I never see anyone make Game of Dice cc before! So freaking cute! Game of dice is basically an anime version of monopoly. You can play it on mobile. It's a super fun and cute game but I stopped playing cause after a certain point (when you start playing with the big bois) you really need to invest in high quality dice in order to have dice control (dice rolls are random but you can buy lucky dice that gives you better rolls). And I just didn't have the moolah to invest into this game. Like if you have no life you can play diligently and save up naturally through daily gameplay, but not everyone has the time to grind and earn dice naturally. This game is pretty popular in Asia, not so much in America if you try to do a google search you can barely find any pictures or info on it. I never participated in large scale tournaments, but I really love this game. It's been so many years!

Hey @mysandwichranaway guess what, I know what Ling's jacket is. Just had to find an old enough book I guess??
tl;dr it's a Balenciaga camo hoodie
...sorta.
It's a Manchu military archer jacket. But like, for casual wear reasons.
(Looks like the V&A museum never bothered to take a better photo than this, but description says in item is actually sky blue, with red and white additions. Which is a... choice. The circle is military insignia.) Okay, so, basically, the Qing dynasty was suuuuper proud of not being like These Han Losers ok. They were warriors! Nomads! Horse riding archers!
They wanted everything close cropped and with side cuts for mobility, no fancy billowing sleeves allowed because you could not very well draw a bow like that.
(Here seen on Emperor Qianlong and his entourage resting during/after a hunt, because the dude sure wanted his hunting prowess known. Also note the leg wraps and shoes on his people uwu) Anyway, even when you were not fighting/hunting from horse back, looks like it was v much the style to flaunt your roots and wear 'military-cut' clothing, except the fabrics got flimsier and more decorative.
"[...] In addition, a short jacket was also worn for travelling. This was so short thati t did not even reach the waist and had sleeves barely covering the elbows, so it was used for riding and was therefore called the “riding jacket”. In the early years of the Qing Dynasty it was worn by soldiers and used to be called the “victory jacket”. But later any civilian, man or woman, was also allowed to wear it in peace time so that it became a kind of casual garment. [...] Riding jackets were of different kinds, the highest class being the yellow riding jacket, worn only by special favour of the emperor. With regard to the styles, there were the big lapel jacket, the mid-front opening jacket and the lapel-less jacket. The first kind was usually for casual wear and was worn on top of a robe. The second was for formal occasions while the third, also called the “lute shaped lapel jacket”, was made according to the style of the lapel-less robe and was also used for travelling.
As to the quality of the materials, apart from fabrics such as silk and satin, there were also some that were made of skins of wild animals. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, some people — chiefly prominent officials and aristocrats — wore the jacket inside out."

Cultural Annotations on New Gods: Yang Jian -Part 1-
This is the companion piece to my long-ass thread about the same topic on twitter.
Light Chaser really outdid themselves with the visuals and research this time, and with Yang Jian out in NA theaters, it's totally worth seeing on the big screen.
There were so many historical references packed into this movie, I thought I'd do a deep dive into the characters, motifs and lore associated with Investiture of the Gods scene by scene.
Background
Yang Jian is the second instalment of the New Gods series of animated films (after Nezha Reborn), that are loosely based on the 16th-century Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods (IOTG). IOTG shares some canon with other Chinese classics like Journey to the West, Classic of Mountains and Seas, Lotus Lantern etc. so there may be crossovers.
The character Yang Jian, better known as the god Erlang Shen, is a figure widely regarded as heaven's greatest warrior deity. He is recognized for having a third truth-seeing eye, and in IOTG, helped bring about the fall of the Shang Dynasty in 1046 BC.
The movie however, takes place during the Wei, Jin and Northern and Southern dynasties circa 5th century AD, some 1500 years after events of IOTG. We first meet Yang Jian as a rather lethargic but free-spirited individual, 12 years after losing his powers during a great disaster involving the three realms, scraping by as a bounty hunter.
A rough timeline
c. 1075-1066 BC: Yang Jian is born
c. 1060-1050 BC: Yang Jian cleaves Peach Mountain
1046 BC: Battle of Muye (Conclusion of Investiture of the Gods)
c. 9 BC-23 AD: Erlang Shen defeats Sun Wukong (Journey to the West, Chapter 7 - Havoc in Heaven)
c. 405 AD: Disaster of the Three Realms; Yang Chan is trapped under Mount Hua
c. 417 AD: New Gods: Yang Jian
c. 1920s - c. 1930s: Nezha Reborn
Breakdown
Yang Jian’s crew all have backstories. In Journey to the West, Kang Anyu (康安裕) and Yao Gonglin (姚公麟) are two of Erlang Shen’s six brothers of Plum Mountain, both supreme government officials in charge of military affairs. Maybe we’ll get to find out about the other four’s whereabouts in later instalments?
Xiaotian is Erlang’s dog sidekick who helps him subdue evil spirits and never leaves his side. The movie’s version of Xiaotian seems to be inspired by ancient paintings depicting her as a white hound.
The wanted bulletin printer seems to be inspired by a Hu Shi Ren You (虎噬人卣), a tiger-shaped Ancient Chinese wine vessel.
In Chinese mythology, Penglai is a legendary island for immortals. It has been reimagined to be the equivalent of the CBD of the divine realm.
The dice used in the casino are 18-sided Xing Jiu Ling (行酒令) from the Han Dynasty. It has the numbers 1 to 16, along with the characters for "wine" and "arrogance" engraved in gold and silver. The rat is the first animal of the Chinese Zodiac.
Shunfeng’er (顺风耳), who now goes by Old Gao and works at the casino, was usually accompanied by Qianliyan (千里眼). They are two temple guards whose names translate to “all-hearing” and “all-seeing” that could hear and see things from thousands of miles away.
Light Chaser is serious about its monkey business. The way casino monkey grabbed Yang Jian’s tally with his foot, the big ape miming and even in Nezha Reborn where the little monkey imitated Yunxiang.
Fun fact: The monkey is voiced by Yang Tianxiang, the same actor who voiced Li Yunxiang (Nezha) in Nezha Reborn.
Refresher - Primordial Spirit, known in Chinese as yuanshen (元神), is is a concept in Daoism defined to be a level of existence surpassing that of physical existence. In the New Gods universe, they manifest as giant glowing avatars.
New Gods also has a recurring theme of lost Astras - In Nezha Reborn, Wukong’s staff is nowhere to be found and Yunxiang has only recovered Nezha’s Sky Ribbon so far. Among Erlang Shen’s many Astras, three are mentioned in the movie.
Yang Jian’s headdress is designed to resemble his signature trident, the "three-pointed, double-edged lance". Hence when casino monkey asked him where his weapon was, he clinked the headdress.
This weapon was later shown in a flashback:
Another one of his Astras is a golden bow with silver bullets. According to the director, it was melted into his harmonica (although this was probably retconned as in the teaser for the sequel, it was his mother who gave it to him as a child). The harmonica not only has the powers of his bow, but is also the ignition key for his ship.
The third weapon featured is his mountain-cleaving axe (开山斧). It is the axe he used to split Peach Mountain in half to save Yaoji. He is shown wielding the same axe in the opening montage 1500 years earlier and it is currently wedged inside the Lotus Peak of Mount Hua from the events of 12 years ago. Needless to say it is a powerful Astra with earth-shattering capabilities.
The Four Diablo Brothers - Mo Lihong, Mo Liqing, Mo Lihai, and Mo Lishou - were initially antagonists in IOTG, having launched an attack on the Western Foothills. This led to the introduction of Yang Jian, who helped defeat the brothers.
By the conclusion of the novel, they were enshrined as the Four Heavenly Kings - Vaiśravaṇa, king of yakṣas (多闻天王; Duowen Tianwang), Virūḍhaka, king of kumbhāṇḍas (增长天王; Zengzhang Tianwang), Dhṛtarāṣṭra, king of gandharvas (持国天王; Chiguo Tianwang) and Virūpākṣa, king of nāgas (广目天王; Guangmu Tianwang). In the movie, only Mo Liqing was addressed by his title when Shen Gongbao met him inside the lighthouse.
There's a PSA on the noticeboard with a picture of Nezha pissing. It reads "no urinating or defecating here." This might be a piss (pun intended) at the 2019 animation Ne Zha from a rival studio, and its hilarious promo. The shade 💀
Further supporting my theory that White Snake and New Gods are from the same universe, Precious Jade from White Snake is recruiting!!! And medicine boy plugging his illegal business lol.
Jinxia Cave (金霞洞), lit. Gold Sunset Cave is Yuding’s HQ. It is located on Jade Spring Mountain in the Divine realm.
The little disciple playing the flute is a tribute to the 1963 ink animation “The Bamboo Flute” (牧笛) produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio.
Yuding is one of the many disciples of Yuanshi Tianzun, one of the highest deities of Daoism known as the Primeval Lord of Heaven. Yuding is ranked 10th among the “12 golden disciples”, and among his peers are Jiang Ziya (the main character of IOTG who led the battle against Shang), Taiyi Zhenren (Nezha’s master) and Shen Gongbao etc. They are all practitioners of Chan Daoism, also known as Kunlun Sect, founded by Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun.
In the tale of the Magic Lotus Lantern, Chenxiang was the son of Yang Chan AKA Goddess San Shengmu AKA the holy mother of Mount Hua AKA Erlang’s sister, and a mortal scholar named Liu Yanchang. This parallels the Yang siblings’ own origin story as the children of a goddess and a mortal.
Chenxiang literally means Agarwood. It is a revered wood valued for its use in incense and traditionally burned during meditation.
The place on Jade Spring Mountain where Yuding sealed the sect brother’s Dharmakaya (the embodiment of the truth itself, a transcendence of the physical and spiritual bodies) is based on the travertine pools in and around Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan. Notably, a scene from Journey to the West, a story associated with Erlang Shen, was once filmed at one of the waterfalls here. I’ve been here and yes, it looks exactly like this irl.

Li Na was not an ordinary woman. She was the best martial artist in the world, and the leader of the Dragon Clan, a secret society of warriors who protected the innocent from the evil forces of the Shadow Sect. She had mastered the ancient arts of kung fu, tai chi, and qi gong, and could wield any weapon with deadly precision. She was feared and respected by her enemies and allies alike.
But Li Na had a weakness. She was in love with Chen Wei, a humble doctor who worked at a local hospital. They had met by chance when Li Na was injured during a mission and Chen Wei treated her wounds. They fell in love and got married, despite the objections of Li Na's clan elders, who wanted her to marry someone from their own ranks. Li Na and Chen Wei were happy, and soon they were expecting their first child.
Li Na was overjoyed, but also worried. She knew that her pregnancy would make her vulnerable, and that the Shadow Sect would not hesitate to take advantage of her condition. She also knew that her child would inherit her martial skills and clan legacy, and that the Shadow Sect would stop at nothing to capture or kill her offspring. She decided to keep her pregnancy a secret from everyone, except for Chen Wei and her closest friend, Mei Ling, who was also a member of the Dragon Clan.
She continued to lead her clan and fight the Shadow Sect, hiding her growing belly under loose clothes and using her qi to mask her life force. She was determined to protect her family and her clan, no matter the cost. She hoped that she could give birth to her child in peace, and then resume her duties as the clan leader.
But her hopes were shattered when she received a message from Mei Ling. The Shadow Sect had somehow learned of her pregnancy, and had launched a surprise attack on her clan's headquarters. Mei Ling had managed to escape with a few survivors, but many of the clan members were killed or captured. Li Na was furious and heartbroken. She grabbed her sword and her coat, and told Chen Wei to stay at home and lock the doors. She kissed him goodbye, and promised to return soon.
She rushed to the clan's headquarters, which was a hidden temple in the outskirts of the city. She saw the smoke and flames rising from the temple, and heard the screams and clashes of weapons. She felt a surge of anger and pain in her chest, and also a kick in her belly. She ignored both, and charged into the temple, slashing and kicking her way through the Shadow Sect's minions. She reached the main hall, where she saw Mei Ling and the remaining clan members surrounded by the Shadow Sect's elite fighters. She also saw the leader of the Shadow Sect, a man named Zhao Yun, who was holding a bloody dagger in his hand.
"Li Na, you're too late," Zhao Yun said with a wicked smile. "I've already killed your clan elders, and taken their secrets. And now, I'm going to kill you and your unborn child. You see, I know who you are, and who your child will be. You are the descendant of the legendary Dragon Emperor, who ruled the world with his mighty dragon army. And your child will be the next Dragon Emperor, who will inherit his power and glory. But I won't let that happen. I will end your bloodline here and now, and take the dragon power for myself. I will be the new Dragon Emperor, and the world will bow to me!"
Li Na felt a chill in her spine, and a warmth in her womb. She realized that Zhao Yun was telling the truth. She was indeed the descendant of the Dragon Emperor, and her child was the next in line. She had always sensed a special connection with dragons, and had often dreamed of flying with them in the sky. She had never known the reason, until now. She looked at Zhao Yun, and saw the madness and greed in his eyes. She knew that he was a dangerous enemy, and that she had to stop him.
She drew her sword, and shouted to Mei Ling and the others. "Fight with me, my brothers and sisters! We are the Dragon Clan, and we will not surrender to the Shadow Sect! We will protect our leader, and our future emperor! We will fight for our honor, and our freedom! We will fight for our lives, and our love! We are the Dragon Clan, and we will never give up!"
She charged at Zhao Yun, who raised his dagger and met her attack. They clashed with a loud bang, and sparks flew from their weapons. They exchanged blows and parries, matching each other's speed and strength. Li Na felt her baby moving inside her, and felt a surge of energy and courage. She also felt a strange sensation, as if something was awakening within her. She saw a flash of scales and claws, and heard a roar in her ears. She realized that it was her dragon spirit, and that it was ready to manifest.
She unleashed her dragon spirit, and transformed into a giant dragon. She had scales of gold and red, eyes of fire, and wings of thunder. She breathed a blast of flame at Zhao Yun, who barely dodged it. He looked at her in shock and fear, and realized that he had underestimated her. He tried to stab her with his dagger, but she snapped it with her teeth. She grabbed him with her claws, and lifted him into the air. She looked at him with contempt, and said in a booming voice. "You are not worthy of the dragon power, Zhao Yun. You are a traitor and a murderer, and you will pay for your crimes. You will never be the Dragon Emperor, because you are nothing but a worm. And worms are food for dragons."
She opened her mouth, and bit him in half. She spat out his remains, and roared in triumph. She looked at the temple, and saw that the Shadow Sect's forces were fleeing in terror. She also saw that Mei Ling and the other clan members were cheering and bowing to her. She smiled, and landed on the ground. She reverted to her human form, and hugged Mei Ling and the others. She thanked them for their loyalty and bravery, and apologized for their losses. She told them that they were her family, and that she loved them. She also told them that she was proud of them, and that they had done well.
She then felt a sharp pain in her belly, and realized that it was time. She told Mei Ling and the others that she had to go, and that she would see them soon. She asked them to take care of the temple, and to prepare for the arrival of the new emperor. She then ran back to her home, where Chen Wei was waiting for her. She told him what had happened, and that she was ready to give birth. He was shocked and amazed, but also happy and excited. He helped her to their bedroom, and delivered their baby. It was a boy, and he was healthy and beautiful. He had Li Na's eyes, and Chen Wei's smile. He also had a birthmark on his chest, in the shape of a dragon.
Li Na and Chen Wei held their son, and kissed him. They named him Long, which means dragon. They looked at him with love and wonder, and felt a bond that was stronger than anything. They knew that he was special, and that he had a great destiny. They also knew that he was their miracle, and their joy. They vowed to protect him, and to raise him well.

ROUND 1 BRACKET LISTINGS
Welcome to Round 1 of the Wasted Woman Poll, the tournament to see which fridged woman deserved better!
Thank you everyone for your patience for Round 1 to begin. Now that the semester is over, I finished the list of match-ups for the Round 1 bracket.
There were 89 contestants for this tournament. Anyone familiar with tournaments knows that it doing a 89-contestant, single-elimination tournament would be annoying. Rather than cutting out 25 contestants to make it a 64-contestant tournament, I opted to use the format of a 64-contestant tournament, just with some of the poll in Round 1 (a majority of them, actually) being three-way polls with a single winner rather than solely two-way polls. So out of the 89 contestants going into Round 1, only 32 will go on to Round 2. Many of the listings in Round 1 will be characters from the same series going against each other, so that the future rounds will be more varied.
The tournament will be split into 4 sets of 8 polls each, with every poll running for a whole link. Below the cut will be the list of match-ups for each set and when the polls will premiere.
If there are any mistakes at all (spelling, if a character appears twice, if the media someone is listed under is incorrect, etc.) please let me know! I did double-check it, but I'm only human so errors do happen.
ROUND 1A (Will be queued to be posted on Tuesday, December 26th between 12 PM and 1 PM)

Maiya Hisau (Fate/Zero) vs. Four Masamune (Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam) vs. Safu (No. 6)

Seventh of Seventh · The Distance Between Two Shores
A rising autumn breeze passes through the empty palace hall. Duan Ling hurries through the gallery, the ends of his black robes fluttering in the breeze. His long hair is held in a low ponytail with a single black string, and his soft lips are ever so slightly pursed.
He walks past the swaying silhouettes of trees humming with the last of late summer cicadas, past the garden swirling with yellowing autumn leaves, past dusk adorned with crisp dark shadows cast by lantern light into the fresh night touched with the purple-red tinge of a dying sunset. Life is like a stage, and the curtains have fallen to reveal a sheet of sapphire silk studded with magnificent stars.
Dressed all in black, he seems almost to become one with the night. Slowly, he comes to a stop and stands before the White Tiger idol. Starlight shines down from the vaulted roof of the pavilion after reflecting off its angles. The Zhenshanhe has been placed horizontally on a sword stand, enshrined beneath the claws of the god that rules the autumn season.
This place is like the temple nearest the constellations, and every time Duan Ling stands beneath the white tiger’s gaze, he would feel as if he’s only one step away from the river of stars above. But it calmly blocks Duan Ling’s way as if there is a bustling heavenly realm behind its back, where mortals may not set foot.
“Dad.” Duan Ling walks forward, gently strokes the white tiger’s sharp canine, and puts his face against its ice-cold nose. He says, sounding enchanted, “Another year’s gone by.”
He lights three sticks of incense, and bows to the white tiger idol thrice. An autumn breeze sends the muslin curtains fluttering. The scent of sandalwood wafts through the air. Duan Ling climbs up the idol’s base, crawls into the white tiger’s outstretched, scouting paw, and leans back into its arm. He faces the star-studded firmament as though he’s being held by the white tiger, and in a daze, he lets his mind wander.
Lord White Tiger’s eyes reflect starlight, and its cool jade body gradually warms. Leaning back against the well-defined, powerful muscles of its chest, Duan Ling suddenly senses something.
“Who’s there?” Duan Ling can dimly notice a silhouette behind the muslin curtains.
Another gust of wind brings up the curtain, and a tall man walks into the shrine.
Duan Ling stares at him in shock.
The man has deep-set eyes like stars, with dark eyebrows and soft lips, and he’s dressed in an embroidered pale blue fighter’s robe. The clothes, however, are half foreign and half Han, with the left sleeve tied the way a warrior wears his sleeve, while the right sleeve is left hanging wide like a literati’s. The trajectory of the White Tiger constellation has been embroidered onto his open gown, with the major star done in silver thread, glittering with the same starlight that illuminates the sky.
He has on fighter’s boots decorated with a pattern of clouds, a silver pauldron on his left shoulder. A gem shaped like a water drop adorns his right wrist.
“Dad?” Duan Ling almost can’t believe his own eyes. This is his father, but not the father he knows well; this one is even younger than when Duan Ling met his father for the first time, as though he’s just past twenty. He’s handsome and fair, and there is not a sign of the turmoil and sternness that used to plague his eyes; in place of that is an innate graceful elegance.
Li Jianhong smiles, leaping onto the base of the white tiger idol, and leans against the tiger’s body. The white tiger suddenly starts to move, letting out a low growl, startling Duan Ling.
“How did you …” Staring at this whole get-up, Duan Ling feels a rush of pleasant surprise.
“Become so young?” Li Jianhong says. “Looks like my son’s all grown up though.”
Duan Ling finds it all incredible; he and Li Jianhong seem to be two young men similar in age, and next to each other, Li Jianhong barely looks much older than him at all.
“Even though you’ve grown up, and dad’s gotten younger, you still can’t call me gege.” Li Jianhong jokes, “You couldn’t have imagined what I looked like when I was younger, my son?”
There is nothing but astonishment in Duan Ling’s eyes, and the corner of his mouth keeps turning up for the smile he can’t hide. He picks up Li Jianhong’s hand and stares at the jade on his wrist. “What’s this?”
“Star jade,” Li Jianhong replies with a smile. “I need it to patrol the skies. Here, it’s all yours,” he says, taking it off for Duan Ling.
“I don’t want it,” Duan Ling looks blandly at him, having figured out the meaning behind his father’s frivolous smile. “What’s it good for? It’s not even as pretty as my jade arc.”
“It’s a star,” says Li Jianhong. “One of the many stars in the sky. It controls the fates of everyone in the mortal world. People are always saying, ‘if you want the stars from the sky I’d pluck them down for you’, this is what that means.”
“Dad, have you become a Daoist Immortal?” Duan Ling sounds amazed.
Li Jianhong’s robe flaps in the wind. He gives Duan Ling an enigmatic shh in reply and explains, “Tonight happens to be the Seventh of Seventh, so I came down while the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid are busy seeing each other. I’ll have to head back soon lest they find me out.”
“Will we ever see each other again?” Duan Ling can’t help himself; his voice grows thick with tears.
Li Jianhong calmly watches the tears in Duan Ling’s eyes, but he doesn’t answer. From his reading of the ancient tomes, Duan Ling has gleaned that the gods cannot enter the mortal world without cause, and they must not reveal the ineffable. But to be able to see him once more during this one lifetime already leaves Duan Ling without regrets.
“I see you every day,” Li Jianhong whispers. “I’m always here.”
He pulls Duan Ling to him, putting Duan Ling’s head on his shoulder. He says smilingly, “Do you not have anything else to say? Look how old you are already, and still such a crybaby.”
Duan Ling’s tearful expression turns into a smile. He studies Li Jianhong’s eyes and nose, and he thinks that he is still him; through all these years, Duan Ling has never forgotten every time he’d dreamt of him.
“I had a dream last month.” Duan Ling thinks of this and that, but doesn’t really know what he should say, and ends up saying, “I dreamt of you.”
“Yeah?” Li Jianhong takes off his outer robe and pulls it over them like a blanket as they stargaze together. “What was your dream about?”
Duan Ling pauses to think, but as he’s about to say more, Li Jianhong continues, “You’re like our great ancestor, and like Zhuangzi too — always sleeping and dreaming when you’ve got nothing better to do. One moment you’re turning into a butterfly, another you’re turning into a big fish … watch out you don’t end up getting stuck in your dreams and can’t wake up anymore.”
Duan Ling is smilng again. “Actually, if I can see you in my dreams all the time, I probably wouldn’t want to wake up.”
The two of them lean against each other the way two young men would. Whenever Li Yanqiu used to reminisce about his and Li Jianhong’s youth from time to time, Duan Ling would feel rather envious. Wouldn’t be nice if time can flow backwards so he can be around during his father’s younger days, to conquer the world at his side, or just to administer the realm for him?
But he never could have imagined that he would reunite with his father again under these particular circumstances. In the mortal world, people spend much of their time apart, and reunions are few and far between; it has always been thus. If he dillydallies much longer, his father may have to leave again before they manage to get much of a conversation going.
"In the dream, you took me along on a military campaign to the north to fight the Goryeo empire and the Mongolians. "Duan Ling recalls some details from his dreams, and everything seems so vivid it’s almost like it happened yesterday. He looks up again and says, “Lang Junxia was still alive, and he took me to his village as a guest. Chang Liujun was around too, also Zheng Yan and Wu Du. They were all by my side. Oh, and you gave me this huge lecture.”
Li Jianhong’s expression darkens. “Of course I’d have to lecture you. You follow Wu Du around all day long and don’t even want your dad anymore. Running off all the time doing lord knows what — what if you got lost?”
Duan Ling stares at him in shock.
“You knew?!” Duan Ling is stunned in an instant. “How did you know that?!”
“I don’t know.” The corner of Li Jianhong’s mouth twitches as he immediately washes his hands of the whole thing. “I seriously have no idea.”
“You knew!” Duan Ling grabs Li Jianhong’s sleeve and refuses to let go, arguing, “how else would you have known that I ran off with Wu Du?”
Li Jianhong can’t help but laugh out loud. “Where’s Wu Du? Call him over. It’s been ages since we had a drink together.”
“You two drank together?” Duan Ling sounds flabbergasted. “I never heard him say that.”
The more Li Jianhong says, the worse this gets; it’s his fault really that his own son is too smart, and he’s almost tricked into revealing a bunch of ineffable mysteries. He has no choice but to stop talking, just stares at Duan Ling and smiles.
“What are you smiling about?” Duan Ling frowns.
“There are lots of things I can’t say, so I can only smile. What else can I do?”
Looking at this father’s handsome smile, Duan Ling suddenly isn’t sure what he should say anymore. After a bit of thinking, he says, “So the one in my dreams really was you.”
Li Jianhong raises an eyebrow. He doesn’t refute Duan Ling, but he doesn’t admit to it either. He opens his hand, and in his palm is that star jade, its lustre incomparably gentle, with soft halos sparkling within.
“This is for you, a star from the sky,” Li Jianhong says.
Duan Ling touches it lightly with a finger, and the star jade blossoms with a bright but gentle glow, like he’s been placed in the centre of the Silver River. Its white light fills the space between sky and earth as the Silver River descends, and all at once, Duan Ling feels as though he’s in the middle of an ocean of light.
“Dad.” Duan Ling has a feeling that Li Jianhong is about to vanish in the middle of that ocean.
But Li Jianhong is smiling at him. “Come into my dream, my son.”
Duan Ling cries out, “Dad!”
But Li Jianhong has already become starlight, vanishing from Duan Ling’s side. In the midst of these brilliant rays, Duan Ling feels as though he’s become a lot smaller, all the way back to the time he reunited with his dad for the first time. Li Jianhong looks down at Duan Ling, his smiling eyes filled with tenderness. He reaches out and strokes Duan Ling’s head before turning into a gentle breeze, and on this holiday where girls pray to the stars for hands as nimble as the Weaving Maid’s, he scatters into the horizon.
Seventh of Seventh; the Silver River looks both clear and shallow; how vast can the distance between two shores ever be?
Duan Ling looks all around him. In this gentle dreamscape, the stars are fragments of light undulating on a river; on either shore of a crystalline river, they gaze at each other lovingly without a word.2

crack Lu au idea (from a very tired rae)
a Tokyo mew mew au
So like, basic premise:
the chain (who are at least mostly unrelated to/don’t know each other) becomes a Magical Girl team to fight the aliens/the monsters attacking the city (castle town?)
each of them gets animal dna from a creature from their respective games
the cafe is run by the goddesses time is a baker/manager while the boys switch between kitchen and server jobs (eight servers for one small cafe is a bit much I think)
The bois themselves are mostly in high school, with wind in middle and time being a Married Adult and is still Dad Age compared to the rest
Most direct character role swaps off the top of my head: - wind takes Bu-ling/pudding’s place looking after gran and Aryll - warriors takes zakuro’s place -hyrule takes retasu’s place and I’m not sure who would take ichigo and minto’s places
Everything would need to be adjusted to better fit the chain and their personalities. I don’t picture any romance aspected being involved since it would be a focus on team-as-family, and I don’t know if there would be any one “main character” since they would all deserve to have some spotlight (but wind is my favorite so knowing me it’d probably end up wind-centric)
it’s probably be demise/ganon behind the attacks, with the shadow in place of quiche. But it could also be fun to swap in other villain characters like griahim or Vaati. Maybe get spicy and do a villain redemption for some of them
Marsha’s character would be swapped for a fairy companion like Navi, Proxi, or Ciela. Like either a rotation/team of the fairy companions or a fully new one.
I’m not sure if the chain would have gone on their respective adventures before any of this, but I think it would be cool. No idea how to blend them all together without them knowing each other though. Maybe instead of different eras it’s different neighboring kingdoms/countries? Idk.
now for the animals for the bois: - twilight has his wolf form or ordon goat - legend has his rabbit form, but it would be fun to explore other options for him - sky would totally get remlit. While loftwing could be really cool, I think sky fits remlit much better. (Plus the loftwings can still exist in this au. I like them too much to just remove them) - wind’s games don’t have that many animals that aren’t sentient races, so that leaves pigs and kargarok. Kargarok I think would be best. For the angst potential and air connection - four would get minish. I know they’re a race and not an animal, but a sorta minish form is too good of an opportunity to pass up. Could add multiple tails to represent the colors like my in progress minish form design - similarly hyrule could get fairy, but if the Masha equivalent is a fairy that wouldn’t make much sense. I don’t know much about his games so I’m not sure what other options there are. - warriors is a similar issue. I don’t know what animals are in his games, though something like a horse might be interesting? A lion or peacock could be fun, but I really want to stick with in-game animals. - wild has a lot of animals to pick from. Though I’m leaning towards bear or deer. a bug or lizard might be cool too if there are any that fit with Wild’s personality. (I’m not including totk here because I haven’t played it yet and want as little spoiled as possible before I do) - time is giving me some trouble too. I haven’t played any of his games. Maybe something based on his masks? Like a great fairy or deku scrub? (Again with the sentient species vs regular animal problem that hyrule and four have) definitely should be something forest-related to tie back to the kokiri/growing up in a magic forest thing.
all of their weapons with either be their respective swords, or a unique one from each of their games
and that’s about it for now
#I came up it’s this while completely exhausted#So apologies if it’s hard to understand or anything#Any and all ideas for this are welcome#linked universe au#linked universe magical girl au#crack treated seriously#I thought the tumblr Lu people might like this#rae speaks#prompts for later rae#maybe

[Game of Dice] Joker Skills
*Originally made to post to my YouTube community as each week I put something about Game of Dice there. This is also posted here, to Tumblr, to archive it.
Almost every Joker character (character with a hidden skill) has their skill based on an existing skill. Some just exist on that Joker skill, not as a regular skill. I usually explain new Jokers' skills by saying the name of the existing skill rather than explain what the skill does, since it's easier to say the name of the skill. :)
Anyway here's a list of all the Jokers with what skill it's based on cause I love having random knowledge for this game. Even the ones not based on skills.

The Animal Spirit Warriors
This takes place after Lego Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born.
Chapter 1: Surprise
Ling took a minute to take in everything after hearing what happened. She gets sick for one day and call off of work to get well. She comes back and the first things she sees is MK holding a staff. But not just any staff, The Monkey King’s staff!
“So…I take that you are now The Monkey King’s successor now?” Ling said. She had long dark brown hair and yellow eyes. She was wearing a white shirt with a black long sleeve and blue jeans, with red, white and black shoes.
“Yep.” MK said, nodding. He was holding the staff in his hands.
“And not just that, he’s also the self-proclaimed Monkey Kid!” Mei said, excitedly. Ling narrowed her eyebrows.
“Really now.” Ling said. MK nods, grinning. Ling chuckles. “Well good job out there, buddy.” She said, going to ruffle MK’s hair playfully.
“I’m surprised you actually believed him.” Tang said.
“Of course. MK always freaks out when explaining things.” Ling said. “And I can tell by the tone of his voice that he has seen a lot.” She adds.
“Anyway. MK, just because you’re now the Monkey King’s successor and Monkey Kid, doesn’t mean you’re free from work.” Ling said. MK looked down at the ground, disappointed. Pigsy smiled at Ling, nodding.
“So, until you have to go train with The Monkey King, you got some noodles to deliver.” Ling said, pointing to the kart outside. MK sighed in defeated before walking out of the door of the noodle shop and getting in the kart.
After MK leaves, someone else comes in the noodle shop. A 20 year old girl came in. She had long brown hair and blue eyes. She wore a pink jacket and blue jeans with black and white shoes.
Ling recognizes this girl, it was her older sister, Jia Li. Ling is 19 years old, a year younger than Jia Li. These two have a strong bond with each other, even though Jia Li went off to travel the world. The two kept in touch with each other, with Jia Li showing Ling pictures of the places she went to.
“Hey, Jia Li.” Ling said with a smile on her face. Jia Li sees her and goes to hug her.
“Hey, Ling.” Jia Li said. She lets go of Ling. The younger sister looked at Jia Li. “I’m surprised you’re back.” Ling said, a little surprised.
“Yeah. I’ve thought about coming back here. I was getting a little homesick.” Jia Li explains, shyly.
“And you didn’t tell me because,” Ling was waiting for Jia Li’s answer.
“I wanted to surprise you.” Jia Li said. “Well, you succeeded in that.” Ling said, smiling.
“You don’t looked surprised.” Mei comments. “On the inside, I am.” Ling said.
“Anyway, yeah, wanted to come by and show you I’m back. I’m gonna go and find a place to stay at.” Jia Li said.
“You can stay at my place. I have a guest room.” Ling said.
“Okay. Thanks, Ling.” Jia Li said. She then heads out the shop.
Jia Li walked down the streets of the city. She had her hands in her pink jacket. She looked up and saw the blue sky. She then heard something; a scream. She ran to where the scream was coming from.
She gets to an alleyway and walked into it, looking around, being cautious. Jia Li hide behind a wall and peek one side her head out.
She sees a person who had red, fiery hair tied into a pony tail. He had small round glasses on, yellow eyes, with a scar on his face. He wore some red robe attire. He had black and purple shoes on as well.
He was in front of two people. Two pandas, one with blue eyes and one with pink eyes. They wore modern attires that consisted of their eye colors. Jia Li recognized these two; Prince Jun and Princess Lan, members of the Royal Panda Family.
“Now are you going to tell me where to find the stones of The Animal Spirit Warriors?” The redhead said with a sinister grin.
Lan just blew raspberries at him while Jun said, “You think we’ll tell you?! I’d rather die than give the stones up.” The redhead chuckles maliciously before flames came out of his hands.
“Then let me grant your wish then.” He said before running to the panda twins, who shut their eyes tightly as they braced themselves for the attack.
Suddenly, Jia Li ran in and kicked the redhead in the side. She then punches him in the stomach and sent him tumbling to the ground. The redhead coughs a bit before getting and seeing Jia Li telling the panda twins to get up and run.
“You! I’ll make you regret ever doing that to me!” The redhead shouted at Jia Li before his hands and hair caught on fire. Jia Li, Jun, and Lan ran off to get away from him.
The redhead laughed maniacally before running after them in full speed. Jia Li looks back and sees the redhead coming at her with a fist of fire. He came and was about to land a punch on her before he got pushed away by something that was gold.
Jia Li, Jun, and Lan kept running till they got to an alleyway and stopped to catch their breaths. “That was close.” Jia Li said.
“Yeah. Thanks for the help, miss…” Lan trails off. “Jia Li.” Jia Li said, smiling. “Well, thank you for saving us back there, Miss Jia Li.” Jun said.
“You are welcome, your highnesses.” Jia Li said. Lan and Jun chuckled. “No need to be so formal. “Lan” and “Jun” are fine.” Lan said. Jun nods.
“Oh. Um…okay.” Jia Li said. “So…did any of you noticed that golden thing that hit that red haired guy?” She adds.
“You mean Red Son? I did see something golden.” Jun said. “Also, you don’t know who Red Son is?!” Lan said, shocked by this.
“Um…no?” Jia Li replies. “He’s the son of one of The Monkey King’s, Sun Wukong’s enemies! Hello!” Lan said.
“Lan. What did we say about getting close to people’s faces?” Jun said, scolding her a bit. Lan groans and moves from Jia Li’s face.
“Anyway, the golden thing that hit him?” Jia Li said.
“Right. Who did that?” Lan asked.
A scream was heard along was a crash. “I did!” The panda twins and Jia Li looked to where the voice was.
A boy wearing a red bandanna over his head was holding a red and gold staff. He was on the ground, front first, groaning. He then gets up. “It was me. Sorry.” He said to the three.
Jia Li recognized him. “MK?” She said. MK looked at the brown haired girl.
“Oh. Jia Li.” MK said.
“You two know each other?” Lan asked.
“Yeah.” Jia Li said. “He’s my and my sister’s childhood friend, along with Mei.” She says. She the turns to MK, who was holding a red and gold staff.
“You-“
“Is that Monkey King’s staff?!” Lan said, starry eyed.
“Um. Yeah.” MK said, smiling nervously.
“So you’re the Monkey Kid?!” Lan said, smiling widely at him.
MK nods.
“OMG! I heard about what happened yesterday! The way you defeat The Demon Bull King and his family. How you found the staff. How you-“
Lan’s mouth gets covered up by Jun’s hand, her voice becoming muffled. Jun chuckles. “Thank you for saving us. But we have to go now.” He said.
“Where are you going?” Jia Li asked.
“We’re just gonna pick up our little sister from school.” Jun said. Lan was still talking, voice still muffled.
“Oh. Okay. Well, see ya!” Jia Li said.
“You too.” Jun said. He then walked away, dragging Lan while still covering her mouth.
Jia Li and MK then looked at each other. “So. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, huh?” Jia Li said.
“Yeah.” MK said. “But hey, you’re back!” He said.
“Uh-huh. And I think I probably have to leave very soon.” Jia Li said.
“Aw. Why? You just got back!” MK said.
“I know. But I’m only staying for 2 weeks. I plan on returning back to Australia.” Jia Li said.
“Oh. Have you…told Ling?” MK said.
“Not yet. I plan to when I get to the apartment.” Jia Li said.
“Okay….Anyway, I got some noodles to deliver.” MK said before going back to his cart. “I’ll talk to you later, Jia Li!” He said.
Jia Li waves goodbye to him and watches him drive off. She then sighed sadly before looking down at the ground.
She then heads to the apartment. Jia Li heads inside and looks at the living room and kitchen before going upstairs and going into the guest room.
She set her stuff down and looked out the window. Jia Li will look at the rest of the apartment later. Right now, she just wants to relax.
The brown haired girl laid down on her bed after putting her hands behind her head. She looked up at the ceiling, seeing the fan above her, not moving.
Jia Li sighed before sitting up. She then opened the front small pocket of the luggage and grabbed a picture out of it. She takes a look at it.
It was a picture of her and Ling when they were kids, above them where their parents. Their mom who had long brown hair and yellow eyes, wearing a light pink long sleeve dress. And their father who had short dark brown hair and blue eyes.
Jia Li and Ling’s parents were good friends with Pigsy and Tang, MK’s adoptive fathers, which explains how MK and the two sisters knew each other.
The sisters’ parents were killed in an accident that caused Ling to be traumatized by it. The two sisters were taken in by their uncle and aunt, who loved them and took care of them.
Jia Li sighed before putting the picture back in the small front pocket. She then laid back down on the bed before closing here eyes and falling into a deep sleep.
Rest of the story will be on AO3.

Yes. I'm stubborn. (...) It's not just the Five Lakes Alliance that worries me. Many different factions in Jianghu are now watching Cheng Ling. I just spoke to the waiter. I asked him if he saw any suspicious warriors. WOH Episode 8, Part 8. ZZS and WKX are still talking outside the inn. WKX explains that in life we should do what we want and asks why ZZS asks so many questions. Then WKX decides to ask ZZS something now. And asks why he's following ZCL. ZZS replies that he agrees with WKX and that he's stubborn. WKX says that he knows ZZS is worried about what awaits him in the Five Lakes Alliance and at the same time punches him in the arm, ZZS looks at WKX's hand, who continues to explain that he asked GX to keep an eye on him. He adds that they are cunning foxes and won't be lured so easily. ZZS makes it clear that it's not just the Five Lakes Alliance that worries him. He says that many different factions in Jianghu are watching ZCL. So ZZS talks to the waiter and asks him if he saw any suspicious warriors. ZZS adds that the waiter said he saw a whole group of them. After a moment of thought, WKX replies that they were picked up like officials on a trip out of town. ZZS looks at WKX carefully, but fails to notice that the distinctive lanterns have appeared in the sky. WKX looks up and is surprised to see that it's still light out, and why would anyone be releasing lanterns. ZZS looks up and is surprised, mentally deciding that Tian Chuang is on some mission nearby. He finally realizes that the men who were dressed as officials are Tian Chuang. ZZS loudly tells WKX that he'll go to the Yueyang Sect to check it out. Before he can do anything, however, they both hear GX's voice calling out to WKX as the master. The girl runs up to the two men and says that it's a good thing WKX didn't stray too far from the inn. WKX asks GX why she came back so quickly. GX isn't sure if she can say what she wants to say in front of ZZS and gives the sign to WKX. WKX replies that everything is fine and that she has to say it in front of ZZS. GX explains that she snuck into the Yueyang Sect. WKX replies that she did the right thing and asks how ZCL is doing. GX doesn't answer this question as he explains that he has something important to tell WKX. ZZS pretends not to care but listens carefully. GX says that GC wants to take ZCL to pay homage to the Five Lakes Monument and that he doesn't understand something here. It's getting dark already, what time is it to pay homage? ZZS listens to these revelations and starts running forward, not paying attention to anything. WKX runs after ZZS and tells GX to return to the sect. The surprised girl is left in the middle of the road. ZZS and WKX continue their conversation after leaving the inn, ZZS wanting to get rid of WKX so he can handle things on his own without the intruder. WKX is stubborn, like ZZS, so he asks ZZS why he's following the boy. ZZS gives a rather cautious explanation, not wanting to show that he cares about the boy, perhaps because ZZS himself was orphaned and needed someone who, like his master, would show him the way. WKX's attention to the lampposts makes ZZS realize that Prince Jin is interested in Glazed Armor, and that the people of Tian Chuang will go to great lengths to get what they want. When GX announces that GC is taking ZCL from a relatively safe place, ZZS knows he has to be nearby to see if anyone wants to harm the boy. So without a word of explanation, he runs to protect him. GJ and ZZH are able to perfectly reflect their characters' personalities in their scenes together, ZZS is calm and subdued, and WKX is more energetic and aggressive. Their acting takes this show to a whole other level and that's what makes it so enjoyable to watch.

also. not to request two prompts. but i just read your tag on the post so i want to give you something to live vicariously through: the chain playing d&d together
I had a very in character moment and wrote a thousand or more words for all the requests I've gotten so far. Instead of living vicariously this turned into torturing Four with my own pain. Do note that I do these in whatever order I want and other asks are on their way.
Title: To Kill A God
Words: 998
“Hey, just checking, you’re still good for Dnd on the fifth, right?” Four asked, their fingers and all but Legend’s name crossed. He’d resorted to actually calling people at this point so they’d respond.
“Wait, that’s on the fifth? I can’t, Ravio and I are going antiquing that night.”
One of the colors wouldn’t stop thinking ‘f’ and instead of letting Blue’s obscenities come out Four took a very deep breath. “Antiquing,” he repeated. “On Dnd night.”
“Yeah sorry, he’s only in town for so long,” Legend said, but he didn’t sound sorry at all. Four couldn’t believe it. This was like, the fourth time in a row they’d canceled, and it was because of antiquing? It was like nobody even cared what happened to the lich king!
“Plan on the twelfth then,” Four managed before hanging up. He chucked his phone at his bedspread and crumpled up the list.
***
“Hey Warriors, when did you say your leadership retreat was again?”
“Starts the Friday after next. The twelfth, I think?”
Four’s face dropped. “I hate you,” Blue said, but Red thought that was too mean and backtracked. “But like, not actually. I love you.” They frowned. “I just hate you right now,” Vio clarified.
“Sorry,” Warriors said, wincing.

Four demonstrated extreme maturity and did not rip up their session notes, but it was a very close thing.
***
“That’s okay, Sky, it would suck to lose your scholarship, you should definitely study,” Four said very very nicely, even though his insides were turning into lava. “How about the thirty first?” he said tightly.
“Isn’t that Sadie Hawkins?” Time said, and why Time knew that but not the correct way to eat cereal was beyond Four.
“School dances are the worst, Time,” Four said, gagging. “We have Dnd.”
“Wind’s totally gonna get asked though,” Legend said with a snicker, carting his brand new antique clock through his and Sky’s dorm room. “And he won’t say no.”
Four flipped him off.

“Finally, Dnd tonight!” Four shouted, practically bouncing down the school hallway with Wild on his heels. “You’re in charge of bringing food by the way.”
“Obviously,” Wild scoffed, rolling his eyes. Then he stopped. “Wait, tonight?”
Four’s gut went cold. “Yes tonight, where’ve you been?”
“But tonight’s Sadies!”
“And nobody is going! I asked, remember?”
“No, you asked if anybody got asked! Four, I did the asking!”
“It’s a girl’s choice, dipshit!”
“Well it’s not like a girl was gonna ask him!” Wild shouted back. His face went red and he added more quietly, “And maybe I was having more of a girl day anyway.”
Oh for Hylia’s sake, Four suddenly felt like a very strong competitor for Wild’s idiot title. Sure, Wild had been questioning for awhile, but this was the first time he’d said anything definitive about it. But couldn’t Wild have his highschool romance on a night that wasn’t dnd night? Four hid his face behind his AP Stats textbook and walked away.
“Hey, you can’t get mad at me for rebelling against gender norms, Four!” Wild called after him. “Gender is a social construct!”

Chapter summaries for The Spirit Stone
Per request, chapter summaries for my AtLA fic (here on AO3). At the moment, covering chapters 1-8 (which means spoilers for all of them).
As always, if you have any questions about this fic, please don’t hesitate to ask me! :)
Chapter 1 - Dead to the world
After Ozai changes Zuko's punishment from Agni Kai to imprisonment, Zuko spends three years locked in an underground prison. Ozai doesn't tell Zuko that he's been officially announced dead, and so he continues studying diligently in his prison, hoping to earn his freedom. Azula occasionally visits him and taunts him with the truth, which Zuko refuses to believe at first. Eventually he tries to escape twice, but on both occasions he gets caught and severely burned by his father as punishment (the first time Ozai holds Zuko's wrists and burns them as a 'warning', the second time Ozai burns his feet and as a result Zuko can't walk properly for six months).
Chapter 2 - Day of the black sun
The Gaang checks out the empty Royal Palace during the solar eclipse, and thanks to Toph they accidentally find Zuko, who was still hopelessly trapped in his prison. As they're about to leave, Zuko collapses and the Gaang decide to take him with them. They declare the invasion a failure, and the rest of their allies retreat to safety. The Gaang flies to a remote island for the night, where Zuko wakes up, utterly confused. The kids question Zuko, who lies about his identity and says his name is Ling.
Chapter 3 - A fresh burning start
The Gaang leaves to Jinzhu Island, where they're supposed to meet with the Order of the White Lotus and the Water Tribe warriors. However, neither the Gaang or Zuko trust each other, and Toph is the only one who wants to take Zuko with them. Zuko still pretends he's Ling, and refuses to talk to the others about anything. The Gaang (aside from Toph) still consider him suspicious, and don't want to tell the truth about where they're going. Before the Gaang releases Zuko, he realizes they're planning to attack the Fire Nation and burns all of their belongings to hinder their plans. The Gaang takes Zuko as a prisoner, and they decide to hand him over to the White Lotus.
Chapter 4 - Reunions and revelations
On their way to the White Lotus camp, Katara and Sokka reunite with Hakoda, Bato and some other Water Tribe members. The Gaang then meets Iroh and Master Piandao at the camp. The Water Tribe warriors bring a near catatonic Zuko to them, and his identity is revealed when Iroh sees him. Later, Iroh talks to Zuko about everything that happened after his disappearance, and reveals that Ozai had told Iroh that Zuko had committed suicide, while Iroh had suspected that Ozai had been responsible for his 'death'.
Chapter 5 - Fine, it's a deal
Allied forces at the White Lotus camp discuss their plans against the Fire Lord, and what to do now that they've discovered Zuko is alive. Toph goes to see Zuko and asks him to help them fight against his father. Afterwards, Iroh tells Zuko that he would be better suited to be the Avatar's firebending teacher, and they go to meet the Gaang together. Everyone is very uncomfortable with the situation, but a reluctant agreement is reached. The next morning, Aang and Zuko meet with Iroh to have their first firebending lesson.
Chapter 6 - Back to the world
A week after Zuko's release, he leaves from the White Lotus camp with the Gaang. Iroh tells Zuko that he and a few other Lotus members will meet them again on Shuhon Island. Before separating, the Gaang and the Water Tribe warriors have a meal together at the cove, where their ship is anchored. Katara and Hakoda successfully persuade Zuko to go and visit the ship healer (a waterbender from the North). After Zuko has met with the healer, the Gaang takes an overnight Appa flight to a secluded mountain range in Shuhon Island.
Chapter 7 - The sky and the emperor
Aang and Zuko start their firebending lessons, during which Toph tries to befriend Zuko, but he doesn't want to talk to anyone and snaps at her. Aang is still unable to create fire on his own, and Zuko says they could try practicing at night, since he's been firebending without sunlight for years. Aang and Zuko find a scenic place high up in the mountains, where they bond over the burden of being the Avatar and the future Fire Lord. Zuko suggests that Aang could try making a spark first, which leads to Aang finally creating his own fire. The other kids throw a dinner party in celebration, but Zuko gets upset at their probing questions and storms away. The next day, Aang finally manages to reach out to Zuko after a heavy, but cathartic conversation.
Chapter 8 - Updated world atlas
The rest of the Gaang starts bonding with Zuko, and he agrees to help Katara with food preparation and joins meals with the others. Sokka is planning on buying a new map of the Fire Nation (after Zuko had burned all their old ones), but then Zuko brings him a map of Shuhon Island that he made himself, which leads to the two of them having a proper conversation with each other for the first time. Toph is still hurt for being cast aside, but Zuko goes to apologize to her and she forgives him right away. After discussing with Zuko, Toph drags him and Sokka along with her for improvised combat training. During the training, Sokka discovers that Zuko is proficient at throwing knives, and asks Toph to create a space knife for Zuko out of her meteorite bracelet. The next day, Zuko joins Sokka's painting practice, and draws him a map of the South Pole. Zuko's map turns out to have outdated information, but that gives Sokka an idea about making a new world atlas together with Zuko.
#my fics#i hope these will be at least somewhat useful#meanwhile#i'm forever in pain over the fact that i can't write anything short and succinct#sighhh
