the way that the king in fallout new vegas is just some jackass who got squeezed out of the post-apocalyptic ruins of the vegas strip by some capitalist fuckwit, and then managed to create some semblance of peace and order in the even more fucked up post-apocalyptic ruins of fremont street, otherwise being a no-name nobody who doesn't exercise any real authoritative power beyond just being inspiring and likeable to his fellow anarchists and who doesn't WANT to be an Actual King with Actual Power, is truer to the lessons we Should Have Learned from elvis' life than any glitzy biopic. i just think it's a really touching and fun spin on what could have very easily been a flat one-off joke character and it resonates with the broader themes of the game's world. excuse me i have something in my eye 🏃‍♂️💨
