Its been a while since ive like.. updated the masterpost, but thats because ive been ironing out all the plot points in my au

soo heres like.. a quick summary of all the arcs and plotlines of the melyme au.. [also known and will be published as "love's failures" when i get around to writing it <3,] its also mostly lymantria-centric as a lot of the shit melon's doing within LF happen onscreen in the manga unless stated otherwse or when it gets to postcannon

It has started harmless enough with Dean gluing clown pictures to Sam's laptop screen, the inside of his wardrobe door, and the book he's currently reading. Sam took revenge by swapping out Dean's bacon with a vegan alternative, which he didn't realize until his 2 AM craving. (Castiel refused to break into the store in Lebanon to get him real bacon.) Everything has escalated so quickly after that, Castiel's head is still spinning. 

                             Highlights of their progressively aggravating pranks so far are Sam finding his bedroom full of helium-filled balloons (when he popped them, cornstarch and flour went everywhere), Dean drinking a beer spiced with blue pills (Jody visited them that day), Sam using a tampered shampoo that turned his hair bright pink, and Dean getting his shower gel tampered with in return. He can consider himself lucky he didn't use the soap on his face or head, or otherwise, those would be just as smooth and hairless as the rest of his body (Castiel has to take another look at this depilatory cream).

                             "Can't you two just stop?" he asks, sitting next to Dean on the bed. The hunter is furiously typing something into his laptop, either looking for a new prank inspiration or ordering something he needs for it. "Call it a draw. This is becoming ridiculous and more than immature."

A number of my problems with the writing in Ted Lasso come to down what I'm calling the assigned story problem: the main characters all have their own arcs and themes related to those arcs — which is a good thing — but those themes or messages are often undermined because they only seem to apply to that character.

The example I've probably seen talked about most often is with Jamie's accountability arc and how the writers are very inconsistent about applying those same ideas to other characters: Roy apologizes to Keeley and Nate apologizes to Colin, but Colin and Isaac don't apologize to Nate, Rebecca doesn't take responsibility for sending Jamie back to Manchester, and neither does Ted for bringing Jamie back to Richmond after promising Sam he wouldn't.

Similarly, in a supporting cast that includes a number of POC, Sam is the only one who has plotlines about racism and the experience of being a visible minority — when he has his outburst about being held to unreasonable standards by the fans, there's no opportunity for the other Black players (including Isaac, who he's talking to in that scene) to share their own, presumably similar, experiences. Speaking of Isaac, the fact that he's a Black man would affect how something like him climbing into the stands in 3x09 is perceived, just like the fact that they're South Asian would affect how Nate and Shandy navigate their own chosen professions — but while there are some moments you can read into, I never got the impression that this was something that the writers actively considered while writing their story arcs.
