Why Do Businesses Need Subject Matter Experts?
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are essential in driving business success across industries. They are professionals with in-depth knowledge, experience, and expertise in a specific field or topic. But why do businesses need them?
Tumblr media
What is a Subject Matter Expert?
Determining their role is essential to understanding why businesses rely on SMEs. A Subject Matter Expert possesses a high level of knowledge and competency in a particular area, whether technology, marketing, finance, healthcare, or any other discipline. SMEs often act as authoritative resources that provide guidance, answer complex questions, and ensure high-quality outcomes in their specialized domain.
Benefits of Subject Matter Experts
Here are several reasons why businesses need Subject Matter Experts and the value they bring to an organization:
1. Enhanced Decision-Making
SMEs provide their deep insights to help businesses make informed decisions. Their expertise enables them to foresee challenges, identify opportunities, and offer data-driven solutions. Whether crafting a marketing strategy or adopting new technology, having an SME on hand ensures better outcomes.
2. Improved Efficiency
When complex tasks or projects arise, SMEs can streamline processes by offering relevant knowledge and solutions. Their expertise eliminates guesswork, reduces errors, and saves precious time, making operations more efficient.
3. Credibility and Authority
Having Subject Matter Expert in your organization enhances your business's reputation. Whether through whitepapers, webinars, or presentations, SMEs can communicate complex ideas effectively, establishing your brand as a credible authority in your niche.
4. Tailored Solutions
Every business has unique challenges, and SMEs are skilled in providing customized solutions. Instead of applying generic approaches, they leverage their specialized understanding to address your business's exact needs.
5. Support Employee Training and Development
SMEs are excellent internal resources for skill development and training. By transferring their expertise to team members, they help elevate the organization's overall knowledge and capabilities.
6. Gain a Competitive Edge
Businesses that invest in SMEs often gain an edge over competitors. Whether through innovation, enhanced customer service, or optimized project execution, SMEs provide the expertise needed to stay one step ahead.
7. Boost Customer Confidence
When customers know your business has expert professionals on board, it instills trust and confidence in your products or services. SMEs contribute to high-quality deliverables and assist in addressing complex customer inquiries and concerns.
Examples of SMEs in Action
To better understand how SMEs function, consider these real-world examples:
Technology: An SME in cybersecurity ensures your company’s systems are protected from data breaches and cyberattacks.
Marketing: A marketing SME may specialize in SEO or content strategy, ensuring your brand effectively reaches the right audience.
Legal: A legal SME advises on compliance and contract policies, helping the business avoid costly legal pitfalls.
How to Leverage Subject Matter Experts
To maximize the impact of SMEs, businesses should:
Embed them in key projects: Ensure SMEs are involved in strategic initiatives where their expertise can make the most impact.
Promote collaboration: Encourage SMEs to share insights with other team members for skill upgrades.
Highlight their contributions: Utilize SMEs in thought leadership content like blogs, webinars, and industry talks to boost brand authority.
Subject Matter Experts are indispensable for modern businesses looking to grow and excel. From optimizing workflows to strengthening credibility, SMEs provide the specialized expertise businesses need to thrive.
If your business wants to stay competitive in an increasingly specialized market, consider integrating SMEs into your strategy. Their knowledge and insights might be the key to taking your business to new heights.
Looking to drive results with expert knowledge? Start by finding the perfect SME for your organization today.

Some tips to help you improve your writing style:
1. Read widely: Reading a variety of genres and authors exposes you to different writing styles and helps you develop a broader vocabulary and an understanding of various sentence structures. For example, if you want to improve your descriptive writing, read books by authors known for their vivid imagery like J.R.R. Tolkien or Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
2. Write regularly: Like any skill, writing improves with practice. Set aside dedicated time for writing, whether it's a journal entry, a short story, or an essay. Consistency is key. By writing regularly, you'll become more comfortable expressing your ideas and develop your unique voice.
3. Be mindful of your audience: Tailor your writing style to suit your target audience. Consider their level of familiarity with the subject matter, their interests, and their expectations. For instance, if you're writing a scientific paper for experts in the field, use technical language and provide in-depth analysis. On the other hand, if you're writing a blog post for a general audience, use accessible language and relatable examples.
4. Use active voice and strong verbs: Active voice makes your writing more direct and engaging. It emphasizes the subject performing the action rather than the action itself. For example, instead of saying "The ball was thrown by John," use "John threw the ball." Strong verbs also add clarity and power to your writing. Compare "He walked slowly" with "He sauntered" or "He ambled."
5. Vary sentence structure: Experiment with different sentence lengths and structures to maintain reader interest. A mix of short, medium, and long sentences can create rhythm and flow. For example, a series of short, punchy sentences can build tension or convey urgency, while longer sentences can provide detailed explanations or set a contemplative tone.
6. Use precise and vivid language: Choose words that convey your meaning precisely and evoke vivid imagery. Instead of saying "The flower looked pretty," you could say "The delicate blossom bloomed in vibrant shades of crimson and gold." Specific and descriptive language brings your writing to life and engages the reader's senses.
7. Edit and revise: Good writing often requires multiple rounds of editing. After you finish a draft, take the time to review and revise your work. Look for clarity, coherence, and grammar errors. Consider whether each sentence contributes to the overall message and whether the organization of your ideas flows logically. Don't be afraid to make significant changes if they improve your writing.
8. Seek feedback: Share your work with trusted friends, colleagues, or writing groups. Constructive feedback can help you identify blind spots and areas for improvement. Consider their suggestions while maintaining your unique voice and style.

a/n: jealousy themes, yandere sunday x reader, mentions of abduction, incapacitation, drabble
Tumblr media
Your artistic silence is broken with a snap of fingers and a question.
“Now, who is that man?”
Before the vision disappears, you have a split second to admire your efforts. Your skills have improved over the last three hours where Sunday had left your dreamscape to attend to some urgent and questionable matters.
This time, you have delved into the concept of imaginary creations that followed your newfound belief that even in this kind of twisted dream, deliberately manipulated by Sunday, you could still treat it like… a dream.
Do wonders. Keep yourself occupied to take care of your sanity.
The man you’ve created doesn’t have a name as you don’t recognize him. Maybe he was your own creation, or maybe he was one of the countless tourists at Reverie Hotel whose face you’ve been fortunate to remember. He would have made for a much more entertaining company than Sunday is, especially as he presses his lips into a thin line and looks disappointed in you.
“A secret boyfriend. We were planning to elope tonight, before you…” The story cuts short, as Sunday closes his eyes and sighs heavily, as if dealing with a troublesome kid. You take the warning and end your joke here, but because you know you have the privilege to as his beloved, you pout at him. “Alright. I was bored. Happy now? I thought you said I can do whatever I want here. Well, you keep calling it my dreamscape, after all.”
Sunday sits you down on a sofa that materializes within a blink of an eye. It’s another reminder you’re not in Penacony; there, nothing like that could happen, as it’s a dream with rules you are bound to obey. But at least there, you could understand its mechanism as it was created to mimic the real world.
‘Your’ dreamscape was solely ruled by Sunday’s whims.
You fall on a stack of heavenly puffy cushions, with his arm draped around your waist.
“Dearest. It’s our dream. This fantasy wouldn’t exist without any of us,” Sunday promptly corrects you and smiles gently at your irate gaze. “Believe me, I wholeheartedly would love to give you a fair share of power over this place, but it would be a bit dangerous to someone not practised in lucid dreaming.”
If you didn’t exceed his tolerance for defiance for today, you would have hit him with one of the pillows. Instead, you sink yourself deeper into them.
“Alright, then… What do I have to do to be classified as experienced? As far as I am aware, spending a whole three months in a dream should have made me an expert.”
“That’s a lovely conclusion. But does spending time in a library make you able to get a degree in every subject that’s written in the books?”
The question silences you. The break is long enough for Sunday to design your surroundings: a coffee table that matches the times, a porcelain tea set with golden details and some infusion with fascinating taste. They go with a tray of cookies and little sandwiches, as well as a bowl of fruits and nuts that would taste better if they were real.
However, you have to do with what you have on your hands.
You bite into a biscuit. “Then, what should I do? To be adept enough, that is.”
“There are many other requirements…” He falls into a reverie, and just as you think he closes the topic—you’ve been willing to give it up at this point, solely for the quiet to continue—Sunday speaks again. “If you can wake up on your own or overwrite any of the aspects of this dream, for example, gravity, I will consider giving you a little more power here.”
So, he’s asking you for the impossible.
“…I won’t be wiping myself out only for you to ‘consider’.”
Sunday takes a sip of tea. The porcelain can’t hide a tenderish smile, but the unexplainable gleam in his eyes is exposed.
“There is always a shortcut.”
“That doesn’t, um, doom me for eternity?”
“Yes. If I have a say in this, it’s a very delightful one.” And after the next sentence, you know why he’s so engaged in this discussion. “Marrying me.”
…
Sighing, you cross your arms and shake off Sunday’s arm from your shoulder. “I thought you hated liars.”
“Which part of what I said do you consider a lie?”
You ignore him and get up from the sofa, heading towards the big door. Sunday might have changed the look of the place, but the layout always remains the same. Behind that door, you will find a short hall that leads to several other rooms that don’t have Sunday in them and so are preferred.
“I don’t want to talk (to you) anymore, sorry,” you mutter out the apology just to defend yourself if Sunday was going to accuse you of being rude. “I am going to daydream—dreamdream?—about, I guess, men, if I can’t have anyone here. Goodbye.”
You reach for the pair of doors and find them uncharacteristically too heavy. You try to open the door, but just then a big silver chain crosses over their handles, a small lock appears, but you don’t have time to notice the details as you find yourself staring into a plain wall.
“Now, no need to rush,” Sunday purrs, and you turn around to see your beloved doors behind his back. “Would you like to play a round or two with me? I think we could have a wonderful conversation about how to pry the imaginary door locks and who are the people you’ve been thinking about so much.” He smiles. “All with names and examples. There shouldn’t be any secrets between us, isn’t that so?”

So I received this prompt:
breaking a near-frustratingly resilient toy who takes everything you throw at it like a real expert masochist and victim. cries out in pain but doesn't beg except to ask for more. really enjoys the idea of permanent injury and doesn't resist the idea of being snuffed, so the desire to make it beg for mercy is like priority number one...
I'm not writing this story for a couple of reasons
First, much like with penetrative sex impact play scenes get super repetitive after not long. You can describe like 5 hits max before running out of words to describe the actions and pain. Or maybe this is a skill issue idk
Second the story either ends with Subject not breaking which would he really unsatisfying. Or breaking, and no matter how much I put Subject through I'm going to get the response "great story but I wouldn't have broken" which will annoy the hell our of me
So
Instead what I've done is given myself a few rules and then really let my sadism and creativity run wild and planned out a few scenes that might or might not break Subject but are certainly evil as hell
Here are the rules
1. Pain can only come from impact play. I know I could be using bullet ants, cattle prods, needles, whatever. But those don't feel like earning Subjects begs of mercy
2. Nothing that requires a doctor, no permanent injuries (intentionally anyway). Yeah breaking bones hurts but it's a one and done thing, if Subject begs for more there's not much escalation available.
3. Everything has to be actually possible to do. Nothing SciFi or fantasy.
Scenes will be put in separate reblogs of this post so you might have to look for them

Comment in the Standard: How dare Montecito millionaire Prince Harry demand our tax money to cover his legal costs
This subject matter cannot be covered too much for my taste.
Tumblr media
Emphasis and comments by me:
Prince Harry’s latest court defeat in his rightly unsuccessful bid to overturn the decision to refuse him guaranteed Met police protection after he pulled out of royal duties might seem like a trivial battle over legal fees.
But in fact the duke’s failed attempt to pass 50 to 60 per cent of the costs incurred by the Home Office in fighting his unmerited claim tells us much about the preening prince and his selfish disregard for virtually anyone other than himself, his equally self-obsessed wife, Meghan Markle, and his children. [No one else matters of course. It is all about them.]
That’s because when the Duke of Sussex, as he still wants to be called despite ditching his royal role, wasted yet more of the High Court’s time in arguing for the taxpayer to fund at least half of the hundreds of thousands of pounds that the Home Office was forced to spend on the case, what he was really doing was trying to pass on a large chunk of the bill to ordinary taxpayers. [Sponging off others is quite on brand.
That’s right: instead of having the decency to accept that he’d have to pay up when he lost, the Montecito multimillionaire, for whom the legal expenses will be loose change, wanted taxes paid by everyone ranging from people on the minimum wage to bus drivers, cleaners and pensioners to cover his costs. It’s frankly contemptible. [Does he think it is his birthright to have the peasants pay for his temper tantrums?]
It's notable too that yesterday’s costs order by the High Court judge, Sir Peter Lane, reveals that Harry, who is so protective of his own privacy (when it suits him), managed to breach a confidentiality agreement made as part of the litigation by emailing “certain information” that was meant to be secret to one his lawyers and the MP Johnny Mercer. The prince might have apologised for the error, but the costs order refers to the “seriousness of the breach” and it was at best a sloppy mistake that added to the Home Office costs that he was trying to avoid. [What were you up to Harold?]
Harry’s whole case was, of course, misconceived from the start and it’s worth recapping why.
He asserted that the decision in 2020 by security experts on the Government’s Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, known as Ravec, that he should no longer receive publicly-funded police protection in Britain because of his move abroad should be overturned.
The supposed reasons were that the committee had allegedly failed to take into account the impact of a successful attack on the prince and had also acted unreasonably, unfairly and with a lack of transparency.
It was nonsense for the prince to think that he knew better than a panel of experts informed by the latest security advice from the police and intelligence agencies. [This man has a very high opinion of himself.] The High Court unsurprisingly dismissed Harry’s claim on all grounds, finding that there was no reason to overturn the Ravec panel’s decision. It had in fact left open the possibility of occasional police protection for the prince when in Britain, if there was evidence in future of a sufficient threat to his safety.
An attempt by the prince to persuade the courts that a later offer by him to pay for police protection should have been accepted was also rebuffed. Yet another judge dragged into Harry’s interminable litigation ruled it would be wrong to allow the wealthy to receive a service from the limited pool of specialist Met protection officers that a less affluent person could not afford.
That too was the correct and inevitable decision. Police protection officers are highly skilled specialists, trained at significant public expense, who exist only in restricted numbers and who are required to safeguard those facing the highest risks such as working royals, Cabinet ministers and prime ministers current and former, not others like Harry wanting the comfort blanket of protection they don’t need.
In short, every argument put forward by Harry was flawed and rejected by the courts. It’s a sign of his delusion that even the succession of earlier rebuffs from the judiciary didn’t stop him basing his attempt to get off a big chunk of the Home Office’s costs in fighting the litigation on the fantasy claim that he’d achieved “partial success” in his legal action. [He learns nothing from his experiences.]
Maybe that was how Harry viewed it. After he all, he told the world in his biography Spare that “there's just as much truth in what I remember and how I remember it as there is in so-called objective facts”.
But it simply wasn’t true, as yesterday’s High Court costs order reminded him.
It pointed out that Harry had “comprehensively lost” and that there was “no merit” in his claim of partial victory with his judicial review argument failing “on all of the pleaded grounds.” [Harold is a big loser.]
It was the obvious outcome from the start and the claim should never have been brought. His inevitable defeat was deserved and now it’s time for the penny-pinching prince to pay up.

Who do you find the easiest & hardest to write as and/or what is the hardest topic for you to write about? Your page covers a wide variety of topics so I'm interested in what you enjoy writing most.
Tumblr media
Easiest to write would probably be anything that doesn't take too much brain power. For example, if I'm just being excited about new upcoming Twst content, that's pretty easy for me to keyboard smash about. I don't like to do this often though, as I feel it can get too chaotic and difficult for readers to follow along with what I'm trying to convey. In terms of creative writing, I find fluff (especially character dialogue) very easy to write because you don't really need to focus on weaving intricate plots or complex feelings that may come with fics covering darker or more serious subject matter. However, I do really like writing emotionally challenging or angst fics or analyses that focus on inner turmoil and character growth; those just take significantly more time and energy to capture the vibes I'm looking for. (Just because something is easy to write doesn't necessarily mean that's what I most enjoy writing.)
Hardest for me would be action scenes (for creative writing). There's a certain rhythm to fights and it's hard to keep that pace. Go too fast, and the scene seems short/the fight is seen as not serious. Go too slow, and the scene seems dragged out/the fight is taking forever. Action scenes also require a lot of usage of verbs; it takes a particularly skilled hand to not constantly repeat "punch", "kick", etc. All the usual culprits. I admire anyone who can bang out an extended action scene like it's nothing, haha!
I also find writing my own theories hard, but it's for a very personal reason. I would consider myself very pragmatic, so little details that other people could easily blow into a crack theory, I perceive as "there was literally no meaning behind that and you're overthinking it". It also takes me a long time to gather the information I need, since I like to back up my theories with hard facts (like voice lines). It just takes so much effort to put together! It's easier for me if people come with popular fandom theories already prepared and ask me about those, since there would already be a pool of evidence for me to refer to. It cuts my research time in half, essentially.
Another thing that's challenging for me to write are replies to questions that involve real-world concerns. For example, I have been asked numerous times to weigh in on fandom discourse as well as to discuss potentially sensitive subject matter. The thing is, people often come to me already thinking one way about the topic. The challenge for me, then, is researching these topics and then conveying the information from as many sides and with as much nuance as possible. Sometimes I also offer my own opinion, but ultimately I would like to just provide the information and then allow others to come to a conclusion for themselves, or at least offer a counter to preexisting sentiments, to show there are other ways of thinking or seeing the same issue. I get anxious when others put such immense weight on what my take is, so I feel as though I have to be especially mindful about how I phrase things. I'm not an expert on everything and I often have to remind people of that 💦
Of course, there are also those few topics that make me uncomfortable so I choose to not respond to them altogether. I try to not completely discourage “dark” subjects entirely though; I feel it is important to discuss them from an analytical standpoint so we can better understand them, as well as ourselves.

had an excuse to list a few physical books I love for furthering your art practice
so it seemed worthwhile to crosspost in case anyone else was interested!
For just getting the painting-studies-from-life fire lit under you, I recommend Hawthorne on Painting : https://store.doverpublications.com/0486318745.html -- it's a collection of lecture notes from the cape cod school of art, and there's no pictures, and that seems so counter-intuitive, but the sheer passion for light and colour that shines through honestly is really inspiring. The core concept I took from it is that a painting study doesn't require expert knowledge of anatomy, perspective, structure etc; just a passion for seeing colour, and then putting the right colour down in the right shaped mark in the right place; a simple and infinitely difficult skill to learn and a great way to get out of your own head when the subject matter feels overwhelming. It's a very affordable little pocket-sized book and you can likely track down a used version as it's been a classic for a long time.
For more visual instruction, another classic-and-affordable book I have used to the point of disrepair is Jack Hamm's Drawing Scenery: Landscapes and Seascapes : https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/352897/drawing-scenery-seascapes-and-landscapes-by-jack-hamm/9780399508066 -- it starts with the bare bones of composition, but it goes into amazing detail on all sorts of elements of scenery from trees to skies to lighting and more. I keep his spread of Types of Clouds bookmarked for easy reference!
And for the fun of discovery and clear, direct instruction, I've really liked the Think When You Draw books : http://theetheringtonbrothers.blogspot.com/ -- while this isn't my personal visual style, they have such great, punchy, memorable instruction on such a huge, wide array of subjects, it's been a great tool to get me over the "okay but cars/bikes/horses/spaceships are HARD" etc threshold!
And finally for figure drawing, the book that really unlocked drawing people for me was Ron Tiner's Figure Drawing Without a Model : https://www.scribd.com/doc/103174602/Ron-Tiner-Figure-Drawing-Without-a-Model -- he covers a few different mental models of the figure to help build it from the ground up in your mind, and he connects these models very clearly to real life anatomy, drawing from life, and character design. Again, not a visual style I personally pursue, but immensely useful concepts that I still use today, 24 or so years after I first read this book, whenever I draw without a reference.
And I always recommend hitting up a used bookshop or two for some collections of art that inspires you -- even if it isn't your chosen medium, or subject matter, or style, if it gets your brain running then why not spend some time with it and see what you can get out of the book? Personally I always come back to my collections of Frank Frazetta, Rodney Matthews, Edward Hopper, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Caravaggio artwork, and most of those were random used bookshop discoveries.
Hope there's something interesting amongst this list for you, and please reply/repost with your favs as well!

I prayed to God for a son who would be a leader, a prince among his people, and God granted my prayer. But I never knew that it would mean losing him." - Dinah, Chapter 7
"Education was a crucial aspect of the upbringing of princes in ancient Egypt, as it was believed that a well-educated prince would make a better ruler. The education of princes was comprehensive and rigorous, with a focus on developing their intellectual and physical capacities." - Toby Wilkinson, "The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt"
In ancient Egypt, education for princes was highly valued and was considered an essential aspect of their upbringing. The education of princes was designed to prepare them for their future roles as rulers and was focused on developing their intellectual, physical, and moral capacities.
The education of princes was conducted in specialized schools, known as the "House of Life" or "Per Ankh." These schools were often located within temple complexes, and their curriculum included a wide range of subjects such as writing, reading, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, religion, history, music, and sports.
Princes were taught by highly trained scribes and priests who were experts in their respective fields. The education system was highly structured and rigorous, and the curriculum was designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The education of princes also included training in military and administrative skills. Princes were taught to ride horses, hunt, and fight with weapons. They were also taught the basics of administration, such as how to manage finances and handle diplomatic affairs.
"The education of princes in ancient Egypt was designed to prepare them for the complex role of ruler, which required not only knowledge of administrative and military matters, but also a deep understanding of religion and morality." - John Romer, "Ancient Lives: The Story of the Pharaohs' Tombmakers"

How to stand out in your PhD interview – 6 important topics you must prepare
You are not required to appear for an interview at every university; however, some universities do require this process.  If you got an invitation for the interview you don’t need to be panicked about it.
Consider the interview as an opportunity to learn more about your field from an expert while also demonstrating your potential to the committee.
Do your homework before attending such an interview. Maintain a conversational tone to avoid being monotonous for both you and the interviewer. Even though no one can predict what questions you will be asked in your interview, we have compiled a list of important topics for you to study before your interview.
Let’s take a quick look at the most important topics:
The goal of your PhD
Discuss your PhD goals and aspirations in depth. What do you hope to achieve in the short and long term, how do you intend to contribute in your chosen field, and so on? You have an excellent opportunity to discuss your PhD goals with an expert in your field; do not waste it.  Make the most of this opportunity by having a good discussion about your PhD goals with the expert in your field.
Your area of research interest
Discuss your research interests in addition to your PhD goal. Why did you select this particular research topic? What are your plans for conducting additional research in your field, both specifically and broadly? How will your research benefit the community? What is the challenging and exciting part of it? Remember that you must demonstrate your knowledge of your research while also gaining valuable insight from a subject matter expert.
Significant issues in your field
Discuss the issues you discover while conducting research in your field. While discussing, provide references from relevant books and articles. Keep your viewpoints intelligently with viable solutions, and most importantly, be honest. If you haven’t read about it, don’t pretend to read every fact or reference mentioned by the interviewer. Instead, admit that you were unaware of it and express an interest in learning how it relates to your work. This will portray you as someone eager to learn more.
Your PhD resume
Carefully examine your CV. The interviewer may inquire about the experience that qualified you for a doctorate, such as research experience, internship experience, or any other significant experience in your field. As a result, plan your response ahead of time. Furthermore, if you have taken a gap year to learn a skill relevant to your PhD studies, make sure to include it in your resume and prepare an explanation for why you learned that skill.
Mentoring experiences
If your PhD degree requires you to be a teacher or mentor to students, the interviewer may ask a question about that. As a result, be prepared to answer questions about your mentoring experience. The interviewer might ask you questions like, “What inspired you to become a teacher?” How you can help students with their studies, and so on.
 Question about the PhD programme
Make the interview more conversational. Demonstrate an interest in learning new things about your field from an expert. Ask the interviewer relevant questions about your field on occasion. Do not ask basic questions that are already available on websites or about things you are already familiar with. As I previously stated, this is an opportunity to gain insights from an expert, so don’t squander it. You can ask detailed questions about your department that you don’t know but are curious about.
Conclusion
An interview is a great way for a PhD student to interact with an expert and learn more about their field. You must take full advantage of it and prepare thoroughly for all basic and detailed questions. As an interviewer can ask anything, you should be fully prepared to answer any question.

Sooooooooooooo… the @kirbyoctournament yeah?
I gotta lot of characters. Like. A LOT a lot. So I really should have a character for this, but I’m actually Roleplaying with someone on Tumblr, that just recently submitted a character for it, and I can’t post about my best characters because the info segment will be spoilers. I have one particular character that I’m incredibly proud of and passionate about in particular, in my opinion he’s my bestseller, but I can’t talk about him yet. Hopefully he can participate in one in the future? I’m not putting my best foot forward with this one, but I’m still gonna throw her in.
This is Solostic, also known as Luz

But I’d need to run some studies, which requires a test subject besides myself, as I seem to be immune to the anomalous effects. May I have a volunteer?”/“These effects are quite unnerving… I will need to conduct further research before making a solid conclusion however.”)
Luz is very focused and determined, rarely ever distracted by anything but her goal. She has a job, and she will fulfill it, even when all odds say she can’t. Her robotic mind allows her to preform trillions of calculations in .001 seconds, giving her a perfect response to any situation she might encounter. She’s never lost a fight, and has expert level knowledge and skill with all weapon types. Her trusty blade, Sunburn, magically forms fire, and retracts and lengthens itself to create any weapon she needs. The only thing limiting her is time, but even that is more of a stepping stool then a roadblock.
Lore: Long ago lived the Ancients, a powerful race of magicians and technicians who created countless artifacts and amazing technologies. They concurred space, time, magic, and the very universe itself. They stood before all, a God above Gods. However, nothing they did could ever hope to save them from themselves. A great calamity of their own creation would come to destroy them all, and nothing they did was stopping it. Their one saving grace, a robot known as Project Solostic, forged with magic metals and an iron clad will, their perfect angel. Built to store billions of years worth of data, this being had but one purpose: save the Ancients. With the power to travel back in time by 1 week (requiring a seven day recharge), this robot could discover, learn, and return to them all the information they needed to prevent their ultimate demise. It was the perfect plan. The start up began.
And suddenly Solostic found themselves falling.
They landed on Popstar, having founded themselves not just miles away from the Ancients, but quadrillions of years away from them as well! The Ancients were long lost, their civilization totally collapsed. They didn’t know how, or why, or what destroyed the ancients to begin with. They hadn’t meet an ancient or heard an ancient or even SEEN an ancient. Trapped in a time where they had already failed their prime objective. They began to explore, to interact with others. They assumed the identity of a female puffian, as they found themselves more approachable that way. They meet new people, who called her Luz. She… kinda liked that name. But she was trapped, repeating the same loop of the same 7 days over and over and over again, trying to find a way back to the ancients. But no matter what, she always found herself falling once again, in the same place, at the same time. Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. Again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again- for TEN YEARS she TRIED, and she FAILED, and she FELL.
No. She couldn’t give up. This was her one job, her sole purpose, the very reason she existed. She would save them, even if it took decades, centuries, millennia. Even if she had write a complete log on the life and personality of every person on the planet, just to have them forget it all when she jumped back again. Even if she had to sacrifice her friends THEM to the cause. She would do it. She would find a way. She had to. You are not in control. Her creators thought ahead, giving her everything she needed to succeed. Jet boots, glider wings, millions of Yottabytes (1 Yottabyte = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes) of storage space, the personality chip override protocol, and the emergency jump-back response incase she ever finds herself in actual danger. She’ll repeat the same week over and over and over until she gets it right. Recruit an organization, form a base of operations, steal high grade military intelligence. Mistakes are just learning experiences. If something goes wrong, go back. Try again. Prevent them from dying this time. Until the week is perfected. Then move to the next. She’ll crack this case. She has all the time in the world.
“And if, in that time, it ever decides to turn on us?”
“Don’t worry. There’s a built in automatic override. We’ll just DELETE it.”

One of those warmups that got long on me, inspired 50% by the concept in this post of younger Kaeya gravitating to Fredrica as a familiar sort of authority figure (and Fredrica coming to like him in return), 25% by continuing discussion with @theabysscomeshome, and 25% by just wanting to roll around in various gender headcanons. I have been told I do not actually have to explain any further!
---
ETA: Now posted, with canon-compliant edits, on AO3.
---
"Do you have a moment, Master Fredrica?"
When Fredrica looks up, Sir Kaeya is standing in the doorway. She glances past him into the hallway, but Sir Diluc isn't with him. Setting aside the patrol schedule she's been revising, she nods.
"I do."
"Thank you." He steps inside, pulling the door closed behind him. "I only need a moment of your time. I had a question about the dress code, and you're of course the expert. I know some of the regulations are gender-specific. What are the rules on earrings and other piercings, and how do they apply to male knights, in particular?"
Fredrica regards him, standing in front of her desk with a look of casual curiosity on his face that she doesn't believe for a moment. Although Vision-users have significant leeway in how they dress, Sir Diluc wears the standard cavalry uniform with very little variation aside from especial tailoring--his is subtly cut to broaden his shoulders, emphasize the flat muscle of his chest, and give him the illusion of straight, narrow hips. Sir Kaeya's uniform is also tailored rather than standard, if less visibly so, but his longcoat deemphasizes his shoulders, falls loose around his torso, and flares out below the waist.
She used to wonder if those differences were simply meant to make Sir Diluc look even more masculine with Sir Kaeya standing beside him. Lately she's been wondering which servant made those alterations, and if they've observed, as she has, the way Kaeya has shifted other aspects of himself over time. His stance, his mannerisms, his intonation; none are straightforwardly feminine, but as he comes out of his shell he's sliding more and more in a direction she can only call flamboyant.
While she regards him, Sir Kaeya is watching her. Though he does a good job of pretending to be looking her in the face, she'd seen his gaze dart, when he first asked her, to her own unadorned ears. She lets the silence hold for an extra beat and watches him glance again, the casual air to his expression slipping very slightly.
He could have asked Jean the same question. Or consulted the handbook himself, for that matter. It's not the rules he's asking after--it's her permission. This wouldn't be the first time someone has mistaken Fredrica's personal preferences for her professional standards. She has to admit, though, that it warms her to know he's so anxious for her good opinion on this subject.
"The regulations for piercings are identical for men and women. Studs are acceptable in all cases as long as they do not protrude more than a quarter-inch past the skin, and rings so long as they are flush against it. Anything protruding or dangling requires authorization by a superior officer, following a combat test to assure the knight's skills are sufficient to keep them from being a liability."
"Ah," Sir Kaeya says, and gives her one of those elegant little half-bows that Crepus is so fond of, then seems to catch himself and raises his hand in a salute as well. She keeps her face straight with the ease of long practice. "That clears things up. Thank you for your time, Master Fredrica."
"One other thing," she says, because he *does* seem to want her good opinion, and she doesn't wish to be seeming to withhold it. Not when she finds herself in sympathy. "While a knight's captain usually conducts the test and provides the authorization for additional ornamentation, in this case I would prefer Sir Diluc not be responsible for the evaluation. If you apply for that, I'll handle it personally."
His shoulders relax slightly, and his smile warms an extra degree. "That's very generous of you."
"We both know Sir Diluc can't land a single touch on you that you don't want him to. It's practicality," Fredrica says brusquely.
"Of course," Sir Kaeya says, but his smile doesn't dim as he salutes her again and leaves her office.
***
That evening she watches Jean make dinner, hair tied up with a ribbon, her earrings the one bright spot of color in her own barely-tailored uniform. She wonders if Sir Kaeya thinks the ornamentation is a quiet rebellion, or if he knows that those are gifts from her father and her sister, always conveyed by sympathetic knights to Jean's own desk under, they believe, Fredrica's nose. Which *does* make them a rebellion, in a way.
She doubts he'd ever imagine that her own closed-over earlobes and shorn hair are her own kind of rebellion. Divorce made a remarkably good excuse to break with the protocols and standards she'd been raised with. All she'd had to do is tell Varka, one night when he'd been so deep in his cups that he hadn't realized she wasn't nearly so deep in hers, that Seamus had always loved her hair. Not one soul has commented on the severe style since.
It would be easier if she was in Sir Diluc's situation. But she has no doubt she's a woman, and there are parts of it she does love. She can't imagine that Crepus would deny one child what he's given the other, so she can only presume that Sir Kaeya isn't in Sir Diluc's situation, either. For all its talk of freedom, Mondstadt has much less space for that kind of difference than it does for complete transformation.
"Mother," Jean says quietly. "Would you object if I submitted a leave request to Grand Master Varka for the thirtieth?"
Fredrica considers the date. "Are Sir Diluc and Sir Kaeya submitting theirs, too?"
"Yes. I understand it's inconvenient to have two captains off on the same day, so I wanted to ask you first."
Because Varka will approve it regardless of the convenience or lack thereof, and leave Fredrica to sort out any problems that result. He's a generous man, the moreso when he doesn't have to deal with the consequences of that generosity. Fredrica has given up on ever breaking him of it.
"There's nothing planned for the date that would make it a problem. Go ahead and submit the request," Fredrica tells her, and is rewarded with a small, soft smile. She nods in return, but her mind is too busy to muster an answering smile. She rises from her chair and heads for the stairs. "I'll be down by the time you're finished."
She's long since shut her jewelry away in an out-of-the-way drawer, along with the hair ribbons Seamus used to delight in buying her and the combs that she no longer has the hair to hold. Anything Seamus gave her she's given to Jean--he did his best to be considerate of her tastes, so it was all subtle and understated, but it never really got through to him that her real preference was *none at all*. It suits Jean better than it ever suited her, anyway. What's left are the family pieces. Generations of Gunnhildrs have acquired millions of Mora worth of jewelry, and passed the best and most valuable of it down.
Anything with cultural or historical import has to stay, of course. Fredrica wore Gunnhildr's bracelet on the day of her mother's funeral, never before and never again, and it's locked in a case worth nearly as much as the rest of the collection for the spells of preservation and security upon it. Nothing else is quite that significant, but there's gifts from historical figures and foreign personages, medals and coronets meant to signify honors earned, even a simple pendant said to have been a gift from Lord Barbatos himself. She'd doubt that, except that by family record it was received eight hundred years ago, and the feather on it is still bright and soft to the touch.
Plenty of the collection, though, was only kept because it was high-quality, valuable, or simply had already been there when the next heir looked through, and they saw no reason to throw it away. Fredrica has a decent idea of Sir Kaeya's own tastes, from the unfortunate outfits he's been trying out whenever he arrives with his brother on some off-duty evening to talk Jean into a sunset walk with them, and knows even better what Crepus will likely approve of. She picks through the earrings with both those factors in mind.
Simple studs, to start with, silver with an inlaid star motif that matches his odd pupil. It's not the first very old bit of artistry in which she's unexpectedly encountered the distinctive shape. Then another set of studs, simple polished noctilucous jade set in white gold, to offer a little more color. She hesitates there, looking over the other studs. He hadn't actually said he intended to get authorization for anything more elaborate.
But she thinks of the ridiculous cloak he's adopted this winter, with bells dangling from the string around the neck, and the fringed suede jacket she'd watched Sir Diluc deliberately shove him into the lake to ruin, to general approbation, and all the different ways he's been trying to style his hair to make it crystal-clear he's growing it out. Left to his own devices, she can only shudder at what he might come up with. And there's a pair of pendant earrings that match the studs, the same white gold and noctilucous jade, in a simple, tasteful diamond shape that, and this is an important consideration, she can bear having to look at paired with his uniform.
All three sets fit into the pendant pair's box, nestled in a bed of soft satin. The box itself is a blue that was clearly meant to match the jade, faded only a little by time. Fredrica closes it up and carries it back downstairs.
"Give this to him for his birthday," she tells Jean, setting the box by Jean's plate before settling down to serve herself from the dishes that Jean has laid out on the table.
"I don't mind buying him a gift."
"You can give him two gifts, can't you?"
Jean looks surprised for a moment, then smiles at Fredrica. "That's true. I can. Thank you."
This time, Fredrica remembers to smile back. She watches carefully, though, to be sure that Jean actually takes the box, and only relaxes to eat once it's safely in Jean's pocket.
***
She doesn't actually see Sir Kaeya for over a week after his birthday. Her duties involve far more than overlooking just a few knights, after all. But when he knocks on her doorframe again, there's a glint of polished blue in his left ear, and the rush of satisfaction that warms her breast is even stronger than she'd expected.
"Do you have a moment, Master Fredrica?"
"I do."
"This won't take long." He doesn't close the door behind himself this time, simply standing in the doorway. "I was hoping to apply for that authorization you mentioned the last time we spoke. Would you be available any time this week for the requisite combat test?"
Fredrica glances at her schedule. "If you come in early tomorrow, we can conduct it at seven-thirty, before morning assembly."
"That would be perfect. I'll make sure to be there." Sir Kaeya smiles at her, and all the smooth friendliness she's been watching him develop for the past four years doesn't hide the flush of excitement behind it. "Thank you again, Master Fredrica."
"There's no need to thank me," Fredrica tells him. "It's my duty as Master of Knights to assist with any knight's concerns."
"I can still be grateful, can't I?"
"Be grateful *after* you've passed that test."
"Of course."
He nods, catches himself before the bow this time, and salutes her as crisply and formally as if they were in morning assembly right now. As he steps back into the hall, Fredrica raises her hand to salute him back. It is her duty, after all. She'd do it for any knight who came to her with the request. If she feels particularly satisfied to be able to do it for this one, that's her own business.

It would be funny, at least in my head. That kid!Khonshu end up meeting with the young Avengers, and for some reason, Miles tried to recruit him in one mission.
And purely out of coincidence, Doctor Strange went on a warning lecture about the Elder Gods. And Khonshu just stand there confused to the bone since it is now saying that he is an "Elder God" who is related to Gaea, a Greek goddess.
Eventually, Doctor Strange noticed something off about the newbie kid, it is familiar but just can't put his finger on it.
Then he revealed that he knows "heka" or Egyptian magic, to which they end up teaming him with Billy, because of the whole "magic" label. Even though they use it very, very differently.
Billy can blast energy.
But Khonshu would avoid doing that and just rip out someone's throat using a pencil. He only uses heka/magic to heal his injuries, enhance his body and stuff he touches, giving it his "blessing" to molecularly change it to anything he wishes. Then use it to break your knees or other defensive stuff, like making a train bullet-proof.
Think of Alchemical Transmutation from Fullmetal Alchemist. Khonshu does that with anything he touches, atomically changing it from one matter to another as long as he have an idea on what he is doing. So it requires a deep knowledge on matter, chemistry, engineering, quantum physics, quantum mechanics, and most of all, alchemy.
Alchemy have ancient roots on Egypt, besides China. So I am making Khonshu an expert Alchemist.
But if he does blast energy beams. It would be a huge highly concentrated Moon Light laser that have the strength being smashed by multiple moons at once. Because he is that dramatic, wants the most maximum, flashy damage done. And everyone in the Ennead told him not do that, so he does it anyway out of pure spite.
I mean, Khonshu have a vast knowledge on many subjects thanks to living with Thoth, The god of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Magic in Heliopolis, and travelling alone. Khonshu and Thoth became very closely associated thanks to the Heliopolis mythos and end up partly fusing to one God.
Khonshu can understand what ever shit Bruce Banner talks about, he just doesn't want to be interrogated by everyone. And he is just very, very lazy about anything intellectual. Choosing to doze off, both out of boredom and lack of interest on a subject he already knows thousands of years ago. Practically feigning being dumb and being a rude asshole if anyone asked him. The think is, he knows the "proper" way, or the accepted way. He just chooses the fastest method even if it is dirty and will get him in jail.
Basically, very, very utilitarian. Bending any rules, including his own if it means getting the results he wanted. So he is both gutsy/brave to do things outside the box and against the most commonly accepted norms, and also stupid at the same time as breaking those norms will get him in jail. And after getting in trouble so many times, Khonshu stopped giving a damn in general.
It's a bit of a nihilistic and a very cynical view of justice and the world.
Like he is smart but in a stupid and mad way. Think of Captain Jack Sparrow from the pirates of the Carribean. That one phrase where Becket tells Jack that he is mad, and Jack just replies that it's a good thing as his ideas would never have worked. Think of that.
Billy is also an actual kid. Khonshu can't exactly have a PHD-level metaphysics discussion about the nature of reality with Billy without getting the poor boy confused as hell.
Billy is a bit interested on the possibility of another magic user at first, everyone is. Until everyone learned that Khonshu rather uses his fists than do magic the same way Billy does. What he meet instead is a "younger" kid who acts rude, a bit of a dick, a loner, picks fights with the Avengers, talks like some arrogant prick yet speaks like your tired grandpa who is surprisingly fair at times.
The fact that Khonshu never shows his magic skill or take common pride in it makes it hard for folks to tell.
There is also something very off about the kid that makes Billy feel uneasy, like he feels something with Kid!Khonshu. But he just can't put his finger on it.
At this point, no one knows that Kid!Khonshu is actually Khonshu from an alternate dimension who got stranded in the 616 world.
Kid!Khonshu just continues to act like an antisocial loner to get them off his back.
It's actually the "elder god" thing where Billy is destined to be the next Demiurge, which is a really weird addition btw. So Billy end up sensing not Kid!Khonshu exactly, but the being named "Khonshu" written on the 616 universe cannon who is Ra's son. And Kid!Khonshu end up getting the same vibes due to his true name is also being 'Khonshu", even if it's from another universe with different rules.
