Does Cloud ever confront Zack about all the neglect he subjected himself to in favor of taking care of Cloud?

I think It'd be one of his first thoughts when he's awake again!

initially I think he'd just think Zack was being a bit silly, and that he'd focus more on himself now that Cloud wasn't completely reliant on him. After a few weeks(?) he'd realize how much Zack prioritizes Cloud over himself, and he'd try to be more forceful with it

....but neither of them are very good with their words, so it gets worse before it gets better.

it’s ironic, really, how you’ve always felt as though steve was bigger than the whole sky, a starry night, your whole universe, and now here he was adding cute, mismatched stars to your body as though you’re his universe. it became your thing, so to speak, turning each other into constellations and pretty skies and clouds and planets, you add orion’s belt to his back by using his freckles as connect-the-dots, and he turns your bruised thigh into saturn by adding rings and stars. lazy days spent in bed are always accompanied by markers and pens, paints and brushes to turn your stevie’s back into a pretty sunset one day, a colorful sunrise the next, always adding a heart here and there because you can’t help it. one day, as you softly press lazy kisses to every freckle you can reach on your boys’ skin, he feels as though he’s the luckiest guy in the world, a long sigh escaping him as he settles into this dream you’ve brought to his life, “jus’ thanking the universe i’m lucky enough to be yours�� “stevie, you are the universe”

I'm fascinated by people who write Cloud as prickly in his dynamic with Zack in fanfics, because according to canon he wasn't.

Like, Cloud is a sarcastic sonofabitch, he has no patience for people he finds annoying, that's definitely part of his personality, but he's just not like that with Zack. With Zack he is canonically playful and visibly making an effort to meet his energy level.

His considerable competitive streak comes out full force with Zack, but he isn't aggressive about it, it's good-natured.

When they meet he keeps up with Zack, responds to his acknowledgement by basically going "I'm the same as you" and Zack accepts that without question. Cloud says "I'm a country boy too" and Zack enthusiastically concludes their whole first exchange with "We're both backwater experts! Oh yeah!"

I'm sure trauma makes adult Cloud more prickly than he was as a grunt, but usually he's awkward and shy with people who don't annoy him both pre and post trauma. He's a little shy with Zack, but compared to his normal pattern it's nothing.

It's just something I noticed, people kinda defaulting to his general attitude towards Avalanche with Zack as well, and he's never actually responded to him like that canonically.

What Zack's nighttime routines/ brushing habit facial care routine if any? Shower routines? Does the boy floss regularly?

Zack: I used to tease Seph all the time about his 2-in-1 rosy vanilla chinchilla-champ shampoo & conditioner… but it smells SO GOOD. Guy lent me all his extra bottles!!!

*he puts the shampoo back, reaching for his razor next*

Zack: This here’s my all-star shaving equipment! A litttleee bit worn out… but it does its job!! And it does a great one considering I try to keep my face as smooth as possible. Well—now, anyway! For the longest time, I always wanted to grow a stubble. Would always get so frustrated with how long it took. Really just wanted to look like, erm… Angeal. But then he kinda got up and left and, well… things happened, and… uh… Yeah I’m just gonna put this… back now—

*he fluffs his pillow, nestling into the thick cocoon of covers, letting out a yawn*

I'd like to know what's the general opinion on "cloud minders".

I thought that the plot and the message of the episode were very bold and progressive for the time (between the limits they could work in). I was surprised to see it was written by a woman! In general I appreciated a lot of elements of it.

But isn't Spock a bit ooc there (and I swear I'm keeping any eventual Spirk agenda out of it)? Speaking freely about Pon Farr to someone he just met (he was ashamed to talk about it to Jim)? The way he was flirty and sensual ... Is this supposed to be the same Spock who wouldn't understand what it means to be together forever in "return to tomorrow"? Or to take another famous "straight Spock" example, the whole thing with Leila in "This side of paradise": one might say that there was attraction there, it's just that Spock experiences it differently and has other priorities.

Maybe it was just my impression, but it felt wrong. It was sort of cringy to watch in an otherwise great episode. My big take away from this is I need to find a way to watch it on order, maybe there's something I missed on Spock's character development.

Now that you mentioned it, I need more Genesis & Cloud friendship pretty please?

some general cloud and genesis bestie headcanons:

- genesis is absolutely cloud’s number 1 supporter in absolutely everything! no matter what, he will always have cloud’s back!

- they both trust each other in ways they don’t trust anyone else

- i feel like they sort of clicked immediately, like they’re very much platonic soulmates to me, and from the moment they met they had a bond like no other

- genesis very much tries to push cloud out of his comfort zone and tries to bring cloud out of his shell, helping cloud push his boundaries and become at the very least a little bit less anxious

- genesis convinces and helps cloud do all the things that cloud is otherwise too insecure or nervous to do! he’ll put cloud in outfits that cloud wants to wear but is too insecure to, he’ll help cloud talk to the other firsts when cloud’s too scared, things like that! he tries to do everything he can to help cloud be more confident in himself!

- they help each other greatly with relationship issues, its mostly genesis helping cloud with advice and such, but there’s also occasions in which genesis just needs a little comfort or a little confidence boost and cloud will do his absolute best to help genesis through it

- they’re very clingy and cuddly with each other!!! they’re very affectionate with each other, and they’re completely comfortable doing nearly anything and everything together!

- genesis is always the first person cloud ever goes to in case he has any kind of problem at all, but especially if he has embarrassing issues because he trusts genesis will help him without any judgement

- genesis will tease cloud a lot, but genesis knows to always make sure cloud is aware that he doesn’t mean it and that its just how genesis shows his affection at times

- they are absolutely the type to gossip to each other about everything
