Really didn't think an arc that had such heavy themes of religion and belief would make me cry in a not past trauma sort of way. But here we are.

Honestly, Nico Robin beating the crap out of a guy for messing up ruins is peak archaeologist. Get it, babe. You are what we all wish to be. Also, did you all see the perfect square hole she carved out of that cloud? And those perfect cubes she was cutting out? Perfection.

⚠️Manga spoilers⚠️
Sooo I was researching the gods in one piece world, and there was a page on reddit talling about this page from Skypia:
Tumblr media
There was another comment there that was also interesting. So there were some children in fishmen Island named: Ichika Nika Sanka Yonka and Yonka2.
This is the reddit page and I didn't read all of it.
Alright. So Jaya is probably definitely a reference to El dorado, which as long as I remember was a myth created by Spanish colonizers when they found some gold in a lake that was there because it was thrown in there for sacrifices for years blah blah blah they thought it's because there's a city of gold because gold gotta be valuable for everyone ('cause they were cunts✨).
Yeah so those people who did those sacrifices were called Muisca people. They were Colombians and I think this does corresponde to the mythology. (yeah so probably people mentioned this before but whatever)
Quick fun fact there's a lake there that was religiously significant named Tota lake, Idk maybe Tot muisca comes from Tota muisca?
Anyway, so let's get into muisca gods!
In part two!
Cause I wanna do some actual research maybe and if i don't post this Imma go cold turkey

The NEWEST Lost Futures video:
The Anti-Colonialism of One Piece
youtube
I made this video so that it can serve as an introduction to colonialism and how God played a role in it all by using the Anime One Piece as a jumping off point.
But what's super cool is that this arc showcases an example of Land Back and Indigenous resistance in anime.
Further, I wanted to also tie this ancient arc to what is currently going on in the stories mainly the thing known as the Drums of Liberation because these drums are also connected to how Indigenous peoples used Drums as a political tool to challenge settlers.
However, One Piece is not perfect and so a small part of the video is dedicated to dunking on the autobot Oda because his Indigenous representation isn't the best and he also inserts settler colonial rhetoric / propaganda that may convince kids that Indigenous peoples were "uncivilized" or "barbaric"
This is shown in the Noland flashback where the explorer Noland brings "progress" and medicine to the Shandians.
All in all, this was a deeply personal video and I'm proud of what I made, so if you're interested check it out!
It's really good and worth the hour...
(I had to cover a lot of history lol)

Doesn't Luffy say something about his heartbeat when going gear 5 (first time)? Something about it sounding funny? Really wishing they'll have the beat going along the iconic One piece hype theme that's been present from the very start
Luffy does mention that, yes; and later we find out about the drums of Liberation.
You mean the Overtaken soundtrack? I've seen a few people suggest that one and I like the idea but what I love even more and think is more likely is the idea that it's going to sound like the drums during the final party in the Skypia arc. They really do kinda sound like a heartbeat.
Either way I'm really excited to see what they're going to do with Gear 5 in the anime.

This entire arc has just been me going, “Rubber doesn’t conduct electricity, prepared to get wrecked lmao!” and then screaming because, of course Luffy is stuck inside a snake.
