do you—like urgently, or—Want to sit for a bit?”
Finn raised his eyebrows. “Yeah, I wanna sit. Are you okay?”
Alex turned his hat backwards as they went inside the shop. “Why?”
“You just started three different sentences.”
Alex kept his eyes on the menu. “I just—What are you poking me for, I want to have coffee with you, I’m being nice.”
Finn put his hands up. “Okay. Be nice, then.”
They ordered and found a table out front, so small they had to sit side-by-side to avoid being in the middle of the sidewalk. It was half in the shade of a tree and in the shadow of a row of Citi Bikes. Finn watched Alex fidget with his straw.
“How’s your shoulder?” Finn asked.
“What? Oh, fine. Just one of those things. Doesn’t bother me enough to bother me.”
Finn nodded. “Yeah. Lo’s got that with one of his calves. Doesn’t bother him on the ice but at home he’s all—you know. Harz, Le, can you get that, my leg.”
Alex laughed. “Let me guess. You get it for him.”
“So what if we do?”
“Shocker.”
Finn laughed, shaking the ice cubes around in his cup. “Whatever.”
They watched two beagles pass by, one coming over to sniff intently at Finn’s shoe. Finn asked if he could pet them, mostly trying to give Alex a moment to say whatever he wasn’t saying. He ran his palm over the dog’s soft ears, smiled at the warm kisses of its tongue against his wrist, and nodded his thanks to the owner who continued on.
“They’re not getting married. Yet.”
Finn watched the dogs go for another moment. Their white-tipped tails swished happily in unison. Twins. Brothers.
Finn turned back in his seat and took a sip of his coffee. Alex was looking at him out of the corner of his eye. He had one of his knees bouncing. When it rattled the table, he stopped.
“Hello?” Alex sighed.
Finn put an arm around him and pulled them together. The bill of Alex’s hat, low on the back of his neck, bumped into Finn’s nose, but Finn just held on tighter.
“Al…” Finn squeezed him hard. “Thank God, fuck.”
“I—yeah.” Alex sighed, slumping into him a little. “Guess you were right. I was worried. And sad.”
“I know,” Finn said. He pulled back. “How is everything now?”
Alex laughed, rubbing at his jaw. “Fuck. So much better. It’s like I was using half my lungs or something.”
“Don’t I know that feeling.”
“Yeah, what is up with us?”
“Mm…I don’t know. Maybe mom knows.”
Alex shook his head like he was still clearing the fog of these last months. He turned his face up towards the sunlight coming through the trees. “Yeah, she probably knows. Anyway…”
Finn raised his eyebrows and Alex shrugged.
“There you have it,” Alex said.
“There you have it? C’mon, how’d it go down?”
Alex groaned. “It went down, that’s all that matters.”
“Alex. What happened to telling each other things?”
“There’s nothing to tell. Natalie and I talked and then Kasey and I talked and—I don’t know, I confessed?”
“Al.”
“And I cried.” Alex slapped his hand to his thigh, laughing a little. “Which was—nice. But embarrassing.” He messed with his straw again, the paper scratching against the plastic lid. “I don’t think I even—really knew how worried I was. I think I assumed they would get tired of me. And I was just going to have to be okay with that.”
“I’ll beat up anyone who thinks they could get tired of you.”
Alex smiled slightly. “I’m glad I was wrong.”
“O’Haras don’t do sometimes. We’re all-day-every-day.”
“Ha, yeah. I guess that’s true.”
“So, you’re spending the summer together?”
“Yeah, gonna go to California, train with one of Kase and I’s old teammates. See Natalie’s family. What are you guys doing after the wedding?”
“France,” Finn said. “New Orleans.”
“Fancy you.”
Finn smiled. “Lo’s hoping for a Cup day in August, obviously, and he wants to bring it to Harvard with Percy and Will.”
“You gonna go?”
Finn nodded. “I want to take Leo all around. I mean…If he wants. I think he’ll like it? But I don’t want it to feel like…”
“‘Here are all the things we did without you?’”
“Yeah, exactly.” Finn stretched his legs out under the table. “I want—I’d mean it like, look, this is special now because you’re here, too. I mean, it was special before with just Lo, but it was also just…”
“Sad,” Alex finished.
“Yeah.” Finn laughed. “Are you going to finish all my—”
“Sentences.”
“Al—”
“—ex, stop,” Alex wined, then laughed loudly when Finn punched his arm.
“Okay, I’m done having coffee with you.”
Alex laughed and stood up. “Yeah, yeah, if you don’t get Tremz his chocolate he’ll bite you.”
“I mean, you’re—”
“—not wrong,” Alex said, then jumped out of Finn’s reach.
“Alex.”
“Okay, okay.” Alex lifted an arm and pulled Finn in. “See you later, yeah?” He pulled back and flicked his forehead. “Love you, Fish.”
Finn squinted one eye closed. “If you say so.”
Finn waited until Alex was halfway down the street, fishing his keys out of his pocket.
“I love you, too!” Finn shouted.
Alex turned to laugh, shaking his head.
Finn shut the front door to Logan’s apartment as quietly as he could. He set the croissant bag down on the counter, along with his keys and wallet, humming as he went. There were signs that Leo had been awake. Some coffee in the glass pour-over container, and his phone on the counter.
“Of course you and Remus are both morning hummers.”
Finn turned sharply towards the living room. “Whoa.”
Regulus’ sharp smile flashed and faded from where he sat on their couch. “Hey there.”
“Hi. Sorry.”
“No, my bad, I should have said something.”
“No. I mean—all good.” Finn took down a plate for the pastries. “Does morning hummer mean what I think it means?”
Regulus raised his eyebrows. “Uh. I don’t know. What does it mean?”
“Well…” Finn glanced in the direction of the bedroom. “Well, what do you think it mea—”
“Let’s just drop it.”
“Yeah, good idea.” Finn took a sip of his coffee. “If I’d known you were coming over, I’d have brought you something.”
“It’s all right,” Regulus said. “Leo said I are getting breakfast before I head up to Remus’ lake house tomorrow.”
“Ah, yes. Wedding. Best man, right?”
“I think James thinks he is, but it’s me.”
“Of course it’s you!” Leo emerged from the direction of the bedrooms, freshly showered, and pressed a kiss to Finn’s cheek. “Morning, Harz. You look so cute. Little tomato.”
“Thanks? I think.” He twisted Leo’s gray streak, still damp, once around his finger. “Sleep okay?”
“Second half of the night, yeah.” Leo let Finn run a hand over his hair, eyes closing happily. “How’s Alex?”
“He’s good. I beat him home, so, ha.” Finn put a thumb over Leo’s bottom lip. “Where’s our pet hockey player?”
Leo laughed, took his hand, and kissed it. “Still snoozing.”
Yes. Finn set the plate down. “Cool. I’m going to…” He glanced at Regulus. “Go say hi to him and then shower.”
“Say hi to him?” Leo repeated with a snort. “Okay, call it what you want, I guess. Reg and I are getting breakfast. Oh, and I think we’re going to his friend’s birthday party tonight—you wanna come?”
“Love to.” Finn looked at Regulus. “Is that okay?”
“Of course it’s okay,” Regulus said, standing. “Logan, too, if he wants.”
“We’ll see if he feels like he’s gotta lie low,” Leo said. He shrugged at Finn who nodded. Then Leo made a happy sound and wrapped his arms around Finn’s shoulders. “Party with you, I like the sound of that.” He pressed a firm kiss to Finn’s mouth and it felt like sparking wires. “I love you, I love you, you’re sweaty, ew, I love you.” He kissed Finn’s cheeks before whispering in his ear. “I know what you’re up to, you better change those sheets.”
“You got it, lover,” Finn whispered back.
“You guys are really bad at whispering,” Regulus said. He was standing by the door now. “Le, I want waffles.”
“I want that special quiche they had that one time, fingers crossed.” Leo grabbed his wallet and keys, then stumbled a bit when Finn reeled him back in, straight into one more kiss.
“I love you,” Finn said. “Have fun.”
“You taste like summer,” Leo smiled. “See you tonight. Let Lo know and we’ll text you the address.”
“Tell Logan congrats on making the finals,” Regulus called, then the apartment door swung shut.
Finn slipped through their open bedroom door, undoing his watch as he went. He smiled at the sight that waited for him. Logan was sprawled across the whole bed, like he was searching for them even as he was asleep. He was on his back, bare save for the tight gray briefs that he favored, and his chin was tilted up with his arms by his head. The sheets were low enough to show his tattoo. Finn’s heart picked up just looking at him. He could feel himself getting turned on. Logan and Leo both liked making love in the morning, and if Finn wasn’t careful, he’d see every sunrise and get endlessly hopeful each time.
Finn sat on the edge of the bed, pushing his sweaty hair off his forehead. Logan didn’t stir. He put a hand on Logan’s hip, thumbing over the dark ink. Nothing. He leaned over and pressed a kiss right to the center of Logan’s chest. That got a deeper breath, one of only just waking up.
Logan peeked an eye open and then, seeing Finn, closed them again and let a slow, sleepy smile spread over his face.
“Hi,” Finn whispered. “Good morning.”
“Mmm…Cœur.” Logan kicked back the covers. “Did you run?”
“Yeah, just got back.”
Logan stretched, his back arching. By the sly, tired look in his eye he knew exactly what he looked like. “Do you want to…”
Finn nodded, rubbing a palm high over Logan’s inner thigh. “I really fucking do.”
The sound Logan made next was low in his throat and pleased. “Come here.”
“Leo doesn’t like it when I bring outside sweat into the sheets,” Finn said—just to make him ask again.
“Good thing they’re my sheets,” Logan said.
Finn laughed and reached behind him to yank off his shirt. “That’s true.”
He shed his shorts and socks, too, and Logan tugged him down by the band of his underwear.
“If someone told you I was a morning hummer…” Finn mumbled into his kiss.
Logan threw a leg around Finn’s hip and pushed him onto his back. “Who’s someone?”
“Not Leo.”
Logan settled his weight down over Finn’s clothed cock and rocked slightly. He pressed one more kiss to Finn’s mouth before putting his hands against Finn’s chest and sitting himself upright. “Not sure I like that someone else knows that.”
Finn smoothed his hands over Logan’s strong thighs, so warm from being tucked under the covers. “That’s what I thought. Regulus just said—”
Logan froze. “Like, here?”
“Regulus was in our living room. Emphasis on was. Him and Le are at breakfast now, so…”
Logan sighed happily and rolled his hips again. “Oh.”
Finn hissed a breath through his teeth. “Yeah, baby, carry on. He says congrats on making the final round, by the way. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a few trips to Colorado. Not too many though.”
“Me too,” Logan said absently, more intent on palming Finn through the cotton material of his briefs, then himself. Finn could have lay there forever. He covered Logan’s hand with his and tucked a thumb into the front slip of his briefs to feel the silk of him.
Logan pushed into his touch, then bent to kiss him before reaching for the bedside table. Logan held the jar they kept there out to Finn and bit his lip around a smile.
“Oh, now he’s bashful,” Finn said, taking it.
Logan let loose his full grin and fell forward, tucking his face into Finn’s neck to bite at the sweat-damp skin. It was a bit of a tangle, ridding themselves of the rest of their clothes, and Finn laughed softly at the way Logan splayed his thighs wide over his lap, grinding their half-hard cocks together.
“You smell,” Logan whispered.
“Well, if I recall what I’ve learned about you over these many years—”
But then Logan was kissing him, licking into his mouth until Finn bit down on his lower lip just to hear his low groan. Logan moved down to kiss the salt from his jaw and neck, firm lips and quick dashes of his tongue and sharp, just on the side of not-too-hard nips from his teeth. Finn wondered what Logan would say if he asked him to just cover him in those biting kisses entirely and take his time about it.
“Did you have sweet dreams?” Finn asked, unscrewing the jar’s top.
“I’m in one,” Logan said, pulling back to watch Finn slick his fingers. “Did you have a good run?”
“Yeah,” Finn said, watching the way Logan’s eyes trained on his hand. “Got a chocolate croissant from that coffee shop by the river.”
Logan’s eyes darted to his, affronted.
Finn reached down and smoothed his hand over Logan’s ass. “Don’t give me that look.” He enjoyed the way Logan’s breathing hitched when he dug his palm into his muscles. “I don’t go near a bakery without leaving with something for my Lo.”
“Finn,” Logan whispered shakily.
“My sweet tooth creature of chocolate and sour candy.”
Logan pressed back against Finn’s slick touch.
“Of course it’s chocolate that turns you on.”
“You turn me on—” Logan cut off as Finn’s fingers found home, brows drawing together. His knees tightened around Finn’s hips. “Ah…”
Finn pressed his smile into Logan’s temple, then turned it into a kiss. They had time, so Finn kept his touches slow. The sun was coming through the window, lighting up dust in the air and throwing a warm slant across Logan’s lower back. Logan lay down against his chest and Finn could feel each one of his steady breaths. He kissed Finn’s skin every once in a while. Finn stroked his free fingers through Logan’s hair. It was almost like he was going to be put back to sleep, save for the needy thrum of his heart Finn could feel if he pressed a palm to his back. His skin still held that solid sort of heat he always had when he was sleeping, the warmth Leo and him always pressed their freezing fingers against in the middle of the night. Most people, Finn guessed as he felt Logan’s cock began to get wet between their stomachs, would shy away from any cold touch in their sleep. A slumbering Logan, however, always seemed to give them more room to warm up.
“Feels good?” Finn murmured. He scratched gentle fingers down the back of Logan’s neck and used the leverage of his other, slightly tweaking wrist to press deeper inside Logan’s body. More oil, a third finger that made Logan press his forehead into Finn’s chest and push back against his hand.
“Yeah,” Logan said. “Mhm, fuck.”
Finn rolled his head against the pillow to catch a good look at Logan’s parted mouth and shut, blissful eyes. His lashes cast those gorgeous shadows.
“You’re so fucking strong right now,” Finn said. “Fucking big, it’s…” Logan’s shoulders, the powerful muscles of his back, made Finn’s cock ache. He pressed hard into Logan, gentle with the pads of his fingers, until the corded muscles in Logan’s back shifted like rippling light and Logan gasped out a sound. “God, Lo, I love it.”
Logan’s laugh was a huffy, embarrassed sound, but his cheeks were pink and proud as he pushed himself to sit up, palms on Finn’s chest. Finn’s hand slipped out of him, but Logan was already reaching for the jar, then taking Finn in his hand, in both hands, to give him slow, smooth strokes.
Finn’s hips were pinned by Logan’s weight and he dug his nails into Logan’s thighs, trapped there with nothing to do but try to breathe through the sight of Logan’s scarred-knuckled hands around his cock. Logan watched, too, then darted his eyes to Finn’s face.
“I love your voice,” Logan said softly. His accent, sated already, dragged his words like a hand through clear water. He pushed himself onto his knees and positioned Finn’s cock, pausing to rub it against himself for a moment. “I love when it sounds like I’ve had you already and we haven’t even started.”
Finn just smiled and ran a hand through the mess Logan had left on his stomach. Then he felt the heat. Logan’s heat. It locked around him and Logan’s head dropped back in one, satisfied motion as he worked himself slowly down.
Finn’s toes curled and he dug his heels into the mattress. “Lo.”
“Mm,” Logan smiled up at the ceiling, eyes closed. He didn’t move. He stayed still, adjusting, before lifting himself so Finn could watch his cock slip nearly all the way out of him. Logan’s mouth fell open slightly, lost in the feeling if sinking down again. Finn, looking up from the mesmerizing sight of where they fit together, had expected his eyes to still be closed. But Logan was watching him.
“Sometimes, I can’t believe it’s you,” Logan whispered. He smoothed his palms up Finn’s chest over his heart. “I’m so—” He cut off as Finn accidentally slipped out of him. The sudden lack of contact ached and Finn hissed as his shaft jolted, seeking Logan and dripping beads of want from its tip.
“Non…” Logan began to say.
“Here, baby,” Finn was there, holding his hips and guiding them together again. “God.”
Finn felt his cock pulse, watched Logan feel it inside by the look on his face, saw the gleaming evidence of being as close to the edge as he was when Logan pushed himself up again. Finn splayed his hands over Logan’s ribs.
“So good,” Logan whispered. “You feel so good…”
Finn bent his knees, planting his feet on the bed to lift up into Logan’s body. It was the moments before the fall when he never felt deep enough, when ever part of him wanted to hear the sound of his skin moving against Logan’s more than anything.
He gripped Logan’s thighs, his fingers pressing indents into the strong muscle, and relished in the weight of Logan’s hands on his chest as he tried to keep his balance even as his breathing uneven. Logan reached behind him, hooking an elbow around Finn’s knee and found his rhythm again, letting himself fall down as Finn pushed up.
“Lo,” Finn grit out. It half-occurred to Finn that he should be doing most of the work, that Logan had other performances to pay attention to, but the blinding heat around him banished those thoughts quickly enough.
When Logan began to come, Finn knew he was only halfway there. He didn’t touch himself. Didn’t move to have Finn touch him.
“Ah—Ah—” Logan was loud. Hoarse, panting sounds fell from him that Finn swore were going to make him come. He reached down and pushed on the root of himself, trying to starve it off. Logan wasn’t done.
Logan leaned forward and fucked himself back on Finn in quicker snaps now as he painted strips of white over Finn’s body. Finn tilted his head back into the pillows, relishing the silky splash that reached up his chest, and the rhythmic squeezing of Logan’s orgasm around his cock.
“Fuck,” Finn said, hand circling Logan’s cock in a tight grip. “Oh, fuck, Lo, keep doing that, keep…”
Logan braced his hands on Finn’s ribs and began to push himself harder, hardly lifting off at all.
“Come here,” Logan whispered. He tangled his hands in Finn’s hair, gripping tightly, and kissed him.
Finn didn’t break the kiss as he went, just let Logan lick up his gasps. He pushed Logan onto his back in the rough, tumbling way he liked and hardly gave him any time for a please little laugh before he was grinding his cock into him, aiming straight for what would get Logan close to the edge of another one.
“Uh—” Logan pressed his teeth around Finn’s jaw, then dragged a half-kiss across his cheek until they were kissing as Finn rocked into him. “Yes, yes, Finn, yes…”
“I know.” Finn’s words sounded shaky to himself as he spread his palms down Logan’s back. He kissed the corner of Logan’s parted lips, the side of his nose, the high of his cheek. He caught a flash of green and Logan was suddenly looking at him again. It was written all over his face, how good he thought Finn felt inside. Finn could feel it in the half-smile they gave each other just before it was too much again and Logan dipped his fingers into Finn’s hair and brought their foreheads together. He felt it in the span of Logan’s hand down his back, then the way he cupped Finn’s jaw just to kiss him again through their mixed, heavy breaths.
Finn pressed his cock deep into him, almost straining for more, and stayed, and stayed, sucking a bruise into Logan’s neck until he felt him seize up around him and come between them again with a gasp. Finn smiled to himself.
“Good,” Finn whispered as he began to move again, chasing after his own now. “I’m gonna…”
“Yes.” Logan’s voice stuttered, pleasure that sounded like tears. He was trying to bring Finn closer with every part of him, drawing him in with his heels and the clutching of his hands and his core. He pushed his head back into the pillows and Finn kissed over the curve of his throat. He got a hand around the side of it, thumb just under his chin, so he could keep him like that while he added another bruise.
He thought of the party tonight as he rocked into Logan harder and watched the mark form as he worked Logan’s skin. Logan looked beautiful at parties. Low lights made his green eyes go dark. Anyone could see he was taken now. He’d need to pull Leo aside at some point, kiss him until he got that beautiful, open smile on his face like at the museum.
“Rouge,” Logan’s voice whispered. Two hands on the sides of his face. Logan had sweat beaded on his upper lip. Finn kissed him and slowed his hips. Logan reached down for his waist, coaxing him on. His thumbs were two lovely pressure points against each hip bone.
“Beautiful at parties,” Finn said softly.
Logan’s eyes edged on bewildered at that, but they were happy. They told Finn that Logan knew he’d been thinking about something, could even picture what he’d been thinking, at least a little. They’d always been that way. Logan nodded quickly, bottom lip between his teeth.
He began to fall over the edge at that look on Logan’s face. How had Finn ever convinced himself that Logan didn’t love him?
Logan opened up again at the feeling of Finn emptying inside him. Finn held his breath and closed a tight fist around the pillow beside Logan’s head. For a minute, they were just two heartbeats.
When he could breathe again, Finn peeked out from the warm crook of Logan’s neck. There was that small smile on his face, his eyes closed. He was making figure-eights around the notches of Finn’s spine. Finn shivered, sensitive now, and he eased himself from Logan’s body and tucked Logan into his side.
As he watched, Logan’s throat moved as he swallowed. Finn touched one of the love bites he’d left behind. Logan curled a gentle grip around his fingers, his palm against the back of Finn’s. He kissed the pads of his fingers and opened his eyes to look down at him.
“And what do I sound like now that you have actually had me?” Finn whispered, then winced one eye closed when his voice cracked.
“Sorry, what was that?” Logan laughed through the words.
“Shut up.” Finn ran a hand from Logan’s chest all the way down to the soft bend of his knee. “Oo-Ways.” Finn kissed his shoulder. “Want me to clean up?”
Logan thought for a moment, stretching beneath Finn’s hands. “Non. Shower soon.”
“Want me to bring you a chocolate croissant?”
Logan smiled. “Hm. Chocolate. What a turn on.”

Remus rolled the car windows down to let the smell of the lake and trees in, and smiled when he felt Sirius’ hand settle on his thigh as he drove them up towards the mountain trails.
“I still feel bad,” Sirius sighed. “Fuck.”
“Julian is not mad at you.” Remus said. “All we said was that we were going on a date—he can’t be mad that he couldn’t come.”
“But he was,” Sirius groaned.
“Disappointed maybe. He’ll live.”
“He’s going to hate me.”
“He literally could never hate you.”
“He’s going to start liking James more.”
Remus laughed. “Oh. So, that’s what you’re really worried about.”
Sirius just frowned at the sun-streaked road. Remus reached up to ruffle his hair. “Turn left here.”
He’d packed a simple picnic lunch and picked a straight-forward trail to a lookout that he’d hiked to a million times. The earth was spongy and soft beneath his feet as he settled the small lunch box, packed with icepacks, at the bottom of his bag. Making sure Sirius wasn’t looking, he opened it briefly to check all was right, then zipped up his pack.
Sirius started a few paces ahead of him, head forward as he climbed over roots and rocks like they were racing and he was determined to come in first place.
“Hi, I’ll just be back here,” Remus called out. “Your fiancé, trying to take you on a romantic hike.”
Sirius didn’t turn right away, so focused that it took him a moment to register that Remus had spoken. He stopped on top of a flat rock and looked back.
“Quoi? Did you say something?”
“I said I’m just your fiancé, back here, trying to take you on a romantic hike.”
“What?” Sirius laughed and stepped down. He retraced his steps back to Remus’ side. Even in the more mild mid-mornings, sweat already shone on his cheeks.
“Aren’t we trying to get to the top?”
Remus laughed. “Um. We’re going to get to the top.” He tugged at Sirius’ backpack strap. “Doesn’t mean we have to do it in under an hour.”
“Oh.” Sirius’ smile, aimed at the trees, was sheepish. “Right.”
Sirius stuck close to him after that, bending to feel a small stream running past them, or pausing to take Remus’ picture. Remus laughed himself hoarse when the rustle of a rabbit, darting between bushes, caused Sirius to jump half out of his skin. Sirius laughed himself when Remus stepped right into another small stream and walked the rest of the way disgruntled by a soaked sock.
They came to the summit sweating and out of breath, but as the trees opened up to reveal only sky and blue-purple mountains, they both stood quietly.
“Wow,” Sirius said. He turned in a slow circle, pushing his hair out of his eyes. “It’s like we’re the only two left.”
“If there’s anyone I would choose…” Remus began, and Sirius started to smile. “It would be Thomas.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “Ouais, sure. Thomas.”
They found a shade-spotted place beneath a tree and Sirius rolled out the blanket from his pack while Remus set out their lunch of turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce—Sirius’ smile was worth the slightly soggy bread.
“Hey,” Sirius said softly. He turned Remus’ gaze away from his bag with a hand on his chin, and kissed him. Remus had expected it to be quick, and the warm swipe of Sirius’ tongue, then the small scrape to his bottom lip, made him sway and catch himself with a hand on Sirius’ knee. Sirius smiled at him when he pulled back. “Feels like yesterday.”
Remus nodded. From the corner of his eye, he could see his ring. “Yeah, it really does.”
“This is perfect.”
“Wait,” Remus said, then produced from between cold-packs, a half-bottle of champagne.
“Loop,” Sirius laughed delightedly. “Really—C’est parfait.”
Remus began to untwine the wire. “I thought you’d like that.”
They let the sun creep towards their blanket. The champagne in the plastic cups caught the light, and Remus wiggled his nose at some bubbles as Sirius cut into a ripe pear and passed him slices as he went.
“So.” Sirius took a sip of champagne. “Do you think anyone would listen to me if I tried any pull that might get Tremz back?”
Remus leaned back on his elbows. “Hm. Well, it’s not like—I mean, you wouldn’t exactly have to convince anyone on our side. But the Rangers would have to be willing to deal. Money would be the problem.”
“I think about it when I’m trying to fall asleep sometimes. I’d take a pay cut,” Sirius said. “And I wouldn’t ask that of Leo so early in his career, but I bet Finn would, too.”
“And Kasey’s retiring,” Remus added. “That frees up quite a bit.”
“Ouais, this is what I’m saying.”
“But if the Rangers aren’t interested—”
Sirius sighed. “Yeah…Yeah.”
“Logan’s about to get them to a Cup, their first in a long time, if all goes to plan.”
Sirius didn’t say anything, just looked out towards the mountains. He set the core of the pear aside, wiping the leftover juices on a napkin.
Remus sat up again. He rested a hand on Sirius’ sun-warmed neck. “I’m sorry, baby. I know you miss him.”
Sirius nodded. “I do, but… More I just…If we ever got traded apart—”
“La la la.” Remus scrunched up his nose. “No, don’t. We’re drinking champagne, you can’t talk like that while we’re drinking champagne.”
It had been one thing this year, getting used to being on a team with all of his closest friends. It would be something entirely different to be in another locker room, filled with other players—some of which probably wouldn’t trust his experience.
“I was just going to say, if it were me, or you, I’d hope someone would help me. And it has happened. A player leaving and returning. It happens.” Sirius glanced at Remus, then down. “This is going to sound bad, but I am the face of the Lions. When I got here, we were in a horrible slump. I was part of pulling them out of that. Me, James, Dumo, Kasey… Then Finn. Then Logan.”
“That doesn’t sound bad,” Remus said. “That sounds true. That is true. I’d know, I watched it happen.”
Sirius nodded, then groaned and fell back against the blankets, his head pillowed on Remus’ pack. “I’ll try. I just won’t say anything to him in case nothing happens.”
Remus set his cup in the grass and rolled onto his side to be near him. He righted with the 1 and 2 pendants, which had switched to twenty-one.
“I love you,” Remus said. He leaned down to press his nose into Sirius’ cheek, enjoying the slight scratch of his stubble. “I don’t know how anyone calls those grey eyes of yours cold.”
Sirius just smiled, his eyes closing. Remus lowered his head to his chest and felt his arm wrap around his shoulders. The sun felt like it was soaking into his very bones. The champagne had made his head pleasantly buzzy, and Sirius’ heart beat slowly beneath his ear.
“I love you, too,” Sirius said.
He had hardly finished the words when Remus felt one rain drop, two, right on his cheek—and then downpour.
The sky was still blue, even as the sudden shower was came down with such force that for a moment they both merely lay there, staring at each other. Finally, Sirius cracked a smile, let out a surprised laugh, and began to sit up.
“Whoa. Oh my God, shit, the—the blankets.”
Remus’ laugh startled out of him. He shut his eyes and turned his head up to the sky. “Oh my God.”
Distantly, thunder rumbled beneath the rattle of the rain on the trees.
“Here, Re, go under that tree and I’ll—”
But Remus just pushed at Sirius’ chest, getting him to stay where he was. “No. I—no, wait.”
Sirius’ t-shirt was already thin and clinging at his shoulders, carving itself into his muscles. He blinked fast, laughing as the rain ran into his eyes. Up close, there was nothing steely about his expression. He was rainwater. Remus tucked two fingers around the chain of his necklace.
“It’s just rain,” Remus said.
Sirius spluttered a little. “This is—someone turned a tap on.”
But Remus just laughed harder and put his hands into Sirius’ soaked hair. It slipped, silky and dark, between his fingers.
“I want to kiss you,” Remus said. Raindrops ran into his mouth and matted his hair down against his forehead. “I want to kiss you when no one is about to come around the corner or knock on our door our shout up the stairs.”
At that, Sirius stopped trying to salvage their small camp. His hands found Remus’ waist and he lay back on the soaked ground at Remus’ slight pressure. Let their champagne mix with the rain in the plastic cups. Remus wanted to see if he could taste that combination, and he leaned forward and kissed Sirius for the summer storm that he was.

Luke liked Saint in his apartment. He liked the steam coming out of his bathroom and the sliver-glimpse he got of his lean body stepping out of the glass-encased shower. Luke looked back to his own reflection in the mirror. He’d ironed his shirt, the soft white linen mostly unwrinkled now. At least, he’d tried. He snapped a quick photo and sent it to Logan with two question marks.
The reply came after a few moments.
Nice!!
Finn was looking over my shoulder he’s better at this - brown belt instead?
On subway also - maybe slow reply
Where are you going?
Luke sent him the link to the restaurant.
But I’ve never been. Finn have favorites?
This reply did take longer. Maybe the subway, maybe Finn thinking. Then a link came through. He tapped on the address and it loaded in Maps, showing a small restaurant, not too far away. The tables were small. Candles. Romantic. A wave of nerves heated Luke’s neck and he glanced at himself in the mirror.
Thanks a lot
“You’re dressed.”
Luke looked up at Saint’s voice. His expression matched the faint hint of surprise it had held. He had a towel around his waist.
Luke set his phone down on the dresser. His heart really shouldn’t be pounding this hard. They’d done this before. These almost-dates. Quiet-never-quite-said-dates. Romantic, sort of, but could be mistaken for anything by the table beside them. Business. Friends catching up.
“Did you want me to lie around naked all evening?” Luke asked.
Saint arched a brow, but he didn’t reply and Luke smiled down at the brown belt he was weaving through his slacks.
“Why are you dressed like that?” Saint stepped in a slow arc around him, as if he needed every detail of Luke. Maybe there was something wrong with Luke’s heart. Maybe love didn’t make everyone feel this way. But it was nice. He wanted Saint to make him explode, actually, he really kind of did.
Logan was on the subway with Finn. They were probably standing or sitting pressed together. Maybe kissing once or twice. Luke had kissed Saint in an Uber, dark and out of view of the driver’s mirror.
“You’re going to be dressed like this, too, in a second,” Luke said.
“Why?”
Logan, talking about Leo coming back from his trip home. That night at that one bar, Logan had spent nearly the whole time pressed into Leo’s side just…content. Just at ease. So at ease.
Luke walked forward and took Saint’s face between his hands. Water dripped from Saint’s hair onto the cuffs of his shirt. Little dark droplets that would dry and fade. He kissed Saint once, then looked at his closed eyes and did it again.
“I’m taking you on a date,” Luke said.
Saint’s eyes opened. He had his mask up, the one he wore over his expressions on the ice. He looked Luke up and down, then moved out of his reach and went to the dresser. His eyes snagged on Luke’s phone, which he’d left open to Finn’s restaurant.
In the mirror, Luke caught a glimpse of a small, bitten back smile.

Finn steered them into a liquor store where they picked up small bottles of rum, gin, and tonic.
“I don’t know, it’s probably BYOB?” Finn said, though Logan hadn’t asked. He loved Finn and Leo in these stores, chatting up the sellers, asking advice. “The address is an apartment not a bar. We’ll stop at a corner shop and get you soda.”
Logan let Finn lead. He snapped a photo of Finn examining a wine label and Leo replied hot.
Finn made quick conversation with the man at the bodega, then found them a subway and grinned back at Logan as they walked down the stairs to the sound of a train rushing into the platform.
“You gonna hop it again if I dare you?” Finn asked as he took his phone out to pass them through to the platform.
“Shut up,” Logan replied without looking at him. Finn laughed at him but placed a kiss on the back of his neck.
The train to Brooklyn was crowded, but Finn spied one free seat and motioned Logan towards it.
“You sit,” Logan said. “You’re holding all the bags.”
Finn narrowed his eyes but complied. “I feel unchivalrous.”
“Un—what about a horse?”
“What?”
“Un cheval.”
“Ooh. Yeah, I have no idea.” Finn pulled Logan in until he was standing between his thighs. Logan held onto the rail above them and watched Finn’s eyes drop to the strip of skin it exposed as his shirt rode up. Finn steadied Logan with hands on the backs of his knees, the bottles clinking gently in the bag on his lap. He glanced at the two people beside them, eyeing the headphones over their ears and their noses in their phones, before playfully biting at the waistband of Logan’s shorts, laughing when Logan tangled his fingers in his hair and tugged his head back.
“Tu es un peu chahuteur.”
“Hm,” Finn said. “Eye level.”
Logan just shook his head. He was trying to decide if he was crazy for how Finn caused such a happy pressure in his chest, when he felt his phone buzz in his back pocket. When he checked it, Finn tilted Logan’s phone down to see, then leaned back in his seat.
Logan laughed. “You’re such a baby. Luke’s just asking me if he looks okay for a date.” He turned the phone around. “There, you can see. I think he does.”
Finn glanced at the picture, then turned away in a huffy sort of way.
“Rouge.”
Finn made a show of adjusting the bag of bottles in his lap. He didn’t look up when he said, “Tell him to put a brown belt on instead of black. It’s softer.”
Logan smiled, leaned down to kiss Finn’s head, and typed on his phone. He heard Finn mumble something that sounded a bit like yeah, whatever.
Another text appeared. “He wants to know your favorite restaurants. Little bit fancy.”
“My favorite?”
“You did grow up here, so.” Logan was having a little bit of fun with the pink heat spreading across Finn’s cheeks. His ears. He reached out and rubbed a thumb over the warm shell of his left one. “Where would you take Le and I? Little bit fancy. Summer night. Nothing too heavy, have to play tomorrow…”
Finn worried the inside of his cheek for a moment, eyes on one of the subway ads behind Logan’s head. Finally, he sighed and took Logan’s phone. He typed an address and restaurant name into the text and hit send.
“Merci,” Logan said. “He says thanks.”
Logan let go of the above-head railing completely as the train pulled into another stop, letting people off. The two beside them hardly looked up and didn’t budge. Logan leaned more heavily into the cradle of Finn’s thighs, stabilizing himself as the train jostled forward again. He cupped Finn’s chin gentle and made him look up.
“I love you,” Logan said.
“I’m not jealous of him. I love that you have him, I’d be a horrible person if I didn’t, not to mention a terrible boyfriend,” Finn said. “I’m just—I’m jealous that he gets to see you every day.”
Logan put his fingers back in Finn’s hair, gentler this time. Finn closed his eyes and leaned into his touch.
“I know, Rouge.”
A whole season, Logan thought, not for the first time. How am I supposed to go a whole season without this?
They stood at the address’s buzzer for a few unanswered moments before texting Leo who told them to go around the alley and enter a gateway through the back. It led them to a courtyard, lit up by warm, white lights strung overhead. It was a crowded space, loud with laughter and music. Logan moved around the sparse lawn furniture, which was set out in odd pairs like different pieces had been left behind by different people. Leo. He just needed to spot Leo. Finn was looking, too, eyes scanning the crowd.
Finally, Logan found him, hitting Finn to get him to look. Leo was standing with three people, all of whom were listening to him tell a story. He was wearing a shirt Logan didn’t recognize, a lovely light blue color, and it was unbuttoned enough for Logan to see the pendant of his fleur-de-lis necklace. His chest and collarbones looked warm in the lights strung above the courtyard.
“Jesus,” Finn said. “Look at him.”
Logan chose that moment to trip a little on a loose stone, and Finn caught him with a hand on his chest but laughed so loudly a few people looked at them. Logan bit back a smile and shoved Finn.
“Fuck off.”
Finn just slipped their hands together and began to pull him in Leo’s direction. Logan pulled back, though.
“Wait.”
Finn looked at him, then at Leo, then back. “What? Why?”
“I think we shouldn’t interrupt,” Logan said. “Let’s just…” Logan was enjoying how lit up Leo looked, how much he deserved to be the center of attention like that. “Get his attention, but give him a second.”
Finn wasn’t subtle about it. He waved his hand above his head until the motion caught Leo’s eye then made a heart with his hands and pointed to the table filled with drinks. Leo grinned and nodded. His circle looked, too, and Logan smiled and looked down with hot cheeks when he saw Leo’s mouth form the words, those are my boyfriends.
At the drinks table, Finn’s hands were already swiftly pouring what looked like a gin and tonics.
“Ew,” Logan said.
“They’re for Leo and I,” Finn laughed. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you. Or I would, if you gave me elbow room.”
Logan pushed closer to him. Finn didn’t complain, just settled a hand on the back of Logan’s neck and began pouring coke into a cup one-handed.
“Well, this is familiar. Drinks table, loud music. Mixing you a drink.” Finn reached for the rum. “You gonna watch me flirt with girls from across the room?”
“Ouais.”
Finn raised his eyebrows, looking up from where he was pouring. “Ways? What do you mean ways?”
“Then I’m going to come over and show them you are mine.” Logan took the cup Finn had now filled with ice. “I’d like to do it a few times, actually. Just because I can now. Go talk to someone and I’ll wait five minutes for them to fall in love with you, and then I’ll come over.”
Finn just picked up his and Leo’s drinks, shaking his head, but he was grinning hard. “You think it takes five minutes?”
“It took me two, I think.”
Finn clicked his tongue, but put a foot out to stop Logan from walking. “Come here, Ten, fuck.”
His kiss was soft, even quick, but Logan was surrounded by voices and lights, he could smell the rum in his drink, and it was almost as if he was eighteen and getting everything he’d ever wanted.
“It took me one,” Finn said, then laughed and walked away from Logan’s eye-roll.
When they turned, Leo was already watching them and grinning.
“You’re here.” Leo called when they weaved their way through the crowd. “I—oh, thank you, sweetheart.” He took the drink Finn held out and accepted a quick kiss. “Y’all, this is Finn and Logan. This is Amanda, Harper, and John—it’s Harper’s birthday, this is her place.”
Logan used the introduction time to move around to Leo’s other side. He was more interested in Leo’s lean back in that shirt than whose birthday it was.
“Happy birthday,” he said, offering a small smile to a girl with a pretty bob and brown eyes.
“Thank you,” Harper smiled. “Thanks for coming—wait, which one is which? Logan, Finn, Finn, Logan…”
Finn raised his hand. “Finn.” He pointed. “Logan.” Logan watched as Finn slipped right into his element. “Happy birthday. Wow, this is a great place—courtyard in the city is such a score.”
“Oh my god, right?” John said. Logan met his eyes and realized he had been watching Logan take in Leo. Logan smiled back, maybe a little awkwardly, then looked down at his drink.
“Seriously,” Harper said. “I’m not even sure how I got so lucky.”
“How’d you find it?” Finn asked.
Logan let every part of himself relax. This was a rhythm he loved. Finn, launching into a conversation so easily that he hardly had to say anything, hardly had to do anything except feel it when Leo put an arm around his shoulders and turned his head down for a kiss.
“Hi, Lo,” Leo said in his ear. He carded a quick hand through Logan’s hair. “Oh my God, I didn’t realize it was getting kind of long. I love it. How are you?”
“Good,” Logan said. “You look really good.”
That brought Leo’s smile to a new light. “Thanks, I bought this today. You like it?”
Logan nodded, reaching forward to touch one of the small, white buttons. They had a slight sheen to them.
“Thanks for coming,” Leo said. “I know you’ve got training tomorrow.”
“I missed you this morning, I wanted to be with you.”
Logan knew he should let Leo keep up with the conversation around them, even if he just wanted to ask how his day was, and what he did, and where he got the shirt so Logan could get him more of that blue color.
Leo squeezed his shoulder. “I’ll come to the gym with you tomorrow, I think.”
Logan smiled. “That’ll definitely make it go faster.”
“Wait,” said Harper suddenly, drawing their attention. “So, you’re like—actually…I don’t even know what to call it—like you’re in a playoffs right now.”
Logan blinked, but figured Finn must have said something.
“I was explaining we met through hockey,” Finn said. “And John said I looked familiar, so I was saying about Alex and such, maybe he’s seen his face around.”
“Oh.” Logan took a quick sip of his drink. “Ouai—Yeah. So, we’re about to start the final round. I fly to Colorado the day after tomorrow for the first game.”
“How many games are there?” the other girl—Amanda?—asked.
Logan felt himself smile a little, and noticed Leo and Finn doing the same.
Amanda flushed a bit. “Sorry, that’s probably a stupid question.”
“Non, non,” Logan said quickly, mixing with Leo and Finn’s protests. “Non, it’s—Really, it’s nice to talk to someone who isn’t as, ah…” He looked at Finn, trying to find what he would have said in this situation. What was the thing he said? “Ah, wrapped up as we are in all of it.”
He paused, but Finn stayed quiet and the others were looking at him. “Um. Well, there could be four games, if one of us wins straight in a row.”
“A sweep,” Leo chimed in.
“Or there could be seven, if we really go back and forth.”
“And they’re all in Colorado?”
“Non, we trade off. Colorado, New York.”
“Damn,” John said. “That’s a lot of travel.”
“Tell me about it,” Leo said.
“So…” Harper gestured her drink between the three of them. “You’re all on different teams? That must be hard.”
Leo’s hand tightened around Logan’s waist. He saw Finn glance away.
“Ah, non. We were all on the Lions—Gryffindor’s team?”
“Oh, I love Gryffindor,” Amanda said. “My best friend moved there this past summer.”
Logan flashed a brief smile. “Ouais.” He nodded to Leo and Finn. “They’re still there. I got traded to New York a little while ago.”
“Oh.” John frowned. “Wow. I’m—is it weird to say I’m sorry? That feels weird.”
“Oh, no,” Finn assured him. “Believe me, we’re all sorry.”
“Hey, there are fights in hockey, right?” Amanda asked more brightly. “Do any of you do that?”
Regulus’ laugh reached them before he stepped up on Logan’s other side. “Wow. You two have been here for four minutes and we’ve already got the place flooded with hockey talk.”
“Guilty,” Finn said.
“Wait, so are you, like, famous to some people? To fans? Like would people stop you in the street?”
Logan just raised his eyes at Regulus. They obviously didn’t know who his brother was.
“Yep, got a couple of celebrities in our presence.” Regulus raised his eyebrows right back. “Bow down, I guess.”
“Oh, stop,” Leo laughed. “Finn, honey, come here, I want you to meet someone you’ll like. Lo?”
“Ouais, just going to get some more ice.” It was so hot, even with the sun lowering in the sky, that his drink was little more than watery soda.
When he found the ice again, it was also watery mush. Logan pushed a hand through his hair, cursing softly when it got caught on a knot. Leo was right, it was getting a little long, curling just at the back of his neck.
“Salut.”
Regulus had followed him apparently. He stood on the other side of the table a bit awkwardly, hands in the pockets of his shorts. His t-shirt said I can’t, the Rangers are playing.
Logan laughed, pointing. “I didn’t notice that.”
Regulus smiled and replied in French. Thank God, Logan thought. He was already tired. “A little inside joke. Sirius was livid.”
“Ha, I bet he was.”
“Here. Fresh ice,” He pushed a cooler Logan’s way.
“Ah, great. Hey, thanks for inviting us. I know you probably don’t want all the hockey stuff around but—”
“Non, non,” Regulus said quickly. “I mean, yes. But that’s not—I don’t mind so much anymore. Obviously.” He gestured to his shirt. “Just needed a break, you know? A clean slate for a while.”
Logan nodded. “I get it.”
“Thanks for coming. You’ve got a lot going on right now.”
“Non, it’s a great break. And I’m trying to soak up as much time with the boys as possible, so.”
“You do have a whole summer for that.”
Logan smiled. “But it’s a short summer.” He used a fresh cup to scoop some ice into his drink. “Oh, before I forget.” He checked behind him, but Leo and Finn were across the courtyard. “I got us a cottage for the wedding. When you’re not with Sirius, you should come over and hang out.”
“Oh. That’s cool.”
“The boys don’t know. It’s a surprise.”
“How long are you guys staying up there?”
“Just a week. But we’ll be leaving Loops and Cap—or.” Logan rolled his eyes at himself.
Regulus laughed. “Habit.”
“Yes. One that my new team is not a fan of. But anyway, we’ll all be leaving them alone so, if you want, you should come stay? I know Leo will like that. Finn and I, too. It’s got, like, six bedrooms, so. And a dock. The family I got it from said we can use their boat—motor and sail.”
Regulus took a sip of his drink—Logan couldn’t tell what it was with the opaque red cup. “I’d really like that. If it’s all right.”
“It’s more than all right. I might invite my friend Luke and—and Saint.”
“Deveaux and Montague?”
“Ouais. You can bring someone, if you want.”
“Oh.” Logan swore Regulus’ eyes found someone in the crowd. “Ha, maybe.”
Logan looked over again to see Finn and Leo talking to two girls. He recognized their shared glances and the way they leaned in to catch every word Finn said. His entire chest got warm when he saw Leo switch his drink from one hand to the other and put his hand low on Finn’s back.
“You and my brother are still close.” Regulus said it like a statement, drawing Logan’s attention back to him. Then he added, “Right?”
Logan took a drink, tilting ice into his mouth. “Always.”
Regulus nodded. “Right.”
Logan looked at him, waiting for more, but Regulus didn’t offer anything right away. There was a plastic box of cookies on the table and Logan pointed to them.
“Just cookies? Nothing that’s going to make morning skate rough?”
Regulus smiled. “Yeah, just cookies.”
He took one, too, as if to prove it. “Do you think of him as a brother? Sirius. I know he thinks of you that way.”
Logan paused with the cookie halfway up to his mouth. He wasn’t sure if he was overthinking that question—especially coming from Regulus.
“I mean, obviously not like you. But, yeah, I think of him like that.” Logan took another sip, the rum sweet on his tongue. “Just with—Pascal and everything. And I could speak French with him. And we were with each other when, you know. The pictures. My trade. He’s one of my closest friends.”
Regulus nodded. He stopped nodding, and then nodded again. He snapped the cookie in half and chewed slowly.
“I’m glad he had that,” Regulus said finally. “I was just… All this wedding stuff. He’s got so many people.”
Logan nodded. “Ouais. Yeah, he does.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Logan could see Finn and Leo extracting themselves from the girls.
“He’d give us all up for you, though,” Logan said.
Regulus blinked, eyebrows going up. “I wouldn’t want him to do that.”
“I know.” Logan felt Leo’s hands on his waist, laughing at something Finn had said. He had about two more seconds, holding Regulus’ eyes, to make sure he knew. “But he would.”
Even once Finn and Leo started talking at the same time, Regulus’ gaze stayed on Logan, and he gave a pleased, conceding nod.

25 Days of Jegumas - @noblehouseofgay - Family Gathering - 443 Words
Regulus bit his lip as he looked in the mirror in the Potter’s foyer. He looked pretty, he knew that. In the green turtleneck Effie made for him, his black skinny jeans, and the light eyeliner ringing his eyes, he knew people would look.
He’d had dinner with the Potters a million times before. Sure, he was still awkward, but why was he so nervous about tonight?
Well, he’d never had dinner with them on Christmas Eve. That was a much bigger deal.
Regulus peeked into the living room. Sirius and Remus were snuggled in the corner of the sofa, barely an inch between their lips as they murmured to each other. Repulsive. It made Regulus too happy for his brother for his own good.
Peter was playing chess with Lily on the rug, both splayed across it, brows furrowed in frustration. Mary and Dorcas were braiding each other’s hair as Marlene kept her head in Dorcas’ lap, talking rather animatedly. Barty and Evan were rather disrespectfully intertwined on the couch, but they weren’t doing anything–for once. Pandora was whispering chess tips to Lily.
Regulus’ family. At least, the people that he considered family, minus Effie and Monty, who were busy in the kitchen.
And James.
Oh. James.
He whipped around to see his boyfriend grinning at him, hands shoved in his pockets. His arms shouldn’t look that good in his Gryffindor jumper.
“Lurking, Reggie?” James said, far too pleased with himself at sneaking up on Regulus. The boy scowled.
“Not… lurking, per se.” “Oh? And what would you call it?”
“I would… call it… uh…” James laughed, that beautiful sunshine-y laugh, and pulled Regulus closer by the waist, which he didn’t object to at all.
“It’s scary.” Regulus mumbled. “Why?” James chuckled again, lifting Regulus from the ground and wrapping Regulus’ legs around his waist. Regulus loved to be carried far too much. “These are all people you know.” “It’s different!” Regulus whined, though he knew he was in the wrong. James smiled and shook his head, sitting on the stairs and pulling Regulus into his lap. “It’s not. It’s just dinner.” “But Christmas is different…”
“Nope.” James squeezed his waist to make him squirm. “I don’t have fun memories and stuff to talk about when you guys do.” Regulus mumbled. Something that had been on the back of his mind for a while.
“Oh… Regulus that doesn’t matter. We’re your family now. You can make new memories.” Regulus looked thoroughly unconvinced, but that just made James laugh.
“I promise.” James held out a crooked pinky. Damn James and his stupid childhood gestures.
Regulus linked pinkies with him. “You better mean it.”

Family // Poly!Marauders x Fem!Reader
Summary: Sirius Black, the usually happy prankster within Hogwarts, had a special skill for hiding his emotions. Until one day, he's forced to face the realities of the troubles with his family.
Requested by: @bullets-from-another-dimension Thank you so much for the request and for showing me that Sirius needs a little more love! I hope you like this fic, and thanks for your support with the poly!marauders ♥
Tags: 18+ readers only, smut, angst (lots!), fluff (also lots!), emotional hurt, discussion of Sirius' abusive family, disowned, crying, hugs/kissing, polyamory relationship, nipple play, body worship, making out, oral sex (m receiving), happy ending
A/N: This is just a little PSA that I'll be going through my other Poly!Marauders fics sometime soon to change some bits to make sure that each of the boys is getting enough love! It won't be anything major for the overall story, just spreading the love equally as it appears Sirius may have been skipped a few times (and I don't want that!), so check for an 'edited' note on the story. Thank you for pointing this out to me!

The last 24 hours had been an emotional rollercoaster, with both positives and negatives coming to light. It had started with the ultimate showdown game of Quidditch between Slytherin and Gryffindor; with both Sirius and James on the team. You and Remus had been nervous wrecks just for the game, let alone all the tension drowning within the two enemy houses. This escalated outside of the pitch, with wands having to remain in hands between lessons to prepare for sabotage attacks from either team.
It was endlessly tiring the days leading up to the events, and it was some kind of a miracle to be standing in the Gryffindors' stands without a single injury. Now, however, you and Remus had to live through the fear of watching your boyfriends fly around with their roles as Seeker and Beater.
You were sure you’d accidentally bitten your nail down to the cuticle by the end of the match, and your throat felt as if you’d swallowed sandpaper with how sore it was with the screaming and shouting you’d been doing in support. There was instant relief as James finally caught the snitch, and everyone cheered.
“Do you think he’ll be ok?” you shout up to Remus, who, with his height difference, could see over the crowd to where the commotion was occurring on the pitch. As James had dived for the snitch, so had the Slytherin’s seeker, who just happened to be Sirius’ brother, Regulus. However, in mid-dive, Regulus accidentally knocked into one of the goalposts, hitting his head and falling from his broom. Thankfully to the Slytherins, Sirius had been close by and caught his falling brother from gaining any further injuries.
Remus was nodding to your question, “Yes, he’s walking away, well - he’s pushing Sirius away, so I’m sure he’s just fine”, he explained, watching Regulus shove Sirius, so the man stumbled away. A pang of guilt settled heavily in your stomach at the thought of the brothers arguing. You knew that the relationship between Sirius and his brother was non-existent these days, and it only made you feel more awful for your boyfriend, understanding how difficult it must have been to lose his family in the way he has.
You couldn’t ponder on these thoughts as the entirety of Gryffindor and the vast majority of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff began celebrating the win. This included Sirius, who scooped you into an exaggerated hug, spun you high into the air, and carefully placed your feet back onto the floor.
“Was your brother alright?” You shout to Sirius over the noisy crowd forming around the winning team. For a split second, you witness sadness filling his grey eyes before he snaps out of it and a beaming smile replacing the momentary lapse in his emotions.
“Oh, he’s fine; I’m sure a quick knock to the head will bring some sense to him. Anyway, come on, let’s all go back to the common room; I have a special surprise for everyone”. Sirius was great at many things, and covering his emotions was one of them. Any attempts to open up about the situation regarding his family would change the subject within the blink of an eye. You respected that he didn’t want to talk about any of his family members, but you still kept a close eye on him, making sure that he didn’t pent up his emotions until he was at breaking point, which you feared would occur one day as there was only so much one person could go through.
The interaction with Regulus seemed to have been forgotten in the madness of celebrating, which ran into the early morning hours in the Gryffindor common room. It would have continued later, but Professor McGonagall arrived in her dressing gown and demanded everyone go to bed. Sirius needed the most help to bed, having drunk the ‘surprise’ fire whiskey he regretted deeply in the morning.
“I’m never drinking again. Who’s idea was it anyway to bring Firewhiskey?!” came the deep groan of the man lying face first beside you, his face thoroughly buried into the pillow. Your temples were pounding slightly; you’d felt worse hangovers, but it was still uncomfortable as you rolled over towards Sirius.
Your arm wrapped over his naked back, face pressed over his shoulder blade as you could feel the toned muscles adjusting to your presence as you melted into his warmth. “It was your idea. I’m never falling for your charms ever again, Sirius”, you mumbled against his skin, reminiscing on his sweet talking skills from last night that convinced you to have a drinking competition with him.
This pulled him out of the half-unconscious state as his mop of hair turned in your direction. The movement caused you to roll off him and witness the beautiful sight of his morning glow; even in his hangover, he was handsome with one eye squished closed as the room was too bright.
Sirius turned his body entirely towards you, huffing as he moved, and you refrained from trying to reach out and control the usually silky locks of hair that were now all knotted and tangled on the top of his head. “Oh yeah? I’m pretty sure my charms made you cum three times before the fire whiskey joined the party,” he commented confidently and admired the warmth that filled your face. You attempted to hide your smile at the memories but were soon fully scream-laughing as Sirius tried to break your facade by tickling your sides.
Pushing him away, you turned and nuzzled into the naked chest of James, who remained asleep even through your loud laughter, but his arms still wrapped around your shoulders protectively. Besides James, you could see Remus was awake, sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. “Remusssss, Sirius is being mean to me”, you drawl childishly.
The man sighed, dropping his hands to give you and Sirius a pointed look, “Please, children, it’s too early, and my head is too painful for you to make this much noise”.
Sirius smirked as he spooned in close behind you, wrapping his arm around you and James as everyone tried to have a few more moments of beautiful sleep before breakfast, and class pulled the four of you from the safety of the bed.
The food helped to settle the hangovers that the majority of Gryffindor seemed to be nursing this morning, much to the displeasure of McGonagall, who was glaring at her house from the Professor’s table. Sitting beside James, you leaned across him for another slice of toast as Sirius sat opposite you with Remus next to him.
As everyone started to be rejuvenated with energy from the breakfast, the owls began to swoop in and deliver the mail for the day. An emerald-coloured envelope landed on Sirius's lap, which caught the attention of you and the fellow Marauders. You already had your suspicions about who the letter was from. Sirius mostly confirmed it, as he had hardly read the letter before shoving it into his bag and brushing off any attempts at discussing who it was from.
“It’s nothing, just some spam letter. So, who do we have first today? Is it transfiguration? I can’t imagine that will be fun with how angry McGonagall looks right now.” Sirius changed the subject, but it didn’t convince any of you as you eyed him sadly. He didn’t wait for a response as he stood, gripping his bag so tight that his knuckles turned white. “Come on, otherwise we’ll be late”.
You knew something was off just by the quipped tone of his voice, and the humour and light that always seemed to dance in his eyes had been significantly dimmed. Even as James tried to humour him with his usual party tricks and jokes, it only earned him a half-assed chuckle from Sirius. Remus even attempted to pull him aside before entering the classroom to see if he needed a moment alone to talk, but Sirius just distracted him with a quick kiss and said he was fine.
You were quick to sit next to Sirius near the back of the classroom, smiling brightly with the hopes that he would return it, but it seemed he was lost in his thoughts as he idly arranged his parchment paper and quills. Thankfully, as the class began, his hand rested on your thigh so you could link both fingers together, lifting it and kissing the back of his hand.
As McGonagall began to teach the class, you leaned closer to Sirius, savouring the warmth that radiated off him and smelling the citrusy scent from his aftershave. “Is everyone ok, Sirius?” Your voice was barely audible so as not to disrupt the class, but you knew he heard as his posture stiffened, and he nodded his head, fake smiling for a second before returning his attention to the teacher. “I know there’s something wrong. Talking might help; I mean - I want to help-”
“Excuse me at the back. Is there something more important than my lesson?” McGonagall demanded with a passive-aggressive raised eyebrow as all other eyes turned to look at you and Sirius.
As your mouth opened to take the blame, your boyfriend beat you to it, “Sorry, Professor. That was my fault I was distracting her”.
“You’re already on thin ice after last night's antics, Mr Black. See me after class to arrange a detention”.
Your mouth drops open to retort to her and tell him it wasn’t Sirius, but the hand holding yours squeezes, stopping you from saying anything. As McGonagall turns back to write on the chalkboard, you lean close to harshly whisper, “You didn’t have to do that, Sirius! That should have been my detention!”
“It’s only one detention, I don’t care”, he shrugs nonchalantly, releasing your hand to begin writing his notes. You frown so deeply that a line forms between your eyebrows as you glance towards Remus and James, who have similar expressions of worry, especially as Sirius hasn’t even attempted to have any sort of friendly banter with McGonagall like he usually did.
At lunch, Sirius had somehow managed to slip away from the group, and your head seemed to be fixated towards the entrance to the Great Hall, neck straining to see over the other students as you waited for him to walk in.
“I mean, it’s not just me, right? There’s definitely something wrong with him”, you say before nervously nibbling on your lower lip.
Remus’ hand cups your shoulder, gripping gently as he agrees, “It’s not just you. I tried to talk to him before the lesson, but he just pushed me away. He just wants to be by himself; I’m sure he’ll be just fine”.
You nod to yourself but don’t believe his words. Yes, Sirius was strong and had been putting on a strong appearance for years, but he never pushed himself away from the three of you. It was like an invisible angel on your shoulder, trying to nudge you towards him, knowing something wasn’t right.
“Have either of you got the Marauder's map?” you ask Remus and James, who then check their pockets and school bags but cannot find the map.
“Sorry, Love, he’s probably got it with him”, James reports, appearing as deflated as you felt.
Standing from the table, the anxious causing your stomach to clench with unease and unable to eat, you inform the two of them, “I’ll be back later; I just need to make sure he’s ok and safe”.
Remus and James nod in understanding and watch you go. As you stand in the entrance to the Great Hall, you’re unsure where to start and what's worse is that he could be in his Padfoot form, which means he’d be able to hear you coming and run away. There were the grounds to search, Hogsmeade, the entirety of the enormous castle; there were plenty of places for him to be.
Taking a deep breath to steady your nerves, you decided to search the dormitory first, hoping the map had been left in a draw up there.
Opening the door to the dormitory room that you shared with your boyfriends, you were welcomed to the sight of Sirius, lying face first on the shared bed, his head turned away from the doors but from the noticeable sniffling noises and his shoulders shaking, you knew he was crying. Your heart felt like someone had reached inside your chest and squeezed as the sight rocked you. Silently as you could, you slipped your shoes off and placed your school bag onto the floor.
You knew he was aware someone else was in the room as his cries softened, and he subtly tried to wipe his face into the pillow. As you began to crawl onto the bed, you could see he was spooning the pillow you usually used to sleep on, clutching it desperately close to his chest. You had to remember to breathe through your nose, remain strong, and not descend into your emotions.
Kneeling next to him, your hand gently met the centre of his back, rubbing slow, comforting circles into his white shirt, hoping the action would comfort him. “Sirius, what’s wrong?”
“What? Nothing's wrong” he tried to brush it off, but you could hear the thickness of his voice as he tried to hide his face further in the pillow beneath his head.
“Is it about the letter from earlier? Who sent it to you?” Even though you knew he didn’t really want to talk about it, you knew he’d also built a wall around his emotions and wanted him to feel like he was in a safe enough space to talk, like the many times he’d done the same for you. Reaching over with your other hand, you ran your fingers through the long strands of dark hair, brushing them out of his face that was still turned away from you. “Talk to me, my love, please. I want to help you”.
Reluctantly, Sirius turned over and began to pull you down to lie in the centre of the bed. You did so and spread your arms wide as he moved to lie on your chest, the top of his head resting beneath your chin as you hugged him closely.
“No one important sent me the letter, it’s fine. I just want to cuddle”, he admits with a sigh, relaxing into the hold, the pillow he’d been spooning now forgotten about as he had the real thing instead, finding comfort instantly. In this position, you could hold him close and do the same actions as before, stroking gently up and down his back whilst also playing with his hair.
You want to tell him that you knew who the letter was from, but he seemed content with being held instead for a couple of minutes until you felt dampness seeping across the column of your neck and down your chest as his shoulders began to shake once more.
“Sirius-?”
“It was from my parents. The letter, I mean. Fuck! I don’t know, it's so stupid.” he sits up abruptly, aggressively wiping away the leaked tears he’d been desperately trying to stop.
Sitting beside him, you rubbed his shoulders while trying to calm him down from his overwhelming emotions. “It’s not stupid, my love.” As you talk, you grip his twists to pull them away so he can look into your face and hopefully see the love there. “Your parents, they’re awful people, Sirius, and anyway, you’re perfectly within your right to show emotions every once in a while; I just need you to know that I’m here for you, we’re all here for you, no matter how you are feeling. It’ll be ok”.
Even though it was comforting for him to hear the words, it still seemed to break something within him. Like a crack had formed in the dam as he relented with his cries, openly sobbing into his hands. Whilst trying to swallow the lump that had developed in your throat, you pulled him close, kissing every part of him that you could reach whilst wiping away the cascading tears.
“You don’t have to tell me what was said in the letter, but I just need you to know that they’re not your real family; you know we’re all your family”. Sirius pulls back from the hug, and your bottom lip trembles at seeing how heartbroken he looks. The area around his eyes is swollen and red to match the shade at the tip of his nose as wetness covers the length of his cheeks.
His mouth opens to say something, but he’s interrupted by the door opening and James and Remus stepping into the bedroom. The two men pause, not expecting to find either you or Sirius here, but as they see the sadness and pain on Sirius’s face, they immediately drop their school bags.
“You missed it”, Sirius chuckled, trying to hide his upset behind humour, “She called me an emotional prick, and the waterworks started”. James and Remus gave him sad smiles, but neither fell for the attempt to change the subject as both sat either side of him on the bed. Remus reached for him first, stroking his scarred fingers through the strands of dark hair that had fallen over Sirius’ face, but only so he could kiss the area beneath. Sirius closed his eyes at the touch and leaned into it, releasing a deep sigh through his open mouth.
James grabbed each of his hands, lifting them to his lips to kiss the palms lovingly and rest them on either side of his cheeks, nuzzling into his hands. “Whatever is going on, you know we’re always here for you, Sirius”, James mutters against the palms on his face.
Sirius sighs even heavier as if trying to will the anxiety away through the breaths. “It’s my parents. I mean, should I even call them parents when they’ve already disowned me? But they’ve just sent me more threats today after what happened with Regulus yesterday. They say things like I should have let him win and wish that I had been hurt.”
He takes a moment to compose himself as you grab one of his hands from James, needing to link your fingers together and squeeze to know that it is a safe place for him to continue and talk. Sirius looked into his lap as he spoke, “They’ve burnt my face off the Black family tree. Not that I care; I expected it, but it just all feels so real now, you know? I feel like I shouldn’t even be using the surname Black with how much they detest me. I also kind of expected Regulus to have my back a little bit, but he’s young; I can’t expect that from him, especially as I know what my parents are like, but he doesn’t even say hi to me in the corridors anymore. I don’t know. I guess I’m just a little all over the place, and with the positivity yesterday, just to have my family metaphorically kick me to the curb again, I should have expected the joy wouldn’t last long”.
Sirius sounded empty and emotionless as he expressed how he was genuinely feeling, struggling to come to terms with the repercussions of the events that occurred with his family that continue to affect him.
“Fuck them”, James says with all the venom and confidence that he could muster. Sirius grunts half-heartedly at the declaration, not seemingly convinced, so James turns his face towards him so that he is looking into the stormy hazel eyes. “I’m being serious, fuck them. You’ve been my family for years now; you know my parents consider you their son as much as I am. Nothing has changed. You live with me and my parents because that is your home. Wherever any of us go is your home because we love you. We wouldn’t make you feel half as rotten as those scumbags, do you understand?”
Sirius nods, swallowing thickly, causing his Adam’s apple to bob. Before he can respond, Remus once again holds onto his face, turning him in the other direction to look at the calmest Marauder. “Sirius, next time you receive a letter from them, don’t open it. They are cruel humans who have no love for anyone but themselves and the prejudices that they live by. You had so much joy and love in your heart; don’t let them destroy you and ruin everything you cherish. And that is exactly what James has said. You’re our family. We’re each other's family. You’re ours, just like you’re mine. Get it?”
Sirius’ eyes have dried as he looks up at Remus, and briefly, a genuine smile welcomes across his face as he leans in to kiss him deeply but then pulls back.
Squeezing his hand, you draw his attention towards you. “You deserve the surname Black more than anyone because it’s what makes you, you—breaking the stereotypes of those evil people and making it mean something that doesn't symbolise hatred. However, if you want to have another surname, you can! Sirius, you’re your own person, and your surname doesn’t define you. You could even make up a whole new name! Maybe you could have one of our surnames”, Sirius laughs at the possibility of a name change. “I love you so much. Your family's opinions of you aren’t how anyone else in the castle sees you. You’re perfect the way you are, Mr Black”.
You couldn’t wait any more time to kiss him, needing to feel his lips against yours and reassure him further with these intimate touches. Thankfully, to your pounding heart, he smiles into the kiss.
“Maybe we could put all of our surnames together”, he jokes as you move to kiss each of his cheeks.
“If that’s what you want, I’d do it”, you reassure him with a kiss on his temple.
“Almost sounds like a proposal”, he casually mentions, causing your heartbeat to increase rapidly. Sirius smirks at your face but reassures, “Maybe we’ll sort out surnames once we’ve finished our exams”. You press your lips against his once more for reassurance until he looks between the three of you. “Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do if it weren’t for you three. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed before coming to Hogwarts, let alone feel love like this”.
Remus could see the tears pooling along Sirius’ lashline, so he gently cupped the side of his head, wiping away any that fell. “No more tears for them”. The gap between their lips was closed as Remus kissed him passionately, holding the back of his head carefully as they breathed each other in.
Sirius’ head dips slightly, but only to whisper against the man’s lips, “Can you make me forget? Please?”
“I’ll do whatever you want me to do, Sirius”. Remus kisses him again but with more urgency, pushing his body back until Sirius is lying in the centre of the bed with the taller Marauder hovering above him. Their mouths moved together as one, tongues twirling together, heads tilting one way and then the other.
As Remus distracts and devours him with his mouth, Sirius’ hands move around the back of his head, holding him close, which gives James the freedom to move his hands to Sirius’ shirt. With a simple flick of his fingers, James could undo the buttons down the centre of his chest, releasing the toned chest and abdomen of the man whose legs you were sitting between.
You watched with the sadness seeping away and becoming replaced with arousal as James leaned over and licked the nipples of the man who moaned into Remus’ mouth. James was calculated with his movements, making sure to leave teasing licks and bites over the areas that Sirius was most sensitive whilst then worshipping the perked nipples on his chest, his hands caressing the areas where fine dark hair was beginning to grow back from being previous shaved, mainly the snail trail leading beneath his trousers.
Smiling whilst watching them all move together, you were gifted the view of watching the tightness forming in his trousers as his cock grew hard and thick. Without any rush and admiring the desperate moans coming from the man on his back, you began to stroke up his thighs, over his crotch and pausing over his zipper.
Undoing it slowly, you waited to see if Sirius was even aware of what you were doing as he was so distracted with James and Remus. However, with the sudden lift of his hips to help you pull the material down his hips, you knew he was very much aware of your intentions.
Freeing his cock from the restraint of his trousers and boxers, you watched as Sirius lowered his hips back onto the bed, and his member now throbbed on his abdomen, thick and hard. A pearly drip of precum had already formed at the tip, and you were quick to hold the base, lifting the cock until your lips were wrapped around him.
Your movements continue to be gentle and soft. Licking and sucking without any rush to build the tension and hopefully show how much you worship the ground he walks on by paying particular attention to him when he needs it most. James continues to tweak his nipples, and Remus devours his mouth, absorbing every little moan until Sirius needs to pull back to suck in air.
“Fuck, you’re all- Fuck!” Remus distracts him with his mouth once more, dominating him entirely and causing more whimpers to burst from his chest. The veiny length that was being leisurely sucked in your mouth began to harden further, throbbing as you knew he was approaching closer to his orgasm as your hands fondled his balls.
“So good for us, aren’t you, Sirius? Say it, tell us you’re ours”, James demands, pulling on the back of Remus’ hair so that Sirius can tell the group how he is feeling.
“Yes! I’m yours, I’m all of yours! I’m cumming, holy shit!” he shouts out desperately, face scrunching up like he is in pain but is actually experiencing the opposite as overwhelming pleasure pooled in his abdomen.
You moan around his cock, causing it to vibrate slightly against your tongue as his hot seed begins to coat your throat. You swallow every salty, thick liquid drop until you’re popping off and looking up at his half-lidded, satisfied grin.
James and Remus give you room to crawl up his body to kiss him sweetly. The three of you watch and admire as he comes down from the high, carefully tucking his half-hard cock back into his trousers and doing up the zipper once more.
“Thank Merlin that we have no classes this afternoon”, Sirius jokes as he rests back on the pillows with his arm behind his head. You laugh and collapse onto his chest, hugging him closely as the four of you sit in comfortable silence. You listened to the thump of his heart beneath your ear, but after a while, it increased in speed as he became restless.
“Can I tell you all a secret? I’ve um… I’ve kept all of the threatening letters they’ve sent to me, " Sirius admits as he carefully pulls out of the hug to climb out of bed and dig his way through the suitcase with his name on the side. From within, he pulls out a large stack of letters that are all opened and in the same shade of emerald as the one earlier this morning.
“You kept them all? Oh, Sirius”, you say in shock, only guessing what horrible, hateful words are written on those pieces of paper.
Sirius awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, looking embarrassed, “Yeah. I don’t know why. Some weird part of me thought that if I burned them all, they would know and come to the school or something. But, I want to get rid of them if you’ll all help me?”
Neither of you have to answer as you climb out of the bed. After dressing appropriately, the four of you walked down to the lake, where Remus carved a hole into the soil. Sirius chucks the letters within as you all form a semi-circle.
Holding onto his left hand, Sirius raised his wand to the right, pointing it towards the letters and shouting ‘Incendio’. The four of you stand together as the letters burn. Sirius sighs shakily as he holds back tears. “It’s weird. I know people say it’s like a weight off your shoulders, but it genuinely does feel like that”.
“That’s because you’re free, Padfoot!” James shouts enthusiastically, grabbing the boy around the waist and lifting him into the air, hollering and whooping until Sirius laughs. The two crash to the ground as Remus throws his arm around your shoulders, watching the pair finally have some fun today as the smoke billows into the air surrounding you, the ash from those horrible words written on the paper disappearing across the Scottish mountains.

First Dance
Remus looked in the mirror as he washed his hands. He looked good, he reckoned, almost handsome even in his dark green suit. The colour brought out the hazel of his eyes and the reddish hue in his hair; Sirius had been right, obviously, he usually was. Remus smiled.
He was just drying his hands when he heard the bathroom door open and the smile on his face widened, he knew who it was, he could always tell.
'Hello my love,' he turned to Sirius and if Remus thought he looked good it was nothing compared to Sirius. His long hair was pulled back into a French braid, black lined his eyes and his suit, navy with a sparkle of silver, clung to his body in all the right ways.
'There you are!' Sirius tucked himself under Remus' chin. 'I got you another drink. Come have it?'
Remus dropped a kiss to the top of Sirius' head and linked their hands together. 'Yup. Let's go.'
They walked hand-in-hand back towards the large open space, the noise of people talking and laughing getting louder and louder. The Potter's barn had been transformed; twinkling strands of golden lights draped across the wooden beams, creating what looked like a magical canopy above them, jars and jars filled with fairy lights lined the edge of long wooden tables which were themselves adorned with wildflower arrangements and flickering candles and at the southern end a large stage, where Remus could see the band setting up.
'Can we just-' Remus tugged at Sirius' hand and he stopped, looking at his with a questioning look.
'I just want to watch,' Remus explained, 'Just for a moment,' and Sirius smiled, letting go of Remus' hand and wrapped an arm around his waist instead, leaning into him.
They watched for a minute. At the people milling around, friends catching up, at people laughing and hugging. The lead singer of the band, a mate of Sirius' from work, caught them watching and gave them a thumbs up which they both returned with a wave.
'Hey, look,' Remus said, nodding towards the Top Table. 'Could they look more in love?'
Sirius looked at James and Regulus, Regulus perched on James' knee, pushing his hands through his hair, James hands on Regulus' waist. They matched in their black suits, creamy pink roses in their buttonholes. 'Yeh, they really do,' Sirius agreed as a voice echoed over the speaker making both Regulus and James jump and look up.
'And now, cherished guests, we would ask you to gather round the dance floor for our grooms' first dance.'
A cheer went up around the room and people started making their way over.
'Better go, hm?' Sirius, entwining his hand with Remus' once more.
'I love you,' Remus said quickly, stealing a kiss. 'So much.'
Sirius smiled. 'I love you too. Come on.'
They made their way over to the dance floor, squeezing through stand by Regulus and James.
'Phew, you're here,' James said, his hand in Regulus' back pocket.
'Of course we're here,' Sirius retorted, 'It's not like we could miss-'
He was interrupted by the MC. 'And now, for their first dance as husbands, it is my greatest pleasure to welcome to the floor Mr and Mr Lupin-Black!'

_______
You stood close to Regulus as Remus led the way up the stairs and into a bedroom. While you were relieved that Sirius and Remus were more than kind to the two of you...you couldn't help but still be uneasy. Maybe in time, your nervous nature would ease...but that wasn't going to be today or tomorrow. Regulus squeezed your hand. Without saying it, he knew that you were worried.
“The two of you can do whatever you like with the room since you live here now.”
Remus commented in a soft voice. You gave him a polite thank you as he turned to leave the room. Remus stopped in the doorway and turned. He wanted to say something inspirational but the shock of the evening took his logical thoughts away. Looking at the two of you, Remus felt sad. Neither Regulus nor yourself looked ready to start a marriage. The two of you looked like children who were thrown into something that neither was entirely ready for.
“Can either of you cook?
Remus finally asked. Regulus gave him a confused frown before shaking his head. You nodded.
“I can. Why?”
You asked. Remus shrugged.
“Because Sirius and I are pathetic and always tend to catch things on fire. It will be nice to have something edible from time to time. “
“I can help with that. The two of you won't be going hungry now."
You replied. Remus smiled and walked out of the room. There would be time for more questions later. For now, it appeared the two of you needed some form of actual rest. Sleeping with one’s eyes open could only happen for so long.
Once the door closed, you turned back to Regulus who was silently laughing to himself.
“What?”
You questioned as Regulus moved to sit down on the bed.
“Oh, nothing…simply the image of those two attempting to cook something is hilarious. I can see Sirius running about holding a flaming potato in a pot asking Remus what to do with it.”
You chuckled too as you moved to sit down beside Regulus. This had been the first real moment of peace the two of you had in some time.
Regulus’ smile faded as his typical serious expression returned.
“Do you regret it? Marrying me and ending up here like this…”
You reached over and wrapped your hand around his before settling yourself on his lap.
“Not in the slightest. Regulus, like it or not, we would have had to do this at some point regardless. If we were going to be together, we never would have been able to have a proper engagement and wedding. Your parents would have never allowed it and neither would have my father. We can always have a wedding later with the people that we care about and if we don’t…that is okay too. We don’t have to have some kind of spectacle of a thing to be happy.”
Regulus gave you a small smile. His grey eyes were focused on your face looking for any sign of unhappiness. Regulus was relieved when he didn’t see any. It would have been just another slap if he knew that you were “potentially” unhappy over him.
“Yeah, we aren’t really a making something of a spectacle kind of people. You are right. We would have had to do things this way. It wouldn’t matter if we are 16 or 26. My parents will never change nor will your father. It will never matter how good I am to you…it will never be good enough for him. To your father, I will always be some snobby boy with a bad attitude.”
“And I’ll always be some half-blood devil.”
You added. Regulus moved to lay you back on the bed. Taking his place on top of you, Regulus held your hands over the top of your head. Snuggling his face into your neck, he took a deep breath. The sweet scent of your rose perfume had always been so comforting.
“I suppose there are worse things to be.”
You were quiet for a few moments before the thought of Regulus’ admission of being a potential death eater returned.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
You finally asked. Regulus sat up on his knees giving you a careful look. He knew exactly what you were talking about. Regulus had been expecting this rather uncomfortable conversation for some time.
From the start of the war, you were worried about Walburga trying to get Regulus involved with Voldemort in some fashion. Regulus had always tried to keep your mind at ease but deep down you knew…and Regulus knew it. He wanted to protect you as long as he could...even if it was from himself. Unfortunately, that ended today.
While this wasn’t the conversation that Regulus wanted to have on his wedding night. There was no getting around it. Running hand through his hair, Regulus sighed.
“Because I didn’t want you to worry more than you already were. You knew and I suppose, in my own way, I was trying to protect you.”
You sat up and looked around the room before speaking.
“I understand that but you still should have told me. We could have gotten the fuck out of there a long time ago. What are we going to do when they come after us? You know that will be coming.”
Regulus frowned.
“Let them come. It will be a cold day in hell before I ever go back to that place.”
(the next morning)
Remus was making a cup of tea when Sirius stepped into the room
“I suppose the happy couple are still sleeping?”
Sirius asked before sitting down. Remus passed him a cup of tea before giving him a cold glare.
“Yes and from the looks of them proper rest is probably something that they need.”
Sirius nodded.
“Yeah…probably so. I have to say I am impressed with my brother. I always had this feeling that he would turn out like dad. That boy just burned all of the pages from that book. I also want to thank Y/n. She has been the one that made Regulus grow up.”
Remus swirled the spoon in his tea before humming in agreement. Sirius was right about that one. If someone had told Remus days before this would be happening, he would have laughed in their face. While Remus had always hoped that Regulus was “good deep down” he hadn’t seen much to prove it. Now…everything was different.
Remus could see how Regulus watched you. He knew that look in his eyes. That was the look that Sirius gave him. It was that look that, while expressing feelings vocally could be hard, said everything Remus needed to hear. Regulus loved you.
“What do we do when your parents turn up looking for him? You know this isn’t over.”
Remus questioned. A dark look formed on Sirius’ face. He was quiet for a moment before the doorbell rang.
“We kill them and bury them in the back garden. That's probably James and Lily.”
Remus chuckled before taking a sip of his tea. Killing Walburga and Orion and then burying them in the back garden was something everyone could probably agree too.
A few seconds later, Sirius returned with James and Lily. While the times were dark, James never seemed to lose his smile. Plopping down, he looked between Sirius and Remus. Right away, James knew something was going on. He only hoped they hadn’t lost another member of the order. There had been too many deaths and disappearances lately,
“So, what is going on?”
Sirius sat down before smirking.
“How do you feel about killing someone and burying them in the back garden?”
James’ smile faded and was replaced with a confused expression.
“I don’t think we could bury Voldemort in the back garden.”
Lily gave James an annoyed scowl while Remus shook his head. Sirius sighed.
“I’m not talking about him. I mean my parents. Do you think we could put them under enough dirt and crap where they won’t be missed?”
James scratched his head.
“I, mean, sure…we could. Are you having a hard time with them again or something?”
Sirius shook his head before nodding.
“Not at the moment but it will be coming along…let me explain why. We have two new order members.”
Lily frowned, trying to figure out where this conversation was going.
“What do two new order members and your parents have in common?”
She asked, trying to make sense. Sirius smirked.
“Its Regulus and Y/n.”
The room went silent while James and Lily stared at each other before turning back to Sirius. They were clearly thinking that Sirius was messing with them.
“Regulus and Y/n?”
Lily questioned again. Remus nodded.
“Yes. Regulus and Y/n are on our side now.”
James turned back to Sirius.
“Did hell freeze over and we weren’t made aware?”
Sirius shook his head.
“They turned up here late last night. Mum knocked the cream cheese out of Regulus again. He has finally had enough of their crap. I am thankful that he finally woke up before getting sucked into that mess. There is more. The death eaters have been trying to recruit him. Thankfully, he was smart enough to say no…but they could have.”
James ran a hand over his face while Lily gasped. Both James and Lily had talked about Regulus being the perfect target for the death eaters. Now, once again, they were right about something.
“Bloody hell. I’m glad he said no and came here. It looks like there is hope for him after all.”
James said in a stunned voice. Sirius nodded and stood up.
“There is more.”
Lily had sat down beside James and was still trying to take in the information that she was just given.
“What more is there?”
She asked. Sirius glanced over his shoulder. He didn’t want either Regulus nor yourself to walk in while being the topic of discussion.
“Regulus and Y/n got married.”
James and Lily looked even more stunned. Lily’s mouth dropped while James did math in his head.
“But they are 16?”
Remus nodded.
“They are.”
Sirius had gone back to his tea for a moment before speaking.
“They lied on the application. I understand why they did it. They felt like they had no choice. My parents will never accept them and apparently, Y/n’s father isn’t too fond of Regulus. I couldn’t turn them away. They need someone who is in their corner. Regardless of what happened with my family, Regulus had nothing to do with it.”
James frowned.
“He never spoke to you after you left. That is saying a lot if you ask me.”
Sirius frowned. While he and James didn’t argue often, Regulus would be the topic that Sirius would “flip a table” over.
“He did what he had to, James. He had to keep himself safe living in that house. I’m not asking you to become his best friend but I am asking you to give the two of them a chance.”
James was quiet a moment before nodding. He didn’t have a problem with you. You had always been nothing but kind to James. There had been many times that James wanted to ask what exactly you saw in Regulus but he never did.
“Fine. That doesn’t mean that I am not going to be keep an eye on them.”
James replied. Sirius sat back in his chair.
“I would expect nothing less of you.”

august 7: stimulate | @jegulus-microfic | word count: 332
prompts are from the august 2023 collection from the lovely jegulus microfic mod
Regulus and James had been going out for a week, but they still pulled each other into broom closets between every other class.
Regulus wasn’t complaining though. He quite enjoyed it even though his attendance record was taking a but of a hit. They tended to get carried away together.
So when James grabbed his wrist and pulled him into an empty classroom, Regulus followed eagerly with a smirk blooming on his lips.
As soon as James closed the door, Regulus spun them around and pressed James into it. He linked his hands behind James’ neck and snogged him. Regulus heard James make a tiny noise in the back of his throat when he pulled away.
“I need some more stimulation before I go to Charms,” James whined, cupping Regulus’ cheek.
Regulus moved his hands to rest gently on James’ hips. “And I need to not be late to Potions again,” Regulus barely got his last word out before James leaned in to snog him relentlessly.
All thoughts about school quickly faded from both of their minds as they continued.
Just as James had picked up Regulus and placed him on a desk, a loud gong sounded through the room.
The late bell.
Shitfuckshit.
Regulus pulled back and swatted James over the head. He glared at him but his anger melted when James gave him a sheepish grin and mumbled an apology.
James helped Regulus off the desk as Regulus grumbled to him about how Professor Slughorn would have his head for being late again.
Everything he had said, though, seemed to have gone straight through James because when he was about to step out, James pulled him in again for a quick peck on the cheek.
“See ya later, Reggie!” James waved goodbye before proceeding to skip to his next class.
Regulus shook his head affectionately as he took the stairs down to the dungeon.
He didn’t care about his attendance record if it meant he’d have more time with James.

The silence in the empty corridors was deafening as you stared blankly at Barty, “well not with us–” he pointed at Pandora and himself “–Them”. Regulus looked like he wanted to set himself on fire and Evan– well Evan was just sleeping with his eyes opened.
“Since she landed on Slytherin, it's only fair they give her a tour” chimed in Pandora, nudging her brother to snap out of it “Yeah, sure come with us”
“Absolutely not. We’ll give her the tour you guys clearly didn't start on the right foot” Sirius said rather angry, shooting daggers at Regulus, who could only smile at his brother’s dismay. “I don't want a tour from neither, the bloody headless-”
“Nearly” Dorcas interrupted. “The nearly headless ghost gave me one. I’ll be fine.” Your voice was stern but you didn't care, your bed called, and you'd do anything to answer it. “Believe me you’ll need one, this place is endless” said Remus with a sigh. “I'll find the dorm by myself, goodnight to you all” with that you went storming off to the nearest staircase.
“She does know the Slytherin dorms are in the dungeons right?” Pandora asked, worried. Barty only cackled and the others huffed, James tried to go after you but Sirius spoke, “The paintings will help her soon, we’ll be late for practice Prongs”, a hand on his shoulder. “You’re right, night’” he waved at his friends and they both left for the practice court.
“You coming Dorcas?” asked Remus, eyeing her friends with worry. "Nah, I'll take a while so tell Marls’ to not wait for me yea?” Remus could only stifle a laugh “Will do, take care”
“Yeah yeah, get going you bloke!” shouted Barty earning him a blow to the back of his head.
After almost an eternity and the help of countless talking portraits you found yourself in front of a tall painting adorned by an enormous snake on its mantle. You knocked on the painting yet nothing happened. Suddenly a resounding voice spoke “Who dares to interrupt my sssleep”. Unbothered and tired you looked up and saw that the snake had moved “Ah the new sstudent, i've heard things around these wallsss, things that would make SSalazar proud”
“So I've heard, now can I get in?” You asked, and the snake only slithered around its frame “Only if you ansswer this very simple question” your eyes rolled “Shoot”
“From your translations of those fascinating texts, what does evil in itself translates to?” it asked, tongue stretching out the ‘s’ in every sentence. You thought for a small second before it clicked “Malum in se” as soon as it was said, the portrait opened and inside was the infamous Slytherin common room in all its glory.
As you stepped inside the common room you heard the voice of the snake speak. “Remember it my dear, I only help once, no matter how much my masster would have favored you”. And with that, The door closed.
The walls were a shade of emerald green, black curtains draped around multiple portraits and ivy covered walls. It was dark meaning most students were sleeping soundly in their beds, as you went up the stairs a door opened showing you your new bedding arrangements. Being so enthralled by everything you failed to notice another door creak open as a careful Regulus scurried away and out of the common room.
You sat on your new bed, all your belongings organized neatly. fingers traced the scabbing scar on your hand, each curve and ragged strokes engraved onto it. The palm that once held books about mythical creatures and spells, never expecting to use said knowledge, never having what was needed to cast such protecting spells. Now with a permanent reminder of how deadly magic can truly be.
You turn to the window at the side of said bed, the clouds cover the moon causing its light to dim, making everything much darker. Who knew life had all of this planned out for you, if only its course of action didn't involve killing the only person who made you feel safe.
Suddenly the bed was too stiff, the air in the room suffocating, and the silence too loud. Without making too much noise you exit the room and make your way down the stairs to the common room. The fire was lit and some books laid splayed on the floor indicating someone was here not long after you had gone up to your room.
No mind, you sat on the couch and stared at the burning embers until your eyes watered, was it because your eyes craved moisture or something else, you didn't know but tears escaped your eyes. No sobs, no sniffles, just tears.
"Everyone gets homesick their first couple of days y'know" a voice said from the corner of the room. leaning against the wall, figure hidden by the night, you glared at the shadow "who said you could talk to me" you scoffed. "Guess the hat made a good decision, even so you should sleep– Schools harder when you get here late"
You stand and give the dark clad figure a look, seeing if you could distinguish it before going up the stairs and into the comfort of your bed.
‘Maybe Dalia will lend me some muggle magic’
The shadow leaves its cover and sits on the couch, leg's spread as he leans his head back, the fire enhancing his tanned skin under its light. His head snaps back in place when he hears the door open, and immediately sees a toothy grin from a certain someone .
"Made you wait too long, Rosie?" Barty whispered with a mocking tone, approaching the couch his friend sat on, standing in between the blonde's spread legs. "Maybe" he smirked. Barty scoffs and sits next to him, and lays his head on the other's lap "Evan?" spoke the Ravenclaw, "yeah?"
"Do you think one day I'll stop having to sneak around just to see you?" he said looking into the fire, spaced. Evan sighed "I rather have you sneak around, than your father finding out and frying the rest of your brain with unforgivables" Barty shifted in his place to look at Evan's face "we should kill that bastard, don't ya think?" he smirked. Evan looked lovingly into his eyes before giving him a sweet peck to his forehead.
"First thing after we graduate we'll bleed him to death" he smiled.
"I'll hold you to that" Barty said before closing his eyes to drift off to sleep. "I know you will Bee" and so he closed his eyes, letting sleep engulf him.
Inside the Ravenclaw common room, not far away from the snake's, Pandora and Regulus sat on a small opening underneath the stairs leading up to the girls' dorms. "Reggie dear, I'm sure if you just talk to him maybe an agreement could be settled?" she spoke looking at her finished cup of tea, trying to decipher her divination project. "That's out of the question, Panda, I can't be seen talking to that..traitor." She looked up, "you can't even bear to say it, you sound more like Kreacher as the days pass" she giggled and went back to her cup.
Regulus just looked down at his own cup, the streak of dark liquid that was left on the cup engulfed the bottom of the cup completely, he looked at it puzzled, before the liquid parted to make the silhouette of a hand, seemingly reaching out to the surface, out of the vile waters.
"Panda what the fuck does this even bloody mean" he asked exasperated.
"Lemme see that" she replied, grabbing the cup from his hands. As soon as her eyes were set on the inside of the cup, her head snapped back violently, eyes going blank, mouth slightly agape.
Regulus wasn't usually faced, after all they have all seen her have visions before, becoming more recurrent as the years passed. But this was different, she was quivering, muttering soft pleas, and her white eyes releasing crystalline tears. Regulus knew better than to snap her out of a vision, it could turn ugly quickly but he was worried. As he grabbed her shoulders her head returned to its normal position and eyes rolled back into place.
"Pandora, what was it this time?!" he whispered, not wanting to wake anyone up. She bore her eyes into his, tears beginning to dry on her cheeks, courtesy of the cold breeze. "I-Im not sure, but it hurt, it hurt a lot"
"I'm sorry...I must have summoned it wrong" he spoke, soothing her with a palm to the back. "Don't worry about me Reg, seen worse" she smiled, yet it didn't really reach her eyes.
"I'll bring Barty back alright?" He said, still worried.
"I'll go to bed, my head is pounding"
Regulus nodded and left to retrieve the Ravenclaw.
He stood in front of the painting uttering out the Slytherin password, walking through the doorway he saw Barty sleeping on the couch, head on Evan's lap while the latter carded his fingers through his head, barely conscious.
Regulus came closer and tapped Barty, making him whine
“Let's go sleeping beauty, it's almost four in the morning, we are going to get caught” he said, causing Barty to grumble annoyed. Evan sighed, “Up you go wanker, c'mon” he ushered him, standing up to force him off of him.
“Alright alright I'm gone. Sleeping beauty? Who the fuck even is that?”
You were woken up by the sound of murmurs and whispers near your bed, once your eyes were opened you were greeted by three girls staring right at you, no shame whatsoever. “Zoo exhibition is over” a voice spoke from the door causing all your spectators to scatter. Standing up from the bed you walked past a bored looking Evan to reach the bathroom, “‘Thank You’ would be nice!” he said loud enough so you could hear him. Before closing the door you just glared at him “Thank you,”
“Quite the talker this one” he groaned as he left the girls dorm before someone called him a perv.
You looked at your reflection in the small mirror of the bathroom, “Gods help me” you could only groan.
The grandfather clock at the corner of the common room striked six which meant you only had around 30 minutes to get lost around the school again to try and find the Great Hall and hope to be in time to atleast have an apple.
You decided to follow behind some other students without them noticing, who’s up this early with the want to chat?
As soon as you reach the enormous doors of the Great Hall you sigh out in relief. Your smile reaches your eyes as soon as you see Lily wave at you, followed by Marlene almost bolting out of her place at the table to go get you. “Morning pretty! How did you sleep with the snakes?” she says as she links an arm around you. “Slept like a baby i gotta say” she let out a snort “Still think that hat doesn’t know what it’s doing, red is definitely your color, not this” she says grabbing your green scarf with a look of disgust causing you to laugh.
Unbeknownst to you Regulus and Evan were already glaring holes into the Gryffindor table, “oh please! What's the problem? We hang out with you guys all the time and no one really says anything” Barty insisted while spinning the spoon inside his tea cup. “That’s because no one likes you in your houses” they both say in unison. “No offense Panda” said Regulus while Evan ruffled his sister's hair violently. “None taken- stop that!” Barty batted his eyes at Evan in hopes of an apology, he looked back at him unamused “Oh I meant all the offense on yours, eat up” He said with a smirk, shoving his toast on the Ravenclaw’s plate
“You know how bad this makes us look?-- What if they take off points” Regulus added and Pandora only threw a grape at him “If only you three weren't such pricks to her she would actually like us better”
“She's no saint either Panda” Evan replied before Barty continued “Anyway i took a small itsy bitsy peak of her schedule and she has two classes with us helpless 4th years” he said dramatically throwing his hands in the air. “She’s not getting rid of us that easily” Regulus smirked, looking back at the way you were chatting away with Sirius and James.
“This is why everyone is afraid to talk to you blokes” Pandora sighed, putting butter on her toast.

smart - October 6th - Jegulus - @stag-microfic - word count: 665 - trans!Regulus Inspired by a reddit post that I heard about on a podcast so I don't have the original source to link it lol
"It's going well, I think," Effie whispered to Monty, who nodded at his wife, grinning.
"I like him. I have to admit, he's not what I thought he would be, though," Monty murmured, looking across the room.
It was true. James was so larger-than life and attention-grabbing; so loud and, Effie had to admit, dramatic. But Regulus, James's boyfriend who he'd finally agreed to introduce them to, was quieter. It had struck them as strange that it had taken so long, since Regulus was Sirius's little brother, and Sirius had practically been their adoptive son for years. But they didn't know a lot about Regulus. Just that he had taken longer to cut ties with Sirius's problematic family, and that their son was absolutely crazy about him.
He also seemed nervous and a bit skittish, though when he did speak, he came off as extremely smart. Though both men looked at each other with stars in their eyes, it was certainly a different match than what James's parents had been expecting.
When they interacted together, it made all the sense in the world, though. At least in Effie's opinion. They were natural opposites in the best way, and Regulus seemed to bring out the best in James. He'd never seemed happier.
"I'm going to do the dishes," she announced, standing and exiting the room, waving all of the boys off as they got up to try to help.
But as she began to get to work, the short, curly-haired man who had been glued close to James's side all night entered the kitchen, balancing a stack of plates.
"Oh, let me get those, dear!" Effie jumped over to grab the stack from Regulus's hand, eager to help.
"Thanks, Mrs. Potter," Regulus smiled softly. "The meal was wonderful. Was that thyme I tasted?"
"Oh, thank you, dear. It was! Do you cook?" she asked as they began to fall into a rhythm of washing and drying together.
"A bit. I learned a lot of family recipes as a child, and it was one of the few things my parents insisted on teaching me that I actually enjoyed," Regulus shrugged, meticulously drying a plate.
"Interesting," Effie frowned, speaking over the running water. "Did they make Sirius learn, too?" Sirius had become a permanent fixture in their household long ago, but had never mentioned learning how to cook.
Regulus just snorted softly. "No, they only made the girls learn."
It took a moment for Regulus's admission to sink in, and the dish Effie was now washing in the sink slipped from her hands as she realized. "Oh!" she said softly, her brain catching up with the conversation.
Regulus's eyes grew wide as he, too, figured out what had happened. "James and Sirius never told...?" His face, which had previously had a small smile playing on his guarded features, grew nervous and almost cold.
But Effie wasn't having that. "Regulus," she said firmly, grabbing his arm with her wet hand and refusing to allow him to turn and walk away. "It doesn't matter to us," she stated, looking the terrified man in the eye, making sure he understood she'd never been more sincere.
The gray eyes that stared back at him grew wide and watery, and he blinked a few times before nodding and letting out a shaky breath. "I- okay," he mumbled. "Sorry, I- It's just, my parents were-"
"I understand," Effie murmured, movign her hand up to squeeze his shoulder.
Nodding again, Regulus visibly relaxed, turning back to the dish he had been drying.
"It won't matter to Monty, either," Effie clarified, squeezing his shoulder again and returning to the sink. "As long as you and James love each other and you support his Quidditch team, he'll approve."
Chuckling, Regulus smiled. But after a moment, he turned to Effie, frowning. "What Quidditch team? Because James likes the Chudley Cannons and I can't even pretend to like-"
"No, he likes Puddlemere," Effie laughed, pulling him into a hug.

Prompt 1 - Twisted
@rosekillermicrofic September 1, word count 485
This is my first ever rosekiller microfic so I hope you enjoy it. I'm only going to do this for a month because three microfics a day is insane. Anyway this is the final part of the Apple Core series. I've linked the previous ones below. Enjoy!
Previous Wolfstar part First Jegulus part
Barty was bored.
“I’m bored!” He groaned into the room. He flipped himself over and grinned lewdly at Regulus, who had stopped by on his way home, want to have a go at that threesome we keep talking about?” He waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
"That you've been talking about excessively, you mean?" Regulus said as he threw a cushion at Barty's head. Barty didn’t react quickly enough and got a mouth full of fluff.
“Leave him be, B,” Evan chastised, coming back in with some vibrant green concoction in tall glasses. “Besides, he’s got his fancy new boyfriend to see to his needs,” Evan cackled as he twisted out of the way of Regulus’s second cushion throw of the evening.
“He is not my boyfriend,” Regulus glowered at Evan. “We’re just hanging out.”
“Yeah, every day this week since you fell out of that tree into his waiting arms.” Barty sneered, batting his eyelashes. “You’re like a damn fairy story with your apples and Prince Charming. Ha, you’re Snow White!” Barty howled with laughter.
“Na, he’s too pointy for a fair maiden, he’s more like the Evil Queen!” Evan snickered, which made Barty’s howls even louder.
“Oh my gods, he totally is!” Barty gasped, wiping tears from his eyes.
“Shut up,” Regulus huffed.
“I want to meet Justin,” Barty demanded, sitting up to stare at Regulus.
“Who’s Justin?” Regulus asked, confused.
“Your Prince Charming,”
“His name is James and no way, I don’t want to scare him off,” Regulus froze in his seat as his phone buzzed. He looked at the clock and winced. Barty knew too well what that meant. Regulus was late getting home and Walburga would make him pay for it. It was ridiculous he was a grown man for crying out loud.
“Oui, Maman,” Regulus said into his phone before his mother hung up on him. He stood up to leave but looked back. “Would it be alright if I maybe left some of my things here? I might need to stay over for a few days as well?” Barty swallowed. Was this it? Was Regulus finally going to get out from under his parent’s thumb like he should have done years ago?
“Of course, you can,” Evan replied when Barty didn’t. “It’s your room for as long as you need it,”
“You could share ours, you know,” Barty butted in, trying to lighten the mood in the most Barty way possible. “It’s a big bed and sooooooo comfortable,” Regulus rolled his eyes and left them to it.
“One day, he’s going to kill you, and I’ll let him,” Evan huffed.
“One day he’s going to take me up on my offer, and I'm going to let him...” Barty grinned back toothily.
“You. Bed. Now!” Evan pointed in the direction of their bedroom.
“Yes, Sir,” Barty practically fell over his feet in his haste to get to their room and undressed.

Dungeons - @into-the-jeggyverse - wc: 1k
The dungeons of Hogwarts were silent, save for the occasional crackle of the fire in the corner of the room. The atmosphere was thick with history, the stone walls steeped in memories of days long gone. And in the quiet, a familiar weight lingered in the air.
James Potter stood by the doorway, the soft flicker of torchlight casting shadows across the stone floor. His heart thudded in his chest—not from fear, but from anticipation. Regulus had invited him down here, to the very heart of the castle’s dungeon. The chains were old, dusty, long unused by the school’s disciplinary system. They had once been used to keep students in place during detention, to bind them to the cold stone wall as a reminder of their misdeeds. But now, they were something else entirely.
Regulus Black was standing beside them, his back to James, running his fingers over the rusted metal links with a quiet reverence. His posture was relaxed, but there was something undeniably commanding in the way he moved—like the chains were part of him, a tool he knew how to use, even if it was something from a past he had long since abandoned.
James couldn’t help but watch him, captivated by the way the dim light highlighted the sharp lines of his profile, the way his dark hair fell just so, like he was a figure out of some old painting, cursed and beautiful, bound by history.
“You’re late,” Regulus’s voice broke through the silence, a touch of amusement in his tone, though his back remained turned.
James grinned, stepping forward with an almost lazy confidence. “Had to make sure I was fashionably late,” he teased, his eyes scanning Regulus’s back, his mind already racing with the possibilities of what this evening would bring.
Regulus gave a quiet hum, and when he turned to face James, his eyes glimmered with something deeper than amusement. It was something darker. Something that James was still learning to navigate.
“I’ve been thinking about these chains,” Regulus said, his voice low, almost reverent. He took a step closer to James, and despite their years together, despite how well James thought he knew him, Regulus’s proximity always had a way of stealing his breath away. “How much they mean to me now.”
James raised an eyebrow, his lips curling in a teasing smile. “And how’s that? Last I checked, you weren’t one for the whole ‘punishment’ thing anymore.” He glanced at the chains with a mock frown. “Unless you’re planning on putting me to work.”
Regulus chuckled softly, the sound a mixture of warmth and something more dangerous. “It’s not about punishment, James,” he said, his voice sliding into something more serious now. “It’s about control. It’s about trusting someone enough to surrender and let them take the reins.” His eyes locked onto James’s, dark and intense, and for a moment, the world outside the dungeon felt miles away.
James swallowed, the playful edge of his grin softening. He had always known there was something a little different about Regulus—something that couldn’t be pinned down, something wild that James had only ever touched the surface of. Regulus had never been about submission, not in the way people thought. He had always been about power—about choice.
And tonight, it seemed like Regulus was giving him a choice.
James’s pulse quickened, his heart racing, and he stepped closer. He had long known Regulus was a man of contradictions, a person who reveled in the darkness while constantly reaching for the light. And James was more than happy to walk beside him in both.
“I trust you,” James said softly, his voice filled with sincerity. He moved forward, his hands gently reaching for the chains, his fingers brushing over the cold metal links. “I always have.”
Regulus’s eyes darkened at the words, his breath hitching. He stepped back, making space between them. “Then let me show you, James,” he whispered, his voice low and thick with desire.
Before James could react, Regulus was already moving, quick and sure. His hands were on James’s wrists, guiding him toward the wall. The chains were cool against his skin as Regulus looped them around his arms, securing him with methodical precision.
James shivered, his heart racing. This was different than anything they’d ever done before. The weight of the chains felt both foreign and familiar at the same time, binding him, but in a way that wasn’t oppressive—just heavy, like a promise.
Regulus took a step back, his eyes tracing James’s form. There was something raw and intimate in the way he looked at him now, like he was seeing James in a way he never had before.
“You’re beautiful like this,” Regulus murmured, his voice barely audible. He took his time, letting his fingers graze James’s exposed skin, tracing the lines of his jaw, down to the dip of his collarbone. “Every part of you is mine.”
James closed his eyes, a breathless laugh escaping his lips. “Then take me,” he whispered, the words more of an invitation than a demand. “Take all of me, Reg.”
Regulus’s breath hitched at the words, but he didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he stepped back again, his eyes never leaving James as he took a moment to savor the sight—the chains, the vulnerability, the trust that shimmered in the air between them.
“Good,” Regulus said after a moment, his voice thick with something dangerous. “I’ve wanted this, wanted you, for so long.” He moved forward, his hands trailing down James’s chest, his fingers tugging at the fabric of his shirt. “You’re going to be mine tonight. And you’re not leaving until I’ve had enough.”
James shuddered at the intensity in Regulus’s words, a flush creeping up his neck. He knew that this wasn’t about power in the way the world usually understood it—it wasn’t about dominance for the sake of it. It was about trust, about pushing the boundaries of what they thought they knew about each other, about how far they were willing to go for one another.
