Long covid is a complicated thing. Mask up and take precautions to prevent covid so you don't have to learn about its effects the hard way.
Abstract
Introduction: This study investigated the quality of sleep in a sample of individuals from Southern Italy after the major waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of evaluating how sleep patterns changed.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between March 2022 and January 2023 and involved adults who had a COVID-19 infection, who were invited to complete a self-administered online questionnaire.
Results: A total of 408 individuals participated in the survey. Overall, 66.4% had a reduction in social relations; 72.1% had an increase in the use of social media; and 86%, 77.2%, and 71.1% reported an extremely severe level of anxiety, stress, and depression, respectively. Almost all of the respondents had a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score (PSQI) ≥5, indicating poor sleep quality. Subjects with a severe or extremely severe depression score, a severe or extremely severe stress score, who had a job, and who had someone close who died because of a COVID-19 infection were more likely to have a high PSQI global score. The use of sleep medication in the past months was significantly higher in those who were older, who had a job, who had a COVID-19 infection in the first and second waves, who had someone close who died from COVID-19, and who did not have changes in social relationships during the pandemic. Moreover, participants with severe or extremely severe depression scores, with severe or extremely severe stress scores, who were women, and who were older had troubles staying awake while engaging in social activities during the past month.
Conclusion: The results bring to light the high prevalence of poor sleep quality among individuals who were infected with SARS-CoV-2. Future research is needed to understand whether these disturbances are still present in the endemic period and whether it is necessary to investigate further determinants that have affected and/or are affecting sleep quality.

I have a sleep study tonight and I am very anxious about it. I have had one before but it was 4 years ago and at a different clinic. sleep studies are so difficult and triggering for me because of trauma from institutionalization / psych abuse and medical abuse. it is really triggering to be watched while I sleep and not have the freedom to get upr leave.
I also wasn’t as disabled when I had my last one, I was not using AAC full time yet, and so I didn’t use it for the first one. I also was not using a wheelchair yet and had more functioning over all. these days I am constantly dysregulated and way less independent and need way more support. the clinic was actually quite hesitant to schedule me with out me having a caregiver there all night. the compromise is having my caregiver stay until I am ready to sleep.
I really hope the nurses are very kind and patient and accommodating because that makes all the difference. I am scared but I am strong and I can do it and in 24 hours it will be done and I may or may not have to have a 2nd one in 2 week's. I can do it. no one will take away my AAC. I will be safe.
If anyone has done sleep study as AAC user I would love to hear your experience and recommendations or if anyone has recommendations on how to prepare and make this less awful trauma wise.
I have a hard time using AAC when I wake up or am disoriented so feeling really anxious about the communication aspect during the parts I am alone.

Every few months I have this cycle where I’ll wake up at some ungodly hour like 3-4am and not be able to get back to sleep. It happens for a week or so then goes away and comes back a few months later. I’m still not sure why this happens, and it annoys me to no end. Hypnos has been a bit baffled too because this isn’t common apparently, the fact it happens cyclically. He’s been pushing me to do a sleep study to find out how to tackle it, and he’ll help where he can in the meantime. I’ve been meaning to get a sleep study done for years, and I definitely can’t now because I have too surgery to pay for. But I have been wondering more and more if it’s linked to some other health issue. Most Google results say stress (which tbf I am stressed 24/7) but I feel like that’s not it. If anyone has similar experiences or any idea what it could be, please do tell.

How was the sleep study?
I had breakfast today for the first time in I don't know how many years because I was out so early.. it's 6:58 in the morning right now and I'm not going back to sleep. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention they had a mic taped to my throat too... It's annoying and I hope I actually get some answers but I honestly think it's just a waste of time and money.. I feel like a Guinea pig. Blah blah depressing blah, back to my plastic smile programming 😇 I hope you all are doing well

We're finally starting to look into my sleep issues. I'm waiting for my local hospital to have an oximeter available so we can see how my oxygen levels are while I sleep. If that has any weird results the next move will be a sleep study. Woooo progress (I'm so tired of tests)

My psych class had us do an easy-peasy little sleep study on ourselves to notice personal things and observe data, if able
And it's not looking too good, guys... I have 3 months to live

So, in May, I saw a dietitian for my GERD. Since then, I changed my diet to match what I was told. That included cutting things out like pop and chocolate. I'm 5'1" and my starting weight was 232lbs. I'm currently down to 212lbs, so down 20lbs. The weight loss is a happy side effect of eating a GERD-friendly diet.
That same day I saw my dietitian, I saw a sleep doctor where I was told I need to get a gastric bypass done having no background except my weight and not understanding in the slightest how my current disabilities can impact sleep. To be clear, No, I do NOT need weight loss surgery and run away from any doctor who tells you thats your only option. I hope when I go in to get do my sleep study, that doctor realizes how stupid they were trying to scare me into a surgery I do not want nor need.

Update/Explanation
So. You may have been wondering where I've been for the past three days. The answer, in short, is that I participated in a sleep study that ironically granted me no sleep, and then made the mistake of attempting to stay up until the next night, which resulted in me briefly dozing off for an hour or two and being very tired until I finally made it to bed at c. 5/6 AM this morning. I woke up about an hour ago and am finally having breakfast at nearly 3 PM, which is about par for the course for me, to be honest.
So yeah. Sorry about that.

Sleep study selfie. I just got home from all that. I already notice a difference after only one use of the CPAP machine. It's going to be a good day!

would love to not have lists of things wrong with me.
i on average sleep 12-13 hours a day. sometimes more, sometimes less. but i have to really try to not sleep so late
i woke up at 3pm today. slept 15 hours. on extra bad days i have slept up to 18 hours
AND I’LL STILL BE TIRED
theres brain fog and the sleep to much headache and ive wasted my day
it fucks everything up and when im with my family there is such a sense of shame and i hate feeling like im rotting my life away
but also i struggle to fall asleep
i have been like this since middle school and its only gotten worse
everyone has told me you sleep less as you age. but here i am.
anyway i need to get a sleep study done but i dont want to because i dont want wires stuck to me and sleeping in a hospital is the last thing i want to do.
is my mental illnesses, is it hypersomnia is it a secret third thing. who knows
