PSA for "Prompt" tags

*Only tagging every prompt tag I can think of because there's a common issue that's getting worse in all of the ones I follow*

Many new writers here seem to not understand what "prompt" or "inspiration" or even "list" tags are for. I've seen many who just seem to go, "Oh, this says otp/fluff/angst in it, I should put that on my post!" Which, no, that's not how it works.

What "prompt" (and similar) tags are for:

- generic inspiration

- ex: character A and character B go on their first date, what happens?

- list of words/things meant to *prompt* ideas

What "prompt" (and similar) tags are NOT for:

- answered asks from prompt lists (just say "prompt fill" or something)

- original writing/fic writing posts

- something that's more of a writing update than an actual prompt

Like, maybe it's just me because I don't see anyone really addressing it. I also tend to just block repeat offenders (aka those who do this often), so others who are also bothered most likely do the same. But it's been a growing issue, especially in niche prompt tags that already don't get enough activity with people making those prompts.

I get it, you're excited and want others to see what you've written. Which is understandable! But putting red balls in a "Green Balls Only" bin is just going to get people annoyed at you and your blog blocked. Technically, yes, things are related, but that doesn't mean it should be in there.

Categories are made for a reason. Please be aware of others, and if you're unsure what goes in a tag, look at the popular section of that tag. Granted, that's not always perfect (as I see a lot of Stranger Things or MCU fic posts get enough notes that they clog even that section), but it's a start.

I'm going to let this circulate for a while before I start blocking people again. Because, good news! You can remove tags from existing posts, and then your post will stop showing up in that tag. And I really don't want to inadvertently block someone I might enjoy reading. Just, you know, with the proper tags.

Sick OTP Prompts

Soooo…. I've never really done something like this but I had a strong urge to start sharing OTP writing prompts. No idea if I'll keep this up but it wouldn't hurt to try, at least.

That said, here's my first batch. A is the sick one and B is the caretaker. Please bear with me if the prompts are all over the place, I'm still new at this.

A is naturally an independent person and always takes care of themself when they're sick. B will not accept that and goes out of their way to look after A.

^ except A downplays their sickness and powers through it to do normal things (work, chores, etc). B insists on picking up the slack so A can rest.

B takes A's temperature.

B gives A a thorough head massage to relieve their headache.

A profusely apologizes for "burdening" B by being sick. B says they'll never be a burden to them.

A is too sick to shower, B helps wipe them down with a cloth so they can stay clean.

A has no appetite, B has to force them to eat.

A suffers from a chronic illness and can't get out of bed during a flare-up. B makes sure they don't have to lift a finger.

^ except they've been in a relationship for so long that B has a routine to take care of A.

A, slightly delirious, asks B for kisses and B has to turn them down for health's sake (they both hate that).

^ except B takes the risk and kisses A.

A falls asleep on B, B stays awake to watch over them.

A has lost their voice and has to communicate using gestures.

A and B are apart, B calls A throughout the day to make sure they're okay and taking care of themself.

Right after A recovers, B gets sick instead and A gladly takes care of them.

A and B are BOTH sick and spend the day doing nothing except cuddle and watch TV.

Freakishly tolerant caretaker prompts for sickfics: Cold Edition

1: Letting sickie blow and wipe their nose on them while holding them

2: *doesn't even flinch when sickie sneezes right in their face* "Woah, nice one."

3: letting sickie spit coughed up mucus into their hand

4: using their own body heat to soothe sickie's chills

5: basically being a human tissue and not even batting an eye

"good morning" Min said as he walked into the room

"morning- what the heck have you been drinking? you look like shit" i said looking at him

"i have a cold" he mumbled

"what?"

"i said i have a cold"

"i can't hear you"

"i have a cold okay?" Min snapped, almost embarrassed.

"immortals get cold ?" i asked amused

"unfortunately" he said slumping down next to me

i stretched my hand and put my palm on his forehead, he froze.

"what are you doing?" he asked

"i think you have a fever" i said putting my other palm on my forehead "you're burning up"

he sighed "id argue with you but I'm too tired to do so"

"alright come on get up, we need to get you fixed up"

"this is horrible" he whined as he got up

"nothing a good hot soup and some medicine won't fix"

"soup? where are you going to get soup from?"

"I'm going to make it"

"oh great I'm going to die of food poisoning" he said as he sat down on his bed

"stop complaining"

i walked into his bathroom and got a mug of cold water and dipped a cloth in.

"its just a fever it'll go away" he said looking at me

"lay down"

"you really don't have to-" and before he could complete his sentence he sneezed.

i put the cold cloth on his fore head, trying to bring his fever down.

"ill be back" i said walking into the kitchen. i returned back with a warm cup of soup, the aroma filling the air

"oh look at that, my last supper is here" He sassed

"its funny how you're still a jerk even with fever, now ahh"

"I'm not a kid"

"ahhh"

"i can have the soup on my own"

"ahhhh"

he groaned and opened his mouth "i despise you"

"ill get over it"

"I'm dying" he whined

I sighed. Who would have thought that the big, bad and intimidating Min gets so cranky when he's sick?

"its just a fever, it'll go away" I said mocking him as i looked down "you were supposed to take the medicine not leave it as decoration on the side table"

"medicine is a human concept it wont work for me"

Insufferable. Absolutely insufferable.

"shut up and have the medicine will you?" i said as I gave it to him and he just glared at me.

"you'll be fine in no time alright?"

"Alright"

"We'll your soup didn't kill me" He said

I sniffed my nose, barely able to keep my eyes open.

"this is your fault"

Tumblr as a website really does not utilize chronic heartburn/acid reflux in sickfics enough. The appetite loss, the constant feeling of acid being 3/4 of the way up your esophagus, the pain and burning sensation that radiates up from your chest, the fact that you can fucking Feel the texture of your stomach contents in your neck, the occasional waves of nausea and over-salivation that seem to hit even harder when you try to lay down, the fact that eating and drinking anything that isn't plain water and saltines will probably make it like ten times worse for a few minutes, the fact that sometimes antacids just straight up do not work

just. do you understand the potential. do you understand how a sickie who's just used to grinning and bearing it would get caught so off guard when someone they care about finally points out how absurd it is that they just deal with that on a regular basis. are you feeling it now.
