Roronoa Zoro; Watching

A/N: I don’t know what this is. Your first kiss with Zoro, happens right after Thriller Bark. Reader and Zoro are not in a relationship yet.

Zoro is a watcher. He’s always observing. Even when his eyes are closed and he’s feigning disinterest, he’s hearing all that’s happening and feeling the shift in the atmosphere.

He watched you when you first joined the crew. He noticed the way you clasped your hands together in your lap with practiced class. He took note of how your shoulders still carried tension when Sanji would serve you a beverage. He was aware of the alert look in your eye, the way they would linger when you were interested in Nami’s ‘Map of the World’ in progress.

When you first kissed him, he was watching. He had just woken up from the events of Thriller Bark. Everything hurt. The bandages that adorned his body were the only thing that separated his skin from your head that was resting on his stomach. Zoro picked his head up to identify the weight on top of him. His eyes had barely adjusted to the brightness of the world before the focused on you. You were still asleep. He laid his head back down.

How long had you been there? You were in different clothes than the ones he last saw you in. The ones that were ripped to shreds and stained with your blood. You had your fair share of bandages as well. The bridge of your nose had a band aid on it. The shoulder closest to him was wrapped securely, no doubt Chopper’s work.

He hadn’t been near you until the end of the Thriller Bark excursion, what with him having his shadow taken- he was considerably busy. When was the last time he saw you? It was just before Kuma appeared in front of the crew, you were the first crew mate he ran into. No. It was after nothing had happened. You were leaning against the cook. Through the blood covering his face and the blur of his eyesight he could barely distinguish the look of concern across the pair of faces in front of him before he fainted.

When he craned his neck to look at you again, Zoro was met with your eyes. You gasped, lifting your head from his abdomen to hover over him.

“Zoro?” It barely came out as a whisper. He grunted.

“Where’s everyone?” His voice was gruff and hoarse with disuse. It hurt to talk.

“They’re getting ready to leave soon. Franky and Usopp are making a memorial for Brooke’s old crew right now. He joined the crew by the way,” You muttered. Zoro wasn’t surprised.

“We were waiting for you to wake up. Chopper stepped away to have lunch but he’ll be here in a couple minutes.” You added. Zoro took a deep breath and closed his eyes again.

His skin began to crawl. “I can feel you staring at me.” He popped his right eye open to meet your gaze. “How long have I been asleep?” He didn’t want to know.

“This makes the third day.”

“That’s too long.” He murmured before making an effort to sit up. Your shoulders tensed from their relaxed position fiercely as you placed your hands on his chest to halt his movement. He looked at you again. Your concern was written in the creases of your brows.

“No. You aren’t going anywhere until Chopper gets back.” Your voice was firm, but there was something else lilting the edge of your tone.

Regardless, he dropped it and laid back down. His body was too stiff to be able to muscle you out of the way to get up. You kept one of your hands on his chest, the other going to rest on your knee and you sat in your shins next to his bed. You were still tensed, but the unfocused gaze on your face signaled that you were in deep thought.

Zoro huffed. You looked at him again, understanding what his golden eyes were asking you.

“What happened to you? How are you still alive?” There was a crack in your voice. Zoro blinked. The pain in his body spiked for a moment as he made a grunt. How was he alive?

“Nothing happened. It doesn’t matter.”

“I thought you were going to die. That you would be lost, forever!” You snapped, more sorrow than anger clipping your voice. Zoro maintained eye contact. Big, round eyes that conveyed so much emotion stared back at him. There was a vulnerability that Zoro almost didn’t want to be exposed to within your eyes. Almost. The intensity of your gaze reminded him of a doe.

“Lost?” He echoed.

“It doesn’t matter?” You echoed back.

Silence filled the room. Zoro sighed. The ache in his body ebbed just a tad. You dug your nails into his chest ever so slightly before releasing the tension in your body, sighing as well.

The soft clap of hooves could be heard down the hall. You look to the distance, then back at Zoro. Slowly, you lean down. At first he thought you were going to whisper something, but the press of your lips he felt against his forehead proved him wrong. Zoro set his jaw at the touch. It was soft, kind, unexpected. You pulled back.

“You’re lucky you’re awake now. There’s still some booze from the party left for you.”

You pushed up to your feet as Chopper entered Zoro’s vision. He watched your figure, drowning out Chopper’s questions about the redness in his face until he couldn’t see you any longer.

Mihawk would like someone that matches his dark and aloof aura

Mihawk is rather disengaged and bored of just about everything in life, but his lover is the one thing that he is engrossed by. I’m talking obsession, like a couple that’s too in love with each other that no one else is in the room with them.

Mihawk would be drawn to something with intense, dark features like darker hair and eyes. Sucker for lipstick, any shade of red. Black lipstick is one of his favorites too.

Mihawk would need to be with someone that can hold their own. His partner needs to be able to fight and be strong enough to defend themselves in a majority of scenarios.

Mihawk lives for thrill whether he admits it or not. His partner and him in a wild love chase *chef’s kiss*. Someone who can match his ‘cat and mouse’ energy and be frisky with him. Someone that likes to mess around with him and ignite their relationship. Be that some caresses then a smooth exit out the door or challenging him to something, he’s following you as soon as you’re out of his sight.

Mihawk would love long length dresses. Something that screams regality and empowers his lover and makes them look beautiful.

I see Mihawk as being a sucker for teasing. Your gown has a deep v neck and your cleavage is exposed perfectly? He’s looking. There’s a thigh split in your skirt or dress? He’s looking. Your corset hugs your waist and accentuates your hips. He’s looking and feeling you up. Whisper something in his ear, give him a long moment of intense eye contact, rub your hand along his chest then exit the room. He loves loves loves it!! He loves it all I cannot stress enough he’s transfixed by his lover for life.

Mihawk most likely wouldn’t want someone clingy, but someone obsessed with him. There’s a fine line and it’s easy it blur it. Whining about how he’s been gone from Muggy Kingdom and made you feel kinda lonely might come across as irritating if he heard it too many times. Someone who could keep themselves busy until he returns and grab him by his coat collar and tell him that he spent too much time away from the island is more enticing to him and makes him just as obsessed as his lover. (I really hope that made sense)

Mihawk likes someone that can banter with him too. Someone that can flirt with him whether it’s just them in the room or a whole navy fleet. Someone bold and confident in themselves, that loves themselves maybe a bit too much.

(Literally just imagine a scene with you and Mihawk exchanging flirtatious eye contact while fending off against marines and yall end up right next to each other and just as the last marina drops he grabs ahold of you and whispers another love confession against your lips omfg..)

Mihawk would want someone that is well rounded. Someone who knows the way the world works and has a good brain underneath all their beauty. Someone cunning enough to scam a poor barkeeper out of their berri but compassionate enough to feed the stray cats of the town. Someone that can hold a conversation with him of the best wines or whiskey and defend their favorites against his own.

Someone with manners. Mihawk appreciates couth people that talk with an air of knowledge and slyness and can read through the lines of marine propaganda. Mihawk needs some romance in his relationship, there must be love and trust, not just looks and lust.

Mihawk would pour his whole being into a relationship and needs that to be reciprocated. While he might be nonchalant, he can still be dedicated. People may know of his lover, they may not. He doesn’t really speak upon it but won’t deny it if someone were to bring it up.

Someone that was also a pirate would suit Mihawk. They can handle being away from him for long periods of a time, they can defend themselves and have connections to powerful people (shanks imagine you knew shanks outside of Mihawk’s rivalry with him). He would never entangle with a marine, he has a strong hatred for them because of his past. A civilian that hasn’t led a tumultuous life wouldn’t be best prepared for whatever hardships may come Mihawk and his love’s way.

Someone who knows how to dance!!! Oml imagine dancing with Mihawk and not js white girl dancing I’m talking duo romantic dances. Theres romance, there’s sexual tension, there’s a bond that flows between y’all’s bodies.

Someone with desire in them. Lemme explain, someone that can go a couple months without his help sexually, but craves him so bad when they finally reunite they can have a passionate session once alone. Someone to match his romantic freakiness.

Mihawk would want his partner to have a healthy relationship with sex. Sex is an act of devotion, and whether him and his love engage it 0 or 3 times a day, he wants both of them to enjoy it to the fullest.

Mihawk would prolly want his lover to be morally grey. If he kills someone and you get mad at him for it, yall won’t work out. There are exceptions to this, and he can easily change his ways if that’s what his lover coaxed him to do though. But if he retells how he hunted down Don Kreig’s whole pirate fleet because they awoke him from his nap, he can’t have you try to slap him and give him a lecture on how he’s a heartless murderer (bc he is a heartless murderer).

Mihawk is loyal, and it’s a given he would expect that back. No matter how long yall are apart, no one else should satisfy you in the ways a lover should because trust ain’t no one doing that for him.

Someone who loves food, he’s quite a good cook and frequents the Baratie. The Baratie is well accustomed to serving the two of you on your monthly date (oml I should write a blurb abt Sanji tryna make moves on you while Mihawk watches in amusement looking all smitten or smth lmao).

Mihawk would prefer his lover to have a calm rationale. If his lover starts freaking out and screaming over something inconvenient or starts harsh arguments over miscommunications the relationship is doomed to fail.

Someone that is a gossip lol. Read the news and try to theorize why Alabasta was featured twice and the first time it mentioned the Warlord Crocodile’s casino having a river around it bc it’s Alabasta and it hasn’t been raining there in months apparently. Some fun stuff like that haha.

Blackleg Sanji; Baratie Headcanons

Sanji spends a good deal of his free time in the kitchen even if he isn’t preparing meals or snacks. Sometimes he’ll take inventory over his food supplies thrice over in one sitting just to make sure he has everything the crew needs.

Sanji doesn’t smoke in the kitchen. He feels as though it is unprofessional, contaminates his materials and workspace, and hurts the atmosphere of the kitchen. Zeff taught him this because when he started to smoke the first time he did so in the kitchen Zeff caught him and smacked him red in front of the customers.

He started smoking because he wanted to seem like a man and impress Zeff (we know this) but it more so stems from him not wanting to be a helpless child and wanted control over himself which he was stripped of during his time at germa.

Sanji absolutely despised the taste of his cigarettes. He still does to some extent. But he when the nicotine filled his lungs it began to bring a sense of calm over him which helped him not have to deal with his trauma and anxiety.

Has smoked over two packs in a day multiple times before. It gets like this around his birthday. Zeff used to have to hide all cigarettes in the Baratie from Sanji.

Zeff gave Sanji his lighter because he wanted Sanji to look more professional and told him, ‘if you’re gonna smoke like a man, you need a man’s lighter.’

Tried cigars, it affected him much more than cigarettes and Zeff banned him from using them.

Wasn’t taught by any of the other cooks how to flirt, it came very natural for him. He absolutely crashes and burns if he gets flirted with back.

Has swooned a total of 4 girls in his years at the Baratie:

The first girl had only gone to chaste kisses and light caresses before the cooks found them in the bathroom.

The second was a little too tipsy and Sanji stopped anything from happening when she tried pressing herself all over him and grabbing him in the dining room.

The third one looked old enough to go to be his mother and gave him a blowjob before he freaked out and ran away from her before things escalated (he wasn’t ready and gets nightmares about it still).

The fourth girl was the first time he had ever properly touched a female but it was only some fingering and heavy making out before she pushed him off of her, thanked him for passing time with her, and walked out.

Is well acquainted with the Baratie regulars. Has spoken to Mihawk a good amount of times, knows the type of wine he requests. Gets freaked out by his sharp stare when he turns his back to him though. (Mihawk IS a regular.)

Has gotten into multiple cook offs with the other chefs, but always loses according to Zeff (Zeff’s the final judge).

The curl of his eyebrow forms a little heart inside of the big swirl. Tried shaving off the curl of his eyebrow but it grows back that way. Patty told him to stop trying to get rid of it so he did.

Zeff has added some of Sanji’s dishes to the regular menu, Sanji cries each time he sees the newest addition. Zeff never acknowledges it.

When he was being taught how to fight by Zeff, his perfect practice often became troublesome customers. Zeff encouraged it so much which is why up till he left Sanji was the most likely to get into a fight with customers.

Has scammed a good amount of berri from some of the marines that visit if we’re being honest. If he doesn’t like their attitude, he will up their bill significantly. Has gotten called out on this multiple times. Denies it every time.

Zeff bought him his first suit and taught him how to tie a tie. Wore the suit more than a chef’s uniform and apron, never bought him another suit. (Sanji’s obsession with suits got even worse).

Called Zeff dad a handful of times. Each time he would stop and look away for a long second before walking off. He usually went to a spot to cry. It stunned Zeff at first, but then the last couple of times it happened Zeff followed and sat with Sanji until he stopped crying.

Sanji hasn’t told Zeff about his past. The most he mentioned was his mother. Zeff often wonders what happened for a kid to be so traumatized.

Sanji would have nightmares and wake up either screaming or crying when the Baratie first opened up. Zeff would always have to sit by his bedding until he calmed down. Sanji would cry more if any of the other chefs came in.

Has spent so much time on sea that he walks diagonally for a hot minute when he gets on land. Would stumble a lot more on land if his legs weren’t so strong. Has very good sea legs, practically born with them.

French is his mother tongue and it’s the native language of Germa. He was taught English because it’s the most common language among the four blue seas but he had a thick accent when he was young. Zeff couldn’t understand him sometimes when he spoke.

Sanji often refers to food by their French name.

Sanji almost got completely rid of his accent because he felt as though it tied him to Germa. It comes out when’s he aroused or angry though. One time a girl said his French sounded sexy, but he’s on the fence when he’s flirting or trying to dirty talk to let his natural voice and accent come out, sometimes speaking full sentences in French. Regardless, it annoys the shit out of Zeff.

Nico Robin + Franky; Duo Headcanons

Slow burn. Franky gets flustered when he thinks about how he likes Robin so he doesn’t bring it up. Robin knows, Robin feels the same way but doesn’t get the same type of ‘freeze’ flustered as he does. She’s waiting for him to confess first because Franky feels like it’s the most manly thing for him to do.

Franky builds Robin furniture for her to lounge in periodically. He also upgrades her chairs with modifications to make it more comfortable for her like adding a moving arm that brings forward her drink, etc.

Robin has gotten Franky to read a couple of books and they chat at least a couple times a week about it.

Franky is Robin’s #1 hype man when it comes to fashion or fighting. (Sanji’s in second place and not too far behind though.) Franky has a habit of building a set of stairs extremely quickly during battles for Robin to get around if she’s in heels.

If Franky is tinkering sometimes Robin will sit in his shop with him to keep him company if she doesn’t want to be out on the deck anymore. If the weather isn’t appropriate, she reads in his workshop.

Robin likes all the different hairstyles that Franky is able to with his hair but she prefers it to be the same style as when they met.

Robin is perched on Franky’s huge shoulders more often than you would think. Franky likes carrying her if the crew is traveling afoot and she doesn’t mind.

When Sanji asks her for her daily mid afternoon snack, whatever she requests is usually paired up with a cola for Franky.

Robin helps Franky with his robotic parts when he needs to upgrade or replace them with her devil fruit.

Franky’s words at Enies Lobby make Robin feel good and grateful about life; sometimes when she’s losing her motivation she recalls what he said to her.

She also commonly goes to him and soaks up his vibrant energy to feel better.

Robin likes cats, Franky has made her a cyborg cat that lives in the library below deck.

On occasion Robin will paint Franky’s metal nails with her nail polish.

Franky helps Robin with scribing all her knowledge into journals and books. She has a photographic memory and a vast collection of schema- she remembers a great deal about the books that were burned on Ohara.

Franky has been caught by multiple Straw Hats staring at Robin on deck. He doesn’t ever deny anything, he just blushes, says something stupid, and leaves as quickly as he can.

Franky has given Robin multiple massages with his little hands before. It clams her immensely and it’s a trusting, intimate act between the two of them.

Black Leg Sanji; Strawhat Headcanons

Genuinely gets annoyed to no end with Luffy when he tries to sneak food from the pantries.

Has kicked Brooke, Chopper, and Luffy out of the kitchen when he cooks multiple times on separate occasions.

Is slightly uncomfortable around Zoro because of how confident Zoro is in his own masculinity. This is a big reason why Sanji instigates fights with him.

Has been offered a massage by Robin before but got so flustered he had to decline.

Has written down all of the Strawhat’s food allergies as well as their likes and dislikes.

Genuinely spends most of his day in the kitchen. He preps meals up to hours in advance and is always considerate enough to make daily snacks for the crew. He also goes into the kitchen to be alone if he needs the space. It’s his safe spot.

Has gotten into multiple long winded discussions with Chopper about his health and overworking tendencies but he always brushes it off. It exasperates Chopper.

Along with Usopp, is the primary caretaker of Nami’s tangerines and Robin’s flower bed.

Sanji frequently makes Usopp a type of pastry from Syrup Village. Usopp mentioned how he was homesick and missed some normalcy in the early days of the Strawhats with the Going Merry. Usopp cried when Sanji presented the pastry to him.

In the kitchen there’s a special cupboard just for Zoro’s sake. Sanji is the only one that can mess with it other than Zoro. Sanji makes passive aggressive comments when he notices the bottles dwindling in quantity.

During meal time, Sanji makes a point to deliver all the Strawhat’s their portion before getting his own. Often he’ll wait until they have had their seconds as well before plating what’s left for himself.

Has a couple copies of the All Blue in his locker. One is in pristine condition. Another has multiple annotations made throughout it. Another has sketches of the type of fish he would imagine there, some from the other Blue seas and some that haven’t been discovered yet.

When Chopper first joined, Sanji was rather serious about him being back up food in the worst case scenario. He thinks quite differently now.

Sometimes when he sees Zoro’s hair in passing or through the corner of his eye, Sanji will instinctively tense up. With time it hasn’t bothered him as much, but especially at night it’s hard to distinguish the mint of Zoro’s hair and not the grass of Yonji’s hair.

His grocery list always includes Cola. Everytime. Without fail. Franky goes through Cola like water.

Has multiple cook books. He usually buys a local cook book at every major town or city they dock at.

Has a notebook with recipes and foods that the crew enjoy from their hometowns. Has another notebook filled with new dishes he wants to try making.

Has had a fair amount of conversations with Jimbei over fishmen diet and eating habits. Is particularly interested in the range of food that different breeds of fishmen consume.

Gets irritated with Brooke’s panty obsession when he acts creepy towards women, especially Robin and Nami.

Is one of the hair stylists of the Strawhats. (I’m pretty sure it was included in an sbs somewhere that he, Robin, and Brooke cut the Strawhats’ hair..)

When things get worse for him mentally, he won’t leave the kitchen for a concerning amount of time. One time it was like this and Chopper walked in to try and talk to Sanji he almost fainted from how pungent the cigarette smell was.

Has fallen asleep in the kitchen a generous amount. Either Usopp or Franky generally shake him awake to find half of his face red from the dinner table’s indentions.

Is disgusted at how little some of the men on the crew bathe sometimes. (Cough cough Zoro..Luffy…)

Likes to go perfume and cologne shopping with Robin and Nami. He probably gets more excited than they do, or at least does a worse job at hiding his excitement than them.

His heart swells when Luffy praises his cooking skills. It swells when anyone praises him, but Luffy’s words always resonate in Sanji’s mind just a little longer than the other’s do.

Didn’t know how to act around Zoro when he first joined the crew. Zoro’s demeanor was such a different pace than the men he was used to and if he was being honest with himself Sanji still doesn’t fully know how to act around him.

Has frequent talks with Usopp and Robin about the All Blue. They listen to his words the most out of the crew members when he mentions it.

Gets nightmares very often. Normally he’s silent enough that the other guys don’t wake up, but Zoro has caught him sniffling with tears down his cheeks a rare few times. Zoro doesn’t bring it to the cook’s attention. When he wakes up from a nightmare, he usually ends up back in the kitchen prepping breakfast.

Monkey D Luffy; Windmill Village Headcanons pt1

Didn’t have a permanent home. There was always a cycle of adults that would look after him but even then he was left unsupervised a lot. Would go weeks sleeping in the back of Makino’s bar or in the guest bedroom of the town mayor, whoever was the least busy at the time often would try to care for him.

Got a lot of free food from the town market. He never had any berri to pay them, and they were kind enough to spare a few apples.

No one in the village knows his mother nor his father. He just kind of..sprung up one day thanks to garp. (Garp doesn’t talk about dragon much and didn’t really make it clear that dragon was the father).

Worked a couple odd jobs, mainly cleaning and house work based. Earned a little bit of berri, but spent it immediately on food. Also always did a horrible job at whatever he was supposed to do.

There is a village school and the teacher there taught him how to read and write. There were hardly any children so on the rare days Luffy did attend he was given a good amount of attention.

Horrible academic learner. Could not care less. When it would get boring he would either cause a scene, leave, or take a nap. Went to school sometimes just to sleep peacefully.

His narcolepsy has left him waking up in some unusual places. Mainly because if he’s sleeping on the ground a villager commonly would take him and put him somewhere safe, the school or Makino’s.

His clothes are often given to him by the elder village members. Remnants of their children’s clothing that are still in tact. Luffy always does a little excited shuffle when he receives a new shirt.

Boasted about his scar under his eye when it properly healed to everyone. Every village member has heard the story of what happened three times over even if they stop entertaining him, he keeps talking.

Garp would sometimes go years without visiting. Luffy did miss him at first, before he began to associate Garp with pain and unhappiness and marine life.

Had very eccentric mood swings and sometimes only Makino would seem to understand what he was feeling. After a really bad night where he came screaming into Party’s Bar, Makino had comforted him until he felt better. He began to go to the bar when he would feel bad afterwards. (Either that or the forest yk)

Got into lots of brawls with mountain bandits. A lot of times no one would be there to help him during the tussles, he would come sniffling back to the village in search of first aid. Has gotten multiple talkings about not fighting, still continues to fight.

Usopp and Kaya; Childhood Headcanons

Usopp lives in the poorer, middle area of town while Kaya lives on the outskirts of Syrup Village. Because of this, Usopp would run an extra 10ish minutes everyday to get to her part of town to announce his daily pirate spotting.

Usopp didn’t tell anyone else in the village about how his mother’s passing affected him, but he told Kaya. It was the first time that he cried in front of her and she pulled him into her embrace through the window.

Usopp has tried multiple times to climb into the mansion only to be swatted away by Kaya’s staff. He’s only allowed in if Kaya explicitly states it.

Kaya was the only villager that gave Usopp any birthday presents. They were normally rustic nicknacks that were actually really expensive.

Kaya was Usopp’s only friend and Usopp was Kaya’s only friend for a very, very long time.

Usopp began crushing on Kaya first. It finally struck him as soon as he started feeling different when he would hear Kaya laugh at his stories. His belly would turn, his face would get hit, and his palms would get sticky.

Usopp has spent a total of 15 nights in Kaya’s mansion over their childhood years. Every time there would be a huge feast and Usopp would see more food then than he would for the next 6 months.

Usopp would daydream about Kaya often and create lists of stories to tell her in advance to pass the time.

Kaya had some of her staff start trimming the branches of the tree by her window very meticulously when Usopp began sitting up there.

Kaya was homeschooled, Usopp had free public education by the village’s librarian. Kaya would often teach him some academics and she accidentally got him obsessed with the idea of slingshots and engineering/mechanics.

Usopp never really liked Kaya’s staff because without her presence there they would treat as lesser than and it made him insecure. He brought it to her attention maybe twice before he saw how upset that made her because she loved her staff. She started staying by him more closely when they would stay at her mansion a little while after that.

Kaya actually developed a fear of the sea because although her parents’ health had been declining since Kuro had began working for them, they went on a sea trip and died while out on their voyage.

Because of her fear, Kaya never actually wanted Usopp to leave no matter how much he talked about sailing. She promised to herself to never try and hold him back though.

Kaya started liking Usopp only a year or two before he left with the Straw Hats. It was after puberty had matured them and she realized how attractive he was. (She already knew he had the personality, it’s Usopp he’s the best)

Kaya would tell Usopp about all the nightmares that she had, and Usopp would turn them into stories so they wouldn’t frighten her anymore.

Roronoa Zoro; Pre Timeskip Headcanons

Zoro’s father developed his love for swords training as early as Zoro can remember. His father didn’t teach him three sword style though.

Zoro’s father was a man that would travel for long periods before coming home to Shimotsuki Village (wandering is in the roronoa genes)

Zoro’s mother would comb Zoro’s hair with her fingers and it lulled Zoro into sleep instantly. He hasn’t had someone do that to him since she died but every time someone ends up putting their hand on his head for whatever reason, he starts to get droopy.

The first time he saw someone die was pirates attacking his village before his father fell in battle. Zoro remembers the anger and pain he felt when he saw his father get slain. The puddle of blood that dripped from him ran Zoro’s blood cold and he’s still not sure if it ever warmed back up.

His mother died of illness, but it was really heartbreak. Zoro could tell. Zoro didn’t want to watch anything like that again, someone deteriorating. It was the worst way to die to him.

After his mother died he went to the next village over. He did this to start anew and with a purpose for living; he didn’t want to waste away and die a nobody like his parents.

Kuina only practiced one sword style, but her father helped Zoro train in three sword style.

Zoro at first couldn’t hold a sword in his mouth, and ended up with a chipped tooth and a fractured jaw the first time he tried to fight Kuina legitimately with three sword style.

He got scolded by Kuina a lot after she would win their duels about his form and tactics.

Kuina was the first female friend Zoro ever had, and her proud nature ended up making Zoro a little nervous of all girls. (Bro blushes a lot even if he doesn’t mean to/doesnt feel anything)

Kuina’s death reminded him too much of his parents. He could save them, and he couldn’t save her.

When Kuina died Zoro went through a period where he couldn’t get through a training session without crying. One time it got so bad he ended up passing out and woke up 2 days later with the Master staring down at him worriedly.

From that point Zoro stopped crying and focused directly on improving his swordsmanship.

When Zoro left his village, he was actually chasing after a pirate that was threatening the town. He actually wasn’t ready to leave just yet on his search for Mihawk. He literally had traveled so far away he couldn’t find his way back.

As Zoro picked up the bounty hunter gig to earn some money and rest stops, he had no idea where Mihawk was. He was searching for him rather loosely. He would hear whispers and rumors, but still ended up as a bounty hunter for over two years.

He didn’t actually know that he had a reputation until he joined the Straw Hats. He knew that people feared him but he wasn’t aware of his title ‘Pirate Hunter’ because to himself he wasn’t a ‘pirate Hunter’ . Same goes for the ‘Demon of the East Blue’ name.

Zoro would either go long periods of talking to himself or not talking at all when he was a bounty hunter. He was isolated heavily during his travel.

Learned how to make food as a bounty hunter, a young boy he had saved from a pirate showed him how to cook some basics and start a fire.

Got his earrings at a gambling hub he walked into during his early days of traveling. They were actually a shit load of berri but the lady behind the counter said she would give them up for free if Zoro did some personal favors for her. He put his bag of all his berri on the counter stone faced after she said that. He got the earrings. She threw him out. He has never taken them out since.

Has been told by numerous broads that he’s a good looking guy, but always denied their advances. He wasn’t interested in sexual relations.

He only had sex once, and it was to a woman with fingers so cold he would flinch away. He was real drunk and she was a server at the bar he was in. He doesn’t remember anything other than the feel of her cold fingers in his hair and how a trail of crisp goosebumps followed her hands down his chest. (He doesn’t remember what she looked like, and he stopped trying to remember what fully happened pretty quickly)

Monkey D Luffy; Windmill Village Headcanons pt2 (ft. Red Hair Pirates)

Asked Shanks daily to join his crew as soon as he saw him without exception. Shanks always said no and Luffy would always be butthurt for the next 5 minutes until he focused on something else.

When he first encountered Monster (the monkey on Shank’s crew), Monster attacked Luffy. Monster lept down from the Red Force from atop Bonk Punch’s shoulders and landed straight onto Luffy. Yassop had to pull Monster off of him. To this day no one knows why Monster attacked Luffy and he hasn’t done it since but the two of them make faces at each other every time they see each other.

Yassop tried telling Luffy about how much he reminded him of his own son, but Luffy was never interested. Yassop tried to convey the message that it was okay to take things slow and live for a bit before becoming a pirate, which is what he planned for his own son Usopp. Yassop stopped bringing up Usopp when Luffy chimed something like, “I’m not your son stop saying things like that, you’re just saying that because you haven’t actually seen him in years!”

Luffy would have meat eating competitions with Lucky Roux. Luffy lost every single competition.

Luffy has drank Shank’s alcohol before on accident and has ended up puking outside the bar with Makino at his side. Shanks would freak out until Makino put Luffy to bed for that night in the back of the bar.

Uta was obsessed with the scenes of the Goa Kingdom that could be her stage. Luffy has taken her so far in the mountains for the sake of ‘finding a good stage’ that they wouldn’t return for a couple days. When they went this far it usually ended up in them running away from mountain bandits.

The town mayor once made a comment about how Uta would be a great girlfriend for Luffy because of how much she could influence him to behave and she got so mad that she stormed off. Shanks tried talking to her about it and she just replied ‘Luffy’s too selfish to be a good boyfriend.’

Beckman showed Luffy how he shoots. He never let Luffy touch his gun though on the account of Luffy’s slippery hands and he said that Luffy would ‘sooner shoot his own foot off than hit a can target.’

When Lucky would see Luffy sulking in the bar he would give him a bite of his meat bones. Lucky’s payment for Luffy was Luffy taking out the trash of Party’s Bar and every time Luffy would yell about how Lucky tricked him.

Hongo has whacked him a couple times with his staff when Luffy acted up. Hongo also always applies soothing ointment to the spot that he hit and scolds Luffy for being so careless. He’s the one that stitched up Luffy’s under eye when he stabbed himself.

Nami; Pre Straw Hats Headcanons

Before Arlong -

Wasn’t that afraid of getting caught when she stole books and such from the village because Genzo never hurt her. The only thing he did was tell Bellamere, though that led to some rocky arguments.

Her hands had been stained with the scent of orange. The scent coats her whole body as if the fruit lives in her pores, but it’s especially noticeable on her hands from all the peeling she’s done.

Thought her and Nojiko were blood related until Bellemere revealed they weren’t by accident. It caused a really young Nami to have a meltdown.

Bellemere would always cut Nami’s hair because Nami insisted long hair was too much work. (Nami actually really likes long hair, she kept hers short because Nojiko kept hers short.)

Nojiko and Nami had a special tangerine tree out of all the ones in their field that they would go to and sit when one of them was mad at the other. The unspoken ritual was to wait there until the other came and they would talk it out.

Her love of maps and various islands sorta started with some stories that Bellemere would tell her and Nojiko. She thought the geography was so cool of the different places that Bellemere had been to.

She and Nojiko got a lot of free schooling from the village because everyone knew how tough their household financial situations were. Nami still has one really tattered book that has some of the first sentences that she wrote. (There’s also two letters in there for Nojiko and Bellemere that she wrote but never showed them.)

Wore Nojiko’s shoes when she grew out of them, but they were always a little too big on Nami.

When Bellemere would tell stories of her Marine days, Nami would always think about how cool it would be to become one bc it would help her with her dream of drawing a map of the world.

Sees Genzo as a father figure because she never had one. When her and Bellemere would have bad arguments about her stealing, Nami would always go to him for comfort.

Bellemere once said that Nami’s freckles were like her own personal tangerine forest and she still thinks about that moment periodically.

Talked with Nojiko about exploring the seas when they got older but Nojiko always had this disinterest about travel that Nami didn’t quite understand yet.

During Arlong -

Was terrified of guns for a long time after watching Bellemere die. Would have nightmares of the encounter currently and developed insomnia and other bad sleeping habits. (To this day does not sleep straight for more than two hours at a time.)

Developed a fear of fish men that she still has currently. Her body will just stiffen on its own accord around fish men, specifically male fish men. Shes gotten better around jimbei but sometimes he startles her and she’ll become anxious.

When she first tried to visit Cocoyashi village and showed them the money she was able to get, a lot of the villagers were more angry at her than anything else. Nojiko was the most active about it though, and Nami would avoid the village because Nojiko would chase her off when she was able to.

Has permanent callouses lining her palms and fingers from drawing maps for so long without rest. The pain was so bad it caused swelling and she has permanent damage in her hands’ ligaments and muscles. She gets reoccurring cramps that paralyze her hand if she doesn’t stretch it and drink enough water.

When she would leave the island on whatever task Arlong assigned her, she would try to pretend she was there of her own will and have fun. It didn’t work that well because she could never block Cocoyashi village out of her mind.

When she first stole from pirates, she got slashed by a knife on her arm. The injury instilled a fear in her and taught her how to steal without getting noticed.

Was starved for long amounts of time and often would hallucinate the taste of tangerines when she was hungry.

She first cut her hair by herself because it got too long and she couldn’t take care of it properly in her living conditions it was so choppy that some of the fishmen made remarks about it. It encouraged her to start stealing from Arlong’s crewmates to add to her personal berri collection.

Cried herself to sleep numerous times mourning the relationship she used to have with Nojiko.

Envisioned telling the villagers of Cocoyashi of their new freedom when she bought the village back but she never knew if they would be happy and forgive her or not.

Started talking to the sea waves she could see from her window in Arlong’s tower and often would ask Bellemere for advice or tell her how much she missed her.

Her love for children grew during her time as Arlong’s slave. At first she was indifferent to them, but began to wish to protect every child she saw as she was being mistreated.
