Had some time to put together my thoughts for Mentopolis and I can say ALREADY vibe with it so hard

It may be the psychology major in me but I love psychological stuff like this so much. I also love that brennan is branching out and trying new TTRPGs (I think Aabria would agree with me that you are doing a fantastic job Brennan!)

I just love the noir mystery they are leading up to especially because it also seems to center around conrad schintz (conscious) who i love and adore this tiny tiny boy. The fact that people are going after the concious of this body says to me something is funky with what big project elias is doing at work.

All the cast play their characters to perfection:

Trapp: Hunch Curio is so delightful and hammy and trapp plays him as an idea that has no care for what others think of him hes just happy to learn all the things.

Danielle: Perhaps its the 3 nat 1s in row but I love anatastia tension so much. I love that she's got a rivalry with her cousin imelda and that the pulse family little all goes by Stacey Fakename. Perfect.

Siobhan: Speaking of Imelda, Siobhan is playing her to Femme Fatale perfection. Delivering the most reidiculous lines with a sultry and serious tenor.

Freddy: Dan Fucks. The man the myth the legend. I love his dynamic so much with Conrad. His just insane rivalry that he imagines they have is perfect. Plus he's delightfully flirty.

Hank Green: So fun fact i never got into the Green brothers back when they were big, also meaning I didn't really pay attention to the fandom drama that sprung up around their success. I absolutely love how Hank played the Fix. The calm congenial tone he takes even as he threatens brennan and breaks him in the d20 subtitles. Then you have his tender moment with the wayward thoughts. I hope he instead hyperfixates on Conrad instead of doing his job to destroy him and adopts our smol boy.

I'm trying to tackle Dornish fashion (it's fun 😙) and I'm coming up with a design for Elia & now I just keep thinking about the whole Elia/Rhaegar/Lyanna thing and some theories according to which the Martells (including Elia ofc) were in on it and knew the prophecy and trusted Rhaegar and stuff and it seems more & more nonsensical by the minute.

Like Rhaegar's thing, his prophecy calling, seems to have failed & led nowhere & got him, Elia & their kids killed. So the only way to pull that thread & save the theory is to propose that the Martells know about the Azor Ahai thing, believe in it (got convinced somehow) AND know that Jon (the promised prince, product of the fated affair a lot was risked & lost for) is alive. But it doesn't really seem like Doran or Oberyn were in any way concerned for Westeros at large in the book, given that the prophecy is supposed to be about an imminent second long night. Or that Jon is like, existant and important. No, unless something is revealed next book, they seemed to be exclusively focused on deposing Robert & then the Lannisters, the people directly responsible for Elia's death - and bringing back the Targs to first foster rebellion & fill in the power gap once the battle's won.

Like this doesn't look like the way people seriously convinced a second super deadly winter is coming soon act. They do the same as everybody, feudal wars & vengeance talk, which they wouldn't if they'd been talked out of such a self-centered mindset to such an extent as to be fine with Rhaegar kind of publicly shaming Elia by taking a second wife to make a prophecy baby to save the world (which obviously starts a war endangering them all). I mean...😑

Forgot I wrote this, and it’s definitely not helpful in choosing who to ship Quinn with, but I’m deciding to share anyway.

Quinn is so shippable, he’s basically been shipped with his entire team. Brock, Petey, Brock and Petey, Thatcher, Thatcher and Brock and Petey, JT miller, probably JT miller and all the people I already listed; some new ones are Nikita Zadorov, Tyler Myers, Nikita and Tyler(two BIG guys who make look Quinn look smol). I mean you might as well ship him with their new goalie Arturs Silvos if you wanted. (Though this is making no me think of how the shipping works. Are these guys hiding their attraction because he’s their captain or just teammate in general, internalized homophobia, they’re already dating someone, etc. also are they in a place where they’re like “no don’t even think of that” so Quinn doesn’t hear the thoughts they want to have about him? Are they usually in situations when they do have those thoughts there is someone else around that Quinn thinks they’re talking about. Are younger people worse at hiding their thoughts because they are new and suddenly hit by a wave of fantasies? Or are the older guys more likely to be like whatever it’s not like I’m gonna act on them? Or maybe they only think about it when they’re at home and compartmentalize better? Maybe guys who met Quinn when they were really young and were in the stage where they were having all these feelings but didn’t understand them enough to think things like “what if I kiss him” or were so oblivious to their feelings that even if they were leaning in to kiss him they still wouldn’t realize what they were doing)

And then of course there is Trevor or literally any of Jack or Trevor’s friends because of course they’re all invited to the lake house and Trevor is basically another Hughes brother so he’s going to invite people too. And then there’s Brady, or some people like to do the best friend’s older brother in the other direction and ship Quinn and Matthew.

Anyways, this was probably the opposite of helpful because I just added more people to ship Quinn with. And if it wasn’t clear I’ve fallen into the Canucks polycules and I love them (but I will read mind reading Quinn fic regardless of who he’s shipped with if you ever decide to write it)

You do raise an interesting question of how Quinn avoids seeing someone's interest if he's a mind reader. (I mean, obviously there are other stories to be told about Quinn, but for some reason this one is living in my brain now.) And actually it occurs to me, if Quinn mostly hears people's thoughts when they're thinking in words, can he just not understand Elias because he thinks in Swedish?? So maybe he stops trying to block him out, because it's not distracting like listening to other people's thoughts, and he kind of likes the sound of Elias's mental voice. But Elias is trying to get better at English, and sometimes he thinks in it, and--

Is Jon tall or short?

I think he’s short. (I’ll explain why under the cut)

This is to Jon; I think it’d be kinda weird to describe oneself like that if you’re shorter than the person you’re talking to. (I know this might just be about weight, but to me it seems more like it’s all dimensions, including height)

Granted this is from a weird eldritch being, that, I think, can be rather large. So perhaps not concrete evidence.

Again, this a threat, so might just be hyperbole.

You guessed it, another threat, but I feel it at least safe to say Jon’s smaller than the cop.

While it’s not, perhaps, the best evidence; I at least think it’s enough to say Jon’s not particularly tall, perhaps average height at best?

There’s also the fact Jon could barely carry a pipe around, (a pipe Elias could, apparently, bludgeon a man’s head in with). Jon also looks pathetic enough that Basira can’t even fathom him being able to murder someone.

(To be clear, I’m not saying Jon isn’t tall, just giving my reasons for why I think he’s short. Headcanon him whatever height you’d like)

His only concrete description is that he looks like he hasn’t slept in a week.

Just for kicks, here’s my personal headcanons on the archives staff’s (and Elias[and Georgie]) height and/or build.

Jon: Tiny. To me, he is the smallest wet cat of a man, 5’4” (162.5 cm) at most. No meat on his bones, just a little guy.

Martin: Like he says, not the smallest guy, I imagine he’s a heavy guy, very huggable. I know there’s the common headcanon that he’s exactly 6’(183 cm), but to me, he’s got 6’2” (189 cm) energy. (Am I the only one that took “not the smallest” to mean absolutely jacked at first, just a total beefcake)

Tim: Average. Average height, average build. Probably 5’9” (175 cm) decently muscular, (from those kayaking trips)

Sasha: canonically tall. Sasha’s tall, I’d say 6’1 (185 cm) I kinda imagine her to be curvy(?, I don’t know if that’s the right way to put it) you know those people who have, like some good arm fat? (I’m sorry, that’s probably the worst way to describe it, but I don’t know how else to explain it) Really soft, kind looking type of person.

Elias: Elias is an odd one, ‘cause depending on the day I might think he’s kinda big, like 5’11” (180 cm) and somewhat muscular (less so than Tim), ‘cause he did bash a man’s head in. But on other days, I might go with the common twink version of Elias, I’m thinking 5’6” (167 cm), so still taller than Jon, but shorter than most guys. (He was also described as a “weird little freak” by Daisy, but that was, once again, a threat, so might just be intimidation)

Melanie: Canonically skinny. Honestly, a lot like Jon, I imagine her to not have much meat on her bones,(although, probably more muscle on her than Jon) she’s all sharp angles. While I do like the idea she’s the exact same height as Jon, I think she’s either one inch taller or shorter, either way she’s intolerable about it.

Georgie: I don’t really have any specific height for Georgie, but I’d probably say somewhere around 5’5” - 5’7” (165 - 170 cm). Like Martin, she gives off very huggable vibes, kinda like that one person you know that’s really nice and soft looking, but can also just verbally destroy someone.

Basira: Average height, on the heavier(?, not sure that’s the right word for it) side. It’s implied that she and Martin are not as skinny as Melanie, so I think Basira’s pretty muscular, but it’s like in a weight lifter kind of way. I feel like she’s probably 5’8” (173 cm).

Daisy: strong. If anyone is absolutely ripped in The Magnus Archives, (other than Jared Hopworth) it’s Daisy. However, I don’t think she’s that tall, probably same height as Tim at 5’9” (175 cm).

Big ol' plot bomb regarding Raj's world and where Elias fits into it:

The mad-scientist/mage type character or "Doctor" who made Raj and his crew of cyborgs also made Elias. Elias was their prototype; their "rough draft" if you will.

Elias is just as strong as Raj (perhaps stronger...) but, he suffers from an affliction. Once per month, for approximately one week, his body will start to rapidly decay and then regenerate. This is highly unusual as the material these cyborgs' bodies are made of is a self-healing biometal with a degree of intelligence, pre-programmed by the mage who fabricated it. One could consider it a 'glitch' of the wetware.

Although the finish of Elias' body is lacking the bright, oxygenated red color Raj has - his body is theorized to be even more durable than Raj's due to the process in which they were fabricated. Raj had to be quenched and 'hardened,' but Elias did not benefit from the same process, and was already durable - theorizing that his biometal body has a higher density.

It's worth noting that despite the increased durability, Elias has a significantly decreased mobility due to his various flaws and extreme density - capable of a maximum speed of only Mach 1.5 (1,151 mph). This is of course compared to high tech weaponry and the other cyborgs of his type who can briefly move at light speeds.

The Doctor who created Elias is using his flaws to keep him abated and under control, but much to the Doctor's dismay; they have found no method in their arsenal that can kill him. This deeply concerns the Doctor as they are an extremely accomplished Animus mage, capable of fabricating flesh wrought from living metal. And yet, the Doctor is not able to destroy that which they have created. It is for this reason that they fear Elias and have him imprisoned within the depths of a research lab.

The reason the Doctor isn't afraid of Raj but IS afraid of Elias is because of the difference in their personalities. Raj is very kind and forgiving and easy to sway with emotions. Elias is bitter, jaded, beat down, but not down for the count - he's coiled like a predator in his bonds, waiting for the moment for his captor to slip so he can strike. The Doctor knows this and that's why they're afraid of him.

Annabelle stands tall holding a smol Jon like the scrunkly wet cat he is. Elias walks up and smears green paint on his forehead. Avatars of the other fears come up in turns and smear some paint/color/mark on Jon’s forehead.

When Jon’s been marked by all the entities, Annabelle lifts him up into the air, and the view shifts to the fears below. A door opens in the sky, screams fill the air, and the screen goes dark.

Smol Jon suddenly appears and green eyes open all around him, within him, and on him; he looks like a biblically accurate angel.

Had the weirdest dream about your universe/OCs/idek!!!!!

Somehow me n my partner found a giant egg in the woods. And in this dream I knew all about ur OCs and in my mind I was instantly like „THAT‘S NOAH IN THIS EGG OMG!“. But I could not talk about my knowledge since I was under some kind of spell. Yeah. We took that egg home.

That’s when it got rlly weird lol.

You (in the sense of you running this blog) appeared and knocked on our apartment door. You were dressed like an old druid and were like „I live here now“. And me n my partner were like „weird but okay“. Once again I knew everything and was like „!!!! That‘s Elia!!!! They want to make sure we take care of the egg and protect it!!!!“ but I still couldn’t say something due to the spell. And you made sure to be rlly vage with what you said to us since you also couldn’t drop the entire lore on us due to a spell you were under. And I tried to be like „!!!! My guy!!!! I know everything!!!!“ but it didn’t work.

Then there was this evil cooperation(TM) that somehow found out we found the egg. And they wanted the egg too to turn Noah into a weapon to use against the current ruler of the planet. So you gave us the mission to break into the cooperation‘s HQ and destroy it so that they would stay away and not hurt the egg. My partner n I made it into HQ and found the control room. And right before we pressed the „destruction button“ I woke up.

also you will be delighted to learn that i do have this au!!!!! kind of. amorphous immortality research setting nickname code:metallia which is so ancient it doesn't even have a tag (it was huge in 2010-14 me's brain from before i oc dumped on here lol) can't overshare bc rsi typing restrictions but the basic setup is. alternate reality where true rulers don't exist and the nerice research team tm is trying to make their own gods. the original plot of it was very tide family centric (jumie gets fridged at the start for once lol) and most of the other immortal-adjacent ocs are in some way being used or created in the process of this research. i haven't actively worked on it since 2014 though and that was pre-moon lore overhaul so i can't say much more abt it here & now :x

Time was a fickle thing. It seemed to go so fast at certain moments but slow so much in others. At the moment time seemed to go at a snail's pass. Every detail clear in your mind from your lain state. His brown eyes poured into yours, sadness obvious on his face as he cradled your head. All enemies had been eliminated from the area, the defuser next to you doing its job without interruption. "We did it, Elias." Your voice was soft, strained, eyes flickering to its light hum.

"Shhh Liebling, save your strength. I've got you." Your head rested on his knees as he leaned over your body but the damage had already been done. With what little strength you had, your arms extended out to touch his covered face. Yet there was little capability as your fingers caught on his face covering. Slowly he let go of you, his hands prying his helmet off his face giving you the perfect view of his face. A handsome face, a beautiful face, one that you were glad to see in your final breaths.

"I love you, Elias, so much." The cool contact of his forehead pressed against yours, his clothed hand holding your check.

"I love-"

"Must you two do this every single fucking time one of you gets downed?" With wide eyes, a slap landed on Elias's back and he was yanked back off you. A laugh bubbled from your lips as Elias was pulled to his feet. Your head smacked down onto the ground with little pain due to the absence of his support and you propped yourself up with your elbows. Seamus held Elias up by the scruff of his neck as if he were some naughty little kitten. With a huff, he let go of him and extended a hand out to you.

"It's supposed to be as real as possible right?" A grin was plastered on your face as you took his hand and he yanked you forward off the ground.

"There's nothing wrong with a little fun. Besides the round was over." Elias patted you on the shoulder before dusting off some of the white powder that covered you.

"It was far funnier the second time you did it. Not the goddamn fifth." Seamus had his mask in his hand while his hand rested on Elias’s shoulder, there wasn’t any genuine anger in his voice.

"Yeah but it's normally Elias who always gets downed, I never get to play dead.” Seamus rolled his eyes in response.

“Come on, let's get lunch.”

Helloo there! I'd like to give lots of love for this story! I'm a fucking pusset, and I avoid horror with all my might, usually, but your story has been really intriguing and I'm, above all else, deadly curious! I think there's only one other horror IF that I actually like, and now there's yours too! The story seems to be pretty interesting and the MC being a private investigator only adds to that (me loves sniffing around where I shouldn't). When I read the whole swamp scene there was a giant storm here, and when we reach the parking area, the lights started to flick here, the game's sound made it a whole lot worse and I was like "Well, damn you wendigo sir, you already found me". 😢

I looved Elias, he's a real grumpy and my MC was so terrified that she resorted to violence, never my first option, but I loved the outcome. And I'm sooo curious about Shepard, and literally everyone. As Elias said "curiosity killed the cat" and oh man I'm in for a ride, no regrets.

...speaking of which, I'm not sure whether Kotoko is correctly scaled. Kyoko is supposed to be 5'6" and Mami is 5'2", so those look accurate next to each other. But I can't find any official height for Kotoko; all I know is that she is tiny in her manga/anime. Here she looks to be about 5'0" or so by comparison to Mami? Not sure if smol enough.

Yes, I'm aware there's a lack of gender diversity in the lineup so far. Once I have Makoto Naegi, Yuma Kokohead, and Elias Ainsworth on the shelf, things will look a little bit more equitable ... But I'm also looking to add a Mikoto Misaka and a Yuno Gasai, so the girls will continue outnumber the boys. (And I'm thinking about a Goblin Slayer, maybe? Haven't decided for sure.)

......I'm gonna need to get these a new dedicated shelf, aren't I? Crap.
