Bookmark of Demise English Translation
Tumblr media
This book must never be touched. Can you solve this mystery?
"Due to the appearance of a traitor, the game has started. Should you wish to escape, you must heed the following instructions and end the game. Let a pleasant Demise Game begin." One-Man Hide and Seek, the Doppelgänger, Mary's Phone Call, the Monkey's Paw... Due to a taboo said to have happened ten years ago—the Bookmark of Demise—four boys and girls become involved in a certain game. They must carry out the orders written in the mysterious letters and actualize the urban legends. If they cannot, they die. "Now please, enjoy the worst ever after in history."
Nearly a whole year after I decided I wanted to retranslate the ShuuenPro novels, I can finally post book one! (Don’t worry, the others are nearly fully translated, aside from the afterwords, and won’t take nearly as long to post. I just really dragged my feet with this one.) Special thanks go out to Pascal, for giving me translation help at random hours of the night, and to Laura, for proofreading and editing the final draft. Extra special thanks go out to my mom, for buying me all those matcha lattes. Enjoy!

Perfect Crime Love Letter really is such a banger song. The structured laugh towards the end as a sort of jarring lyric and highlighting C-ta losing it (and I assume as a technique, very impressive?), and in the VA's version, the C-ta's scream and saying, "You're so helpless...A-ya..." ITS SO CHILLING, AUGHHHHH-

Shuuen No Shiori - Re:animate
Tumblr media
So recently I came across this Kagepro reanimated video and thought it was so cool and wondered if we could do something like this with Shuuen!
I would love to come together with a bunch of different artists and try to reanimate the Common Heroes music video. Everyone can participate, no matter the level or skills. Even if you don’t want to animate, there should be a bunch of scenes where one could use a still image.
I also definitely need help with the organization of this project… I’ve never done something like this before, so it would be very helpful if someone could help out with for example spreading this call to different social media, getting in touch with people, the communication throughout the process etc..
Support with video editing, in case you want to contribute neither with drawing nor illustration, is also very welcomed!
I‘ve created a google form to gather (possibly anonymous!) feedback.
Feel free to share this across platforms! Maybe even translate it to reach non English speaking artists?
This could turn out really amazing, I‘m looking forward to hearing from you all! My inbox is open and I’m also on discord~

so a fun fact about me i dont think many ppl know is that i used to do fan translation work, specifically of vocaloid stuff
(mostly songs on a french blog, and then later i started translating the shuuen no shiori novels into french on tumblr but uh. look im sorry idk what to say, this project aint getting revived orz)
anyway back in the days i based my translations on existing english translations, but now that im getting somewhat better at japanese ive been finding myself mentally correcting/adjusting translations i read more and more
im also reading a lot more comics on pixiv these days and sharing them with friends, and it just. it reminded me of my translating debut haha
bc back in the days i started translating so i could share songs with one of my friends, and only later started a dedicated blog, and now im sort of doing the same (half-assedly tho)
idk where im going with this. i guess ive been contemplating translating short pixiv comics properly ? albeit informally. basically doing typesetting and cleaning too, but idk if id want to share it publicly, so i guess it would be like. only between friends or sth
i dont really have a plan, or even a point with this post, i just. idk. felt like sharing some thoughts ive been having
i just miss translation i guess sdfsgdgfhg

人造エネミー Jinzou Enemy - Jin - English Translyrics
「 A song that turns away eyes. 」
"Living a life only doomed to repeat,  When your dreams all fall away, there's no point in remaining the same." Words you paint in lies so they won't fade. One and the same, we crave for a world that’s too far out of reach  Your fingertips that say this to me; Yet your silent voice is all the truth that I need.
The nameless figures you've hidden away,  And yet even then, how you beg for them to stay A love like that, you know there's no way they could feel the same.
Still, that's the way that it goes, so bring one and two more days to a close Bite down your fear like we're still alive* Just close your eyes and sleep ‘til you're fine.
"Ah, how it's all mundane," you scoff again, averting your gaze Even though you know your eyes could never look away... Hey, since it's all ignored, and you won't let those feelings arise Are you going to spend another day glaring, tired empty eyes staring at this lonely me through the screen?
You know this kind of life isn’t what you should do That hurting turning to all you knew To sort through truth and root out all the lies, it’s all hidden far away deeper than you can find
Is this whole world just lying to crumble beneath?** Since you don’t see it, hey, why don’t we Just run away from this broken place, to a non-reality made for you and me?
So why continue with your carrying on when this world is doing nothing but hate and scorn you? Just say 「 Goodbye 」 to it all, and only lie your eyes upon me.
"Ah, truly wonderful," you say, and clap your hands with glee But the lies you weave are slowly flooding down the streets. Hey, if you’ve grown so cold to a point where it’s more than you can bear Tell me why your tired eyes are still glaring, boring through me comparing me to all the lies that you see?
You know this kind of life isn't what you should do Why can't you see that you're breaking too? When all is gone and you're all that remains, close your eyes and turn away from the world that you find Stuck in a darkened room without kindness or light And soon, one day, when the sun will rise You'll hear my cries and resounding within as I break apart and fall out of existence
"No, please, this just can't be! Please, I don't understand!" You stare coldly as I cry, and say, "I'm done with this toy that can only talk, so just leave, I've gotten sick of it all."
———————————————————————— *The lyrics in Japanese don't explicitly mention death, but rather pretending to live, so I took liberties here to convey the story a bit better. For series like Kagerou Project and Shuuen no Shiori, I'm much more likely to take artistic liberties in the lyrics due to my familiarity with the source material in every form it's been adapted. **"Lying" is used throughout the lyrics intentionally, both in its meaning as a non-truth and as in 'laying' in another tense. The repetition of the term I felt fit the nature of this song very well, which is also why you'll find some repetitive terms and mid-line rhymes throughout the entire song.
[It's a concrete plan for me to eventually translate every Kagepro song! This has been my goal since I started writing lyrics several years ago~]

you've been in the voca scene a really long while, so do you have any songs from when you first got into it that are still bangers despite your taste changing over time?
yeah!!! although for the most part what i listened to when i got into it were the popular songs at the time. or at least semi-well known.
kemu's pandora voxx songs are still up there on my fave songs list especially rokuchounen, reincarnation, and ikasama life game.
i also still have a special place in my heart for the shuuen no shiori project songs despite not being active in the fandom the past few years. sarumane isu tori game is literally how i came up with my url. d-ne my beloved. theres a part in the ia ver of the song towards the end that always sounded similar to when u blow into a straw i always thought that was neat. arikitari heroes is still my most listened to song in my life. song i listened to for like a month straight if not more (+ multiple weeks on & off. for months.) Back In The Day & still have trouble turning off if i put it on.
i also adore old mafumafu songs adagaeshi syndrome was my first & still goes hard & kakushigoto & yuugure semi nikki are still songs i listen to frequently. kuusou sekai to omocha no shinzou was also something i latched onto heavily. also as the resident aoki lapis fan im required to tell u mafu owns her & has used her exactly Once in an album only song toumei palette which thank u for reminding me i think i'll go listen to that now
now the one producer i miss SOOO much who also deleted most of their works is sekaikeiP or #n/a. their songs are. loud. to say the least u will want to turn ur volume down for all but one of them but i HIGHLY recommend sekaikei shoujo wa dennou sekai wo oyogu which is my second fave song of theirs so im super glad its still up. it gets stuck in my head frequently. there was no translation for this when i found it so i tried doing it myself & it went poorly so its a really cool feeling to go from completely not understanding to being able to understand most of it without double checking anything. but i digress. also highly recommend muhyoujou shoujo to yume miru kusuri. again volume warning. solid song tho & this one does have a translation if i remember right. the last one no longer has an official upload anywhere HOWEVER its my favorite of all their songs so i'm breaking my own rules & linking a reupload here. shounen A to mousou shoujo. this one has a normal volume btw its the one thats not super loud. absolutely devastated they didnt keep this up it was one of their more popular songs too. i drew fanart for it & they found it & followed me bc of it. good times. this producer's been missing since 2015 but i still think of them fondly.
debated leaving him off bc of the drama around szm but i. legitimately have no clue if new fans know szm's songs. the idol series of songs are iconic of course. undead enemy as well. personally i also really liked jinrui gofun mae kasetsu. there was a period of time i drew a lot of the girl in the video.
as for more one off songs i still go back to
clean tear's suki ni natteshimatta... ayatsuriningyou. what can i say i love trance songs & aoki lapis.
ken's yokkyuu fuman march.
ych's yotei chouwa quest. also ych's poker face but everyone knows poker face i want people to know this one too.
takamatt's dragon rising.
seleP's ref-rain. actually im a seleP fan in general but this has pretty solidly been my fave the whole time. they do mostly yandere theme songs. which if ur a naisho no pierce fan ur used to anyway. but seleP's more dance/trance in genre.
im sorry this is such a long post ive listened to nearly exclusively vocalo songs since 2013 i know. so many

me and @cha-momile think it’d be really funny if C-ta was obsessed with lana del rey’s music. like he reads the lyrics to her songs and goes omggg she gets meeeee, because her songs are about 50s americana romanticism and being loyal eye candy for your hot husband, and i’m like he would love this because the only two things he does are try to hold onto the past and be the loyal eye candy for his ugly ass crush.
and he decides he wants to study english because of her music which is totally not at all similar to how i started studying japanese after i got into shuuen no shiori 😳. i think it’d be cute if he kept trying to show a-ya her music and a-ya is like i don’t know or care what she’s saying. and then a-ya asks him to help him translate some urban legend stuff he found on an english web forum. so c-ta wins either way
anyway there’s an unreleased lana del rey song called serial killer that is completely ludicrous like look at it
Baby, I'm a sociopath Sweet serial killer On the warpath 'Cause I love you just a little too much I love you just a little too much You can see me drinking Cherry Cola Sweet serial killer I left a love note Said you know I love the thrill of the rush You know I love the thrill of the rush
perfect crime love letter 2: the sequel?? c-ta bumps this all night while he watches a-ya on the camera feed and he has absolutely zero self-awareness about it.

Kagerou Project: A multimedia franchise based on a Vocaloid Series that on first glance seems to be just multiple adaptations of the same base story but are actually all unique despite all having the same backstory. Involves a big timeloop where each series of media is at least one different timeline in the loop, but the only indication there is a loop is a couple of the songs, a second timeloop nested inside the bigger timeloop, and the end of each timeline. Some media need to be seen before others for the lore to make sense but they all came out concurrently. The songs are in at least three different timelines but most of them do not say which (the assumption you're supposed to make is that unless it's obviously not, it's supposed to be in the timeline that only obviously exists in two of the ~30 songs). I think there are some official translations of some of the novels and some of the manga, but the rest is fan translated and some of the chapters of the manga are hard to find. Also the first piece of media to be completed is the last one you're supposed to watch.
Shuuen no Shiori: A more obscure Vocaloid Series multimedia thing. There are no official translations at all. There are four novels, but only two have been translated publicly. The manga fan translation swapped teams halfway through. Not all of the songs in the second album have publicly been translated, but are needed to more fully understand some characters. The manga skipped most of the second novel to try to catch up to the novels, but the series ended prematurely after the main story writer confessed to plagiarism involving music before the fifth novel came out. The manga then had to rush through most of the fourth novel and has a different ending that just randomly introduces Something at the end and it's near impossible to know anything about that thing unless you either get a novel 4 translation somehow (I have)(it doesnt reveal much about that thing) or you can understand the Japanese Voice Drama (which only has one track translated and the one that's translated isn't the one where the thing seems to more properly be explored). So unless you're really dedicated you'll just be introduced to some random thing. So like. Both media are supposed to be telling the same story but you effectively need to alternate between the two if you want to enjoy the Mystery Story the most.
I love it when stories make no sense. I love to have plotholes to stick my hands into or mend with headcanons. I love convoluted plots. I love lore that is incomprehensible from the outside. I love media that is so hard to get into you have to consult fanmade resources to even get started. Most of all i love piracy

hi shuuen people!
are there any public english translations for the re:act voice drama cd?
additionally, are there any translations for the two voiced tracks on the re:write limited edition Another Answer cd? “zero sum game” and “load to continue”. I was unable to find anything online recently, on shuuen-scans or any other sources.
I would like to work on providing translations for them, but I don’t want to do so if there are already good english translations floating out there on the internet.
thank you for your time!

Welp, no more second thoughts!
I'll be translating the late Shuuen Manga Chapters (27-33), please be aware that it won't be 100% accurate since I'm going to translate it from Portugese via Google Translate but I'll fix any phrases that don't make sense.
