One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothers’.

And I’m not talking about height! I’m specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, it’s very clear that Leo’s carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.

Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leo’s does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but it’s also just a fun design difference between them.

(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)

Does Iceman let Slider fly at some point while Ice in the backseat (fun role reversal)? The Mustang is a big metaphor for working on their relationship/marriage -- now that they are finally letting people in, do you think that would translate to the plane too?

I would like to add something though! I recently commented this on this Slimav fic written by @secretstudentturtlecowboy (go read it, it’s really good! sfw as well!), but I want to relay it here as well.

Dealing with the fact that Slider and Maverick get together AFTER Ice and Mav already had a go at it (be it a break up or Ice’s death). I don’t see Mav and Slider coming together as a rebound. But I see a sad Mav seeking comfort in someone and Slider sees Mav as someone who needs protecting (he always has seen Mav as someone that needs a lil extra coddling. He’ll tease him effortlessly, but he’s always there to open his arms and give him the comfort he needs).

They’re two people who know the world isn’t perfect and never will be, but that shoulder they so badly need to lean on could be found in the most unexpected place. Slider is there for Mav in his darkest and Mav takes that comfort and lets himself feel something more after feeling like Ice was it for him. Slider sees Maverick curled in his arms one day and feels the most at home he’s felt in a long time and it hit him just how gone he is for him. They navigate through the bumps in the road, but eventually find happiness in each other’s arms.

Now let’s say it’s after Ice’s death (which correlates with my WIP, shoulder to cry on), they find comfort in each other because they both lost a big part of themselves. Maverick can barely hold on, but Slider is holding himself together for the both of them.

Maybe it’s a day Slider wants to make him laugh so they slow dance in the kitchen or have a water fight in the backyard. But they both feel that weight lift slowly and for the first time since Ice’s death, they feel like maybe there’s more than just this. The first time they kiss, it’s slow and deliberate and Maverick almost cries at how guilty he feels, but he can’t stop the way his stomach flips and how he clutches harder onto Slider’s shoulders.

Slider knows he could never replace the love Maverick held for Ice, but he also doesn’t want to. This love is new and exciting and they feel like maybe they can both live again after hurting for so long.

[ “I’m not him. I never will be,” Slider whispers against Maverick’s pulse as he buries his head in his throat.

“I don’t want you to be,” Maverick smiles sadly as he cards his fingers through Slider’s greying hair, “just be my same old Slider.” ]

Okay not married in this one but there's no way Jason wouldn't have learned about this kinda early on so it makes sense

Jason became shockingly familiar with “turtle” noises.

He couldn’t correctly call them turtle noises because he’d done his research. Turtles did make a variety of sounds, but for the most part the mutation—along with learning to speak human language—kept his boyfriend and his brothers from sounding like they would normally.

Not that they were completely without their strange sounds. Raph would frequently hiss when he was frightened. Leo made a bunch of strange chirps when he was annoyed—and thought no one was watching. And Mikey had a whole list of squeaks that he’d let out when he was excited or happy. 

Donnie had his own list of strange noises, though most of them Jason just chalked up to his brand of weirdness. Every single emotion seemed to have its own designated sound to go with it. Hisses, growls, squeaks, squawks, snorts, and everything in between. 

Jason got used to these noises. After eight months he’d gotten pretty good at deciphering them even. There goes the, “Donnie took a bite of something he doesn’t like” noise. That was the, “Donnie is straining himself to reach for a tool because he’s too lazy to get out of his chair” noise. And how could they ever forget the bizarre giggling sound that occurred when a new invention finally worked. 

After eight months, Jason assumed he’d heard it all.

But then…

He definitely didn’t do it on purpose. He left the lab to grab some snacks and some drinks and returned to see Donnie focusing on nothing but sliding two small bits of metal together. Jason approached from behind, watching for a bit before he leaned over to place the juice box on the desk.

The motion made Donnie jump, and as he did he squeaked.

Not a typical human gasp or shriek in the slightest. No. It had the same loud and drawn out noise as a windshield wiper on a dry windshield. 

Jason stared at him, eyes wide. 

“Jase, be more careful.” Donnie shook his head, acting casual like that insane noise hadn’t just left his throat. “These pieces are delicate.” 

Jason just kept staring, the sound looping in his memory as if to burn it into place. 

Donnie finally noticed his stare and lifted his goggles. “What?”

“Did you just make that noise?” 

He narrowed his eyes. “What noise?”

“That squeak, when I surprised you.”

“Scoff, like you haven’t heard me squeak a dozen times.” 

“Not like that!” Jason insisted. He put down his own drink and the bag of chips. Could he recreate the sound? He had to at least try. 

At least after eight months he knew how to make the softshell jump. 

Even easier to do when Donnie reached for the juice box. Jason lightly poked him under the shoulder right where his scales gave way to his plastron.

Donnie squeaked again. The same noise, though much shorter this time. 

“Oh my god,” Jason gasped.

“Will you knock it off!” Donnie swatted at his hand. “It’s not that strange.”

“You sound like a windshield wiper!”

“Rude, like humans don’t make their own weird noises.”

Jason would have argued that, only to get interrupted by a jab to the same spot. A high pitched squeak escaped his throat and he scrambled back before his boyfriend could try again.

“See? You sound like a dehydrated mouse.”

Jason glared. “What does that even mean?” 

Donnie smirked at him. “Tiny voice but with a hint of gravel.” 

He rolled his eyes and dared approach close enough to take his juice back. “Sorry for being curious when my boyfriend makes a sound I haven’t heard before.”

“You really haven’t?” Donnie tilted his head. “It’s not like I hide it.” 

“You tend to make a lot of other squeaky noises. Just what’s up with that one?”

“A remnant from my time as a turtle, I believe.” He lowered his goggles again and got back to work. “At least based on what little I could dig up. Turtle noises are not commonly recorded.” 

Jason sipped at his juice and finally plopped down in the other swivel chair. “So red sliders also chirp?”

“When they’re distressed, yes. Leo’s embarrassed of that one, but he never kicked the habit.” Donnie chuckled and then hunched over on his desk, his face inches from the metal he was working with. 

Jason scooted over, making sure he was loud about it this time before he lifted his legs and rested them on Donnie’s lap. The softshell didn’t push him off, so he stayed there and opened the bag of chips. 

Donnie held out a hand toward him. Jason extended the bag, letting his boyfriend dig out a few chips to munch on before resting it back on his lap and taking a few himself. 

“So, how much more of this do you have to work on?” 

“It will be less if you don’t interrupt me again.” Donnie stuck his tongue out as he attempted again to fit the metal together. 

“Fine, but when this is done we’re watching a movie.” 

Donnie chuckled. “Does the dragon crave cuddle time?”

“Watch it, I can kick you in the chin from here.” 

“Yes yes, movie after. Now let me work!”

Jason stopped talking, at least, but he crinkled the bag a lot when he reached in for some more chips and made sure to crunch on them extra loud. 

“Jase,” Donnie hissed. “Please.” 

“Fine,” he grumbled with his mouth full. He ate his chips quieter, thinking through the silence. 

Just what exactly would it take to get Donnie to make that hilarious noise again?

I wanted to post my HCs of what some of the characters favorite music genres are

Jackie- Mostly into Pop, but also a little bit of country and also really likes oldies, like 60s-70s stuff

Matt- Sure, he likes country, but he’s a really big fan of rock, he really likes bands like Metallica and Evanescence and artists related to their styles

Inez- Really a big indie/rock person (I also HC one of her big favs is Avenged Sevenfold lmao), but is also a really big boy band fan but is too embarrassed to talk about it

Slider- 90s-early 2000s rock/alt, it doesn’t matter what artist, he’d just fuckin listen to it (so ofc he loves Nirvana, BUDDY.)

Creech- DEFINITELY a bubblegum pop person. Also into oldies.

Scanner- Rap (he’s a big Eminem fan), also 2010s alt rock. And metalcore. He’s a fan of Falling In Reverse, Fall Out Boy, Motionless In White, a lot of cool shit because he’s my favorite and HE DESERVES IT, BUDDY.

🏎️I hc Matt and Creech having a very close relationship despite how little time they may be together. They just sort of weirdly click. Creech is incredibly nice and the type of person Matt just wants to be nice towards. She brings out the best in him somehow. He doesn't tease her too much, and it's not necessarily bc he doesn't think she can handle it.

She's kind of like a sister to him that he just wants to hang out with and protect. She also has a lot on her plate while being so young. Maybe the youngest Cybersite ruler he's met so far? She has a big heart and takes things with a graceful seriousness. That race meant a lot to her and she still talks about it a lot. How much pressure it was not to fail again and how grateful she is to the Cybersquad.

🪄 For Shari, I hc she's actually not romantically interested in Matt but is just overly affectionate. She gives all her friends little pecks on the cheek to show gratitude. Sadly, he thought she was and is a touch heartbroken over it for a while. After they talk it over, he still wants to be her friend and they stay very close.

Shari's the type to shower people with compliments, it's just who she is. Even without the romantic connotations, it means a lot to Matthew, and is somehow both a great ego boost and incredibly humbling. You do not want to disappoint someone like Shari.

🛹 WHERE do I even begin with Slider. Hatred. Jealousy. Confusion. Admiration. Adoration. Annoyance. More Jealousy. UGH. His biggest enemy, crush and least toxic guy friend rolled up in one.

I hc Matt has a lot of guy friends back on Earth who are just not great influences on him. Some of them are good kids, but as a group they're the type to take "boys will be boys" for granted. Combined with his father's influence, you have Matt from early Cyberchase.

Slider's the type of guy to quietly take on Matt's competitive nature and win or lose, shake his hand afterwards. Or probably fist bump, hehe. Slider doesn't entertain Matt's nastier, jealous side, in fact straight up ignores it sometimes. Which really gets Matt's goat. He's also not afraid to tell Matt to cut it out.

Matt cannot help but envy how Slider seems to take everything with a grain of salt, everything just rolls off that dude's back. Some stuff just ain't worth his time, worth thinking about, and Matt wishes so bad he could be like that. He's just a bit too loud when he tries not to care. It's obvious.

TANGENT ASIDE-... Matt's known some of his Earth friends for years, but he probably knows infinitely more about Slider. The guy's a surprisingly open book, when it comes to both the bad and the good.

It takes a bit, but Matt mellows out. Maybe a year later realize how big a crush he has on Slider... slowly grows out of it since Slider also seems disinterested in any relationships. [Girls. Guys. They're all throwing themselves at him and he's just not into it. Influenced by your hc ofc ;3]

"First, I'd wanna go see Matt, Jackie, and Inez's places and let them be my Earlie tour guides! Next, I'd wanna try some Earthlie food.... but not anything *too* weird." He hums in thought for a moment before holding up three fingers. "Definitely try some skating competitions on Earth! Would love to see how I measure up against other Earthlies besides the Cybersquad!" He chuckled, giving a small shrug with a chuckle.

omg, hi!!! I’m truly an Icemav girly, but how could you not love Slimav? The size difference alone makes me go feral 🫠 so onto babygirl and himbo HCs!

Mav is truly babygirl in the relationship as everyone says. He’s just so small and cute and Slider wants to do everything he can to protect him. Enter guard dog/himbo boyfriend Sli. He is perfectly fine just letting Mav be a reckless lil shit while he goes and enables him, but is willing to throw down with anyone to get Mav out of trouble.

In Slider’s eyes, Mav can do no wrong.

Slider originally thought Mav was very attractive when they first met, but he saw how Mav affected Ice and immediately backed off. He didn’t want to pursue anything if that meant his best friend was going to give him shit the whole time. So he just sat back and let the rivalry fuel a nice banter between the two.

Which he ended up enjoying tremendously. He liked the way Mav could snap back with equally good comebacks and quips. It keeps them both on their toes and gives them something to look forward to.

After the Layton mission, Slider couldn’t hold back his feelings anymore — hence the way he picks him up like a rag doll and shakes him around after Ice declares them wingmen.

The way Mav is so light (despite being all muscle) in his arms makes the feral part of his brain react. He likes that Mav is small. He just wants to wrap him up and take him away from everything that brings him pain.

When they get together, Mav starts to find out how much of a teddy bear Slider is. He’s warm and constantly has to be touching Mav, which Mav enjoys because he is immensely touch-starved. Slider is also so soft when it’s just them; whispering the sweetest things and caressing Mav’s face while holding eye-contact.

The way Slider’s voice gets all soft has Maverick melting and he’s always finding a way to nudge himself into Slider’s arms and get him talking.

Despite Slider being all sweet with Mav in private, he has to maintain his alpha-male status so he acts all cool and smug in public. He’ll still throw an arm around Mav’s shoulders and pull him close, but instead of cute words being whispered in Mav’s ear, they’re bickering back and forth about something one of the guys brought up.

It never starts an actual fight between them and instead leaves them with built-up passion/aggression for when they get home and into bed 👀

Mav likes to cook for Slider and Slider always appreciates it. He always does the dishes afterwards to make up for the effort Mav took.

When Mav puts a plate in front of him, Slider always says, “This looks amazing babygirl. My own little housewife.” And Mav always blushes bright red because he’s not a girl and he’s not his wife, but the way Slider says it lights a fire in him.

Mav is the little spoon in the relationship, but sometimes Slider just needs to be held in turn and he’ll lay his head on Mav’s chest and blanket his body with his own. He likes the steady rhythm of Mav’s heartbeat because it reminds him that they’re there and safe while Mav scratches whatever part of Slider’s back he can reach and plays with his hair.

Mav actually really enjoys this position because Slider is a nice and comforting weight on his chest and it makes his head delightfully empty and brings him down to earth when he’s thinking too much.

Slider is the furnace in the relationship. Mav’s hands and feet are always cold and he’s constantly shoving them onto Slider’s warm body to heat himself up. Mav always claims he’s never cold, but Slider knows better and makes sure to always bring an extra hoodie for him when they go out or will open in his arms silently for Mav to step into while in the middle of a conversation just because he sees Mav fidgeting off to the side.

What Slider doesn’t know is that Mav deliberately doesn’t bring extra layers because he prefers Slider’s own body heat and just being close to him.

They both really enjoy the way each other smells. Mav’s comment of, “you stink,” was just a way to get under Slider’s skin because he truly enjoys the way the smell of sweat sticks to his skin after a strenuous activity. It always mixes with Slider’s natural woodsy scent and Mav likes to bury his nose into Slider’s chest and just sniff.

Slider can practically smell the leather of Mav’s jacket on his skin after it’s been off for hours and always picks up scents of oil or the way a jet engine smells. It’s almost as if jet fuel was in his blood. It’s enticing and something so Mav.
