I’m weeping over how beautiful this is. The intimacy and sensuality that come with dressing your beloved was what I was thinking of with this prompt (same with magic who somehow came up with that idea separately and everyone was on board), and Alby captured that perfectly. There’s an established rapport, comfort, and trust that the act of dressing someone up speaks to; it can be as arresting as seeing or helping someone undress. 

You can tell how much they adore each other with the way that Steve’s strong hand is casually cupped around Tony’s elbow and Tony can’t keep his eyes off of Steve. He’s enraptured and who can blame him? He can’t even be bothered to look at the bowtie while he’s tying it for Steve. Not that he needs to because he’s an old hand at wearing formalwear. 

They’re so beautiful too. Look at Tony’s little curl falling over his forehead! The subtle waves in Steve’s and Tony’s hair. The detail in every strand of hair and the movement. Their clothes! The shading and fabric folds...I can get lost in them. I love the peek of pleating in Tony’s trousers and stripes on Steve’s shirt, Tony’s fancy belt. They look so debonair like matinee idols; every head will turn when they make their entrance to their fancy function! 

And the plants! I love them all. They situate this moment in a mid-century setting and add a classic charm to tie everything together while giving them some privacy. It’s like they’re in a secret garden of their own. 

What a wonderful companion piece to the MTH 2020 art Alby did. If not for Tony's goatee, you could, as Alby pointed out to the pod, imagine that the 2020 art was “Tony getting frisky and Steve's like, 'Darling, we have a function we need to get ready for!'” and this one is “the two of them getting dressed again post-afternoon delight.” (Alby, I loved what you said about it so much; I hope you don’t mind me quoting you here because it really does feel like the two pieces are in conversation with each other!)

There's a barely withheld violence in him that you only see in psychological horrors from Stone
