ppl who say one piece only gets good at Arlong Park or Alabasta or Water 7 are weak and will not survive the winter. you're telling me you didn't watch that freaky goober pop out of a barrel with the silliest grin on his face and immediately become enamored with him?? get real. and I think you're lying too because nobody hate watches that many episodes.

May I ask what you were doing in that video? Where you fall on the road?
Where I live, during winter, the roads get covered in snow. Snowplows only go through the main roads, so all the little streets by me and my friend’s houses that aren’t important enough to get plowed always keep their snow.
So what we do, is we tie this rope to the back of her dad’s car, with two little loops at the end for handles. Then we get our sleds and sit on them while holding onto the rope.
(diagrams for clarity)

My best friend’s dad is a HUGE formula one fan. He loves driving fast and drifting and stuff. So in the night, when there’s no other cars around, we can go out and rip around lmao
Tumblr media
It’s actually SO fun
in the videos I have, we weren’t going super fast, cause he didn’t want us to drop the phone, but when we don’t have the phone, he will actually go so fast it’s insane
he also likes to drift the corners, which will often send us flying off of snowbanks or something lmao. He keeps the back window open so if one of us falls off we can yell “MAN DOWN MAN DOWN” and he’ll stop so the person can run back over with their sled and grab onto the handle of the rope
It’s actually like, the funnest thing ever you don’t even understand

waking up to see snow made me feel like a little kid again
we got a whopping two inches of snow this morning which resulted in the entire state shutting down. roads are closed, a state of emergency was declared, there is no bread/milk/firewood for hundreds of miles. i made the mumblelard family traditional snow day pancakes covered in powdered sugar for breakfast while i watched the end of the snowfall
work decided to give us the day off at 4:30am but my supervisor called me last night to tell me to stay my ass home, which i was already planning to do, but it was nice to sleep in without the obligatory 6:30am call-off text message
ev and i walked down to the dam at the other end of the lake and found dozens of kids sledding on the best hill in the neighborhood. using anything they could since it never snows- tupperware lids, cardboard, and inner tubes were popular choices
we befriended a dog named nola who is “really more like a cat or a fox” and was just happy to be there. three little old ladies who i assume teach at the elementary school brought champagne and let us interrupt their sled races to have our own. this kind of snow has only happened a few times in my lifetime near atlanta and it was so fun to see everyone from toddlers to seniors enjoying every last bit of it
the snow has already started to melt and will inevitably freeze overnight but i am truly enjoying this snow day regardless

I live in the south and we’ve never seen this much snow in over two decades, so naturally I take a laundry basket outside and fail to sled down a hill

We will start the sliding down the stairs classes soon.
But let me ask you this:
Did you ever roll down a hill to get dizzy, only to sprint back up and do it all over again?
!!!!!!!! yay!!
🤔🤔yes i do have memories of doing that :3 there was this epic hill at my sleepaway camp as a child that we would roll down (and sometimes slide down on cardboard boxes) 🥰🥰

they should make a rope tow for your backyard that you don't have to build yourself or spend 9k for
#i just want to sled like a lazy person#fr the hill in my yard is sooo steep it's fun to go down but getting back up is awful#i literally have energy to do it like twice#i usually walk the long way around the bottom of the hill and up the road and across the field back to the top of the hill#instead of going straight back up#bc it's a much gentler slope but it's quite a walk#fr there used to be some kind of wacky homemade rope tow with a tractor here at one point but no more#it literally needs one#every friend who has ever come sledding at my house has said in their own wow this hill needs a ski lift#bc its a serious hike back to the top 😂#but it's great to sled down so i keep inviting people#i have some friends coming tomorrow who have never gone sledding here before#and most of them ski so i know they're gonna say something 😂#i'm literally looking into rope tows and they're 9k which is crazy#everyone seems to build their own but i am not that handy of technical minded#but what i am is lazy 😌#and broke#and i think i deserve one anyway <3#i think everyone should have one of these#or they need to invent the hover sled that will fly u back to the top of the hill#it seems like there should be an easy way to get back up tbh#just a rope and a car at the top or something but the car can't drive in a foot of snow lol#but there must be a cheap lazy solution here#there are some people with homemade ones and i think they make back the cost by charging people to use it for skiing#but i literally can't build one and i don't think anyone would pay to ski my hill bc it's a nice steep hill but there's nowhere to go#once you get to the bottom that's it you can just go back to the top and start over#but maybe as a sledding hill some local people might pay a little for that idk#but i dont want a bunch of randos doing that at my house then like suing me if they hit a tree at the bottom lol#but literally the cost of a tow rope makes it impossible even if it was homemade and im not handy anyway#but it would be so nice lol

A summary of today:
Surely taking our big homemade sledge (wooden board attached to skiis) down this big hill that we didn't ever sledge down for some reason (covered in rocks, we forgot in our excitement) with all three of us sat on it will end well (one broken leg)

hi!! saw the post you reblogged ab current temperature and that you live in southern california... what's your opinion on snow? have you been to a snowy region before? i need to know snow is so important to me (i mean tbh it's kinda rare when it snows here too)
omg thanks for asking!! i actually got the chance to see snow for the first time this year in february😁 I think it’s amazing!! i would absolutely die to live somewhere where it snows during the winter. down here we don’t even have any leaves changing colors for the fall or anything (probably because palm trees don’t do that..)
when me and my siblings were kids we actually came up with a parody of ‘deck the halls’ but it was about the fact that it doesn’t snow in our city🥲

hey Shal! So nice to hear from you! I'm happy to read that my words were received kindly, I was afraid I was a bit "too much" as I always am eheh :) I can maybe understand what you mean with having trouble with word finding and I can totally see you put a lot of care and thought into your work. But, honest to god, I don't read the "labor", the hard work behind things being thought out one way and coming together differently on the page. What I read is that you have a very distinctive style and it's a super smooth one at that (is writing for cinema or screenwriting in general a thing for you? I'll say it again you got the eye). And the dialogues are soooo, like, real! I said that I can maybe understand what you mean because I personally feel like my brain goes way way waaay too fast. Sometimes it's hard cause I don't feel like I can express myself like I want to and then people actually don't understand me so I get upset at myself and end up being unable to express myself even more and the cycle begins again... At university things were the same, my papers were always too "convoluted", my ideas were "too much", I lacked structure etc. It was very painful and made me feel like writing was not for me like at all. Which is bullshit, writing is for everyone. Now I don't know why I'm saying all this stuff, see? My brain is a mess, but I guess what I want to say is that whatever it is that you're doing with your writing process, you're clearly doing it great! It's a gift to be able to open up one's own imagination and show it to other people. It might not be easy(when things are, really), but it is a talent for sure and you got it!
take care <3

That's exactly how it feels! Too fast at the wrong times, too slow at the wrong times. Other times, just static.
Word-finding is the worst, and then ppl wind up nitpicking when you choose the wrong ones and it can be soul-crushing like, "Oh no wait. That's not what I meant," matched with the mean-spirited, "But it's what you said and no takebacksies!"
Ah...anyway.
If you like to write, maybe we can join up on a writing sesh sometime in the future! The only cure I've found so far for all the cognitive dysfunction is making a habit of it...and having good company.

one thing i’ve thought for a long time is that while i liked the idea of mal and alina running the orphanage it wasn’t something i really bought for either of their characters as an immediate sort of thing, alina especially. (mal being sturmhond now IS in fact about my favorite thing ever.)
but the character who i absolutely DO think would find his calling being Dad to a bunch of war orphans and abandoned children? Matthias Helvar. it’s one of the most interesting possible Matthias Lived fallouts to me. like, he absolutely needs a Lot of time to deprogram first and negotiate his own relationship with the world and his religion and relationship with violence, but matthias being a bunch of lil grisha kiddos lame awkward dad hits the sweet spot of being
a) hilarious
b) something wildly needed canonically in-universe - whose gonna take care of the grisha kids born into fjerdan culture or their war orphans without the existing requirement that all grisha kids assimilate entirely into ravkan culture and religion and join their army
c) matthias’s nurturing side is one of the most interesting aspects of his character
d) something that really engages with his story in terms of the fact that! he was shot by someone younger than him. his story is about failing to break the cycles of white male goyische military-nationalist violence, so a good HEA for him is one where he doesn’t just get to live but gets to address those root causes in the first place! and given that jarl brum was HIS terrible foster father and the root of a lot his problems and expressions of violence, walking back to that place and doing better, breaking the cycle, is so important
