Ok so uh.

We know how (at least in Chance's Scrapped lore) their parents were helicopter parents. A hc of mine is that, since they wanted them (chance) to be an overachiever and stuff, so they signed him up for a bunch of random things to learn as a kid, so they can just. Play a bunch of random instruments and stuff. The only one they actually enjoyed was piano (which is a canon thing that he likes playing it so yippee)

I've already said this before w one of the first HCs I sent in here, but I hc chance as boyflux and that, basically each new day is a gamble on their gender, but also they're trans Masc too bc. I said so :3 (aka projection)

With the ever popular hc that chance was in the Mafia w Mafioso + gang, I like to think that he and Mafioso had a somewhat father - kid eque relationship? Or at least, Chance looked to the gang as a sort of found family and Mafioso as like a father figure

Chance is. About 24 in my hcs? At least when they got forsaken. Since from what I read w the scrapped lore (my beloved I love the scrapped lore) it said that they got their parents' casino when he turned the legal age, which to legally gamble (at least in the US I think) is 21, and it said that they'd had the casino for 3 years sooo

Oh yeah I like to think that they're pretty friendly with pretty much everyone in the cabin, minus Shedletsky and Builderman. Idk why I just get the vibe that those two would just get really annoyed by Chance and dislike them

Theyre probably the closest with Taph, Guest and Elliot (mainly bc the friends that I typically play w main as them :3) and call call Taph Toffee bc it's silly (tpah really likes the nickname tho)

And finally a bit more of an angsty one you could say, one time during a round he was blasting music (don't ask me how idk) in their headphones and the killer was John Doe, the headphones malfunctioned and the song that was playing, the ballad of Jane Doe from rtc, started playing from outside of the headphones, and John heard it, making him pause from a sort of. Grief from it sincr it reminded him of Jane.

It will be two years this year since I decided to hit “fuck it” and make Griffin trans after I got angry at myself for not having any cool trans characters in my drawing roster.

This is the first batch of doodles I did with trans griffin (plus Jekyll and Hyde) in mind to see if I liked it (spoilers I did)

Unfortunately couldn’t add these to the last griffin post bc my griffin‘s visible design and Jekyll/Hyde’s designs are super out of date in these 💔😔

But still serves as a good visual on how griffin would bind his chest in his Uni days before getting in touch with a seamstress who took tailoring requests to make him a custom corset like binder for his chest

According to my sources there is a little bit of evidence of trans men in ye’ olden days binding with bandages and ngl it feels like a bit of foreshadowing that he would bind like that in University as he eventually covers his entire body like that to hide his invisibility.

Also- this might be a bit of a ramble but I thought I ought to share my thoughts on why I chose griffin specifically to be subjected to the trans ray.

Not only is it just me projecting on a fav character of mine- but it also kind of makes sense in a weird way to me.

Like why does a man make himself invisible in the first place?

For power? To not be seen? A need to not want to see his own body? A desire to have control over his body in some way? A way to be perceived how he’d like to be perceived without having others make judgement based of his physical features?

Well I think yes. (And more of course but this is already getting too long)

TLDR:

I just find it fascinating that a lot of reasons one might want to become invisible also can relate to the trans experience (at least from my own experience and what I’ve heard of others as I can’t speak for everyone)

And thus it just makes sense to me to see Griffin through a trans lens

No bc I'm so mad rn I usually post my rants on ig stories but I need the tumblrites to tell me if I'm crazy or what. Jwcc/ct spoilers WHATEVER

First of all I want to preface this by saying that this is just my opinion on the matter, I'm not saying your headcanons are "wrong" or whatever tf, it's a kids cartoon where they unironically use terms like "fam". You can play with the characters however you'd like.

That being said, this is why TO ME it does not makes sense for Ben to be anything other than gay. Again, if you think he's bi or straight or anything else that's cool. I'm also leaning towards the opinion that he does actually have a girlfriend. I don't think the shows gonna pull a 180 on it because, realistically, 2 queer characters is already a lot for a DreamWorks kids show. As much as I'd like it not to be.

But, since the beginning, Ben has been very clearly coded as exclusively into men to me. Before finally going into it, I remind everyone on here that I'm a lesbian. I have felt an affinity with his character specifically for the experience of only liking the same gender. I might be totally projecting.

Ok, so.

1. The arc Ben goes through during the show is yes, one of self discovery, but also one of self acceptance. He changes a lot from the start of s1, but he also comes to terms with stuff himself or other people didn't like about him. He doesn't throw the dork pouch away or tells Kenji to keep it, the first thing he does when he takes it back from Kenji is put on hand sanitizer. He is covered in dirt, he's not afraid of filth anymore, but he still does that action because it's part of who he is as a person. He also becomes very unashamed at the things he does. He went from being embarrassed of his carob bars to eating grubs in front of people who he knows think it's gross. He knows himself as he is and he accepts it. To me (and to lots of other people) this works very well as a gay metaphor, and pairs up pretty nicely with the whole "jungle boy? Jungle MAN" arc being a trans metaphor. But how does this make Ben uniquely into men?

Well, it doesn't. But I think this next one does.

2. Enter Yasmina. She's pretty, she's smart, athletic, funny, all that good stuff. I'm not saying that means every wlm character should automatically be into her, but it certainly helps. Now forgive me if I don't remember specific episodes/seasons, but we all remember that episode where Ben convinces himself that Yaz is in love with him for some reason. When he "rejects" her, he says : "I'm just now starting to find myself". That's cool, cause I'm pretty sure Ben's " finding himself " personality wise was over and done a couple of seasons ago. To me, that is a really good hint at him dealing with his gayness.

3. He's also the first person Yasmina talks to about her feelings for Sammy. Now, in this particular context, the options for Yaz to talk to were Darius, Brooklynn, or Ben. It would initially seem to make more sense for her to confide in Brooklynn, since the two of them are far closer than her and Ben, and it also wouldn't be the first time she brings up Sammy as a romantic interest for Yaz (see: everyone tweaking abt that one line back in like s2). So why does Yasmina, a very private and reserved person, choose Ben to talk to about her same sex crush? She has probably gathered from the previous conversation that Ben relates to her struggle in a unique way in which Brooklynn just can't. Ben seems very receptive of what Yaz is saying ("feelings, am I right?") and it seems like he REALLY gets where she's coming from.

4. This is one I don't see talked about a lot, and maybe it's just cause I'm too out of the loop with the fandom, but I want to examine it as well. It's when Ben decides to not actually stay on the island. Everyone (except Sammy) already knew he wasn't going to stay in the end, but still didn't force him out. I think this is especially clear in a line Darius says when they reunite on the boat that goes something like "you needed to figure it out on your own" *smile hand on shoulder combo*. No explanation needed I think

Okay this might be kind of long but i need to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. uhh Content warning for internalized transphobia/homophobia I guess

So basically I'm transmasc nonbinary and for the longest time I've thought of myself as a lesbian, and I've always been very uncomfortable with the idea of being with a guy, even before I knew I was queer at all. And like, I definitely am at least predominantly attracted to women, i don't usually find men attractive at all.

But recently I've started to really like this guy in a way that's pretty confusing since I already have a hard time distinguishing between romantic and platonic attraction. But also sometimes when I think about it too much it just feels so wrong and makes me uncomfortable.

I've struggled a lot with gender dysphoria and self acceptance related to being trans and I'm not sure if the discomfort is picturing myself with a cis guy makes me feel like id be the de-facto girl of the relationship (I realize what a weird thought that is but it has been also been a feeling I've experienced a lot in the past, note the aforementioned self acceptance issues.) Or if I'm feeling insecure about my masculinity in some way. He's bi and very accepting of my gender so it's not like he would only see me as a girl or anything but it still just feels wrong and icky somehow

Also it reminds me a bit of stories of people in denial about their sexuality like I've literally had the thought many times of if he was a girl I would totally want to date him no hesitation. so idk.

But it could also be that I'm just not actually attracted to him? Cause i love my friends very intensely and it could be that thinking about being romantically involved with him makes me uncomfortable because I'm not actually attracted to him, and i actually just really love him platonically? And also I'm usually only attracted to women so the fact that the only exception to that is someone I already really care about as a friend seems kind of suspicious?

Labels aren't really my concern here idgaf about what my sexuality is called I just feel like its so messy that I cant actually tell if i actually like him or not. because if i do actually want to like ask him out or something and then realize I'm not actually attracted to him that would be a fucking nightmare, especially since i really care about our friendship already.

TLDR: I cant tell if im not attracted to men or the thought of being with one just makes me feel really insecure about my gender. Has anyone else felt like being trans and dysphoria made understanding their sexuality and attraction really confusing???

i completely get this! im bisexual and have always been confident in my attraction to guys (minus maybe 2 weeks as a preteen when i wondered about lesbianism) but for me it comes with the sense that ill probably end up settling down with a woman because that is the way to Be A Man, and i cant be The Man when around another guy. masculinity is so competitive and while im aware of it, that makes it not easier to defeat, but easier to not be toxic and project it onto other people.

i think its the kind of thing that gets better with time and confidence. nothing you can rush. as for with your friend…. giving it time and thinking on it cant hurt. human relationships are really hard. knowing how you feel is really hard. i cant tell you what will fix your situation, but i can tell you that youre not alone.

Six(ish) Sentence Sunday

I have multiple Fandom Trumps Hates projects underway right now, and I've shared a few snippets from trans!Alex already, so why not give another one a chance to shine? This is from my Southern Philanthropy (aka Liam/Pez) fic for @onthewaytosomewhere, it's a delightful little 5+1, and I'm having a lot of fun writing it.

And then the bell over the door chimes as it swings open, and suddenly, Liam is wide fucking awake.  The man currently approaching the counter is an absolute smoke show. The turquoise of his hair would be bright enough on anybody, but contrasted against the man’s dark skin, it’s practically neon. He has rich, sparkling eyes and a mischievous grin, and he’s clutching something weirdly lumpy and hastily wrapped in brown paper in his well-manicured hands. Liam thinks he should have more questions about the parcel—and he probably will in a minute, given that it’s his literal job to ask them—but right now, he’s pretty focused on remembering how his knees are supposed to work.  It’s not like Liam’s been celibate since the breakup. He wouldn’t go so far as to say he had a weird reverse Love Actually experience when he first arrived in the UK—though his accent has, in fact, done him more favours than he would have expected given the general disdain he’d thought folks held for Americans abroad—but he certainly hasn’t had any trouble finding someone to keep his bed warm, every time he’s been looking for that.

maybe it's cause i'm new here but i'm a bit confused when people say kazui is gay. not that he isn't potentially queer or anything but like. in cat he seems like he wants a non-commited relationship with people, kind of hook-up culture-ish (he wants to be a cat (which aren't loyal like dogs), the drunk confession, etc). at the beginning he seemed like he wanted to sleep with her "i just wanted to touch, to caress" but not wanting the whole marriage deal (outside of conforming to what a man is expected to do). the marriage is a magic trick because he doesn't want it. even in half the lyrics are things like "my heart will float away and disappear" and "the scales of my heart has decided to sway" which does make it seem like he loved her at some point, but its changed. not that he never loved her, but he doesn't want a full commitment, he doesn't want that responsibility. he could be bi, pan, aro etc, but saying he's gay and never actually loved hinako doesn't sound right to me when in half he's the one who wants to touch, wants to be close, but she's distant from him and wouldn't notice. but maybe i'm just stupid idiot idk i keep getting insulted when i try to express this. sorry if this ask got sent multiple times

- no I agree. Kazui has very clear and solidified themes of "avoiding responsibility" and wanting a "non-traditional" adult life to me. The alcohol and nicotine may be just escapism, but also just a desire to live more carefree and unattached.

I will say though that my interpretation of him is still mostly leaning towards gay because of mention of his childhood friend, and the person of the bartender (that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bartender) that appears again in Cat. Kazui is all about concealing the details, so if something is minor but has showed more than once, keep your eyes peeled.

It's not that I think it's all his childhood friend or even the same man necessarily, I think it just shows something he's trying to conceal but can't help himself. It's the same as that woman at the bar in half. I don’t think she's important, she just symbolizes... well, women. And he doesn't seem very interested in her at all.

Plus, he mentions lying all his life, trying to "be as he was born as"(internalized homophobia/heteronormativity?), but where the core of the apple is (heh) is in the line "I wanted to be loved like a Cat". It's in the album cover, and the MILGRAM portal entry says it's the line that summarizes Kazui's character, paraphrasing it roughly. Cat in Japanese is "neko". I encourage you to research its meaning in Japanese slang.

It's not that I think he didn’t love Hinako. Is just that he believed marriage could turn his platonic love into actual romance and sexual attraction. "Maybe there's something I'm just not getting?"—that sort of thought process. A lot of people point out Kazui as a liar but forget he was likely lying to himself, most and foremost. Denial.

Again, can't discard the alcohol as possible escapism. Maybe he would've been totally okay with having a married life with another man. Or a married life without sex. Or as another gender? I don't know. I think it's fair to have another interpretation and even project your own queer experience in the character, not even exclusively in theory territory, but also headcanon. God knows I have.

I've seen people not take his age into account and the times he was probably born in when discussing the possible queer side of the character—it's already not easy now, but back then, it was even harder to live a "normal life" as a queer person.

Kazui is not my area of expertise, I can’t say I've researched too deep, it's mostly my own speculation. The best lead I can give you is the Magritte Theory as to why this belief had been around since before Cat.

Anyway, I'm sorry if you ever got pelted with stones for having a different opinion than the majority, anon, it's not nice... I said trans Kazui the other day and almost got burnt at the stake lol but go on and spread your theory wings wide open

Yama Wayama appears to be on a continuous upwards trajectory as the manga comedienne of the reiwa era which I got to confirm for myself with the hit Onna no Sono no Hoshi. The episodic comedy about a teacher daily terrorized by his students and coworker. And with the scanlation well on its way I just want to say please experience it for yourself.

Uchi no Class no Joshi ga Yabai I had eyed ever since I started learning Japanese and the new omnibus that coincided with the ongoing sequel series gave me a great reason to finally pick it up. Box of Light by the same author was on my list last year and I not only liked the premise of it but also loved the anthology format of the story. For similar reason I really liked Uchi no Class: In the world of the series high school aged girls may experience the activation of powers.... that are completely useless and troublesome. We follow the students of year one class one, a class infamous for always having the highest concentration of useless powers. Dreams projected into the sky, X-ray vision that turn everyone around you into terrifying anatomy models is only the tip of the iceberg. I can't resist a gimmick premise done successfully and the variation of characters and powers kept the premise fresh like older characters who haven't yet "grown out" of their powers or a trans girl storyline.

Hatsukoi, Zarari follows the young woman Arisa diagnosed with a light intellectual disability and autism. Living between jobs and having a hard time turning down men who only want to have sex she has always struggled with her own self worth. This is until she falls in love with an older coworker who is charmed by her personality and quirks. But will things change if she opens up about her diagnoses? Zaku Zakuro has made manga and shared online about living with ADHD and asperger syndrome, giving this story a very personal and different perspective focusing especially on how stigma around developmental disabilities can be what causes the most friction and pain.

Internet Love! is a love story for the social media age with a budding romance that goes across borders. Bisexual nail artist Tenma has for years been a fan of a completely ordinary man from Korea named Uno who appears to be addicted to posting his life on instagram, daily filling up his story until the posts are lined up like dots. Thinking he held nothing but a healthy distance of "standom" for Uno, but he instead hits rock bottom when his insta favorite posts a girlfriend reveal. Tenma no longer able to bring himself to open the daily insta stories sinks into a depression, but Uno takes note that a certain someone stopped checking up on him... I was instantly charmed by this and was especially taken by how their clumsy attempts at communication without being able to speak each others language or no lingua franca was portrayed and the personal styles and fashions of the characters I just adored the whole thing.
