oh my god i forgot i was making an entire post abt how, w the current information we have on every single lser, there is nobody FOCUS couldve farmed for hearts without banning them or it being discovered by other players (besides vortexdragon). so squiddo and 4c either lied abt not being given hearts (as possible heartbanks for someone) or they were exploited hearts in some way since i do not believe that vortex was farmed for even a second

Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest
Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here
Edit: If I knew this post was gonna get 1000+ notes I would've tried to word it better or something, this was a rant I made on the way to the grocery store 😭
It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony
#the final confrontation was basically his first death again#and YES he Does want the Joker dead#and it would've been really really nice if Batman was the one who did it#but when batman made it clear he wouldn't kill the joker. Jason easily switched to saying “LET me kill the joker” to accommodate#because he Wanted batman to pass his test#he gave a test to dick too. and technically tim but it wasnt the family test it was a different one so it doesnt rly count#AFTER utrh and the reveal and the batarang you can go hog wild about it. i care less about it then#granted i do believe they make jason more scared of the joker after it at some point#i guess because hes a bit too willing to kill the joker and ive heard jason wasnt meant to live after utrh#my watsonian explain for that is he was so fixated on his plan he cpuld override his fear. or maybe the pit. either work#i prefer the fixation bc i dont like the explanation that the pit was the /only/ reason he could get all plan together and done#BUT THATS UNRELATED!!!#dc stop putting the joker in jason stories im begging you please please please. lock him in a vault for the next 20 years or something#it Cpuld be good and i understand. but also. after so long of people that dont know or go for jasons need for family and parents#that love him and he can trust#the joker starts to feel like?? hm. words. a cop out? oh haha its that guy that killed him woagh hes here#i bet you dont even know that jaybin got beat until unconsciousness by an angry mob#while asking batman to save him only for batman to have to walk away#anwya. where was i going with this#i think i got off topic#jason todd#dc comics#batman#ADDED AN EDIT. SORRY. this post has been haunting me it keeps me awake. what if people misunderstand#they cant read my tags where i ramble more depth. thisbis the only option#EDIT EDIT: hiii#removed the sentence abt jason having the joker for several days bc i misremembered some things#go read its-your-mind 's addition instead also#ok no more i wont edit this post anymore i promise

hm one thing im not happy with on the original post is i said the staff hate campaign has been going on longer than the transandrophobia debate and then immediately talk abt matt maybe being the source, but i don't actually know how long he's been CEO, nor do i have the best sense of time regarding how long the transandrophobia thing has been going on, i was just going off of the fact that it just. feels like that's the order of events as i remember them. but also i mean i guess that is. actually just how remembering things works now that i think about it? i may be overthinking this

The great thing about night shift is I get to be awake at night and asleep during much of the day, but the annoying thing about it is that it’ll take me like half a year to be funcitonally diurnal again
#this post is brought to you by 5 A.M. me#who could have easily got to bed 3-5 hours ago#but instead stayed up ruminating about life#it started out about life and then somehow in that stream of thought I wanted to remember this specific quote I read in a fic once#then I got distracted rereading about the times when me and the gang were reading it for the first time#ahhh the memories#painful yet cherished#like holding a really hot bowl of soup or something#idk can't think of anything else to describe it#maybe if it weren't 5 in the morning I could#anyways yes this is about gomens bookclub and about shotgun wedding specifically#I'm SURE one of us must've quoted that quote in the discussion channel but maybe I'm misremembering#maybe it was DMs#god there were so many DMs for that fic...#but I can't go to sleep until I find that quote and I know if I open the actual fic that will be The End#and if there is one thing I absolutely cannot afford to do right now it is finish or restart shotgun wedding#maybe after death exam 3#I feel like I keep deferring all the things I actually want to do until ‘after death exam X’#and then when the opportunity arises to actually Get What I want I just run#and then once the opportunity closes I pretend like It Was Never Meant To Be when really it's just cowardice again and again and again#TOTALLY won't have any lasting consequences or implications for the rest of my life!!#anyways. where was I going with this#oh yeah time to go DM hunting I guess#I'm putting a hard stop at 5:30 though#because there is literally no reason to get less than 6 hours of sleep when I'm working less than 10 hours a day#Cheese's personal molasses#EDIT: 5:22 and IT WASN'T IN THE DM'S JESS HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME I THOUGHT WE QUOTED ALMOST THAT WHOLE FIC AT EACH OTHER AFTER A POINT#maybe it was only that one chapter#anyways if anyone has been reading this sentimental nonsense and happens to remember that quote about not storing happiness on a shelf and—#expecting it to keep well; please tell me. I found the nge quote but I couldn't find this one and it is BOTHERING ME SO MUCH

I went back and watched the scene where Fearne and Ashton discuss what to do with the shard and there’s some things I want us all to remind ourselves of:
Fearne explicitly says “if I do have any say in it, I think it should go to you. I don’t know if I want it.” And goes on to say that she feels Ashton is meant to hold both pieces.
Ashton says they know that Fearne would miss them if something happened to them (this is NOT in the context of the shard, but the mission overall) and thanks her for it
Then they say “it’s nice to feel love for people. I love having you…here”
When Ashton does float the idea of them taking the shard they say “I need you to promise me that we’re going to find a way to make it happen if we’re going to do it”
When discussing the plan, Ashton continually uses ‘we’, showing that he has always considered this their plan. Together. With equal say. And she can easily say no, Ashton would have accepted that answer. It’s specifically an “IF” question.
Ashton asks Fearne explicitly that if it goes wrong to “Please try and save my life. I’m not lookin’ to die”
This is explicitly not a martyr attempt
Ashton says he trusts Fearne more than they trust the others.
In regards to the plan, they word for word ask “Are you okay with that?”
Fearne responds “Yes I’m okay with that.”
There is no pressuring that goes along with this question whatsoever. Ashton outlines their idea for the plan, and then asks point blank.
He then apologizes for putting this on her.
Ashton also tells her “if it’s not okay it’s not your fault”
Ashton expresses that it’s nice having something to lose again, “So hopefully I won’t fucking lose it…again”
Other moments worth noting:
in the scene in Percy’s laboratory, Ashton says that “[they]’d like to feel safe…for once” when discussing how they’d like it to just be them and Fearne.
After getting kicked in the face and yelled at, Ashton immediately tells Fearne “that’s probably fair” holding no anger or resentment and validating her feelings as much as they could in their current state.
It was not manipulation. Fearne was not coerced. There were no double meanings. Ashton was straightforward as always. It wasn’t a recklessly planned or naive decision, they both felt this was the right call. It was not a martyr attempt either, Ashton did not want to die. But they felt this was the right call for the mission, so they stepped up and put their own neck on the line.
Ashton was being himself in a very stressful and gut-wrenching way, but it was not malicious or twisted. It was just terrifying.
Edit: I have removed a note about a comment made when Ashton kissed Fearne, I had misremembered the timing and delivery and hadn’t seen a clip of that scene circulating to rewatch yet, only the clocktower. Other than that, everything is accurate.

"البدايات الجديدة هي فرص للحياة تُصنع بقرارنا الكامل فقط اذا كانت لدينا الرغبة في الاستمرار في الحياة والاستمتاع"
“Life is what you make out of the time given to you, Make good use of it” دائمًا كان الرجوع بالزمن هو واحدة من اكبر أمنيات الانسان علي مر العصور، فمن بداية ولادته حتي لحظات موته وثوانيه الاخيرة في هذه الحياة يظل حبيسًا لتلك الأُمنية واعتقادنا الكامل بأن افضل ايام حياتنا هي أيام مرت وانتهت وأن الماضي يحمل تفاصيل من الصعب تكرارها أو العكس، حيث يتمني البعض الرجوع بالزمن في سكرات موته لأن حياته كانت أسوأ ما يكون فهي مليئة بالتقصير وتغلبها العشوائية وتكاد تكون بلا معني، فيتمنى وهو مدرك تمامًا في اخر نظراته للحياة بأن يجد فرصه لرجوع الروح والحصول علي بداية جديدة.
Strangely, so many people are obsessed with traveling back in time. I think there's a reason for this madness that no one understands. The typical reasons people want to go back are either to experience a lost opportunity or to enjoy a feeling they miss. We tend to dream about the past until it haunts our memories. We can't help wondering if we could go back and visit those memories. Maybe we can do something that we didn't do when we had the opportunity.
The brain can only hold so much information, and so many memories. It so easily forgets, or misremembers things. After so long, one will forget someone’s voice, and their face. Without any outside factor, such as a video camera, to capture what one wishes to remember, everything begins to get distorted the second you see/ experience it; worsening over time like some horrible disease.
“Be the master and don’t let emotions drive you” و "لو" نفسها تقودنا لسر البدايات الجديدة حيث أن سر البدايات الجديدة هو الشجاعة على تخطي هذه العبارات وما يشبهها من عبارات التمني.
Many people don’t like change because they either got comfortable in their current situation or they’re scared to try something different. Fear of the unknown is what keeps people from making life-changing decisions and moving on. And by realizing that there are two routes that you can go down. You can choose to remain where you are, unhappy and alone, or you can go out and explore and seek change. Moving on can be hard and scary but the best piece of advice I have ever received is sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to get somewhere. You just have a choice to make.
“The past can hurt. But you can either run from it or learn from it” البدايات الجديدة يمكن أن تكون عراكًا وصراعًا قد يطول مع النفس مما يجلها ذلك ثقيلة، فهي أشبه بانتزاع روحنا القديمة واستبدالها بروح جديدة تمام حيث نقوم بنزع أشخاص وأحداث وأسباب وذكريات ممتدة ودروب قد قطعنها في العديد من السنين أو قضينا عمرًا كاملًا نجهز لها.
It's natural to fear the two most common aspects of a new beginning. We fear change, and that's what a new beginning is about. We also fear the unknown, and we can't know the results of a new beginning. Fortunately, most of us happily overcome those fears enough to move on. We are rarely able to have a new beginning without the sad death of the past. It’s like leaving a terrific chapter in a book to start the next chapter that requires the main character that you learned to love, needs to die.
All over your life you were waiting for that perfect moment and when it is actually at the corner, it feels so scary. We all are deserving of a great time but it is up to us to make the necessary changes and risks for that to happen. Let's not forget that we are not machines, but humans. Living creatures that found their way out in the world, and as humans, we will always commit mistakes, and hopefully, learn from them. And from that, we grow better.

Orange Flags (found in any post but especially ones about politics)
We don't always have the time and/or energy to do our own research, so here are some things to watch out for:
No sources. Obviously this doesn't 100% guarantee that the post contains misinformation but it does mean you can't easily verify it. Is OP right? Wrong? Outright lying? You don't know!
Contradicting sources in the notes. Again, doesn’t necessarily mean that OP is wrong, but you should absolutely do your own research before sharing if several different people are providing contradictory evidence.
'Unreliable' sources. What constitutes as unreliable depends a bit on context but be especially wary of unsourced screenshots (could be taken out of context), clearly biased sources (e.g. 'Nationalist News of [Country]' type newspapers), and second hand sources (e.g. a different, unsourced tumblr post).
Minor mistakes. Like an incorrect statistic, an exaggerated number, or a omitted detail - something fairly small. Maybe OP just misremembered or forgot about this one thing, but it could be a sign they've made an error or lied about something far more major.
Urgency. Obviously there is a lot of reason for urgency when dealing with crises, but if a post gives you the vibe of go go go there's no time to explain share this give money do it now don't think about it go then OP may not have stopped to check their sources, or even be actively using urgency to mislead you.
And lastly here's a tip: if you're not sure, save the post as a draft. More information might become available later.
Stopping the spread of misinformation is hard. We all want to help and sharing posts feels like a very quick and easy way to do it. But it's also very easy to share the wrong thing by mistake. Try to stop and think.
Source for this post: my own experience. These are things I've picked up over many years of being gullible online. I highly encourage you to take the time to educate yourself about how to stop the spread of misinformation.

So I've had these Grunkle Stan crackships on my mind for almost a year now. Could be interpreted as platonic, but I think there's great and fascinating potential if interpreted fully romantic. Full musings and explanations below (Warning: very disjointed and random).
Uncle Chan from Jackie Chan Adventures
Maybe Ford and Stan stumble across the Chans on one of their globe-trotting adventures. Both groups fight off the same supernatural threat and surprise each other with their ease and familiarity with the weird and fantastical.
I feel Uncle is kind of a weird in-between of Ford and Stan. He is knowledgeable but not a nerd like Ford, is generally cranky but doesn't get into trouble like Stan does, although he does have a level of disregard towards authority if it gets in the way of his goals. He's quick to do research instead of impulsively charging into a situation.
I think Uncle's dynamic with Stan would be hilarious. They would argue a lot on how to deal with a threat, but once they agree to work together, they could kick ass. Once he gets past his initial annoyance, Stan would probably enjoy Uncle's quips, even more so when he realizes that Uncle does not say them to be funny, he's just naturally snarky.
Uncle is never shown having any romantic interest or relationships, so I kind of headcanon him as ace, but I think it would be really interesting to see what kind of queerplatonic relationship he and Stan could form.
Jade and Mabel would probably hit it off immediately, and while Jade isn't as studious as Dipper, she also has an enthusiasm for the supernatural so she'd probably get along decently with him. She'd also probably think Stan and Ford are super cool, especially considering their lax attitude toward giving children weapons. Though they do still take the kids' safety very seriously.
Jackie is doubtful of Stan, much like he was with Viper, but seeing Stan look out for the kids would probably endear him a little. Ford might also help ease his worries, and maybe they both could have fun discussion about archeology.
I think Tohru and Soos could get along decently, though Tohru would find Soos' eccentric musings odd at first.
Additionally, Uncle's shop is in San Francisco, practically next door to Dipper and Mabel in Piedmont. The kids would easily visit each other every weekend.
Bruno Madrigal from Encanto
Stan has been to prison in Colombia, so I don't think he'd willingly travel there for fun, and Encanto Valley seems relatively closed off from the rest of the world, so I imagine their meeting is accidental, maybe a result of the Stans getting caught in a storm or something. They stay for a while in the valley while repairing their boat.
Stan might initially be outraged at the idea of the Madrigals not charging anyone for the use of their gifts, but perhaps lightens up when he sees how close-knit the community is. He'd still come up with ways they could show off their powers Mystery Shack style, probably butting heads with Alma in the process, lol. He might encourage Bruno to adapt a more showman-like approach to his seer abilities to make it more presentable and less intimidating.
Bruno and Stan connecting over their shared feelings of isolation from family is definitely what drew me to these two together in the first place. If they ever got serious about their relationship, I can imagine the biggest hurdle would be deciding if they should continue a long-distance relationship, since neither is keen on asking the other to be separated from their family.
Yuuko Ichihara from xxxHolic and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
Major spoiler alerts for both series. It's been many years since I've read them, and Tsubasa had so many plot twists that even CLAMP (the writers) admitted they were confused by the end result. I also might be misremembering some details, so bear with me. Factoring in the plotlines for both series and Gravity Falls would make for an incredible AU fanfic that I unfortunately am not qualified to write.
Due to Yuuko's shop being in Tokyo, a whole ocean away from Oregon, I like to imagine some timey-wimey space mumbo jumbo allowing Yuuko and Stan to meet in the dream realm. Maybe at some point, Yuuko's shop would obtain a door connecting it to the Mystery Shack.
Stan and Yuuko both have a mischievous side, though Yuuko is generally more reserved. They could start out as drinking buddies, though I imagine Stan would probably favor a light beer, while Yuuko loves sake.
They also both use aliases (it is never revealed what Yuuko's real name is), but Yuuko would likely be upfront about it. As their relationship progresses, Stan would probably feel comfortable telling Yuuko his real first name, even after she tells him the supernatural dangers of giving your real name.
While Stan scams his customers, he generally sells harmless entertainment and trinkets, whereas Yuuko grants wishes and operates strictly on an equivalent exchange basis. To quote the wiki, "All of Yuuko's customers must pay a price in order to grant their wishes, which can be no more or no less than the one demanded, or else harm will come to one's way. She is not one to tell the customer the most direct way to solve their problems because in the end, it can only be solved with that person's own realization and resolution to change themselves... Her abilities are not unlimited and may almost seem like a curse as it appears that she is unable to do anything for anyone or grant any gift (other than feelings) without it becoming a binding transaction."
When Stan finds out just how powerful Yuuko is, I think he might react with a mixture of hesitation and awe, especially when she reveals she knows about his past, and Ford being lost in the multiverse. I am on the fence on whether Yuuko would use her powers to bring Ford home sooner, or let Stan continue working on the portal because he's already close to completing it and this would be significant in defeating Bill.
I found that the main villain of Tsubasa, Fei Wang Reed, surprisingly parallels Stan. Both endanger reality to bring back someone who is lost, but while Stan does it out of love and devotion to his family, Fei Wang Reed only did it in an arrogant plan to prove himself a powerful sorcerer. And in Fei's case, the person is already dead. CLAMP's universe establishes that the dead cannot be brought back to life, and Fei's wish to do so would cause the universe to be destroyed. I wonder if Bill would factor Fei as part of his plans.
Stan also surprisingly shares a lot in common with Fai D Fluorite. Both use their twin's name (Fai's real name is Yuui), and for much of the series Fai's tragic backstory regarding his twin is unknown, and he hides his trauma under a laid back exterior. I think Stan would empathize a lot with Fai, after he finds out his backstory.
Kimihiro Watanuki is revealed to have been created to fill a void left by Syaoran after the latter wished to turn back time. I remember Watanuki's character arc involved realizing that people cared about him. "Don't disappear", "Continue existing". Stan would probably take Watanuki under his wing, much like he did with Soos. Watanuki might find life with the Pines family far more chaotic than he's used to, but slowly warm up.
Yuuko is revealed to have died a long time ago and has basically been in magical stasis due to Clow Reed's unintentional wish. When time finally moves forward again, Yuuko eventually passes on. She doesn't return in the canon series, but Watanuki is stated to have also suspended his time to wait for her return. In this AU, maybe she reincarnates in the past and reunites with Stan and the Pines in the present day.

Compiling additional proof against Wilbur into one, easy to understand list.
I'm making a simple list that anyone can refer to when faced with doubts about Shelby's and other victims claims. I don't know if this will reach the right audience, or reach anyone at all, but i'd like to get it off my chest.
Why do I care so much? Because i've followed Wilbur since his day on the Jacksucksatlife channel. He had a great influence over me as a teenager, and it sucks that he was an asshole all along. I want to see him fail, that's all.
Main points are all in Shelby, Nikki, Minx and other creators' videos on him. These are just small details that are easily missed.
Wilbur being abusive towards his friends
The first video in particular really highlights the amount of power that Wilbur holds. "Tell them about how awful I am to you" seems like a dangerous thing to say as someone who is actually abusive, but it's likely that he knows he can get away with it. He doesn't expect anyone to call him out on his behaviour.
youtube
The other problem I have with this clip aside from the taunting, is the vacuum cleaner. He asks her to tell the people watching about her experience, and immediately starts vacuuming for no reason which drowns out the noise of her speaking. Feel free to tell me i'm looking into this too much, but this is how I feel about it: It's him (knowingly or unknowingly) showing off his power. Showing that he's in control even when she's talking about the biting, creating an understanding that it's not a serious issue and that it's just a joke. His humour makes the audience laugh along at an issue that we now understand wasn't funny.
youtube
A clip talking about how Wilbur threw Niki because she playfully said she was big and strong. His quick sentence "you were saying you were stronger than-" could either be him misremembering, deciding to ignore that detail, or literally saying that he interpreted her actions as claiming to be stronger than him. He says it was a "consensual throwing" but we already know how terrible he is with consent. TLDW: Niki said she was big and strong so Wilbur threw her "to assert dominance" (and show that he was stronger than her).
Niki has confirmed that she "knew wilbur in that way", but aside from mentioning the biting habit, she doesn't want to talk about it. She just said that that period was a dark time in her life. No one should ask her to talk more about this (or even bring it up around her), but it is unfortunately possible that she carries even more horrible experiences about Will with her.
youtube
In Tommy's disneyland vlog, there is a short clip where Tommy playfully unties Wilbur's shoelaces and gets his hand stomped on. Thing like these flew under the radar because of their brotherly bond. You'd expect two young brothers to react like this, but not a grown man and his teenage friend. Tommy tells him that his finger got cut, and instead of apologizing, Wilbur says it was because Tommy was gonna untie his shoelaces. He essentially says that Tommy had it coming, that it was his fault he got hurt.
youtube
The biting behaviour wasn't exclusive to romantic partners. This is a clip of him biting Tommy's hand "for content", despite Tommy repeatedly shouting no. The biting isn't bad here, but it once again proves that this was something he genuinely did.
youtube
The story starts at 0:38. Here, Wilbur tells the story of how he helped Techno pick apples by gently throwing them so Techno could put them in the basket. Techno says that Wilbur is very bad at throwing. In response, Wilbur says that he threw an apple as hard as he could, aiming for his stomach. Instead, he accidentally hit the shoulder that his surgery was on. Anyone who's been hit in the stomach should know how painful it is. If Wilbur were to throw an apple has hard as he could at his stomach, it would seriously hurt. But he laughs it off. Wilbur once again claims that the person he hurt deserved it, because techno made fun of his throwing ability. I've heard that Techno's dad yelled at Wilbur for doing it, but even then, he still laughs about the story.
Wilbur's music and separating it from the artist
It's completely natural for a musician with a history of bad mental health to blame himself in his music. One of Wilbur's biggest inspirations, Crywank, have lots of songs about being a bad person. A symptom of depression is to believe you're a bad person. But as far as we know, Wilbur's music actually told the truth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't find the tweet, but we also know that one of wilburs old friends(?) came out with the info that Lovejoy's song "concrete" was based on their experience, and the song explains Wilbur's neglectful behaviour.
You should know what Lovejoy's music is about. A lot of it is based on toxic relationships, being cheated on, being abused. It is a complete mockery of the people that he hurt. "Call me what you like" is clearly about being in an abusive relationship where his partner takes advantage of him and cheats on him. She forces him to "bump his head into every doorway she sees suitable for them to go through". Not that he knows what the song he wrote is about though, since he couldn't recall a single thing about the song during the genius interview. Yes, he was high, but he may as well had someone ghostwrite it for him.
Singing "you claim your ex-boyfriend's a policeman, I say you need better standards" in the song Perfume is crazy when his standards are allowing abuse to happen.
When listening to Scum, you repeatedly hear him admitting to being scum and waste. Concrete is about how he's a piece of shit. Consequences should remind you of the actual consequences of his actions. I already explained what's wrong with "your sister was right". His parody songs are direct reflections of his real personality.
However, if you still want to listen to him - spotify has a feature where you can put local files into your playlists. If you have his music downloaded, you can listen to it on spotify without giving him money or views. Just saying.
Why he can get away with it
Look at him. He is an attractive white man in the UK, And pretty privilege is a thing, no matter how you look at it. He's popular and has gotten empathy from impressionable teenagers on the internet. A lot of people have put him on a pedestal after he showed support for the LGBT+ community and BLM, singing about being against capitalism. People feel bad for him because of his history with mental health problems. They excuse his actions because he was depressed during his relationships. He also has a pattern of exclusively targeting those weaker than him. Tiny women who he can pin down, throw or bite to show he's stronger than, and teenager Tommy who believed they had a brother dynamic. You will also notice that the only people who have shared their experience with him have been women who didn’t feel strong enough to fight back against him. He is a manipulator through and through.
This is not all the proof there is
If you need more convincing, watch other creator's videos and statements on the subject. Shelby, Niki, Minx, Alicenyannya. There are also more small things that he has done that add up, either violent behaviour, yelling, or ignoring people's boundaries.
You can keep uselessly arguing about why he acted this way, but the physical abuse is undeniable, and I hope that the other points in this post has shown his disrespect for consent (ignoring people saying no), manipulative behaviour (victim blaming, making it seem like a joke) and lack of care for the consequences of his actions (stomping on tommy's hand, throwing an apple as hard as he can at techno, throwing niki, biting his girlfriends).
Thank you to anyone who got this far, I hope someone will get use out of it. I'm happy to finally get what I wanted to say out there.

Whenever there is an extra long break between chapters like this, I can't help but wonder if Endo is struggling to script out the next arc or something. I might be misremembering something, but I think he talked about struggling a bit with the cruise arc in one of the interviews in the Eyes Only fan book and that the arc actually ended up being later in the series than he originally planned as a result, so I can't help but wonder if something like that could be happening again. I could easily be wrong, but he might be trying to set up something special for chapter 100, and it's just taking longer than he expected. I don't expect chapter 100 to have something as major as identity reveals or a kiss, but we could get a major lore drop or something. I could also see this next arc potentially being what TV Tropes calls a Wham Episode, in which something big and dramatic happens that shakes up status quo.
I suppose this is just how I cope when the break between chapters gets unexpectedly expanded like this. Sometimes, it just takes a while to cook up something good.

Something I think that would have made Rei a more nuanced character:
I play with the au idea of villain Rei a lot, and I personally think it would have been really interesting if instead of her being hospitalized for a mental breakdown, Rei was incarcerated in Tartarus for attempting to kill Endeavor in order to protect her children.
I mean, forget Shouto having a scar over his eye. I want to see Endeavor missing an eye after his wife caught him beating their son and thought, "Absolutely not."
If she spent the latter years of her marriage begging other people for help and the system failed her by constantly repeating, "Endeavor is a hero. Don't make trouble and don't tarnish that image," and essentially being told to suck it up, then it would make perfect sense if she just decided to take matters into her own hands one day.
Because Endeavor's a hero, he could have easily swept all that under the rug and removed his wife from the house. After all, who's the public going to believe? An upstanding national figure or an isolated woman who went out of her mind one day?
If Shouto was the only one who saw it happen, he could have been manipulated into testifying against his mother to the point he straight-up misremembers the real events of that day to the point he wholeheartedly believes his father's lie to the court and the public. Then the Sports Festival happens and leaves him questioning his memories. He's torn between the hard and fast rule that murder is wrong and the belief his mother is a bad person for attempting to kill his father against the cold reality of the fact she was backed so far into a corner that she felt murdering her husband was her only chance of escape.
In that scenario, Dabi's public denouncing of his father not only ruins Endeavor, it also calls into question that maybe the accusations of a madwoman weren't so far-fetched after all.

In terms of canon Jason gets the short end of the stick in pretty much everything. He is just a player in other people’s stories for the most part. His entire stint as Robin of course but also Battle for the Cowl, Death of the Family, Gotham War, and yes even Under the Red Hood. All these (and many more!) feature Jason but they revolve around someone else. Under the Red Hood is at the end of the day a story about Batman. Just like in 9th grade english class: what is the conflict?Batman is trying to figure out how to stop the Red Hood from doing whatever it is he is going around killing people to do. Batman is the one whose actions decide how the story ends. It’s Batman’s story. Now for Jason comics: What is one of many common complaints about n52 rhato? Jason has to steal other people’s friends to prop him up. And yeah, this sucks, DC mangling other well established characters until they are suitably friend shaped to pair with Jason is not it. Another glaring problem (not just for n52 rhato) that doesn’t get talked about as much: Jason needs a villain. Or at least something more defined than the standard opposition to violence against innocents as a raison d’être. Every single thing they put out about him is so disconnected and hollow because they don’t know where he’s going or what he fights against. A long term villain gives him something to rally against and a way to show his ideals and convictions. It gives him a way to learn about himself by letting him see how he acts in various situations. I am pretty into Task Force Z. It works for me because the villain is someone we aren’t very familiar with so we can’t be sure what will mitigate the threat or where the plot is going. Don’t run it into the ground by bringing him back to exhaust every possible plot point. I like things that are underutilized better because you have the door open to bringing it back later on. Speaking of that, the All Blades don’t get enough love because the only thing they kill is a generic villain who don’t show any personality and we don’t get to see do much damage to stuff we are invested in. (I might be misremembering a little about the Untitled here because it has been a while since I read rhato) Black Mask is not Jason’s villain. He went down easily as part of Jason’s larger goal, he is not good enough to give that much trouble. I am of the opinion that DC should kill the Joker, or at least put him on the shelf for a couple decades. There is an element of personal bias there but for the most part his character is stale and overused. Every single thing he does makes me roll my eyes. I especially think that the Joker interacting with Jason is a dead end of a plot point. Unless Jason kills him I don’t care. Status quo is god. DC editorial don’t have the resolve to weather the storm and commit to change. Far too focused on immediate sales and short term interest when they could use some innovation. I suppose Batman could be his villain, it is certainly warranted. But I can’t figure out a version of it that works for me, Jason wants so many of the same things for Gotham that Bruce does. Them punching each other over differences in philosophies and the way they manifest in the field is not something we need more of.

i really wish dc would work more with their previous continuities. the 'everything is canon now!' approach is ok, better than ignoring decades of stories as it was the case before, but there's nothing stopping them from publishing stuff set in pre-crisis/flashpoint or even the original earth-2.
it doesn't even need to be a whole line like absolute, they could do a "imaginary tales" thing similar to marvel's "what if" (cough "what if supergirl didn't die during coie?" cough) and then maybe some miniseries exploring the ones that get the best response. there's SO many readers that miss particular eras, they could easily make bank on the nostalgia, and even test the waters to see what the public is interested in. if only they weren't so stupid.
right! they're really not taking advantage of what "everything is canon" could mean and it's so lame.
and super frustrating to me that kara is one of the characters that would benefit the most from certain things from her past continuities being canon again, and yet as far as i can tell the only things that have been brought back are her being at least as old as dick and the brief karadox mention in the house of brainiac event (i also think it was implied that the events of superman: brainiac took place? could be misremembering).
i feel like they could expand mark waid's world's finest series into a line (doesn't have to be huge ofc, and not all written by mark himself) so they could reintroduce some concepts and story elements from pre-crisis for certain characters. i've always thought that could be a way for dc to solve their babs problem since they're so insistent on making her batgirl and erasing her disability now. so give her a "world's finest batgirl" mini/maxi that's set in the past and then let her be oracle in the present day.

This was a long ass time ago so sorry if I'm misremembering. I think you described Raven and Leona's relationship like Zazu Scar and maybe it's the winter season getting to me but I saw it more like Belle Beast. That one scene in the snow where she shows him how to feed the birds and then they get into a snowball fight specifically. I think you also said you imagined Raven going to Briar Valley for her internship but if she's connected with Ojitan maybe she can be *his* scribe / advisor 😎
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think their dynamic could be summed up as both Zazu-Scar and Belle-Beast! I've certainly made the comparison between Belle and Beast + Raven and Leona before too; I'd actually describe it more like starting off as Zazu-Scar (more antagonistic) and then over time softened out into more of a Belle-Beast dynamic the more they interact ^^ Twst is no stranger to combining elements of multiple Disney characters or lore into one, so I'd like that same spirit to be present in my OC and her relationships with members of the canon cast.
DLBHADFBYAEO8FQEdguqwuqwrtr2680.mhk80 THE SOMETHING THERE SCENE??? 😭 That's so funny to think about... In my head, I picture Miss Raven is like the nice neighborhood girl that greets the birds and sometimes feeds them, so the local wildlife is pretty fond of her. DFHIABSLAFADSIPAS BUT WITH LEONA THEY'D ALL SCATTER CUZ HE'S SO GRUMPY AND HATES IT WHEN THEY BIRDS CHIRPING WAKES HIM UP. She shakes her head at him and makes that birdseed trail leading up into his cupped palms, then gently coaxes a blue jay to step up. "It's alright, he's not going to hurt you. True, he's no Prince Charming... and he can be mean and coarse and unrefined--but give him a chance, and you might find something there that wasn't there before." Miss Raven said it all in Bird, so Leona doesn't understand what in the hell she did to convince the blue jay to trust him. "Oh, it's a secret," she says, waving it off. "Look, here come some more birds. Shall we have you introduce yourselves to them as well?"
As for the internship, I did initially propose the idea of Miss Raven scribing/advising in Briar Valley, but more for purposes of paralleling Disney (since Maleficent has Diablo for a minion). She's not particularly close to Malleus or anything. sabduoayvvefa I think it'd be sort of petty for Leona to get whiny about it since Malleus is involved. "Why would you willingly choose to work for that lizard when you could get an easy in at the Sunset Savanna palace?" He has beef with his fellow prince and is jealous even after graduation/j It's fine, a fourth-year student has up to three internships (which can all be done at the same location or at different ones). Miss Raven could easily intern for three months in Briar Valley and then do another three months in Sunset Savanna!
