I think Light should have just taken the opportunity and kissed L while he was dying since he was holding him in his arms anyway. Excuse it as some poor attempt at CPR out of panic and desperation. It'd make him look even less like Kira to everyone present. It's a win-win.

I can see L watching Light sleep and when he wakes up startled, he’ll claim that it’s his guilty conscience of being Kira. Then Light is like— "wtf no ppl just don’t like to be creeped on?!!"
