don't mind me, just reflecting over here
you were scared. I don't blame you. I was scared, too. these were rockier shores than I wanted for either of us. you were hurt. I hurt for you, and knew I couldn't tend to you if I slipped and hurt myself, too. that left me on edge.
you wished yourself alone for a bit, against the water's edge. I was afraid I'd lose sight of you, but didn't know how to ask you to keep a lantern, and blow me a kiss as you pass by. I wanted to join you, but I'd happily watch from afar if I could see your light.
you were swept away as a storm passed over high tide. the storms never get easier. the waves kept hitting the more you tried to swim back. and I know you tried. I could see it on your face whenever you climbed a crest high enough to see my outstretched hand.
your arms and legs got tired. I don't blame you. I tried to swim to you, but my hand must've felt like strangling seaweed. so you kicked free, harder than before, away. it hurt. I wanted you to see me and hear me hurt, but it was dark, and loud, and you were hurt, too.
I didn't give up. I don't give up. but I felt less of your ankle with each grasp. I may have scraped you a few times in the process. I'm sorry.
I've seen your reflection in the water, I think, but I can't see you anymore. I've tried to calm the waves and change the weather. I've cursed the moon and tides. I've tried to clear the rocks, but I'm sure more will roll in.
I've gone inside. I've slept when the waves soften. I've cried, and when that wasn't good enough, I learned to sob. I've tended to my wounds, stinging with salt. I've blamed everyone, but mostly myself. truly, none of us control the sea. I just wish I didn't lose so much to it.
I still keep an eye on the horizon, hoping. I don't think we love any less, or even want any less, but I hope you've found safe harbor. I hope you're resting. I hope each bead of your purple bracelet touches your wrist as gently as I did, and would.
you don't have to swim back. you could set every boat and raft ablaze. I don't blame you, and you're safe to do so. but, in calmer waters, as your limbs and heart allow, I'll be waiting, towel in hand.

I can't wait for Jean to spit out the most devastatingly encouraging and positive rhetoric during exy matches in with the most venomous bite as he has to hold back his Raven habits. Meanwhile Jeremy hearing Jean say things like "have a winning day!", or "good job on your foot work!" To their opponents like he's spitting curses and his racket tight in his fists with a face like he's about to knee cap them and remove their spleen with Jeremy standing on the court heart eyed and about to get checked into a wall because he's too busy watching Jean and forgot he has the ball.
