Okay. This is about to be a LONG post because I’m hella passionate about this project. Let’s go.

This was my heartfelt attempt at recreating the average Zimbabwean rural compound/homestead, complete with the new house that usually accompanies the traditional huts.

To clarify: nowadays, most of the Zimbabwean population lives in modern cities with modern homes. Had to put this out there to shut down the silly misconception that we still live in mud huts and that we’re stuck in the past or whatever. We keep these rural homes and communities as a way to honour and cherish our roots.

Moving on,

I used a minimal amount of cc (which is why the decorations are a bit sparse in some places) because I found most of what I needed in the vanilla game, plus I just didn’t want to spend too long looking for extra props. I needed to get this done while I still had the vision.

This lot is going to be part of my custom vacation world that I named Kumusha, which is what we say to refer to our ancestral homeland in Shona, my native language. It’s all part of an even bigger hood that I want to model after what I grew up around in Harare. They won’t be exact replicas but they’ll be heavily inspired.

I’ve always adored my identity as a Zimbabwean girl. Moving abroad has deepened my desire to represent my culture and my nation as best as I can, because I don’t see a lot of that positive representation going for us on a more global front. I know for a fact that I’m not the only Zimbabwean who enjoys the Sims thoroughly, so I hope that eventually these efforts will call others who are like me and provide a sense of kinship and familiarity.

I hope to soon share my vision through gameplay videos, but for now I’m just happy to do that here. Of course any non-Zimbabwean simmers who like this sort of thing are welcome to embrace the vision too :)

This is a collage I made for my sims game

I did this a few months ago but I pulled it back up because I'm tryna play again. When I do sims I get sooooo attached to them & they're full complete people outside of myself so my current family doesn't follow my aesthetic at ALL. which is why I made them this. Yapping abt my sims under the cut

Southern Georgia, year 19??, A green widow and her blue toddler daughter in a tiny shoebox apartment. She's studying to become a lawyer. A neighbor she's never spoken to calls her up and asks if she needs help. This pink woman works at a daycare, all her kids have grown up and she would like to help a struggling mom. the two women start raising this little girl together. They become close. life between the three of them is so casual they sleep in one bed and become happier at the sight of the other. The women kiss in the kitchen one morning before our widow runs off to work. That night they talk. And realize they love each other. The green widow and her blue toddler leave the apartment and join the pink woman's family. It's an old white wood house with a porch and a mudroom. It reeks of family history and warmth. The pink and green furniture transform the space. The pink woman used to have a son, he had a red daughter with an orange woman, after his death the mother and teenage daughter continued to live with the pink woman. They welcomed the green widow and her blue toddler with open arms. The family grows. The orange woman finds a new boyfriend at the local gymnasium, the red teenager joins cheer at school. The green widow and the pick woman get married. the blue toddler becomes a blue child and she's smarter than the whole house with a fascination for books. The pink woman officially adopts the blue child. Orange woman and red teenager move out with orange's new boyfriend, they live in a two story log house. With the extra space pink and green adopt a new baby together. Teehee thank you for listening to me yap !!!! bye bye !!!

actually i feel like im being unfair to dating sims since i mostly play games that have a dating mechanic but dating isnt actually the main focus. and i never like the way they choose to implement it. maybe if i played a game that is totally dedicated to dating characters i would like it more

tbh i dont rly get it when ppl say that ur destroying ur spouses dream when u marry them in sdv, bc like... its kinda obvious imo that their Big Dream was either unrealistic (such as alex’s pro player dream... when was the last time that guy played in a team competitively? high school? hes gotta be like over 21 now. its not happening brother im sorry) or based on very romanticized ideas of what living in a big city is like.

i think its more that their priorities and worldviews change as they grow older n their relationship w the farmer develops. they learn to enjoy simpler life in a rural town, instead of chasing a dream one in the city that cant exist.
