peter and neal are so insane abt each other what the hell. peter keeps a photo of neal (and yeah okay the whole team but neal front and center) in his bedroom. neal sees it while breaking into peter's house because peter is (correctly) suspicious of neal having stolen a billion dollar treasure and it makes neal so emotional he pretends he didn't find what he was looking for because the thought of running away and leaving peter behind hurts more than the idea of never being truly free again. neal has a quiet breakdown in peter's bedroom while staring at a photo of peter and Elizabeth. peter is so psychically linked with neal that he senses the emotional torment and calls neal to ask if he can do anything for him and if he's doing okay after his recent breakup. they're insane.
