I still don't understand why didn't they include Fedyor and Ivan in season 2? They added hundred new characters but cut the ones that the audience actually cared about and they wonder why people stopped watching the show. It's almost like they wanted it to flop this hard.

I think there were some issues with both actors- covid and clashing schedules if I remember correctly.

As much as I loved their performances or to be more precise- because I loved them so much, I'm glad they weren't involved in the end. The second season was worse than abysmal.

This way we can pretend Ivan crawled out of the Fold, found Fedyor, who barely escaped First Army slaughters, but due to their injuries they weren't able to join the Darkling in time, and moved to the Eastern Mountains after they healed, because there's no place for them in Lantsov Ravka anymore. And no one cares much about that area, so they'll be free to live hard, but happy and free life.

Love the subtle manipulation of reader, in case we forgot, who’s the bad guy. Adding concerned onlookers, using appropriate words (giant in connection with gently) that should cement the impression of caring strangers in comparison with awful, cruel Darkling’s second-in-command.

New game: Try reading the twins’ passages with the knowledge they’re religious zealots, blissed out by mere thought they’re near SANKTA!

I’m curious what rules apply in situation like this? It’s true, Alina is the Darkling’s prisoner. It’s true the ship’s not. Does it mean she’s entitled to special treatment? The twins act as if she was. It certainly doesn’t add to their credibility. Sturmhond’s supposed to be ruthless criminal. It’s strange at least, he and his crew defend once kicked nudged-by-foot prisoner. It’s not like Alina’s brutally tortured. Why should pirate privateer care anyway?

YoU sPeAk ShU LiKe A TuRiSt. I doubt it. Ivan won’t be Alina’s age and education’s pretty important if you wanna join the Darkling’s inner circle. I don’t think Shu fighting instructor’s the only Shu-speaking person in Little Palace. It’s one of the main languages taught there, I’m pretty sure there will be native speakers teaching it. Since there are plenty of refugees, I wouldn’t be surprised if they focused on various dialects too.

I’m going to be mean now, I wish Ivan killed the Bataars here.

I’d enjoy watching Simon Sears play this.

I doubt this was first incident.

Ivan’s described as arrogant, that’s probably why not mention this to his boss.

I’d argue he’s also high-ranking officer in organization, where nothing’s for free, therefore realistically needs to be clever. Their suspicious interest in Alina’s well-being isn’t something to be ignored. I’ll overlook Captain’s xenophobia, the Darkling was hardly in position to find someone more agreeable, but there should be limits.

The big problem nobody warns you about tracking down niche media to enjoy your special actor [tm] in, is that once you're done. There isn't such a huge loyal fanbase out there to hit up for enthusiasm and hot takes?

Unless there are any big Herrens Veje / Ride Upon the Storm fans out there? I'm about to start season 2 and I'm about to go out of my mind for people to shout at about this.

I can't even get my housemates to watch Shadow and Bone with me, let alone a modern Danish language family/religious drama.
