#skeleton rambling

Lately I've realized that 2024 has been a very poor year in terms of crafting for me. I've been uninspired, low on supplies, and just generally stuck in an unproductive mental state. Not fun, I know. So I thought that maybe, entering 2025, I could start easing my way into crafting again? I've been watching a lot of videos about different crafts and feeling a bit of the ol' inspiration. I have a bunch of scraps of both fabric and yarn, so I think I could do a few of those little "scrap busting" and "scrap saving" projects, something small and non-committal in time terms, but that could get my mind back into Making Mode. My hands miss the sensation of stimming with a crochet hook or a sewing needle, I think. I will continue watching more videos of tutorials, inspiration and other resources, and experimenting a bit to see what sticks. Don't be surprised to see some of these projects posted here as I get back to the swing of things and please, be kind enough to share some tips with me if you feel inclined to. I am still learning to do many of these things and I would deeply appreciate the advice, of any kind, that you could bring.

At some point I began a small scrap busting tunisian crochet blanket project but it never went anywhere as I kept getting sidetracked with other stuff, I think I could continue adding to that and seeing where it goes. The result is a very dense, thick fabric that, considering how much I love heavy blankets in winter, might prove useful. However, we're about to enter summer here and since I very much dislike summer, it might not be the best project for me to do right now. I could also try to repurpose the bag of fabric scraps I have laying around to make some sort of patchwork project. I saw lately a tutorial on how to make a simple purse made of scrap fabric that was then embellished with some lovely tiny embroidery that I really want to try. Do I have interface though? ... that might be my problem there, otherwise it'd be a great project to do since some slow stitching might actually do me some good right now. I need something small and portable that I could pick up while watching Youtube. If I had some money I could buy one of those pre-arranged embroidery kits to make through the summer, but alas, it'd be but a fleeting dream. I'll continue brainstorming. (What is this post anyway? It's more like a journal entry than anything coherent... oops)

fucking adore the undertale winter alarm clock dialogue for obvious reasons (its really good) but also because it establishes that flowey and papyrus are STILL friends. like with the rest of the cast he just can't make friends with them. he feels like he fundamentally cannot connect with these people anymore and he honestly might be right. but you know he's STILL gotta hang out with his best friend papyrus. he lets him dress him in a dumb little ribbon too

As of posting this, about 36,800 people have voted for Sans in the Sans vs Onceler poll, while about 51,180 people have voted for Cecil in the Cecil Vs Reigen poll. 14,000 more people have shown love for Cecil. (Yes, the Sans poll had a smaller total vote count but I think that's a sign of our Passion For The Radio Man)

I know that some people who voted for Cecil this time may vote for sans but guys. GUYS. We have the numbers, WE COULD DO IT. It's his BIRTHDAY MONTH, he has a HUSBAND TO MAKE PROUD. WE COULD TAKE HIM ALL THE WAY.

Nightmare before christmas-ifies your dca ✨️

In a place called Halloween town, you are a doll brought to life by a sunny mad scientist as an assistant, but when you go on an errand on halloween night you accidentally catch the eye of The midnight King Moon skellington, meanwhile later on you meet the boogeyman Eclipse, and you find yourself wound up between the three as they pursue being your significant other.

Moon Skellington - otherwise called the Midnight King - is a mayor of sorts, as well as a representative of halloween town. Despite being one of the indivuals that are the scariest of halloween, he is actually one of the kindest and calmest individuals in halloween town. He is the one who keeps the peace and makes the laws, one of the most important ones being no harming anybody. That means no harming the humans, and no harming each other. They are creepy and spooky yes, but thats for the fun of halloween, and they are not to intentionally hurt. Especially no killing anyone

Dr. Sun Finkelstein - or the Mad scientist - is a sentient runaway robot who was found by Moon and brought to halloween town. He does have a few screws loose and does have a bit of a grudge on humans for whatever reason, but he continues to respect Moons laws. He seems to respect Moon himself even more so, with how he acts around Moon compared to anyone else. This may have something to do with how Moon was the one who let him make his home in halloween town, and at the moment he appears to have become friends with Moon.

Eclipse - or how he is more famously known, the Boogeyman - is a banished criminal of halloween town. He was found when he was young, a centipede-esque hatchling of some sort of creature, freshly abandoned and hatched in a sack. He was raised in halloween town just like most of the other individuals, but he grew up spiteful and angry about the parents hes never met abandoning him. It isnt quite known how, but he went insane, and as a result started to harm other individuals. And even seemed to enjoy it. Moon has now banished Eclipse and has him imprisoned under a not so abandoned tree.

You are a new resident of halloween town, a living doll made to be Dr. Sun's assistant. You havent been alive for too long, and you were created with knowledge yes, but you still dont know much, though you are trying your best. You may possibly be one of the least scary residents of halloween town, but despite that you seem to be appealing to some because you seem to have caught the eye of three others. Your own creator who struggles a bit with denial at first, a mischeivous but kind gentleman that keeps the peace in halloween town, and a feared criminal of both the halloween town residents and the human world. (Please note that you can imagine yourself however you want, this is just how I imagine we look like)

Skeletal Anatomy of a Basilisk

I've been thinking about Basilisk anatomy stuff for my brainstorming, and I thought it would be cool to show what I think their skeletons would be like, cause snakes are cool...

yeah, and I wanted to practice drawing bones and body shapes (fun that I don't have to worry about drawing the pelvis, that thing is such a wierd shape), I've never drawn so many ribs before, but thats what snakes are like.

I know many people have different interpretations on what Vee being smaller/more humanoid than the other basilisks means. Some people say she's a different species (lesser basilisk, hybrid etc), But I always got the impression she was much younger than the rest of them.

Apparently, certain kinds of pythons are able to regulate their body temp and generate heat in special conditions.

I think Basilisks are naturally cold blooded, but can expend magic in order to keep their body temperature high in cold climates. Maybe some who have lived in cold climates for a long period of time naturally have adaptations, like increased body fur and cold resistant scales. The idea of Basilisks being able to adapt to their unique situations is such a cool concept, I wish we knew more about them in the show.

I also like drawing Vee with a more realistic appearance while also staying true to her canon proportions in relation to the other characters.

I liked finding a balace between more humanoid skulls, and more Boa/Python skulls, I think what I came up with was pretty cool looking. They can definitely open their jaws super wide, as shown by the inspector (Or at least greater Basilisks can):

I had fun on these drawings, and coming up with ideas, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

In an earlier post I said I was brainstorming for a potential fanfic. It's been super slow and I can't get my brain to start writing anything. That's always been my weakness, same with school writing. Maybe once summer comes, I can practice more with writing for fun and actually get somewhere. Just average struggles, IDK where I'm going with this and why I'm writing this down.

the way max jägerman says skeleton has truly ruined my life. literally, for a whole fucking year, anytime i see a skeleton, i grab my friend’s attention (the one friend that understand the reference) and go “oh shit, oh fuck, i didn’t think there’d be a skele’un here!” every fucking time

i was at the rennfaire and i saw too many and i’d just go through all the lines. sometimes it just devolves to both of us pointing at one just saying “skele’un” quietly over and over while everyone else looks confused
