god it really sucks that sega is so dead set on Shadow's current characterization because like... Ian hates it too. like, he's always the target of criticism when it comes to Shadow in IDW and the TailsTube, but i really wish people would consider:

he also hates that this is the direction they're dragging the character. he wants Shadow to experience emotions again. like, fuck, dude, he writes a damn good Shadow when he's allowed some freedom, but Sega will not give him that anymore. you cannot read preboot Archie and then tell me he's not invested in giving Shadow depth and nuance.

and it's so frustrating because like, we've seen what Shadow can be when he's allowed to be a character. we've seen what he can be when he's written by people who care about the story and not just a cardboard cutout. we have seen what he can be when there's not a fucking crayon lodged in his prefrontal cortex

i get why people are upset, i really do. but for the love of fuck, Ian Flynn is not the problem here, and he never has been. hell, he's on your side. he's not happy about it, either

i talked with rpf girl a lot today... sigh... its crazy how much i enjoy being around people when there isnt a voice in my head screaming "EVERYONE SUCKS AND YOU NEED TO HATE THEM ALL." because rpf girl is so cute and interesting and we ALWAYS FUCKING TALK ABOUT COMMUNISM 😭 because shes from romania... and we went on a wikipedia deep dive on uhm the communist dictator that was executed in like the late 80s... it was so interesting. and then we kept talking...

i like her a lot bc when i bring myself to talk to her. to extend that olive branch... we talk for ages. all i did was say "good morning" when i sat next to her. and she just started talking :) i love people who talk a lot. i really love them. i wish i wasnt so easily irritated... i wish i wasnt so hateful 💔 because rpf girl really is SO sweet and just sigh shes so cute sigh sigh sigh its fun talking to her...

my favorite "joke" at work is to say "okay now say smthn nice about me" bc i always work w this one girl and whenever one specific manager is with us she always compliments my coworker like crazy. also ignore me i need to go hit my word count but this wouldn't leave my head. im so funny. she micromanages me to hell and treats me like im incapable and gives me the short end of every shift then has a meltdown if i look at her to see what she's doing when she forgets to work on the order i need to hand out.
