for the fic asks! 3, 4, 11, and 13 for smoke signal, my belovedddd 💕🤠
!!!!! such good ones mack, and yaaay, i never get to talk about smoke signal 🥰🥰
3. What’s your favorite line of narration?
'Steve holds the pair of sharp scissors but Eddie looks utterly relaxed as he leans against the back of the chair and Steve gingerly cuts his hair.'
i'm not sure if it's the line itself or just what it signifies. it's a demonstration of the trust between them - when they first meet, eddie is the one holding the blade to his throat, and now steve has the blade and eddie is the vulnerable one. i also love haircuts in general, so. good stuff.
4. What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
oh it's gOTTA be: "Someone like me. Someone who's not the marryin' kind." - i had that line really early on and it was just There, ready to go. i was so excited when i figured out how to integrate it into their conversation.
11. What do you like best about this fic?
how different it is from my other fics!! i still sometimes forget i wrote it, in a way? like it feels outside of my usual style but i really like it for that reason. when i started it, i was like how the hell am i going to write this but then it came together in the end.
13. What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
one day i'll stop rec'ing george harrison songs for my fics, but today is not that day. i was listening to behind that locked door or just. silence. as i wrote this one. i was staying in a cabin at the time so i got to write it by an actual fireplace so that felt like a pretty good soundtrack.

Rat Lombot (Ross E F Lombardi) changing the words of - Thomas Builds-the-Fire, Smoke Signals (Sherman Alexie) - …to better suit his reality.
- Rat Lombot (Ross E F Lombardi) changing the words of - Thomas Builds-the-Fire, Smoke Signals (Sherman Alexie) - …to better suit his reality. . "SHOULD we forgive our 'genetic' fathers? Maybe when we stop having nightmares. Do we forgive our fathers for scaring us too often, or forever, when we were little? Maybe for ScarRing us with expected rage, or making us dead inside because there never seemed to be any gentleness there at all? Do we forgive our fathers for harming our mothers, or for swearing revenge on our mothers? Or threatening, or hurting, our mothers? And shall we forgive them for their excesses of terror or brutality? Shall we forgive them for pushing, or hitting? For shutting of mouths or the growl through gritted teeth? For never allowing speaking, or never being merciful?
Do we forgive our fathers in our grave, or in theirs? Or in their suffering, Killing the wife-beating bastard Or Not killing the wife-beating bastard. If we forgive our fathers, will we become the same monsters?"
. For reference - the original: "How do we forgive our fathers? Maybe in a dream. Do we forgive our fathers for leaving us too often, or forever, when we were little? Maybe for scaring us with unexpected rage, or making us nervous because there never seemed to be any rage there at all? Do we forgive our fathers for marrying, or not marrying, our mothers? Or divorcing, or not divorcing, our mothers? And shall we forgive them for their excesses of warmth or coldness? Shall we forgive them for pushing, or leaning? For shutting doors or speaking through walls? For never speaking, or never being silent? Do we forgive our fathers in our age, or in theirs? Or in their deaths, saying it to them or not saying it. If we forgive our fathers, what is left?"

The issue is that people who have a sense of boundaries probably won't @ or otherwise ping writers/creators directly, but rude people Will which skews how negative fandoms seem- if you're a public facing creator I hope you have a good day and know you and your work is loved
