Bi-ased
Jonah x Reader
You come out as bi to Jonah. It takes a lot of effort.
“Is there something you want to tell me?” Jonah asked, his gaze unwavering as he looked at you from across the table.
You squirmed in your seat. Were you that obvious?
You had tried to work up the courage to tell him for the better part of two days now, but somehow the words would not leave your lips. It was making you anxious and stressing you out because you wanted to tell him, and your nervousness was, quite frankly, entirely absurd.
He had come out to you as pan a while ago, and so offhandedly that you nearly missed it. To him, it must not have been a great deal at all — or maybe he was just immensely comfortable around you — and while you loved him greatly, there was still a part of you that descended into panic when you thought about telling him you were bi.
It was not that you were anxious about his reaction — you knew he would smile fondly and thank you — but the act of telling him. Coming out, especially to a person who meant the world to you, was never easy.
“I—” you stuttered, averting your gaze to the plate of pasta he had cooked. “No.”
Jonah narrowed his eyes. “Really?” he began, tilting his head, “because you have been squeamish recently and I see you open your mouth to begin a conversation only to snap it shut a moment later.”
“Maybe you looked wrong,” you said, taking a sip of water to distract yourself from the nervousness you felt boiling up again. Your hands were clammy, and your heart felt like it wanted to carve its way out of your chest. You felt sick from anxiety.
Something must have shown on your face because Jonah put down his fork to take your hands in his. “Hey,” he said gently, concern shining in his eyes, “you’re alright. There is no need to tell me anything you don’t want to, babe.”
You sighed. “I know,” you murmured.
If you didn’t do it now, you felt like the words would never leave your lips. Jonah looked so comforting and genuine, the corner of his mouth twisting into a minuscule smile as you searched his gaze. He squeezed your hands reassuringly. That was the final push you needed.
“I’m—” you cleared your throat. Shit. You felt your heart hammering in your chest and your hands trembling slightly in his grip.
Jonah smiled, hiding his concern in favor of reassuring you. “You can tell me anything,” he said, massaging small circles into the back of your hands as he felt them tremble. “Take your time.”
You sat there in silence, concentrating on his touch. The only sound you heard was the clock ticking away noisily on the wall next to you, and your gradually slowing heartbeat. With every second ticking by, it felt like the words got harder and harder to say. It felt as if you had missed your window to tell him.
There was something within you that did not dare to break the silence, and you closed your eyes to fight back the tears of frustration stinging in them.
This was not how you had wanted this to go. You had planned to drop it casually, maybe when it came up in one of the series you watched with him, maybe when he made a joke about his own queerness. You wanted him to know what you identified as. You wanted to share that part of your identity with him and you knew that he would love you all the more for it. So why was this so hard?
“I can hear you beat yourself up over this,” he whispered, raising your hands to his lips and placing a kiss against each knuckle. “Would you like me to help?”
You swallowed thickly, taking another deep breath as your heart picked up again. “Help how?” you asked, not meeting his eyes. The warmth washing over you at his gentle kisses did nothing to ease your anxiety.
He hummed, thinking up something. “Let’s play it like a guessing game,” he said, shooting you a calming smile. His patience was inexhaustible when it came to you, and you saw all the love and care he had for you in his fond expression. “That way you don’t have to say it, but you can tell me.”
You nodded, squeezing his hand as you waited for the first question.
Jonah thought for a moment, looking at the pasta. “Is it about sexuality or gender?” he asked.
“Sexuality,” you said, biting your lip. “How did you know?”
He chuckled, looking up at you. “I’ve been there,” he said. “It might not have looked like it, but it took me a while to come out to you. I was so nervous I don’t think I slept well for days after making up my mind about it. How many stripes does your flag have?”
You looked at him in shock. From the way he had said it, you never would have guessed that it took him any effort at all to reveal that part of his identity to you. “I didn’t know,” you said, suddenly feeling stupid for not recognizing his struggle.
“I’ve been told I hide my nervousness well,” he said lightly, squeezing your hand. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Three,” you said, a part of you eager now to tell him.
Jonah thought for a moment, going through the pride flags in his head. “Are we the same?” he asked.
“No, there’s a difference,” you replied, fiddling with his fingers.
“Oh,” Jonah exhaled. You looked up at him to find the fond smile you had expected. “Pink, purple, and blue?”
“Yes, I’m bi,” you said, finding the term to roll off your lips almost easily now.
“That’s great! I love you,” he said, beaming. He released your hands to get up, circling the table and pulling you into a tight hug. “Thank you for telling me,” Jonah said, holding you tightly against his chest and allowing you to bury your head in the crook of his neck. “I know it’s not easy. Thank you so much for trusting me with this, babe. I am so proud of you.”
Your arms tightened around him and you felt tears of gratitude blur your vision as you took in his words. You knew that you could rely on him for anything, you would always be safe with him. Jonah loved you as you were, and you loved him the same.

Tumblr media
I told you a lie, désolé, mon amour
I'm trying my best, don't know what's in store
Tumblr media
The next week, I stepped out of therapy crying. I got into the car, slamming the door.
“Hey,” Ellie says softly, looking at me with her hands resting on the wheel, her gaze full of worry. “You okay?”
“Drive.”
“But—”
“Just drive.”
“Okay.”
Ellie starts driving. I wipe my tears, feeling overwhelmed. My mother had called yesterday and made me feel like shit. I wasn't doing my best at school. Ellie and I hadn't gone out since Christmas. So basically, everything was shit. I've also had urges to relapse, and they're just not going away.
I cry. Ellie drives. This is okay. It's okay. Except that it's not, and I haven't told my therapist anything about myself yet. My mother hasn't spoken to me in weeks, and my father sent a cat video on WhatsApp this morning. And Ellie’s knuckles are turning white from how hard she’s gripping the wheel, which makes my heart ache because I know she cares. It makes me want to tell her everything, but the words are stuck in my throat, and I can't seem to get them out.
We arrive at the apartment a couple of minutes later. Ellie doesn’t immediately open the doors, and I've calmed down enough to answer when she asks, “Baby? Are you feeling okay?”
I nod, looking away. The people that I see walking around look sad.
“I’m fine.”
“It’s okay if you’re not, though,” she says. I stay quiet, doubting it. Ellie nudges me with her elbow, looking for an answer. “Hey.”
“Yeah,” I say. “I know.”
Ellie pats me on the thigh before getting out of the car. I get out, too. I don't bother eating dinner that night; I just go straight to bed and fall asleep.
Tumblr media
The next few days felt monotonous. I've fallen back into my sadness, the type that isn't bitter but sweet. It doesn't make me want to relapse. It makes me want to stay in bed more hours than I'd like, takes my appetite away, and leaves me feeling nothing but numbness.
I wake up, go to work, study, attend uni, come home, and sleep. The cycle repeats and repeats, and I'm so, so very tired.
Today, I took the day off. I knew I was too tired to do anything, so I planned to rot in bed. Ellie knocks on the door, but I don't answer. I hear the door creak open and the light from the living room creeping in.
"Hey," Ellie says, her voice coming from behind me. "Mind if I lay next to you?"
"It's fine," I say with a hoarse voice. I feel the bed sink at my side, and then Ellie is behind me, wrapping her arm around my torso and nuzzling her face into my neck, leaving a kiss right there. I feel cozy and comfortable. I don't know if this will last. I hope it does because it's a feeling I've never experienced before—someone comforting me? That has never happened.
"Do you want to talk about what's going on?" she asks. I stay quiet. "I care about you. I'm worried."
I do want to talk about it, but at the same time, I don't.
"I'm fine."
"You always say that
You haven't gotten out of bed since you came from work, and the frozen lasagna you were going to make for yourself last weekend has been in the fridge since then." She stays quiet for a second, her fingertips caressing my arm. "You're not doing fine, baby."
Millions of thoughts go through my head. Thoughts I don't say. I don't want her to leave; I don't want her to see how I feel.
"I'm trying, though." It's easy to say since Ellie isn't looking at my face directly. Tears threaten to spill from my eyes. I blink them away; I blink, blink, and blink again. Fast.
Ellie stays quiet, her breath tickling my neck. She kisses the back of my head again, her hand holding mine. I hold it to my chest. "I know. But you don't have to be alone in this."
That hits me like a truck. I wasn't expecting to be held by her, let alone her saying I don't have to be alone. A tear falls from my eye, landing on the pillow. I sniff, and Ellie holds me tighter, not saying anything. She tucks a strand of hair behind my ear with her free hand and kisses my temple.
"I'm sorry," I say, in a moment of pathetic weakness. She hugs me even closer.
"Hey, no. Don't apologize. C'mon, turn around."
I let go of her hand, turning around. Her left hand cups my face and she kisses my cheek, then my forehead, and then she kisses the tears that fall on my cheeks. When she pulls away, she gives me a small smile, "You're going to be okay."
She doesn't want you. She's your friend; she doesn't want you. She will fall in love with you, not your brain nor your scars, and when she finds out about the way you think, she'll leave.
Tumblr media
I wake up on Ellie's chest, it feels good to be comforted, I've found. Her phone is on the nightstand, so I just reach it and look at the time. It's eight o'clock. I've fallen asleep for two hours. I try to make myself more comfortable on her chest, attempting not to wake her, but my movements fail and she stirs.
"Hey," she says, her voice still laced with sleep. "What time is it?"
"It's still night," I say, closing my eyes. "We slept for two hours.'
"Feeling better?" I feel comfortable enough to shake my head. "Do you want to talk about it? I told you, I'm worried. And don't bullshit me with the whole 'I'm fine' shit, yeah?"
I stay quiet as her thumb caresses my back, "Did I tell you why I'm going to therapy?" Ellie shakes her head. "Well—back home I had some
issues. Mental health stuff related. I kept going back to depressive episodes. And one day I just asked for help from my mom, because I—I just couldn't stop self harming."
"Baby," Ellie says, hugging me tighter and kissing the top of my head. "What happened? Did your mother react well?"
"Yeah. Surprisingly. I got help. Got better. Sometimes it comes back, and I still get urges sometimes, but I can control it. It isn't as bad as it was before. But lately, it's just—yeah."
"You don't do that anymore, do you?" She asks, worried.
"No," I shake my head. "Not anymore."
"And what about the urges, do you still get them?" I nod, slowly. Ellie plays with my hair. "And therapy? Is it helping?"
"I haven't told her anything, yet. I—I don't know, I can't talk about it."
"What if I go to the next session? If you're okay with that, of course. If you still don't feel comfortable we can look for another therapist or another way to get you help."
I hide my face in her chest when she says the last word. I don't know why I've been refusing to get help. I don't know why I don't like that word. I sigh as Ellie stops playing with my hair and begins rubbing my back.
"I think—I think I would like it if you go with me."
"Okay. Okay, then. I'll go." The room falls to silence again for a few seconds. I feel ashamed for telling her. "I'm sorry you have to go through this
I wish I could do more."
"You're doing more than enough," I assure her. It's my time to hug her tighter. "You’re the first person I’ve talked to about this."
"Yeah?" She seems surprised. "I'm glad you talked to me. I'm here for you if you need anything—I mean it. You just have to tell me, I will listen
 You could've told me sooner."
"I'm sorry."
"Hey, don't apologize. I’m just saying, I'm here for you. I've been there for you, always. And
is there something I can do to help?"
"Just be there," I say. "That's enough."
"Mhm, I'll stay."
I think she wants you, a little voice in my head says. I think she loves you, and I don't think she'll ever leave.
Maybe I'll be okay, after all.

I have a younger brother, different mom
Not too close, but I am opening to having a stronger bond
It is a desolate place to be an only child
Before finding out of my brother's passing a gust of wind left my body
It was such an uncanny, unnerving feeling
Yet brief
I would like to think since we were so interconnected a part of him left me
And I haven't been the same since
It is just after so and so years
I can think clearly
A good mate of mines wanted us to do vision boards for the year ahead
This was at the restaurant of the uni we both graduated in
I spent time during my undergraduate eating pub food, making remarks about the stern, ethnically ambiguous manager and attending great socials
This time around the mood was more somber
I couldn't bring myself to get of bed let alone plan for the year ahead
Or at a church retreat where a young professionals goes on about a 5-year plan
What the hell was a 5-year plan, anyways
I didn't even have a daily plan
A zombie staring at the screen blankly at my editing job, unable to make the most basic edits
Or in my master's struggling, struggling to coordinate schedules with team members
Publicly, I was the thinnest I ever been, but inwardly falling apart
Some type of upward mobility it looked from the surface, but I knew the truth of my inner distresses and turmoil
And so I took matters into my own hands
Left to London with the little strength I had and two suitcases
Damn, I was fragmented

One Way Ticket
Pairing: Kim Taehyung x Reader (ft. Yeontan bc Family)
Genre: Flufffff, established relationship, long distance relationship (not for long), and like, slight angst at the beginning if you squint your eyes and do a backflip
Word Count: 4k
Summary: Long distance relationships are never an easy thing, and although you and Taehyung had managed to make it work for four years and were used to not seeing each other that much already, he couldn’t help but feel like his birthday was ruined at the news of you being stuck at the airport due to a bad weather flight delay. However, although things didn’t quite go to plan, it only took for you to arrive two hours before the day was over for it to be his happiest of birthdays so far.
A/N: Hellooo, well, obviously this is for my man’s birthday đŸ„łđŸ’ This story takes place in my Red Flags series’ timeline since one of you requested it and I thought it would be really cute, but you don’t need to have read it to understand what’s going on here. I hope you guys enjoy! please let me know your thoughts~
Tumblr media
“You were supposed to be here today” Taehyung reminded you, unconsciously tightening his hold on the phone as his low voice did a good job at letting you know just how upset he was.
You sighed, that alone letting him know you weren’t having a good time with said fact that was just not happening anymore either. “I can’t control the weather, love
”
Now, he knew that. Of course he knew that. But right then, he really fucking wished you did control the weather. That way you wouldn’t be stuck in another continent still due to a snowstorm that had delayed, if not cancelled, all flights that week — a stupid snowstorm that was keeping you away from him for longer than you should have.
It was a joke. It had got to be a joke.
That was what Taehyung kept telling himself throughout the whole phone call, and continuing to believe —to wanting to believe— so even after you hung up.
You were supposed to arrive that night. That had been the plan all along. All his schedule he had rearranged so he could make sure that particular night he would spend with you. Just you and him. Since the very next day, also known as his birthday, he would have to go to rehearsal for BTS’ presentation on the 31th like every other year, he was looking forward the most to this night. He had it all planned out. Your flight would arrive at 8pm, he would pick you up and then the two of you would have dinner together back at your —now— shared place. You would wait up until midnight, have some cake afterwards, and then stay up late so you could, well, catch up on a few coupley things you had been missing out on for a good while now. After all, you had not seen each other in nearly five months.
It was funny, how he used to always say he would never be able to do long distance relationships when he was younger, yet here he was now, four years —and going strong— into one. It was hard as hell, he could not deny it, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way, not as long as he got to be with you in the end. And at the end of the day it was all worth it, for you had finally graduated uni back home, managed to find a job in Seoul, and were now moving in with him like the two of you had agreed on a long time ago, once you realised you were most definitely sticking together for as long as your lives allowed you to. So, even if he had to wait a little longer to see you, this time it was different, for you had only gotten a one way ticket, and he would never again have to drop you off at the airport and cling on to you like his life depended on it, somehow being harder for him to let go of you as the years went by.
Nevertheless, it sucked. Right then, it really fucking sucked. Five months had gone by without seeing you already and turns out he would now have to wait one or even two more days than planned? Bullshit. And that if he was being optimistic, because he swore to God he would lose his shit if you had to spend New Years Eve on a plane, alone. Not like you were spending it together to begin with either, since he had that thing to attend to, but you would at least have a good time with some of the friends you had made during the time you had stayed in Seoul for your uni’s exchange program, and who had now invited you over to a party you had oh-so-excitedly told him about.
That night, Taehyung went to bed late. Still wanting to believe with everything in him you were just pulling a prank on him like you loved to do every now and then, and that you would walk through the front door anytime with that tired face of yours after the long ass flights to Korea he was so used to by then — the same exhausted face that would light up as a bright smile took over your factions instead at the sight of him.
However, that night, you did not make it home. What you did make it to instead, was to be the first one to congratulate him on his day. Over the phone, yes, with the airport’s background noise and not in person like he had wanted to, yet there you were being once again the first one to do so, at exactly 00:00. And somehow, that alone was enough to make him happy before going to sleep. Not as happy as he would’ve been with getting to sleep with you in his arms, of course, but happy nevertheless.
He did not lose faith, though. The next morning, as he got ready to head out to rehearsal, he kept glancing at his apartment’s door over and over, still waiting for it to burst open anytime and for you to walk inside right after.
When that didn’t happen, he looked forward to the moment his members brought him his birthday cake as they waited in the dressing rooms for their turn to rehearse. Now, the guys hadn’t told him they were bringing him cake, but after all these years it was pretty much a given. And it would only make sense that you were there, right? Whether it was bringing the cake to him as everyone in the room sang the traditional birthday song to him, or showing up as a surprise right after.
Once that didn’t happen either, he couldn’t hide his disappointment anymore — still being grateful to everyone else for trying to make his special day a memorable one, yet not being able to fully enjoy it without you there. Even falling in the clichĂ© of wishing for you to be there as he blew out the candles. That was truly all he wanted, after all.
And once his schedule for the day was finally cleared up, his last hope was walking into the apartment that night and seeing you already there waiting for him.
Again, that didn’t happen.
Biting the inside of his cheek as he walked into an empty apartment, although Yeontan was there to excitedly welcome him back home and had managed to bring a weak smile to his face, he couldn’t help but feel his eyes well up with tears. Telling himself over and over how stupid it was to be upset over something neither of you could control, he contemplated calling you for a few seconds, shaking that thought off with a tilt of his head and deciding to go take a hot shower instead. No matter how bad he wanted to, if he did call you, he knew for sure he would end up being even more upset than he already was, and then you would end up being upset as well, and that he did not want.
Not even bothering on drying his hair later that night, he changed into his pyjamas and called Tan to go keep him some company like it was usual by then. Watching the fluffy dog make himself comfortable on the mattress, Taehyung turned the lights off so he could get into bed for once and for all — wanting nothing but to sleep that day off so you would hopefully be there by the morning. Although it would no longer be his birthday, he wished he could at least get to spend some time together before he had to head out once again.
Before he could completely doze off, however, he felt Yeontan snap up from his sleep and effusively wave his tail from side to side as he ran to the closed door of the bedroom. Letting out a tired groan, Taehyung glanced over at the clock on his nightstand, staring at the number ten on it for a second before he turned the lamp on and fixed his eyes on his excited pup.
“I already fed you,” his voice came out hoarse at the lack of speaking, catching Tan’s attention for a second there before he was back at barking at the door. “Don’t tell me you want to go to the b—”
That’s when the sound of a key making it inside the front door’s lock caught his attention. And, you see, only two people had a key to the apartment. One was his, of course, and the other one, much to his excitement right then, was yours.
Not even having time to catch his breath, he jumped off the bed and opened the bedroom’s door, watching Yeontan sprint down the already illuminated hallway as you had just turned its lights on — a huge smile parting his lips at the sight of you, not being able to hold back a giggle of his at the way you had panicked and closed the door harder than you had intended to, so Tan wouldn’t be able to run out of the apartment.
“Tan-ie bean!” you excitedly greeted the pup first thing as he reached your side.
Struggling to move past your suitcase, you managed to kneel down to pet the cute ball off fluff with one hand as you held the other one as far up as you could, holding a strawberry cupcake with a single candle on it that you had already lit up right before coming in — maybe not your brightest of ideas.
Staring up at your boyfriend, who was still on the other end of the hallway, you smiled brightly and stood up straight as he came closer. “Happ—”
Before you could even finish what you had initially planned to sing and had by then settled for cheerfully chanting instead, Taehyung had already pulled you into his arms — unintentionally blowing out the candle as he had rushed over to you way faster than he’d like to admit.
“I missed you” he mumbled, wrapping his arms tighter around your figure and burying his face in the crook of your neck as he felt his heart at ease.
You smiled sweetly, wrapping your arms around him as well —being careful enough not to stain his designer pyjamas with the cupcake’s icing— and pressing down a small kiss to his shoulder.
“I missed you, too” you cooed, hearing him giggle when you planted a kiss on his neck this time.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were getting on a plane already?”
“Because I thought I would get here before you came back from rehearsal and I’d surprise you. You know, wait for you with dinner and whatnot
” you pouted. “But then of course I had trouble with my luggage and got here way too late. So I got you a cupcake and a candle instead!”
Taehyung giggled at the way you had ever so cheerfully said that last part, pulling slightly away from your body so he could glance at the cupcake in your hand you had just raised up in a victorious way.
“You could’ve just showed up barehanded, said ‘happy birthday’, and I would’ve been the happiest”.
“You interrupted me when I was about to tell you ‘happy birthday’, though” you huffed over dramatically.
Letting out a light laugh, he securely cupped your face in his warm hands and rested his forehead on yours, smiling blissfully as ever at how close he was able to have you right then, at how he was able to feel your warmness in his hands after all those months. “You can say it again now”.
“But you already blew out the candle” you pouted, bringing the treat closer to him so he could see your point.
“I guess this is the moment my wish comes true then”.
“You didn’t even get to make a wish, you idiot” you rolled your eyes.
“Oh, I did” he nodded his head determinedly. “Earlier today. And not to brag about it, but it already became true”.
“Was it perhaps for me to arrive today?” you coyly batted your eyelashes, earning a very visible roll of eyes from him.
“Cocky, aren’t we?”
“I mean,” you shrugged, taking a step back from him and his hold. “I can always go back home and send your actual wish ov—”
“Yah,” he stopped you as you dramatically turned around to pretend to leave and Yeontan followed right after, pulling you back to him by your wrist. “I didn’t spend pretty much my entire birthday wishing for you to get here so you can leave me just like that” his eyes turned softer, yet still held that playful vibe in them. “Besides,” he pulled you closer, this time by your waist. “Funny how you said ‘go back home’ when this is your home now, baby” your heart skipped a beat at his remark, appreciating the way he looked up and puckered his lips as he pretended to fall deep in thought. “Hm
 Maybe I misheard”.
You giggled at the way he had copied your overdramatic ways, bringing your free hand up to sweetly caress his cheek. “My bad, love”.
Taehyung smiled, with that boxy smile you fell in love with years ago, and nodded softly to let you know it was alright. “Can I get my birthday kiss now?” he murmured, ever so faintly brushing his longing lips against yours. “I’m kinda dying over here”.
Shaking your head in amusement as you laughed, you bit your lower lip. “Just kiss me already, you dork”.
So he did, not even dreaming of wasting another second before his lips hungrily crashed against yours. He had missed you like crazy, he always did, but right then, as your soft lips were pressing on his and your hand made its way from his cheek to the back of his head, entangling your fingers in his still damp hair, he realised just how bad he had craved your touch, how bad he had craved you.
Having him deepen the kiss, you couldn’t help but take one step back as you had lost your balance — his hand being quick to bring your body right back to press against his, later resting on your lower back to keep you steady as his other hand firmly cupped your cheek.
“Happy birthday” you mumbled against his mouth when you had pulled away to catch your breath, feeling the corners of his lips curve up before he pressed them to yours once more.
“It is now” he hummed, drawing tender circles with his thumb on your chin and not being able to hold back a giggle when it was you the one to steal a kiss from his mouth right then.
Your breath hitched when you felt his hands made their way down your body, letting out a squeal when they grabbed your thighs and picked you up without a warning — your arms wrapping tightly around his neck and legs around his waist as his hands were firmly placed on your ass to keep you from slipping down while he walked the two of you out of the hallway and into the living room, having Yeontan run past you two and go lie on the couch.
“Yah, I just got here and you’re already going for second base?” you teased him with raised eyebrows.
Taehyung shook his head, cockily raising one of his own. “I’ve earned my right to all bases a long time ago, I don’t know what you’re talking about”.
“Don’t get too cocky, Kim Taehyung” you warned him as he sat you down on the edge of the counter, being careful enough not to knock down one of the pictures of the two of you that were neatly displaying on it. “I might revoke all your rights”.
“You wouldn’t” he daringly squinted his eyes. “Not on my birthday”.
You threw your head back, letting out a loud laugh and placing the cupcake down on the counter before you went back to his eye level. “Only under two hours until it’s over, so...”
“You wouldn’t” he repeated confidently.
“What makes you so sure, old man?”
Shaking his head in amusement and deciding not to comment on the taunting name you had just called him, he didn’t even try to hide the smirk that was curving up the corners of his lips as he leaned in. “I just know”.
Not even trying to play it hard anymore, you met his lips in the middle, humming contentedly when he placed his hand behind your neck so he could take control over the kiss he was not quite willing to let go of yet. And neither were you, which is why your eyes remained closed and your lips slightly puckered up —clearly wanting more— when he suddenly pulled away one minute later.
“Okay, now tell me my birthday present!” he demanded.
Still being too stunned by the intoxicating kiss he had just given you, it took you a second to open your eyes after hearing his muffled yet excited words against your lips — eyes locking with his excited ones as his hands unconsciously rested on your thighs.
“Oh, it’s in my bag!” you jumped up once you managed to understand what he had meant. “Let me go get it”.
Although your words were meant for him to move aside so you could get up on your feet and rush over to the forgotten suitcase on the hallway, Taehyung did not move an inch — if anything, tightening the hold of his hands on your thighs to keep you from going anywhere.
“Not that one”.
Your eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “The cupcake?” you offered, earning a light laugh from him, along with a small shake of his head. “Sex? Because I know I was just threatening with revoking that right, but since it’s still your birthday, I mean...”
Taehyung laughed wholeheartedly, once again shaking his head no as he brought his face closer to yours. “Although I would love that and will take you up on that offer later,” his bold words managed to bring some heat to your cheeks. “That is not what I meant”.
“What did you mean then?”
“Just want you to tell me something...” he hinted, gently caressing your sides. “How long will you be staying, baby?”
You rolled your eyes when it finally hit you what he had meant all along. And you couldn’t help but laugh lightly at how such simple things were the ones that made him the happiest. “Well, considering I only got a one way ticket over here this time,” your heart sped up at the way his smile grew wider at the sound of that. “And that the rest of my stuff will arrive here in a few days
I’d say I’m staying for quite a long, long time”.
“How about forever?” he smiled brightly.
You giggled, tilting your head up in anticipation as you felt him lean in to press his mouth on yours. “I like the sound of that”.
“I love the sound of that” he agreed, pressing another kiss to your smiling lips.
And you truly did, for although you were leaving everything behind, your family, your childhood friends, your culture... it was easy as long as you had him. And even though you knew there would be times homesickness would hit you like a truck, especially when the time came and Taehyung would have to go on tour with his group, you were ready to start your new life here with him. You had already lived here once for a year, after all, the only difference being you now got to live with your long term boyfriend, and, of course, that you wouldn’t have to count down the days until you had to go back home and away from him anymore.
“Everything alright?” he wondered, catching up on the way you had momentarily spaced out.
“Mhm
” you were quick to reassure him with an eager nod of your head. “Now eat your birthday treat before I do” you threatened, grabbing the cupcake that had been lying next to you all along and bringing it up to his face.
Taehyung chuckled, pressing a lingering kiss to your neck that was sweetly followed by another one. “But I have my birthday treat right here
”
Although flustered by both his words and the way his lips kept peppering soft kisses all over the sensitive skin of your neck, you stood your ground. “Pretty sure I’m your girlfriend, but oh well”.
He chuckled once more — before you could react, dipping one of his long fingers on the icing and spreading a good amount of it on your lips. “Now you’re both”.
You didn’t really get to fully laugh at his playful antics before the sound of it was muffled by his mouth sucking on your bottom lip, his fingers holding onto your chin to keep you from pulling away as he deepened the kiss — making sure to remove every last trace of icing on your mouth before he slid his tongue into it.
Breaking the kiss for a brief second for what he thought was to catch your breath before bringing your already swollen lips back to his awaiting ones, he found himself letting his jaw drop when you opened your mouth not to kiss him once more, but to bring the infamous cupcake up to it and loudly bite down on it.
“Yah, that is my strawberry cupcake!” he called you out — although trying to act mad, having a hard time hiding his smile at the way you had just covered your full mouth as you laughed whilst trying to chew right then.
“You weren’t eating it, so
” you shrugged.
Before you could take another bite, however, he grabbed your wrist, quickly moving it up to his mouth instead and shoving the entire baked good into it in just one go.
Petrified after what just happened, you stared at your now empty hand — amazed by the way he had managed not to bite into your fingers with how fast and forceful his mouth had been, before your eyes fixed on your full-mouthed boyfriend as he struggled to chew the whole thing down.
“Mine” he stated, not minding to cover his mouth as he was almost done with it already.
“I tend to forget how big your mouth actually is” you admitted, mindlessly sucking the remains of icing from off your fingers.
Taehyung scoffed, rushing to swallow down so he could properly speak. “You out of all people should know what my mouth can d—”
“You know,” you cut him off before he could pronounce that last letter and bring his cocky point across. “Booking a return plane ticket sounds really tempting right now”.
“Oh, yeah?” he tauntingly raised one of his eyebrows, pulling you closer to the edge of the counter and making you wrap your legs around his waist. “Good thing from now on those return tickets will bring you right back to Seoul”.
That was what made him the happiest. After all those years of buying ticket after ticket, all those years of having to drop you off at the airport so you could go back home, all those years of having to wait for endless months just so you could see each other for a few days, all of that, was over now.
From that night on, this was your home. You, him and Yeontan, and of course, the eventual additions that would be made in a couple of years.
And that was the best part. No matter where you travelled to from now on, you would always just go visit abroad and return right here, back to him — never again being almost about to miss his birthday, for you would both go to sleep and wake up right next to him during all the upcoming ones, just like he had ached you to do every single day ever since you got together four years ago.

The Wizard and the Warrior
Boy it’s been busy. Double shifts whenever I’ve been free and uni starting again have really been a hassle but I managed to get in some writing so I hope you enjoy this final instalment of the Eldritch Knight series! Was going to split this one in two parts but didn’t work out so sorry for that. Hope you like it! 😘
You didn’t know what to expect when you were pulled through the world away from the homey Xhorhaus but you definitely didn’t expect the sound of waves in the distance and seagulls, the subtile smell of salt water and sand and an ocean breeze to hit you when you reappeared. Upon your vision taking in the new surroundings you find yourself standing under one of the opal archways looking out over a covered market selling all sorts of goods from street foods and drinks to knickknacks and jewellery, merchants calling for the attention of the people strolling about, negotiating prices or shouting their latest discount to pull in new customers. You’re in Nicodranas.
Essek knew he made the right decision when he sees the joy and excitement on your face. His feet tap the ground and he walks instead of floating, not wanting to draw any more attention that necessary and instead just enjoy these moments with you without the possibility of people finding out who you really are. Today you’d just be normal people without the weight of the world balanced on your shoulders. Today you got to be ordinary tourists exploring a city you otherwise never could. Nobody knows you’d be here.
You stroll about the market arm in arm moving from shop to shop and stand to stand inspecting wares, admiring them and listening to the stories the merchants tried to sell you. Both of you knew better and were able to easily distinguish truth from lies but that didn’t mean you didn’t like playing along every so often.
When you reached near the end of the market square the canopies started leaving gaps and eventually disappeared. Essek did his best to hide his winces whenever the sunlight was particularly bright. The sun was setting but it would still be another hour or so until it was fully set and he might have underestimated the brightness of the light. He didn’t let it bother him and pulled through. The slight discomfort is one-hundred percent worth looking upon your face as you bartered with another merchant.
Essek was partially blinded from where he stood while you browsed the wares of a man selling all sorts of curiosities but he couldn’t really move elsewhere without leaving your side or stepping into the path of walking people so he stuck and stayed relying on his hearing instead. You were bartering with the man as he put prices to the things you showed interest in and you tried to get a better price because you were fully aware you could get something similar if not the same for much cheaper. Essek couldn’t do anything but admire your skill and careful navigation of this encounter showing you had not left your wits with your armour back in Rosohna.
Once you got a good deal you bought your findings; a wide sheer shawl more like a thin blanket to wrap around your shoulders as you knew upon nightfall the breeze could bring a chill, a decorated silver bracelet with an inset purple gem that showed silver specks like stars whenever it caught the light just right and something else
Once done you pulled Essek aside into the full cover of one of the canopies and Essek was thankful for the break.
You’d expected Essek to have broken or admitted to his discomfort before when you noticed him wince every time the canopy lifted upon the wind and allowed the sun to bleed through right where he stood. You knew drow senses are attuned to darker spaces and in turn therefor experience a sensitivity to daylight.
“Will you stop being stubborn and just admit when something bothers you?” You say sternly as Essek rubs his eyes to get rid of the dark spots clouding his vision. When he sees the look you give him he bites his lip in shame. Apparently he hadn’t done such a good job of hiding it after all.
“I may not be able to do anything about the sunlight but I can do this.” You take out a parasol of a dark grey almost black colour with ornate lace designs added to it. It does enough to shield those under from the light and should prevent Essek from experiencing downsides of his drow heritage. Before he can protest you link your arm with his again holding the parasol above the two of you and shield yourselves from the light.
“Don’t worry. You can thank me by providing your company over a meal with me until the sun sets and we can go outside again without you burning off your retinas. I know just the place.” You smile as you begin leading Essek away to a different part of the city. You may not be the most familiar with Nicodranas but you know how to get to most places you’ve been before. You know your way from this market square to the Lavish Chateau so you begin leading Essek in that direction.
“There’s a great fish and chips shop on the way near Tidepeak I don’t think that kind of street food is really your style.” You say as the Tidepeak comes into view.
—————
Meanwhile the Nein and Verin stumble out into the teleportation circle room at the Tidepeak. They cracked the code and figured it out based on the list of places Verin had found among Essek’s notes. They knew exactly where Essek was going so it wouldn’t be much effort to find you two right? What harm has a little spying ever done to anyone? Maybe don’t answer that question. They had come for their own reasons be that to watch an epic romance unravel, dig up some dirt to tease or blackmail either of you with, or simply to keep the others in check.
“Shit. Should we have send a message?” Jester panics looking around for the goblin that usually helps them on their way and informs Yussa of their arrival.
“Not again.” Beau exclaims in exasperation. Yes again. And again they explain to Wensforth this is a matter of the utmost importance and expediency and they couldn’t have sent a message beforehand or lost too much time. Wensforth luckily for them didn’t have it within him to question their strange reasonings as he escorted them out of the tower and left the to their business.
—————
Within the Lavish Chateau you found out Essek had made a reservation and the guards and servers seemed to be extremely welcoming and attentive to the both of you for some reason you raised an eyebrow when a top shelf bottle of wine was brought out and left at your table once your glasses were poured and you awaited your food.
“Do I want to ask how you did all this?” You swirl your finger around gesturing to your surroundings. “Because last I was here, not even the daughter of the Ruby of the Sea and her friends get this kind of attendance.”
“Then perhaps it’s best you don’t ask.” Essek smiles proudly.
“How many of the Nicodranian nobility have cleared their debt with the Dynasty or reminded of their indiscretions then?” You ask giving him a look over your glass as you take a sip of delicious wine. Top shelf really is worth it.
“I thought you weren’t going to ask.” You hook your ankle around his from under the table and pull your leg back, Essek briefly loses balance but not enough to throw him off and fall from his seat. He gives you a disapproving and teasing look as you laugh. Food is served and just like everything, it’s perfect. Essek really put in the work to make this all happen and if the sunlight hadn’t thrown you off his schedule you can’t even fantom what else he had planed for your date. Though, he didn’t seem to mind the change of plans a single bit.
Pleasant conversation about everything and nothing all the same, asking questions so trivial you didn’t think Essek would ever even have been capable of being so relaxed and free of responsibility. When it falls silent for a second and Essek catches you staring at him in thought he studies you closer.
“What?” Essek asks as you hum.
“Just thinking?”
“A copper for your thoughts then?” Essek puts his glass down. He doesn’t want to pry or ask out of turn but he is curious as of what got that dreamy expression on your face when you retreated within your own mind for that moment.
“All of them?” You grin.
“If you are willing to reveal them.” Essek returns to your surprise, fully aware of the meaning behind your words and yet he still plays along. These kind of moments are rare with Essek unless you are completely alone so you’ll revel in the fact that he lets go like he does right now and hope you’d be able to see this side more often.
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want you to get all flustered upon my voicing certain thoughts.” You tease, mischievous look in his eyes as he leans in on his elbows on the table and tilts his head amused.
“Then perhaps keep it limited to your most recent ones? For now at least.” You snort and almost choke on the sip of wine you took bur recover quickly. You definitely didn’t see that one coming.
“Oh so he does play the game in public without shame. You are full of surprises today, aren’t you?” You drop the teasing and turn to your observation. “I was just thinking I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so carefree. I’d love to see this side of you more often if you’ll let me.” The teasing drops from Essek’s face and his expression turns into one of genuine affection.
“I’d love nothing more.” Your glasses are refilled as the crowd begins gathering for the performance of the Ruby of the Sea.
—————
The Mighty Nein and Verin follow Jester leading them from place to place on the list but no matter how much they search they can’t find you. Last they heard you were seen buying some stuff from a merchant and then nothing so they had resorted to going down the list until they’d found you but still nothing. Over an hour had passed and the sun long since set, lanterns lit to lead the ways.
They search high and low following the list Verin had found but don’t find you and Essek anywhere. Nicordanas is a big city and turns out finding a buff pretty person and a hot boi drow are a lot harder to find than they initially thought. So, having given up the search they instead turn to a place to drink and wallow in self pity for not spying on the date. Jester knows just the place
No better place than the Lavish Chateau. Maybe her mom will even perform tonight!
When they reach the Lavish Chateau the crowd’s already gathering but with sheer determination and the threatening of some they make it through and find a table, their drinks served as Jester goes off to say hi to her mom before the performance. Then of course Verin and Beau ask about a couple, describing you and Essek having come through here. Instead they’re pointed to a private table out of the direct sight of the entrance but in full view of what is to be the Ruby’s performance space, and if Beau knows anything, a really really expensive bottle of wine shared between the two of you as you sit around laughing and engaging in happy conversation.
As they watch, Essek and you suddenly being the most interesting thing in the entire room they notice a blush creeping up your face as you twirl one of the flowers in your hair returning an equally daring comment of your own, your fingers dancing over the back of Essek’s hand outstretched towards you until he closes his hand and grasps them. You gasp and giggle as he intwines your fingers with his and you making a comment that sends a deep purple crawling up the wizard’s cheeks. The Nein watch, some swooning at the cuteness, the others in surprise and a hint of disgust akin to that of watching your sibling be sugary sweet romantic with their partner you do not want to witness, and the rest like encouraging friends glad their friends have found happiness within each other.
The performance is about to begin and you spot a blue tiefling running down the stairs as quick as she can darting to one of the tables. You already had the feeling you were being watched for the past fifteen minutes but thought nothing of it as since no action was taken yet and the crowd grew, if it were assassins or the likes again, they’d have come for you before as to not make a scene. Getting confirmation your friends had tracked you to Nicodranas and found you here. You’re not surprised but rather impressed and the addition of what clearly looks like a drow soldier of some repute with features similar to Essek lead you to believe this must be his infamous brother he’d been complaining about plenty of times. You move your chair as if to get a better view of the performance to come and sit right next to Essek. You weren’t the only one who noticed them.
“Do you think they know we know they’re here.” Essek leans into your shoulder as he speaks.
“No. Not this time but if you weren’t so caught up in admiring me you’d have noticed them first.” You lean in closer, whispering into his ear as you speak.
“You are quite distracting.” Essek defends with a laugh.
“I’ve seen Beau and your brother gag and complain twice now. Is this the point where we return the favour and give them a show to remember?” You suggest with a glint of mischief within your eyes.
“How could I refuse?” Essek’s word are enough for you to further provoke the Nein and take it up a notch, or several.
“Tell me if something makes you uncomfortable and I’ll stop.” You halt your teasing and allow your tone to turn more serious. Essek does the same when you do.
“Only if you promise to do the same.” Essek doesn’t know if it’s the wine or your shared desire to make them suffer for interrupting your date like they did. Probably the latter. Most definitely the latter. Let them squirm.
The Ruby comes down the stairs singing and everyone hangs onto her every word, her entire being like she’s a siren from the depths ready to lure in hopeless sailors. As her performance continues you move yourself closer to Essek until your sides are pressed together. Essek’s arm wraps around you pulling you close into his side and to your surprise, onto his lap. You lean your head against his shoulder and whisper sweet nothings, as you play with the fingers of his free hand lovingly. You pay attention to the performance, little attention needed for this display of affection as it comes surprisingly natural and unrestrained to the both of you.
You lift your head and lean towards Essek, but an inch away from his lips, making eye contact as you whisper something to him but the Nein can’t hear over the singing and you’re too far away to lip read for anyone. It’s so frustrating but holy hells, they never knew Essek had a romantic bone in his body, let alone the guts to drop his composed and emotionally constipated side completely around you. They definitely didn’t see this coming and even Beau could relate to Jester’s possible ideas of turning this into some kind of smutty romance novel because that’s what it looked like.
When you leaned back, always teasing and never close enough to actually kiss, you watched the performance more. Both you and Essek admired the show the Ruby was putting on. Her song as beautiful as she is but you might have connected with her a little more than anyone else in the room because when she passed your table and saw you and Essek she gave you a knowing smile. A knowing smile that showed she knew exactly when a performance was being put on, the courtesan’s ability to read people shining through once more when she winked at you before she turned around and found her way to the table of the Nein, distracting them from you and pulling the attention to herself.
Essek was surprised and didn’t really know what to make of what just happened but next he knows he’s being pulled away from his seat by you and dragged to a side exit, abandoning the table mid performance. Out in the street you take off running and then it hits him; a moment of privacy. You played everyone, even him in the end when you appeared to have your attention fully on the Ruby of the Sea but instead you had a nonverbal agreement with the woman. Regardless of his thoughts you kept running towards the eastern edge of the city, through the gates and to the beach. Freedom.
The moon and stars and city lights within the walls as your light source you pulled Essek along to the shoreline, laughing your asses off. You’ll have to remember to give Marion a big thanks next time you see her. Once safely away from the city sure you’re far enough away from the city you slow your pace and walk side by side along the beach.
“As clever as ever.” Essek compliments as you bump your shoulder into his with a grin. You offer Essek a hand as you climb over some rocks blocking your path. Essek takes it but instead of climbing he just hoovers over without any difficulty.
“While, I’d gladly take credit I think you deserve at least half. Did you see the looks on their faces?” Your laughter rings like chimes in reminisce of your friends. It’s music to Essek’s ears.
“I could never forget.” You stop and lower yourself onto the sand, gently pulling Essek’s arm inviting him to join. He does and sits down next to you as stare at him.
“Today was a good day. We should do this more often.” You sigh in content. There’s just something about the drow and the starry night sky behind him that makes him look so ethereal, you could look at him for ages and never get bored.
“Being run out of a city by our friends for a moment of privacy?” Essek deadpans and you playfully shove him.
“While it was certainly eventful I think I could do without uninvited company next time.” In comfortable silence you both watch the view. Moon reflecting on the ocean, sound of gentle push and pull of the water against the shore and the thousands of stars scattered throughout the sky giving the both of you a sense of warmth and comfort.
“You certainly found your courage tonight. I never thought you capable of such intimate displays of affection.” You comment and Essek turns his gaze to you. Despite the low light you notice the slight darkening of his cheeks a he takes in a breath.
“I partially blame the determination to push my brother’s buttons.” You snort.
“And the other part?” Essek decides to humour you with and answer even though you hadn’t expected one.
“You, as my partner in crime as some might say, made it easy to put on such a display. Though, I will admit to not being so open and frivolous in my affection with an audience, I did enjoy them nonetheless.”
“Well then, I’m glad my frivolous affection brings you joy.” You say and Essek is about to correct himself for his words but stops when he notices you holding back your smile. You know exactly what he meant and when Essek notices it’s his turn to gently shove you. You gasp even though you’re physically unmoved.
“Aren’y you all courage tonight? Careful now or I’ll toss you into the ocean.” You jest.
“It seems both of us have not been lacking any courage this night.” Essek comments and he’s right. With the antics of the day, and your grand escape, you might never have had it been any other situation. You really did enjoy it and wouldn’t change a single thing. Well, maybe add something but there’s no time like the present so maybe you’ll just ask.
“Then, in a bout of courage, I will ask you this. May I kiss you?” Essek does a double take in case he heard your words wrong but the expression written all over you confirms he has in fact heard you loud and clear. Still he doesn’t miss a beat in his answer. He’s already made up his min.
“You certainly may.” With that you close your eyes and lean in placing your lips onto Essek’s in a gentle kiss. No pretend, no faked lust or intimacy but honest, clear and unrestrained emotion. When you pull away you’re both smiling like fools.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.” You whisper as Essek leans in carefully to kiss you this time, lips moving together in a slightly deeper kiss. His hand finds your cheek holding your face lightly caressing a thumb over your cheekbone.
“I could say the same.” Essek speaks when you pull apart for a moment, foreheads leaning against each other. Many more kisses follow, varying from gentle and sweet to passionate and deep, whatever suits your needs. You have no intention of getting off this beach near Nicodranas any time soon nor do you have anywhere to be so here you’ll stay enjoying each other’s company until the sun rises.
From behind the rocks not too far away, eight people watch the wizard and the warrior finally do what some of them had hoped they would in the months they’ve gotten closer. Others are turning away while maybe peaking through at times, solely to see their friends happy with each other despite the chaos of the world but not without going right back to quieting their gagging noises of ‘not wanting to see the people who they consider their family making out’.
“Oh my god! This is going to be so good, you guys. They’re so cute!” Jester whispers already taking notes and working out the story in her head. It’s going to be an epic love tale of two star-crossed lovers for sure. Maybe she can question you on the more spicier details later, get this book to sell at the Chastity's Nook some day?
“Ugh. Let’s go. I can’t watch this any longer. Drinks?” Verin doesn’t resist and follows Beau, Yasha and Fjord back to Nicodranas. Caduceus has a bit more difficult of a time to drag the cleric and rogue away as the latter enabling her actions instead of giving you some much deserved privacy. He succeeds eventually leaving you and Essek behind to enjoy the rest of your night with a smile. Nothing better than people finding their own happiness.

Chapter 2: What are you gonna do?
It had been a week since Y/N stepped foot into her apartment. She currently sat curled up on the couch in Kiyoomi’s living room, her eyes never leaving the screen in front of her. She hadn’t shed a single tear since the day she broke down refusing to give Hajime Iwaizumi a second thought. Yachi and Kiyoko sat curled around her, snuggled close and giving their friend the comfort they knew she needed. The slamming of the front door alerted the females in attendance that someone was home. Y/N merely waved a hand, eyes never leaving the screen, and Tooru sighed softly. “She any better today?” He questioned Kiyoko quietly as the woman made her way to the kitchen to prep more snacks. Kiyoko shook her head in response, shrugging her shoulders. “She only threw her phone twice, so that’s a start?” she hoped, pulling out Y/N’s favorite bag of chips to refill the bowl. “Anything happen at school?” Yachi asked, making her way behind Oikawa to pull some drinks out of the fridge.
The man scoffed, popping a cap off the coke bottle, and taking a long deep chug. “That asshole is playing the fucking blame game.” he seethed, slamming his drink down. “I heard him telling Terushima that he and Y/N were on a break right now, something he called for because she was “too much.” he hissed putting air quotes around the words ‘too much.’ “Then Makki and Mattsun tried spreading lies about her, but Saeko and this really hot guy in her Econ class tried to beat the shit out of them.” Kiyoko nodded along half-listening until it registered that her girlfriend now knew about the situation. “You didn’t tell Saeko what happened yet did you Tooru?” she hissed, her body turning toward Y/N to ask for her phone.
Before Tooru could answer, the front door slammed open and Saeko Tanaka stood at the entryway, with a bat in one hand and some picture frames in the other. Y/N turned at the noise, and waved before turning back toward the television in front of her. It took her a good thirty seconds to realize her doom was standing at the door, as her head toward Saeko her eyes as wide as plates. “Get up brat!” Saeko snarled, pointing her bat towards Y/N. “You’ve been wallowing for a fucking week, and I refuse to let you wallow any longer over a fucking loser like Hajime Iwaizumi.” she growled, slamming the pictures on the ground. “Babe, maybe you sh-” Before Kiyoko could finish she was interrupted by a hiss from her girlfriend. “Absolutely not. The lot of you let her sit here and wallow for an entire week! A whole fucking week! Over a loser like Hajime Iwaizumi, when our girl has the pick of any fucking guy on campus!” she screeched, swinging the bat around. Behind her, Bokuto, Atsumu, and Sakusa had returned from practice. “And you!” she hissed, glaring at Sakusa. “You’re supposed to be her best friend, and you just let her sit here and zone out for a week; when she should be out there proving those stupid fucking rumors wrong!” Sakusa was ready to fight with Saeko, as he always was; but Y/N came between them, wrapping her arms around her angry blonde friend. “Thanks for always looking out for me.” she mumbled into the woman’s shoulder, her body shaking with quiet giggles. “Course I’m gonna look out for you brat, you’re my best friend. You have the pick of the fucking litter here, don’t let a piece of shit like Iwaizumi make you feel like you don’t.” Y/N tipped her head back, a loud laugh falling from her lips as she made her way to the kitchen. “I love the faith you seem to have in my ability to snatch up a man Saeko, but I doubt I have as many options as you say I do.” she mumbled out, missing the looks shared by the three athletes behind her. “Oh sweetheart,” Saeko cooed, “You have no idea the power you hold.” Turning around Y/N was ready to ask her friend to elaborate, but she found herself over Bokuto’s shoulder and on the way to the backyard. “Now girlie, we’re gonna smash these picture frames, and then you’re gonna tell me what your next move is gonna be.” Saeko ordered following behind the big burly man.
In a penthouse on the other side of the campus, Suna Rintaro sat with pro-streamer Kenma Kozume and his roommate Kuroo Tetsuro. The three men streamed often, and Kenma always split the money between the three of them. As they played, the answered questions from fans. As Suna looked toward the comments, he grinned at the stream of comments coming in about what Saeko and Osamu had done earlier that day. “Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the beating; but knowing Saeko it was probably well deserved.” Suna replied, as Kenma and Kuroo turned toward the man, curiosity plain on their faces. Kenma turned toward the screen, his eyes scanning through the comments, widening slightly at the amount of comments about the fight. “What the hell did they do to piss her off?” Kenma asked, looking toward Suna for an answer. Suna grinned, happy to steer the conversation to something that he knew would cause more strife in Iwaizumi’s life. “Well, about a week ago it came to light that Hajime Iwaizumi had been stepping out on Y/N, L/N Tokyo Uni’s goddess for quite some time.” The fans went crazy, when they saw the way Kuroo snapped his controller. “He did what?” Kuroo hissed, eyes narrowing with rage. “She caught him bringing a girl back to their place.” Suna informed, smirking when he saw Iwaizumi’s username coming online. “Apparently, he had forgotten the plans they had, and brought a girl home; only for Y/N to answer the door.” Kenma scoffed, tossing his controller aside. “I always knew he didn’t deserve her. Absolute piece of shit.” he grunted, pulling his phone out to check his messages. Suna nodded in agreement, scrolling through the comments. “I told him last week, that she was fair game now, so it’s time to come up with a game plan boys.” Suna grinned, winking at the viewers in the stream. Kenma smirked, sliding his phone over to Kuroo. It was a picture of Y/N smashing pictures of her and Iwaizumi, a bottle of Tequila in one hand and a baseball bat in the other. Kuroo chuckled matching Suna’s smile. “She’s got no idea what she’s in for.” and the viewers went wild.
Iwaizumi could be found swearing and breaking things in his apartment, having watched Kenma’s stream. He knew he was absolutely fucked, if they decided they were going to pursue Y/N. He could barely stand a chance against Suna, let alone Kenma and Kuroo. Mattsun and Makki were nursing their wounds unable to fully grasp the severity of the situation at hand. Hajime still had a sliver of hope, that if he just gave Y/N the time she would forgive him. Completely unaware of the fact that he had already lost.

when worlds collide
kozume kenma x fem!reader [LDR]
Tumblr media
[a/n: hehe this gif is cute đŸ„șthis was buried in my drafts so I edited it a bit, I’m slowly getting my motivation back so uhh yeah, enjoy! -yours truly, bunnyy -`჊Ž- ]
He met you during one of his late night gaming sessions. You had tried to speak to him in English and he felt kinda bad for not being able to formulate a good response. Boy was petrified when he mumbled to himself about how cute your voice was and you had responded in Japanese.
From then on, there was frequent chats on discord and whatnot before the both of you had built up the courage to finally do a video call. He realized he was in love with you when you had joined his Minecraft server with Kuroo, Lev, and Hinata. You had gotten along with them so well. Just hearing you joke around and tease them made his heat happy.
He was hesitant to confess since you guys were 5,000+ miles away AND there was a 16hr difference between the two of you. Kuroo talked some sense into him and he ended up telling you while he was visiting your Island in animal crossing...it was so wholesome.
After getting a hang of each other’s schedules, things got easier and since it was summer, the both of you had time goof off on minecraft or on animal crossing, or just be on video call and send each other tik toks and memes. However, lately there had been a strange lull in conversation and whatnot. The distance was starting to take its toll on the both of you. He had just gotten accepted to the same Uni that Kuroo was currently attending, they had moved into an apartment off campus together because Kuroo absolutely despised his current roommate.
“So, how’re things with (y/n)?” Kuroo asked as they both carried the last boxes into the living room. There was a small silence that followed before Kenma sighed rather heavily and Kuroo just knew that it wasn’t good.
“Honestly, I don’t know...I thought they were going well but lately there’s been a weird lull. We’ll talk but it’s always very short before she’s making up excuses to go or something.” The edges of his lips twitched downward as he plopped down onto the couch.
“You didn’t make her mad or anything, did you?” Kuroo was trying his best to act neutral. He knew the reason you had been “ignoring” his buddy lately and he was trying to keep it on the down low.
“I don’t think so? I’ve tried to think of anything I could’ve said or done but I can’t think of anything.”
“Maybe she’s just busy? Isn’t she also just starting her freshman year of uni?” Kuroo quirked an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right but still...she could’ve just said so.”
After Kuroo had cheered up his best friend, they ordered some pizza and he had told you that you might want to put your plan in motion sooner rather than later.
You had just gotten off the plane when you received his text and reluctantly agreed. Sweats and dark under eye bags isn’t really the first impression you want to make but you really did just want Kenma to finally hold you in his arms. The thought was almost overwhelming.
Getting into the taxi, you gave the address that Kuroo sent you and you were on your way. It took a few hours but you finally arrived and made your way inside and to the elevator. Heart pounding as you slowly approached the door. You could hear the familiar sounds of Mario Kart muffled through the door, with a shaky hand you tapped your knuckles against the door. Basically hearing your blood rush though your ears, your heart almost stopped when the door opened.
“Well look who’s finally here.” Kuroo whispered before completely stepping out and closing the door behind him. He pulled you into a quick hug and introduced himself. “Are you ready?”
“Uhm y-yes and no...” He chuckled at your shaky response and opened the door again, motioning you to step inside. Taking a deep breath, you stepped passed the threshold of the door, pulling your luggage behind you. As you walked down the hallway, your breath hitched and your eyes started to water as you caught sight of the familiar head of “pudding”colored hair.
“Kuroo what’s taking so lo-“ he turned, freezing when his eyes met yours. His voice was much more soothing when it was unfiltered, much fuller and deeper.
“Hi sweetheart...” your voice cracked the slightest bit as you noticed his eyes glossing over.
“Oh my god, (y/n).” He got up from the couch, remote violently clacking onto the floor as he rushed over to you. You barely had time to react as he pulled you into an embrace, arms wrapped tightly around your waist. Tears had finally started to trail down your cheeks as you wrapped your own arms around his shoulders and buried your face in the crook of his neck. “I can’t believe you’re here...”
Kuroo smirked, his own eyes watering a bit as he walked into the kitchen to give you two some space.
“I can’t believe it either.” As you said this, he clutched onto you even tighter, afraid that if he let go, you’d disappear. Much to his dislike, you pulled back just a bit. Hand coming up to gently caress his cheek. Warm amber eyes gazing into yours.
“C-can I...can I kiss you?” Cheeks turning a deep pink as he asked, to which you immediately said yes. Heart swelling at the fact that he wanted your permission first. He held your chin deftly between his fingers and with the utmost gentleness, pressed his lips onto yours. It took you a moment to process what exactly was going on but you had finally melted into the kiss, lips moving together languidly with want. Needing to finally feel each other’s lips moving in sync. Turning your head the slightest bit, he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. The feeling of his tongue foreign yet welcomed as you tangled your fingers into his soft blonde locks. A small groan leaving his throat.
“Alright alright! If you’re gonna be like that then get a room!” Kuroo groaned, making both the both of you jump away from each other. “I don’t wanna listen to the two of you sucking face like that.” He childishly gagged. Your cheeks burned furiously at his words, choosing to bury your face in Kenma’s chest instead.
“Don’t tempt me to take that offer.” The cocky tone in his words shocked both you and Kuroo. “But since we’ve already got the switch set up, why don’t we play something.”
Kuroo offered you some pizza, which you gladly accepted and you made your way to the live room. The three of you played for a couple of hours but when your eyelids started drooping and you were constant falling off the maps, they decided that it was enough for the night.
“Come on, let’s get you to bed.” Kenma whispered, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. You weakly protested as Kuroo pried the remote from your fingers.
“You’re falling asleep at the wheel (y/n). That’s extremely dangerous.” He snickered. After brushing your teeth, you snuggled into bed with Kenma. This was kinda like when the both of you would be on FaceTime before in bed and sleep but a thousand times better.
“When do you have to go back?” He asked, hand under your shirt and tracing random words and shapes into your skin.
“...I’m not going back.”
“Huh?” He tried not to seem too excited but you could definitely tell. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, I got accepted to yonsei. I’ll be going to school with you guys.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He was slightly upset that he wasn’t able to celebrate with you.
“Well, I didn’t want to ruin this plan or give you any false hopes just in case I wasn’t actually accepted.”
He sighed and pressed a kiss to the crown of your head, “Well I’m glad you’re here.” He chuckled softly when you yawned a couple times. “I’m sure you’re very tired from your flight.”
You nodded, humming in agreement. “It was a long 12 hours but I’m here.” Your voice was slurred with sleep.
“Go to sleep kitten, I’ll be right here when you wake up.”
Neither of you separated the entire night. So when Kenma woke up, there you were. Head resting on his chest, shoulders rising and falling with every breath you took.
It was well passed 12 in the afternoon but he didn’t care, he’d stay there with you in his arms for a lifetime.

How do you passive aggresively say fuck you in flower? Part II
Summary: It seems that Nico and Will just cant stop running into each other
A/N: FIRST WEEK OF EXAMS OVER, ONLY ONE WEEK TO GO!! Unfortunately, I am not able to write a lot due to tedious revision but I wrote this part 2 a while ago and thought that today would be the perfect time to release it! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy and comment! <3 from me!
Read on AO3           Read Part I on tumblr
They were not expecting to see each other the next day at Uni. In fact, Will was so shocked, he had to pause and squint at the raven haired boy to check that he was the same as the customer 2 days ago. What was this dude doing here? This was the medical college!
Oh shit, what if he’s a new med student or a transfer student?
However, while it seemed that Will had noticed Nico, it seemed that Nico had not noticed Will; he couldn’t have been more appalled as he was ignored and he simply watched in despair as the italian jogged past him without a moment's pause. Not even a Hey, you’re the guy I made out with yesterday, right?
Will was used to having all his past hookups follow him like a sheep and sure, he hadn’t really hooked up with Nico but he was for some reason expecting some sort of reaction from him. Was he that forgettable?
He felt someone dig their elbow into his ribs and was about to shout What the fuck before he realised that Calypso was elbowing him.
“Calypso what!” He winced as he rubbed at his side, still in pain from Calypso’s pointy elbows.
“Do you think I should invite Leo to the dorm party?”
Will’s head perked up. “ Leo? Leo valdez?”
“Yes Leo Valdez, who else?” Calypso sighed.
“I thought you saw him making out with some guy at another party and then proceeded to pretend you never liked him in the first place-”
“- Which is true! I never liked Leo in the first place, he was just a friend!” Calypso desperately defended.
“Everytime someone says they’re just a friend and not they’re just my friend, you know that they’ve crushed on them.”
“Shut up.” Calypso whacked her bag over Will’s head, ignoring his shouts of protests.
Will’s hands instinctively went over his head, tucking his chin in to prevent himself from gaining any brain damage from Calypso. “ Hey, Hey! I work for you, little shit!”
“Exactly, I can fire you any second I want to!” Calypso boasted before remembering something. “ Wasn’t there a request that came in on Saturday? Something like fuck you?”
Will could feel the blood rushing to his cheeks. “ Uh, yeah, maybe. I don’t really remember.”
Calypso recognised that tone. That tone was the same tone used during the walk of shame, that tone meant things that she did not want in her shop. Turning her head only halfway, she gave Will a grimace, praying that it hadn’t happened again.
“William Andrew Solace, Please please tell me that you didn’t have sex with another client in my shop!”
“For once,” Will smirked. “ For once, I can actually say that I didn’t.”
Calypso sighed in relief, all the tension in her body simply oozing out all at once. Her shoulders dropped and the tense expression on her face was replaced by her regular small smile that she constantly wore, causing her to seem quite shy, which technically she was.
“You know, you seriously have some nerve Callie, hitting your employees like that. That could be harassment. What happened to the shy girl who could tell me the latin name for any plant out there?”
“Just because I don’t hook up with every good looking breathing thing, does not mean I’m shy.” She put her hands on her hips and took several confident steps while swaying her hips before hitting a hard chest with a thud and feeling the hard floor on her butt. Frustrated, she huffed and without even looking at the perpetrator, began to shout,
“Are you blind or stupid? Look where you’re going for fuck sake.” She ignored the offered hand and got up herself, brushing her scraped hands on her pants.
It was only when Will nudged her, not very discreetly may I add, that she noticed that it was Leo Valdez who was offering the outstretched hand and another very scary looking dude standing by Leo. However, something about him seemed familiar- from the shape of his body to his hair and in particular his jawline. She remembered seeing it somewhere.
Fuck, that was the guy Leo was making out with at that party. She realised.
Simultaneously, Will was thinking- Fuck, that was Nico di Angelo.
“Sorry Leo, Calypso,” Will turned to her, completely avoiding Nico. “ Do you have anything you’d like to say to Leo?”
Claypso gave a bitter look to Will before remebering that Leo fucking Valdez was standing infront of her and she had essentialy told him to fuck off. She had to fight the blush rising to the tip of her ears and could only manage to muster a small pipsqueak of ‘sorry’ while looking down at the floor and having her face curtained by her chestnut hair.
Unexpectedly, she felt a hand move the hair out of her face and slip and finger underneath her chin and tilt it up slightly.
“The least you could do while apologising is look at him,” Nico snarled, standing off to the side, watching as Leo brushed her hair out of the way. Leo turned his head to raise an eyebrow that meant Not cool dude before looking back at Calypso, his eyes warm and his smile generous.
“Sorry about him, he’s running low on social interaction juice. Are you okay there?”
Calypso thought she could feel herself gaping- the worst part was that her little shit of a friend Will pointed it out.
“Close your mouth Callie, you’ll get flies. It’s impolite to stare as well,” Will drawled, his eyes still glued away from Nico. Leo glanced at Calypso’s injured hands, the small scrapes and the little cuts across her palms. His frown was cute, with his eyebrows scrunching up and his eyes pooled with concern as he took her hands in his.
“Oh, Dios mio. I’m so sorry- will you forgive me if I clean these up for you?” Leo held her hands gently, as to not hurt her.
Will butted in before Calypso could respond. “Uh, no, that’s not necessary. I can help her from here!”
Nico snorted. “ Yeah, the med- student definitely knows how to clean up his cuts.”
Will growled in response, unappreciative of Nico’s sarcasm. Leo’s frown in concern only grew, the small displays of guilt visible across his face. “ Are you sure? It’s the least I could do after causing you to fall.”
“No it's fine-”
“-Will, calm down. Yes, I’ll go, but you also owe me,” Calypso confirmed. You know your worth, you know your worth, She chanted in her head.
“Well well, a person who knows what they want, of course, I am in your debt. After you.” Leo pointed to the pavement ahead as he left Will and Nico alone. Nico looked Will up and down before letting out a little snort and walking off, not before giving him a little shove with his shoulder as he walked past.
Will was officially outraged. Who the fuck did this guy think he was? First of all, he was barging into the medical college when he didn’t even attend it, then he was barging him to the floor without even apologising and then laughing about it!
Will turned around while still on the floor and yelled. “Who the fuck do you think you’re pushing dipshit?”
Will really thought he had the upper hand. He was taller, felt he was relatively stronger and his reflexes were okay. But when he saw Percy Jackson, Jason Grace, Piper Mclean, Hazel Levesque, Frank Zhang and Annabeth Chase all crowd round Nico, he felt he was the most screwed person in the world. Luckily for him, no one except a girl with brown skin and confused expression turned around.
Will recognised her as Piper Mclean- she had been voted most beautiful girl in the entire Uni. It was rumoured for a while that she and Jason were dating but ever since Will spotted Piper blushing near a new girl, he highly doubted it. Piper raised an eyebrow and Will gave a sheepish smile as he tried to get up.
Piper scurried over, giving her friends a quick wave before running over to help Will. He accepted her hand, mainly because he was terrified that she may kill him if he didn’t.
“Did Nico knock you down here?” Piper asked as Will heaved himself up. Her voice was sweet, soft and had some element that convinced Will that he could trust her; however, at the same time, he didn’t want to snitch on Nico. He gave a blatant shrug and hoped for the best.
“Don’t worry, Nico always teases people he likes. Little idiot isn’t good at showing any emotion other than being horny or being an arsehole.”
“Are you sure those are emotions?”
“I take psychology so I sure as hell hope they are,” Piper confessed, laughing a bit. Will finally realised why everybody considered Piper so beautiful- she wasn’t just a pretty person, she was a nice person. She went out of her way to help others.
“I take medicine so I’m going to hope for the best that Nico doesn’t kill me. He avoids like I’m the plague then acts like he’s planning on murdering me in my sleep.”
“Wait.” Piper paused before turning to Will with a manic grin on her face. “Are you the guy from the flower shop who made the fuck you bouquet and slept with Nico?”
“We didn’t sleep together!”
But Piper wasn’t listening, she was calling Hazel over. Will watched as a girl with gorgeous dark skin that glowed in the sunlight and a tattoo over her left hand turned her head ever so slightly. Will realised why they called her Death’s sister.
She was undoubtedly beautiful but her silent aura was terrifying, like it was driving you to death itself. Large brown eyes that invited you into the darkness and hands that looked sculpted for leading one to their doom.
“Hey Hazelnut! This is the guy who stole Nico from Leo! And he made the Fuck you bouquet that Annabeth gave Percy!”
Will could feel his heart pounding as Hazel left the group and walked slowly to Piper and Will, her expression never changing. Suddenly, when she was close enough to throw a punch, she broke out into a childish grin and started squealing.
“So you’re the one who made Percy that bouquet!” Hazel grabbed Will’s hands and started shaking them excitedly. She giggled before giving them back to him.
“What does making Percy this bouquet have to do with any of this? I only knew Nico because we made out like once and then the fucker blanked me.”
“That’s my little brother you're talking about,” Hazel warned. Will instantly felt his eyes widened in horror before apologizing profusely; he remembered what Nico had told him about his sister and how the two of them had grown up. Hazel laughed before telling him that she was only joking and that he should let loose a bit.
“Was Nico with Leo when he ignored you? Leo Valdez? About yee tall, messy brown hair and ink on his overalls?”
“Yes
” Will nodded.
“Ahhh, that explains it. Those two have a complicated history. He was probably ignoring you because he and Leo might have gotten back together. Or maybe he just didn’t want Leo to know that he made out with you. Or
” Piper let out a grin that Will had no desire to learn the true meaning of.
“Maybe he was just using Leo to make you jealous,” Piper explained, very much used to the drama herself between Nico and Leo. If it wasn’t Percy and Annabeth, Nico and Leo were almost always in an argument.
“So
” Will was deadly silent for a second while his rage began to simmer. “ Are you telling me he cheated on that Leo kid with me?”
“ I really hope not,” Hazel grimaced, looking back at her brother.
“The little fucker,” Will muttered under his breath as he pushed past the two ladies and made his way towards the remaining group. He didn’t care that he was going to run into Percy Jackson, whom he’d had an underlying grudge with for as long as he’d been going to school, he was furious.
How dare he cheat with him. What was Will, some slut who ruined relationships? Hell no. Sure, he slept around but he didn’t go around getting into relationships and creating drama. One night stands were his protocol.
“You!” Will pointed at Nico viciously, his finger almost touching Nico’s nose. The rest of the group simply watched with amusement as Piper held back Jason, whispering who exactly Will was.
“You little cheating seething whore! What the fuck dude! You just make out with whoever you buy shit from?”
“I don't remember you having much of a problem with it.” Nico shrugged, only infuriating Will that much more. He was so tempted to just punch him then and there, in front of everybody including 6 of the most intimidating people he’d ever seen.
“I don't remember you mentioning you had a boyfriend before you jumped me,” Will spat. Nico seemed a little shocked at that comment, his lips shaping into a small ‘o’ before he let a sultry smirk spread across his face in a manner that showed he was relatively proud of himself, only pissing Will off so much more.
Why was the damned bastard smirking?
“Huh, what boyfriend?” Nico turned to Annabeth. “ Hey, Annie, do I have a boyfriend?”
Annabeth looked down at her watch for dramatic effect. “As of 4 months, you have been boyfriend free,” She started and only continued when she saw the smug look on Nico’s face. “That said, that does not mean you have been booty call free for said months.”
“What do you mean!” Nico cried.
“Oh shut it Nico, everyone knows that you and Leo have been playing each other’s booty call for ages now. Just end it and go out with the florist dude,” Frank scoffed.
“Or don’t! The florist dude sounds like a real ass!” Percy cut in, desperate to not let Nico go out with his lifelong nemesis, William Andrew Solace.
“Oh look, it’s Perseus,” Will taunted. Percy felt himself going red and the entire group went quiet. Will looked around, wondering why everyone was silent.
“Oh, you guys don’t know?” Will smirked, looking directly at Percy, the knowledge on the tip of his tongue. “ That’s what everybody called Percy in middle school, after we learnt the myth of P-”
The rest of the sentence was muffled as Will felt a hand wrap itself around his mouth. He looked up and saw the sea green eyes that read Shut the fuck up . Will, feeling nostalgia from this certain situation, smirked and stuck his tongue out, licking Percy’s hands, eliciting a yelp of disgust from Percy.
“Dude! Why do you always do that! Every fucking time I’m trying to shut you up, you pull shit like this!”
“You’re telling me that wasn’t the first time you tried to ‘shut him up’?” Nico and Annabeth both asked, hostility floating in their voices. Will gave a jolly smile at Percy who groaned and wiped his hands on Will’s shirt, muttering ‘gross’ under his breath. Will shoved Percy who proceeded to make a face back.
“How do you two know each other?” Frank asked, completely confused before Hazel went up on her tiptoes and began whispering in Frank's ear while he nodded along.
Nico, sick of Will’s attention not being focused on him butted in. “ Did you come all this way to flirt with Percy or what?”
Percy and Will both gagged and shivered, the idea of liking each other being just gross.
“I’m here because you son of a bitch, used me!” Will cried, flinging his arms out.
Nico raised an eyebrow. “I did?”
“Your boyfriend, booty call, whatever you wanna call them- was right there and I was just some pawn for you-”
“-If I wasn’t talking or paying any attention to you whatsoever, how on earth would I make them jealous?”
Will didn’t respond, his mind racking for answers, excuses, insults he could fling at the raven haired boy. He noticed he wasn’t wearing his lip ring that day.
“I think you should focus on the fact that Leo and I just so happened to be at the Medical College despite our majors being nothing related and we just so, by chance, crashed into you and your friend,” Nico hinted. He was a bit tired from how oblivious this blond guy was- hadn’t he made it obvious?
Will took a while to connect a few dots, but the problem was that he only connected the exact dots that Nico did not want him to connect.
“Wait, so Leo does like Callie? Is that why you guys are here?”
Nico wanted to fucking facepalm.
Saturday
The shop bell rang. Calypso was sitting at the counter with her apprentice, Meg. They were both chatting, something to do with the variation of a certain dandelion- Will wasn’t very sure.
He was sporting a daisy chain around his wrist that Meg had forced him to wear and a pink rose had been braided into his hair after much argument with Calypso that the thorns would hurt, in which she retorted that she’d obviously clip the bloody thorns.
When the bell rang, none of the three workers really snapped their heads up. But when the bell rang, and then rang and then rang again, they slowly lifted their heads from their conversation. Will, who had been leaning his elbows on the counter to talk to the two ladies, turned his head to see 8, very unwelcome people, walk into his shop.
Nico was standing there with all 7 of hids friends- Percy, Annabeth, Frank, Hazel, Piper, Jason and Leo. All of whom were very much not welcome in any way whatsoever in this shop.
“What are you doing here?”
The friends all glanced at one another before a few sputters of laughter were spread out. Nico, who was wearing his lip ring again, walked forward and picked up a red rose, twirling the thorny flower in his two fingers, ignoring the small prick it made.
He noticed the blood trickling down his thumb and lifted the injury to his lips.
“Didn’t I tell you last time...” Nico asked, his voice teasing but also malicious, a small corner of his lips stained red. “That you’ll be seeing a lot more of us?”

Found Families - Home is Where the Hart is - Chapter Twenty Five

Patton awoke slowly to light streaming into the room, providing a pleasant warm morning glow to the otherwise darkened room. Dee’s hair tickled his nostrils as he breathed in and hugged him close to his chest as Virgil softly snored, the peaceful expression so drastically different from the pain-fuelled one from the night before brought a smile to Patton’s face. He hadn’t planned to fall asleep but he was glad he did. Last nights nightmare and panic attack was so severe, it had been a while since his last one, especially one so bad. Virgil had told him previously that Patton’s presence was comforting for him, particularly in the aftermath of a panic attack or flashback, so he usually stayed until Virgil fell asleep and would then return to his own room for the remainder of the night, leaving all of the emotional conversations for the following day. However, last nights breakdown required special attention and Patton felt more comfortable staying close to Virgil in case he had another nightmare.
These nights Virgil’s past trauma reared its ugly head were horrible. Nights when his mind took a hold of him and forced him to relive his most painful memories. When all of the anger and hurt he held inside his tiny ten year old body spilled out in an explosion of all of the emotions he tried to desperately to suppress. Patton couldn’t help feeling useless during these moments, there was only so much he could to combat the immediate problems and help Virgil through it in the moment. He had learned most of Virgil’s triggers and how he responded to certain types of touch, support and consolation, however, Virgil’s mental health was often unpredictable. Emile had taught him how to respond appropriately in specific situations but he constantly had to adapt his methods depending on the circumstances, Virgil’s moods and his tolerance for physical touch in the moment. They were lucky his panic attack hadn’t progressed any further and he had managed to sleep through the rest of the night.
Patton lifted his head to see Virgil and Dee curled up in each others arms, he smiled. Patton adored their closeness, they had a horrible upbringing but always had each other. Virgil was fiercely protective of Dee and Dee was attached to him at the hip, during Virgil’s flashbacks and panic attack he needed to be able to see Dee at all times to ensure himself that he was still here. It was the most effective way to calming him down by physically showing him that Dee was safe and here. Once Patton made sure they were both sound asleep and laid his head back down, allowing himself to be taken by sleep once again. Until he jolted upwards. What time was it?
Patton quickly glanced at the alarm clock. 7:45. Sugar! They had missed the school bus. They were going to be so late. Patton leapt up, shaking both Virgil and Dee awake.
“Hey, kiddos, wake up” Patton said with a sense of urgency in his voice as he roused them both from their slumber. “We all slept him, quickly get dressed,”.
Once Patton had ensured both Virgil and Dee were awake and getting dressed, he bolted out of Virgil’s room and narrowly avoided tripping over both Roman and Roman’s blanket, who was awoken abruptly by Patton’s yelp in surprise. He knew of Roman’s habit of waiting by Virgil’s door until Patton left, he had carried him to bed on one too many occasions after he fell asleep in the hallway.
“Dad?” Roman said his voice still heavy with sleep as he rubbed his eyes.
“Sorry, Roman, it looks like we all slept in, quickly go and get dressed then come downstairs for breakfast,” Patton explained as he knocked on Logan’s door before rushing off his own room to get himself dressed.
After throwing on the first pieces of clothes he could, culminating in a rather odd array of colours and pattern but he didn’t have time to worry about that now. As he left his room to begin preparing a quick breakfast - he noticed something strange. Logan’s door was still closed. Patton hadn’t heard it while he was getting it and it was entirely out of character for Logan to have slept in also. He knocked on the door. No response. He tried again. Silence. Roman, Virgil and Dee were exiting their own rooms now fully dressed.
“Logan, are you awake? Patton called out, not simply wanting to barge in, however, following another period of silence his nerves over came him and he opened the door.
The room was empty. Bed made pristinely as if nobody had ever slept there, the rest of the room was just as orderly. Logan was obsessed with routine. Perhaps, he had woken at his usual time but wanted to avoid waking anyone else despite the time and had been waiting downstairs for them. Patton, followed by Roman, Virgil and Dee all headed downstairs but as he reached the centre of the stairs a sweet smell entered his nostrils. It was the smell of
pancakes. He sped up, rushing towards the kitchen and the direction of the smell. As he entered the kitchen, he saw Logan standing over the sink on top of a step (so he would be able to reach it) cleaning a variety of dishes; pans, utensils and bowls, with a stack of slightly misshapen pancakes sitting on the table.
“Logan?” Patton said in surprise. He had no idea what to think? Should he be proud? Logan had prepared breakfast of them. Upset? What if something had happened while he was asleep? What if the kitchen had caught fire? What if Logan had gotten hurt and he had no idea?
“Good morning, I noticed you were still asleep so I decided to prepare breakfast to allow you time to rest,” Logan explained as he finished the last of the dishes, piling them onto the drying rack.
“Sweet!” Roman explained as he, Virgil and Dee sat at the table, digging into breakfast.
“Where did you learn to cook, Logan?” Patton asked choosing to discuss why Logan shouldn’t be cooking without supervision after breakfast. Sitting down at the table.
“I only know how to prepare pancakes, Maggie taught me the basic steps and from observing you I have memorised the process,” Logan explained as he continued cleaning instead of sitting down to eat with the rest of them.
Once they had all finished, Patton checked the time. 7:55. He had already resounded to his fate that they were going to be late. Patton urged Roman to finish getting ready, Virgil and Dee disappeared upstairs also as Patton helped Logan finish the cleaning.
“Hey, Logan, thank you for cooking breakfast but
next time you want to cook something please let me know,” Patton said. “What if something had happened or you got hurt?”.
“I-I’m sorry,” Logan responded quietly, head down as he dried the dishes. Patton knew Logan didn’t consider his own safety and was only thinking about the benefit to everyone else.
“I am not getting you into trouble but I just want you to be a little more careful, cooking can be dangerous especially while you are unsupervised. Promise me will you ask me for help if you ever need it,” Patton urged placing a hand on Logan’s shoulder and taking the dish cloth from him.
“I-I promise
I apologise Patton, I wasn’t thinking,”Logan admitted as he allowed Patton to take over drying the dishes while he sat down to finally eat his own breakfast.
“It is alright Logan, I know you had good intentions and you really helped me out this morning. But maybe next time, lets cook together, okay?” Patton said as he finished up the dishes, sent a quick text message to Emile, asking him to watch over Logan, Dee and Virgil - he explained the situation of the previous night - and a phone call to the school, explaining they would likely be late and Virgil wouldn’t be attending today. He was light on the details but they had the necessary information in his file so it required very little explanation for him to be allowed to take a mental health day. “Do you mind if you keep Virgil company for me Logan? Emile will be over in a little while and I’ll be home as soon as I can,”.
“Of course,” Logan responded as he dissected his singular pancake.
“Thank you, kiddo,” Patton said as Roman, Virgil and Dee appeared a short while later. “All right, you ready Roman? Virge, Emile will be over soon, you just take it easy today,”.
Virgil had hardly spoken at all this morning which wasn’t unusual but the expression on his face yanked at Patton’s heartstrings, his under eye circles were significantly darker than usual, his mouth was down-turned, eyes lifeless. He looked so tired. Panic attacks, especially one as severe as last night drain a lot of energy. Virgil usually slept the entire following day to recover. Today seemed like it would be no different. Virgil curled up on the sofa with Dee, drifting in and out of consciousness. Patton covered him with a blanket, pressing a chaste kiss to his forehead.
“Okay, we really need to go now,” Patton said, he hated to leave Virgil, during a moment like this but Emile would be here shortly, he would be able to provide Virgil the support he needed until Patton returned. “I’ll see you later kiddos, I love you,”.
“Bye, dad,” Virgil mumbled his soft voice hoarse and broken. Patton’s smiled. He was going to be okay. They were going to be okay.
Bang
The shot rang out. He ran
He ran and ran and ran. The fire blazed around him. The air hot and the smoke thick. Coughing and stumbling as it entered his lungs, his vision blurred and his chest burned. He nearly allowed himself to be taken by the darkness. Until he heard it. A cry. No
No
No. Not him
Don’t hurt him
Where is he? He forced himself up, fighting through the burning pain. He ran
He ran and ran and ran. It was him. His father. Big, ugly, terrifying. His face blank. Gun hanging limply from his hand. He stood motionless over the screaming child before grabbing him. He screamed. “PLEASE
PLEASE
DON’T HURT HIM
HURT ME INSTEAD
STOP PLEASE!” His father did not listen. Only kept walking. Ignoring his pleading and begging. The fire had spread. Raging all around them. Burning hot and fierce. His father stop. His brother squirming in his hands holding him out over the flames. “NO
NO
NO
STOP
STOP
DON’T HURT HIM!”. He let go.
Virgil jolted awake. Sinking his teeth into his blanket to prevent him from screaming. His chest burned as all of the oxygen was painfully squeezed out of his lungs. He tried to focus his gaze on Dee, sound asleep in his bed, reminding himself he was still here. He was still here. Not there. He was here. Alive. He was alive. Virgil pressed his hands to his chest, feeling the rapid beating of his heart beneath his palms, he counted through the breathing pattern Uncle Emile had taught him until the pained ease and his breathing slowed. He picked up his stuffed eeyore, hugging it tight to his chest as he lay back. He knew he likely wouldn’t be returning to sleep any time soon. On nights like these Patton used to stay awake with him, just talking or sitting in silence, his presence was comforting in those moment. However, Virgil had already disturbed Patton today, forced him awake to deal with his issues, made them late for school, forcing him to call Emile just to watch him. He shouldn’t disturb him. He was fine. Fine. All good.
Okay, maybe he wasn’t fine. His hands were trembling and his throat and chest still burned as if he had inhaled a lung full of ash. Virgil glanced towards his alarm clock. 3:25am. Virgil decided to go down stairs to get a drink of water. Before leaving he checked on Dee, stroking his cheek as he mumbled in his sleep. He was still here. He made sure the window was still securely locked before quietly leaving, carefully not to wake any one else as he went downstairs. However, Virgil wasn’t alone. As he descended the stairs, a soft light caught his attention. It was Logan. Curled up on the armchair. Book in one hand, flash-lighting the other. Shining it on the pages as he flipped through them. Why was he awake? Logan hadn’t slept in like the rest of them. Why was he up at three in morning?
Virgil inched forward, careful not to disturb Logan. He looked so tired. The beginnings of purple bruises had appeared under his eyes. He looked nothing like the usual pristine, put together Logan. His hair was unruly. He was dressed in his oversized pyjamas and his mask was slipping. They really were the same. They were doing the exact same thing. Both were plagued by nightmares yet refused to accept Patton’s support like he urged them to, out of the fear they were bothering him. Leading to them sitting alone, in the dark, the thoughts circling again and again and again. They were the same.
“You’re up late,” Virgil called out. Logan flinched, startled by the sudden intrusion, evidently not expecting any company at this hour.
“Virgil
Why are you awake?” Logan asked closing his book and allowing the flash-light to illuminate more of the room.
“Same reason as you,” Virgil responded as he clambered over the back of the sofa, collapsing in the centre of it.
“I
I don’t know what you are talking about,” Logan stammered averting his gaze back to his book.
“Sure, keep telling yourself that,” Virgil answered sarcasm thick in his words.
Logan’s mask was slipping. Virgil could see right through him. The tension he held in his body. The watery eyes. How he trembled despite his desperate efforts to stop. Logan was exhausted. Virgil was exhausted simply watching him fight against himself. He had returned to reading his book, attempting to ignore Virgil’s presence by not acknowledging his existence. Virgil stood, walking over to where Patton stored the extra blankets, picked out two. Wrapping one around his shoulders and the other he tossed across Logan’s lap, on top of his book and flash-light.
“Here,” Virgil said before returning his seat, creating a blanket cocoon for himself.
“Thank you,” Logan grumbled manoeuvring the blanket around his shoulders and then silence fell over them.
After a period of silence, Logan closed his book, rubbing his temples as a pained expression came over his face. It was so sad. He looked so tired. Virgil had been where he was. Holding everything inside, until it attacked. He had Patton, Roman, Dee, Emile, Dot and Larry. Logan had nobody. He was alone. Dealing with everything on his own. Refusing to open up and accept any help. Maybe, Virgil was being hypocritical. He was currently ignoring his own problems but this was about Logan. The pain would only worsen. Building and building and building until he broke. Virgil knew he hadn’t told Patton about his past yet and from his behaviour it didn’t seem like he would any time soon. Logan wouldn’t be able to keep it all inside for much longer. Virgil had tried. It never ended well. He had to do something.
“I had a another nightmare
the anniversary of my parent’s death is coming up,” Virgil said. So, he was doing this now. Logan head snapped towards him.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Logan responded presumably believing he had offended Virgil in some way.
“Don’t be
they-they were not good people,” Virgil admitted he sunk his teeth into his bottom lip, Logan was still giving him his full attention as if urging him to continue.
“He
my dad
my bio dad
he hurt me. He drank a lot because of my mum, she was never really there, she was always out with different men, he knew but he directed all of his anger on me. I took it. I took all of it so he wouldn’t hurt Dee,” Virgil said picking at his fingers nails. “My dad hated Dee, he found out he wasn’t his kid and everything got worse. I had to take care to Dee, mum was always out and dad was always drinking, she used to give me money for food and I used all of it for formula and stuff for Dee. I needed him to be safe. He was just a baby. I didn’t care what happened to me. He was safe,”.
Virgil hadn’t told anyone this in ages. It took him months to confess everything to Patton and then another six months to talk about it with Uncle Emile in therapy yet here he was bearing to all to Logan.
“Everything got worse
Dad
he came home early from drinking and found my mum in bed with another man. He shot him. He
he killed me. He was going to kill her to. I-I stood in front of her. I couldn’t let him hurt her. I thought he was going to sh-shoot me
He pressed the g-gun to my head
I thought
he was
going to
k-kill me. I sometimes wish he did!” Virgil exclaimed breathing growing faster and more erratic. “But he didn’t. He knocked me down and set the house on fire. I had to get Dee out but when I am found him
My dad was already there
He grabbed him and started carrying him away...I was screaming at him to stop
b-but
h-he wouldn’t listen,”,
Logan had moved from the armchair to the sofa, right next to Virgil. He hadn’t noticed he had moved at all.
“He c-carried him away. I-I kept screaming and begging him
B-but he wouldn’t stop. He c-carried
him
to the fire
He let him go
just
let him fall,” Virgil was openly sobbing now, tears stung his eyes, his entire body was trembling as he beginning to descend into hyperventilation. “I-I managed
managed to get him out but he got burned
really b-badly
My dad just stood there
he just stood there. I-I started screaming at him. Why? Why would he do that? He didn’t answer
He-he raised the
gun to
his head
He shot himself
Right in front of me
I was fucking seven
I was a fucking kid,”.
“I got out with Dee. My mum died because of the smoke and the house collapsed because of the fire
I-I was a kid
A fucking kid,” Virgil panted his breathing short and raspy, his hands burned with the memories of the flames searing his skin as the tears continued to fall. Why was he like this?
“Virgil, I believe you are in the beginning stages of a panic attack, I would like to help you if you would allow me to,” Logan asked inching closer however Virgil knew he wouldn’t reach out with explicit consent, he would laugh is he could. He had done this to try and get Logan to open up but here he was being comforted by him.
Virgil merely nodded, reaching his hands out, allowing Logan to take them and direct them in the correct position as he counted through the breathing routine. In for 4, hold for 7, out for 8. Virgil assumed Patton must have taught him. After several cycles his breathing began to even out but then the laughter burst out of him.
“Um
Virgil
are you alright?” Logan asked having retreated to the other side of the sofa once Virgil’s panic attack had passed, his confusion present on his face from Virgil strange reaction.
“Yeah, yeah
jesus
I thought sharing all of my trauma would help you feel comfortable to open up but in the end you ended up comforting me,” Virgil chuckled wrapping his blanket tighter around himself.
“I appreciate the sentiment Virgil, I’m fine,” Logan replied averting his gaze. Clearly a lie.
“No your not, I can tell,” Virgil stated.
“I-I
okay
okay
I had a nightmare,” Logan admitted. “My parents were also not nice people, they were obsessed with control and perfection which included me. I needed to be perfect for them. They would
punish me
if I wasn’t. Small things; food taken away, more studying
other things. H-horrible things
I-I
” Logan trailed off, hand hovering over a specific spot on his chest which was hidden by the fabric of his jumper.
“It’s okay Logan, you don’t need to show me,” Virgil’s voice softened. Logan who appeared so strong and unbothered by everything was terrified. Terrified by what his parents had done to him. He looked so small and frail, trembling as he recalled the painful memories.
“Its pathetic. So pathetic,” Logan repeated. “Why can’t I do it? Your scars were as a result of you saving your brother’s life, mine are only from my own cowardice. I let them do this to me. I let them. I did nothing to stop it!”.
“You can’t blame yourself,” Virgil urged.
“Why not? It’s my fault. I didn’t fight back. I did nothing. Its pathetic,” Logan exclaimed. Virgil could see the tears welling up in his eyes.
“No, it isn’t,” A voice called out. Both Virgil and Logan jumped at the sudden intrusion, turning towards the direction of the voice. It was Patton. Still dressed in his baby blue pyjamas. “I had a feeling I would find the two of you here,”.
Patton sat on the sofa, urging Virgil and Logan to sit on either side on him, neither had spoken since they were caught. Virgil only wrapped the blanket tighter around himself as Logan stared at his hands, twisting them in the fabric of his pyjama pants.
“I heard a lot of what you both said, I am not upset but I want you
both of you
to know I would never be upset with you for waking me up if you need me. It hurts me more to know you are suffering in silence. I am your dad. I will be here for you at all hours of the night. You kiddos are my top priority. I am here for you,” Patton said his usual goofy and bubbly personality replaced with what Virgil and Roman referred to as Patton’s serious mode. Virgil had heard the same speech on numerous occasions but he still struggled to belief him. This brain wouldn’t allow him to. “You can come to me, I want you too, there isn’t anything we can’t work through as a family. Now who wants a hug?”.
Virgil almost threw himself into Patton’s arms, revelling in the almost instant relief it provided him, as if Patton’s aura of comfort and safety dispelled all the evil from his body. Logan took a little more convincing but soon enough he was also wrapped in Patton’s embrace, Virgil took a hold of Logan’s sleeve. He wasn’t sure why he did. Maybe to prevent Logan from pulling away? Or just to remind him that Virgil he was for him? But he didn’t resist, allowing himself to be enveloped in Patton’s arms. Virgil didn’t know how long they sat there, curled up in each others arms. Logan had fallen asleep a short while ago and Virgil would likely be following him soon.
“Let’s get you two to bed,” Patton said softly, moving carefully so not to wake Logan, lifting him with ease in order to carry him to bed. Virgil staggered groggily behind him. Once Logan was put to bed, Patton entered Virgil’s room. “How are you doing Virge?”.
“Fine,” Virgil mumbled sleepily, curling up beneath his weighted blanket as Patton sat on the edge of his bed, picking up his eeyore toy, tucking it besides him underneath his covers.
“Are you sure? Today has been a difficult day for you,” Patton said running his fingers through Virgil’s fringe.
“I’m worried about Logan,” Virgil admitted, burrowing further beneath his covers.
“I know, I am too but I’ll talk to him tomorrow,” Patton said Virgil felt a little more at ease. Logan would be okay. Patton would help him. “Okay kiddo, you get to sleep now, it is late,”.
“Night, dad,” Virgil mumbled as Patton pressed a kiss to his forehead.
“Goodnight Virgil, I love you,” Patton whispered before closing the door silently.
Virgil closed his eyes, slipping into a peaceful and dreamless sleep. The weight and pain easing. Maybe he would be okay.

HAPPPYYY BOKAY THURSDAYYYYYY!!!!!!!! *que air horns* Anyways would you like to write some 80’s AU Bokay head cannons?? Like how you first met??
TYSM FOR THE ASK BB!! i’m sorry it took so long for me to get to it! this ended up being,, WAY longer than i anticipated? i just went off on one idea so this is less general hcs and kinda how we met and got together! also i made a moodboard for no reason?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OK SO this is a college/uni bokay late 80s/early 90s au!!
bo is there on a sports scholarship (likely american football or maybe rugby) and also part of one of the frats on campus!!
so he’s not trying as hard as he could be on the academics side
THIS ISNT BC HES NOT SMART
i know a lot of ppl don’t see bo as smart BUT HE IS
he’s just focusing on other things and using his smarts to plan the best parties that campus has ever seen
so as a result of his scholarship, he has to keep his grades up
unfortunately, he’s slipping in a couple of his classes and gets told he needs to find a tutor and that’s where i come in!!
i work at the academic success center (i actually did do this in college!) and so he’s one of the students that i get assigned to work w
our tutoring sessions consist of a lot of him semi flirting but also blushing?
he’s embarrassed bc he’s here to get help even tho he could have done the work he’s just kinda lazy and gets distracted when there’s a million other things on his plate
like practice and workouts and training and the ton of frat events he attends
so the flirting is a lot of “you look different today, did you get a haircut or something?” “actually i slept like 3 hours thanks for noticing” and then awkward silences
bc im over here thinking ‘WHAT THE FUCK THIS GUY IS SO HOT HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FOCUS ON SPANISH LITERATURE WHEN HE LOOKS LIKE THAT AHHHH’
at least at first?? but then he does all this cute stuff during tutoring sessions like chewing on the end of his pencil or doodling little notes in the margins of his books, or using cute photos of his family back home as a bookmark
and then it goes from just appreciating him as eye candy to ‘well shit i kinda wanna love him forever’
we go on with tutoring for a while, but eventually bo’s grades pick up and he doesn’t need the appointments anymore
both of us are a little too shy and awkward to say anything on the last session so we both go home at the end just kicking ourselves for not asking for a phone number or to meet up or anything
we don’t see each other for a while
or at least bo doesn’t see me for a while
i go to all of his home games and cheer him on but he doesn’t know bc i like to sit at the top and leave before the crowd heads out
but he’s always searching the crowd at games, trying to see if i’m there, and feeling a pit in his stomach whenever he sweeps the crowd and doesn’t immediately see me
one night some months later, after the season has ended, i’m waking back to my dorm through greek row bc i’m a slut for architecture and none other than bo is walking out of one of the large building wearing a toga, a crown of poorly painted gold leaves around his head, his face flushed, and a huge grin on his face
i stop in my tracks momentarily at the sight, wondering if i’ve actually passed out in the library and am dreaming
but then bo’s voice calling my name is ringing through the sounds of the party drifting through the open doorway behind him and he’s bounding over, the grin on his face growing
as he gets closer, i see the flush in his face and the slight stumble in his step and brace myself for impact as he crashes into me for a hug, his arms wrapping around my waist and lifting me up
“uh bo???” i’m blushing and trying to free myself from his grip ok i’m not trying that hard WHO WOULDNT WANNA BE IN HIS ARMS
but he’s just grinning and laughing before setting me down and grabbing my hand, pulling me into the brightly lit doorway and up the stairs of the house
“i’ve been kicking myself for not asking you out ages ago so let’s go out now!! we could get burgers or just walk around the city or get ice cream or go skinny dipping or —“ he cuts himself off, looking back at me with wide eyes as his smile drops for a moment while he lets go of my hand
“oh my god i mean if you want to of course i’m so sorry this probably seems so creepy and pushy —“ he babbles on, his facial expression now one of panic instead of excitement
i just laugh, still kind of thinking that i’m dreaming, and reassure him with a squeeze of his hand and a small smile, “bo no that all sounds amazing, i’d love to. i was hoping we’d run into each other too”
at this, his grin returns to his face as he continues bounding up the stairs and down a hall, before pulling me into a bedroom
“aren’t we moving kinda fast?” i tease him as i look around the incredibly chaotic room
bo turns around with a shocked look on his face before it melts into a grin and a hearty laugh as he sees the teasing look on my face
“i’m just getting changed! can’t go out on the town in a toga,” he calls over his shoulder as he walks to the closer. “don’t look,” he turns around and waffles his eyebrows at me with a grin, before pulling out a shirt and some jeans
as he gets changed, i turn around and look around the the room, not failing to notice the sticky notes littering his desk, little messages and reminders that i’d written for him during our tutoring sessions
i feel a tap on my shoulder and turn around to see bo, eyes excited and face still slightly flushed, but now fully dressed
he sees me eyeing the sticky notes on his desk and blushes even more, a hand going to rub at his neck before he’s laughing and grabbing one, looking at it affectionately before sticking it back down
“they help me stay focused, you know? remind me that i should be working hard. you really helped me a lot”
before i can respond, he’s grabbing my hand and pulling me down the stairs, out the door, and into the fresh night air
we walk around the city, getting to know each other better over burgers before getting ice cream and MAYBE SKINNY DIPPING IDK 👀
at the end of the night, we head back to my dorm, deciding to watch a movie and since “it’s close enough, and we might as well stay up to watch the sunrise”
we end up putting on a movie, something fun and light like hercules, and cuddle up on the couch, falling asleep just before the sun rises

THE WAY I COULD HAVE KEPT WRITING I-- IM SORRY THIS GOT SO LONG AHHH

The Most Stressful Time of the Year.
A/N: Just a little something I thought up over these past few days that is pure fluff. (And my first hockey player one shot, yikes, so please be nice) Hope you enjoy 😊.
Word Count: 2.1k
“Aus, hey.”
Although your boyfriend was partially aware that he was being called, he was too focused on his phone to even bother giving whoever was talking to him any attention.
“Auston?”
His brows furrowed as he read through his text conversations with you. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The two of you were talking about a possible date to the Toronto Christmas Market in the upcoming weeks before you wished him luck, and he had to put his phone away to get ready for the game in Philly.
It was a tough loss against the Flyers, and the entire team was in pretty low spirits because of it, but what threw Auston off, even more, was how when they were getting ready to leave the arena, and he finally looked at his phone again, there wasn’t a single notification from you.
He was almost positive it was nothing, but he’d grown accustomed to having at least one message from you as soon as he got off the ice. It was your thing. After every game, you would always say how proud you were and how much you loved him, regardless of the score. Auston appreciated it immensely, and although he had grown so used to such a small yet meaningful action, it still made the butterflies in his stomach flutter with affection. So, to not see a message from you after a game; made him worry a little bit.
You were in the midst of exam season at uni and up to your ears in homework, which was why you didn’t tag along for the trip to Philadelphia in the first place so that you could attend the game in Toronto the following night; maybe go to the Raptors game the night after. Before the game, you told Auston that you’d be up late finishing your assignments and would meet him at Pearson just like you usually did. What you didn’t tell him though, was just how exhausted you were with everything going on in life at the moment. Although he did ask you how you were doing on multiple occasions earlier in the day, you insisted that you were fine and made sure to not show how tired you were during a brief facetime call the two of you shared.
As soon as he dipped out of the dressing room, Auston called you. Again, it was something he always did after a game; but when he was instantly met with your voicemail
he was a bit confused. So, he sent you a text.
Auston
Heading to the airport now. Can’t wait to see you, x.
He couldn’t help but anxiously glance at his phone every time it buzzed with a new notification in hopes that it was you saying you’d gone to get a bite to eat or something. However, when the device dinged, and it wasn’t a message from you, his facial features would fall slightly, and he’d let out a sigh; gestures that didn’t go unnoticed by his teammates as they made their way through the airport terminal.
As everyone boarded the plane, Auston tried once more to call you, getting in the way of John and William as they tried to pass him in the narrow hallway. He didn’t realize at the time, but a few of the guys were watching as he began pacing and stressfully pushing his free hand through his hair once reluctantly hung up his phone after being met by your voicemail again. It was then they decided maybe someone should see what was going on.
Freddie was the one who decided to step up and ask what was up. But it still took him a few tries to actually gain his teammates’ attention.
“MATTHEWS!”
Jumping at the sudden outburst behind him, Auston was quick in whipping around to face Freddie. “Woah! What’s your deal?”
“My deal? What’s your deal? You’ve been acting weird since we left the arena. Everything alright?”
Auston sighed.
“You’re going to think it’s pathetic.”
“More pathetic than I already think you are?” Freddie quipped. “I’m kidding. Clearly, something is bothering you. What’s going on?”
With another sigh, Aus explained the situation. He said how he didn’t want to think much about it because maybe you were just busy with schoolwork, but there was also this weird feeling about it all that he couldn’t shake. What if something happened to you?
Freddie was able to see where he was coming from easily. He knew of yours and Auston’s cheesy antics, having seen it first hand since the two of you started dating, and to be completely honest, even he found it a little strange that no one could get ahold of you
 especially Auston.
“That is a little weird, not going to lie.”
“I know,” your boyfriend huffed as a flight attendant came by to say they’d be departing soon and for them to please take their seats. “I’m probably overthinking it, but, ugh, I don’t even know
”
“It’s part of your routine, man,” Freddie reasoned. “You’re worried cause you’re not used to suddenly not hear from her, any of us would be if it were our girlfriend. But, we’ll be back in Toronto in a couple of hours. I’m sure she’s fine and will be there waiting to pick you up.”
“You’re right, thanks, man,” Auston replied with a smile before getting into his seat and trying to relax for the flight home.
As soon as the plane landed and he was able to turn his phone off airplane mode, Auston stared at his phone, hopefully, thinking it would light up with just one simple message from, but still nothing. His face fell immediately, growing even more anxious as he gathered his things and exited the plane.
You ended up not being at the gate waiting for him, and that made him feel even worse. Panicked even. So, he tried calling you again to make sure you were ok.
All he cared about at that point was knowing that you were safe. He couldn’t have cared less about you not picking him up or texting him after the game; right then, all he wanted to know was that nothing had happened to you, and all would be fine. But yet, he still couldn’t get an answer.
“Hey, she’s probably at home asleep or at the library studying or something,” Mitch spoke up from behind him. “I just got off the phone with Steph, she was talking to her earlier tonight. Said she was exhausted but had a lot to work to do, I’m sure she’s fine, Aus.”
I’m sure she’s fine. No matter how many times he was told that it was becoming harder for Auston to believe. However, there wasn’t much he could do while stuck at Pearson and you somewhere downtown.
“Yeah, um, I think I’ll just stop by her apartment
Don’t think she’d be at the library this late. Think I could catch a ride with you and Mo?”
“Of course, let's go.”
The three men made their way into the city as quickly as they could with the odd late-night traffic. Your apartment was a one-bedroom in the Church-Wellesley Village. It resided above a coffee shop, and even with its small size, you never complained, despite it being in a rougher part of Toronto’s downtown core when comparing it to where Auston’s fancy condo was. You found it after your first year of university as you were moving out of student residence and had stayed there since. However, after dating Auston for as long as you have, you pretty much lived with him and had plans to not renew your lease in the spring so that you could properly move in together.
But your apartment was near your school, so it made sense that you crammed yourself up there rather than at Auston’s with how early some of your exams could be, and how much you hated waking up for them. Also, that’s where you said you were when you and he talked earlier in the day.
You liked your apartment, to put it simply, and although you’d never admit it
you much preferred being at Auston’s when he was there as opposed to alone because it didn’t quite feel like home just yet.
When Morgan pulled up outside of your building, Auston was quick in grabbing his stuff and bolting. He muttered a quick thanks and goodbye to his teammates, saying he’d keep them updated, before digging the key you gave him out of his pocket so he could use it to let himself in. He made his way up the dingy staircase to the second floor and walked down to the hall to your door, taking a deep breath before opening it and hopefully seeing you on the other side.
But your apartment was dark and empty.
Auston could see indications that you were there at some point when he switched the light on, but after a quick look through the space, he determined you were definitely not there. But where could you be? It was too late for the library to be open, he was sure someone would’ve known if you’d gone to a friend from school to study
but no one knew anything. It was as if you had vanished.
He raked his mind for ideas of where you could be, and the only other place he could think of was his condo. Again, although you never admitted it, Auston knew you didn’t love being at his condo alone. He was determined to make it feel like home for you and things were definitely progressing in that direction, but you still hadn’t moved in fully and he was pretty sure you wouldn’t want to be there on your own until that happened. But he figured there was nowhere else you could possibly be, so that’s where he headed.
It was a short Uber ride from your apartment down to where his condo was, but for Auston, it seemed like ages. He didn’t make very much conversation with the driver, just the basic hellos and how are yous, all while his knee bounced anxiously and, he wished he could just get there faster.
As soon as he arrived, he was rushing through the building's front doors and to the elevators. It took dreadfully long for him to finally get to his floor before the doors opened again and, he hurried down the hallway to his unit. He was quick unlocking the door and pushing it open, before letting out an audible sigh when he was able to see inside.
You were completely passed out. Curled up on the large sectional in the living room, surrounded by various notes and textbooks with your laptop still open on the glass coffee table. The blinds on the windows were still open, showcasing the nights CN tower light show in the distance, while Sportsnet's late-night reruns of NHL highlights played on the flat-screen TV.
Auston couldn’t help but chuckle at himself over how worried he’d gotten, but also at his relieved he was just to know you were safe.
With a slight shake of his head, he dropped his things by the door, took his shoes off, and made his way over to you. He gently scooped you up off the couch bridal style, smiling as you unconsciously nuzzled into his chest, and carried you to the bedroom. He tried so hard to not wake you, but struggled in opening the door while making sure to not drop you in the process; ultimately resulting in you being jolted awake.
“Aus?” You muttered sleepily while knuckling at your eyes. “W-when did you get home? What time is it?”
“Almost 3am,” he replied with a soft smile.
“What!? I- oh my god, I thought I set an alarm to wake me up if I fell asleep. I didn’t even see the whole game.”
“Trust me, you didn’t miss much. Was worried about you though, couldn’t get ahold of you regardless of how hard I tried.”
“Oh,” you said quietly as he laid you down on the bed and tucked you in before beginning to strip down to his boxers. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to- oh shit, I was supposed to pick you up I-.”
“You have nothing to apologize for,” he chuckled as he switched off the light and crawled into the bed beside you. The loud yawn you let out as he pulled you into his chest didn’t go unnoticed by him, and he couldn't help his smile as you instinctively cuddle up against him. “I’m just glad you’re safe. Are you ready for your exam tomorrow?”
“I think so.”
“Good. Let’s get some rest then, yeah?”
“Deal,” you answered while letting your body gradually relax as you began falling sleep again. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he replied and placed a soft peck to your forehead before holding onto you just a little bit tighter than usual, and eventually let himself drift off into a peaceful sleep as well.

You weren’t really expecting to go back to your hometown over the summer. In all honesty, you were planning on a two month road trip with your best friends, Senior year girls trip they said and yet somehow last minute, everyone's lives seemed to pull in different directions. Your family was more than happy to have you back home over the summer, but you were a little bummed you weren't doing anything to commemorate your last summer before your senior year of college.
You watched out the passenger window of your mother's car, speeding down the familiar rodes of your childhood. A fond smile found itself on your face as you got lost in the nostalgia, It had been awhile since you had returned home, and surprisingly, it did seem you missed it a lot. Your mother chatted excitedly beside you, plans she had for you all and what not, but as you zoned back in you heard her voice ask you a question.
“Hm?” You asked looking back at her. Your mother huffed as she rolled her eyes.
“Chan and his parents are coming over for dinner tonight, so you’ll need to freshen up. His friends are coming as well.”
You sat up quickly, “Chan? Like, Bang Chan, that Chan?” You asked, a little surprised. Your mother nodded, “Yes and they are so excited to see you after all these years! Chan especially. He still always made time to come over even when you were gone. His friends come over as well, they are such a nice group of boys.” Your mother added, not helping your nervousness. Your family had lived on the same street, in the same house, since the day you were born. It was the same story next door. The family next to yours had a son, the same age as you and you both had become an inseparable duo. Y/n and Chan. You and Chan grew up together all the way until college, when he decided to stay and attend your hometowns university while you traveled abroad. You couldn’t lie, the day you left Chan felt like your heart was torn in two, but over time you healed. Gradually the two of you had minimal contact, and then none. Now at the sudden news of seeing your once best friend made your heart race.
The car soon pulled into the driveway of your house and you spotted the gathering of neighbors who seemed to be waiting for your arrival. You grinned as you hopped out of the car quickly, giving friendly waves to the once familiar faces of your childhood. You smiled even wider spotting your father, barbecuing in the yard as you lunged yourself into his arms. It felt better than you’d like to admit, being home with your family like this. You heard more familiar voices and recognized them as Mr. and Mrs. Bang, you smiled at you lovingly.
“Y/n my dear! You’ve grown up so lovely.” Chan’s mom smiled, giving you a tight hug. His father nodded as you gave you one as well, “It’s great to see you again Y/n. Chan should be around here somewhere, but I’m sure he’ll find you.”
You nodded, a little on edge. You had at least wanted to prepare to meet Chan, but that didn't seem to be on the table. Would he still be the same Chan you remember? You doubted it. It made you nervous, who has he become in these past few years? You both didn’t mean to lose contact, but with the pressures of school and new found social lives, you just lost touch.
Is he mad at me? The thought crosses your brain in a panic, your family ushering you into the house so they could start the meal. Friends and neighbors flooded the halls of your home and you gave smiles to everyone, until you could hear rowdy jeers from the living room. You turned the corner to find a group of guys sitting in front of your families TV, aggressively playing Mario Kart.
“Hyunjin is cheating! There's no way he can keep getting these blue shells!” A blonde boy yelled, while another side eyed him, you imagined that one was Hyunjin.
“Well if Chan could stop red shelling me I wouldnt have to blue shell you Jisung.” Hyunjin stuck his tongue out at Jisung but you faltered as a voice turned your head.
“Guys calm down, she’s gonna be here soon.”
His voice was deeper than you thought it was going to be, and it sent chills up your spine. There he was. Chan was blonde now, but his hair still had that familiar curl to it. His shoulders seemed to be larger than you remembered and he looked even taller. The guys mumbled as they started to pack away their game, but you stepped out from behind the corner, clearing your throat.
“I mean really, you guys don't have to stop for me.”
The group whipped their head around to gawk at you, shifting in your spot. You gave a shy wave as you met Chan’s eyes, his staring wide back at you.
“Bro you didn’t say she was this hot.” Jisung interrupted, breaking the silence, earning a swift headlock from Chan. The air seemed to grow lighter as they stood up, walking over to greet you.
“Hi Y/n we heard a lot about you, we're Chan’s friends and we also frequent your house because your mom’s cooking is delicious.” Hyunjin smiled as you shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you, and thanks for keeping my parents company.” You smiled as you greeted the rest of the group. The last one was Chan. He walked up to you shyly rubbing the back of his head, his hands raking through his hair.
“Hey Y/n.” He said simply, a side smile on his face. From the social atmosphere you had with his friends, you were surprised by his sudden awkwardness. “Hey Chan long time no see.” You smiled, rubbing your arm. He didn't make an advance to hug you or shake your hand, but rather settled for a pat on the shoulder. “I think your dad finished cooking, let's go eat!” He said more so to the group as he led the way to the kitchen, you trailing behind. You were now definitely confused, but you decided to try and make the most of the night. Turns out, Chan’s friends were amazing. You found yourself laughing with them in the backyard as they told you about their adventures with Chan and what they know about you. Chan had become friends with the others during their first year of uni, and they all had been inseparable.
“He’s so much different than the Chan I remember.” You grinned, earning oooh’s from the group. “Tell us Y/n what was he like before you left?” Seungmin asked. You tapped your chin thinking, “He was always a big crybaby, he worried so much whenever I wanted to go have fun.” You glanced at Chan who seemed to roll his eyes. “Plus he wasn’t blonde. I like it.” You added, earning a quick glance from him. Chan seemed to loosen up as the evening went on, returning to the Chan you imagined. The party went great, and gradually people started to take their leave. You started to help clean up the back as you felt a tap on your shoulder, turning around to see Felix. “Hey Felix whats up?” You smiled as he helped you collect plates. “Well tomorrow, the guys and I, we're all gonna go to the beach and I just wanted to know if you wanted to tag along?” You had to admit, there was a part of you that was sad it wasn’t Chan inviting you, but you were still excited for the adventure. “Sure I’d love to!” You grinned, Felix smiling as well. “Awesome well here, that’s my number, but I’m sure Chan will pick you up to meet us!” You nodded as you put his contact info in your phone and waved goodbye. The only ones left was your family and Chans, all lounging in the house. Chan stood in the kitchen, bent over the sink doing the dishes. You smiled, walking up behind him, frowning as he took a quick step from you.
“Hey Chan umm Felix invited me to go with you guys to the beach tomorrow...that's okay yeah?” You asked with a raised brow. You could see his eyes flicker from your profile to the dishes as he gave a quick nod. “We're leaving at 8am.” He said quickly as he dyed his hands, taking his leave to the living room.
His behavior was definitely odd now. Shrugging it off you finished cleaning as you heard Chan and his family getting ready to leave. You smiled as they hugged you once more, commenting on how beautiful you had gotten, and you gave a final wave to Chan as he gave you a half smile. You shut the front door, the exhaustion from the day sinking in as you retreated to your old childhood bedroom. Collapsing onto the bed you found yourself falling asleep within minutes.
You were awoken to taps on your window. Small at first but then growing more and more persistent. Groggily, you sat up in your bed, rubbing your eyes as you headed to the window. On the lawn was Chan, a frown on his face. “Y/N c’mon we gotta go!” He called, motioning to his car next door. Gasping you checked the time, seeing it was already eight in the morning. You opened the window, “Give me like ten minutes I’m so sorry!” You called out, fumbling in your suitcase for some clothes for the beach. In record timing you sprinted down the stairs, waving to your parents as you flew out the door, jogging to Chan who was heading to his car.
“Jesus Chan I’m so sorry I overslept-” You looked at the car as he opened the door, a smile stretching your face. “You still have the jeep!” You grinned, quickly hopping in with a familiar ease. During highschool, Chan worked at the local pool every summer so by senior year he could have a car. It was a red beat up jeep, but he loved it immensely.
Chan seemed to be in a lighter mood than he was last night, as he nodded with a light smile, “Yeah I haven't had the heart to get a new car.” Turning the ignition, the jeep started as he started to back out of the driveway, one hand on the back of your seat as we watched the back for incoming cars. Soon you both were on your way. You fiddled with your hands on your lap, glancing at Chan from the side. He did seem to be in a better mood, maybe you could talk?
“Last night was super fun! Your friends are so nice.” You smiled, earning a nod from Chan. Then silence. It was almost suffocating how awkward it was, so you glanced at the floor of the jeep to see cases of Cds littering the ground. There was one in particular, a blank CD colored with sharpies which you recognized instantly.
“You still have our CD?” You asked, astonished. Chan cleared his throat as he refrained from making eye contact. “Well yeah..you made it for me in what like..middle school?” You nodded happily, putting the disc into the cd drive, familiar tunes of your childhood started to pour into the car. You laughed as the wind blew through your hair, singing along to the nostalgic songs, and even happier when Chan started to softly sing along as well. As if the weight had been lifted off of your guys’s shoulders, you both screamed along to the song, laughing with each other and returning to the sense of comfort you had made in one another.
“You had me scared Chan! You were acting so weird last night!” You huffed, earning an apologetic smile from Chan. “Sorry Y/n, but in my defense it had been years since we’ve seen each other, I wasn’t sure how we could just click like we used too.” He admitted and you nodded. “Well I’m glad we're good now, right?” You asked. He gave a swift nod as he pulled the jeep into the beach parking lot, “Definitely.”
From the car you could already see the chaos of Chan’s friends on the beach. One umbrella was up but they managed to set up a volleyball net and had coolers or drinks and food. Hopping out of the car you collected your bag and sprinted to the beach, the cheers of the others making you run faster.
“Hey guys!” You panted, out of breath from how fast you were going. The others gave you high fives and pats on the back as they took your belongings into the shade.
“There are drinks and snacks in the cooler, Changbin set up volleyball for us too!” Hyunjin grinned as he showed you where everything was. “Wow this looks great guys!” You laughed as you kicked off your shoes, relishing in the hot sand beneath your toes. Some of the guys had gone into the water and noticed the gathering so started to head back. “Hey Y/n!” Felix called, brushing his wet hair back and giving you a  friendly wave. “Hey Felix! You smiled, offering him a towel from the pile nearby. He happily took it as he started to dry himself off by you, water droplets splashing onto you. “Hey stop getting me wet!” You warned which only caused a mischievous smirk to grow on his face. “Oh yeah?” and before you knew it, you had been lifted from the safety of the sand and into Felix’s arms. “Felic I swear put me down!” You laughed as he spun you around, walking dangerously close to the oncoming waves. Both your guys’s laughs could be heard along the beach, causing Chan to look up from unpacking the extra drinks he brought.
“They look oftly close.” Seungmin commented, much to the dismay on Chan’s face. “Yeah I guess so.” Chan mumbled, setting down the last of the beverages. “What if Lix likes her Chan? What will you do?” Seungmin mused, picking up a can and opening it. Chan whipped his head towards him, “It’d be fine. Felix is one of my best friends and so is Y/n-” Seungmin interrupted, “You told us all how Y/n was like your little sister. I think you know that’s not true. I’d rethink your feelings before Lix gets in too deep.” and with that Seungmin jogged over to the volleyball game, leaving Chan alone with his thoughts.
You and Felix cackled as he held you over the waves, which were up to his knees now.
“Felix put me down or else there will be consequences!” you screamed as the waves started to get dangerously close to your feet. Felix raised a brow at you as his grip started to loosen on your body and before you could stop it, he dropped you in the ocean. Quickly standing up you glared at him, splashing him with all you could. Your laughter seemed to attract the attention of the others and soon one by one, everyone was in the waves.
The sun hot against your skin as you all tumbled on the sand, watching the others from the shore. Jisung was up on Changbins shoulders, while Minho rested on Chan's shoulders, fighting to knock one another over. With a shove Jisung managed to topple Minho into the cold water, his arms high in victory.
“I challenge you Y/n! Get on Chans shoulders!” You stopped as you heard his request. This was a game you and Chan played all the time as kids, but as he said before, things were a bit different now. You walked to the shore, looking at Chan for any signs of discomfort. He gave a shrug, “Seems we’ve been challenged Y/n. Let's show them.” You grinned as you waded into the water near Chan. His shoulders were definitely broader than before, all those years of swimming taking an effect on him. Carefully Chan grasped your hands as he went below the water, your legs carefully situated on his shoulders as he rose up. You squirmed at how high you were, but felt a hand on your thighs.
“It’s okay I got you.”
You tried to glance down at him to see his face, but Jisung charged at the both of you, Changbin surging through the water. You grinned as your hands collided with Jisung’s, shaking between the both of you.
“C’mon Chan push harder!” You called, feeling yourself slowly get closer to Jisung. As the two of your shoved each other back and forth, finally, with all your power, you managed to land one hard shove against Jisung. His eyes widened as he lost his balance, falling into the water. “We did it Chan!” You grinned, waving your hands in the air as everyone cheered. Chan laughed as he patted your leg before signaling he was letting you down. You smiled up at him, your heart fluttering because this was the Chan you remember.
This was the Chan you loved.
High fiving each other, you both made your way back to the shore where Felix stood, holding out a towel for the both of you. “Thanks Lix.” Chan smiled as he took it. You nodded your thanks as well, wrapping the towel around your shoulders. As you walked back to the picnic, you playfully nudged Chan’s shoulders. “I’m glad I get to be here with my best friend again.” you admitted, playing with your wet hair. Chan glanced down at you with a smile, “Me too Y/n.”
The rest of the day was spent playing games and simply relaxing on the beach. Soon the set began to set on the horizon, the sky turning orange and red.
“Well we actually brought stuff to make a bonfire. If you guys are down?” Jeongin offered, earning nods from the group. Together you and the others began to slowly craft a small bonfire, it wasn’t spectacular but it kept you guys warm as the night cooled down. Everyone huddled by the crackling flames as the banter passed back and forth.
“All right all right now let's get to the interesting stuff.” Jisung stood up, commanding the attention of everyone. “Hyunjin truth or dare.” Everyone groaned and rolled their eyes at Jisungs as he shook his head, “C’mon guys it’ll be fun!” Hyunjin thought for a moment before answering coolly, “Dare.” Everyone oooh-ed as Jisung grinned evilly. “I dare you Hyunjin, to swim in the ocean.” Hyunjin looked at him with furrowed brows, “Is that it? That's pretty easy-” “Naked.” Jisung added quickly, causing everyone to burst into laughter. Hyunjin scowled, but stood up, taking a running start to the waves, bits and pieces of clothes flying off. Your head turned to follow but your eyes were covered by a large hand. You stifle a laugh, “Chan I’m not five.” Chan huffed behind you, “Yeah but they forgot a girl was here.” His hand radiated heat on your face and suddenly you could tell how close he was to your back, the hairs on your neck standing up.
You could hear a splash, and a scream and you quickly moved Chan’s hand, seeing Hyunjin neck deep in the water, waving back at the group. Jisung rolled his eyes, “Yeah yeah alright let's move along, Seungmin your up.” Seungmin grinned as he glanced around the group, “Alright...Felix truth or dare.” Felix who sat a few spots away from you glanced up..”Uhhh truth.” Seungmin frowned as the group jeered, “C’mon pick dare!” Felix groaned as he waved his hands, “Fine fine dare then you bullies.” Seungmin grinned, a glint in his eyes. “Felix I dare for you...to kiss the prettiest girl here.” The air seemed to stand still.
 Wait...you're the only girl.
Seungmin grinned as he saw the shocked expression of you and Felix, “Notice how I didn’t say prettiest person, because I would have smoked all you bitches.” The group seemed to laugh it off, the energy crackling as they waited in anticipation. Felix sighed as he moved slowly, making his way over to you. A tight hand gripped your arm as you glanced back at Chan who quickly removed it, “Oh-uh sorry.” You felt more nervous without the contact as Felix gave you an apologetic smile. “Hope this is okay Y/n.” You nodded, a reassuring smile on your face. Felix gently put a hand on your cheek as he glanced at you. His eyes seemed to wander past you before returning to your face where he leaned in gently. Your eyes fluttered closed, but rather than a sensation on your lips, Felix gently placed a kiss on your forehead. He retreated back with a cheeky smile, a loud groan coming from everyone. You gave a sheepish smile, a bit relieved at his choice as you moved back into your seat. “You didn't say where I had to kiss her.” Felix shrugged as Seungmin glared at him. You tried to take a glance at Chan, but he simply smiled at the interactions of his friends as he sipped his drink. You flinched when a hand found yours in the sand, but you relished in the sense of familiarity without even having to look at who it was. Seungmin rolled his eyes, “Alright Y/n, your turn truth or dare?” You grinned, giving an apologetic shrug, “Truth.” Again Seungmin with the evil glint in his eyes, “Have you ever wanted to date Channie?” Your eyes widened as you coughed, your drink burning the back of your throat. All the boys leaned in, shit eating grins on their face. “W-what? I mean..” You were too afraid to look at Chan. “I’ve always liked Chan. We’re best friends. I have a lot of love for him.” You stammered, Seungmin grinned as he shook his head, “Tsk tsk Y/n lets just make this a yes or no question.” You panicked, nervously shifting in your spot. “I mean..if I dated him it’d be weird right? We’re like siblings?” Seungmin nodded at your answer. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t love him!” You quickly added, the group cackling at the blush on your face. You were too nervous to look at Chan as the game went on, your feelings in a jumble as the game stretched into the night.
The night went on with games and trouble and soon, everyone was yawning from exhaustion. Gradually everyone started to pack up their belongings retreating back to their vehicles. You wished everyone a good night as you and Chan hopped into the jeep. The ride back was quiet, but not in an uncomfortable manor, just one of exhaustion. You rested your head on the door, the wind chilling your body. Chan glanced around the car as he reached a hand back, pulling out an old jacket. “Here.” He smiled, gently placing it on you. You smiled as you grabbed the fabric and snuggled into it. “Thank you Channie
” Your eyes couldn’t seem to stay open as Chan turned the music up gently. The gentle weight of his hand rested on your legs curled up beside you. It felt too natural. Being with Chan here like this, with his friends, driving with him. You’d be lying if there had never been a part of you that loved Chan. He was your other half, your best friend your entire childhood. Were you allowed to have those same feelings now, years later? The love you had for him, was it even romantic? Your thoughts became quiet as you focused on Chan, softly singing along with the song on the radio, his voice low and rhythmic.
Hopeless, hopelessly romantic
You, you got me stranded
Your hand moved from propping your head up to reaching for Chan’s, your fingers easily interlocking. Chan’s thumb gently brushed your knuckles as he pulled down your guys’s street, quickly entering the driveway to his house and putting the car in park. Without disturbing you too much, he exited the car as you sleepily sat up looking around for him. Your door opened softly as he stood there, shifting in his spot. You watched him with heavy lidded eyes as he brought his arms out to you. You smiled, a warm and fuzzy feeling in your stomach as you put your arms out to him as well, Chan carefully scooping you out of the car. He seemed to have no trouble holding you and finessing his way through your front door. He eventually found your room where he laid you down on the bed gently. You hummed happily basking in the soft comfort of your sheets as Chan took a seat on the floor beside your bed. The room was dark but you could feel his head resting on the mattress as he closed his eyes. You watched him carefully from your spot before moving beside him, your head facing his. Using light fingers, you traced his features with feather like delicacy, Your traced his nose and cheeks, up to his hair and his jaw. He was the Chan of your childhood and someone you didn't know all at once. His eyes gently fluttered open watching you from the side of his eyes. “What are you doing Y/n?” He asked softly. You shrugged, your hand continuing to trace his face. Your hand danced from his ear to his chin before gently landing on his lips. You let them stay there for a split second longer than intended and you halted as you felt his hand grab yours, pressing his lips to your fingers. His head turned to look at you as he let your hand go, slowly pulling it back to yourself. “What are we Y/n?” Chan asked softly into the darkness of your room. Your heart sped up as your answer immediately tumbled out of your mouth.
“We’re best friends.”
“Are we?”
Chan paused as he glanced at you. “Before you came, I told all the guys how you were my best friend, like a sister too. Then suddenly you were here and-” Chan moved so his hand gently landed on your cheek. “You were here, and I realized you were more than a best friend to me, after all these years.” He laughed a bit, “And it didn’t help too much that Felix seemed to have taken a liking to you.” Chan pulled his hand away much to your dismay as he sat up straighter. “And I’m sorry if this ruins us. Our friendship. But I just...I don’t want to just be your best friend anymore Y/n. As selfish as that is
” he laughed gently. You watched him with wide eyes, as he stood up in the darkness of the room, leaning down to place a soft kiss on your head. “I don’t want your answer now. Think about it. Good night Y/n.”
You were left all alone in the dark.
The smell of breakfast was what woke you up. Your stomach growled hungrily as you made your way downstairs, your family seated at the breakfast table. “Looks like you had fun yesterday,” Your mother smiled as she served you a plate. You smiled, the memories of last night replaying in your head. Especially Chan’s confession. “Hey mom-” you asked as she nodded, alerting you she was listening. “Did you ever think..did you ever think Chan and I would date?” Your mother paused before laughing wholeheartedly. “I mean of course we did, Chan’s mother and I even thought you’d both get married! It was quite a shock you both lost contact.” She admitted. Your heart lurched in your stomach, so you weren’t the only one who wanted this to happen? Your mother smiled sympathetically at the confusion on your face as she placed a hand on your shoulder. “Sometimes Y/n, there's a person in the world who knows you better than anyone else. Someone who inspires you to become a better person, someone you’ll carry with you forever. Chan was the person who knew you and believed in you before anyone else did. No matter your feelings, he will always love you and nothing could ever change that.”
Your heart started to pound in your chest, everything becoming very clear to you.
You knew you loved Chan. What you didn’t know was that it was this kind of love.
Grinning you stood up from your chair, quickly running to the front of the house, tugging on your shoes. “I’ll be back!” Your mother chuckled as she waved, the front door slamming shut. “She just realized she loves him, didn't she hun?”
It takes 10 seconds to run from your front door to Chans. Which was not enough time for you to formulate what you were going to say as you already rang the doorbell. Luckily it was Chan’s mother who opened the door. “Y/n dear! What can I do for you?” Your heart was in your throat as you gave her a smile, “Is Chan here?” She smiled and shook her head, “He went for a run down to the beach, he usually spends his mornings there. Feel free to take a bike and head down there!” You smiled your thanks, locating Chan’s old bike on the side of the house. Quickly you rode down the road, thankful for this time to yourself. What were you going to say? What if he was upset? What if he regrets what he said? The beach was approaching quicker than you anticipated. The cool ocean breeze gently blowing through your hair. The entire shore was empty, but you could make out one figure close to the water. Setting the bike at the start of the sand, you moved as quick as you could, a dumb grin on your face. “Chan!” You called out, watching him turn around with a shocked look on his face. He was still far away enough he had to yell out, “Y/n! What are you doing here?” You laughed as your legs picked up speed, he was here. He was happy to see you.
Once he was close enough, your arms wrapped around his neck tightly, causing him to stumble back onto the soft sand beneath you too. You let out an oomph as you landed on his chest, a laugh emerging from both of your throats. You stared down at him, a confused smile on his face. “What's going on Y/N-” “Chan I love you.” You interrupted. He stopped, his mouth open as he searched your face for any signs of joking with him. “I’ve always loved you. You’re my soulmate Channie.” Chan's eyes glossed over at your confession as you lowered your head down, resting your forehead against his.
The waves crashed against the shore as you two stayed like that for a while, simply wrapped up in one another. You placed soft kisses on Chan’s nose and cheeks as he happily closed his eyes. He then chased your lips with his own, smiling against you, his hand rising up to cup your cheek. “I couldn’t help falling in love with you.” Chan whispered to you as you both sat on the beach together, hands intertwined.
What is a soulmate?
Sometimes, it’s like a best friend but more.

Pairing: Mingi x reader
Genre: was supposed to be 100% fluff but ended up 50% angst 50% fluff because I have no chill
Summary: Mingi has been your best friend since forever but you’ve noticed the two of you growing apart ever since his debut. At a party you don’t feel you belong at, you’re forced to face the reality of your relationship.
Warnings: lots of social anxiety
Word Count: 3.5K
Author’s Note: this got way more dramatic and cheesy than I’d anticipated but ok here we go I guess
______________________________________________________
You fiddled uneasily with the bracelet on your wrist as you stared out the window of the musty taxi cab. Outside, the black night sky was warmed by sunset city lights; you watched them pass by, your forehead resting against the cool glass. You really shouldn’t be this nervous, you kept telling yourself, pulling and squeezing the strings on the bracelet that had stood the abuse for years and somehow survived. Your heart seemed to beat out of tune, feeling foreign and uncomfortable in your chest. It wasn’t just that it was a big social event you were about to attend and you were predisposed to suck at those, no, that part strangely wasn’t what made you feel like ants had burrowed their way into your stomach. It was the fact that you’d see him again.
Mingi and you had been best friends for as long as you could remember. As kids, you’d hunted for beetles together on hot summer days, until the day one flew into his mouth and he was traumatized for life. You’d cheated on tests together, switching papers when the teacher wasn’t looking. You’d stuffed yourselves sick with salty snacks at sleepovers, falling asleep huddled together under the weight of an overload of blankets.
But you hadn’t seen him in nearly a year.
You’d always known what would happen once he debuted. You’d watched his schedule grow slowly into an endless sea you couldn’t seem to wade your way through. You messaged back and forth, of course, though you could feel even this form of contact start to dissipate as of late. Not that you blamed him. You were, aside from his best friend, his number one fan; always had been and always would be.
Mingi’s passion for music and performing had awed you since he first started rapping along to songs in his bedroom. And you were beyond proud of how far he’d come, so there was no way in hell you could ever take away from his accomplishments by telling him how lonely you were steadily becoming.
The car jutted to an abrupt halt and your head bopped against the window with a dull thud. You’d arrived, already, as in, right now.
Oh no.
Your unruly heart threatened to crawl straight up your throat and you found it difficult to breathe. It took you a moment to realize the cab driver was looking at you, a mix of puzzled amusement plastered on his face. You hurriedly paid the quite frankly unreasonable price for the drive and stepped out, immediately starting to rub your arms from the sudden cold; the jacket you wore over your dress was clearly not enough for the December weather. But you’d wanted to wear it. It had been his originally but long claimed by you and it made you feel just that little more at ease, having a part of him with you.
You hurried up to the tall building and entered into the warmth of its air conditioning. You told the lady at the front desk your name and they cleared you from an extensive list.
“That looks like quite the party list,” you said, desperately trying to lighten the mood. Your nails were digging into your arms as if they might just squeeze the nervousness out of them if they tried hard enough.
The woman raised her brows oddly before gracing you with a cold nod.
You cursed yourself as you walked off towards the elevators, inner monologue going rogue.
Why can’t you just be cool for once?
Cause you’re an idiot, that’s why.
One of the elevator doors slid open.
Empty, thank god!
You stepped in, pressed the button and leaned your head back against the clean, metal wall of the small space.
I should have just stayed home. I could have just texted him congratulations and been done with it.
You didn’t know anyone else at the party aside from Mingi. You’d met the other members of the group a fair few times during their trainee days but that felt like ages ago and according to the list, there would be so many more people you didn’t know. They’d probably all be important people; not people like you. You’d stand out. You didn’t want to stand out. You’d want mostly to just blend into the wall, sneak up to you best friend and take him somewhere quiet, somewhere calm. Not that Mingi was ever calm. He was, in a lot of ways, your polar opposite. He was fireworks: explosive and loud and bright, and you were the night sky: dark and quiet and mostly unnoticed. And yet somehow, you’d clung to each other through all these years.
A sudden bell sound made you jump. The doors opened up into a long, white hallway. You could already hear the music. It seeped in through your ears, trickled into your brain, behind your eyes and down your throat like liquid anxiety. Your whole body burned with it within seconds. But you’d promised him you’d be here, so you forced your feet forward towards the celebration.
As expected, the room was already filled to the brim with people. Your fingers tangled into your bracelet again as you took in the sight. The lights were low and music came through the speakers set up all around the room, loud enough to dance but quiet enough to talk. On the far back wall hung a large banner that read: CONGRATULATIONS ATEEZ MAMA 2019. Your lips curled up for a second at the view but the next moment a group of older men in suits pushed past you as if you were nothing but air, knocking you around until they disappeared through the doors behind you. You were too frazzled to even react so instead, you moved closer to the wall and went on observing. Most other people were huddled together in groups, talking excitedly and yup, you didn’t know a single one of them.
Lovely.
You moved along the wall without a clear plan of action, hoping to run into Mingi before you had a full-on meltdown. A drizzle of relief coursed through you as your eyes found the banquet table. You tiptoed over, eagerly grabbing both a plate of shortcake and a glass of champagne. The feel of them in your hands steadied you a bit. You leaned against the wall and sipped your drink, making a mental note to not drink too much, no matter how uncomfortable the night became. You didn’t want the night to end in more embarrassment than it would if you were sober.
Your heart seemed to jolt at the sight of him, like it wanted to jump right out towards him. Mingi was standing with a group of about a half dozen people. He was talking and they were laughing and then he was laughing and you felt a smile tug at your own lips. He looked happy; he looked healthy. You’d been so worried about him these last few months especially. He’d been complaining about joint and back pains for a while but when he was hospitalized, you nearly lost your mind fretting over him. You’d have given anything to go see him, to take care of him but your finals at uni and your two part-time jobs had prevented it from happening. You’d apologized countless times and he’d told you it was fine but you knew the opposite was true.
Maybe part of you didn’t go see him because you were afraid. You were afraid things would be different, afraid seeing him after such a long time would ruin everything. And so you hadn’t.
And now, watching him enjoy the company of newer friends, you found yourself thinking whether perhaps you weren’t really as wanted as you’d hoped.
Fear began to prickle your skin. You downed the rest of your drink and set down your plate. This whole thing was stupid. Eyes scanning the room once more, you headed for the bathrooms. You needed a moment to think. At this point, you wanted to leave but you couldn’t bring yourself to give in just yet, so you sat there on the toilet, mentally talking yourself through your panic. He used to help you through moments like this. He’d sit with you, hug you close and whisper words of encouragement, his deep voice sweet like melting chocolate in your ear. Now there was only the muffled sound of techno music, sending the hairs at the back of your neck right up.
Fuck it.
You got up and took out your phone, the childhood photo of you and Mingi you used as a background lighting up your face. Ignoring the aching feeling in the pit of your stomach, you pulled up the chat the two of you used and began typing.
[Sorry, something came up..]
A fire began to burn under your skin. You hated yourself. You couldn’t do this. Without pressing send, you jammed the phone back in the inner pocket of your jacket. This was ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Somewhere buried deep down inside you, you knew you were overreacting — that’s what your anxiety tended to do. It didn’t stop you from feeling what you felt though. You couldn’t think straight. A thought flashed through your mind that maybe, if you had a few more drinks you’d feel more confident. That was exactly the moment you realized you had to get out of there. Tonight just wasn’t the night.
You made your way through the crowd as quick as you could, head spinning from the sudden muchness of the room, the music seemed louder and so did the people. When you finally pulled open the door to the long empty hallway, you heaved a long good breath and it felt like oxygen entered your lungs for the first time since you’d left for the event. You took another breath in and then out, slow though not steady. You started off toward the elevator, trying your hardest not to let the tears that were starting to form in the corners of your eyes fall. This might be the end of your relationship. You couldn’t expect him to keep inviting you to things if you kept backing out at the last minute. You pressed the plastic button that jutted out the wall, playing with the grooves of the thing while you waited when suddenly, a voice called your name that simultaneously gave you chills and set you on fire.
You twisted around to find Mingi in the center of the desolated hallway and your heart gave its biggest tug yet, nearly pulling the ground out from under your feet. The moment your eyes met, his face lit up like he’d never felt this level of joy before in his life, a wide grin flashing across his face, eyes like little twinkly crescent moons. Without another word he opened up his arms wide, his grin turning goofy and this time you were sure the ground truly had been pulled out from under you.
Completely overwhelmed by the brilliance of him, you dashed toward your friend, burying your face into his chest and feeling his long arms wrap around you in return. His familiar scent poured into your pores, filling your soul, completing you, and your muscles relaxed properly for the first time in forever.
“Where have you been?” he asked, squeezing you closer, “I’ve been looking for you all night.”
And just like that, all your previous worries felt like a nightmare long gone, dissipated by the morning sun that was Song Mingi. How could you ever think he would throw you away like that? How could a bond so special be broken by something as silly as a bit of absence. His hands rubbed the small of your back soothingly, instinctively it seemed.
“You okay?” he asked and you felt his head move down to look at you.
You raised your gaze to meet his and clearly, the hurt hadn’t entirely left your face yet because his eyes softened and his brows furrowed. You nodded as your face moved down into his chest again, feeling your cheeks flush hot. It was embarrassing how he could read you like no other, especially during moments of weakness on your part. You wanted to be stronger for him so he wouldn’t have to worry about you all the time.
“I know this isn’t exactly your type of thing,” he went on softly and you could practically hear the smile on his lips, “but I really wanted you to be here.” His chin came to rest on top of your head and he sighed.
You closed your eyes at the sensation you knew all too well, a sense of home washing over you. You felt one of his hands move from your back to your arm, down over your wrist, where he fingered the old bracelet.
“You’re still wearing this?” he stated more than asked and you felt the vibration of his husky voice on top of your head where you connected.
“You’re not wearing yours,” you said back, feeling your heartbeat quicken against him.
He let go of the bracelet, returning his hand to the other at your back, bringing you closer. “It’s in my wallet, silly.”
You shook your head, inhaling him. “I’m sorry for being like this,” you mumbled into his blazer.
Mingi’s hands rose from your back to cup your face, squishing your cheeks playfully — something he used to do often to make you laugh.
“Shut up,” he beamed at you like an actual fucking ray of sunshine and you couldn’t stop yourself from chuckling too. “Can we go back in?” he asked, taking your hands in his, “I promise I’ll stay with you.”
You nodded once more and allowed him to lead you back into the packed room.
It felt less suffocating now he was there with you. He was like your own personal comfort blanket, your secret weapon that could make every hurdle in life seem less frightening.
He brought you to the other members first, since you’d already met them before. You found yourself relaxing into the conversation with much more ease than you’d anticipated and after a while realized you were actually having fun. The boys welcomed you like an old friend, letting you in on their jokes and asking loads of questions. After that, he introduced you to even more people, always with that same radiating smile as he pointed in your direction. You didn’t remember what you were worried about; you were loved.
And so was he. You had trouble keeping your emotions at bay all night as you watched people congratulating your friend, praising him for his hard work, noticing how it lit him up all the way from the pit of his stomach to the tips of his fingers. You wanted the world for him, you always had, and he was finally getting it. And you had the joy of coming along for the ride.
The party started to peter out around midnight, as most of the attendants were required to be at work the following day. Mingi hadn’t let go of you all night and even now, his hand kept tugging at your wrist playfully.
“Do you want to come over tonight?” he grinned down at you, “we don’t have schedules in the morning.”
You looked at him incredulously. “Since when?”
“Since we won a MAMA award, thank you very much,” he sneered, puffing up his chest.
“Calm down, tiddies,” San said, slapping Mingi across the torso, making the other guys burst out into childish laughter.
Mingi shook his head as he laughed too, following his group mates and pulling you behind him.
All the way home, the boys were absolute chaos, screaming and singing and giggling like a horde of first graders. You were tucked away in the back corner of the van cuddled into Mingi’s left arm, observing contently and wondering where they got their energy from. Back at the dorm however, it seemed like everyone was ready for some quiet time, because they all split off towards their shared rooms, leaving just you and Mingi in the living room.
“Let’s watch a movie,” he said, poking your side, “let me take this stuff off first and then we’ll choose something.” He left for his room, emerging a minute later in sweatpants and a loose T-shirt. “Here,” he said, throwing you a similar bundle of clothes, “I’ll get a movie ready, you change.” He walked over to the TV set and began fumbling with the remote.
Knowing he wouldn’t turn around to look, you changed into his clothes on the sofa behind him, relishing how they looked, smelt and felt like him. When you finished and he had yet to pick a movie, you went to the kitchen to hunt for snacks.
Mingi gave you a thumbs up when you arrived with a large bag of potato chips. He then proceeded to pull you down onto the couch with him, his whole body wrapping around you — comfort blanket activated.
He’d put on an animated movie you’d watched together before years ago and loved.
“Nice choice,” you murmured as he pulled you a bit closer to himself, until your head rested comfortably just below his shoulder. You talked quietly as you watched, commenting on the most trivial things and having the best time doing it. His free hand kept plunging into the bag of chips like a madman and you kept slapping it away scolding him for being too loud. In the end you compromised on you silently feeding him a chip every other minute, a compromise he seemed very pleased about.
“You cold?” he mumbled about halfway through, his hand already reaching for the blanket that draped over the sofa behind you. You held the soft fuzz between your fingers, humming agreeably at the feel of it. Mingi took the liberty of laying it over the both of you before once again drawing you to into him.
It was delightfully cozy under the blanket and it made you drowsy. You adored the feel of his frame against you, his warmth radiating and mixing with your own, trapped under the blanket. You noticed the hand that was draped over your shoulder and arm had started trailing little pathways up and down your skin. It was little things like these that got you. Mingi was affectionate with you in a way that came so natural yet made you feel like the most special person in the world. You wondered how he felt. He was focused on the TV screen, still munching on the chips you’d laid between his lips moments ago. After a few seconds, he caught you staring.
“What,” he chuckled down at you and you could swear he looked slightly flushed.
“Nothing,” you answered fast, hiding your own grin below the covers.
His eyes didn’t leave you. All they did was grow happier and happier the longer he stared down at you.
“I’ve missed you,” he said finally, with a smile that was only reserved for you.
You buried yourself deeper into the blanket, positive your face had turned all the way red now.
“I’ve missed you too,” you mumbled quietly but you knew he’d heard you because he replied with a cocky, “I know,” a moment later.
You shot up from the blanket and slapped him on the shoulder, trying to scowl and failing grandiosely and he laughed and you laughed and he brought you closer once again, until you were pretty much sitting in his lap, tugging you onto him, chest to chest in a dangerously warm embrace. And then he said the words you never thought you’d hear the ever-confident boy say.
“You won’t ever leave me, right?” It was barely a whisper, his breath tickling your ear, making you shiver.
Your arms wrapped around him under his as you closed your eyes, drinking in what he’d just said, drinking in as much of him as you could. Then you pulled away, but just slightly, lingering over his cheekbone for a teeniest moment before pressing your lips to the skin gently.
“Never,” you whispered back.
You felt him squeeze you tighter. “Good,” his low voice said.
You went on with the rest of the movie, feeling yourself start to slowly slip into slumber. You didn’t mind though, you were comfortable just the way you were, snuggled up into Mingi as if you were part of the same person. You molded together like clay, your bodies and scents one and the same, making you feel the most at home you’d ever felt.
Mingi was fireworks alright, but you were the night sky in which he shone the brightest.

Sendai Tech was the top university for heroes and those in hero support. Getting into uni was effortless. Graduating at the top of your class at UA was to thank for that. A lot of class 1-A went on to Sendai and some went straight into the hero business. You had been attending Sendai and working part-time patrols at Bakugou’s hero agency, he had risen in the ranks quite quickly, taking a spot in the top 5. Todoroki had also been working part-time patrols at Midoriya’s agency, refusing his father’s invitation for full time work. The both of you wanted to start an agency together so you had enrolled in the business course they offered at Sendai.
Why did Todoroki want to start an agency with you, you might ask? Well, the answer was quite simple yet still perplexing to some people. You were his best friend. Though neither of you cared to admit that the title ‘best friend’ wasn’t enough, you both wanted more than that but the fear of ruining a perfectly good friendship was strong. You had told yourself multiple times, you’d rather have him as a friend than not at all. And the possibility that admitting your feelings and not having them returned was painful.
You first met him when you were little. You heard someone crying as you made you way passed the towering fence that surrounded his home. You had been returning from playing with some of the neighborhood kids and you had offered him half your cookie. You learned his name and why he was sad. Needless to say, your hate for Endeavor started early on. You had never seen his face but you made your way to the fence every day after school to share your snacks and stories about your day with the sad boy but one day, he didn’t show up. One day turned into two, and three until you also decided to stop showing up. I wasn’t until your first day at UA did you find out what he looked like. He surprisingly remembered you and profusely apologized for suddenly disappearing and you picked up where you left off.
Natsuo and Fuyumi knew about this and would be adamant about asking their little brother when he’d finally admit his feelings to you during their weekly sibling dinners only to roll their eyes when he said, ‘She sees me as a friend and nothing more. I don’t really plan on risking our friendship with a stupid lapse of judgment.’
It was the same for Bakugou and Eijiro when you’d go get drinks with them on Friday nights. They’ve known about your crush since high school. Heck, everyone did. And they were getting tired of hearing your drunken pining about the icy-hot boy.
“Look idiot, stop crying over how much you love him...you’re ruining the vibe.” Bakugou grumbled as you pouted at him.
“There’s no need to be rude, you angry explosion freak. I will cry over a boy for as long as I want.” You slurred, taking a bite of a chicken wing.
“You wouldn’t need to cry over one if you just told him how you feel. It’s that simple.” He leaned back against the couch, lazily taking a sip of his beer. Kirishima chuckled at the deja vu that suddenly hit him.
Every Friday you’d go over to their shared apartment for beers and pizza. Usually to relax after a stressful week of school and work, and without fail, you and Bakugou would have the exact same conversation. It was like clockwork. Exactly after two beers and three or four slices of pizza later, you’d confess your love for Shoto Todoroki before turning gloomy and pouting that he’d never love you the same way. You’d usually pout while eating a chicken wing or two. This never failed to amuse the red head. No matter how much Bakugou complained, he had a soft spot for you. During your days at UA, Mina and Denki had taken it upon themselves to let you into the Baku-squad after passing the đ“‹đ’Ÿđ’·đ‘’ đ’žđ’œđ‘’đ’žđ“€. Since then, Bakugou had complained and complained but once he saw that you were powerful enough to hold your own during the USJ attack, he deemed you worthy of his respect. Thus meaning you had earned his friendship as well. Many of their classmates had gotten together after graduation, even Bakugou admitted that he had feelings for the spiky red head sitting next to him.
“Come on (y/n), you should tell him. I think you’d be surprised with how silly you’re being.” Kirishima grinned his usual happy go-lucky grin.
“Exactly! You’re not a wimp, are you? Even that idiot Deku confessed to chubby cheeks already! Are you trying to tell me that you’re wimpier than broccoli head!?”
“Maybe I am a wimp.” You stick your tongue out childishly at the angry blonde.
“I don’t remember hiring a wimp.”
“Well you did, so deal with it.” You frowned as you took a greedy sip of the beer you were nursing.
After a couple of hours later, you were drunk. Very, very drunk. And it wasn’t too pretty. You were an emotional drunk, with only two available emotions. Sad and angry. Both Bakugo and Kirishima were glad it seemed you were the former, this time around. Snuggling as you settled onto their couch.
“Uh Uh. Nope!” Bakugou tutted. “You are not staying the night.”
“But Bakubro!” You whined, hugging a pillow cushion to your chest. “You know who is in my dorm.” You looked around cautiously. “Shoto is in there.” You whispered as if it were the biggest secret in the planet.
“That’s what you get for requesting him as a dorm mate. Now come on.” He lifted you up and tossed you over his shoulder. “You’re lucky I’m switching my afternoon patrol with your morning one. There’s no way in hell I’m letting you patrol hungover.” He grabbed your bag and made his way to the door. “Eiji, give me my wallet. I’m getting her a cab.”
“You’re not gonna leave her by herself, are you?”
“Of course not.” He hissed, “What kind of idiot do you take me for? Why the hell would I leave her alone like this.” He pointed at your slouched form for emphasis.
Once out in the chilly evening, he called a cab. Thankful that there were still some running at 1am. He grabbed your phone and found Shoto’s contact, holding the phone to his ear with one hand and holding your head up with the others as he huffed in annoyance when the line kept ringing and ringing before it finally stopped.
“H-hello? (Y/n)?” The groggy voice on the other end spoke first.
“I’m on my way to drop off your idiot, half and half bastard. You better be outside to help them up to your dorm.” And he hung up. Confused, Todoroki got out of bed and slipped on a sweater and some sneakers before heading down to the lobby. Eyes squinted with discomfort at the sudden bright lights of the hallway. He stepped outside and stood at the curb. He was slightly concerned, he knew that Bakugou and Kirishima wouldn’t let anything happen to you but why did he need to help you? Did you get hurt? His thoughts were quelled when a cab pulled in right in front of him. Bakugou had stepped out first, helping you out after him and grumbling at the driver to wait.
“She drank too much. Make sure she doesn’t choke on her own vomit or something.”
“Thanks Bakugou.” He mumbled as he steadied you on your feet.
“Bye Bakubro~!” You waved cheerily.
“Yeah whatever. I expect you to be at the agency at 1pm sharp. Get some rest.”
“Yes sir!” You exaggerated a salute as he rolled his eyes and got back into the cab. Todoroki’s eyes widened when you slung your arms around his neck and cuddled into him.
“You’re so warm Shoto.” The way you had basically purred his name made his cheeks flush a deep red.
“R-right.” He cleared his throat. “Let’s get you inside.” You decided to wrap your legs around his waist, finding great comfort in being in his arms. He obliged and hooked his hands under your thighs to make sure you wouldn’t fall and as he made his way back inside, he tried to ignore the feeling of your plush thighs against his palms. Locking the door to your shared dorm behind him, he made his way to your room. He placed you gently on your bed, kneeling down to unlace your shoes and pull them off your feet.
“You’re so gentle, Sho...” you hummed sleepily, eyes closed with a cute grin on your lips. He left your comment unanswered seeing that he’d be a stuttering mess if he had. He made his way over to the head of the bed and combed your hair back.
“Sweet dreams, (y/n).” He kissed a feather soft kiss on your forehead. He chuckled when you made a soft grunt of disapproval when his warmth left you.
“Sho...don’t leave me.” You whimpered, eyes slowly opening as they shone with tears. “Don’t go.” He frowned and couldn’t help but think that there was an underlying fear with that statement, other than just wanting to cuddle. So, he peeled off his hoodie and pulled back the covers and slid in next to you. In an instant, you clutched onto him.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as he nudged your chin with his knuckle, making you look right into those beautiful bicolored eyes. You tears had started to slide down your pink cheeks.
“I don’t want you to leave me, Shoto.”
“Why would I leave you?” He was confused, he knew this could just be an alcohol induced insecurity but he knew you enough to know that the fear in your eyes was genuine.
“Because I-“ you paused, unsure if now was the time. Sighing as the liquid courage urged you to continue. “Because I like you. More than I should, more than a best friend should. But I can’t help it and I don’t want to ruin what we already have by making you uncomfortable.”
“Why would I be uncomfortable?” His voice was small but you heard it as he ran his thumb softly over your cheekbone.
“Because you don’t feel the same.” He remained quiet. He was bewildered, you had feelings for him too. He couldn’t believe it. However, you had taken his stunned silence in a negative way and started to cry even more.
“Shh.” He cooed as he pulled you into his chest. “I’ve got you, don’t worry. I’ve got you.” He decided to leave this conversation for the morning when you’d actually remember. There you two had laid for the rest of the early morning. He was always reminded that he slept better with you in his arms. There were a bunch of things that he did much better with you there. And he couldn’t wait to tell you.
You were confused but pleased when you were met with the sight and feeling of Todoroki’s bare chest. He was always so warm. Not to mention how muscular he was. You definitely didn’t mind when he’d walk around the dorm shirtless right after a shower. The feeling of bile starting to make its way up your throat, you ripped yourself from his arms and ran to the bathroom. The sudden movement startled him awake and when he heard the retching noise come from the bathroom, he was quick to get in his feet and make his way to you. Pulling your hair from your face and rubbing four back soothingly as you expelled the contents of your stomach. Once you finished, you groaned. Staying in your position hunched over the toilet bowl just in case.
“Why don’t you take a shower. I’ll make you some breakfast.” He suggested softly as he helped you up. Embarrassed, you nodded quietly, watching as he shut the door behind him. Not bothering to lock it, you stripped and hopped in the shower. While you where in there, you tried to make sense of anything that happened the night before but all you could remember was being at Bakugou’s place, then a cab, then with Shoto and—The memory of the words you had exchanged swept through your mind and you groaned. Maybe he wouldn’t remember...right?
The cool water of the shower seemed to have soothed your hangover a bit as you made your way to your room and pulled on some sweats, grabbing Shoto’s hoodie from the ground and pulling that on as well. The smell of fresh coffee called you to the little kitchenette. Grabbing a mug gratefully, you leaned against the counter and took a sip of the dark liquid.
“So...do you remember anything from last night?” He asked tentatively, you gasped and inhaled some of the coffee. You coughed, putting the mug down and cleared your throat.
“I do.” You nodded slowly, a pink blush crawling up your neck. “And I understand if you want to go, sorry if-“
“Who said anything about going anywhere.” He cut you off, there was a sly smile playing on his lips. “I never said I didn’t feel the same way.”
“...”
“What?” He seemed amused at your confusion. “Wait, are you serious?” He approached you. His arms trapping you against the counter.
“I think—no. I know.” He looked down into your eyes, one hand coming up to caress your jaw. “I love you, (y/n). I have for a long time.” His confession made you feel warm inside, your heart swelling in happiness.
“I love you too, Sho.” Your lips met in a sweet kiss, lips moving together to convey all the pent up emotions you were feeling. You smiled into it as it got a bit more passionate. Your hands coming up to run through his hair.
Breathlessly, you pulled away.
“You never need to worry about me leaving. I’ll always be here.” He explained softly, nuzzling your nose with his.
“Really?” You asked happily.!
“Mhmm, you’re mine.” And with that, his lips met your hungrily. Lifting you up on the counter, and standing in between your legs. His hands gripped your hips as he began to trail kisses down your neck. Nibbling and tugging at the skin with his teeth. “And I’m gonna show you just how long I’ve waited.” His voice was deep with lust. Tugging down the bottoms you just changed into, he sunk to his knees in between your thighs.
Needless to say, he made you his. And you had no complaints.
You showed up to the Ground Zero Agency 5 minutes late.
“Oi! I thought I said to not be late!” Bakugou shouted as you put your bag in your locker.
“Sorry, I uh got preoccupied with something.” You stuttered as you avoided his eye line as you turned to face him. He smirked when he saw the bruised skin on your neck, your hero suit barely covering them.
“Eijiro!” He chuckled wildly. “You owe me $30!” Footsteps rushed into the room and there stood the red head with wide eyes.
“Finally!” He shouted. Pulling out his wallet and giving Bakugou the money. “I’m not even mad.” Grinning, he gave you a sly look. “It was about time.”

Love Again
Synopsis: Childhood friends, to strangers, to
Nothing? Jae is quite the puzzle, figuring him out won’t be the easiest thing you do. But you do want to try.
Word Count: 4,2 k
Genre: childhood friends au!, concert au!
Warnings: none
Member: Jae, ft. the rest of Day6
A/N: I had so much fun writing this work. I tried to make the concert experience a lot like my own, although I have never gone to a Day6 concert. I gathered all my information from Google so sorry if anything is different from the actual concert!
Tumblr media
Waking up in yet another chilly morning in Korea, you think of every step that has led you in this dorm, in a country quite literally across the world from your home. The university you attended offered almost all its students the opportunity to study abroad for a whole semester, to learn, see and explore, not only the country and your studies but also one’s self.
Most students jumped at the opportunity to leave home and travelled within the first year. Not you. You wanted to keep your head in the game, to fall in love with your studies before falling in love with another country.
So there you were, only a semester away from finishing your studies, in Korea. Why Korea? Well, why not? It was so different from anything you had known back home
You figured if you were going to do this, you would go all in.
Being completely honest, K-pop definitely helped. You couldn’t lie to your own self, seeing some of your favorite artists would be a pleasure. There was a certain someone
But you brushed off the thought.
As you got ready for your day, you conversed with your roommate, Haseul, about this and that. You debated about the days agenda, finally settling on a gallery and lunch afterwards. Heading out, you felt excited, you could tell this was going to be a good day.
When you arrived at the gallery, you were instantly certain you were going to love it. You thoroughly enjoyed each painting and picture, immersed in each of their mysteries and stories. You took photos of your favorites and posted them on your Instagram story.
You tried to keep as much of this trip’s memories recorded on your Instagram. You only had a couple hundred followers and all of them were more or less people you knew, a friend of a friend and such.
As you finished walking around the gallery, Haseul grumbled about being hungry. You wanted to stick around for a while longer, a bright painting of a landscape catching all your attention, but your stomach begged to differ. You complied, allowing Haseul to shine in her own element, searching for restaurants around the area. After going back and forth for a little, you settled down at a small seafood restaurant.
You opened your phone to document yet another moment of your day, when you found yourself trying to bite down a scream at the message that popped up. You checked and checked again to make sure your eyes were not deceiving you.
The message stared back at you loud and clear: “You’re in Korea?” His username shone in bright black letters.
“WHAT THE FUCK?” you finally let out, a little too loud for the other customers’ liking.
“What? What happened?” Haseul asked, concerned. You couldn’t even speak, so you just handed her your phone.
“He replied? He actually DMed you?” she asked in disbelief.
He could only be one person of course. Park Jaehyung, Jae, your childhood best friend. You had met him at first grade, both of you a little more than toddlers. You became fast friends with the boy with big framed glasses, who didn’t like toy cars as much as you did but still played with you.
However, fate had different plans for you. After almost three years of knowing one another, you had become inseparable. A change in your mom’s career would turn that around, making you move to Canada.
You believed that to be the first time you had known heartbreak. Jae took the news just as hard. When you left, you both vowed to call at least once a week and to never forget each other. The latter was obviously easier, one could hardly forget Jae, his bright nature and big heart making it hard not to love him. The first proved to be harder. First you forgot, then him, then it completely fell out of habit. You were little kids, so he slipped your mind, until one day you didn’t even miss him anymore.
That changed around a year ago. You had met up with a few friends from uni when someone announced that his best friend would be joining the group. The minute he started walking towards you, you couldn’t mistake him for anyone else. His big glasses had changed a hundred times over, his hair was now dyed a bright yellow, but his easy smile was always the same. He was Jae.
You thought that meeting would change everything. You talked throughout the course of the night, catching up. You found out he was in a band now, he was singing and playing the guitar. In Korea! You thought you would be reconnected after that night. Apparently not.
As abruptly he walked back into your life, he walked right out. Although you had exchanged social medias, no message ever came from Jae. He was following you, but he never replied or even read your attempts at reaching out.
You were disappointed to say the least. You thought you would have a chance to actually discover the man the little boy you knew had become. You were wrong. But while before your meeting, he was a thought that came and went, a part of a funny memory, now he plagued your thoughts more often than not. Especially in the previous days you had spent in Korea.
You were shocked. After almost a year of being radio silent
This? How on earth were you supposed to react? You had been in Korea for about 10 days, why did he text only now? As all those thoughts raced through your mind, your phone vibrated in your hand.
“Where are you right now? Let me know, I’m nearby” the message read. Seemingly impossible, your heartbeat sky-rocketed. You almost felt dizzy as you looked at Haseul in disbelief.
           “I’m gonna
go” she said as she saw the new message.
You looked at her, lost and still unable to speak. She typed the restaurant’s address along with a simple “See you in a bit” and paid for the things she had ordered. After a quick kiss on your cheek and a “Good luck!”, she was out of the door.
You sat frozen, trying to calm your racing heart. You tried to look in your head, to find where this anxiety came from. Admittedly, since the last time you saw him, Jae has become a regular thought in your mind. You had followed him closely, his music and performances captivating you every time. In the process, you fell in love with K-pop.
Dowoon was your official bias, but your eyes always drifted to Jae. A crush? On Jae? It would explain a lot
But no. How could you have a crush on him, you barely knew him anymore.
Just as you managed to calm down, he walked in. The smile he gave you sent your heart on a frenzy again. He was so effortlessly perfect, clad in black jeans, white T-shirt and black hoodie.
You got up to greet him and he immediately crushed you in a hug, now several inches taller than you.
“Gosh, Y/N, it’s been too long!” he said letting go.
“I could say that I tried
Where have you been?” you asked.
          “Sorry about that
The tour was absolutely crazy! What are you doing in Korea?” he asked sitting down.
As you explained, he placed his order. You conversed over delicious food, him filling you in on his tour and you on your first impressions of Korea and your classes.
Talking to him was effortless, just as it had been when you were only children. The conversation flowed to different matters entirely as you “argued” about which flavor milkshake was better and which horror movie was actually scary. At some point, his voice got serious as he got a sip of his beer.
“I saw you were at The Rose’s live Saturday” he said.
You had to blush. You had uploaded some stories of you screeching at your bias Hajoon (yes you had a thing for drummers, so what?) and badly singing lyrics back to Sammy.
“I was” you managed “I had a blast too. They are great performers.”
“Do you listen to a lot of K-pop?” he asked.
“Yeah actually, a lot of boy groups to be exact.” You replied, not sure where he was trying to get with this conversation.
“Oh. So do you listen to my music as well?”
“Of course! I like your band’s music a lot.”
         “I see
Do you have a bias?” he asked. You could see that he was fidgeting, a sign he was nervous. So that hadn’t changed.
         “I
do. But you’re not going to like it” you told him with a laugh, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
“It’s Wonpil, isn’t it?” he asked.
“Close enough, it’s Dowoon” you told him.
You heard him mutter something under his breath, but he brushed it off when you asked him about it. After that weird exchange, he was right back to normal, laughing and teasing.
Looking at the time, you realized it should be best for you to go if you wanted to get home before Haseul screamed at you for staying out late. You told Jae and he got up.
“Where are you going? We haven’t paid!” you said.
“We have, I paid” he told you.
“No. No Jae sit down, we should split it! You being a K-pop idol doesn’t let you off! It’s not right!” you said.
“Y/N, calm down! I only did it because I wanted to. My treat, for your welcome in Korea. Please?” he tried, holding your hand.
“Fine. Ugh, you can still make me do you bidding, I hate you” you said shoving him slightly.
“Ha! You wish. You love me” he scoffed.
“Meh, you can’t prove that!” you said, walking out from the restaurant.
“Y/N! Wait, there’s another thing. Let me walk you to the subway station” Jae offered.
“Sure, what is it?” you asked.
As you walked side by side your heart felt like it would jump out of your chest. Every brush of his fingers against yours, every deep breath seemed to hit you like a ton of bricks. You tried to remain calm and not think about how much you would scream if Dowoon were here.
         “Okay so
I want to see you again. I mean I really felt like shit not being able to talk to you all those months, I wish I could change that. Things were hectic and very different back then. My agency
Well, they have let us off a tiny bit now. What I’m trying to say is, I know I was a dick. And I'm sorry. I’d like to make it up to you.” He finished.
“Jae you don’t have to. Really, I understand. It wasn’t the best feeling when you didn’t reply, but I know how it is. Did it sting a bit? Yes. Did it suck a whole lot? Sure it did, but I get it. I really do.” You told him.
“Just let me do this one thing
” he started.
“You already paid for food! It’s fine, really, especially now that you seem to want to make an effort.” You stopped him.
“Well, let me do another thing” he said, pulling something out of his pockets.
When you saw what it was, your eyes opened wide. Your mouth dropped to the floor and you had to bite back another scream. Jae was offering VIP tickets and backstage passes to one of their lives in Seoul. You tried not to fangirl too much but judging from Jae’s amused look, you weren’t doing too well. You opened and closed your mouth, trying to come up with something, anything.
         “Just come to the show
Please? If not for me, for Dowoon” he tried, pulling the best puppy eyes you had seen in a while.
         “Jae
I don’t know what to say. Thank you so much you really didn’t have to-” you started.
“I wanted to.” He said with determination, pushing the tickets and passes in your hand.
         “Thank you
so much. I’ll be there. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” You told him with a smile.
By then you had gotten to the subway station where he was supposed to drop you off.
“I’ll look for you. It’s going to be a bit busy right now, but I’ll try to see you for coffee and muffins as soon as I can. You still like chocolate muffins, right?” he asked.
“Of course I do. I’ll see you soon” you told him, wrapping your arms around his waist.
He let go first, dropping you a soft smile and turning around. Just as he was leaving you, you called back to him.
“Jae!” you called, catching his attention. “If you don’t at least drop a haha at my next meme, I’m not coming!” you threatened.
He laughed lightly, eyes closing and hands going to his stomach. Your heart did several backflips at the sight, a smile growing in your own face. He nodded in you direction and finally disappeared in the backseat of a taxi.
When you got back, you had a lot of explaining to do. Haseul was basically sitting at the very edge of the couch, ready to jump on you and shower you with questions the second you walked in. You tried to start from the beginning, telling her everything that happened. When you finally got the tickets out of your purse, she squealed with joy.
“I’m meeting my husband!!! Oh my God, what if Brian actually falls in love with me? Y/N what am I going to do?” she went on and on.
You laughed at the sight, making plans to go shopping because Haseul apparently hasn’t “Anything remotely decent to wear”. As you tucked in for the night, you thought back on your day. A smile quickly grew on your face and you fell asleep happier than you’d been in a while.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The concert day had felt too far away two weeks prior, but between your classes and assignments, exploring Seoul and meeting all kinds of new people, they flew by in a blur. Now it was the morning of the concert and you and Haseul were getting ready to hit the road, listening to a playlist Haseul made called “Day6 jams”. As you screamed the lyrics in each other’s faces, you took some pictures and finally headed to the venue.
You arrived early so you walked around, meeting fansites and getting free photocards and goodies from the fans that were there. You stood patiently in line to get your lightband and a shirt for Haseul. You talked about this and that, counting down the hours, then the minutes to the concert.
Walking into the venue, you were amazed by how many people were already there. Taking your seats, you found that Jae had placed you on his side of the stage. Taking a picture and sending it to him, you wished him a good luck and telling him you couldn’t wait to see them.
During the two weeks between your first outing and the concert, Jae had kept his promise. No matter how late or early in the day, he found time to reply to your texts, even briefly. You had met up for coffee and muffins as promised, spending hours talking and sharing stories from all you had missed in your lives.
Jae had held your hand as he walked you to the nearest subway station, making you blush like crazy. After dropping you off, he only said that he was really looking forward to seeing you at the concert, finishing up with a peck on your cheek.
You didn’t really know what to make of anything that had happened that day or otherwise. It was clear that Jae wanted you back in his life, but as what? You tried not to think about it too much, but the thought chased you at all times, unwanted. Jae was again plaguing your thoughts and staying loyal to Dowoon had never been this hard.
Your thoughts were drowned away from Haseul, jumping up from her seat and screaming.
“It’s starting, it’s starting, oh my God!” she shouted, pulling you to your feet and holding your hand tightly.
Excitement rushed through your veins as the lights dimmed down and five familiar figures arrived on the stage. The song started playing, almost shyly, tasting the waters. You recognized ‘Best Part’ and fangirling mode was: on. Screaming the lyrics back to the members, as well as the fanchants had you breathing heavily but the end of the song.
You continued being energetic and enjoying each song as the concert went on. When Dowoon stepped down from his drum set to join the boys you let out and huge scream, excited to finally catch a good glimpse at him. The ments from the boys were heartwarming, each one bringing their own colours and interacting with the fans.
You were on cloud nine, magically transformed and led through a way of notes, lyrics and feelings altogether too intense for your body to handle. You tried to stay in the moment, allowing yourself to feel Dowoon singing in ‘Wanna Go Back’, Wonpil’s melodic voice in ‘Like That Sun’ and Sungjin’s honey vocals in ‘I Smile’. Haseul held your hand tightly and cried during Brian’s parts in ‘I Need Somebody’, constantly screaming “WHO HURT YOU?”.
The boys’ solo stages were sprinkled throughout the concert, making you excited for what was to come next. Everyone was at the top of their game that night and you would be lying if you said you didn’t tear up as well at some songs.
As the night progressed, the boys took the stage to say some final words before the encore. Jae was the last one to speak up, but judging by the look on his face, he looked as happy to be there as you were. You marveled at all of them, sweaty and still pumped up from the energy the fans were giving them.
“So you guys, sadly the encore is about to begin which means the end is soon approaching” he said into his mic and the crowd screamed their disappointment, you included.
“I know, I know, sad times indeed. But I’d like to share with you all a reason why I’m so happy tonight.” He stated and the crowd screamed their support.
“Well, you see, there’s a very important person in this crowd here today, a person I cherish very much. They were lost to me for a while. But now I got them back. And I thought I’d take this moment right here to say that I love them. And I don’t think I want to let go” he finished and his gaze stayed to where you we sitting.
His gaze flashed through you, finding its target right into your heart. You were star-struck, tears filling your eyes and blurring your vision. You felt Haseul enveloping you in a hug and trying to calm you down. You could hear ‘Freely’ playing in the background as you realized the truth you were trying to avoid for too long.
The final songs passed by in a whirlwind of emotions, you trying to come back to the concert, but your mind straying away to one certain boy. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him, his eyes shining as he sang and played his beloved guitar.
As the last notes of ‘Better Better’ filled the air, the end of a beautiful concert had come at last. Final goodbyes were being said and Jae stuck around to wave to your side of the venue. You were waving back, although you doubted he would see you.
After the boys went backstage, everyone was up and in a hurry to leave. You and Haseul sat back down to catch your breaths before heading backstage.
“Are you okay?” she asked, testing the waters.
You looked back at her, giving her a smile. Since the first time you had met her back home, Haseul had been a very thoughtful friend, always taking good care of you and loving you so much with her big heart. Coming back to her, even in a strange country, felt like coming back home.
“I think I’m okay” you finally managed, easing her worried stare. “It was an intense concert
”
“It sure was. You think you’re ready to head back?” she asked, seeing the concert hall emptying.
“Let’s go meet your future husband” you told her, taking her hand and walking towards the backstage.
Showing your backstage passes to the guards, you were lead though a narrow corridor with doors on either side. You arrived at a final door that read “Artist” and had the Day6 logo right below it.
As you were pushed inside, you tried to silence your mind. You needed to be yourself, be genuine. Try to enjoy this. Walking into the room, you called “Hello?” with a small voice.
All the boys’ attention was now on you and Haseul. You tried hard not to panic and gave them a small smile which spurred them into action. They all got up to greet you together. Jae started walking towards you, a huge smile on his face. You decided to stir the pot a little, walking completely past him and into Dowoon’s arms. He laughed into your hair and your heart soared at the sound. After some hesitation, he wrapped his own arms around you and held you.
“I’ve been so excited to meet you, you don’t even know. I need you to know that I see the effort you put in. I appreciate you so much, I’m so super proud of you. I can’t wait to hear more from your singing, please keep pursuing it, it suits you so well. You are so amazing, so so talented I swear.” You rambled. You would go on, but judging by his amused stare you’d already said too much.
You moved on to Wonpil, hugging him tightly. “Hi” he said, half-laughing.
“Hey. I don’t need to tell you this but please never stop singing. Your voice touches so many people, it’s unreal. So don’t stop okay?” you asked.
“Okay, I won’t” he cutely answered back with a smile.
You hugged Sungjin quickly and stepped back to look at him in the eyes.
“Thank you for putting up with them, I don’t know how you do it. You are always deeply appreciated, I hope you know it. The way you allow every song to live through you is something I’ve never seen before. I’m sorry Jae is the way he is, I think I may have something to do with that.” You admitted
Sungjin only shook his head. “Jae is just
 Jae. Thank you though.”
You moved on to Brian, hugging him tightly. “Your songs are too fucking real. I swear to God everything you write either comforts me greatly, or touches me in ways I don’t even understand
Thank you and also what the fuck.” You told him and you both burst into laughter.
“Thank you as well, you guys are the best” he answered.
“You bet we are!” Haseul said from behind you.
Jae was purposely left for last. You had done your best not to look at him before greeting the others, afraid he would read right through your gaze and into your heart. Turning to him now, you were faced with his expectant stare. He opened his arms wide.
“Saving the best for last?” he jokingly asked.
You walked into his arms, burring your face in his neck.
“Saving the most special for last” you whispered as you squeezed his waist.
“Really?” He asked, his tone low. His whole demeanor had shifted, no trace of the joking, playful look he had given you only a second before.
“Yes really. I heard what you said out there, which was stupid by the way. Now your company is going to be all up in your ass. But I feel the same way. I think I have for a while.” You said, smiling up to him.
        “Really?” he repeated.
You laughed and buried your face in his neck once more, hugging him even tighter than before.
“Y/N” Jae started, cupping your face in his hands, thumbs caressing your cheek.
“If they make out right here, I swear I am going to barf” Brian announced.
“Nooo, look, it’s so romantic” Haseul cooed.
Jae placed a kiss on your cheeks between your giggles. “Later” he promised.
You didn’t know exactly what that promise would entail. Probably an abundance of sleepless nights, face times and texts. But you were willing to find out. For all the hugs and kisses, the smiles and the jokes.
        “We’ll see” you told yourself.

31? for the kisses prompts + snowbaz
Pulling away from a kiss, whispering words of love against each other’s lips
s/o to whoever originated the whole prof baker simon headcanon i lean into it heavy
————
Three years.
That was apparently how long it took before Baz let himself believe that Simon Snow really loved him back. Not that he ever thought Simon was lying, but he was always ready for the other shoe to drop. For Simon to realize his mistakes, to turn back into Agatha’s arms, or maybe find someone entirely new.
But now it had been three years since the night Simon kissed him in the woods. Three years since they spent a night on the floor of Baz’s childhood bedroom, snogging until their lips were sore. Three years since all hell broke loose and the Humdrum was ‘defeated’ and the Mage died and Simon’s life fell apart. And they had spent three years trying to piece it all back together.
In those three years, Simon had started a small business that he ran out of his flat, making speciality cakes and various baked goods for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and other such special occasions. Baz and Penny helped, Baz with the actual business parts and transport, Penny with baking assistance and moral support.
In those three years, Baz had shifted his studies to more closely fit what he would need to help Simon run that business, and he had managed to graduate early. This was his gap year, before he started looking into Masters programs, and he was using that free time to double down his efforts with Simon. Both in the business and in their relationship. There were points during uni where he felt he was neglecting their relationship too much, but how else would he manage to graduate early? Now he had the time to make up for all of it.
In those three years, Penny had nearly finished her own degree. She wasn’t graduating early like Baz, but she wasn’t upset about it. She loved uni, she loved her classes, and she had managed to fit in enough credits to dual-major (which Simon did not see the point or desire to do).
Also in those three years, Baz found himself falling deeper in love with Simon Snow. And he could finally let himself believe - no, trust that Simon felt the same way. It should have been obvious all along, that’s what Penelope told him all the time, but could one blame him for thinking his hero of a boyfriend would change his mind about dating an actual vampire? Penny also told him that was ridiculous, so it would seem one could blame him. But three years had passed, three years of dates and nights spent wrapped in each other’s arms. Three years of snogging across both of their apartments, snuggling together and watching terrible movies, and helping each other through their best and worst times. Three years of love, and three years of them to falling completely head over heels for each other.
Three years for Baz to realize he didn’t want to, couldn’t imagine having to, spend his life with anyone else.
“I‘m going to propose.”
Penny hardly glanced up from the book she was reading, sat across from Baz at their small dining room table and sipping at a mug of tea. She sat the mug down.
“Propose...? What? Something for the business?”
“No, Bunce.” Baz leaned across the table, covering the page she’d been reading with a hand so she would look up at him. She settled him with a glare, but he pressed on. “I want to propose. To Simon. Ask him to get married. To me.”
Penny’s glare was gone, replaced by wide eyes and a look of surprise. “Wha - Oh! Oh, Nicks and Slicks, Baz! That’s - well, that’s fantastic, isn’t it? How’re you going to do it?”
Her book was forgotten, pushed to the side as she placed her elbows on the table, more than ready for this conversation. Baz sighed.
“I... I haven’t really thought about that bit yet.” He dropped his eyes to the table top, scratching at a crack in the grain with his fingernail. “I was hoping you could help.”
Penny pursed her lips. “Well, Simon’s not you. He wouldn’t need anything extravagant or dramatic, would he?”
“I don’t need things extravagant or dramatic,” Baz muttered. Penny raised a brow at him, almost in perfect mimicry of his own signature move, and he suddenly understood how Simon felt when he did it. He rolled his eyes, unwilling to concede even if he knew it was true. “At least my plans weren’t to stop time.”
“And it best stay that way, I’ll not have you and Simon stealing my proposal.” Penny took another sip of her tea, furrowing her brows as she thought. Finally, she sat her tea on the table once more, gave Baz a small smile and said, “I may have an idea.”
—
The thing about Penny’s plan was that it was so simple, yet somehow so difficult. It took a full week of nagging Simon to take a night away from the kitchen to even set it into motion. Apparently there was a big event coming up he’d been hired for, and he was stressing over making sure everything he was making would be perfect. It was the biggest event he’d done yet, it was some posh fundraiser and hundreds of people were expected to attend. Really, it shouldn’t have caught Baz off guard when Simon bowed out last minute.
“I’m sorry, Baz, I have to meet with the organizers tomorrow with samples - I‘ve not even got half of them.” Simon sounded genuinely upset and apologetic over the phone, Baz couldn’t even be disappointed. He knew how important this was for him, and even though he felt like tonight could have been an equally important night, it wasn’t like Simon knew that.
“I’ll come help,” Baz offered.
“Oh, no, you don’t have to do that.”
“I know. I want to.”
“Baz, you’re a nightmare in the kitchen.”
“You’re a nightmare in general. We still let you help, don’t we?”
Simon’s laugh rang tight and tinny through the phone. “Alright, fine. Come help me.”
Baz really was a nightmare in the kitchen. He had many talents, Simon would argue that he was sheer perfection, but baking seemed to be his weakness. Simon gave him the simplest tasks, mix these pre-measured ingredients, melt the chocolate, things he would have to try to fuck up.
Simon, however, was graceful in ways Baz had never seen when he was baking. In daily life, Simon was heavy-handed and clambering around everywhere he went. Here in the kitchen, Simon floated from counter to cabinet to oven, sure-footed and confident. Baz nearly burnt the chocolate, too busy ogling Simon as he measured out dry ingredients, tongue sticking out between his teeth in concentration.
“Oi! Basil, eyes on the stove, you’re gonna ruin perfectly good chocolate,” Simon barked as soon as he caught Baz’s eyes on him. Baz jumped, hadn’t even realized how long he’d been staring, and turned back to the task at hand. Once it was melted down suitably, he removed it from the heat and Simon stepped over to check it.
“Perfect, darling.” He kissed Baz’s cheek before turning back to one of the many mixtures laid out across the counter.
The whole scene was so domestic Baz felt like his heart was going to explode. He could see it, two, three, ten years from now, in their own kitchen doing just this. Simon floating around and making sure Baz doesn’t ruin things, sharing soft kisses and touches as they worked alongside each other. Together.
That’s all he wanted, wasn’t it?
This, being with Simon, for the rest of their lives. Or however long he could get, his mortality was still a big question mark, but he wanted Simon for as long as he could have him. And it was a simple want, one that he was sure Simon shared.
He hoped.
No, he knew.
Right?
There was only one way to find out, and the words left Baz’s lips before he could think twice.
“Would you marry me?”
Simon dropped the spatula he’d been using to stir some of the batter, it hit the counter with a wet clatter.
“Sorry?”
He turned to Baz with wide eyes and an unreadable expression. Baz was suddenly less sure, had he actually read it all wrong? Maybe it was ridiculous to think that Simon wanted this the same way he did.
“I - uhm,” Baz stuttered in a panic. Simon definitely heard him clearly, there was no way he could brush this off. Maybe this was the beginning of the end.
“Baz.” Simon abandoned the bowl and spatula, stepped in closer to Baz, the surprise on his face melting down into a soft smile. Baz’s own panic was quickly turning to confusion, until Simon’s mouth was on his and it was familiar and safe and warm and welcome.
Baz grabbed Simon’s shoulders, pulling back to find that dazzling smile looking back at him. “Wait, so is that...?”
Simon leaned in for another kiss in response, his hand winding around Baz’s neck and fingers threading through his hair. He pulled away just enough to speak, his lips brushing Baz’s with each word, “Of course I would, you numpty.”
That was what Baz needed.
He surged forward, not that he needed to as Simon was right there, and maybe it was a little too hard but neither of them cared. Simon parted his lips under Baz’s and Baz brought his arms around Simon’s waist, pulling him flush against him.
“Why didn’t you say that to begin with?” Baz asked between kisses, and Simon laughed into his mouth.
“Caught me off guard, didn’t you? I wasn’t expecting you to propose all the sudden.”
Baz nipped at Simon’s lower lip. “Neither was I, but you’ve been ruining my plans to do it all week, you arsehole.”
“Hey, don’t be mean to me, my boyfriend just told me he wants to marry me. This is a good night.” Simon dropped kisses along Baz’s jaw and cheek.
“Technically, he just asked if you would want to marry him.” Simon bit down where Baz’s jaw met his neck, eliciting a small noise from the other, before returning to his lips.
“I hate you.”
“I love you,” Baz whispered against his lips, unable to fight back his smile.
“I love you, too.”
They didn’t pull apart for several long minutes, until Simon suddenly jerked back from Baz’s embrace. “Fuck, wait! We still have to finish these. Shit, the chocolate’s already hardened again...”
Baz laughed and wrapped his arms around Simon’s waist from behind, kissing his neck gently. “It’ll be fine.”
“No, no more distractions.” Simon reached up and flicked at Baz’s nose, shocking him enough that he stepped back. “We finish these, and then we’ll come back ‘round to... this.” As stern as his voice was, Baz could see the smile that stretched across his face and remained there as he set back to the task at hand.
Baz had to keep his eyes down if he didn’t want to ruin something by getting distracted by Simon, but it was difficult. His mind was spinning in the best circles.
Simon wanted to marry him.
They’d had three years, and there were so many more ahead of them.
